Lmao it is the genetics I want to work on. I have no experience in breeding animals, and while I know about it, I don’t always understand how it works. Not just color genetics, but things like how to understand what you have and how to actually achieve goals. I think I’ll need some actual hands on experience tbh to be able to really grasp some of it

So I know this is a guide intended to help peafowl people with genetics for peafowl BUT the first section on punnett squares should be able to explain them to just about anyone. It may or may not be all that helpful for the particular genes with quail (as their genes aren't as straightforward, you have to deal with dominant and incomplete dominant way more for quail, but as far as know they don't have any polygenic traits or traits that would break mendelian genetics (unlike, say, plants).

All that's left after you understand how the different types of genes transfer is learning the names of the genes you want to put into the slots, what type they are, and how they modify the phenotype.

Also PLEASE feel free to come hop on the Longfeather discord and ask me a million questions about genetics if you need, there is literally no greater pleasure in my life than rambling about genetics to someone that actually wants me to do so.

Hello! I love your art (Wren is absolutely gorgeous!) and was hoping I could join in on the OC's hated gifts thing? Here's my OC Fawn for a ref.

Her weirdest hated gift is magic rock candy. It's based in an irrational fear of sorts; when Fawn was a child her parents told her that her teeth would either rot or break off if she ate magic rock candy (they didn't want to spend money on it, get her hyper, or pay for a dentist appointment). Ever since, they've been really awkward and grossed out around eating it. Rationally, she knows it's not going to happen by eating one stick of magic rock candy, but it's just stuck in her head.

Ngl it very eyebrow raising that as soon as Fawn got to be the main lead/focus of a movie, she suddenly got a redesign that got rid of her tomboyish details in favor of a more girly look, almost like the film people didn't trust a non-girly character could lead a fairy film.
