I can’t actually get over how Hana and Alope become friends bc they don’t really know they’re friends until one of them is sad and the other says something stupid like this.

Or someone asks and they just go “I’m not real sure….”

but they do become friends. They’re shaky at first, but arguably even after chapter 3 you could call them that. They’re just not very good friends until after chapter 15. And even after chapter 15 they have attachment issues so they’d rather just do nice things for each other to prove they are friends rather than claim it.

"thank you," he murmurs earnestly, smile full of a fondness that he has to at least attempt to bite back. after all, it's bizarre for him to smile with authentic endearment, with eyes glistening at someone who was supposedly a stranger. of course she wasn't that, she'd never really been that and though in his time, if they were ever to bump into one another, they would surely regard one another with a look of feigned indifference, they would act like they were nothing but strangers despite their history. that'd never sincerely be the case. "it's busy here today, huh?" he asks once he's taken a seat, taking a sip of his coffee before he's shifting to get comfortable within his position. the point of this exercise isn't to just stare wistfully at her after all. no, the point was to persuade her to give him another chance. he doesn't know why he didn't fight his own corner in this time, but he'd be damned if he didn't do anything when he was capable of doing so. "nice to see it, this place is great." still one of his favourite establishments in the future. the man was a creature of habit.
