Seasonal Facials | Best Treatments for Every Time of Year
Introduction: The Importance of Seasonal Facials
Just as our wardrobe changes with the seasons, so too should our skincare routine. Different weather conditions can affect the health and appearance of our skin, requiring adjustments in the products and treatments we use. Seasonal facials are tailored to address the specific challenges and needs that come with each time of year. From combating winter dryness to protecting against summer sun damage, there is a facial treatment for every season.
Winter Facials: Hydration and Protection
During the winter months, cold temperatures and low humidity levels can strip the skin of its natural moisture, leaving it dry, flaky, and sensitive. Windburn, chapped lips, and dry patches are common skin concerns during this time.
Best Winter Facials
Winter facials should focus on deep hydration and protection. A facial that incorporates rich moisturizers, nourishing masks, and soothing ingredients can help restore the skin’s moisture balance and protect it from the harsh elements.
Hydrating Facials: These facials use products designed to replenish moisture, restore hydration, and calm irritated skin. They may include ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides to lock in moisture and create a protective barrier.
Aloe Vera and Vitamin C Masks: Aloe vera is known for its healing properties, making it a great choice for treating dry, irritated skin. Vitamin C masks brighten the complexion and help protect against environmental stressors.
Oxygen Facials: Oxygen facials provide intense hydration and help rejuvenate dry skin by infusing it with a concentrated dose of oxygen and nutrients. This facial leaves skin looking plump, radiant, and hydrated.
Winter Facial Benefits
Restores moisture balance
Reduces redness and irritation
Soothes chapped skin
Rejuvenates and brightens dull skin
Spring Facials: Refresh and Rejuvenate
As the weather warms up, spring is the perfect time for renewal. The skin can benefit from a good exfoliation to remove the buildup of dead skin cells that may have accumulated during the winter months.
Best Spring Facials
Spring facials are focused on rejuvenating the skin, improving circulation, and addressing any damage caused by the winter elements. Facials that incorporate exfoliation and treatments designed to brighten the skin are ideal for this time of year.
Exfoliating Facials: These facials use gentle exfoliants, such as fruit enzymes or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), to slough off dead skin and reveal a fresh, glowing complexion. This is particularly beneficial after the winter months when skin may feel dull and lackluster.
Brightening Facials: With the arrival of more sunlight, spring facials often incorporate brightening treatments to help address any pigmentation caused by winter dryness or cold-weather stress. Vitamin C and licorice extracts are often used to lighten dark spots and promote a more even skin tone.
Microdermabrasion Facials: This type of facial uses a special device to exfoliate the outermost layer of skin, revealing smoother, more radiant skin beneath. It is perfect for those looking to refresh their complexion and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Spring Facial Benefits
Improves skin texture
Brightens complexion
Reduces pigmentation
Promotes fresh, rejuvenated skin
Summer Facials: Sun Protection and Oil Control
Summer brings longer days and increased exposure to the sun, which can lead to sunburn, dehydration, and increased oil production. It is crucial to focus on protecting the skin from harmful UV rays while keeping the skin balanced and hydrated.
Best Summer Facials
Summer facials should focus on oil control, sun protection, and hydration. These facials often incorporate soothing ingredients to calm irritated skin, along with treatments designed to minimize pore size and reduce shine.
Pore-Cleaning Facials: Excess oil and sweat can clog pores, leading to acne or breakouts. Pore-cleansing facials use masks, exfoliants, and steam to remove impurities and keep skin clear. Ingredients like charcoal or clay are often used for their purifying effects.
Sun Damage Repair Facials: After a season of sun exposure, a facial that incorporates antioxidants, such as Vitamin C, can help repair and protect the skin. These facials may also include ingredients like niacinamide or retinol to address sun spots and uneven pigmentation.
Cooling Facials: These facials focus on soothing sunburned or overheated skin with cooling ingredients like aloe vera or chamomile. Cooling facials help to reduce redness and inflammation caused by sun exposure.
Summer Facial Benefits
Protects skin from UV damage
Reduces oil and prevents breakouts
Soothes sunburned skin
Promotes hydration and balance
Fall Facials: Repair and Rejuvenate
Fall marks the transition from warm, humid weather to cooler, drier conditions. During this time, the skin can experience dehydration and environmental stress. Fall facials should focus on repairing and preparing the skin for the coming colder months.
Best Fall Facials
Fall facials are ideal for addressing any damage caused by summer sun exposure and preparing the skin for winter dryness. These facials often incorporate treatments that focus on replenishing moisture, reducing the appearance of pigmentation, and enhancing skin texture.
Anti-Aging Facials: As the skin starts to lose its summer glow, fall facials that focus on collagen-boosting treatments are highly beneficial. Anti-aging facials often include treatments like peptides, retinol, and antioxidants to combat fine lines and restore a youthful complexion.
Deep Hydrating Facials: With cooler air on the horizon, deep hydrating facials are perfect for replenishing moisture and keeping skin nourished. These facials often include nourishing masks and serums that infuse the skin with hydration.
Chemical Peels: Fall is an excellent time to undergo a chemical peel, as the skin is not exposed to as much sunlight. Chemical peels help to remove dead skin cells, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Fall Facial Benefits
Repairs sun damage
Reduces pigmentation and dark spots
Improves skin texture
Boosts collagen production
Conclusion: Tailoring Facials to Your Skin’s Needs
Seasonal facials are a great way to address your skin’s specific needs throughout the year. By adjusting your facial treatments based on the weather and environmental factors, you can keep your skin balanced, healthy, and glowing no matter the season. From hydrating facials in winter to pore-cleansing treatments in the summer, there's a facial treatment that can provide your skin with the care it deserves year-round.

Do you have any tips related to skin care?
hi angel! thank you for asking about skincare 🌸 i've been meaning to write a detailed guide about this! here's everything i've learned about achieving that dreamy, glazed-skin glow…
mindy's guide to achieving your dream skin

by mindy ♡ @glowettee
understanding your canvas:
before diving into products, let's talk about what your skin actually needs. your skin is delicate and deserves to be treated like the finest silk. here's how to start:
morning routine (in order):
gentle cleanse with lukewarm water
hydrating toner (pat, don't rub!)
vitamin c serum (wait 1 minute)
lightweight moisturizer
sunscreen (non-negotiable!)
evening routine (the dreamy part):
double cleanse (oil cleanser then gentle foam)
treatment (rotate between these)
monday/thursday: exfoliation
tuesday/friday: retinol
wednesday/saturday: hydrating treatments
sunday: rest day
essence (tap in with fingertips)
moisturizer
facial oil (if needed)
my holy grail products (that won't break the bank):
cleansing balm: heimish all clean balm
gentle cleanser: la roche posay toleriane
toner: laneige cream skin refiner
vitamin c: timeless 20% vitamin c
moisturizer: illiyoon ceramide ato cream
sunscreen: beauty of joseon rice + probiotics
secret tips i've learned:
sleep with a silk pillowcase
change pillowcases twice a week
apply products to damp skin
keep skincare in the fridge
use facial ice globes in the morning
drink spearmint tea for hormonal breakouts
practice face massage techniques
lifestyle changes that transformed my skin:
drinking 2.5 liters of water daily
getting 8 hours of sleep
eating more green vegetables
reducing dairy intake
managing stress through meditation
regular exercise (the glow is real!)
weekly sheet mask sessions
common mistakes to avoid:
harsh physical scrubs
hot water on face
touching face throughout day
skipping sunscreen
trying too many new products
over-exfoliating
sleeping with makeup on
creating your skincare sanctuary:
set up a dedicated space
use pretty containers
keep tools clean
maintain a skincare journal
take progress photos
emergency skin solutions:
sudden breakout: pimple patch + ice
dehydration: layered toner method
redness: centella products
dullness: gentle aha toner
sensitivity: skip actives, focus on healing
seasonal adjustments:
spring/summer:
lighter moisturizer
higher spf
more antioxidants
gentle exfoliation
fall/winter:
richer moisturizer
facial oils
humidifier
less exfoliation
note:
consistency over complexity
patience is key
listen to your skin
what works for others might not work for you
stress shows on skin
healing takes time
skincare is self-care
personal note:
i struggled with my skin for years before realizing that gentleness and consistency matter more than expensive products or complicated routines. your skin is unique and beautiful - treat it with love and patience. some days won't be perfect, and that's okay. focus on progress, not perfection.
sending you the softest hugs 🤍
love, mindy x

beauty on a budget for someone new to the lifestyle?
since you’re only starting out, you’ll probably want to focus on affordable products and diy and at home beauty treatments.
you can get affordable skin care products from brands like cerave, cetaphil, and the ordinary. you’ll find all your essential cleansers, serums, exfoliators and moisturizers. you can order facial sheet masks in bulk cheap from amazon. you can also use aztec secret healing clay as a clay masque. skip the guasha altogether and follow a youtube tutorial for face sculpting massages instead.
good quality affordable makeup brands I used when I was nearly broke included e.l.f., nyx, wet n’ wild, maybelline, and makeup revolution. look into some other drug store brands within your budget and check reviews before you buy anything so you don’t waste your money. get generic beauty blenders and powder puffs, you’ll be replacing them often anyway so it’s best to get them cheap. you can buy cheap big makeup brush sets on amazon that’ll last a long time if you clean them regularly and take care of them.
press on nails and home manicures / pedicures will save you a ton of money and time. find a good manicure kit and pumice stone. buy a dollar store basin and some epsom salts to soak your feet. for press on nails I usually get mine from temu or brands like kiss and impress. if you just want to paint your natural nails, get a gel polish like l.a. colors color craze gel or sally hansen miracle gel. if you want to go the extra mile, invest in the supplies and learn how to do your own acrylics or gel manicures.
learn how to wax, shape, and tint your own eyebrows. you can buy an affordable diy wax kit like this one and use youtube tutorials on how to find the most flattering brow shape. (as a bonus, the hard waxing kit can also be used to remove unwanted hair on the rest of your body.) you can also find cheap brow tinting kits that usually last up to five uses at sally’s beauty supply and various other stores online.
if you want your lashes done, you can either get really, really good at applying a strip lash – my go to affordable brands are ardell and kiss – or you can invest in some bulk lash clusters and the falscara diy eyelash extension kit. figure out what lash placement will best compliment your features, then watch lots and lots of youtube tutorials on how to use it and practice, practice, practice. they take some getting used to.
when it comes to hair care, the very first thing you want to do is figure out your hair type with a quiz like this one and find what it needs to look and feel healthy. I have 2A hair, so I would pretty much always spring for nexxus for something moisturizing and lightweight, but I’ve heard great things about ogx, shea moisture, not your mother’s, maui moisture, l’oreal elvive, and garnier whole blends which are great for other hair types, densities, and textures. all these brands carry a wide variety of products from shampoo, to leave in treatments, to hair masques, to curl cream — you get it. again, read reviews. you can also use a cotton t-shirt to dry and plop your hair instead of spending money on a microfiber towel, and a satin scarf wrapped around your head to protect your hair while sleeping instead of a silk bonnet and pillow case.
if you’re into styling your hair, two of my favorite methods are heatless styling and blowouts. for heatless styling, you may not even need to purchase any new styling tools. I started out using this heatless robe curl method and eventually started doing other heatless styling methods like the ones on this playlist once I started buying more tools, and did styles like these when I didn’t feel like setting my hair at all. for styles that require heat, a highly suggest investing in a dyson airwrap – which can do pretty much everything – so you don’t end up spending even more on an arsenal of hot styling tools.
good luck, sugar
xoxo

What is the no makeup skincare routine of Alicia Keys?
So, after much erosion of time and memory, these are the parts I kept (with equivalent products):
Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water spray (keep in fridge, spray) (highly highly recommend. transforming. if nothing else this product changed me. I genuinely Do Not Understand Why but I try not to question it.)
Jade roller (keep in fridge) and add Vitamin C serum with caffeine (couple drops over roller, roll over face) -> the oil I get? but personally I think the jade roller thing is bullshit. Nevertheless, what it *makes* me do is a ritualistic ~paying attention~ to all parts of my face when otherwise I would just blob, swipe, go. And so it works because the roller means I moisturise every part equally instead of just putting a blob of oil on a cheekbone and walking away with a shiny nose and dry spots on the cheeks
Moisturiser base - Alicia's makeup artist's recommended one (a suncream) stopped being made a few years ago, the equivalent I found which gives same results (but not suncream) is Moo Goo's Natural Fast Hydrating Lotion, which has the benefit of also being a full body moisturiser so, less product on shelf = always a win
Add a tiny bit of primer or foundation to the moisturiser base, mix on hand before spreading on face. Again, Alicia's primer not available any more, the equivalents I found is 1) La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, or 2) my current preferred-> Primp and Prime from The Organic Skin Company
Exfoliate lips once a week, brown sugar
Some mask thing once a week (I used to bother, no more, vague memories of it, no material difference)
A La Roche-Posay lip balm which I tried to google and found it was just discontinued? SOB (literally the only lip balm I have found in my entire life that delivers lastingly non-dry lips. I have this in bulk in my wardrobe. My lips crack to the bleeding. I've had friends say, "oh, but dry bleeding lips are just your aesthetic?" This stopped once I found this product. I can actually wear lipstick if I want without the colour leaching into the cracks like those cracked desert terrain images)
Do peripheral details because they will stand out:
-Do eyebrows once a week, tidy stray hairs
-Do hairline once a week (depends on ethnicity/hairline, mine does filter down into the face-space)
-Use eyelash curler
and lastly, the "no makeup" bit I did have to laugh at and I don't do:
Actually *wear* makeup for the red carpet, comprising tinted primer, mascara, tiny bit of eyeliner, light eyebrow pencil shaping, transculent shiny stuff rubbed on cheekbones, and a very carefully selected concealer for the under eye bags and general real world pigmentation which exists on all skin
The only thing I've added based on other reading, which I also attribute to the aggregate contributing of fixing my previous 25 years plus of weekly skin problems and pimples:
Shave my face once a week using the Avene spray as my shaving 'liquid'. Chin, cheeks, moustache, around eyebrows, monobrow, hairline, all of it. Unspeakably good results. Tiny small facial razor. Razor goes over each piece of skin exactly once, slowly, and use a very very sharp razor so there is no repeated strokes.
(The Avene spray, jade roller + serum, and the strategy of adding teh primer/foundation to the moisturiser to thin it out/improve spread were the true original items IIRC; the rest have adapted over time.)
#proviso: my skin is deeply olive.sallow.sensitive.dry#i have hypermobility which also does strange things to skin elasticity and reactiveness#and in descending order of origin: mediterranean + middle eastern/eastern european (borders keep moving) + splash of german scottish englis#in australia the land of sunburns

Skincare Concerns: Battling Windburn
Backstory: So I'm a dumbass and got windburn again. It's the first major snowstorm of the season and I'm out there furiously shoveling this horrid, wet, heavy snow--seriously, it's like straight up slush falling from the sky--while the wind is whipping my hood off. Suffice it to say, same as last winter, I've gotten windburned again.
What Is Windburn: According to Healthline, windburn is when your skin is exposed to harsh wind, temperatures, and possibly sunlight, causing it to lose moisture and become red and enflamed; you may feel a burning sensation. Another way to think of it is that the wind literally gives your skin friction burns.
Prevention:
Protect your skin with a layer of Vaseline or Aquaphor before going out
Makeup can help too; anything that puts an extra layer between your bare skin and the wind
Cover as much skin as possible; use a scarf or mask to protect your face
Treatment:
Wash your face with lukewarm water
Avoid gel cleansers and scrubs; use cream cleanser instead
Avoid harsh skincare products, e.g. astringents, toners, exfoliants, etc.
Moisturize frequently
Use cold compresses to ease the 'burn'
You can also use OTC pain/inflammation relievers
Summary: Stay away from harsh ingredients like exfoliants, strong acids, toners, astringents, etc. If you have windburn, you want to put moisture back in your skin, not be pulling it out. I also recommend avoiding brightening agents because your skin will already be red and agitated from the windburn. You don't want to make it worse.
Use products heavy in lipids (oils), ceramides, NMF, and other barrier-strengthening ingredients, and hyaluronic acid. Beta glucan is another good active to look for. Use SPF if you're going to be outside because oils can increase risk of sunburn.
Read on for a more detailed explanation.
GOOD PRODUCTS TO USE WHEN WINDBURNED
Cleansers
Cream Cleansers
Cream cleansers are typically gentler than most other cleansers. They tend to have more lipids in them, which is a fancy way of saying fats and oils, and fewer ingredients that will strip your skin.
Try: Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser, Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser, Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleanser, Cerave Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser, Cocokind Oil-to-Milk Cleanser, Honest Beauty Calm On Foaming Cream Cleanser, The Ordinary Glycolipid Cream Facial Cleanser
2. Cleansing Balms & Oils
Here I am, back on my soapbox. Cleansing balms, AKA cold creams, are great for windburn. They're highly emollient and put stuff back into your skin rather than taking it out. Cleansing oils are good too. You will have a residue. Just let your skin absorb it. Do not double cleanse.
Try: Bliss Mighty Biome Pre/Post Biotics Cleansing Balm, Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil, Byoma Melting Cleansing Balm, Cerave Makeup Remover Cleansing Balm, Good Molecules Instant Cleansing Balm, Mad Hippie Cleansing Oil
Essences
Avoid toners and astringents. Essences are okay.
What's the difference? Essences, as in K-beauty, add moisture to the skin. Toners pull out dirt and oils. You don't want that if you're dealing with windburn.
I'd avoid anything that says it will brighten, tone, or make your skin glow. If you've got windburn, your skin is pretty red, and you don't want to use any actives like Vitamin C that will make that worse.
Try: Fresh Rose Instant Hydration Mist, Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Essence, Heritage Store Rosewater Refreshing Facial Mist (not Rosewater Toner) or Rosewater & Glycerin Hydrating Facial Mist, La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water for Sensitive Skin Spray, Neogen Real Heartleaf Soothing Essence, Vichy Eau Thermale Mineralisante (Mineralizing Thermal Water) Spray
Serums
Stay with known hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, NMF, ceramides, etc. Focus on restoring skin barrier health.
Avoid brightening ingredients like Vitamin C, as these can cause increased redness and photosensitivity. Stay away from strong acids like AHAs and BHAs.
Try: Honest Beauty Stay Hydrated Hyaluronic Acid + NMF Serum, Byoma Hydrating Serum, Cocokind Ceramide Barrier Serum, Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum, The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum
Moisturizers
As above, focus on products with ingredients known for capturing moisture and improving the skin barrier. These include things like hyaluronic acid, lipids (oils), NMF, ceramides, beta glucan, and Vitamin E. Probiotics might also help.
Avoid skin brighteners like Vitamin C, strong acids (AHAs & BHAs), etc.
Try: Bliss Mighty Biome Ultra-Concentrated Pre/Post Biotics Moisturizer, Honest Beauty Hydrogel Cream, The Ordinary NMF + HA Moisturizer, buttah. Oil Free Hyaluronic Gel Cream, CosRX Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream, Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream, Good Light Order of the Eclipse Hyaluronic Cream, Kopari Moisture Whipped Ceramide Cream, Pacifica Vegan Ceramide Barrier Face Cream and/or Lotion, The Ordinary NMF + PhytoCeramides Moisturizer, Sacheu We Occlusive Intense Overnight Moisturizer
Oils
Pretty much any oils you want to try on your skin will help. Oils are an important part of your skin routine, whether you're getting them from a cleanser or a cream, or adding them directly to your skin. I like to apply my cream moisturizer, then add a few drops of oil on top in the winter. It helps lock in moisture and creates another thin layer between your skin and the great outdoors.
The cool thing about oils is that you don't have to spend a lot of money on them if you don't want to. You can just go to your kitchen cabinet and see what's there.
From a previous post:
There are more common oils like coconut, olive, avocado, grapeseed, sunflower seed, sesame seed, and almond oils that you can literally buy at the grocery store. I did some research and chemically there’s no difference between what’s sold in a big bottle at the grocery store and what’s sold in tiny, more expensive bottles by wellness brands. You just want to make sure that whatever you’re purchasing is organic and does not have additives. The oils that are a little less common, which you probably won’t be able to find in the grocery aisles, include: apricot, marula, rosehip, argan, chia seed, pumpkin seed, carrot seed, shea oil/butter, castor, evening primrose, squalane, jojoba, and acai. Pricing on these can be all over the place. Some are more common than others these days, like argan, rosehip, marula, etc. Others are going to be harder to find or just cost more to make, like evening primrose, chia seed, etc. You should look up oils to use for your skin type, but here are a few articles to get you started. Everything You Need To Know About Face Oils | 8 Best Natural Oils for Healthy Skin
You can even use vegetable shortening in a pinch, which typically has a soybean oil base. Lots of soy used in skincare, although if you've read my other posts, I'm pretty iffy on soybean oil these days. I'm currently using a mix of equal parts olive, avocado, and carrot seed oils.
If you'd prefer to purchase a special blend from a skincare company, that's totally valid too.
Try: Good Molecules Ultra-Hydrating Facial Oil, Byoma Hydrating Recovery Oil, Cocokind Chia Omega-3 Facial Oil, Honest Beauty Organic Beauty Facial Oil, Indeed Labs Squalane Facial Oil, The Ordinary "B" Oil, Well People Plant Elixir Replenishing Botanical Facial Oil

This razor has a spring loaded head but takes standard replaceable shaving blades. it is easy and cheap to keep the blades extremely sharp, the articulated head makes it hard to cut yourself, and you can put 1, 2, or 3 blades in it for a gentler or more aggressive shave.
i am not necessarily recommending this product. Fwiw I think the actual razor is solid, but I bought mine years ago so maybe they suck, idk. Ask reddit if you want autistic product recommendations. This was the first one like this I ever found so I bought it and haven’t had to look at the market since then.
anyways, regardless of razor, you get the closest shave using sharp blades and more blades, and by shaving with, across, and then against the grain. (3 complete passes) You can reduce skin irritation by using a good shaving cream, by using clean sharp blades, and by washing your face beforehand and washing and moisturizing after.
I use my foaming face wash soap as both a shaving cream and a face wash. I usually wash my face with it, rinse that off, then add a new layer to shave with, then shave & rinse, then finally rinse (not scrub) with soap and then rinse with water. (fyi if you scrub/exfoliate after shaving it can give you acne. here I mean just a gentle rinse of whatever is left from shaving - this is true for your body too - don’t exfoliate after you shave).
You might want to use something thicker for shaving cream - at this stage of the game my facial hair is thin enough that I can get by with that soap. I used Cremo back when I was shaving more and it was decent enough for the price. I have no strong opinions on shaving cream so I guess ask reddit or figure it out yourself.
For blades, I use Astras, off amazon. Probably any standard, separable double-sided shaving blades will work. The razor is expensive but its 3 half blades per refill, so that’s 100 cycles per 150 blades. It’s pretty cheap and easy to keep sharp, for me.
For moisturizer I usually use another CeraVe product - they have a big tub they sell at Costco and that works fine for me.
For face wash I use the CeraVe foaming cleanser. Get something that doesn’t dry out your face too much but still lets you get off makeup and stuff.
hello transgender woman on reddit. before you is a transfem who is pre-everything asking about how to get a close shave on facial hair. if you reply "just get laser hair removal" a bomb will go off killing you instantly

How Often Should You Get a Facial? A Dermatologist-Approved Guide
Why Facials Matter
Facials are more than a luxury—they support healthy skin by deeply cleansing pores, exfoliating dead skin cells, boosting hydration, and improving circulation. But like any skincare treatment, their effectiveness depends on consistency and timing.
The General Rule of Thumb
Most skin experts, including dermatologists and licensed aestheticians, recommend getting a facial every 4 to 6 weeks. This cycle matches the skin’s natural renewal process, where old skin cells shed and new ones surface. Regular facials help manage this process and maintain balance.
Factors That Influence Facial Frequency
Skin Type
Oily or Acne-Prone Skin: A facial every 3 to 4 weeks may help manage breakouts and clogged pores.
Dry or Sensitive Skin: Once every 6 to 8 weeks is usually sufficient to avoid over-stripping or irritation.
Normal or Combination Skin: Every 4 to 6 weeks keeps the skin refreshed without overwhelming it.
Skin Concerns
If you’re targeting specific issues like acne scars, hyperpigmentation, or fine lines, you might require a more customized schedule with treatments like chemical peels, LED therapy, or microneedling. Your aesthetician will guide you based on your goals and skin condition.
Age and Lifestyle
As we age, the skin loses elasticity and regenerates more slowly. Those over 40 may benefit from monthly facials focused on collagen stimulation or hydration. Additionally, external factors such as sun exposure, pollution, stress, and poor diet can increase the need for consistent treatments.
Seasonal Considerations
Skin reacts to weather changes, so seasonal facials can be very effective:
Winter: Boost hydration and repair wind-chapped skin.
Spring: Exfoliate and detox after dry winter months.
Summer: Control oil, clear congestion, and soothe sun exposure.
Fall: Repair sun damage and restore balance before colder weather.
When You Might Need More Frequent Facials
In some cases, a short burst of weekly or bi-weekly facials might be recommended, such as:
Preparing for a big event (wedding, photoshoot)
Treating acne flare-ups or scarring
Undergoing an intensive treatment plan for skin rejuvenation
These regimens should always be supervised by a skincare professional.
When Less Is More
Facials done too often—especially aggressive ones—can lead to irritation, redness, or disrupted skin barrier function. Overdoing exfoliation or extractions can cause inflammation and breakouts, especially for sensitive or compromised skin.
How to Know It’s Time for a Facial
Watch for signs like:
Dull, tired-looking skin
Excess buildup or clogged pores
Frequent breakouts
Uneven texture or dryness
Loss of glow or elasticity
If you’re unsure, consult your aesthetician. They can evaluate your skin and recommend the right frequency.
Maintaining Results Between Facials
Even the best facial won’t last without good at-home care. Stick to a routine that includes:
Daily cleansing and moisturizing
Sun protection (SPF 30+)
Weekly gentle exfoliation
Hydrating masks or serums
Avoiding harsh products between visits
Consistency is key for lasting results.
Final Thoughts
How often you should get a facial depends on your skin type, lifestyle, age, and individual skin goals. For most people, every 4 to 6 weeks is ideal. Others may need more or less frequent treatments. By working with a trusted professional, you can tailor a schedule that helps your skin stay clear, hydrated, and healthy year-round.

Imagine stepping into the season with confidence, flaunting smooth and radiant skin. Let's explore why spring waxing deserves a spot on your beauty to-do list.

Why Spring Waxing?
Ah, the sweet liberation from winter layers! Picture yourself shedding the heavy coats and embracing lighter clothing with the confidence of silky smooth skin. This is the magic of spring waxing, where hair removal becomes a celebration of the season's arrival. As the days get warmer, let your skin breathe and radiate confidence with the transformative power of spring waxing.
1. Shedding Winter Layers
Spring is all about trading heavy coats for flowy dresses and cozy sweaters for breezy tops. Ensure your skin is ready to shine by bidding farewell to unwanted hair. Say hello to skirts, shorts, and sundresses with the confidence that comes from silky smooth legs.
2. Boosting Confidence
There's something magical about feeling the sun on your skin after months of hibernation. Spring waxing isn't just about hair removal; it's a confidence booster. Picture yourself strolling into a spring garden party with the radiant glow that comes from beautifully waxed skin.

Preparation Tips for Spring Waxing
Before you embark on your spring waxing journey, a little preparation goes a long way. Think of it as a prelude to blooming beauty.
Exfoliation Magic
Prepare your canvas by exfoliating your skin a day or two before your waxing session.
This ensures a smoother experience and helps prevent ingrown hairs, leaving you with nothing but velvety softness.
Perfect Timing
Timing is everything, especially when it comes to spring waxing. Plan your session a few days before any special event to allow your skin to settle and glow.
Hydration Happiness
Keep your skin happy and hydrated in the lead-up to your waxing appointment.
Well-moisturized skin not only makes the waxing process smoother but also aids in faster recovery.

Choosing the Waxing Technique
Now that you're primed for your spring waxing adventure, let's explore the world of waxing techniques. From traditional strip wax to the luxurious hot wax experience, each method has its unique benefits. The choice is yours, and we're here to guide you through selecting the technique that suits your skin and preferences. Let's dive into the art of waxing for the perfect springtime glow.
1. Waxing Wisdom
Understanding the different waxing methods is key to a successful session. Whether you opt for traditional strip wax or luxurious hot wax, each technique has its benefits. Choose what suits your skin and preferences for the perfect waxing experience.
2. Professional vs. At-Home
Consider your comfort level and expertise. While at-home waxing is convenient, seeking the skills of a professional ensures precision and a pampering experience. Platforms like MOBILESTYLES connect you with expert beauty professionals who bring the salon to your doorstep.

Spring Waxing for Different Body Areas
As you envision a wardrobe filled with springtime favorites, don't forget the importance of waxing different body areas to achieve that seamless, confident look. Your legs, bikini area, underarms, and even facial features all deserve a touch of spring magic. With each area addressed, you'll be ready to showcase your smooth skin with grace and radiance, making this season truly unforgettable.
1. Legs
Spring is the season for flaunting those legs! Ensure they are silky smooth and ready for sunshine. Waxing your legs not only removes hair but also exfoliates, leaving your skin irresistibly touchable.

2. Bikini Area
With beach days on the horizon, a well-groomed bikini area is a must. Spring waxing ensures you're beach-ready, confident, and free to enjoy the sun and sand without a second thought.
3. Underarms
Welcome sleeveless tops with the assurance of flawlessly waxed underarms. Say goodbye to the hassle of daily shaving and embrace the ease that spring waxing brings to your beauty routine.
4. Facial Waxing
Greet spring with a radiant face by addressing unwanted facial hair. From eyebrows to upper lip, facial waxing adds a touch of glamour, framing your features beautifully.

Spring Waxing Myths
Before we delve deeper into the world of spring waxing, let's dispel some common myths that might be lingering in your mind.
Myth: Waxing is Painful
Reality: Modern waxing techniques are designed for comfort.
With skilled professionals and quality products, the discomfort is minimal, and the results are worth it.
Myth: Waxing is Not Safe
Reality: When done by trained professionals or using reputable at-home products, waxing is a safe and effective hair removal method.
Let's banish the myths and embrace the truth about the joy and effectiveness of spring waxing.

Post-Waxing Care Tips
Congratulations, you've leaped spring waxing! Now, it's time to pamper your skin with some post-waxing care. Think of it as a soothing ritual to keep your skin happy and radiant. From soothing products to sun-smart practices, we'll guide you through the essential steps to ensure your post-waxing experience is as delightful as the process itself.
1. Soothing the Skin
Pamper your skin post-waxing with soothing products like aloe vera gel. This not only cools the skin but also helps prevent irritation.
2. Sun Smart
Avoid direct sun exposure immediately after waxing. Your skin is sensitive, so shield it with clothing or sunscreen to maintain that fresh and glowing look.

Professional Waxing Services
Professional estheticians bring a wealth of expertise to your waxing session. Their skills ensure a precise and comfortable experience, leaving you with nothing but satisfaction.
Spring is the perfect time to bloom into confidence with a session of rejuvenating spring waxing. Embrace the season with silky smooth skin, ready to shine in the sunlight. 5 Facial Treatments for the Winter Months
Although we tend to associate the winter with wetter weather, it’s actually a drier season when it comes to impacting our skin. This is because cold air holds less moisture, so even though it’s raining outside, our skin can be wishing for better hydration. Of course, that’s not the only need our skin has in the weeks we spend waiting for spring.
With that in mind, here are five recommended facial treatments for skin rejuvenation from the Madison, WI-based Radiance Skin Therapy.
Hydrafacial MD
Cosmetic issues are often the result not of one problem, but a combination of stressors and factors. Hydrafacial meets this challenge by not providing one treatment benefit, but rather by combining three strategies into a single session. The device exfoliates to remove dead skin and oil on the surface, extracts materials from deep within pores, and hydrates by infusing the newly opened skin with specialized serums. All of this combats the wear, tear, and overall dryness winter weather can be responsible for inflicting.
Chemical Peels
Beautiful skin is “lively” skin, which is healthy and able to tackle the problems that winter weather can throw at it. Unfortunately, our skin becomes sluggish over time, with skin cell turnover winding down and damage accumulating in the uppermost layers. Chemical peels are ideal for removing the dead and dull layers, which gives the skin an immediate glow, as well as minimizes the chances of future acne breakouts. Stronger peels can require more downtime for healing and recovery—but that shouldn’t be a problem in winter, when you have a built-in seasonal excuse to stay indoors and avoid associating with others. Just say you’re hunkering down until the weather warms up!
Microdermabrasion
The fact that there are multiple exfoliating treatments available shows how very important exfoliation is. In other words, you can just about always get some benefit out of removing that unneeded outermost layer of debris that builds up without regular removal. Microdermabrasion is something like sanding away the dead cells, gently abrading the surface in order to open pores and minimize acne, as well as provide a smoother surface for makeup to glide on evenly.
Microneedling
Looking to do something about both texture and tone—ideally with long-lasting results that help your skin to look and feel the best it has in a while? Consider microneedling, a skin rejuvenation treatment also known as a collagen-induction treatment. This strategy gets its name because it literally induces specialized cells in the skin to produce new collagen that firms, plumps, and supports. Enhanced collagen levels can help with everything from fine lines and wrinkles to the appearance of large pores to lasting marks like acne scars. As collagen levels rise, the visibility of a host of skin concerns can be greatly reduced, leading to an overall improvement in the appearance of the treatment area. A variation on this treatment adds radiofrequency energy delivered via the collagen-inducing needles. Adding Ariessence Pure PDGF+ can also be beneficial, as this is a highly concentrated growth factor.
AQUAGOLD® Fine Touch
That summer sun may be well hidden by clouds half a year later, but the signs that you spent your days outdoors likely linger well into the new year and beyond. Winter can be an ideal team to target these marks of UV radiation damage, especially with AQUAGOLD® Fine Touch. Although the treatment resembles microneedling, it is actually a separate strategy known as microinjection. In other words, instead of just creating channels to trigger collagen production, each ultrafine, gold-plated needle delivers a customized blend of products combined to maximize both health and beauty. This mix can include fillers and neuromodulators, advanced ingredients like platelet-rich plasma or growth factors, and reliable antioxidants, peptides, and vitamins. In addition to sun damage, the microinjections can also help with intrinsic signs of aging.
If you have questions about skin rejuvenation, and especially treatments that work especially well in the winter, contact Radiance Skin Therapy and Laser Center by calling 608.240.0088 or sending a message online.

Skin Care Tips for Every Season: Keep Your Skin Fresh Year-Round
Your skin goes through various changes as the seasons shift. From the harsh winter cold to the hot and humid summer months, each season brings a unique set of challenges to your skin. To maintain a healthy, glowing complexion all year round, it’s essential to adjust your skin care routine to suit the changing weather. In this blog, we’ll share expert skin care tips for every season to help you keep your skin fresh and healthy, no matter the weather.
Spring Skin Care Tips: Fresh Start After Winter
As the weather starts to warm up in the spring, your skin may begin to feel less dry and tight after the cold winter months. However, the change in temperature can also lead to allergies and increased exposure to allergens, which can cause skin irritation.
Spring Skin Care Tips:
Exfoliate Gently: After months of dry air, your skin may have accumulated a buildup of dead skin cells. Use a gentle exfoliator to refresh your skin and reveal a brighter complexion.
Switch to a Lighter Moisturizer: As the temperature rises, switch from heavy creams to lightweight, hydrating moisturizers that won’t clog pores or make your skin feel greasy.
Wear Sunscreen Daily: Even in spring, UV rays can damage your skin. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from harmful sun exposure.
Hydrate Your Skin: As the air becomes drier, consider using hydrating serums or facial mists to replenish moisture and keep your skin dewy and fresh.
Pro Tip: Incorporate antioxidants like vitamin C into your spring routine to protect against environmental damage and enhance skin brightness.
Summer Skin Care Tips: Protect and Refresh
Summer brings the warmth of the sun, but the increased exposure to UV rays, sweat, and humidity can wreak havoc on your skin. Maintaining a healthy skin care routine is key to protecting and rejuvenating your skin during the summer months.
Summer Skin Care Tips:
Use a Gel-Based Moisturizer: Hot temperatures can leave your skin feeling oily, so opt for gel-based moisturizers that hydrate without leaving a greasy residue.
Don’t Skip Sunscreen: Sunscreen is essential during the summer months. Choose a water-resistant sunscreen and reapply every two hours, especially if you’re swimming or sweating.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from the inside. This will help flush out toxins and promote a radiant complexion.
Cleanse Twice a Day: With the extra heat and sweat, your pores may clog more easily. Cleanse your skin in the morning and evening to remove impurities and prevent breakouts.
Use a Mattifying Primer: For those with oily skin, a mattifying primer can help control shine and keep your makeup looking fresh throughout the day.
Pro Tip: Consider using products with aloe vera or cucumber extract to soothe sunburned or irritated skin after a day in the sun.
Fall Skin Care Tips: Repair and Nourish
As temperatures drop in the fall, your skin might start to feel drier, especially after the summer months of sun exposure. It’s time to focus on repairing, nourishing, and preparing your skin for the cold winter ahead.
Fall Skin Care Tips:
Switch to a Richer Moisturizer: As the air becomes drier, upgrade your moisturizer to a richer, more emollient cream to lock in hydration and protect your skin from the cooler air.
Introduce Hyaluronic Acid: Fall is the perfect time to introduce hyaluronic acid into your skin care routine. This ingredient helps draw moisture into the skin, keeping it hydrated and plump.
Avoid Hot Showers: While it’s tempting to take hot showers in the cooler months, hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils. Use lukewarm water instead to maintain your skin’s moisture balance.
Exfoliate Less Frequently: In the fall, avoid over-exfoliating, as your skin can become more sensitive to the changing weather. Instead, exfoliate once a week to remove dead skin and promote cell turnover.
Pro Tip: Add nourishing oils like jojoba or argan oil to your routine to replenish your skin’s moisture and create a protective barrier against dry air.
Winter Skin Care Tips: Deep Hydration and Protection
Winter is often the most challenging season for skin care. The cold, dry air and harsh winds can strip moisture from your skin, leaving it feeling tight, flaky, and irritated. The key to winter skin care is maintaining hydration and protecting your skin from the elements.
Winter Skin Care Tips:
Switch to a Heavier Moisturizer: During the winter months, your skin will need more moisture. Use a richer, thicker moisturizer that can provide long-lasting hydration and protect your skin from the cold.
Use a Humidifier: Indoor heating can make the air in your home dry, leading to dehydrated skin. Using a humidifier can add moisture to the air and help prevent your skin from becoming dry and flaky.
Apply Oils and Serums: Incorporate facial oils or serums into your routine to provide an extra layer of hydration and lock in moisture. Look for oils like rosehip, avocado, or squalane for their nourishing properties.
Don’t Forget Lip Care: Winter can be especially harsh on your lips, causing them to become chapped and cracked. Use a nourishing lip balm with SPF to keep your lips soft and protected.
Wear Sunscreen, Even in Winter: UV rays can damage your skin year-round, so it’s crucial to wear sunscreen every day—even in winter. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF to protect against both UVA and UVB rays.
Pro Tip: Use a hydrating face mask once a week to give your skin an extra moisture boost during the coldest months.
Conclusion: Seasonal Skin Care Is Essential for Healthy Skin
Adapting your skin care routine for every season is essential for keeping your skin fresh, hydrated, and protected year-round. From lightweight moisturizers in spring to thick creams and oils in winter, each season requires its own unique approach to skin care. By following these skin care tips and adjusting your routine to the needs of each season, you’ll ensure your skin stays healthy and glowing no matter the weather.
