I was always determined that as I aged I would not fall for the siren song of nostalgia and I would look at new and unfamiliar things with an open mind.
what I didn't account for was how much new stuff was about to start genuinely sucking so bad.
#all my old shit I still have from over a decade ago is still going like a champ#and any time I do have to replace it the newer thing breaks/goes to shit in like two years MAX#this applies to tech it applies to clothes it applies to services and subscriptions to things#deviantart went to shit facebook went to shit twitter went to shit youtube went to shit google went to shit#tumblr also went to shit but I have so many extensions fixing it I haven't noticed#elfwood fucking died and nothing replaced it#idk man I hate it here#do not get me started on cars

I have sewed a few more blocks from the beach quilt, and I repaired a stuffed animal for a neighbor (no pictures because it's not my stuffed animal), but crafting updates might be a little sparse for the next week or so? I have a short week at work this week, a lot of work to get done, and I am getting my covid booster this week (we'll see how that goes lol)
#the person behind the yarn#the stuffed animal was a charmander! I fixed a seam#my neighborhood has a facebook group and I have a standing offer to the group#that I will repair any stuffed animal for free as long as I don't have to buy supplies#and if I do have to buy supplies I will only charge for that but like#I almost never need to buy supplies. Repairs rarely take more than a scrap of fabric and a bit of thread and time#maybe a little stuffing but I buy polyfil stuffing in bulk it's no big deal to give a handful of it to a neighbor to fix a plushie#I can't help with neighbor projects and I can't attend neighborhood parties so this is my way of like#community building? so far I've only repaired a handful of things#but it makes me happy every time I am so glad I can help

Hey y'all! Weird question time again, this time (for once) not that weird lol Do you have any recommendations, advice, or links to guides on how to clean plushies, stuffed animals, or dolls*? I want to get more into fixing plushies but I am very sensitive to a lot of different scents so I need to be able to clean them before I can start even potentially having people send me plushies to fix I've fixed a few plushies for neighbors, but when it comes to cleaning plushies I pretty much know "throw it in the washing machine" or "spot clean with a damp cloth" and surely there has to be something in the middle of that spectrum. I'm also totally okay with the kind of plushie cleaning that involves removing their fluff, washing them, and giving them new fluff, I just don't know where to start *I know dolls are their own thing but I think there might be overlap
