So I just finished binging Invincible and wanna talk about it. Other than the show, I know nothing about it, the comic or the people involved in making the animated series. So this isn't focused on any behind the scenes or stuff like that, just my immediate thoughts. Spoilers I guess

First, I had known it through memes back when it was first coming out. I thought the style looked like something I'd be interested in so I was like, "yeah I'll check it out" then promptly forgot about it. Then it kinda started resurfacing again with fanfics so I was like, "now I really gotta watch it."

I knew it'd be bloody and I knew it was superheroes.

Still wasn't prepared for it.

Anyways, I loved it. The small details really had me, like the demon detective causing the rooms he was in to be really cold, Debbie's clothes drawn more flowy when she starts to relax, or how Mark was drawn more tired as the series went on. I also loved how characters with brief appearances in the beginning were always brought back later, like "Hey I remember you."

I also liked how it started pretty basic, like the original guardians all seemed to be copies of already well known heros (Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Batman, etc.) So you kinda expect the same type of heroic story to unfold. But then BAM! You got a whole bunch of bloodshed and betrayal from the get-go. We're not in Kansas anymore Smallville

Which let me talk about the blood for a minute. There is. So. Much. Blood. Like I feel like I saw Mark in more red than he ever was in blue, my God. And the title screen changes? First season of getting splattered with blood, more and more of it till fully covered? I loved that detail. Plus how all the other title changes afterwards looked, one of them being the screen cracking and crumbling until a new colored title was left, I feel like it really fit with the show like how Mark's world, and he himself, was changing, becoming gruesome or broken or just different. Loved the title screens. Plus how, at first, no one said the name "Invincible" just cutting to the title screen. That was fun.

I liked Mark's relationships too, like they felt real which I'm not usually a fan of (the drama of it). But he worked through it so well, so did the people he was with (his mom, Eve, Amber, William). They were all oddly sweet and understanding and I thought it was nice to see. Even his bad relationships were pretty real feeling (with Cecil, his dad, the other heroes). Those moments when they were focused on made me think "Mark's really sweet" and "Mark is a good guy" in both the personal and heroic sense.

Which is a perfect detail to have me thinking through the story because that's essentially what he's struggling through. Wanting to be the good guy, do the right thing, help/save everyone. But not always being able to because there's to many things to do, too many people to save. Having to wonder if being a full and true good guy is the right thing. Being slowly broken down by that worry, by the people starting to blame you for one wrong thing over looking at the multitude of good.

And later in the show making his brother Oliver be the voice in his head to cause him to doubt the straight path even more. Having Oliver, such a small and young kid so blatantly okay with killing and encouraging Mark to do it as well? That was such a good detail. Cause, maybe Oliver is full alien and the mindset might be different, but you don't expect that from a child. And since he's his brother, Mark would slowly become more inclined to listen. He'll have to decide what he's okay with, what type of hero he wants to be. You hope for the best, cause you know he's good, but want to see what breaks him, if he can pull himself out of it.

It was nice to see Mark drop out of college too, then see him needing to still live with his mom for afterwards. That's sounds weird but I mean it's nice since there are a lot of people who do the same, which further helps build a connection to him. It was nice to see how different characters felt toward college too, like Mark had bad grades, yes cause superhero stuff, but people go through that and go despite it. And his main reason for going wasn't cause it's something he was pushed towards, it was for his girlfriend which is also a relatable motivator for some people. Amber just always wanted to go, William's motives seemed like a mix between Mark and Amber's (going just cause and for his to be boyfriend). Then there's Eve who didn't want to go, which a lot of people don't, but then decided it was better if she did, and some people change their minds the same way.

I also loved how multiple different types of a family could be portrayed. Eve with parents she wants to get away from, Rex with no family, many heroes only being seen for their experimental value, and Mark with the perfect family. Mark who goes from the ideal setting to being broken, fighting between parents then between parent and kid. I thought it was a unique detail. More ways for an audience to relate.

And the fighting between parent and kid?

I kinda wish that Omni-man was a full on bad guy cause it'd be interesting. But there are plenty of other straight bad guys for that, and then it'd leave the story at a bit of a stand still, kinda make Omni-man irrelevant. But that part's not too important.

Getting to see him be the perfect father and husband at first? Then see him for the first time hint that he may be hiding something when he (what we learn is the first ever time) punched Mark for training? Hearing how Mark felt about it then seeing the two hug and make up? It was sweet. You root for things to say nice and perfect, hope they'll work things out.

Then that doesn't happen. There's hiding and snooping, lies and manipulation. The dropping of a persona. Admission of it all, of what the true intent was the whole time, saying your family basically didn't matter? That your wife was a pet?

And father and son fight.

And it is grotesque and bloody, unforgiving and angry. Millions of civilians caught in the battle, Mark feeling at fault for it. I felt so hurt watching it, just thinking "how could you do that to your kid?" Then hearing a battered and bruised, barely breathing Mark say "I'd still have you, Dad." Seeing how much he still loves him despite all of this? My soul is in pain.

And Omni-man just vanishes without a word.

Very sad and beautiful.

And his mom needing to point out how much she did for Mark, how unappreciated her work went by others and herself? A very real situation. Having a kid so in awe by a parent who is out there working, or something similar, but not really caring too much about the one at home? Starting to break down once realizing it, having to do things by yourself officially despite technically having always done it. Also sad and heart wrenching

Two sides to the same coin

But not just Mark got the scenes to pull at your heartstrings. There was a few scenes of kinda unimportant people too, where they'd just talk about their situations but say how much they love where they're at despite it. Some scenes there weren't even words, but you could tell everything through the music and animation. I just feel like they did a good job making you think about the normalcy while bringing in the super stuff.

The show is just good at bringing up the realities of what a hero can face, the hardships, the pain, the worry and doubt, which really makes me love it

For all it's seriousness and heavy topics though, the show was still funny. And the voice actors did a great job with the dialogue as well. There were lines not expected from heroes, but are from normal people, which they are under the masks.

Overall, it was really good, loved watching it, and can't wait for more. I will be consuming any other Invincible stuff I can while I'm obsessed which hopefully includes reading the comics at some point

Wipdate!

Well. It's been like three years since I've done one of these, hahaha, but I've been missing fandom life so I thought it'd be fun to share an update of where I'm sitting. Toddlers manage to take like 140% of your time and energy, even though they sleep a lot, so I've mostly just been parenting, but I've been getting the writing bug lately, so there's very slow progress, but progress nonetheless.

Basically, I have a list of fics I want to make sure I finish. They're the ones it would break my heart to look back on twenty years from now and realize I put all that time and those words into something that never got shared. I haven't been having new ideas very much, so I'm putting all my creative energy into things I've either promised to other people or to myself.

This wiplist is basically just going to be my list of "I'll be sad if I never finish them" fics I mentioned above. I have no plans to stop writing fic entirely, but I'm definitely slowing down, and I want to focus on the stuff that will feel really good to have done so I don't ever leave myself or you guys hanging!

1) Held edit (the chaptered repost) and Held Remix (at least S1). @ashes0909 and I are picking away at it, but between three kids, two jobs, and two timezones, it's slow af. But we'll get there.

2) My other 2023 MTH fic, older professor Tony and young flirty student Steve for @sabrecmc pod bid. It's maybe a third done.

3) My contribution to the Stony Dating Sim game from MTH 2024 (I'm doing Ults Tony as a love interest. If you want to know more, check out @stevetonydatingsim).

4) My Stony Twilight AU. I posted a snippet of it here a long time ago and I've been picking at it ever since. It's at 33k and probably about halfway done.

5) Fangbait 3. My Fangbait series was always intended to have three parts. Two are up already. The third was on hiatus for a long time, but I just abruptly wrote 80% of it last night, so once I get the sex scenes (and a title oh no) done, she'll be good to go!

6) Yet I Will Try the Last has been waiting for waaay too long for an update and I feel really bad about it. It was the one time I experimented with posting an unfinished WIP (mostly because it started as a oneshot and then I started adding to it) and I regretti spaghetti every day that I did that lol. I. Have. Not. Given. Up. I have the outline for the rest, I know what I want to do, I just need to do it.

7) Brooklyn is a canon divergence from right after Avengers 2012 where Stony travels on a modified quinjet together, cleaning up the chitauri weapon's market. It's maybe a third to a half done? Another one I started a loooong time ago and never got my steam back with, but I would really like to. I really like that one.

8) A Venom/Eddie fic from right after the first movie. It's not too long and it's probably also about halfway done, so I believe in myself. It's called Parasite.

9) A collab started a few years ago that I'm not going to out here in case my collab partner doesn't want to do it anymore, but we did a fair bit of it so I'd love to get it done.

Writing comes in little spurts, but I have to pick and choose between my hobbies now, so I just have less time and energy to spend on one thing. I've been trying to read more to fuel the words! I also have OG stuff I'm working on, but that's just as slow as the other stuff lol. I miss you guys! Hope y'all are doing well. (Happy Easter if you celebrate!)

a hero who will never be seen in the world again: Record Keeper's Notes

Chapter 1

Yeah this is just a little series I'm starting to talk about my fic- behind the scenes if you will and even some missing scenes that didn't quite make the cut and maybe bonus context and content here and there lol. It's all very self indulgent for whoever is feeling curious and bored enough to stay :) Also I have writer's block so this'll get me in the mood to write. Have fun.

Of course, we should start with the first chapter. To be honest, starting this fic, I didn't think too hard about it except that Cale will die and I'll make it as excruciating as possible, and the words moved from there. I figured the first line of chapter 1 should throw you in there immediately- "two months." of course, most of the time, knowing exactly how something is going to end could be a bit boring, but by knowing from the start that Cale's happiness is doomed, it's fun isn't it? Adds an underlying sad tone to every single happy scene, hehe :)

Though regarding the whole logistics of Cale dying, I thought a lot about the novel and how Cale has already been put in situations where he'll die in X days or will probably die someway somehow, like with the imbalance of his APs, and Cale being Cale managed to live despite it. So I thought if I just gave him a regular terminal disease, he might just break into the nearest Wuxia world and steal their legendary mystical all-cure ginseng. So of course, fantasy problems require fantasy solutions. The god disease is a bit inspired by probability storms from ORV. Though of course, to be honest I didn't think too hard about it, the point was really that despite everything Cale had done to acquire his slacker life, or even because of everything he's done, he's not getting it now.

Okay, that aside, I made Cale knit. Why? Mostly because I thought it'd be cute. He's a really caring guy, as we know, so I wouldn't put it past him to want to keep the kids warm. As for why he'd decide to knit by hand, it's mostly because he had experience with needlework back when he was Kim Roksoo so that he could fix up his ripped clothes when he couldn't afford to buy new ones, so it's something familiar to him. Also, working on the little hats and mitts takes his mind off the recent revelation and makes him thinks of his kids instead- He was actually pretty stressed out by the whole two months left thing, so doing a little needlework, something familiar that he's used to that keeps him busy, and thinking about his loved ones and mundane things like what kinds of colors they'd like or are suited to or what the size of their head might be calmed him down. (Also a little soos fluff tidbit because i love them and they haunt the narrative)

Also, the last line, "Cale could only wonder", whoever caught that as an Epic reference, you are so right lol I was listening to "I Can't Help But Wonder" the whole time I was writing and then also crying my eyes out and the line kinda slipped in.

Overall, I think the first chapter was pretty okay, sets things up and lets me get carried away with Cale and the kids angst. If I remember anything else, I'll edit later and add on to it :)

First impression

i could not take riko seriously at all for the entirety of the original series. i had him mentally categorized as "tropey super-evil villain mwuahaha" from book one. i was rolling my eyes at riko in trk thinking, "of course you also enjoy torturing people for fun." that's just the sort of characteristic people give to their villains they want the reader to know is definitely super-evil. like, no "good guy" in fiction ever has the "torture people" hobby. at worst, i thought of riko as lazy writing of an antagonist, and at best, i thought he was written to be a cliche intentionally because he really wasn't meant to be the focus of neil and andrew's story.

Impression now

long-time followers of mine will have witnessed first-hand my descent into liking riko. it's kevin's fault. it really is. i was intrigued by kevin after tkm and i really wanted to know what makes him tick. and somewhere along the way, i got around to thinking about kevin's relationship with riko which led me to thinking more about what kind of person riko is. and. well. here we are. now i can appreciate riko as a character and not just as a narrative device. although in tgr i was starting to miss riko as a narrative device because jeremy's family/hook-ups all suck so much and aren't doing enough to advance the plot.

i have blorbos that i like to put on a shelf and just admire them as they are and then there are blorbos i like to put through the industrial blender of suffering. riko goes right into the blender :)

Favorite moment

gotta go with the infamous scene during neil's Christmas Torture Holiday at Evermore. because what the fuck. what even was that. you can always rely on riko to do something unhinged that raises the stakes. neil and riko are both really good at unhinged stake-raising actions. the two of them combined? unparalleled.

Idea for a story

every idea i have for a riko-centric story is fucked up and explicit and comes with probably many content warnings. like i know this fandom isn't big on that kind of story but... just to throw a couple ideas out there... perfect court omegaverse - omega riko, alpha everyone else, the nest has a flipped hierarchical structure. pre-canon jeremy/riko - somewhere along the way of trying to draw jeremy's attention away from kevin to make kevin jealous, riko accidentally ends up as one of jeremy's conquests. wymack/riko - brat-taming porn.

Unpopular opinion

not to get too serious but...liking riko is a morally neutral stance.

ace!riko is near and dear to my heart. i think it would make a lot of sense if riko never thought or realized he was in love with kevin because of the lack of sexual attraction. riko being like, i don't like him, i just want to kill him and wear him like a warm coat - which could mean anything. i think it'd be funny.

One Piece chapter 1145 review

Oh, I'm surprised the anime colour spread gets to be included in the official release as a part of the chapter. When I heard it wasn't drawn by Oda and the chapter had a normal cover anyway, I figured it was just colour pages for the magazine. Wonder if it'll keep its place in the volume, or get moved out of the way to the back like the enormous WT100 spread did. Oda may not have illustrated this, but I can see him doing something in this ballpark, and having the clock showing the new Japanese timeslot is fun.

I've been manga-only for a long, long time, but I'm keen to see what the anime can do with some time off and a switch to a more seasonal format. The first episode off the block still only covered a single chapter, which doesn't fill me with confidence, but maybe they planned that one out before the break. I'm willing to give them a couple more to see if anything changes.

The hunting scene makes an interesting opener - kind of a non-sequitur considering all the action building elsewhere on the island. I guess if this is the start of a new volume it could work as kind of a cold open to the book before getting back into the meat of things. Either way, it's neat to see Zoro and Sanji working together. And I suppose they'd have to - the Groggysaurus is freaking big. Look at it tower over Goldberg in the opening panel. I wish there'd been at least one shot where it gets properly sized up against a normal human to show what a beast it is. Unfortunately, the perspective on the final shot of Zoro slicing it makes him look way bigger in proportion to it.

And there's some lore here with Goldberg's homie shield, Nash. This thing was first shown off in chapter 899, just as Whole Cake Island was wrapping up, in Hadjrudin's segment of the Grand Fleet cover story, which was perhaps suspiciously just a series of character intros rather than a mini story like the rest. How far in advance has this been planned? I'm definitely curious to hear any details about a fight between the giants and Big Mom after she left Elbaph and acquired her powers. Does it have to do with the marriage arrangement with Loki that fell through, or did some giants at some point come to settle things over her childhood rampage? Feel like I'm forgetting whether or not this was hinted at anywhere else. It'd be cool for it to end up being plot relevant, but my gut is saying SBS summary.

I love Luffy's inept attempts to nurse Loki in the following scene, and Gerd egging him on is a great punchline. But, of course, the big thing here is Loki's connection to Rocks in an obviously twisted, abusive version of the Luffy-Shanks dynamic. I'm now ten times more invested in the inevitable Loki flashback. What did he admire in Rocks and how did he try to emulate it in his mysterious falling out with Harald?

And I'm going to throw this out there more as a thought than an actual theory, but what if this has something to do with the blindfold? We know Loki was wearing it at a young age - about the age he seems to be in the flashback panel here. But his helmet conveniently obscures the whole top half of his face. There are lines that might be the bottom of the bandages peeking out, but they might just be trickles of blood. At face value (heh) it seems like Newgate is scolding Rocks for impaling Loki, but what if it went further than that? Suppose Rocks took Loki's eyes. I'd need a few more hints before I call it likely, but it would definitely make for compelling drama.

Cool moment for Jinbei here, even if it hasn't been that long since he saved everyone from a fire the same way on Onigashima. The real surprise is the ticking clock of Elbaph burning being silenced so soon. If not that, then what?

We also get some more chatter about hiding your voice from CoO from Gaban. I'd love to learn more about this.

Gunko's arrival of Collun's svar promises a good confrontation for next chapter. Definitely curious to see how a Holy Knight stacks up against a pretty decent spectrum of low to high level Strawhat combat threats. I'm not into powerscaling and want to distance myself from most of the kinds of talks that come up if you search 'powerscaling' (which is a whole rant of its own for another place and time), but yeah, I want to see how strong these guys really are. The hype is big, but savaging wild animals and a chained man doesn't tell us much.

Plus she doesn't seem to have noticed Brook is there yet, so that'll surely be fun.

Finally, while we're on this, that's such an Oda set of panels, when she appears (embedded above). It's basically three shots overlapping each other, all showing the same moment from different angles and at different levels of closeup. The top one bisects the bottom one but doesn't look out of place because even though the element going across the top breaks the line of sight between the crew and the thing they're reacting to, it's actually that same thing. You just don't see other manga artists doing them like this.

I think the next chapter will ultimately be a loss for the weaker Strawhats, even with Jinbei present. Something to get Collun in position to be a damsel for the adults and a hero in his own right to the weaker kids. Maybe this results in the Strawhats being ejected from the svar and dropped to the Underworld to meet up with Luffy's group and pull them into the situation. I can only hope it's educational about how the rest of the arc and the final confrontations with the Holy Knights will play out.

'plagiarism' issue

Not one for drama, yet I want to bring attention to this. I won’t elaborate on this issue more.

So it happened.

A while ago but it remains slowly nipping at my brain. For that case, I have decided to write it all down and collect my thoughts using this post.

My work like real people do (and the whole thought/idea behind it) has been taken, rewritten, tweaked and published as someone else's idea (that they apparently had since spring). I asked them to take it down privately. They did add my @ and for some time, I was content until they started creating the whole "universe" around it and taking praise for it even tho it's not their original idea.

The dark side of fanfiction is that there is not much I can do but at least I can make awareness about the issue.

Starting this with some definitions and clearance:

plagiarism: "Presenting work or ideas from another source as your own...by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgment.[1]"

What if they give credit?

"It is still plagiarism even if you give credit. Even when someone uses an artist's base or picture they are expected to change it up to become something new, rather than just running it through a filter, or tweaking it with a few minor edits. There is a major difference between copying another person's storyline and making edits and actually writing a story.[2]"

Now to the point:

For LRPD, I have created a very specific premise that I haven't read/seen before:

Leon is a single dad of a young girl (didn't specify age but definitely a preteen, around fourth grade).

He is absent from his daughter's life, especially from her school activities. He becomes this "enigma" for the teachers.

The daughter doesn't have a mother. 

Teacher!reader is concerned for the daughter's wellbeing so one day, when Leon picks her up, she requires to have a talk with him.

During the talk, he offers her a dinner instead of having to participate in school activities.

Teacher!reader and Leon sleep together during the first off-school meeting. 

Teacher!reader wakes up before Leon and looks at his exposed [muscular] back.

Teacher!reader searches for the bathroom, notices Leon’s poorly decorated apartment except for his daughter’s stuff. 

Teacher!reader is reffered to as "Miss teacher" in this universe.

They copied almost THE WHOLE premise. It'd be okay to write your own version of single dad Leon and his kid's teacher - I don't own the trope - but following the SAME ORIGINAL STORYLINE is not okay [with me]...

The parts after "Keep reading" consists of photo 'evidence' of the similarities (some are less obvious but I'll mention them regardless). It is LONG because I have a lot to say.

They were smart by rewritting it in their own words but it still lays heavy on my chest that a story I have crafted for WEEKS has been taken from me like that. It's more glaring if you read both stories instead of me splitting it into excerpts (and I didn't insert all of them as there is a limit to pictures per post).

Taking inspiration or straight-up rewritting someone's detailed idea is a difference.

Tsukutabe favourite scenes - Episode 1

This post is inspired by @littleragondin who had done a series of posts of their fave scenes from Tsukutabe (She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat)!

I thought it'd be fun to do the same except I'm probably unable to choose just one from each episode… So I will rank my top 1-3 scenes! (And of course, thank you so much to @furritsubs for translating and subbing this show - Your efforts have brought me so much joy!).

#2: Nomoto having her love for cooking framed as something she should be doing for a man (or child)

Nomoto receives a comment tying her worth to her capacity to provide for a man or child. From Nomoto's reaction, it must be an all-too-common occurrence for her. 

The music here is pensive and troubling, and her face expressionless - a stark contrast to the opening scene where the sound is lively and fun, and she's bright and joyful.  Both times, she's doing something she loves, and you can see she's so caught up in cooking the frustration away here that she doesn't even realise she's made too much minced pork. She loves cooking, and right now, she's not enjoying it.

This is also the first time the show touches upon society's harsh expectations on women, paving way for the later reveal of Kasuga's painful and stifling childhood. 

As an aside, I appreciate that Sayama did not play along with their manager's comments to Nomoto. However, it's interesting that she didn't say anything to counter him either. By staying silent or ignoring it, she's complicit in perpetuating their manager's gendered views. Makes sense - they're in the workplace, their (male) manager is their superior, and such views on women can be the norm. Whether Sayama (or Nomoto) speak up or not, it's a lose/lose.

#1: Nomoto's face journey as she watches Kasuga eat (for the first time)

Here, we can see Nomoto's growing discomfort with Kasuga's silence. She's used to people openly and loudly applauding her food (both online and in-person) - and used to people twisting her love for cooking into what it's not. 

Yet Kasuga wordlessly eats. And eats. And eats. And Nomoto remembers the reason she cooks in the first place. Nomoto is stunned, and overwhelmed, and holding back happy tears. I love the journey Nomoto's face takes as she makes this realisation. It's as if watching Kasuga eat this first time has mended her heart from the pain of earlier (scene #2 above). 

In the end, Kasuga simply appreciates Nomoto's meal and thanks her. And that's all Nomoto needs.

I'm here on the behalf of the "send me a character" ask game and I'm going to cheat by asking for two characters: Hua Cheng and mtp Sherlock Holmes (bc tgcf and mtp are both special interests of mine and I'm always excited remembering you post about both of them)

Sherlock Holmes (Moriarty the Patriot)

My first impression: tbh he definitely grew on my gradually, I seem to remember watching the anime the first time and every time the focus was on him being like BACK TO WILLIAM BACK TO WILLIAM.

My impression now: I am so fond of him. I think he is sincerely such a lovely adaptation of Conan Doyle's character. He's lively and silly and moody and awkward and smart and caring and I just really like him.

Favorite thing about that character: I feel like he's very...steadfast. He sets his mind to something and just goes for it, stubbornly. Sometimes unhealthily. But I admire it.

Least favorite thing: I do still get a little bored anytime the story is just on him without William. I love him best when he's with his hubby.

Favorite line/scene: obvious pick but THAT whole interaction on the train is one of my favourite scenes in the whole series. "I was just thinking it'd be fun if you were that clever mastermind"????? [parapharasing again] Sherlock that is crazy people talk, what are you on about you kinky weirdo. But also the bridge scene is right up there. And the rooftop.

Favorite interaction that character has with another: extremely hard to pick between Sherliam moments but I think I'm gonna land on the entirety of chapter 67.

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: Hmm. Bond, maybe. I want to see them get really chummy in part two.

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: Sherlock Holmes from the original ACD stories. 🤣 (Again, I'll edit if/when I think of a better answer)

A headcanon about that character: He idolized Mycroft as a little kid but between a mix of teenage cringe-syndrome over hanging out with big bro and the ways he sees their worldviews as diverging, they drifted apart as he got older.

A song that reminds of that character: Sherlock-focused-Sherliam

An unpopular opinion about that character: Idk if this counts, but that he doesn't actually actively dislike women (though he is very gay and not interested in them romantically/sexually) he's just annoyed by the front proper Victorian society makes them put on. Once he actually gets to know a woman, he usually likes them.

Hua Cheng (Heaven Official's Blessing)

My first impression: I first saw a clip of the scene where he's leading Xie Lian through the bloody forest in the wedding clothes beneath the red umbrella, and I downright swooned over the romance of it all.

My impression now: basically the same. THE romantic character. Like. Literally a character who exists for the sole purpose of loving another. I'm getting sentimental in my old age, because I would have turned my nose up at that idea fifteen years ago, but now I adore it.

Favorite thing about that character: he's just so gentle and careful and thoughtful and loving? But also powerful and dangerous. Knight in shining armour hours. But then to be all of that and also be such a bratty, sometimes teasing and sometimes sulky husband is so funny I love it.

Least favorite thing: Uhhh. Hmm. I get why he's mean to...basically everybody but Xie Lian, because everyone has been cruel to Xie Lian. But in a sort of realistic sense that I don't actually bother to apply to fiction like this, I'd like to see him encourage Xie Lian to have other people in his life. It's fine if he wants to stay mad at Feng Xin and Mu Qing, but he should invite Yushi Huang for tea and encourage Xie Lian to hang out with Yin Yu and so on. It would be good for them both to have other friends. But like. That's me forcing myself to come up with an answer lmao.

Favorite line/scene: any big romantic speech, but also anytime he just absolutely embarrasses himself. "Gege, want to get married?" PFFFT. Loser (I love him.)

Favorite interaction that character has with another: I think the part where he's disguised and Xie Lian is laughing at him and he's pouting, and then "Only after having met you did I rediscover that it's such a simple thing to be happy." Just imagining what that must have done to Hua Cheng's heart makes me so happy.

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: Yushi Huang. They are covert infiltration buddies.

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: Has there ever before been this level of simp? Has anyone else romanced so hard? I'm gonna say maybe Kurogane from TRC, because ( TRC SPOILERS) while Hua Cheng is much softer and more poetic about his love, Kurogane did cut off his own arm to save his beloved, and bond his soul to a vampire who could only feed on him, and definitely seems the type to do what Hua Cheng did in the current donghua arc with refusing to let Xie Lian take blame beyond what he actually had done even when that was what Xie Lian wanted. Those all feel like Hua Cheng levels of dedication.

A headcanon about that character: just absolutely and entirely overwhelmed by actually having sex with Xie Lian the first few times. He cries. He maybe panics a little. He comes too fast. He cries some more. Xie Lian adores him.

A song that reminds of that character: I mean, A Thousand Years is more about Hua Cheng than it's ever been about anyone else ever. But also this.

An unpopular opinion about that character: apparently, in some corners, my belief that the donghua version is very very in character to the novel would be unpopular lol

Yes! There are so many things to consider when you see the scene from his perspective. The tweels have mentioned their parents teaching them self defence and their mother calling them often, so they obviously care about their sons a lot; but stories about the tweels’ childhood mostly involve doing something without supervision, so they aren’t overprotective. As for how much money they give their sons, Floyd buys expensive clothes but he has to earn money himself to buy really expensive stuff (his reason for doing the Culinary Crucible). Lots to infer about their parenting style 👀

Also, Floyd making fun of him would be so on brand sibling behaviour. Like oooh, some human girl stole your stuff? You gonna go cry to Mama and Pops now? You gonna throw a tantrum like an itty bitty elver?? Jade would try to strangle him.

I totally get needing mental preparation for angst! Here’s a spoiler alert (about Jade and (Y/N)):

Jade doesn’t fall in love with her. But it would be so juicy in an alternate reality where he does! Reader’s relieved that things are going according to the plot. But really, he shouldn’t have to spend time with (Y/N) outside of the events of the story. What if something he says or does messes up the story later? No, you aren’t jealous. You’re being pragmatic. It’s important to be thorough when lives are at stake, you know. So you need Jade to come back as soon as the story’s plot indicates the end of a scene. He’ll have all the time in the world to spend with her after the story ends.

Reader would be so deep in denial in this situation lol we’re rooting for them!!

1. Prompt - what if Kukulaka got broken and Garak repaired him?

2. Unexpected Chapter 2 of Imprisoned. Absolute Sloanshir rot: Sloan provides Julian with more "help", Julian gets increasingly confused/grateful/flustered/fucked

Coming soon? Almost 100% you're gonna see it next week - I am hype and should should should get to the end once I have an evening to myself ;)

3. Prompt - "I don't trust myself to be good to myself right now, but I need someone to be good to me." Conversations between Miles and Julian at various points in the series when they've hit rock bottom and need pulling out.

Coming soon? No... I've written one post-DBIP scene but I'd at least want the post-Argrathi scene and the rest of the DBIP stuff to be done before I put anything up, if not the whole thing... It's definitely a long fic I'll be returning to in fits and bursts. (sorry, prompter...)

4. Prompt - Garak and Julian's first conversation post-IPS/BIL.

5. Pre-DBIP: a few moments where Julian's unspoken issues with his parents cause friction for him but go unnoticed by his friends. Post-DBIP a similar moment happens and is recognised for what it is. Featuring Julian + beets.

6. Julian starts to neglect his self-care, leading to him passing out in the infirmary. Sisko would like to know what the hell happened.

9. "Acts of God": A runabout crashes on a planet where medical intervention is outlawed. Unable to help his injured friends and forbidden from alleviating the suffering he sees around him, Julian has a very bad time...

10. "Sloan's planet": Sloan is Julian's s31 handler, sending him out on all sorts of missions... but the missions are fake, Sloan using the holosuite to manipulate Julian pretty much any way he wants...

Coming soon? Possibly. This has more of a series vibe maybe with a few distinct one-shots, so if I get a short idea I might bash it out 🤷‍♀️ Sloanshir's often just so easy to fall into.. 🤣

11. Keiko + Molly + Julian + drawing post-DBIP. Julian's not very good at it, and it's a bit feels but a lot of fluff.

If you had to create your own bl novel and series what would the plot be, which actors would you hire for each role, and what company would you want to make it?

The degree to which I love this question cannot be overstated!

So like, there is one that I'm actually planning to write and maybe/hopefully post for you guys as a halloween thing (I'm not making promises because I genuinely cannot fathom where my brain will be as I finally get on anti-anxiety/depression meds HOPEFULLY next week).

So there is a 2nd one I've been writing scenes of as well that I think would end up being fun, it'd be a hybrid GL/BL show. I'm using placeholder names right now, not the final names characters will have, so just kind of keep that in mind. This is my version of like "Person 1".

And it draws a lot from real life stuff that has happened to people close to me (but not direct enough that you'd point and go "HEYYYY"). I've also, unfortunately, had a lot of friends, family friends, relatives of the previous who are going through cancer treatment. It's always overwhelming how much you DON'T know. But not all of that 'unknown' is bad, there are good things you just don't hear about, there's hope, always, and so I wanted to have a cancer storyline in it that can encourage people and maybe give them some hope, so there's that as well.

--- I put a summary below the cut. IDK if it sounds like something worth watching or not, but... IDK, I feel like writing it ---

As for casting, I was thinking about it as I wrote the summary and I think... MaxNat for HanTarnan. When I write Addie, I picture Becky Armstrong, so Freen Sarocha would be a good Ryn, but honeslty I picture Ciize Rutricha when I write.

And company, I don't know companies well enough. Whoever would do it well.

Addie and Han were high school sweethearts. Han was a foreign exchange student who met Addie in year 11, and they stayed together through University. They married, and started a life together.

Things started becoming... distant. Bit by bit, piece by piece, they kind of slid out of each other's lives, while still existing under the same roof.

And then Addie comes home one day after receiving devastating news from the doctor, she has cancer... And Han is gone.

Addie's psyche breaks. She goes through the motions, goes through treatment alone, lives through difficult nights and overwhelming days alone, refusing to accept any help or admit to anyone that Han has left her.

During this time, she meets a fellow patient. An older lady who recently emigrated to the States and is surprised to find someone who speaks her language (I'm probably setting this in Korea bc that's what I know, but IDK, the Thai BL fandom has been really nice so I'm open to whatever).

This lady realizes Addie is doing this alone, and decides ONLY her VERY SINGLE daughter should be bringing her to treatment. Ryn is around Addie's age, beautiful, fun, and she has this knack for bringing Addie back around.

And, over the months of treatment and the years that follow, Addie and Ryn fall in love. Ryn is a lesbian, but Addie has never thought of herself as anything but straight before. But she finally stops fighting it, and just loves Ryn.

Kind of.

For Addie, the marriage vows are not something she takes lightly by any means. But Han is gone. She has no way to find him, his co-workers don't know where he went. The pandemic hit while he was on a leave of absence, and then his work was being done remote for a year or so before he quit. He never touched their joint account, and his friend will literally only tell Addie that Han wants the money to be hers. Nothing else.

Addie cannot be with Ryn without first divorcing Han, and she can't get past the block in her mind the vows created. She can't just have him declared an absent husband and divorce him. She NEEDS him to agree to end this marriage.

For three years, Addie searches for Han with increased desperation. At first, Ryn is understanding and supportive, but her patience starts to ware thin. She becomes distant too, and Addie is terrified. Ryn gets into a fight with her and storms out, refusing to come back or talk to Addie for several days.

And then, one day, after three years of looking for Han, five since he left, Addie gets a message from an unknown sender. A picture of the sign for a resort in (Korea or Thailand)... and Han is in the photograph.

Addie immediately goes there, booking a room under a fake name.

For five years, Addie has lived in agony after Han vanished.

Han, meanwhile, has met Tarnan.

When the marriage was dying and Addie's health took a turn, Han was convinced she was pregnant. He suddenly realized he didn't want to be in the marriage. It wasn't really love, he tried to convince himself it was, but he was just scared to admit he felt nothing for Addie beyond friendship.

So, like a coward, Han fled. He went back home, intending to hide in a remote resort for a couple weeks and work up his courage to go back to Addie. To psych himself up to pretend to be happy and content and at least be a good father.

But then the pandemic hit, and suddenly he was stuck at the resort.

It was a small resort, run by Tarnan, his mother, and his twin sister Dee (Dee is a trans woman and her and her husband are the C-couple who are just in a healthy relationship watching the two disaster couples try to function)

Han kept working, making sure there was money (and insurance coverage) for Addie and the baby, until his friend back home (who will sit at a cafe across the street or happen to wander by the gallery Addie works in) confirms Addie isn't pregnant. During this time, he also falls in love with Tarnan.

Tarnan is what was missing from Han's life. The hole in his heart that he could never fill. It is something he never felt with his wife, a love soul-deep and painfully wonderful.

Tarnan doesn't know that Han abandoned his wife. That Han sees himself as a coward. He thinks Han is wonderful and kind, always willing to help. When Han learns Addie isn't pregnant, he finally quits his remote job to stay with Tarnan.

They marry in a local ceremony, but there is always some excuse as to why Han won't marry Tarnan officially. He wants to save more money for a proper wedding, that one is the usual answer. Tarnan's sister and brother-in-law are skeptical, but Tarnan is happy, so they don't push.

And then, five years after Han first appeared, a woman checks in to the resort. When she sees Han heading out to take care of something, she collapses in the lobby. Tarnan has her taken immediately to the local clinic, and Han (who gets a call from Tarnan) goes to save a copy of the security footage showing the collapse in case they need it for legal reasons.

And he recognizes Addie.

The doctor at the clinic (which is more of a small hospital) wants to run some tests to make sure Addie is alright and this isn't because of some lingering cancer medication she's on. But she refuses, and barring that, he can't let her go without a guardian's permission.

Han waits until Tarnan has returned to the resort and then enters the hospital, identifying himself as her husband.

The show would open with the collapse in the lobby, and then back-fill Addie's story up to that point throughout the show with flashbacks bit by bit. Addie NEEDS Han to sign the divorce papers, which he quickly does, feeling guilty for being a coward (that's not me passing judgment, he feels like a coward).

But when the papers are signed, she doesn't know what to do. She's lost Ryn. There's nothing for her to return to. Addie was frantic, and while fighting with Han, she snapped at Tarnan, so she tries to apologize to him.

Han, for his part, desperately tries to stop Tarnan from finding out Addie is his ex-wife and not just someone he knew in college. He also becomes utterly fixated on finding out who the fuck tracked down Addie and outed him. Who was trying to sabotage his relationship.

Amongst all of this, Ryn appears at the resort. She fought with Addie, left for a couple days, and really tried to understand Addie's perspective, why she wouldn't just end the marriage on abandonment grounds and get on with her life.

And she decided that she didn't understand, but she also loved Addie too much to give up. She can't understand, so she won't try. She'll just do what she can.

Addie, btw, really took those vows very seriously, and she and Ryn haven't even kissed yet. It made Addie feel like she was cheating, even if it was on a husband she didn't love (Addie's got some issues).

With the divorce papers signed (and faxed back to her lawyer), Addie and Ryn can FINALLY be together. They don't really leave the room for a few days.

Eventually, Tarnan finds out the truth about Han, and he is enraged. Han has to prove to Tarnan that he has grown, that he cherishes Tarnan, and that he won't abandon him. That he is willing to man up and stop being a coward.

His endless fight to find out who is to blame for outing him- Han finally admits that... The person, whoever they were, wasn't to blame. It was his own fault for lying to Tarnan and not ending things cleanly with Addie years ago.

Addie helps Tarnan and Han get together. She gives her wedding ring back to Han, saying it should be destroyed rather than pawned, because the ring represents too much pain between them. For her, the pain of being abandoned, for Han, the pain of trying to live under an identity that wasn't his (in the sense of him pretending to be straight during their marriage because he felt like he had to be).

Han has their wedding rings melted down, but has it formed into a charm with Addie and Ryn's initials. Turning the broken promise from a failed marriage into a blessing for her new one. Addie and Ryn marry at the resort, and not long after, Tarnan and Han also marry.

Addie and Han will always be close friends, but they are both finally able to put aside the past and fully be with the people they each love.

And it would end with one final flashback. To a stormy night where the resort flooded a bit (which you do hear about throughout the story, just a little inconvenience they had a few months ago). Throughout the show, you saw the debris in Tarnan and Han's room, and a board shifted, exposing a space where Han had hidden his real passport (he had a fake name on his registration so Addie couldn't find him).

In the final flashback, you see someone pick it up, read the name, and later slip into the hotel lobby to use the computer to look it up, finding an old facebook group where Addie and Han had shared their wedding photos with guests. The person using the computer clicks to a picture of Addie and Han kissing in their wedding attire, and after a long time, clicks her profile, and hovers over the "message" tab.

And then the shot would reverse and you'd see that the one who reached out to Addie and revealed Han's secret...

Was Tarnan.

i decided to be insane while i wait for the Methylphenidate pill to hit (i was thought to have adhd and still have some leftovers from trying to treat that) so i can study. so i made a list of what i think are kins? i refuse to look up what that actually means so im going by the context that a thousand years of reading tumblr posts on pintrest gave me.

Okay! so:

Kinger is a new one, he seems like such a funny silly guy who is kind of out of it, something i absolutely get! so he goes there.

Izzy Hands has been a cause of insanity for me since season one, but season two got me worse. what a funny fellow. i get the whole being a tryhard thing, and sort of losing it a bit over having to change your ways. havent had to eat own my toes, lost a leg or done drag while singing in french, so those things i just find amusing.

Peter B. Parker! what a funny guy, i didnt expect him to actually come back on the second spiderverse movie. being a cool mentor is something admirable i think, and the scene with aunt may made me spend way too many hours on ao3 as i thought that could have been more of a thing (in my head the movie would have done well as a series, more time to explore the really cool characters they had). Also: him being a version of spiderman ''were things didnt go well'' that doesnt go in a morbid direction is very baller.

Doctor Twobrains i only know of from fandom osmosis. i did watch the series as a kid, but i really cant remember shit. the rat brain is funny, and i love anything involving inventors with a theme (i had to fight myself a few too many times to not include doofenshmirtz). the manerisms and vibe are very silly, the excentricities vibe with me.

Agent Stone was the only reason i watched the sonic movie. i saw a trailer and thought, huh i dont think i remember ever seeing this fellow on anything sonic. turns out, he was a new character and very, very funny. what a guy! i can imagine going that far being a henchman. i, however, do have a deep hatred against the guy that does robotnick, so i havent seen much else other than the first film (that i very much pirated).

Pyro is such a mistery. they just burn things and act jolly, the whole pyroland thing is also so stupid. i mained him when i played tf2, but for now i just save fanart of her burning shit and think about how cool it'd be to have a full body suit, be unintelligible and get to burn stuff. absolute 10/10.

Hazel from The Umbrella Academy was fun while he lasted. The idea of being a time traveling mercenary and still getting shitty hotel rooms is hilarious to me. made me really want to get suspenders, but i dont think that'll happen.

Scar (from Hermitcraft) is such a chaotically silly guy. i wish i could pull that off. going from scam, to huge incredible creations, to changing allies on a dime, to playing games by any other rules than the ones stabilished? i wish i could do that! btw the fanart is by reddit user dead_cricket_ (i didnt want to use a minecraft skin but wanted to make sure that I AM TALKING ABOUT THE FANON CHARACTER NOT THE REAL DUDE THAT MAKES VIDEOS)

Elliot Gussman from The Umbrella Academy was also fun while he lasted. i also have some really, really weird paranoia problems and would act the same if i had alien strangers in my house. there isnt a lot of fandom stuff on him, as he's such a minor character, so i just juggle a few too many head canons on this silly guy.

Aziraphale. hehe. haha. im absolutely normal about this guy. being an angel and having the ideology of heaven hammered into your head, and complying with things you know you shouldnt because you know the consequences and that theres someone all-seeing always watching you? i get that 100%. Two other things: the constant forced smiles that are clearly unnatural and doing silly things you know you arent good at are also relatable.

i really like Abner Krill. this is so long already, but i just, really like him. i wish he didnt get killed, that movie is my favourite and i wish it could get a sequel. i'll be short on the whole thing by saying that being the weirdest one on a bunch of batman villans is very funny, and his powers are very fucked up in a cool way.

Oswald Cobblepot was the only reason i saw Gothan. him going from just a guy to.. The Penguin?? absolutely crazy. i really got the whole bit where he was getting higher on the crime scene by biting small bits and getting big results.

I could write 20.000 words on each of these, but this formatting is ass and i think the Methylphenidate is working (it's been a bit more than 40 minutes between writing and looking up images that werent so bad), so i should go study/work. if anyone wants me to go insane again, dont worry! i absolutelly will. i made an account here for a reason.

7. Neither, actually! Raised Mormon, never had coffee, only tried tea once in adulthood last year. Some things I said due to the caffeine, and I quote thanks to the magic of backlog: "I can feel my heart in my ears." "I can feel my eyes move in my skull." "I can feel my thoughts on my skin." So my body is comically unequipped for the stuff. |"D When I have my weekly THC gummy, though, it often seriously helps with the writers block, so I guess that's my answer?

10. Oof, that's a good one. There are several ships I sail that I haven't written for - Badgermao, Krazyshipping, Wildehopps, Maebea, and some others I'm forgetting I'm sure - but I feel like my writing style would fit and muse would latch onto Roquill the best if I just had a story idea I could really get behind. Rocket Raccoon and Peter Quill have some really fun dynamics going between them, and Rocket's a sterling member of my Menagerie of Sad Bastards, so I feel like I could do a lot with them. Honestly I also feel really bad I missed the boat on the GotG fandom, I'm only really getting into them now years after the last movie came out...

17. Well, last month I finished the first chapter for anything since my spouse had that brain hemorrhage this time last year! :D It was for The Roads We Walked Remain, though, so, only my beautiful beta readers have gotten to see it so far. Still, the next two chapters of All We Might Have Been are almost done, so I'm happy about that!

24. Ooo, well... it was a combination of a few things coalescing! When I wrote Just Make Me One Promise, shipping Nezu with All Might was a joke I teased one of my beautiful beta readers with, 'cause she's totally into the idea in the lewd way. Theeen I kept thinking about it and realized that the two of them being an ace couple would reinforce the themes of the entire series perfectly. Then a bit later it hit me how much Nezu and Tomura Shigaraki have in common, how fascinating it'd be to see them as foster father and son, and I already thought Izuku Midoriya would work better as a villain protagonist than a hero (and the popularity of Villain Deku shows I'm far from the only one). Then all at once, the premise of All We Might Have Been clicked into place, and I've been loving bringing it to life ever since~!

32. All of them? All of them. I think all of them. Every character I care about. I want them to get their happy ending, even if it's not the happy ending they envisioned, but I want it to hurt, I want to see what they're made of when they're pushed to the point of breaking - or even the point of inverting, of becoming everything they're not. I want to see them in the depths of the despair and at the height of hope. A happy ending to a happy journey just... doesn't feel Right, instinctively and inherently. It doesn't feel real. And feeling real is a key ingredient to fiction that ignites the imagination and stokes the soul, last I knew.

Minireviews of the Bluey Minisodes

Hello everyone! Here's another one of those rare text posts from me.

As most of you may know, I'm a Bluey fan. And as all Bluey fans know, today a new batch of Bluey shorts premiered on Disney+, also known as Minisodes (or previously "Bonus Bits").

And while most fans had likely already watched these minisodes, given how they came out nearly a month before in Australia, I myself chose to wait until they were available on Disney+ to watch them, in order to save myself the hassle of looking for them online. Call me lazy if you want, but I often find it trickier than it sounds like. 😅 Especially considering how quickly those tend to get taken down.

But I digress. I was going to do this on Twitter originally, but I thought it'd be more fun and easier to express myself without a character limit here. So, since no one asked for my opinion, I'm going to give it anyways! xD

⚠️ Spoilers ahead, of course.

Here are my brief(-ish) thoughts on each of the new 7 shorts that were released.

🍔 Burger Dog

I have a soft spot for any Bluey short or episode that shows the characters dancing, particularly if they showcase new dancesteps that hadn't been shown before and that isn't flossing. I just find it really adorable and well-animated, so I enjoyed this one.

Maybe this is coming from the perspective of a non-parent, and if I ever have kids I'll have a totally different opinion, but I personally didn't find the song THAT annoying xD At least not for a first time listening to it. If it were the 15th time they'd had it on, I'd understand Bandit's position, but if it really was the first time he heard it, I would've at least let Bluey and Bingo finish the song if I were him. But again, that's just me, and it's not like what Bandit did was anything too terrible, nor am I mad at him for it. Just giving my opinion here. 😅

Oh, and the ending made me chuckle. Clever girl, Bingo. 😉😂

🤖 Bingo 3000

Not really much to say about this one, other than it was cute xD It reminded me a lot of "Daddy Robot", but with the roles reversed. Honestly, the final scene of Chili calling Bingo 3000 with her arriving super slowly because her legs are still stuck and Bandit's all "Don't get me started" was my favorite part. 😝 Overall, it was fine.

🚚 Muffin Unboxing

DEFINITELY my favorite out of this batch xD Muffin may not be my favorite character, but she is definitely the most entertaining one, and I always love seeing her show up because you just KNOW some hilarious chaos is about to ensue. 🤣

What can I say? This minisode was classic Muffin from beginning to end. Her having a toy review channel just makes too much sense and I never knew I needed it until now xD Something else I loved about this one was seeing Stripe's poor video editing skills once again, with him leaving in parts of the recording that were definitely meant to remain on the cutting floor. 😂 Very "Bumpy and the Wise Old Wolfhound," which is amongst my favorite episodes, so you know I loved seeing it.

And of course, I can't stop mentioning and appreciating Socks, my favorite, getting a cute little cameo at the end, and getting at least one line! AAAH! She's always so cute, I love Rock-Socks, you do you babygirl :'3 (And the ending was hilarious of course xD Again, classic Muffin)

I want to petition Ludo Studio to make a "Muffin's Toys" shorts series where we see Muffin parodying various types of YouTube Kids videos. Like, imagine Muffin doing challenges or a DIY? I feel like we need that. At least I do. 😜

📄 Letter

I liked this one quite a lot as well. Always love seeing tidbits of the parents' childhoods. And even though this wasn't on the same levels as "Fairytale" or "Dragon" when it comes to flashbacks or revelations, it was still pretty sweet to watch.

Little Bandit's spellings made me chuckle xD I also weirdly like how it was revealed that he used to have a bird, mostly because it reminded me of a few pet birds my grandma had when I was little. I got a bit worried that Chris was going to get sad or offended about Bandit's comment on her cooking, but glad she took it with humor. 😜

I know Bandit never really liked his artstyle, but honestly, I find it kind of charming and cute. And pretty good for a five-year-old. 😉

🍴 Hungry

Another one that was just okay for me, personally. I mean, Bandit playing like this with the girls and making them laugh is always adorable to watch. And the dad jokes were strong with this one. A lot of people are probably not going to like the gross humor, but eh, it honestly doesn't bother me.

So yeah, this was classic Bandit. I think that's all I have to say. 😅

🐷 Three Pigs

Since "Cinderella" was one of my favorites of the original batch of Bonus Bits, I had high hopes for this one. And well, I won't say that I was disappointed, because I wasn't really. I just didn't enjoy it as much as "Cinderella", mostly because this one felt a LOT more fast-paced, and I was having a hard time keeping up with Bandit's story at one point. Mmmh, is the duration of this shorter than "Cinderella"? I'll have to check it out, but I don't think it is, which makes the fact that it felt so much more fast-paced kind of interesting. 😅 Maybe he just spoke more, I guess.

It was still pretty fun. Bandit naming two pigs after the girls was cute, and sending the other one away to make things easier for himself was really funny. 😝 I wish I had his improv skills, not gonna lie. 😅 As a little side-note, I'm a bit surprised Disney didn't change or omit the "It's against my religion" line.

But yeah. Didn't like it as much as I would've liked, but still a good time.

🍃 Animals

I think this might be my second favorite out of these new shorts. Keep in mind that I was raised by a single mother, so as much as I love Bandit, I'm always going to have a soft spot for episodes that focus on Chilli hanging out with the girls in some way. 🥹

I don't know, I just found the game really cute for some reason. 🧡 It's so simple, and pretty much just an excuse to tickle Bingo in different ways, but I like how creative they got for each animal's walk. And from a character design standpoint, it made a lot of sense to make Bingo's back a "field". Like, for some reason, that made me chuckle, I don't know xD These dogs are so cubical, it felt logical, LOL.

Chilli's games have always been lot more, well, chill than Bandit's xD But I've always been a calm kid, and once again, they remind me of things my own mom and I used to play, so they resonate with me. Despite the surprising ending, this minisode was just very sweet. 😊

Final thoughts:

Even though there wasn't really anything that extraordinary about these minisodes, one must keep in mind that they're not really meant to be compared to the regular Bluey episodes, which themselves have set a pretty high standard. These are just bite-sized, mostly slice-of-life little adventures to keep us interested in these characters in-between seasons. I've always been a lover of simple slice-of-life stories when characters I love are involved, and I love these characters a great deal, so I'll always like seeing them in any capacity, especially in official productions.

I do wish we could get a few shorts of other secondary characters such as Bluey's school friends, Bingo's school friends, the neighbors, or even Rad and Frisky. But I do think more of these are coming, especially considering that some of the stills that have been released as promos (such as Chilli measuring the girls or them arriving at Nana's house and Grandpa Bob being there) didn't appear in any of these. So I have no doubt we'll be getting more minisode batches soon, and hopefully, other characters will make appearances similarly to how they did in the first Bonus Bits.

Any Bluey content is always a win for me, so I'm happy we got these. 💙
