Recently did a first playthrough of Fallout classic, and since its an *old* game, i found it difficult to keep track of quests and important information, so i made a journal! Here's some of my favourite pages i got out of it :)

ELLA PURNELL at the 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on September 15th 2024 wearing RABANNE

This was a very interesting look for Ella. I thought the dress was very pretty, but the silver clashed a bit with her darker more vampy makeup. I just wasn’t 100% sold on the look. However, I did absolutely love her hair. The curls were stunning and I just haven’t seen her with that style before.

Ok I'm gonna talk about the vanity fair article. I don't know how much of it is the journalist not knowing anything anything about fallout and how much of it is.......... Bad news for the show. Probably more of the former than the latter. So we should probly take some of this with a grain of salt. Also don't take anything I say here too seriously bc obviously I haven't seen the damn show I'm just chatting shit.

Oh good. the female lead is naive and doe eyed.

Ok this is good. This is an actual intelligent point about ethics. This is better than "these r the fiends they're evil because... They're.... They're eveil :) drugs." It's not revolutionary or anything, the bar is low, but it's good to see that we're at least on this level of using our brains.

It.... Yeah. Okay. Whatever sure.

1. Boneyard who?

Im not saying there can't be multiple settlements where LA used to be but. Could we really not just go somewhere new?? Or see how Boneyard is doing when the show takes place?

2. Girl why is it called Philly. As a Philadelphia bitch I got excited. Fucked up.

GOOD. VERY GOOD. I don't wanna see bastardized versions of existing characters bro if I see ANYONE from fo4 I'm gonna start throwing rocks. This is the best possible setup.

Of Apocalypse Dogs and Grief

As someone who has been grieving the dog who saved my life and as an analytical nerd through and through, Fallout hit me deep.

Obviously Dogmeat (CXC404) is not the main focus of this series, but the Ghoul bonding with him was one of those dynamics that just made me sob. As a long time fan of science fiction/zombie media/apocalyptic media I’ve come to expect the cliche dog relationship. However, since the sudden death of my dog around a year ago, I’ve avoided some of my all time favorite movies to curb the hurt (I am Legend, for example). When this show came out, though, my excitement overshadowed that unspoken rule I had made for myself and I forgot my caution.

This slip up ultimately gifted me with so many wonderful memories to relive and also a reminder of one facet of grief I had yet to pay attention to.

For me personally, the most impactful scene of this topic was the brief clip of Dogmeat curling up on Cooper as he thought of his old dog, Rosevelt, from his past life.

“I’m sorry Dogmeat but you ain’t him.”

I could dive into how masterfully portrayed the Ghoul’s character is, and how the writing employed many interesting situations to show the audience his lasting humanity and vulnerability. Instead, I just miss my boy.

Because the Ghoul is right, nothing can compare to home. And that’s what my dog was to me: my home. It feels like I’ve been traversing my own wasteland without him ever since, which is disgustingly unfair because of all the zombie adventures I had imagined for the two of us.

I think a lot of my generation daydreams of the hypothetical post-apocalyptic world. Somehow it has become this fun future for when all the stress of our day-to-day catastrophes have boiled over and all we have left to do is breathe and survive the aftermath. It’s a genre that provides a lot of ironic comfort and commentary on what might drive us there.

I had always joked about what to do if zombies reigned or if bombs rained down, and my hypotheticals never left out my dog. I had always thought he’d be the finest apocalypse dog. A spunky mutt, athletic, protective and bonded to me above anyone else.

It would be me and him, cowboy and canine, against whatever may come.

That’s how we were in life, and so naturally that was how I saw us in this fictional future. It wasn’t the only future he joined me in. In fact, I had rarely pictured a near future without him. Then in the span of a couple hours he was gone. And I’ve been grappling with my own end of the world ever since.

I had been avoiding this trope like the plague as to not remind me of the futures I’d lost. But in Fallout, I found some odd closure. I could turn on the tv and see this adventure I had always wanted play out with some aspect of him waiting for me in it. I think, in small doses at least, this trope can help me after all.

So cheers to Fallout, a phenomenal world and story. And cheers to Dogmeat, who I see my own apocalypse dog in.

Monday - Oct 25, 2287 ~ part2

We left the vault around noon. I showed everyone how to get in if there’s another emergency, and to get water in the future. With the river undrinkable this is the best bed for clean water for the foreseeable future.

We took the meat from a few of the roaches around the neighborhood and cooked them up for lunch. Not exactly my idea of good food, but I’ve had worse in the military. At least this was warm. Actually, it’s debatable as to whether or not that was a good thing…

In any case, Sturges agreed to help me get together some bed frames, and patch up some of the windows in Rosa’s old house. And some of the walls. The ceilings too. He’s good with tools, at least, and he’s been a big help.

He said they’d have been content with even sleeping bags for now, but if it’s worth doing it’s worth doing right. We got two beds done before dinnertime, and we’re going to start on a third before it gets too dark. The current plan is to borrow some cushions from couches around the neighborhood until we can find a decent mattress.

Ella wore a pretty Armani dress at the premiere of “Babygirl”. I thought the color and style was perfect for her. I thought the silver details on the dress made an interesting look. It was a cool look.

It's good fun and simple so because of that many gamers have applied the concept to various open world games and MMOs. Dream Journal

Fun dream last night! Has anyone seen that new Fallout show on Amazon? Well, I basically had a Fallout dream last night! I was in this weird camp and I think I might've been a prisoner or was captured or something. Anyway, I helped lead a revolution to break out to go and live in the wilds. The Ghoul was with me helping out and there were SO many cool places to explore.

Anyway! Let me know down below what you know about Fallout and where you'd be in the universe. Vault person? Ghoul? Person of the wilds? Man of Steel?

Monday - Oct 25, 2287

I woke up to a giant radioactive storm. I could feel myself getting sicker even as sheltered as I was. 

I grabbed what I had and rushed everyone into the vault as quickly as I could. We're sitting in the entrance now, passing out the radaway. Codsworth even got to follow this time- I wasn't about to leave him out there again. 

Apparently this sort of weather is common nowadays. We really do need to get those shelters repaired if anyone stands a chance living here.

While we wait, I suppose we can fill up any containers we have on us; the vault still has running water, and it's clean. Cleaner than the river, at least. We might as well stock up.

I just hope-... Well, I don't know how Codsworth would react seeing the halls.
