Trying to put into words what this game is to me...
Man, I was looking for a game like that for too long, and I've finally found this gem! I think it is so underestimated and deserves much more attention.
I mean, the landscapes are stunning, the characters are fun, even the combat is great. I know, Final Fantasy is known for its turn-based combat which I personally appreciate, but I just wanted a game to beat monsters and enjoy a nice story. This game offers it and you also have the opportunity to ride in your own beautiful car! The guys are so cool (specially Prompto). The photo system is very good and makes you believe your adventure really exists (this is incredible!) ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝

FFXV Brotherhood Audio Commentary
Hey all! So after a bit of convincing, my Japanese-speaking friend and fellow FFXV fan goldentunes kindly agreed to provide an English summary of the Brotherhood audio commentary, which is only available in Japanese (no subs) on the Blu-ray disc. As Ignis is my favorite character, I asked her to start with Episode 4: Bittersweet Memories. Her summary of the commentary is posted below. If you'd like to listen to the audio commentary yourself, I've uploaded the Bittersweet Memories episode on MEGA. (Open in MPC, right click video -> Audio Track -> Japanese commentary).
Note: The two people speaking in the commentary are Hajime Tabata, the director of FFXV, and Soichi Masui, the director of Brotherhood. Ignis is the character they changed the most. Being by Noctis' side is the reason for his existence/his way of life.
In the flashback where Ignis looks like a bespectacled Yagami Light, he's only 17. Tabata was kind of joking about how amazing the apartment building is, and Masui says, yeah this is when Noctis wanted to live alone. And that even though Noctis and Ignis are so intertwined, they don't live together. Masui wanted to show that there is still a clear divide between the royal family and commoners, and Ignis was the perfect role to illustrate this invisible barrier.
When Noctis's trashland apartment appears, Tabata laughs about how Noctis is still able to live even with all that filth around him. Masui laughs too about how Noctis is kind of a "failure human" and says that there are people like this everywhere and it's more common than you would think.
The scene in Noctis' apartment where they have the big fight is Masui’s favourite - he wanted to show how obstinate Ignis can be, especially where his devotion to Noctis is concerned (and it's specifically stated here that "Ignis will do ANYTHING to protect Noctis"). They couldn't fit this aspect of his character into the earlier episodes, and they felt that just having Ignis go "don't do this Noct, don't do that Noct" made his character flat. So they beefed up his character and added depth, which took some time in development.
The part where Noctis trains with Gladio in the garden, and where Noctis sits down and Gladio eventually goes to sit with him, is a direct parallel of the same scene in episode three (Sword and Shield), but their older age shows the passage of time and change in their maturity. It's also the essence of "Brotherhood" and what they were trying to achieve with the anime.
Other things mentioned in the interview:
Brotherhood is a condensation of a whole bunch of ideas. It was made because they wanted people to like the characters.
Tabata and Masui talk about the realistic details of the places in the game (using Lestallum as an example) and how it really brings the settings to life.
Tabata: Seeing the characters’ relationships with each other is what makes them so likeable, and in turn, what makes the game special and enjoyable.
Masui also wonders if the game would be interesting if you play it before watching Brotherhood.
There was some stuff about the technical process of making the anime.
There was also some talk about how they were pressed for time to fix all the issues with the game. (At the time of this commentary, the game hadn't been released yet. Masui said he would start in the afternoon and work all the way till dawn).
Tabata says that there was a ton of stress around finishing the game production, as well as creating this anime (as well as other media) because the project was so big and they were running out of time. But seeing the anime come to fruition was really rewarding for them, even though there was so much pressure, and when they made an announcement regarding the anime and the release, the response was so overwhelmingly positive from both Japanese and overseas fans that they were taken aback. One of the producers cried when he heard how positive the response was.

The Top 7 Legendary Spells from the world of Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy is a franchise steeped in magical lore, and its spells have left an indelible mark on gaming history. Let’s delve into some of the most legendary and well known spells within the series!
Ultima: Of the ultimate spells in every Final Fantasy game, Ultima is almost always the best of the best. It hits all enemies for non-elemental damage, bypasses Reflect, and ignores defenses.
Flare: This powerful fire spell deals incredible damage. However, its evolutions—Megaflare, Gigaflare, and Teraflare—are even more devastating, often associated with Bahamut, the dragon summon1.
Holy: An extremely potent elemental magic, Holy is most effective against dark-type enemies. It has appeared in multiple mainline installments and remains one of the series’ most formidable spell.
Stop: The Stop spell can paralyze enemies during combat, providing a moment of respite for players. Be cautious, though—it can turn an easy encounter into a challenge.
Confuse: This spell lives up to its name, causing confusion in battle. Beware the Marlboro’s Bad Breath ability, which can quickly end a fight if it inflicts Confuse on your party.
Mini: Shrink enemies down to a microscopic size with Mini. While powerful foes are often immune, it’s useful for random encounters, reducing incoming physical attacks and boosting your damage output.
Warp/Banish: Dating back to the first Final Fantasy game, this spell ends fights instantly. It’s a classic choice for dealing with pesky foes.

compiling my headcanons for what video games dungeon meshi characters would like, if they were gamers in modern day
some taken from this post and my reblog additions there. added more characters, with some suggestions by friends/mutuals (marked by *asterisk ).
this can also be a games recommendation list based on your fav/most relatable characters too, if you want
characters that are not are included are bc i dont have ideas for them. if i only list the genre name but not any specific titles, its bc im not familiar enough with the character/genre to pick a specific game.
this list is, of course, biased towards games im more familiar with. feel free to ask me to elaborate on my choices or make suggestions in the comments
Laios' party:
Laios: plays lots of Monster Hunter. loves Spore but he doesnt often play past the tribal stage. likes Pokemon but he's more focused on catching the pokemon than following the story. played WolfQuest and DragonFable back in the day. enjoyed the concept of Bugsnax but wasn't interested in dealing with the NPCs
Marcille: mainly Dwarf Fortress, RTS games, some colony sims. but also sometimes The Sims, and dollmaker dress-up games. i could see her also enjoying Rollercoaster Tycoon and making elaborately-themed parks. might also occasionally indulge in some visual novels if she's in the mood for narrative she has Stardew Valley so she can have something to play co-op with falin, but its not a game she plays a lot of otherwise. when playing with falin, marcille micromanages the farm to maximize productivity, and does the decorations
Chilchuck: puzzle games and hidden object/escape room games as a video game-equivalent to finding/dismantling traps and lockpicking. i think he'd also enjoy Bejeweled.
Senshi: mainly Wii games and Cooking Mama. occasionally plays Snake on his 15-year-old nokia phone. i dont think he would enjoy games like Overcooked or restaurant manager games, because he likes to take his time making food, not stressing about customer service
Falin: some *Legend of Zelda games – she likes the exploration aspect in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, maybe also some of the toon zelda games like Minish Cap or Wind Waker she also plays Pokemon (*Pokemon Go when she's traveling), and i think she would enjoy some indie games, like Penko Park or Chicory: A Colorful Tale. plays Stardew Valley co-op with marcille – falin mainly takes care of the animals, mining, and picking the crops. occasionally makes improvement suggestions that marcille didnt think of
Izutsumi: i could see her enjoying games with parkour mechanics, like *Assassin's Creed, or Mirror's Edge. or maybe something simple but requiring cat-like swipes, like Fruit Ninja. despite her impatience, i think she could also enjoy action games with interesting longer narratives, as evidenced by [this omake] (relevant portion pictured below), so maybe *Final Fantasy 7 – my friend who's familiar with the game said "she’d find Cloud and Vincent relatable"
[ID: a dungeon meshi omake, where laios' party watches a nightmare monster manifest marcille's dream. there are snippets of dramatic soap opera-like dialogue. the rest of the party are initially enthusiastic but get bored over time, meanwhile izutsumi remains enthralled]
Kabru's party
Kabru: definitely Crusader Kings. maybe also some rpgs with relationship/faction mechanics, such as *Fire Emblem (one of the older ones or FE:3H) or Fallout: New Vegas (hes maxing out the speech stat asap) i think he would also enjoy mystery games like Pentiment and Return of the Obra Dinn – he would love the process of getting familiar with the many characters and deducing "who did what" in both games.
Rin: she takes pride in being an indie gamer (translating her disdain for upper class magic academy mages -> disdain for AAA games). given her chain-lightning magic in canon, i think she'd enjoy games with AOE-type magic, so maybe games such as Vampire Survivors. my mutual also suggested she might enjoy indie mystery visual novels like *Paranormasight, and that her AAA guilty-pleasure would be *Final Fantasy 14 – that rin is "a hardcore ff14 raider. would join PUGs and shot-call every week. #holm and diya might also play ff14 casually with rin but holm would be fishing mainly"
Mickbell: mainly Bethesda games like Fallout and Skyrim– enjoys the bootstrapper power fantasy in them. the type to go out of his way to pick up all the loot he can, to later sell
Kuro: enjoys the same games as Mickbell, but for the open-world exploration and investigation factors
Toshiro and Tansu's party:
Namari: her interest in fighting and weapons could translate to brawler/fighting games and action games with a focus on weapon stats – so maybe *Street Fighter, *God of War, and/or *Dark Souls. might play *Monster Hunter with laios but for the weapons. i could also see her occasionally enjoying truck simulators
Toshiro (Shuro): has the perseverance for soulslikes and other high-difficulty action and/or metroidvania games, but would take his time overthinking item/weapon synergies sometimes. given [his fondness for bugs], i could also see him enjoying Hollow Knight
Tade: would enjoy the cute aesthetics and lighthearted gameplay of Animal Crossing and Katamari. would also like idol anime rhythm games
Kiki: i think she would enjoy horror games such as Resident Evil, but would play it while super chill. i dont have much reasoning for this aside from vibes
Canaries:
Mithrun: plays Doom. got into Hollow Knight but still hasn't finished it because he keeps getting lost. senshi introduces him to Cooking Mama later on, which he finds surprisingly therapeutic
Cithis: plays Hitman and enjoys staging elaborate accident kills. i think she'd also enjoy The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, with her background as a devious fortune-teller
Fleki: surreal indie games like Hylics. also plays Team Fortress 2, and is a scout main. occasionally joins lycion in Animal Jam
Lycion: active WolfQuest and Animal Jam player. occasionally joins fleki in tf2
Pattadol: plays Stardew Valley – shes comparatively a normie, but on the meticulous side. she would enjoy perfecting her in-game farm
Otta: plays Genshin Impact. the serious reasoning is because of her (earth) elemental magic and how genshin has an elemental magic system (from my understanding. ive never played it). the joke reasoning is how some genshin players play to collect "waifus", and how otta goes through a lot of women in her dating life
Other:
Leed: runs her own guild in World of Warcraft
Winged Lion: god-games like WorldBox or Simmiland. and Darkest Dungeon (this ones mostly a joke)
Thistle: plays the original Plants VS. Zombies. also plays Minecraft and is very serious about it, but hasn't updated his game in years (translating the fact hes a 1000-year-old kid frozen in time -> playing "slightly old" games popular in the early 2010s)
[ID: tweet reply by twitter user ranchuppi – "thistle calls it lord delgal's server but he is the only mod. whole royal family is locked in spectator mode. Hell. living hell on earth."]

#dungeon meshi#delicious in dungeon#its not that spoilery but just in case anyone needs it#ive never owned any game consoles except a laptop so i watch a lot of lets plays/game showcases. and a fair amount of those are indie games#so this is probably a somewhat biased selection. i wanted to give several indie shout outs tho esp if they matched the character well#dungeon meshi spoilers#delicious in dungeon spoilers#mynn.txt#dm meta#yes this goes in my dunmeshi meta tag. this is character analysis to me

Hi everyone! Do you play TTRPGs? I just wanted to let you know about a game that I make with my brother called The Magical Land of Yeld! Yeld is a game about children from our world who discover a magical land and then become trapped their when the door home closes. They have to go on a quest to find a way home again before they turn 13 and become monsters! Yeld is a game about growing up, with a focus on exploration, teamwork and tactical combat. Its a little like a Zelda game crossed with Avatar, with a dose of Final Fantasy Tactics!

The 2nd Edition of The Magical Land of Yeld is available now! Its a big colorful 400 page book, but don't let that scare you! We've designed Yeld for both new and veteran players. If this is your first RPG, you'll find easy to learn rules, with instructional comics to help you along your way! If you're an experienced gamer, Yeld's deep tactical system, endless customization and shared storytelling mechanics offer you a lot of meat to sink your teeth into!

Want more? We've released over 15 expansions for Yeld, including adventures, Job Guides, starter sets and rules for games with just 1 player and 1 Game Master. Our Patreon offers 3+ years of Yeld content, including new rules, miniatures, short stories and player created monsters! We also have an excellent and award nominated actual play podcast called YeldPlay! There's a ridiculous amount of Yeld stuff out there!

And of course, Yeld got its start in the pages of my long running webcomic Modest Medusa!

You can get he hardcover Yeld rule book and PDF from the Yeld site, IPR or Tabletop Bookshelf. The PDF is also available from DrivethruRPG and Itch. I hope you'll check out our game! We're a small publisher and we could use your support! If you give Yeld a try we think you'll really like it! - J

Headcanons abt what kind of games that some of the BBU characters would play (if they we're in modern times ofc) cause i want to
Billie: Slime Rancher, Minecraft, Cookie Run Kingdom etc. They would be a mobile player and like rpg games spesifically. So ooc i think she would also like God Of War Ragnarök and Forza Horizon 5. Their favorite characters would be Mimir and Capsaicin Cookie
Lewis: İ don't think he would play video games often, but he would like Roblox, playing Doors, any kind of diff horror games, and Sprunki. Don't ask why Sprunki
Lily: Visual novel, i remember that one Visual novel game i think it was called Underground Office or smthn idk, she would love that.
Scrimshaw: Final Fantasy series, but he would favour Final Fantasy 7 and 15, his favorites would be Barret and Prompto. I think he would also like Two Souls, Resident evil, Silent Hill, Nier Automata, Deltarune and Undertale.
Percy: He would love Souls games, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Elden Ring etc. He would also like Far Cry 5, Nier Replicant, Assasin's Creed, MMORPG like Final Fantasy 14 and his main class would be either Gunbreaker or Monk. Post-apocalyptic games like Resident evil and The Last of Us.
Fresca: Genshin İmpact and Zenless Zone Zero.(İ don't like either of them tho:/) She would also like Visual Novels, maybe Doki Doki Literature Club. Miiside, Red Dead Redemption 2, Friday Night Funkin', Leauge of Legends, Witcher 3, i think she would be the BİGGEST Triss hater.
Fantoccio: He would like Mascot Horror Like Poppy Playtime and İndigo Park etc even though he cannot handle jumpscares easy. He would also like Detroit Become Human, and Yakuza 0. I don't think that he would play that often tho, only when he doesn't have anything else to do or when he's like REALLY bored.

I roll my eyes whenever anyone implies that there's some sort of divine soul that separates art from not-art.
"It's taking jobs" so does every machine. Should we be raging against self checkouts cause stores start reducing front end associates once they have them? Crossing and traffic lights for taking away the jobs of cross guards? Machines in factories?
"Art isn't like that, art is actually supposed to be fun and enjoyable" There are people who enjoy being housekeeping or a cashier or doing factory work
"Think of all the great artists we're losing" It's not like it's preventing anyone from being an artist in their free time anyway, most (unfortunately) don't make money for their art already.
"They're stealing art" do we need to disable right click save like the NFT guys said, after all I can already steal the art and draw dicks or slurs on it. It'd be a dick move, sure, but I don't see anyone arguing there needs to be laws to prevent it (save me papa Warner Brothers!) You still have your original copy, nothing is stolen any more than downloading ROMs of 90s Japan only RPGs is stealing
"It takes up so much electricity" About as much as, like, 15 minutes of playing a video game, yet you're still posting about having 1000+ hours in just Final Fantasy or Guild Wars or Team Fortress or Warframe or whatever, hell unless you're banging out pieces in less than an hour any digital art probably takes a comparable amount anyway depending on what you got.
"It just looks bad" I agree. Wasn't aware that would stop something from being art.
totally, 100% agreed

The devastating thing to contend with regarding Veilguard is that you are left with two choices:
1) You accept that the story we’ve been waiting a decade for to conclude ended with the lore retconned, our memorable characters flanderized and misused, the world itself far less impressive and interesting and unique than it had originally set itself up to be.
or
2) You disregard Veilguard. You pretend it doesn’t exist, and that means the story is forever incomplete. You don’t receive closure. You don’t receive that last wave of clever, intricate, intriguing, wonder-evoking dynamic writing culminating in a world-shattering conclusion that we’ve been building up for 15 years. Solas and Lavellan are never reunited. The question of Solas’s past, the true nature of the Evanuris, and Solas’s relationship with them remains unknown. The enslaved elves of Tevinter remain sitting in chains. The hinted-at fragmentation and divestment of certain pockets of Dalish and city elves to Solas’s cause remain a potential interpersonal culture war stuck in stasis. Your world state is in eternal limbo, sitting on the hazy precipice of a climax that will never trigger. You as a fan will never have the opportunity to thrust yourself into a rich, magical, poignant universe of political intrigue, culture clashes, historical grievances, metaphysical and philosophical arguments, and relatable moral and ethical struggles to rise from the dirt, dusty and panting, and feel that relief and bittersweetness and mourning of an epic finally reaching a long-awaited end.
It is the fact I have to lie to myself in order to keep what I originally enjoyed so much about Dragon Age alive in my heart. I have to actively delude myself and pretend this game doesn’t exist because it actively and aggressively subtracts and undermines from all that came before it and in doing so retroactively ruins all the enjoyment I derived from the series. The furious debates we had, the essays we wrote for each other analyzing symbolism, characters, personal motivations, the parallels to real life politics regarding classism, racism, colonization, imperialism, marginalization, the nature of power, the nature of memory and history, oppression, legacy, vengeance, justice, love, hate, ambition..
I am not saying that because we were ardent fans that we somehow spiritually or informally own the Dragon Age IP. I’m not trying to come off as entitled, but this is absolutely unacceptable. It is a slap in the face. To say it is a departure from the previous games in tone, feel, and writing is like saying bulldozing a ghetto with citizens still in their beds in order to make room for a heat-trapping super highway is a case of radical “urban planning”.
We were so hopeful. We were so optimistic. We needed to be, because the alternative was despair.
And they gave us this generic fantasy Action-“RPG” with Dragon Age as the negligible setting. It is negligible, because all of the uniqueness of Dragon Age has been filed down to appeal to potential newcomers who want nothing more than a vague fantasy setting with puddle-deep lore that they could easily ignore if they wished so they could get back to hacking away at mobs and demons with shiny combat mechanics; the romances are tacked on and shallow, the character writing as insightful and engaging as a 90s arcade Beat ‘em up. The “Dragon Age” in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a costume, an excuse, a misnomer. With this entry, Bioware/EA have established they care more for action than RPG, that deep, genuine storytelling that can make an IP a household name is not nearly as lucrative or worthwhile as endlessly chasing gaming trends and trying to appeal to new fans by being hip and cool.
But if you sit down and are honest with yourself, could anyone have been able to tie all the threads together in a satisfying way? The people currently left at Bioware certainly couldn’t, but could the entire old crew have helped steer this in the right direction? Was this story simply too epic, the plot threads too numerous, the concepts too far-reaching for adequate exploration to be satisfied with a single new game entry? It stretches belief. But perhaps if that 70% of effort devoted to combat had been instead implemented into the story (rather than the 7% it was allotted. The other 23% was on other bullshit) I’d be thinking differently. The story was what brought Origins to life. Character relationships and the direness of the moral shitshow of the mage oppression were what saved DA2 from being mediocre; the companion romances and the revelations from the Trespasser DLC were what saved Inquisition from being another honestly half-baked entry.
Writing is why Dragon Age fans accumulated. Writing is what made us stay. Writing is what made us hope and pray for a fourth game. And now writing is what has invalidated all of our collective time and efforts in ever daring to give a shit about this world and these fictional characters.
In order for my love of this series to not be snuffed out like a flame in a blizzard, I need to be delusional. I need to pretend this game doesn’t exist. And that means I need to live with a self-imposed false sense of mourning for something that never came to be, because what *did* come to be—what actually exists in reality—is more devastatingly heartbreaking and . It hurts either way. You just have to choose which hairshirt to wear and wear it.
All of our theorizing and hypotheses and headcanons are now retroactively emboldened by a newfound sense of superiority since we were positing them from a place of genuine desire to see a well crafted and thematically sound and intriguing story. But for people like me, no amount of headcanons and fan works can truly compare to a video game or comic or book that crafts a competent, even exemplary, addition to the Dragon Age story.
I am sad and disappointed that I wont be able to play that game and bask in the glory of good storycraft. It’s one thing to read it in a fanfiction, it’s another for it to be in an officially licensed piece of media. It feels more real that way, and because what we got is so lackluster, fanfiction has to serve as the less filling ersatz. It’s somewhat nourishing to me, but it isn’t what I truly crave. I WANTED the story and writing to have been good in Veilguard, but it ISN’T, and no there isn’t any way to just ask them to withdraw the game and come back with something better. This is what we got. This is what they decided to do with something so integral to our lives. It sucks how much it hurts because it is just a video game at the end of the day, but fuck if it doesn’t make the bugs crawl over my brain in lament over this monumental blunder of something I held so near and dear to my heart.

I kinda… maybe wanna play a Final Fantasy game? Maybe? I know it’s probably weird for me to say as a JRPG buff, but my relationship with the series is very complicated.
I’ve never really been that interested in it, and I’ve tried to get into it multiple times just bc I feel like FF is that franchise every JRPG enthusiast needs to play as a right of passage or smth, but every time, I just couldn’t get invested at all.
… that is, until my old boss badgered me to play Final Fantasy VII Remake, and I loved it. I’d never had that much fun with a Real-Time Action RPG before.
So… I kinda want to give the franchise another shot, but I don’t know where to start, bc I’ve played several of them, and couldn’t get into them for specific reasons.
I’d heard from numerous sources that 10 was the best entry for beginners to the franchise, so I picked it up on PS3 forever ago, and the story pacing was just way too slow and confusing for me, and while I liked the combat well enough, it felt pretty vanilla to me as far as turn-based combat is concerned, and didn’t really motivate me to keep playing.
I’ve tried the original FF7, and I kind of liked what I played, but overall, the game just really didn’t age well, and I got really annoyed with the clunky UI, how difficult it was to navigate all the low-resolution maps where doors and pathways are often too LQ to discern, and the lack of direction on where I’m supposed to be going ( I hope Ever Crisis comes to Switch eventually, bc I think I’d really enjoy that ).
I tried 15 as well, and I actually quite enjoyed what I played. I think I just got interested in other titles and never went back to 15, but I don’t generally have any major complaints on my experience with that.
For what it’s worth, I’ve tried Kingdom Hearts too, and just… really didn’t enjoy it. I played through the entirely of the first game, which was a thoroughly unpleasant slog the entire way through, mostly bc of how clunky and stilted the combat was. Then I moved on to Re: Chain of Memories, and hated that even more. I’ve heard it gets better as the series progresses, but given what I know about KH’s story and how important it is to consume all the games to understand what’s going on in later entries, I really don’t want to go back to Chain of Memories. That game is like “Hey! What if we took all the worst qualities of the first game, and made them much, much worse. Also, we’re adding card game mechanics to a real-time combat system, bc fuck you”.
I think… I need new RPG to play
IDK what’s wrong w/ me lately, but I’ve been so uninterested and burnt out on a lot of the RPG franchises I usually obsess about ( Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Persona/SMT, Octopath Traveler, Pokemon, Megaman Battle Network, among others ), but I’ve been trying to play them and I’m just so uninvested in them lately. It feels like nothing new that I’m interested in has come out lately, and I could really use a fresh new RPG title.
And I don’t mean just any title. I need something I can just chew the hell out of. Something I can go absolutely feral for. Not just any cookie-cutter fantasy plot, but characters, stories, and gameplay that will have me frothing at the mouth as I play.
Y’all got any suggestions? Particularly any for the Switch?
I generally mostly enjoy turn-based RPG’s. I’m not opposed to real-time action ( like Nier: Automata ) or a hybrid ( Xenoblade ), but I really prefer turn-based RPG’s. Tactical RPG’s are good too ( Fire Emblem, Valkyria Chronicles, Shining Force ).

Video games being expensive is why I only play retro or indie games these days.
Sure, retro games can be expensive too, but at least you're guaranteed a full game :v
It's really just shooting yourself in the foot to sell games for insane prices like this right now, considering how thriving the indie and retro games scene is. Game of the year Balatro is $14. Cinnabunny, the cozy life simulator game where you play as a bunny who runs a bakery, is only $25. Flinthook and Recettear two of my top 5 favorite games of all time are only $15 and $20 respectively. Suikoden HD remake gives you two classic hundred hour PSone RPGs for $50. The Final Fantasy pixel remasters are all less than $20 a pop, not to mention the original FF7 is $12 FF8 Remastered is only $20 and FF9 is $21. (All default Steam prices btw, which also has Sales every other fucking week.)
Why the fuck would ANYBODY spend $80 on a fucking video game when the backlog is only piling up higher and there's countless indie and retro games that are a fraction of the price and will provide hundreds of hours of gameplay? Nintendo's primary demographic is children. Do you really think that $80 ass Mario Kart and Donkey Kong is going to be able to compete with Roblox and Fortnite, games that are FUCKING FREE?
The only market for these $70-$90 games are silicon valley yuppies and Disney Adult ass Nintendo fans who just buy whatever the hot new thing is BECAUSE it's the hot new thing. And even THEY are going to prioritize the new iPhone and Nvidia RTX raytracing graphics card over the fucking newest Switch 2 game. Every single $70 PS5 game so far has either backpeddled and released a lower price last gen PS4 version after a few months, or goes on sale IMMEDIATELY. People simply are not spending the money on these higher price tags for video games at the scale that they need to for these prices to be justifiable. And why would they when there are infinite cheaper alternatives that provide so much higher value for cost?
