Analysis of the EGO Pink Shoes – Hong Lu – Between Loss of Will and Manifestation of Desire

It's been a while since I wanted to analyse all the EGOs of Hong Lu and I finaly found some time while not being able to draw. I know it has already been done numerous time and I may or may not bring anything new but it is always so fun to analyse all these little details.

So let's start with Roseate Desire:

Roseate Desire is the name of the E.G.O linked to the Abnormality Pink Shoes, which is also related to the Abnormality Red Shoes.

I’d like to begin this analysis by quoting a sentence from @sunshades from their analysis of Ishmaël that perfectly encapsulates the intention behind this EGO and immediately reveals the themes running through it:

“It’s more about a loss of your free will and being controlled by an external force.”

I/ Origin of the EGO: Pink Shoes and Red Shoes

This EGO is drawn from an abnormality derived from Red Shoes, known for amplifying the desires and obsessions of those who wear them. It is therefore relevant to start by analyzing Red Shoes and Pink Shoes together in order to better understand how they function.

These two abnormalities share a central theme: control through desire. They possess the power to enslave the individual through their own cravings.

One of the first visible signs of this control manifests through a pinkish glow in the host’s eyes.

In Lobotomy Corporation, this glow in the eyes of Red Shoes’ hosts indicates that the individual is about to confess their deepest desires to the abnormality.

In Pink Shoes, this glow seems permanent. This could indicate that the desire here is more constant, diffuse, less sudden but more invasive.

Why this difference? Perhaps because lust and desire are more similar in their slow consumption than aggressiveness, which erupts with force.

Indeed, Red Shoes manifests desire through aggressiveness, while Pink Shoes manifests it through lust — if we look at their Sin Affinity. (Have to thanks @firestorm09890's post for helpin me seeing clearer on the subject)

Thus, even if both abnormalities play on desire, they express it in different ways:

Red Shoes = Desire → Violence

Pink Shoes = Desire → Seduction, pleasure, subjugation

A telling example is the employee from Lobotomy Corp who, frustrated by unrequited love, becomes violent under the influence of Red Shoes. Here, even though the base theme is love, it’s the expression of desire through anger that is central, because that’s the nature of Red Shoes.

Conversely, with Pink Shoes, it is through almost sensual and suggestive visual elements (ribbons, poses, implicit BDSM codes) and through a feeling of pleasure that desires are manifested, as seen with Hong Lu and Ishmael.

II/ Pink Shoes: A Parasitic Abnormality

1rst Quick Thought: For me—and for many others, if not everyone—E.G.O and Sinners must share a certain kind of resonance. The Sinner (often unconsciously, I think) recognizes a part of themselves in the Abnormality, and the Abnormality, in turn, reflects that part back. It’s this shared element that enables the manifestation of the E.G.O and allows a bond to form between them. However, that shared aspect doesn't have to be the same for every Sinner. After all, an Abnormality can embody multiple themes or ideas simultaneously.

2nd Quick Thought: Still from my point of view, the initial (non-overclocked) use of an Abnormality E.G.O is more closely tied to the Sinner. At that stage, the Abnormality is still held in check, and its history or consciousness doesn’t yet deeply influence the Sinner’s psyche and behaviour. The lines spoken and the visual elements (sprites, etc.) in this phase seem to be more reflective of the Sinner’s own self rather than of the Abnormality

3rd Quick Note: In contrast, the overclocked state clearly allows the Abnormality to exert more influence—taking up more mental and symbolic space within the Sinner. Its psyche begins to seep into the Sinner, even if it remains loosely aligned with their theme or the shared connection between them. That’s why I’m a bit hesitant to interpret overclocked E.G.O lines as being direct expressions of a Sinner’s personal thoughts. To me, these moments are more about the Abnormality expressing itself through the Sinner’s identity, or more precisely, through that shared facet between them.

Last Quick Thought: That being said, even if it’s mostly the Abnormality speaking in this state, the themes or ideas being voiced and in some cases their sprites are still worth paying attention to when analyzing a Sinner—because that idea might be exactly what enabled their bond to form in the first place.

However, for this particular E.G.O, you’ll see that the corrosion may actually be more closely linked to the Sinner than usual.

Now let’s focus on Pink Shoes alone.

With this EGO, the two characters who embody it express variations of the same theme:

Hong Lu: lack of control, loss of free will

Ishmael: obsessive desire, absolute control of desire over will

What is interesting is that the employes reanimated by Pink shoes -- Pink Shoes Enchantee and Pink Shoes Possesse -- seems to represent the 2 aspects of Pink Shoes -- being possessed and being enchanted. And it seems that this is the same thing for Ishmael, representing the enchanting side and Hong Lu representing the possessing side of the abnormality.

Another notable fact: Pink Shoes seems to be the only EGO whose corroded form is represented in its main art. This could indicate that it's worth focusing more on that form than on the base one. Observing the corroded forms of Hong Lu and Ishmael, we note:

The corrosion from Pink Shoes is less violent and “encompassing” than that of other abnormalities. Even Red Shoes expresses its personality more than Pink Shoes does.

It is more intimate, more personal — it doesn’t manifest the will of the abnormality, but that of the host’s desire. What corrodes the host is their desire pushed to the extreme and how it manages to take control.

I would say that in a way, Pink Shoes is not an autonomous, conscious, or imperious abnormality. It acts like a parasite that lives and spreads through the desires of the host. It has no will of its own beyond its instinct to spread, like mold or a fungus. Pink Shoes has only one desire — that of spreading itself and its ribbons through others’ desires.

Thus, corrosion here can be interpreted as the external manifestation of a deeply repressed inner desire, taking control of its host.

Is the corrosion the host’s extreme desire possessing them?

The image of the pink ribbon invading the host’s body is central. It evokes both:

Constraint (bindings, bondage)

Manipulation (puppet strings)

And this idea of the puppet is especially predominant with Hong Lu, more than with Ishmael.

III/ Hong Lu: Between Puppet and Puppeteer

Hong Lu, in his idle sprite, stands like a limp puppet, hanging and waiting to be set in motion. The ribbons trail on the ground, like strings ready to be pulled.

All of this suggests a person being manipulated to satisfy others’ desires.

Even the EGO art shows Hong Lu suspended, vulnerable, dependent on the ribbon — and therefore on an external will.

But what’s even more striking: in his corroded form, his mouth is covered by a pink ribbon.

This means he doesn’t even have the right to speak, not even to express a personal desire. He is instrumentalized, stripped of any personal will.

With Ishmael, it’s the eye that is covered. She can only see her obsessive desire, represented by Pink Shoes.

Her will for vengeance is strong — but ends up consumed by the pleasure and desire distilled by Pink Shoes. She then becomes the agent of propagation for this abnormality, bound to its ribbons, as we see in her corroded form, where she now speaks of charming and wrapping up. Which is Pink Shoes’ primary desire.

Whereas, Hong Lu's desire expressed in its corroded version (so its strongest version) has taking over his mouth so by preventing him from expressing himself and by instrumentalizing him and reducing him to nothing more than a puppet to be manipulated.

And yes, the theme of being others' puppent, deprived of self is a main theme for Hong Lu.

But is that really all there is to it?

IV/ What if Hong Lu wanted to be in control?

One intriguing detail: his weapon is not his usual one. Here, he wears two pairs of gloves. Why, when Ishmael has kept the same weapon shape?

If we follow the puppet theme… gloves are hands that manipulate. What if these gloves were the expression of a deep and unconscious desire from Hong Lu?

What if, despite his apparent passivity in the face of his lack of autonomy, his true desire was to be in control (of himself) — even if that means controlling what controls him?

He would then become the puppeteer of his own puppet. A disturbing mise en abyme:

Unable to see himself as the one in control of his choices, he is forced to separate his desire and place it as his own puppeteer in order to make decisions for himself. Hong Lu cannot act without being someone’s puppet / being told what to do — and even if his desire is to be in control, he can only do so by being his own puppeteer.

Hong Lu is manipulated by Pink Shoes but uses the gloves to manipulate in turn. Pink Shoes makes Hong Lu into the puppeteer, becoming the puppeteer of his own body — a tragic paradox between submission and illusory control.

Maybe we can even link this idea to this diaologue:

What reinforces this idea is that during his corrosion attack, threads appear, connected to Hong Lu at his various joints. These threads pull Hong Lu’s target… but he himself remains pulled by Pink Shoes. He is both author and tool, master and slave.

And even in his non-corroded state, Hong Lu already speaks of “Tie you just enough,” which for me can have two meanings:

Hong Lu, even by giving himself the role of puppeteer of his own body, is still not truly in control since he is already following someone else’s will — that of Pink Shoes, whose will is to bind people with her ribbons. After all, his regular and corroded attack animations are very similar, which might suggest that from the beginning, when desire is involved, Hong Lu is unable to manifest one stronger than the desire to fulfill others’ wishes.

As it has always been the case for him, Hong Lu controls and manipulates by applying just enough pressure / constraint for it to seem natural. This control is just enough to feel normal, but also not enough to be questioned. Maybe that's supposed to be a hint to the way Hong Lu is controlled.

V/ Lust & Envy: Revealing Sins

Lastly, a quick note on the Sins required to activate the Pink Shoes EGOs, which are revealing:

Hong Lu: Lust & Envy

Ishmael: Lust & Wrath

Lust is shared by both Ishmael and Hong Lu, which makes sense since that is how desires manifest through Pink Shoes.

Indeed in this case, lust is, I think, only referring to Pink Shoes' will to spread and that can be confirmed by Hohenheim's definition of the sins:

"The meaning of Peccatulum Luxuriae, 'Lust', is not exactly what it says on the tin. A more illustrative description would say that it is... ah, yes. An obsession to spread a fragment of what forms the self."

Since Pink Shoes manifest through lust, I don't think that in this case it refers to the sinners. The abnormality clearly want to spread a fragment (the ribbons) of what form its self (the shoes).

So, that being say we have to look at the other sin, that is from where the deep desire is taken from and from which the shoes are goind to feed themselves and implify.

Where Hong Lu requires Envy, Ishmael requires Wrath.

Because Ishmael’s deep desire — her desire for vengeance — was born from her anger and her will to destroy Ahab.

But why Envy for Hong Lu? Two possible explanations in my view:

Because his desire was born from others’ envy to control his life

Or because deep down — and I like to believe this — even if it’s repressed and unconscious, one of Hong Lu’s deepest desires is to be in control, even of himself. Dare I even say he envies Pink Shoes for being able to control him? Maybe it’s an extrapolation, and yet I wonder — why not?

Perhaps it’s an extrapolation. Or perhaps not. After all, isn’t it one of the most human things: to desire that which dominates us, just so we no longer feel lost?

Unfortunately, I didn't really dwell on Hong Lu's eye during this post because I thinkt it will be more interesting to do a post about everytime the jade was active, but that will be for another time!

Relationship analysis:

Seo Hwi x Nam Seon Ho

They are close friends from childhood who have always supported and helped each other. But things changes when they are challenged with reality of the regime, their past, prejudices and intrigues of the powerful men fighting for the influence.

Happy careless times will end when their ambitions put them against each other and Seo Ho driven by his desire to be appreciated by his father beats Hwi unjustly and win the exams. Hwi is dragged out of the arena and Seon Ho's father then send him away to lifetime service in army so he isn't longer a thread to his family

Seon Ho regrets his actions. He takes care of Hwi's sister Yeon, but his guilt won't stop him from trying to get more power to be able to take revenge of his father (and also get his respect, he has some really serious daddy issues). Meanwhile, Hwi is going through hell in battlefield when leaders decide to abandon his unit. Seon ho thinks Hwi is dead.

When they finaly meet again, Hwi saves Seon Ho's life begging the doctor to heal his wound he got in the fight. Hwi still thinks about Seon Ho as his dearest friend and is happy to see him. Seon Ho isn't that happy. Maybe he was feeling the guilt and sadness when he thought that Hwi is dead, but now he probably doesn't know what to do.

It seems that Seon Ho kind of regrets his actions but he decides to stick to his new role and tells some terrible things to Hwi. He admits it was him who sent him to army (but it was actually his father) and now he was sent here to kill the rest of his men. Is it some kind of reverse psychology that makes him do even worse things than he originaly regrets? I have no idea. Seon Ho also tells Hwi that his sister is dead and he will kill him too if he will come back to take revenge on his family. It's probably attempt to protect Hwi and his sister from being killed by his father who is really capable of anything. But it really isn't the best way to protect your fried's life by hurting him more.

From that day, their paths starts crossing more often and Seon Ho is acting like Hwi isn't longer his friend. He convince his father to use Hwi and make him obedient by keeping his sister hostage, which probably saves lives to both of them. But I don't understand why is Seon Ho acting so cruel even though he clearly cares about Hwi and all of this just keep hurting Hwi more and more. More open communication would help a lot. This treatment makes Hwi to change sides and join prince Bang Won who is opponent to Nam Jeon (Seon Ho's father).

Hwi is acting like he has nothing to lose. He doesn't care about himself anymore and there are many situations when Hwi almost dies and Seon Ho is trying to save him over and over again. But now he has not enough power to protect his former friend.

They now stand on the opposit side of the power struggle knowing that one day they will have to face each other and we know this will happend from the opening of the first episode.

As the events progress they meet each other in a fight few times but they have such a love-hate relationship that they are not able to kill each other. They always wound the opponent slightly so he can't fight anymore, but he survives. Seon ho even tells to Hwi: "Your sword still feels affectionate."

Hwi is very generous to Seon Ho, he saves him many times, he stops him from suicide and he apologies for being too overhelmed by revenge that he doesn't saw how much was Seon Ho suffering. But, hear me out. Seon Ho surely has not an easy life, he surely was protecting Hwi and Yeon, but a lot of suffering that he and Hwi were going through was also his fault when he was blinded by his plans and ambitions.

Almost at the end, they again find the lost bond they once had. This however destroy the alliance between Hwi and Bang Won, who is Seon Ho's enemy and who was sparing Seon Ho's life because of his friendship with Hwi. When Seon Ho tries to assasinate Bang Won and fails, Hwi comes to save him. Hwi beggs Bang Won to let them go and promise that he won't be thread to him if he just let save his dearest friend. Bang Won release them and tell them to never come back.

Hwi and Seon Ho are thinking about living better life without intriques and violence, but they are already too deep in the game and they realise that their frieds will always be in danger if they are alive. They decide to make final action. They fight their way to the palace where Bang Won just took the throne and change their lifes for lifes of their loved ones (precisely...Seon Ho sacrifice himself so Hwi can reach Bang Won and then Hwi sacrifies himself for the deal). They die together like friends. It's really epic and I am really glad for this ending, it was kind of poetic.

So, lets make some conclusion. Seon Ho is really shitty friend. Yes, he did protect Hwi and his sister, but his behavior and bad communication helped to make total emotional wreck out of his friend. Seon Ho was very immature from the beggining and he really lack someone who would love him in childhood. I think his psychical instability origin in very young age. He is lucky that he has such a good friend who will not even forgive him, but also undestands him. I am not sure I would be so sympathetic towads him if he wasn't portrayed by Woo Do Hwan who managed to make this character more layered. Hwi's feeling for Seon Ho are not very healthy. But overall, I am glad that they find the way to each other at the end.

I've been thinking a lot to Yumeni aetara today.

Even if I don't know what Eve is saying in the song because I didn't find translation yet, I feel stuffs, I feel things when I listen to this song.

First of all I can't listen to the song without listening to Under Blue instrumental before, It feel like Under Blue is some kind of intro for yumeni aetara and the song is not complete without it.

This song feels like, finding something, something you have been seaching for the whole album.

Dunno how to explain but its like, seaching for something, and then during Under blue you finaly found the thing you where searching for, and then Yumeni aetara is some kind of outcome, of realisation, like you are finally in peace. (don't know if you get my point)

So I love the fact that its the Last song of the album it just feel so good.

Also the song has a lot of emotions and humanity in it (I cried while listeing to it bc it was beautifull call me weak if you want)

It feels like Eve is sharing something with us. In french there is an expression "se mettre à nu" (that can be translated to "get naked" Lmao) and it means that he removed all his layers to share his inner self (still don't know if you get my point)

It feels like Eve is sharing his vulnerabilities, not only in this song but in all, and for me it is a precious feeling.

Bc in this song it feels like embracing all the pain, the Joy and the sadness that makes us who we are and to me it feel so good, all these mixed feeling about growing up, in Eve case becoming a femous artist etc... these feeling are precious to me.

Maybe its not what the song is talking about but its what I feel when I listen to it

Also eng is not my native langage lol sorry if some sentences are wierd

I’m guessing you’re talking about The Day of The Jackal. And to be honest I have not thought about it in so long and my bird motif analysis has been sitting in my notes app like the leftovers in the back of the fridge.

But I’ll try my best to remember everything.

However, this show is very well done and there is a lot of great juicy symbolism and parallels.

Here’s a little gem from my drafts.

For the entire season Bianca and the Jackal are set up to be equal opponents, foil and mirroring characters, and that split screen scene from the finale. However from the episode we learn that Bianca can’t see the Jackal and he can.

So the Jackal knows about Bianca, and knows that he is not the good guy.

However Bianca only sees herself, not her inner Jackal, she is still hanging onto her job and believes that she is in the right. It’s very interesting to see her decent as she like the Jackal becomes desperate.

also another thing I would like to point out about the tragic poetic of the finaly.

J = white man, always one step ahead and can see Bianca.

B= black woman who is one step behind, gets left behind/forgotten

so I have read this before during my first portal phase which, granted, was in probably... 2017? 2018? some of 2019? no clue I don't like thinking about when i was 13 that was cringe as hellll. First of all, love the entire premise. we never know what happened to Chell after the end of Portal 2, much less Mel, but whatever did we can assume it was probably a lot better than being stuck in a facility made up of machines that want you dead but also worse in the respect that ... well, you're alone now and have to fend for yourself. Remember how to be a human being. Finding food and water and shit with zero idea if you're the last person on earth or not. Imagine being starving and exhausted and probably on the brink of death with a diet of nothing but decades old canned goods and water that probably isn't good either. Then getting basically scruffed like a cat by a robot that drags you back down into the place you fought so hard to escape from, and thrown straight back into testing. Mocked and tormented by a cold, unfeeling machine you accidentally brought back to life to save your own.

The relationship Mel and Virgil have built is so…. vague. And i love it. Neither of them would say i love you and yet both of them would die for the other. Virgil HAS died for her. He defied GLaDOS probably at least 4 different times just to protect her, fully knowing a worse fate would await her if he stood idly by and did nothing at all. His ultimate flaw, and something that is touched upon often, is that he cares. He cares so much. No other personality construct seems to have the amount of empathy he holds for Mel, and it shows. I <3 yearning. I <3 never being able to act upon it.

Something else I think about is that Mel can't even scream. Cry. All you can do is croak and even that feels like it'll make you cough blood. i think she'd be so happy to get her voice back (I can't remember if it was reversible) so she can catch up on all the screaming and crying she missed. Curl up in a little ball for a bit. The grieving she had no time to do. - some of my favorite bits. i don't really have anything to say here they just make me insane

Had he been human like herself, there would be nothing barring her from holding him close and seeing what she could do about his vitals, but he wasn't. He was a machine. A highly advanced machine from an age she did not belong in.

The whole flashback sort of thing with Dr. Aadland destroying the GLaDOS prototype... I'm obsessed with the very idea of all the personality constructs being formerly human. What lives they lead, the relationships they may have had with each other before being converted to machines, their memories picked and chosen, deleted by hand to cultivate a new personality, a pale imitation of the real thing.

The person he was, the person responsible for not only building her chassis but involuntarily assisted in being a guinea pig for what they would do to Caroline. Her fate was sealed with his death and yet all she has is spite for him. I guess as some form of catharsis. They took your memories from you. They did a Boeing whistleblower level cover up. You will not be remembered, you will not be mourned. You are nothing, in death and what came after. I don't think Aadland really thought about saving her in particular when he decided to have a textbook crashout, more about the impact it would have on the world overall.

No matter how strong you think you are, anyone is a mere few nights of bad sleep or none at all from entering psychosis.

They took away from him the facets of his personality that made him Dr. Aadland. And while we'll never really know exactly what kind of person he was from the little flashes we get, I like to think he was sort of an uptight asshole. Thinking he's better than everyone, getting exhausted with others that fail to understand the reaches of his vast intellect. Something that Virgil could never imagine being. All torn away from him, shoved into a robot with a mere fraction of his intelligence, and all the emotional instability. Possibly one of the greatest minds among them reduced to nothing but a mumbling slurring mess of machine that can barely remember its own name.

Phineas and Ferb

Starting with what I’m sure everyone wants to hear, my take on the Doofenshmirtz and Perry. People say that they’re pitch, but the anon who requested this was definitely right, there are pale moments. I however would like to go one step further and say that it looks almost entirely pale to me. If you look at the behaviors that make people think that they’re pitch, it’s all because it’s pretty much therapy for Doof. The schemes and traps and shouts of “curse you Perry the platypus!” aren’t from hatred, it’s because he’s letting go of some past trauma. It’s one of my favorite tropes to be honest (so I’m probably a little biased), the pale couple who looks pitch at first glance. (Note: the only reason why I am saying any quadrants at all is because it is made clear that Perry is sentient, sapient, and capable of clear communication.) Moving on to the other thing anon was right about; there is definitely a multi quadrant pitch/pale/flushed situation happening with Baljeet and Buford. There’s that strange level of comfort mixed with the frequent intimidation that would indicate either very close enemies or kismesissitude. They also have their moments of holding each other back, calming each other down, and otherwise acting like moirails. The flushed part of the equation seems to mainly be in between being pitch and pale, having brief matespritships as a midpoint during vacillation between kismesissitude and moirailleigence.  One of the more obviously shown relationships is Isabella’s flushcrush on Phineas. I don’t think that this one requires too much explanation. It is possible that the relationship may be pale throughout most of cannon, with Isabella trying to vacillate to a flushed relationship. 

Similarly, Candace and Jeremy seem to have a simple flushed relationship, while at times Candace seems a little obsessive it is not much to worry about in the long run, and overall their relationship seems to be a matespritship.

Candace is very close with Stacy, and this could either be just really close friends, or a moirailleigence. There isn’t too much to say for this dynamic except that rarely Candace needs help with her relationship with Jeremy, and although I don’t think it’s hate-based Stacy will step up as a pseudo-auspistice to help keep the pair happy. (some vacillation is normal in any relationship, so sometimes Candace and Jeremy may be actually pitch, with Stacy being their auspistice.) It is clear that regardless of if they’re moirails or not they do mean a great deal to each other, but with how they act the pale quadrant is a safe bet.

Last relationship I’m going to cover in this analysis is Ferb and Vanessa. From their age differences in the main show ( Ferb is around 9-10 and Vanessa is 15-16) it is somewhat uncomfortable for me to say there’s anything there, but in the future when they are both adults they are shown to be dating. We don’t see enough of the relationship to properly categorize it, but because they say they’re together it’s probably concupiscent, and if I had to guess I would probably say flushed.

I really hope 1. the sentimonster theory is true, so that way we would finally get an interesting side plot line than the “i want my wife back, better beat up kids that are in love” “”plot”” but also 2. Felix is the only sentimonster. I would really prefer only him than Adrien to be one. Not just because it would make more sense to give such a tragic deposition to a side character than main character, but it’ll be a main component to finally separate him from Adrien.

I guess I dont mind if both of them are. I mean the ring rubbing for adrien (which is ‘evidence’ I dont really like to rely on too much because the ring theory is too messy, but its definitely something to not ignore) wishmaker episode only knowing to obey parents since birth pretty much, and the biggest and most sus evidence is ‘evolution’ episode where adrien’s parents are clearly going to make something. So it could be both of them, but this is why I’d prefer it to be felix.

Felix and Adrien are so similar in almost every part of their life. They are both from rich families, both dont have the best social skills making friends (but obviously adrien more so than felix), they both lost a parent also around the same time, they’re very exceptional with everything they try at, and literally similar arcs (as we know so far) with wanting to be independent. But they’re different how? Felix is the mean one? That’s just not enough to have 2 distinguishing characters. They can have similar arcs but clearly need their own crutch or stic ya know to be different. Clearly adrien already has his cat noir arc plus papa being baddie going on. So it would be so interesting to not just stack another awful thing onto adrien and instead give it to felix where he finaly has his own thing going on.

At the moment, the theory is not yet 100% confirmed (not counting just ‘tweets’ its gotta be said in the show, finding out through twitter doesnt count and if we needed to find out through twitter then that isnt good writing....but...its miraculous soo lolll) The audience however is now more conscious about the idea of sentimonster rights lol. So who better to explore that avenue than someone who is one. 

Adrien has a lot on his plate already to be a sentimonster lol. Even though I find it hard to see how adrien isnt in the mix of all this, especially with the evidence that supports adrien being one...evolution episode being the biggest one.

crazy theory: Gabriel and Emelie made a child (felix) using the peacock miraculous because Emelie couldn't bear one (painting of emilie reference)...but then later she actually miraculously did get pregnant, and thats adrien. 

Emilie: “soo what are we going to do with this child that we created?”

Gab: “eh..just give it to your sister”

(LOL) The alternative is adriens and felix parents back and forth passing each other the peacock miraculous to make their own children, which is tooo messy. Ya my theory falls a lil towards the end lol, but everything is pointing to both or one of them being sentis but we just know how it all happened.

Conclusion, give felix the sentimonster arc, it’ll be cool, and he would be able to handle it more than adrien who already has a lot on his plate. Wether some of us believe in the theory or not, cant lie and say the destruction of sentimonsters is not in our conscious now after Risk. Everytime we see one get snapped out, thats a sentient being losing its life. Gosh what an interesting avenue to explore uhgh if it ever happens, if not a much more interesting side plot better replace it. And I mean a really goood motive for felix. It must be good since they have been hiding it for so long no??

Öncelikle sezon finalini çok eleştirenler oldu, hayal kırıklığına uğrayanlar oldu, ve ne yalan söyleyim, bence de 31. Bölüm yerine 30. Bölüm'de sezon finali yapılsaydı daha iyi olurdu. Bu bölüm beni yine duygu yoğunluğu ile, ve başımıza 6 Bölümdür peydah olan, bu jet hızı ile herşeyden önce yordu ve üzdü. "HiLeon bu bölüm berbattı" diyenler var, onlara "haksızsınız" diyemesem de, yavaşca ve nazikce "okadar da kötü değildi" demek istiyorum. Evet daha iyi, çok daha iyi olabilirdi. Evet, bizim çiftimiz bir vedayı hak etmişti. Evet, Hilal çok pasifti ve bazı replikleri tam bir rezaletti ("benim ağabeyim bir yunan olamaz" da ne yahu?!?). Ama bence HiLeon'un özensiz sahnelerinin bu kadar göze batmasının sebebi YılKe denen... ayh, kelimeler kifayetsiz kalıyor artık. YılKe denen o "çiftin" suçuydu işte. HiLeon kos koca bir sezon boyu ince ince nakış gibi işlendikten sonra, sezon finali bölümünde YılKe denen içi boş, samimiyetsiz, hiç bir geçmişi ve üzerine sarf edilmiş zerre kadar emek olmayan çiftin öne serilmesi, onlara bir veda sahnesi yazılıp, HiLeon'a yazılmaması kabul edilecek birşey değildi. Neyse, bu kadar teferruat yeter, ben geleyim sadete: Cevdet kızı Hilal ve HiLeon. Hilal'in pasifleştirilmesiyle iligili çok yazılar okudum, çok yazılar paylaştım, ve bu durum için gelecek sezon en kısa yoldan bir çare bulunmazsa barakalara çıkacağımdan emin olabilirsiniz, sevgili Nuran Evren Sit Hanım ve ekibi. Birde bazen işte ne oluyor bilmiyorum, senaristlerin eli mi kayıyor, kahveyi fazla mı kaçırıyorlar, senaryoyu yazarken klaviaturun üzerine kedi mi atlayıp tepiniyor, bilemiyorum, ama bazen gerçekten Hilal'e hakaret sayılacak replik yazıyorlar. "Benim ağabeyim bir yunan olamaz" da ne? Ne bu yahu? Yakıştı mı şimdi Hilal'e? Canından çok sevdiği adam bir YUNAN iken, Hilal NEDEN Ali Kemal'in yunan olmasına kafayı taksın ki!? İkinci sezonda Hilal sevmeyi öğrenecek. Herşeye rağmen kaliteli bir dizinin sezon finalini izlediğimizi düşünüyorum. Bazı ayrıntılar gelecek sezonda daha dikkatlice yazılırsa, karakterlerin bazı yanları biraz daha törpülenirse, hak eden karakterlerin potansiyeli boşa harcanmazsa, tadından yenmeyecek bir ikinci sezonun bizi beklediğini düşünüyorum. Son olarak da en bi sevdiğim karakterin en bi sevdiğim repliklerinden biri ile sezon finali yorumumun kapanışını yapmak istiyorum: "Umut her zaman vardır."

yay! another ds hater hater welcome to the club! fandom finaly opening eyes on how bad he is and i'm so happy to see it

I am not a DS hater. DS is actually my favorite male Even interpretation. I am pretty sure the adjectives I just used to describe DS were remarkable and growth. Also, am going to quote myself now because I added onto that “I will fight anyone that says that boy didn’t deliver in the hotel scene because DAMN.......I remember watching that scene and getting chills”(he was that good in that scene).”

Please do not use negative connotations like hate to outline what is actually an appreciation of an actor but an honest analysis of their work. It perpetuates a stereotype that one is not able to decipher merit when examining an actor’s body of work. I don’t love every single portrayal Denzel Washington has ever done (Unstoppable what was that) but Denzel Washington is still one of greatest American actors alive but that portrayal didn’t work for me. DS wasn’t perfect but he is still my favorite interpretation of Even amongst the male Evens (Henrik is on his heels tho).

Some thoughts and analysis on Clarabelle and Horace

I wanted to write this for a long time!

Buckle up guys, this is gonna be long!

As you probably know if you ‘re following my blog, I am a big fan of the series Pippo Reporter (Goofy reporter) written by Teresa Radice and illustrated by Stefano Turconi.

For those who are not familiar with the saga, it’s a series of stories that take place in 1930′s America revolving around the life of Goofy who works as a reporter with the narrative building up and leading to his first meeting with Mickey.

The stories feature the usual cast of characters but what I find fascinating is that not all relationships are established in the beginning of the story. (e.x Goofy and Mickey haven’t met yet, the Phantom Blot hasn’t become the Phantom yet...). I could even dare call it a prequel of the ‘cannon’ events.

Here’s where Claire and Horace come in! I ‘ll attempt to present a chronicle of their relationship, along with some analysis and the reasoning of why I find their ship so well written in this particular saga.

Let’s start with the first story!

In the first story “Cronista per caso” both characters are introduced seperately.

Horace is in this series the introverted mayor of the city and Minnie’s boss as she’s his secretary at the town hall.

Claire is a fortune teller, a friend of Minnie whose advice she seeks in tricky situations. In the first story Minnie particularly seeks her advice for a matter concerning Horace and her job and Claire is happy to assist her.

Now, disney fans usually know that these characters are in most stories portrayed as engaged or in a relationship, so in this scene it’s established that in this narrative they don’t know each other (yet).

But for readers not so familiar with the disney canon (as I was when I first read the story) who don’t know that Claire and Horace are meant to be together, this scene still establishes them as two individuals associated with the main characters.

In both cases though, a link is made subconsciously between Claire and Horace, forming a base on which their relationship will be built.

As concerning the plot, this is the moment when Claire first hears about Horace who -as he’s the mayor- undoubtedly has heard of before (if not voted for) and she has her first glimpse in his private life through Minnie’s sayings. It’s a nice starting point in this episode for their subplot to begin.

In the second story, “Vasetto sospetto’‘, Claire and Horace don’t appear at all so I won’t bother examine this one.

In the third story though, “Crociera con ghiaccio”, we have the next clue.

“ [Mickey] won’t be able to attend [the cruise], he is very busy with his work! Claire, a friend of Minnie, will replace him (...). I could have taken Horace with me but he’s the mayor and mayors always have many things to do”

Once again Claire and Horace don’t interact and once again a link is made between them by reffering to them in such a way.

Here we are presented with a motif which is very important in “Pippo reporter”. The motif of ‘failed meeting’ as I call it. It has been established in previous stories that main characters (mainly Mickey and Goofy) had had many chances to meet all of which failed in the last moment.

Some other examples:

The reader, knowing by experience that those meetings are the most important plot points and meant to be epic (everybody knows that Goofy is Mickey’s best friend) now applies the same motif to Horace and Claire, even if they are not familiar with them.

Progress is also made in the fourth story, “Finale di campionato”

Here we learn Horace’s fascination with baseball and the whole plot revolves around him looking almost identical to his favourite baseball player, practically being his clone.

Horace ends up taking his idol’s place in the championship after the athlete’s mysterious disappearence.

Where has this player gone to?

At Claire’s aunt’s farm in the countryside trying to escape his overwhelming life as a sports celebrity!

“And he’s not at all ugly, isn’t he?” rushes to comment Claire upon first setting eyes on him.

That’s what I call forshadowing!

And her physical attraction to him persists on the entirety of the story. The first solid base is set for her later meeting with Horace and her -now undoubtful- falling for him.  At this point, even for not disney connaisseurs, it becomes evident that Claire will be Horace’s love interest.

Their official meeting happens in the fifth story, “La perla del fiume”!

I think that all necessary setting up has been established from previous episodes and now we are finaly ready -and curious- to witness their meeting!

Goofy: Oh, I haven’t introduced you! Claire, this is...

Claire: Our first citizen, Horace Horse, so mysteriously intruguing!

Goofy: And she is...

Horace: Claire la Belle, fascinatingly charming woman and fortune teller!

The attraction is instant and evident! A “love at first sight” that is actually believable. Why that? Because proper setting up has preceeded. It’s not the sudden ‘‘love montage’‘ that we ‘d get form a disney movie (I’m not accusative, I actually love them).

I can’t actually find a scene from the saga that explains how Horace already had heard of her, but with some guessing and common logic, I can assume that either Minnie or Goofy (who by now are his close friends) would have surely mentioned Claire to him and her involvement in some of their previous adventures.

It’s really realistic how they came together, getting to know each other through mutual friends.

Hoarce: You have a lovely hand!

Claire: Yours isn’t quite bad either! Would you mind me reading it sooner or later?

Horace: I would also have you read me your phone number!

Claire: What a brilliant idea! I always loved giving numbers!

They’re meant to be! (poor Goofy third wheeling)

I love how from the first moment they can’t get their eyes from each other.

There’s no more to say! They are so cute!

And they soon, almost at once confess their feelings to their friends (tbh Horace does try but Goofy is kinda oblivious, Minnie on the other hand is much more in sync).

And there is obviously a ball which they attend together:

I really like how Turconi makes sure to make their love so evident throughout the story’s events, event at a paranoic degree, just to show how in love they are:

I ‘m sure someone’s getting their ears chopped off in that fight but they keep dancing serenely. And poor Goofy just ... exists there (I feel you fam)

Claire: They have stopped playing the music...

Horace: Does it matter? Your voice is music to my ears!

I don’t know the bodycount of that fight, but good for them!

Claire: May I have this last dance under the moonlight?

Also Claire: May I also have this last dance under the sunlight?

And that concludes the ball and starts their relationship (dating at this point to be precise)

I particularly find the story’s ending very touching:

Horace: *spotting the motorcycle* Would you mind ... ?

Claire: Are you kidding?

Claire: It’s so romantic!!!

At the very next story (”Un ombrello, un capello, un monello”)  they’re already a couple:

The romance reaches its peak in “La piuma d’ oro” in which they get officially engaged and have their first (shown) kiss. This is actually the core of the whole episode and their relationship is for the first time, not a sideplot, but the actual plot.

Their sideplot may have already concluded in “La piuma d’ oro”, but them being a couple now gains a plot forwarding role.

Claire: But what are you doing?

Horace: Making your dream come true my treasure!

In “Quel faro sui monti del lago” the characters find themselves entangled in another adventure only because Horace takes them on vacation in the place where Claire dreams to go (get you a rich mayor for fiance ladies)

And it’s time for their relationship to have its first test! While on vacation they meet this beautiful German (who **spoiler** turns out to be a spy)

Instant dislike! (I still prefer Silvia Ziche’s designs of displaying jealousy but Turconi gave us this fashionably annoyed Clarabelle so I can’t argue)

It was about time for them to endure jealousy. As in real relationships after some while not everything is seen through rose tinted glasses.

Still, everything turns out okay, leading to their last appearence together in the saga in the final story, “ Il rustico cavallerizzo”.

Minnie: The mayor has just arrived in the box of honour!

Lady: Let me see! Let me see! Is he in sweet company?

That’s how we leave them, together, officialy a couple and happy!

In conclusion, I really liked how this series treated them. Radice took time to first develop them as individuals, give them distinct personalities that also work apart. She made also sure to make them compatible and discretely foreshadow their romance, so when it comes it doesn’t feel forced or rushed but expected and natural. They also remain consistent as side characters who don’t disappear after their sideplot is concluded. They continue making appearences, both together and individually, that also forward the plot. The relationship between them evolves gradually, passing through different levels and situations to arrive at the point of ‘‘cannon’‘ events (by which I mean the disney lore outside of the saga).

I think that I said all I wanted to say, perhaps even more that needed to be said. But as I really like those characters and as I am a great fan of Radice and Turconi’s work I couldn’t pass up this chance to talk about them!

Chapter Sixteen: Watcher in the Woods

Another day, another post on our girl while I’m dealing with a fractured wrist. Times are fun and I’m avoiding my responsibilities. 

This is the start of short sleeve sweater Veronica! I love it. The checked black and white pattern on this shirt is stunning and one of the first times we’ve really seen Ronnie in a stand out pattern. Her skirt here is a simple black skirt, however note the small bow embellishments. It looks like it might have pockets, but that could just be a lighting thing. Her pumps are simple too, they seem to be made out of mesh with some sort of pattern in them? 

I LOVE THIS TOP! The navy. The pointelle detail. The jewel buttons. The short sleeves. I love it. I wish we got to see more of what skirt she paired it with... I’m thinking simple black with some pumps. 

The scalloped coat from 113 returns. We know I love it. 

Plastic gloves. A look.

Guys. This is a jumpsuit! Our girl is wearing a jumpsuit! I love this. The pearl double breasted buttons are a brilliant and completely in Veronica’s wheelhouse. This is the second time we’ve seen this blazer style of Veronica this season and I’m really here for it.  

Peep the drop pearl earrings she wears here. Love it. Again.

This is a LOOK! There’s alot going on with this dress. The lace, the cutouts, the mesh. Paired with a navy satin cropped jacket. It’s strangley risque for the setting. I mean, if I were to be having dinner with my boyfriend and my parents, I don’t think I would pull out the cut out front dress, but Ronnie manages to make it classy. Natually, the pearls are everywhere. She’s with her parents after all. 

Finaly outfit of the epiosde and it’s YELLOW. The last time she wore yellow, I talked about how it was her dissociating herself from her Mother. Here, she’s trying to get into the family buisness to really suss out what’s going on with her family. The change in colour palette is yet another link to her family through her wardrobe.

Can I include portrait Ronnie in this analysis? If so, note she’s wearing the same Ted Baker dress from 102. 

Total: Five, six with the coat over the top!

Ted Baker Count: Eleven, we haven’t moved. 

Tear Drop Necklace Appearance: Yes! We love an apperance of the tear drop necklace!

Favourite Outfit: I actually love the pearl button playsuit. It’s so different for our girl. Favourite singular piece however, goes to the jewel button top. I love a pointelle knit.

DUDE, F THANK YOU!!! I TOLD ISAAC THE VERY SAME THING AND AFTER HERE TO HELP EVERYTHING MADE SENSE!!! I legit thought Marco started having feelings after his fight with Ludo, just like Isaac one theorized, and Star shut down (unknowingly) those feelings on BMB, because, as you precisely pointed out, it was just a spark (we got from "My thoughts on Marco" -via the Magic Book of Spells - that she too started having those feelings since the beginning), (1/3)

she didn’t know what exactly she felt for Marco, so at that time she needed him as a friend and thats what she got from him until Storm the Castle, where it started hitting her like a rock. Then we got to see though her eyes how she fell in love with Marco (and by that I mean how her feelings developed) and yada yada, but, after CotBM, all of us could see that she lied about not having feelings anymore, but we were not 100% sure if Marco’s feelings were real, (2/3)

because the show is not in his perspective, but in Star’s, and we got all sorted out in his confession, which literaly showed us that his feelings were mirrowed like Star’s. Again f thank you!!! I’m glad you liked my analysis and you’re absolutely right! Since we hardly saw Marco’s perspective, and he’s more introspective than Star, it was hard to pin point exactly when he started falling in love until he said it, and everything made sense after that! But, sadly, almost everyone misunderstood and it was mainly because it was hard to pick up the subtext for Marco. I’m glad other people like you got it!
