Bold of you to assume I didn't memorize the definitions of words from the SAT prep book during homeschool highschool
But yes for words I didn't memorize lol
the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.
if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.
#lol#words#i used it for sats#then mom found out our state does acts....#extra prepped except for. science#i got high in english all tests which compensated for my abysmal math bane of my hs existence#sat was 1st timed test i ever did#i guess i can adapr but its stress...#then at college prod asked what a word meant and i said in definition#from what i memorize#what was that--#oh also oxymoron which i knew from studying english#i wasnt a huge fan of english i did all those . diagrams ughoutlines#which is why outlines are a big nono for me#ah the word is latent#not active or developed or visible#esoteric

hi love, i'm requesting 'zipping up their jacket for them' (but it's actually their race suit)
Hiiiiii
Pierre really has no idea what possesses him to take the job.
He works when he wants to work and no more. He posts his silly meal prep videos on Sunday and his workout tip of the week on Wednesday and he goes to spend the weekend with his family whenever he wants, so he has no idea what possesses him to take the job.
Except he does.
Really, deep down. He does know.
He doesn't like to look at it. Or think about it.
It's not something he's ever said out loud, but he knows as soon as his phone rings and he hears Charles' voice, he knows the only reason he agrees is because of the thing.
The being in love with his oldest friend thing.
He has to give up his precious work schedule and his posting schedule and the weekends with his family, but in exchange he gets to watch the man he loves bloom underneath Pierre's very careful, very precise workout plan.
They talk all night on the plane after a bad race - sometimes not even about the race - but Charles will laugh and then the next day, he shows up for their light workout and it all falls away.
It's something Pierre is particularly proud of and it makes the late nights and the lack of personal time worth it.
Because before he took this job, before he said yes to this, Charles used to call him and tell him how much he struggled to put it behind him, how much it would linger.
The triple headers would drag on and on and Charles would call him and he would be suffering and Pierre would try to ease it, but there was only so much he could do from his flat in Milan, but now...
More than halfway through the season and there's a rhythm to the weekend - to Charles climbing into the car before the GP.
They've talked about it over and over, worked on Charles' mental state, talked about what Pierre can do to make it as smooth as possible.
They talk about it while Charles has his feet in Pierre's lap on the plane, while Charles is stretched out on a mat in the gym, while the two of them run side by side on the track.
What they don't talk about it how to make Pierre's mental state better, how to help him handle it.
Because he'll never admit this to anyone - especially not Charles - but he stopped watching the race live. Not after he was sitting above Ferrari hospitality and watched Charles slam into the wall.
Pierre hadn't been able to breathe until he had watched Charles walking back into the garage, angry and shoulders set into a hard line.
After that it had been too much for him, and so he stopped watching them live until he had been beside Charles on the grid. The cars lined up, Charles with his silly little spray bottle and his headphones and Pierre with the love in his chest and Charles' extra towel.
"Time's up," Pierre says, nudging Charles' arm, holding out Charles' headphone case, already open and waiting for him to deposit his headphones into it. The song is over. Pierre has it down to an exact science and he knows the song is over.
Charles still grumbles about taking them out, but Pierre can see the way it's shifted behind his eyes. It's a habit - the words. Charles is already in the car, he's already checked out of this and into the car.
Pierre tucks the headphone case into his big obnoxious Ferrari branded bag and then he swings it behind his back because Charles is fiddling with his in-ears, making sure they're squashed the right amount.
He reaches over and zips the suit up, two quick tugs, adjusting it over Charles' shoulders while Charles beams at him.
Pierre won't ever admit this either, but he prays when he does it. A remnant of the faith that he has worked hard to cling to in spite of everything.
Keep him safe, bring him back, protect him.
It's selfish, but he does it. Keep him safe, one tug, bring him back, two tugs, protect him, velcro piece at Charles' throat.
"Calamar," Pierre says, his voice always catching as he holds his fist out for Charles to bump.
"Calamar," Charles echoes.
People are scattering, drivers are in cars, and Pierre has to go.
He has to go and watch from the garage with everyone else, and if he's lucky, he'll get to zip up Charles' race suit next weekend and three weekends from now and five weekends from now.

🍠 harvesting sweet potatoes 🍠

this was my second year growing potatoes, but my first year growing sweet potatoes specifically. when i grew normie potatoes, i ended up with less than what i put in the ground... that's how bad it turned out. while researching why i did so badly, i learned sweet potatoes grow totes differently so i decided i would try those this year.
i am very happy i did.

i started off by bringing my teeny tiny harvest basket assuming i did horribly, but after half of the first plant i had to go grab my big boi harvest crate my dad made me. i also found 4 baby carrots that i grew last year during my harvest. ignore those.
prior to harvesting, i turned to the internet out of habit to see what needed to be done. sadly, the internet had varying degrees of how to handle both harvesting and curing potatoes. then i remembered farmer mama used to grow these so i hit her up for the true knowledge. i shall put it here for y'all.

there's no need to wait until first frost, and actually it's prolly not ideal if you wait. it's going to be first frost pretty soonTM so right now is just fine. it's easier to diggie dig if you trim back all the vines first. i did prune back the vines and leaves the deer left for me, and i tossed them in as my first layer of compost for the garlic bed (garlic post soon, i'm running behind on planting them...)

now i can grab on to the neck of the plant and rip it up. totally not morbid to phrase it that way. to say i squeed with joy when i saw large and bountiful potatoes this time is an understatement. hubs was prepping the perennial flower area to plant those plants and he thought i was getting attacked by yellowjackets again. my yipee and my panic screams are the same so i don't blame him.
for digging, since this was in my tall raised bed i just used my arms and hands and dug around. i had my shovel handy, but my acoustic self prefers to use hands for everything, and also because the shovel could pierce the skin of the potatoes. which isn't horrible, but an annoyance and an extra worry when curing so just not worth imo. the potatoes didn't go further than 8 inches below the soil, so no reason to keep digging. you can also tell when the roots get smaller and smaller. i also learned that for sweet potatoes like 90% of the taters are right under that neck, so also no real reason to dig around too much except if you want to find those baby outliers.

so incredibly happy with this harvest 😍❤️🍠
the purpose of me growing these was because, well, why not, but also because i want to offer sweet potato slips at the farmers market next april. i offered only a few this year because i just didn't know what would happen and if i wanted someone else to grow it and see how theirs turned out to compare. why purple? well, why normie???? purple is so much prettier and i'm actually going to focus on a lot of purple produce in 2025 lmao. but i digress.

ok so i hit the tumblr photo limit just from talking about harvesting these gorgeous purple divas therefore i shall do a 2nd post about the curing stage. spoiler alert: i am curing the baby tubers because market slips next year and i washed the big chonkas in my outdoor sink and boiled them immediately.
boiling was a mistake. good news is i learned the kitchen would look pretty with purple floors 🫠 and that if you clean up purple potato water on kitchen floor with clorox bleach that it turns the purple color blue 🫠 i love science.
since i got too overexcited i boiled too much. i saved enough in the fridge to make a sweet potato pie later this week, ate some for dinner, and then froze the rest in ziploc bags. i have a feeling i'll be making multiple purple sweet potato pies this season because why the hell not.
don't worry i'll have photos of the pie when i make it. hehe.
ok chores real quick then on to the next post about curing the potatoes, very important.

tf2 mercs except they’re teaching classes at my high school for no reason whatsoever other than that i’m feeling self-indulgent
Scout:
I know his ass would be a gym teacher
either that or a coach of some kind
health class might work too
i’ve seen teachers teach both so it might work out
he might not be the best teacher though
but the class likes him methinks
Soldier:
he’d be a history buff i think
i can just imagine him teaching US history his own way
barely abiding by the curriculum
i think it’d be a lot more hands-on than most history classes
a lot less written work and a lot more reenactments
because yes
he might also be a coach too
but idk
Pyro:
Financial algebra, statistics, and economics
Demoman:
First thought would be chemistry
but then i was thinking about how he could teach stuff like concert or marching band
i think he’s good with music
not me with the baseless headcanons again
but idc
Heavy
i think he’d be a good English teacher :]
slow-paced, but in-depth
he wouldn’t move on unless everyone got something
i don’t think electronics would be used in his class period
so get ready for some writing
a lot of writing
either that or library science
or Russian (if the school offers it)
Engineer:
okay
engineering is a low hanging fruit
so that’s an option
but have you also considered guitar, geometry (or any core math class really), physical sciences, and/or speech?
i think he could do any of those tbh
he reminds me of my current geometry teacher kinda
he prolly talks to the other math teachers in the hallway about video games and stuff
he’s a dork /affectionate
Medic:
Health, biology, anatomy, sports medicine, forensic science, medical technology, ORCHESTRA
his ass is teaching ALL OF IT
bro has his schedule BOOKED
he’s bouncing around the school
rushing from class to class just like he’s a student himself
he’s an old man, how does he handle it?
cocaine the extra organs he had sewn into himself
how did he pass the background check?
idk
Sniper:
he’s giving substitute teacher
no but imagine your teacher not coming in one day and having fucking MICK MUNDY there instead
he’s either a sub or he teaches stuff like small animal care or herpetology
also SAT prep
i think he’s surprisingly good at taking tests
Spy:
i think he teaches piano
and choir
and theatre
bro is stressed out bc these are such performance-heavy classes
but it’s his fault for taking up all these classes
maybe he needs a bit of Medic’s help with management
he’s out for a couple days and winds up with a bunch of extra organs

s'ébahir
Gojo x reader Modern, College AU!
s'ébahir - (French; to be amazed, to be astounded, dumbstruck)
2k smth words
He always strolled into lab characteristically late. You envied his nonchalance, his stance of ease in which he would stroll into the lab and set his stuff down when the professor just began their lecture on the hazards you'd be dealing with today.
annoying
You were always early. Anxiously waiting for your seat so you could prep early and leave before the rest of your classmates.
The bastard was also, unfortunately, handsome. Devilishly tall with a lean build and white hair, he was a stark contrast against some of his fellow students.
"--it is IMPERTINENT that you wear your goggles the entire time during this lab. We will be dealing with concentrated hydrochloric acid--"
you droned out your teachers voice. Unlike some of the other students, you had read the lab manual the night before and watched a video on how to do everything correctly.
This wasn't your first rodeo.
Somewhat bored, your eyes drifted back to the male that was sitting across from you. The fume hood that was connected to your countertop obscured the view a bit, but you caught a glimpse of him leaning against it, head in his hand.
He seemed as bored as you were.
"Alright, lets begin!" An enthusiastic clap sounded.
You had noticed his hesitancy with the lab goggles each time. He chronically wore sunglasses indoors during class and around campus. But when it came to lab, your prof made no exceptions.
Tugging the too tight safety goggles over your eyes, you managed a glance to find startling azure ones starting back at you.
You smiled politely and turned to grab your equipment.
"Hey."
You glanced up at Gojo, who was leaning against your bench.
"What did you need this time?"
Gojo had a knack of stealing your shit since his tended to be always (coincidentally) misplaced or lost. He blamed Geto for it.
"Do you have an extra ring clamp? Geto took mine," he shrugged nonchalantly. You nodded and handed over the item, focusing back on your work.
"Do you know how much your putting in?" he leaned in closer, tapping your graduated cylinder with his hand.
"I can read fine enough Gojo."
"Are you sure? The lab manual said 12 mls...you wrote down 21"
Shit. He was right, you must've copied it down wrong last night.
It was slightly infuriating how sharp he actually was. He had such a lazy demeanor it was easy to forget he tended to be top of the class.
"Ugh, I don't remember how much I've put in it already." you ran your hand through your hair, frustrated as you eye the clock.
The liquid in the flask turned a murky brown, fizzing slightly.
Ok yeah.. that is definitely not what happened in the video.
Gojo leaned over and swirled the flask in his hands, the murky liquid turning darker.
"Yeah, you put way too much into that," he blew out a low whistle.
Fuck. You're going to have to redo the entire thing. Biting your lip, you glance at the clock again.
I'm not going to get a chance to study before my lecture exam...
"Oh come on, just partner up with me," he smirks, nodding towards his bench. "I'll even let you do all the work."
You scowled. You hated partnering up, you ended up doing everything anyway. But you were quick about it on your own.
Looking back towards your failure and the clock, you realize you don't have much of a choice.
"Fine," you nod and walk to his bench. "But lets be as quick as we can."
He grinned.
-
"Alright, now we just have wait."
The worst part about science, you argued, is the "waiting" portion of it.
Some experiments take time. This unfortunately, was one of them.
"We work together pretty well," he leaned forward. "One could almost say we have....chemistry."
You cringed as he laughed at your response. "Hilarious, Gojo."
A shadow loomed over you. "Did he get you with some of his science lines?"
You smiled. Contrary to Gojo, Geto was more composed and studious as you were. You both talked often, considering you had a lot of the same classes as him.
"It was too good not to!" Gojo replied, spinning around in his chair.
You rolled your eyes, glancing back towards your glassware. Geto was easy to be around, he was calm and didn't try to get a rise out of you like his white-haired friend did. He made you a little more nervous, he was kind of unpredictable. Not to mention pretty.
"I think its done," you pointed to the bubbling flask.
Geto nodded to you, "good luck then."
You smiled back at him, pretending not to feel your blue-eyed partner staring at you.
-
Gojo
He doesn't know why he wants to fluster you. Or why it grates on his nerves that you can so easily smile at Geto when you seemed to struggle around him.
Technically, your experiment earlier would have been salvageable. Yeah, your yield would've been low, but he jumped at the chance to work with you without thinking.
He meant what he said earlier, you both worked surprisingly well together.
Taking the flask from you, he began to dry as you washed everything up. He didn't quite want to be done just yet, labs weren't his favorite part but he found himself looking forward to this one.
Not that it had anything to do with you.
Geto always argued that he was "just into you" but he didn't agree. He just thought your intellect was interesting, that's all.
It had nothing to do with the way you always showed up with enthusiasm, drawing him in as he watched you be engaged with your work. He couldn't wonder why--
"Gojo?" Bright eyes looked up at him as you waved the last Erlenmeyer in front of his face. "Hey, we're done."
Startled, he nearly dropped the thing he was drying. "Right, yeah. See you around, then."
He cursed himself slightly for his cowardice.
"Well, actually, did you want to finish up the lab report quick ? We have plenty of time," you looked at your phone as you said it.
Realistically, he would say no. He doesn't finish his reports until the last minute anyway.
But to get the chance to fluster you more.
Ah, hell. Why not?
"yeah, we can do that." He shrugged nonchalantly. Geto met his gaze across the lab and quirked an eyebrow at him.
He bared his teeth in response.
"Should we go to the library then?" Your voice cut through his thoughts, catching him unawares as you shoved the paper into his hands.
He nodded quickly, fishing around in his backpack for his glasses as he ripped off the goggles still glued to his face.
He motioned for you to go first, following behind and out of the lab as he let you pick where to sit down.
You picked a spot across the campus cafe, he inwardly wondered if you came to study here frequently. Th atmosphere was quiet and there was a lot of natural light that made it easy to relax and focus.
Setting down his bookbag, he tuned into your ramblings about the lab.
"What do you think about the yield? I think we could base our conclusions around it. Maybe even mention the slight color difference when we added the--"
Your drive to finish this was commendable. He was put off a bit by how you didn't seem affected by him at all. Most people saw his sunglasses as odd, and honestly the general consensus was that he was constantly nursing a hangover.
There was a lapse of silence and you both typed away on your laptops, broken up by only you saying:
"Why do you wear those sunglasses all the time?"
Eyebrows raised, "Secret." The corner of his lip turned up.
"Is it because of your eyes?"
His smirk fell. It wasn't so much that he cared about how his eyes seemed to freak people out. It was more about how sensitive they were to light and packed spaces. He used to get frequent headaches because of it, but the glasses thwart off the edge enough now.
He merely shrugged in response to your question. "The light bugs my eyes sometimes."
You nodded back in understanding, "Ugh, tell me about it. I used to get migraines from the fluorescent lights when I was younger."
He stiffened. Such a minute detail, but he couldn't help but consider the gesture as an act of empathy. Seeing past his usual charm.
You both fell back into silence, quickly finishing your report and hoping off of the chair you inhabited just moments ago.
He felt his heart pound as you smiled up at him, watching your every movement as you threw your bag over your shoulder and made to leave.
"We finished that quick! Good luck on this exam later, not that you'll need it."
His arm burned from where you patted his shoulder as you strode out of the cafe lounge and towards some other study zone. Glancing down at it, he almost expected it to catch fire.
Eyes flicking up over his glasses, he looked down the hallway you had left.
Damn.
He might just have to make your lab fail next time.

you should use this ask to talk about 1961 Otto :]{
YAAAY
so. all my favourite ocks have the arms be a sort of reflection of otto’s fatal flaw (with exception to olivia just bc we don’t really get to hear how or why she invented her arms)
- raimi otto’s arms appeal to his ego and hubris and convince him he couldn’t have been wrong
- spectacular otto’s arms give him the power he always craved to fight back against norman and become the bully instead of the bullied
- ps4 otto’s arms aren’t uniformly designed for the good of mankind, they’re designed for himself above all else and are just extensions of the selfish and paranoid person he’s become
and so on and so forth. so for MY otto, he’s a science teacher who was never able to settle down with anyone or have kids but he’s always REALLY wanted a family and that’s kinda why he puts up with the teaching job y’know? because all these kids are kinda like his kids, at least for a year or so. but at the end of the day they have their real guardians to go back to, and they all graduate eventually and stop visiting. so he kinda gets lonelier specifically because he won’t admit to himself that that’s what he’s doing (seeking out companionship).
so then peter parker comes along and he has him as a student for even longer than normal thanks to pete taking some early high school prep classes and he’s there for may when ben dies and everything, pete really sees him as a father figure and he’s pretty much become part of the family! but then peter’s senior year comes along. and that means he’s gonna have to graduate.
peter is struggling with this on his own, he doesn’t want everything to change and for him to lose the place that’s been his life for 4 years, little does he know otto is ALSO panicking because his basically-son is gonna graduate and move on and forget all about him!! and he’s freaking out. but again we see 1961 otto’s flaw of gaining something personally via hiding his intentions, he doesn’t want to tell peter and may that he sees them as family because what if they don’t see him like that? he just wants EVERYTHING TO STAY THE EXACT SAME WITH NO CHANGE SO HE FEELS IN CONTROL OF THE SITUATION.
but of course he keeps panicking and instead of the “risky” option of telling peter and may, he decides that “hey, if they leave and forget about me, then i can just make myself a backup! i’ll pour my heart and soul into making these robotic arms that i’ll SAY are for people who live alone who need extra help like the elderly, but are actually for me so i can simulate companionship!” (again, being duplicitous about what he wants by pretending it’s for a different reason than it actually is!) but of course, at the oscorp inventor’s expo he brings the arms to, he suffers a terrible accident and they get fused to him, ai and all
so obviously since otto’s greatest wish was for a family who he could control, when the arms gain sentience and start speaking to him (because come on i had to that’s such a great idea for the arms) it’s not in a “no inhibitor chip now i’m following their programming” way it’s a “hello dad it’s us, Your Children :)” way. the accident increased all of their violent tendencies by tenfold and made them all a bit cuckoo, so otto decides once he’s off of bed rest, that “hey! i know how i can stop peter’s graduation! he can’t graduate if the ceremony just never happens, right?!” (desperate actions of a control freak, you understand) so he attacks the graduation ceremony and peter has to save his classmates including flash. well, that plan failed, but y’know what? otto’s OTHER kids aren’t attacking him anyways! hmph! so he disappears into the night, becoming spider-man’s nemesis, doc ock
all of that was for the “graduation day” arc of my au, the rest of my au takes place after a timeskip when pete’s an adult working at the bugle! so when we zero back in on otto, we see he’s learned nothing and gotten even Worse. he starts his own villain team, the sinister six, but how he recruits each member is that they’re suffering, usually from their own backstory stuff, and he helps them back onto their feet so now they adore him and see him as their caretaker! and they’re all one big family, don’t you think? doc ock DEFINITELY ISNT LYING ABOUT WHY HE’S SAVING THESE SUPERVILLAINS AGAIN.
you can see that throughline in their recruitment order too, we go from electro to vulture to sandman, each who fell victim to horrific accidents or unethical experiments, then you have mysterio, whose only wound is his ego after he got fired, and then the final member is norman osborn himself, the green goblin, who was indirectly responsible for a lot of their backstories. but otto takes in norman saying “oh well he’s just like us, he’s wounded, we must turn the other cheek and take care of him” when really he knows norman is full of shit, doing this goblin thing for personal gain and is entirely in control of his actions, and is lying about it by pretending that it’s an “evil dark entity taking over me” situation. but norman has power and influence and otto needs that influence. also they have a bit of a weird gay thing. so otto plays along with norman’s ruse
ANYWAYS YEAH that’s my otto for you! his arc ends with my own version of superior spider man where otto finally realizes how terrible he’s been to peter and everyone around him by being forced to see the world through eyes that aren’t his :) he and peter make up by the time my miles morales arc starts. he’s such a weirdo i love him. he needs to get therapy!

2025.02.11. tue. donation attempt
pls pls pls let the plasma donation happen today lol i need to buy cat food for norbert and this past week's illness messed up mah budget _(_^_)_
update: after being deferred for having my protein levels 0.1 high out of the allowable band. (hematocrit was perfect and plasma was clear) GFDI :/ i came home and ate an entire bag of trail miX WITH AN ENTIRE PACK OF M&Ms added and chased it with A BIG MUG OF TEA WITH MILK. then for dinner i had microwaved pizza rolls dipped in ranch and served with potato chips& extra slices of sharp white cheddar. ffs. i rejected all dairy all day long on mon Except FOR 8 miserly ounces of milk FOR FUCKING NOTHING BUT WASTED GAS MONEY bc apparently i ate too much goddamn tuna salad for fucking lunch yesterday??? jfc. i was so excited to do the "donate plasma and get some easy cash" thing. but this has actually been extremely stressful even tho i've been trying to minimize that by treating it as an extended science experiment. fml.
so tmrw is gonna be another prep day. and i'm gonna try for exactly the same consumption plan as mon. minus half the tuna i guess???
#norbert#food diary#journaling#personal story#long post#well. when I get a chance to update it with today's actual food diary lol

A full day today, so I figured it might be fun to write up what a professor's day might look like when not lecturing!
6:30AM: Got up early to virtually attend a friend's wedding on the East Coast! <333
8:00AM: I have been very careful this quarter to shuffle lectures/meetings around so that I have a little time to myself in the mornings to sit at home and drink coffee and eat breakfast and pet a cat while I get the day's work started. No exception today! I pull up an application my PhD student has been putting together for a tech grant and use the proverbial red pen to make some (a lot of) comments. It looks good overall, though! I send him a note to encourage him to send it to our collaborator in the computer science department when he's done with edits. Monday's the deadline, we gotta get moving on this.
9:00AM: I load up a bag with books I keep putting off taking to my office, plus some extra Halloween candy I found to add to my office candy bowl, and head out to take the bus in to campus. Also, pet the cat goodbye (she is unconcerned).
9:45AM: At the office, books and candy put away! Time to prep for my first meeting, which is a committee meeting with someone else's PhD student. He struggled a bit with a recent exam (entirely his advisor's fault, but that's a different story), so we're reconvening as a group to see his progress and cheer him on. He sent an update document, so I run through that and take a few notes. Then it's responding to e-mails (setting up my participation in a federal review panel next year, responding to two prospective graduate students interested in working with me - the combo of a fun research topic and a beautiful campus means I'm now up to 20 inquiries so far this quarter, eep - and sending out an update to the department about the charitable giving opportunities I'm coordinating).
10:30AM: Great presentation by the PhD student about all the things he's done since our last meeting back in April-ish. He's made huge changes to his work, and we applaud (literally and figuratively) how much he's accomplished in such a short time. Also, amazing data visualization! Great work all around. He's set to defend his PhD by 2025 at this rate, definitely back on track.
11:30AM: Time to rush back to my office to meet with my own PhD student! We usually meet on Fridays, but we get tomorrow off for the holiday so we jumped the meeting back. He's a few minutes late due to a missed bus, so my next-door colleague and I talk about cats for a few minutes. As you do. When he does arrive, he's got some cool stuff to show me - we talk about the notes I made on his grant application, and I remind him (and myself) to book flights to a conference in December that is rapidly approaching somehow. (I guess this means I have to do some cool and innovative research before then that I can talk about. Go figure.) He also shows me some cool preliminary results from a project he's been doing with a friend out in Pennsylvania. He's late enough in his PhD that my role as advisor is primarily to get out of his way and make sure he has enough supercomputer core-hours to get his work done!
12:30PM: A break for me! I start in on e-mail again, sending a coordinator my bio and abstract for a talk I've been invited to give (virtually, thankfully) at a student conference in January. I also realize that, because of the break tomorrow, I should really put together a homework assignment and next week's lectures for the class I teach Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Hmmm. I dig through last year's lectures and assignments and realize they've gotten a little out of sync this year. The solution? I may just offer 5 instead of 6 assignments over these ten weeks and give them this one a week later. Class average has been extremely high on them, and I think the students will appreciate a bit of a break. Also means today's job is just to prepare a few lectures based on last year's material. I've got a big chunk of open time later this afternoon to deal with course stuff, so back to e-mail. Going to be joining a friend (who I can't help but think of as the undergrad who sat in during all my grad classes, but is now somehow a full research scientist) on a very cool project putting together a new thunderstorm dataset. Also reached out to another friend about setting up biweekly meetings to hopefully start a new research collaboration and... possibly some fieldwork! I also almost forgot to put a forecast together for our forecasting competition, but I got there in time. Phew.
1:30PM: Meeting with a colleague and the undergrad research intern we co-supervise who is sadly having to leave to go attend school closer to home. This meeting is mostly just us reinforcing to her that we're still here if she needs advice/reference letters or ever wants to work on a similar project with us remotely in the future, but we are going to continue with the research until the end of the quarter, at her request. After the meeting, I get an e-mail about another undergraduate looking for a research project! I present her with the options of a cool lightning project with my colleague next door (waiting to hear back about federal funding for that project, fingers crossed) and that other cool thunderstorm project led by my friend in Oklahoma.
2:30PM: Seminar time! A very cool freshly-minted PhD from California tells us all about her research, a complicated topic about which I knew very little going in and now know... slightly more. There was a very geeky moment in which she showed what happened to a particular part of the climate system when CO2 was added, then showed what happened when CO2 was removed, and the asymmetry of it made everyone in the room gasp and then self-consciously giggle.
4:00PM: Post-seminar snacks acquired (a big cookie and coffee are definitely a good late lunch, right? I kid, I kid, I had a big breakfast and have a big dinner waiting at home) and small-talk survived, I scramble back up to my office. Time to get those lectures ready for next week (pretty quick to do - rather than last year, where I'd show the code on the screen and we'd talk about it, I'm having us write the code together live and debug as we go; harder in the moment for me, but the students are learning so much better!). Get an e-mail back from the new undergrad research intern expressing interest in the lightning project, amazing! Time to get her registered so she gets credit for this starting in January. Also finally get a teensy bit more editing done on a draft of a review article that one of the top scientific journals in the world tapped me to write (???? still surreal beyond measure).
5:30PM: BAND PRACTICE. Our department is so nerdy that the faculty/staff/postdocs/grad students put together a giant band to perform popular songs but as covers so we can make the lyrics about our nerdy research. This tradition has been going on for 30+ years, and the big performance is for an hour at our holiday party every year. It's a riot, and this is my first year joining in the chaos (I'm on keys on three songs!). There are like 25 of us, we have a horn section, a professor plays the mandolin, the students create elaborate musical roasts of their professors, it's great. My parts go great, to the point where when there's some trouble with key drift during an a capella part they call me in to play chords under it and keep them grounded. I love playing music with other people!
7:00PM: Time to pack up and head home for dinner. Phew.
Long day, but also LONG WEEKEND BAYBEE. I don't actually have to do any substantial work this weekend, so that means BALDUR'S GATE WEEKEND BAYBEE.

Hey girl I'm about to have my first batch of finals this year what are your tips for surviving? I feel so confused on the best ways to prepare 😭😭 thanks 🙏
omg as a self proclaimed academic weapon whose current projected GPA range for the end of semester is 3.9 - 4.0 and who went to a college prep high school i feel like i have finals/midterms down to a science
I have some general finals steps and then some even more general advise where I expand on the tips below the cut. I got kind of carried away😭 pls let me know if you need me to expand on anything
Step 1. List out everything that's due (all projects, essays, and exams) in order of when they're do. If multiple things are due the same day, order them from the assignment you're least confident in to the assignment you're most confident in.
Step 2. Personalize your schedule. Half the battle of finals is a mental game bc it's easy to see all the things you have to do and freeze bc it feels like nothing's going to get done or that you'll be working every second of the day until finals end. If you break your assignments into blocks/chunks, you'll still be able to take small breaks and feel less overwhelmed.
So like if you have 3 essays and 2 tests within two to three days of each other, tell yourself you'll write 2 essays and study for one test on the first day or that you'll write one essay everyday and study on the last two days. If that makes sense lol.
this doesn't mean to over schedule your life!! i don't write out time stamps for every break, i just like to do assignments a day or two in advance so that I can take breaks if that makes sense.
Step 3. Do your projects/essays first. I've always been someone that likes doing projects before studying for tests. Because projects/essays are something that have tangible ends,, you'll feel a lot more productive/better getting those out of the way. The exception to this is if you have a big test coming that's before your essays/project, study first lol.
Step 4. Make study guides. Ik it's annoying, but you're more likely to study more if you have a cheat sheet you can just look over. More on this in general advise.
-- This is just general advice. ---
Tip 1. Study guides are life savers. It's one thing to have all of your notes, but typing/writing everything you need so that it's in one place makes it so much easier to take advantage of small moments. I do best on tests when I make my study guide in advanced and then just reread it a bunch the night before and then right before the test.
If it's a harder topic with more information and you think you need more time with the info, I still think a study guide is a great way to just have something that you can look at whenever you have a a few minutes. You're more likely to study more when you have something that you can just pull out and read a few times than if you just have miscellaneous notes you have to waste time looking for/gathering.
Tip 2. Plan/accept study breaks. Sometimes you just need to do something else. It feels like you're wasting time, but if you're super tired/overwhelmed, you're definitely not working efficiently, so if your body is telling you to walk around for a little or scroll on your phone for fifteen minutes or do something else to mentally get away, accept it.
Tip 3. Don't fall for the 11:59 trap. This might just be bc I'm a night person so I do a lot of homework late at night, but I think knowing something is due at midnight adds some extra stress. It makes it harder to take breaks and gets more overwhelming bc the deadline is right there.
I like to make the day before the 11:59 deadline my personal deadline. Ofc there are exceptions to this, like if the assignment is smaller,, like a discussion post or just answering some homework questions, and you know it won't take up your entire day and you'll have time, it's okay to leave it. Especially if you have larger assignments or other things to study for.
Tip 4. Do the harder assignments first. This may be personal preference, but I always do the more draining assignments first. This doesn't always mean the longest/objectively the hardest. Sometimes it's just getting your least favorite/worst subject out of the way so that you can check it off your list.
Tip 5. Personal reward system. This is why it's good to have hobbies! it's not a good idea to make needs rewards, like food/water and bathroom breaks,, please don't do that!!
but the amount of times i've told myself that if i finish/get to a certain point in an assignment i can go onto tumblr and read a fic is insane 😭
small rewards like that that are just fun are super helpful,, so if you have any hobbies that are like reading, scrolling on your phone, watching a certain show, etc,, you can use that to motivate you as long as you can quantify it.
Like don't say you can scroll on your phone as a reward unless you're done for the day, say you can scroll on your phone for X amount of time so that it doesn't take up the entire day,, if that makes sense lol
that's why i tend to like other rewards better, because phones aren't set up to have a natural, satisfying end. But if you tell yourself that you can watch an episode of a TV show or read a specific fic or read a chapter of a book,, you'll feel better when it's over. That's more of a personal opinion though.
sorry for how long this is 😭i hope it helps

Fuck it, we vent. That's what I made the account for (besides sharing my OC metaverse), right?
I recently graduated high school, but unlike most Americans my age, I actually went to five different schools. My parents work for the foreign service, so I never really stayed anywhere that long. Tenth grade was my first time being in a school with actual people besides my siblings for the first time in two years, since I had gone into homeschooling (kinda) for 8th grade and then...well...COVID was with me for all of 9th grade.
Needless to say, it was a big moment, and in addition to all the friends I made that first year, I also discovered something every young man should have the honor and pleasure of experiencing at least once:
Attractive people the same age as you that you're friends with.
I had a few friends like that my first year, two girls and a guy (yeah we Pan with this one). The guy was in the year above me though, and moved away after the first year. That was rough, and the first girl...well, we just ended up being friends. There wasn't enough middle ground for me to really engage. But the third one...let's call her Katy.
Katy was kind, strong of character, beautiful, and had a fanTAStic singing voice. She was in my band class and PE, and sat at the group table. In the first year, I asked her to the Valentine's dance, at which point I ran into my first emotional red flag (again, this was more of a red flag for my own health, rather than a reflection of her personality, because she [while not perfect] was amazing): she was already in love with my best friend.
Now ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem, but my best friend was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, and his father...wasn't exactly a fan of the idea of him dating. I mean, I don't blame Katy, (we'll call him) Don was a strapping young man who was witty, fit, did bikes and woodcarving for fun, and always walked with a little swagger in his step, but not in a cocky way. More like a "life's going great and there's nothing you can do about it" way. You know the type. He also whistles in-tune, which is a feat in and of itself, but that's besides the point.
So there we were, caught in this awkward high school love triangle bullshit. And despite all evidence to the contrary, my heart still belonged to Katy. I couldn't help it. I had fallen hard, I was down bad, and there was no getting back up. This was an entirely new feeling, and it was crazy! Poets and writers often compair love to flames, and I had always been skeptical of that description until it actually HIT me full-force and I was like "holy shit they were right!!" This went on for about the rest of the school year, but I succeeded in not letting my love for Katy get in the way of our friendship.
And then Don announced that he was leaving.
Y'see, Don was also a foreign service kid, and his post time had started two years before mine. Since the place we were living was a 3-year post, my first was his last. Understandably, Katy and I were sad, her maybe a little (lot) moreso. And I still feel disgusted with myself to this day, but some small, envious part of me fueled a black hope that now that Don was out of the way I could take a proper shot at Katy. And you know the damnedest thing?
It was right.
11th grade rolls around, the guy is gone and the other girl is dating another classmate (I don't really care at that point, like I said before it wouldn't have worked out). Katy and I are getting along fine, with the exception that now I'm not in band class, because I've started doing the two-year college prep program they had, and that means I can't do the school-funded extra classes like band or computer science, or PE. But despite that, I still found and made time to talk to and hang out with Katy. Eventually, I almost felt like she was warming up to me, since our brief exchanges of physical contact were increasing in frequency.
There's three things we need to acknowledge before we move forwards though:
1. Katy was Asexual
2. One of my primary love languages is physical touch.
3. The FUCKING NEW GUY.
Listen chat, I knew I was cooked when Katy TOLD me that they had KNOWN EACH OTHER from a different POST. Now at first it didn't seem like a huge problem, but I was still wary. Life was good though, and there weren't any clouds on the horizon. Then I made some bad decisions I probably shouldn't've made, and that came crashing down. I was too short-sighted, and even though I never asked or confirmed anything, I still think about the moment that Katy found out, and can't help but feel I betrayed her in some way. The worst part is I never even apologized.
That was right before winter break of 11th grade. When we got back, in the first week during lunch (because we always stood together in the lunch line) Katy tells me she's dating The New Guy.
And then my world dropped out from under me.
I had sort of seen this coming, but to have my anxieties confirmed in the worst way possible was not helping my mental state, which was already sort of stressed from the college classes.
And despite all that, I still loved her.
I was a fool.
They dated for a few months before breaking up, and The New Guy dumped HER, his reason being he just "didn't love her anymore." Now I know that under normal circumstances that would be a normal excuse, but ofc me being me I was outraged.
So being the lovesick idiot I am, I thought that if I simply rode this out I could score points. Instead, she only became more isolated and distant from everyone, at least for the rest of the semester. I tried to talk to her about it, but after a certain point I recognized that prodding would only make it worse.
Senior year, and I was seeing less and less of her and more and more of my work. I spent almost no time of the breaks outside the classroom where before I would actively look for her and walk her to class (something she vocally appreciated). I still stood with her in the lunch line, but as the gap between when I arrived at the mess and when she arrived at the mess widened, even that dropped away.
And I still. Loved her. Glimpses or short conversations were the highlight of my day, but we had so little middle ground at this point that they were always painfully short. Eventually I even just stopped engaging entirely, settling for a wave. Then one day while doing art for my final exhibition (minimum of 4 art pieces, I was doing 6 but it was technically 8 because the final piece was a triptych), this song (the song from the beginning of the post, remember that??) came one. Well, rather it was the Good Kid cover. I wasn't even aware that it was a cover, it sounded so much like Good Kid 😂
"What's a girl to do?"
That line resonated with me, for some reason. I mean the whole song sent me into a feels-spiral that almost had me in tears in the middle of class, but that line touched me in particular, and I think it was because it was a question, and it also implies that the singer (and by association me) is in a helpless situation. But I wasn't. If I couldn't be her lover, then I was gonna be her friend and bury my love deep down inside and try to ignore it (I couldn't, but it helped). I re-engaged in all the old things, and just generally tried to build that bridge again. By the time the second semester rolled around, it was like night and day, and I was in tenth grade again.
And then senior prom.
For context, the school had two major dances: the winter formal, and prom. At each previous exchange, we had always danced l, so I always looked forwards to the major events. The highest my love ever felt, the brightest I ever burned, was always in those two minutes where I could hold her with music, and enjoy the two things I loved most deeply in the world at the same time. But senior prom was different...from the start (pfft- I'm sorry 😂). For one, I was FINALLY involved in theme picking, since as a senior we were allowed to give the prom committee ideas, and were the ultimate democratic judge of the party's theme. It ended up being "starry night," which I think was named for space, not the Van Gough painting, but even if it was, I wanted to go with space anyway. As a result, I wanted to do something bold, go out with a bang. I was gonna dye my hair.
Now some of you reading may be going "whoa, so dramatic!!" but for me it was a pretty big deal. It was something I had always teetered on the edge of, but had never really quite gotten around to doing it. Add that on to the fact that every person with dyed hair/hair stylist that spoke English I ever met always told me that my shade of blonde was PERFECT for dying hair, and you'd have thought that I would've done it sooner. There was one problem though: the country I was living in had basically no FUN hair dye. What dye they did have was hard to find and only in normal hair colors. I wanted SPACE hair. That meant (for me) blue, purple, and red. It was mock exam season when I told Katy my plan, and both mock exam season and normal exam season are both off-timetable, so if you didn't have a test, you didn't need to come to school. That effectively meant that there were some days that it was just Katy and I at the table, and it was one of those days that she spoke an arrangement of words that threw senior pr into a whole new light.
"We could do it together!"
I struggled very hard to keep my cool for the rest of the conversation. Her sister (who had graduated last year) would be in town at the time of prom, so she could bring colors from the US. Great! And then the plan was set: I would go to her house to get ready, we would get our hair dyed, and then her mom (who was my guidance counselor, college coach, and also just a good friend at this point) would drive us to prom.
UNDERSTANDABLY, I WAS FREAKING OUT JUST A LITTLE BIT.
My biggest question was "is this a date," and after consulting with my sibling (who happens to be on this platform but whom I will not out) we decided that while it might look that way, she probably didn't consider it that. It was SOMETHING, but it was too little too late, and not enough.
Mocks came and went. Real exams came and went.
Small anecdote: while I was chilling for the first week of final exams (because the classes I picked got me NO EXAMS THE FIRST WEEK, HAHA), I got a text from my sibling saying that Katy had sat down at their table, and had said the words "I feel so lost without [MEEEEEE]!" I had originally not been coming to school because the food at home was simply better, but after that I started waking up at 6:45 to get to the 7:20 bus again like everyone else in my house. Worth it.
So anyway, prom day arrives. I had roller hockey the same day, so they let me use their shower before I got dressed. My dad had paid for a fitted suit, so I was pretty dripped out. We dyed hair before dressing, her all blue and me...well, all the colors 😂
Once I was dressed Katy disappeared and I took the opportunity to pounce upon their full-size keyboard like an eager child (as I had done every time I was at their house. My keyboard is missing a full octave on each end, and it can be painful sometimes to miss a piece by ONE FUCKING NOTE). I played Once Upon a Time and Fallen Down by Toby Fox, and then I played Zelda's Lullaby. And then I played the title theme from OMORI. I couldn't help but feel like my hands were trying to tell me something...and then Katy came out in her dress and my mind pulled a blank. She really was a rare creature.
So we went to prom, and we danced, and we partied, and it was fun!
And then the slow dance. That was the most perfect moment of my life, and it continues to go unmatched, because we sang. Together. One of my secret hopes and dreams had come true at the height of my emotional vulnerability, and it was perfect. Ever since I heard her being the first time, I had always wanted to sing together. She was a beautiful soprano, like silk ribbons. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm a pretty mean baritone/tenor when I want to be, and I'm that moment I wanted to. The song, I will not disclose. It was a moment for her and I, and you were not present nor were you invited.
After the slow dance, I asked her if she knew a song by the name of From the Start by Good Kid, as kind of a one-off question. To my surprise, she answered yes, but not by Good Kid. Then she took my outside away from the crowd noise, and sang the original, and that's when I cried.
Not long after I graduated, and not long after that the last day of school rolled around and we said goodbye. After three years of being quiet, I finally told her I loved her, in no uncertain terms. She said she knew, and I already knew she knew, but I wanted to say it. Just once.
After that I saw her for the last time, and boarded the bus. At that point, all the going-away parties and whatnot had already happened so it really was the last time we would ever see each other.
"But what about social media," you might be asking. And while it's true I do have means of contacting her...I don't want to. This love was...deep, and dismantling it and moving on will take time. Holding onto the connection will only make that harder, and I told her all this at the bus lot, and she understood. She still reached out back in July, but I only replied in very brief (but friendly) messages. I also reiterated my no-contact decision, and I haven't heard anything since.
And now, finally, we arrive back at the song at the top of the post. A random recommendation by YouTube, but a beautifully funded version of both the original and GK cover of From the Start, and as I listened mine and Katy's relationship flashed before my eyes, and suddenly all the feels were back.
What's the moral? Don't wait. Go get 'em. The worst they can do is say no and then, at least, you don't have to live in uncertainty.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Good night.

Kisekae Insights #32: My Little Pony Part 2 (Jee Gun and Storm Dasher – Equestria Girls)

(A story in 4 slides – original text removed and recreated for optimised picture format)
Back when my personal project got going, I was creating self-insert OCs for the shows I adapted into it. My Little Pony is no exception. Following on from Doctor Whooves and the Pony Doctor were Jee Gun and Storm Dasher; Storm Dasher underwent major evolutions as the years passed while Jee Gun went forgotten until Equestria Girls gave the perfect opportunity for him to be reintroduced before later making his way back into the main universe.
Chris-chan does get his five extra seasons of Friendship is Magic, but it’s heavily mired in tokusatsu. Regardless, settle in for the ride.
World of Equestria Girls – Minato-Sugaru Island

Before I talk about Jee Gun and Storm Dasher I want to talk about the setting for Equestria Girls in my personal project. Chris-chan believed that Canterlot High was located in either Foggy Bottom, Maryland (Sonichu 12-9) or Baltimore (Twitter, possibly due to BronyCon being held there yearly). I don’t agree with either; the Equestria Girls universe is located in a different place known as Minato-Sugaru Island (港携島, the 携 kanji as in “mobile phone” 携帯 is never pronounced as すがる according to the dictionaries but Google Translate and JMnedict seem to have it as a reading when used in names, like university professor Sugaru Hiramatsu).
I’m not good at drawing maps, so I’ll try to describe the island as best as I can. The island is split between the Minato and Sugaru sides by the Ziyu River (子瑜河). The main city of the southern Minato side is Shokatsu City (諸葛市), which is also the island’s capital city, while the main city of the northern Sugaru side is Canterlot City (written in Kanji as 歩馬城 but pronounced as キャンタロット). Think of it as like Macau but with smaller bridges. Kōmei Bay (孔明湾) is located to the south of the island.
The main districts of the island are as below, along with some of the notable locations in each district:
Canterlot City (歩馬城/キャンタロットシティ)
Takaseki-ku (高席区) – Sci-Twi’s house, Crystal Prep Academy
Kenen-ku (軒轅区) – Jee Gun/Sunset Shimmer’s apartment, Antique Shop Omokagedo, Suishiryō Athletics Field (named after the Chu Shi Biao)
Kanmyōji-ku (関廟寺区) – Sweet Apple Acres (Applejack’s house/entrance to the Rabbit Hutch), Guan Yu Temple, abandoned warehouse district
Kiriha-ku (桐葉区) – Canterlot Mall, Schwarzer Magic Café, Carousel Boutique
Kanakura-ku (金倉区) – Mt Kanakura, Canterlot City Science Museum, Planetarium and Observatory
Seia-ku (星亜区) – Canterlot High, Seia Hill, Fluttershy’s house, Dasher Arekawa/Rainbow Dash’s house
The main part of the city is split between Kiriha-ku, Takaseki-ku and Kanakura-ku
Shokatsu City (諸葛市)
Shukuchō-ku (叔長区) – Shokatsu City Town Centre, V city, Minato-Sugaru Central Hospital
Genson-ku (元遜区) – Zhongshen Bridge Coliseum, Minato-Sugaru Police Headquarters, Genson Airport
Bosong-ku (伯松区) – Minato-Sugaru City Hall, Shokatsu Park, Shokatsu Central High School
Jiyū-ku (自由区) – Kōmei Bay Symbol Tower, Waterfront, Beach
Dōmei-ku (道明区) – Nothing of note
Shokatsu City is somewhat based on Tuen Mun in Hong Kong
Other cities and towns
Gongxiu City (公休市) – Futiao Ferry Pier, Ocean Walk
Langya City (琅邪市) – 9TO5, Pegasus Gentlemen’s Club
Jungong City (君貢市) – Quarries, Mt Jungong
Wolonggang (臥龍崗町) – Wolonggang Academy
The multi-coloured natives living on Minato-Sugaru Island are the Sugamina or the Suganuma, depending on whether you are on the Minato or Sugaru sides of the island. Until recent years, Minato-Sugaru Island was an unofficially recognised Commonwealth external territory and transport in and out of the island required government approval. This was because there were fears that immigration in and out of the island would cause unwanted racial tensions. I mean, just look at all the skin colours of the Sugamina/Suganuma living on the island. Of course, the Crystal Mirror is another way in and out of the island, but a side effect is that you would turn from human to pony and vice versa.
The island is a left-wing paradise/centre-left utopia but without all the toxicity of politics in general or left-right resistance, hence there was still room for freedom (with masks) during the coronavirus pandemic. The culture of this island is quite sexually liberated (if Derpibooru is any indication) so the government has spent a substantial amount of money on things related to sexual health. There’s a mish-mash of Eastern and Western culture as well with Chinese and Japanese influence in the names of cities and districts; in fact, a lot of places in the Minato side of the island are named after the Zhuge family tree of Langya.
Initially, it was not stated whether Minato-Sugaru Island was in the same universe as Equestria, so for all anyone knew, it could have been a parallel universe. This would be confirmed in 2018 with the island’s appearance in Kamen Rider Decade. Soulbound Series 3 and 4 would contain stories featuring characters from Equestria Girls, then Kamen Rider Zi-O would be fully set on the island.
Progenitor of Dreams – Jee Gun

Jee Gun is the counterpart of Hiroki Ichigo in Equestria who came into existence as a result of the Fourth Doctor’s explosive regeneration that also created Doctor Whooves and the Pony Doctor. His English name is based on the Cantonese pronunciation of his Chinese name and it is reflected in the Japanese katakana pronunciation. Jee Gun was created as an Earth pony who remained a “blank flank” as he grew up, which was rather stigmatised in Equestria, and became socially awkward as a result.
After being created from the Fourth Doctor's regeneration into the Fifth Doctor, the colt who would become Jee Gun ended up near the village of Sakabakawa in southern Equestria when he was found by an old pony who took him in and raised him as his son. He didn't know many ponies outside of the village because he was shy. When the old pony died, he told Jee Gun to “get out there and meet a few ponies”. He took the money the old pony left him and went off to do just that, settling in Ponyville and making a living for himself while also doing some studying on the side.
Jee Gun’s first and only appearance in Doctor Who was in the Series 3 story Paradox Love Revelation, where he becomes heartbroken after seeing Spike giving a gift to his crush, Rarity, whom he had met at some point during his time in Ponyville (by some miracle). He was found acting strangely by the Doctor, Doctor Whooves and the Pony Doctor before he proceeded to regenerate into a new prototype.
Following his initial appearance in 2012, Jee Gun would appear again the next year in Jee Gun’s Human Nature, created to complement the release of the first Equestria Girls movie. Set twenty moons before his debut, Jee Gun would be sent to the human world to assist Twilight Sparkle in her mission to recover the Element of Magic, but a glitch with the Crystal Mirror causes his memories to be placed in a fob watch. He is then found by Storm Dasher’s counterpart in the human world and various shenanigans ensue. Jee Gun becomes like the Master after opening the fob watch before the ponification of the Humane Six calms him down. Yeah, I don’t understand how I wrote this either. It’s another ripoff of the BBC Series 3 finale.
Another year later, I finally decided to address the question of what happened to Jee Gun after his regeneration by creating Magical Tachibana and writing the pilot for it, but nothing more. As you know, The Tachibana Series is a series whose main protagonists are descended from the namesake family whose ancestors worked in the police force. Magical Tachibana is one of the spinoffs of the series and its protagonist is Yūki Tachibana, a detective from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police who is transferred to the island similar to Death in Paradise.
The Magical Tachibana pilot adapts Deep Breath and also lines up with the release of Rainbow Rocks. Following his regeneration, Jee Gun manifests (as a Sugamina) on one of Princess Celestia’s ships that had just abandoned Hiroki Ichigo during the Ōsaka Campaign (because Celestia believed that it was too late to stop him and his intensifying insanity). He managed to find an escape pod and set off, but it got swung into prehistoric Earth and was eaten by a female T-rex before it got swung to Minato-Sugaru Island in the present day. The Clockwork Droids of the original episode are replaced by the Dazzlings and at the end, Adagio is apparently seen impaled on a building in Bosong-ku, but it is revealed later in Soulbound Series 3 that she either was resurrected or she actually missed being impaled and survived as a result. With the entire case being investigated by the Minato-Sugaru Police’s Special Investigations Unit led by the newly-transfered Yūki Tachibana, Jee Gun is offered to join the SID along with Sunset Shimmer as his informant (they met in an alley where Jee Gun stole Sunset’s jacket off her). In hindsight, given what the world would learn about the police in the coming years, I probably should have done an adaptation of Kamen Rider Fourze instead.
Jee Gun and Equestria Girls would make a return in the Moushouden Series, cementing its position in relation to My Little Pony in my personal project. After SID tragically closed a case in which Jee Gun failed to convince a terrorist to renounce his ways before he killed fifty people along with himself in a suicide attack, Jee Gun decided to quit the police force, with Sunset following suit as well. A month of soul-searching later, Jee Gun adopted a new persona similar to that of Gentaro Kisaragi, wanting to befriend everyone on Minato-Sugaru Island at any cost. Though some people were resistant to his idealistic and eccentric attitude, many people come to respect or even love it as Jee Gun continued to befriend people.
One day, Jee Gun met a scientist named Starsong Dreamer and saved him from being attacked by the Zodiarts. As thanks, Jee Gun was given the Fourze Driver and was told to fight as Kamen Rider Fourze because the scientist was unable to use it in his current condition. Starsong Dreamer would continue to support Jee Gun as he formed the Kamen Rider Club, with its members mostly being people whose counterparts were Earth ponies in Equestria, such as Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Big McIntosh, Maud Pie, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.
For a long time I never thought about Jee Gun’s human form, even though it would be obvious as to what he would look like. I did a concept version in 2018 and a proper one in Kisekae for this instalment; given how Jee Gun would become Kamen Rider Fourze from Kamen Rider Decade onwards, his appearance and personality are based off of Gentaro Kisaragi, but with a childish/preteen/simpleton-ish twist to it. It’s a far cry from his demeanour in Magical Tachibana, but it’s the depiction of Jee Gun that I prefer.

Now, since Jee Gun moved from Friendship is Magic to Equestria Girls, you would think that the other side would have a counterpart that moved the opposite way. That wouldn’t be addressed until 2019 with Soulbound Series 3 and as such, we’ll cover his story when we get to that series. Because I didn’t want to create a cutie mark for the originally blank-flanked Jee Gun, I just used Fourze’s logo for his new FiM counterpart.
Champion of the Galaxy – Storm Dasher

Storm Dasher was the Pegasus prototype that resulted from Jee Gun’s regeneration and in his debut story, he played a significant role in repelling the Kikuchi Clan from Equestria. He took a liking to Rainbow Dash during that adventure and at the end, gained a cutie mark that was a recolour to that of hers, which led him to rename himself Storm Dasher. Over the coming weeks, as Dasher learned how to be a Pegasus, he took a temp job at the Golden Oak Library and got to know everyone more, including Rainbow Dash, who gradually warmed to him. The two Pegasi would eventually marry each other.
When Antoni stole the 27 planets to power the reality bomb, Equestria was one of those planets. Dasher and the Mane Six meet at the Canterlot Security Department, which would later be known as UNIT Equestria, where they hear the Daleks’ message for all the planets. Shining Armor planned to surrender Equestria to the Daleks but Dasher refused; later, the ponies join the Children of Time as they try to call the Doctor before the scientist ponies send Dasher to where the Doctor is.
Unbeknownst to everyone, Derpy, who had reawoken as the DoctorDerpy, had managed to get to the Doctor herself as well by sneaking into the Canterlot Security Department and teleporting herself away in a similar manner to Dasher. While Dasher managed to join the Doctor, the TARDIS was dropped into the centre core of the Crucible with him still inside. The TARDIS console opened and Dasher absorbed Fifi’s regeneration energy (in place of the Doctor’s) from the heart just as Derpy appeared and dematerialised the TARDIS, saving them both. The ensuing meta-crisis-ish thing made Dasher part-Time Lord, but unlike Donna, he didn’t need his mind wiped due to either being an offshoot of the Doctor himself or Equestrian magic allowed him to hold a Time Lord consciousness (or let it fade away naturally without overloading his brain).
Despite being a Pegasus and not a unicorn, Dasher had an interest in magic and thanks to his part-Time Lord status, he was able to augment his own passive magic with unicorn magic, strengthening his weather control powers and allowing him to utilise telekinesis like unicorns.
As I stated in the previous instalment, Dasher represented the Element of Time in the Elements of Harmony in a slight retcon to the story. This would be revealed in hindsight to be a bit of foreshadowing when he was reintroduced in the Moushouden Series following the hiatus of my personal project.
Some time after the events of the Season 5 opener, The Cutie Map, Dasher is summoned by the namesake map to the village of Sakabakawa, where a shrine was destroyed by a meteorite. It was there that he found the Ginga Spark and became its user, being also granted with the ability to take on a human form. Obviously this was the sign that Dasher had become the host of Ultraman Ginga, and his first fight was against Thunder Darambia, which was actually Starlight Glimmer. While dealing with the Alien Valky and his minions on Equestria, he used his Pegasus magic to create disguises for himself in order to conceal his identity as Ginga.
After defeating the Alien Valky, Dasher is informed by Ginga of Dark Lugiel’s presence on Earth and left Equestria without saying goodbye to anyone. He met the UPG on Earth and joined them after saving two of their members, with one of them being Molly Williams. His status as an Equestrian Ultra host allowed him to assume a human form (without going through the Crystal Mirror) and as a result, Dasher decided to name his human identity Hikaru Tomokaze (友風ひかる).
Although Dark Lugiel was defeated, he didn’t truly die and as such, his influence lingered across the universe. As such, Dasher continued to travel the universe, freeing beings who were manipulated by Lugiel or his minions. In the time that followed, Dasher’s magic began rapidly evolving as Ginga’s power within him was getting stronger. Ultraman Taro invited Dasher to visit the Land of Light, but upon arrival, the Plasma Spark’s energy caused his magic to go out of control, so in order to stabilise him, the Six Ultra Brothers gave some of their power to him in the form of the Strium Brace, which allowed him to access Ginga Strium form while evolving him into an alicorn at the same time. This made Dasher the first pony to become an alicorn by non-Equestrian means.
Eventually, Storm Dasher would return to Equestria, and the rest will be for Gokaiger and Soulbound Series 3.
As for Storm Dasher’s Equestria Girls counterpart, he started off as said counterpart of Jee Gun before he was disowned by his parents and regenerated in circumstances similar to Hiroki’s first prototype regeneration, the one that created Richard Yang. However, this was in the midst of an attack from Galberos, with said attack orphaning both the newly-regenerated Jee Gun and Rainbow Dash. Jee Gun, who would change his name to Storm “Dasher” Arekawa, travelled with Rainbow Dash to Jiyū-ku, a place little kids went when they had nowhere else to go. They became good friends and had an on-again off-again relationship for some years before their relationship became full-time.
In contrast to his FiM counterpart (and Jee Gun as well), Dasher Arekawa is like the Glenn Quagmire of Minato-Sugaru Island due to him being a sexually-open womaniser (he may be perverted but I wouldn’t say he’s as perverted as actual Quagmire).

Other Rider tidbits
Jee Gun wouldn’t be the only Kamen Rider on Minato-Sugaru Island, as Sunset Shimmer and others would become Kamen Riders as well.
Soon after quitting the police force, Sunset would find the WizarDriver and Wizard Rings that had fallen from a dimensional rift. Due to her status as a unicorn back in Equestria, Sunset discovered that she was able to use the equipment as upon equipping the belt for the first time, the Phantom WizarDragon entered her body after having jettisoned its previous host upon their death. She would open the Antique Shop Omokagedo in Kenen-ku, which she also used as a lab to (re)create Wizard Rings. They would become an alternative source of magic compared to the Rainbooms’ geodes, which can be dangerous if overused.
Let’s be honest here, Sunset Shimmer is the perfect fit for Kamen Rider Wizard and it’s not just because her look matches that of Haruto Soma’s. I think that as part of her redemption arc, Sunset could embrace hope in addition to friendship so as to overcome her past and show others that things can be better as long as they hold onto hope. Also, it’s a bit disappointing that the below image is the only image I could find of Sunset Shimmer as Kamen Rider Wizard on Derpibooru. Just a little suggestion for you fanartists out there.

(wizard shimmer image by Combatkaiser)
So anyway, over the years, Equestrian magic has made an influence on Minato-Sugaru Island and Sunset becoming Wizard has caused it to expand and mutate. People on the island began absorbing magic by-products in the form of radiation, which is harmless in small amounts but when they build up to a certain point, they can become Gates and as a result, the by-products can give birth to Phantoms when they fall into despair. Naturally, if you know the premise of Kamen Rider Wizard, the Phantoms need to be defeated so that the number of victims can be minimised. However, the more the Wizard Rings are used, the more by-products are created which in turn give birth to more Phantoms. This is a never-ending cycle that nothing can be done about, but at any rate, it can be argued that this is better than letting the power of the geodes run uncontrolled. You could even say that the WizarDriver runs on the magic of the geodes and the by-products are a side effect of having their power filtered through it.
Sunset’s friends would also become Kamen Riders as well; with the exception of Flash Sentry who would discover the Beast Driver and have Beast Chimera enter his body, Sunset’s friends would use copies of the WizarDriver known as the White WizarDriver, the Mage’s Belt, Sorcerer’s Belt or more collectively, the Wise Driver (according to Kamen Rider Zukan). They would also come from the same dimensional rift that brought the WizarDriver and Wizard Rings to this universe.
Kamen Rider Mages:
Violet – Sci-Twi
Blue – Rainbow Dash
Orange/Amber – Applejack
Pink – Pinkie Pie
Yellow – Fluttershy
White/Crystal – Rarity
Green – Princess Twilight Sparkle
For the Mane Six who would become Kamen Rider Mages, the colours of their gems are different based on their skin colours. While the blue and orange/amber Mages are reused from the original series, green wouldn’t appear until Soulbound Series 4 and new suits had to be made for the other colours.
Other Riders:
Kamen Rider Beast – Flash Sentry
Kamen Rider Sorcerer – Trixie Lulamoon
Kamen Rider Wiseman – Storm “Dasher” Arekawa
Fourze does have a couple of contemporaries as well. Yūki Tachibana uses the Meteor Driver to transform into Kamen Rider Meteor, with the functionality of the M-BUS later being incorporated into the Meteor Driver to allow for more mobility and also as a backup if the M-BUS were to go offline despite being automated. In Soulbound Series 4, Starlight Glimmer would use her magic to duplicate the Fourze Driver, creating a weaker imitation of it known as the Nadeshiko Driver to become Kamen Rider Nadeshiko. Later in the series, Jee Gun would also use the Fusion Switch to assume his Fusion States, merging his power with Meteor and Nadeshiko’s.
Kamen Rider Zi-O would be set on Minato-Sugaru Island as stated earlier, with Sougo Tokiwa’s residence being the (clock) repair shop 9TO5 (aka Kujigoji-do) in Langya City with its owner, Mark Roberts (the counterpart for Junichiro Tokiwa). Aside from it being a tribute to 20 years of Heisei Kamen Rider and 50 years of the Kamen Rider franchise, the series would also be a tribute to the Kamen Riders of my personal project and Equestria Girls, with various characters from the series and fan-created original characters being featured throughout. Oop, the cat’s out of the bag now. That’s right, I featured other people’s OCs in my personal project and nobody else has known until now. I’ll give proper credits when we get to the series.
So this was a pretty big instalment. I’ve been working on it since at least October 2022 as I originally planned for this to be released as part of the third run, but then I decided to hold off on it as I needed to work on other projects and make the designs for Equestria Girls Jee Gun and Dasher in Kisekae. This should be enough background to get us started on the main bulk of the Moushouden Series, but even if it isn’t, I can fill in the gaps when we get to them. For some reason, every time I come back to finish something after a prolonged break, I don’t always feel the same excitement upon completing it than I envisioned at the start. I feel like I’m rushing to complete something just so I can get it out of my mind and as a result, there’s a chance that I might forget things even though I have at least 90% of what I wanted to do in the first place.
The third run last year honestly felt a bit rushed and underwhelming because I was too focused on writing Kamen Rider Zi-O to even have content prepared for Kisekae Insights. I did four instalments for the third run because I didn’t want to skip a year, plus there was also the 15th anniversary of the Sea Princesses animated series and I didn’t really like what I originally had at the time, so I decided to give you all a sneak peek into Kamen Rider Zi-O by writing about the Ryuki/Sea Princesses tribute arc. Anyway, now that the fourth run of Kisekae Insights is underway, join me as I continue to cover more of my personal project and hopefully do more compared to the third run.

Fall 2023 Classes
Hey studyblr!
It’s that time of the semester where I register for classes. So, I wanted to share the classes I’ll be taking the first semester of my Junior year!
Intermediate Spanish II - This is the LAST Spanish class I need for my International Relations major. I’m excited to get to it, but upset that it’s the same guy who’s taught me for the last year, especially because he literally only teaches at 9:00 AM. So, it’ll be yet another early semester.
Women & Gender Studies Capstone - This is the LAST elective I need for my Women & Gender Studies minor. I’m super excited to officially be done with it. Even better, it’s taught by the advisor of one of my clubs.
International Law & Organizations - I have been waiting so patiently for this class for two years. Odds are, this is the only time they’ll offer it until I graduate. So, I had to say “no” to another class I really wanted to take at the same time. But, oh well.
Research Methods in Political Science - I am NOT excited for this one. I know how to do research, and don’t need a whole 3 credit class to teach me how. But, it’s a requirement for Political Science and International Relations, so I’ll push through.
History of Food - I’m REALLY excited for this one. One of my History professor’s concentrations is Food History, so he was super excited they let him teach this. Hopefully, we’ll mostly be cooking stuff for class. I’m so excited.
Career Mentoring for the Social Sciences - This one is only two credits, but it is a requirement for my Political Science and International Relations majors. It’s going to be boring and terrible. It’s mostly prep for “the real world” or trying to get your first internship. But I’ve already had an Internship and jobs that relate to my major, so...not exactly necessary.
Honors Capstone - This is the LAST thing I need to do to graduate with Honors (except keep up the GPA requirements). It’s only one credit and I’m taking it with some friends, so I’m excited. I think it’ll be super easy, with minimal effort. So, I’m ready for it!
So, seven classes this semester puts me at 18 credits. After next semester, I’ll have 114.5 credits. Crazy, right? But I need it for all the majors. I’m super excited to start giving myself a break when it comes to the 2023-2024 academic year. I’m almost done with my degrees. I have 11 classes left, the only issue is...they never offer them. So basically, I am stuck here for the last half of my degree. But 3 majors and 3 minors in 4 years isn’t bad at all, especially considering I know people who are taking 6 years for 1 major and 0 minors. I might even pick up an extra minor! Who knows? The world is my oyster.

Match made in Chemistry || Dabi
➳ Teacher Dabi “Touya Todoroki” x Teacher Fem Reader
Word Count: 2943 Warnings: modern au, light cursing Taglist: @shoutosteakettle @reddriot @todosweetheart @kingtamakimurder @byougen (dm me to be added!)
➳ Note: Hey @lirinstaalem ! I’m your secret santa! I really hope you enjoy this fic, Life! I know how much you love Dabi, and how much you HATE chemistry, so I made a lil sumn for this <3 and thank you so much @reddriot for betaing!
Students watch their English teacher sort through their graded timed essays from the day prior, humming softly to herself. A girl in the front zoned in on the diamond encrusted band resting on her teacher’s ring finger, and she gasped, not realizing that her teacher had just gotten married.
“Ms. Y/LN!”
You halt your movements as you look up, eyebrows furrowed from the sudden outburst. “Is something the matter, Ashido?”
“Why didn’t you tell us you got married?!”
Murmurs arise from the other students as they suddenly shift their focus onto you and Ashido.
“Oh you got married?! Congratulations!”
“I didn’t even know she was engaged...”
“Shut up, Kaminari. Of course someone gets engaged before getting married.”
“No need to be so rude, Bakugou!”
You stack the papers neatly before laying them flat on the desk. “Well,” you start off, leaning forward as your lips curl at the thought of your husband. “No one knew, except some of the teachers of course. It was a bit of a secret.”
“But love shouldn’t be a secret!” a girl with black hair chirps up, sighing in content. “Love is meant to be shown to the world! Everyone deserves a chance to show off their loved one!”
“You’re absolutely right, Yaoyorozu. But this was a mutual thing between my husband and I, for the better.”
“Is he a criminal or something?”
You scoff at your student’s words. “Of course he’s not a criminal. I’m just not ready to speak about him, that’s all.”
“...I bet it’s Mr. Todoroki huh?!”
You shake your head as you scratch the side of your head. “No, Uraraka. It’s not Mr. Todoroki.”
“It has to be!”
“And why do you think it is?”
“Well Ms. Y/LN, I’m sure we all noticed the way you guys act with each other. And he’s the chemistry teacher? It’s like it was a match made in heaven. You two obviously are very comfortable with each other!”
“M-Midoriya it’s not like that,” you stutter, internally cursing yourself out as you broke composure. “Besides, I hate chemistry.”
“Who hates chemistry?”
Shit. Perfect timing.
You avert your gaze from the rambunctious teenagers, to the devil of the hour. “Hi, Mr. Todoroki. What do you need?”
The black haired man looks over at his students as he stands in front of your desk, back turned to them. “I ran out of staples. Can you give me some, Ms.Y/LN?” he asks with a sly smirk curling at his lips. “I promise to give you something in return.”
“It can’t be helped,” you sigh as you open a drawer, pulling a box of staples out as you handed it to him. “When are you going to buy your own supplies and stop leeching off of others?”
“Soon. Don’t you worry about it, I promise I’ll make you proud,” Touya teases as he takes the package from you. “I’ll see you in the teachers’ lounge.” His fingers graze across your knuckles before straightening himself up, saying goodbye to the students and walking out.
It’s quiet. A bit too quiet at the moment. You could feel your heart pumping as a jolt of nervousness suddenly hits your body. You knew that exchange was far from a normal teacher-to-teacher conversation.
They’re gonna know, you think, chewing on the inside of her cheek as Ashido raises her hand, a smile on her lips.
“Y-Yes, Ashido?”
“What kind of exchange was that?! He’s into you!”
“And I’m married. Happily married, in fact!”
“Well can we see those pictures?” she chirps, gaining agreements from her classmates.
“Yeah Ms. Y/LN! I bet the venue was really awesome!” Kirishima yells from the back, a bright smile on his face.
“I do have a couple photos,” you mutter, scratching your chin in thought. “By myself of course. I won’t show the others just yet.”
Your eyes gaze across the class before stopping on a bi-colored boy, staring into his cerulean orbs.
Todoroki stares at you with a stoic look upon his face, messing with the click of his blue pen. He knows exactly why you’re avoiding all these questions but to be honest— he’s glad you’re doing this. A sense of relief washes over the both of you.
The ding of the bell circulates the entire building as the shuffling of students and loud chatter come alive. Scraping of the chairs abruptly bump into the desk as the teenagers file out of class, happy that class is finally over.
A pleased sigh leaves your lips as you grab your class keys, making your way out of your classroom. After locking your room, you walk down the hallway, passing by multiple students on your way to the teachers’ lounge.
School had begun last week after winter break, but you returned to school this week. The school was generous enough to grant you two more extra weeks off. And of course, you and your husband used the time wisely.
Mrs. Todoroki. You loved the sound of that.
You push open the door to the restricted areas and close it behind you, not seeing anyone in the area.
“Hello?” you call out cautiously as you walk in, glancing around as you make a beeline for the coffeemaker. “Is anyone there?”
As if on cue, Touya emerges from around the corner of the room, a playful smile on his lips. “Fancy seeing you here, doll.”
You hum in return as you approach him, slithering your arms around his chest. “You as well.”
“So I take it the students are curious?” he gets right to the point—there isn’t a way to beat around the bush with the many questions the kids are asking, especially if they think it's their chemistry teacher.
“Very curious,” you mutter as you look up at him. “Ashido kept asking about it, Yayaorozu kept saying how love shouldn’t be hidden.”
“I heard they were asking for photos as well. Why don’t you show them?”
“Are you crazy?” you ask with a huff as you pinch his side, feeling nothing but clothing underneath your fingertips. “Do you know how crazy my class will be if I say that?”
“Sounds like a you problem.”
“They’re also your students...”
“Well, that’s different,” he leans down and presses his lips against your forehead, lingering for a second before pulling away. “Plus they’re always trying to set you up with me.”
“Yeah, I know, even though I told them countless times that I hated Chemistry.”
“What if I could change your mind?” he whispers, tilting your chin up to face him. “Would you let me, Mrs. Todoroki?” His lips brush against yours, not daring to push any further.
“I wouldn’t mind that,” your eyes flutter shut as you lean forward to press against him, only for him to pull back and make you stumble forward. “H-Hey!”
“Sorry, honey. School rules.” His smirk causes heat to rise to your face but ignites a subtle anger inside you. “Maybe when we get home.”

In the hallways, Touya hums to himself as he holds his papers to his chest, the keys jingling in his pocket. A tuft of red hair catches his eye and he lets out a laugh, ruffling his younger brother’s hair. “Why do you look like that?! What got you in a mood today?”
Shouto brushes his hand away from his head and stares up at him. “You guys are making it obvious.”
“Huh? What are you talking about?” Touya asks as he enters his empty classroom, turning the lights on as his brother trails from behind. There was still about ten minutes left of lunch, but most teachers were prepping their class for the next session.
“You know what I’m talking about. You guys promised you would keep it subtle at school. That exchange you two had earlier, made it seem like something was going on. The girls are devising a plan to get you guys together.”
“Well where is the problem with that?” `An eyebrow raises in curiosity as Touya sits down in his chair, clasping his hands on his desk. “It’s good no? Then we won’t have to hide anymore.”
“Don’t you think it’s weird if I’m calling my English teacher aunt instead of ‘Ms.’?”
“Well just don’t. Keep calling her by her maiden name.”
“It’s already bad that I’m related to you!”
“What, do you not like Y/N? Is that what this is about, Shouto? Do you not like my wife?” His piercing gaze causes a shiver to run down the younger boy’s back, not liking to be under his brother’s intense stare; especially if it was about his wife.
“No that’s not it. Of course I like her. She’s better than you in every aspect. I just don’t want people to know. That’s all.”
“So what you’re saying is, you don’t want us to interact like we aren’t married and ignore your classmates' attempts to get us together?”
“..yes that’s exactly what I want.”
“Too bad,” he simply states as he leans back in his chair, letting out a yawn as he glances down at his watch before glancing back up. “Now move along before I give you an F on this test just so dad can shit on you.”
A growl leaves the younger brother’s lips as he swiftly walks to his seat in the back of the science classroom and drops his bag, making his way out of the room.
Touya lets out a huff of air and grabs his phone from his pants. “Getting upset over something little,” he mutters, as the screen lights up and a smile forms on his lips.
His lock screen is a photo of you in the snow in your years of dating. The sun was angled perfectly at your face as you reached up to catch some snowflakes that would melt in your hand. That day was the day Touya had asked you to marry him.
Time flies by as the second warning bell rings, startling him from his thoughts. Saliva goes down the wrong way and he coughs abruptly into his hand, sitting straight up as his students walk into the room. As each teen walks past his desk, they give him a puzzled look and go on their way.
After a few moments of unnecessary coughing, Touya finally catches the attention of the class, immediately telling them the agenda for the day. Of course as usual, groans of protest are thrown into the air, but their teacher couldn’t care less.
Group work is thrown around as kids pick out their team members; although he can already predict who is pairing up with who.
The girls all gather together as Bakugou, Kirishima, Sero and Kaminari group up. Being their teacher for so long, he has gotten the hang of every student’s attitude and who they work best with.
“So like I was thinking, maybe you can ask Ms. Y/LN help for homework, and then I can ask him for help with something in her room! Or maybe or maybe you can sabotage something in her room and I can call him!” Ashido proudly explains her master plan, chin up in the air as a cheeky grin makes it way onto her face. “It’ll work!”
Her friends stare at her like she’s a genius, minus Jirou.
“Uh huh, and what if he sees right through your plan? Mr. Todoroki isn’t stupid either. Neither is Todoroki, he’ll probably just tell him right there. And then we’ll get in trouble. And she’s married.”
“You didn’t let me finish, Jirou! That’s why our lovely Yaoyorozu will be a distraction for Todoroki! Plus her and Mr. Todoroki are much cuter!”
“M-Me?!” Yaoyorozu gasps, looking up from her worksheet. “Why can’t Uraraka do it?!”
“Because she’s going to be getting Mr. Todoroki of course. Now keep your voice down before he hears us,” Ashido hisses, lowering her head. “It’ll work. It’s perfect.”
☽✧ ✦ ✧☾
The plan is now in effect. School is finally over as the girls rush to the spots Ashido assigned to them. Will it work? Who knows.
Uraraka rushes down the hallway to the science room where Mr. Todoroki will be. She peeks her head inside the classroom and her blood goes cold.
The room is dark, as his belongings are gone.
“M-Mr. Todoroki?” she calls out as looks over her shoulder, before hesitantly walking into the room, rubbing her arms. She gulps and glances around the empty classroom, trying to find any clues as to where her teacher went. “Mr. Todoroki, M-Ms. Y/LN needs help!”
Still, she was met with silence.
Uraraka stays silent for a moment longer before a lightbulb turns on in her mind. “Shit,” she whispers as walks out of the room, her eyes widening when Todoroki is in front of her. “You scared me, Todoroki!”
“Why were you in there?” he asks, eyes narrowed in suspicion as he glances his classmate up and down. “Don’t you know that school ended ten minutes ago?”
Uraraka goes blank as she frantically wracks her brain for anything, something. She’ll take anything.
“Where is Yayaorozu?!” she blurts out of the blue, hands immediately going to her mouth.
Shit. She wasn’t supposed to say that.
“Yayaorozu?” he asks with confusion evident in his voice as he raises an eyebrow. “Why would I know where she’s at?”
“S-She didn--”
“She didn’t what? What are you even talking about?”
“Where is your brother at?”
He mouths the words once more as his look of confusion changes to a cold stare. “Why do you need my brother?”
“Well you see uh-”
“Uraraka, abort the mission!” Ashido’s screech bounces off of the hallway walls as she sprints down the corridor, stopping in front of her classmates as she pants heavily, leaning over. “Don’t get Mr. Todor- Hi, Todoroki!”
“Can one of you tell me why you need him?”
“We can’t!” Uraraka and Ashido blurt in unison.
“Well...why can’t you? He’s my brother.”
It’s quiet amongst the students as Todoroki mutters things under his breath before he looks at his classmates. “..Yayaorozu is looking for Ms. Y/LN, isn’t she?”
Both girls stare at him with gaped mouths, blinking a couple times in shock.
Todoroki mutters a curse under his lips as he swiftly turns on his heels and marches down the hall, gripping the strap of his backpack.
Oblivious to the anxious teens and an unhappy boy, you stacked papers into their respective dividers as your husband hums to himself, going through the files in his bag.
“How was today?” you ask, breaking the silence as you glance over your shoulder.
“It was fine. Same as every other day. Except the girls were being somewhat weird today.”
“Oh?” That caught your attention.
“Mhm,” he confirms with a nod of his head as he takes his glasses off, staring into your eyes. “I heard them whispering and giggling and kept taking glances my way. I heard them bring up your name from time to time.”
“Is that so,” you mutter, looking down at your desk. “Must have been something else then.”
“Actually that’s not all.”
“Well how much is there, honey?” you laugh and sit down on your chair. “What else happened?”
“Shouto told me they’re trying to set us up.”
Set you up? Like prank you two?
Before you could speak, he interrupts your train of thought. “As in a relationship. They want us together.”
“Well that’s odd.”
“Also Shouto got upset because he said we were being too ‘obvious.’”
You roll your eyes at his words. Poor Shouto. He’s already embarrassed that his science teacher is his brother, and now that his aunt is his English teacher, that might even tortue the boy.
“Shouto is so skeptical. Tell him things will be okay.”
“Maybe you should tell him that. I’m sure he’ll love to hear it from his auntie.”
“Oh whatever, Touya.” You smile and pack up your things, him following suit. “They can’t get far. I think soon they’ll figure out we’re taken and won’t attempt anymore till we’re ready to tell them.”
Todoroki turns the corner with three girls trailing behind him. Of course each girl was nervous out of their mind. What would their teachers think if they found out they were being set up?
Especially if one is married?
The youngest Todoroki sibling approaches the english room, drowning their calls out for him. He reaches out to grab a hold of the knob but the door is opened by the person inside.
From the outside, it is obvious that they could hear your laugh and his chuckling. Your voices grow louder as you appear in the door frame, holding Touya’s hand in yours.
The three girls let out screams and cover their mouths, eyes open like a fish out of water. “You-”
“They-”
“MARRIED?!” Ashido shrieks, batting her eyelashes and wipes her eyes, making sure she saw what she saw. “You guys are together?!”
You let out a sheepish smile and looked down at your conjoined hands. “Yeah. We are. No point in hiding it now huh, Touya?”
He nods in agreement and pats Shouto on the head, ruffling his hair on purpose. “And we have to get this kid back home before our dad kicks my ass.”
“Will you show us your wedding photos now?!” Uraraka and Yayaorozu beg, a twinkle in their eyes.
You purse your lips at the thought before a defeated sigh slips your lips. “You know what, I will. And that’s all I’ll be doing tomorrow.”
“...wait, but this isn’t adding up,” Ashido adds quickly, scratching her chin in thought. “I thought you hated Chemistry.”
“Oh, I hate it with a passion. But Touya makes it much more bearable.”
