Only 50 pages in, but oh my god. So glad Dorian’s still here. Watching their writing only grow across these 3 books has been a gift.

sometimes, you wondered if the 'i love you's you had said were enough. if he understood how much you mean to them. if he truly ever heard and took them with him, tucked in a secret corner in his heart.

you wonder, if he knows that you regret not saying it more to him.

"i..." you tried to tell the empty space in front of you. a space that had come to place itself in your life in a presence that resembles a puzzle's hole more than a crack.

something should have been there and you know more than anyone what it is—who it is. yet, it remained unfilled no matter how much you wish to reverse time back to a happier time.

you wish it was all meaningless. that all these thoughts are mere hauntings built up by your own fantasies and when you blink, he will be there. maybe he could smile, maybe he could feign a cool mask, but all the same, his finger would intertwine with yours.

maybe, he would take a step closer to you, bumping your shoulder. maybe, his eyes would stray and look around, while the heat from his body remains just next to you. maybe, full of concern, full of care, he will ask you, "what's wrong?"

but, it is mere wishful thinking.

from somewhere, the strangers' footsteps resounded in the distance and he was not by your side. it would have been like a penitence, like an admittance to no one. so, in the end, you swallowed all your words down.

hm..... pomni taking peoples hand as a repeating image in the show..... happens in ep 1, with ragatha, its kinda evoked with her reaching for the final exit door, ep 2 is pretty blatant with it i dont need to say anything else on that, and in episode 3 the scene with kinger..... episode 4 doesnt have anything with this i dont think (i COULD technically say her raising her hand at the beginning of the ep but that is a MASSIVE stretch and doesnt fit with what the other instances seem to be representing. her waving at gummigoo MAYBE but the image just really isnt present in the episode, looking at it realistically) but im thinking about this...... cus i feel like its probably notable in the dream sequence in ep 2 that its her arm that gets all fucked up

honestly this is the funniest possible way to bring charity back into the narrative. she's having an unrelated conversation in a bar, sees the plot walking in the door, and ditches her date without anything else said. masterful. wonderful. i hope she doesn't show up again and this is legitimately the last we see of her.

in the finale innie and outtie mark are gonna have a conversation and innie mark is gonna be like “how could you curse me to this torturous existence” and outtie mark is gonna be like “listen… have you ever felt grief? bone-deep, soul-crushing grief?” and innie mark is gonna be like “i mean kind of? when my friend petey got fired. but that’s different, he’s not really dead” and outtie mark is gonna be like “let me get you a whiskey before we continue this conversation”

Noticed one thing while replaying all the games and that Elena does not help with the puzzles at all.

Like, take trapped spirits like Alba siblings, Meridia, and Delian in other games for example. These guys give us (player character) hints to solve puzzles. Mia gives hints to Dan in Girl in The Window, and both of them give hints to Ren in Ghost Case, and Meridia and Delian give hints to Adria.

Elena however, we see Elena throughout the game before actually interacting with her and yet she never gives us (Darien) a single hint! She tells us what we are supposed to do but she doesn't help us in finding shit at all. Closest to help we get is her involvement in that puppet puzzle to get the crab claw and even then she isn't helping us, rather questioning us while we solve it!!

Idk i just found this detail really interesting especially from storytelling perspective, biggest hint that she is going to betray Darien. Symbolism or something.
