.
! just a friendly reminder to look after yourself !
I am officially caught up in forensics and have 4 hours before my practical starts and I cannot focus for the life of me. I really need to study human anatomy but my brain cannot handle anymore information.
I thought I’d show off todays plans too

Hello! May I request a lot of latin forensic terms?
The most popular I am aware lf it's "post-mortem"!
Abet - to assist, encourage, instigate, or support with criminal intent in attempting or carrying out a crime—often used in the phrase, "aid and abet"
Actus reus - the wrongful act that makes up the physical action of a crime
Amicus curiae - one (such as a professional person or organization) that is not a party to a particular litigation but that is permitted by the court to advise it in respect to some matter of law that directly affects the case in question
Compos mentis - of sound mind, memory, and understanding
Corpus delicti - the substantial and fundamental fact necessary to prove the commission of a crime; also: the material substance (such as the body of the victim of a murder) upon which a crime has been committed
Functus officio - of no further official authority or legal effect—used especially of an officer who is no longer in office or of an instrument that has fulfilled its purpose
Habeas corpus - any of several common-law writs issued to bring a party before a court or judge; the right of a citizen to obtain a writ of habeas corpus as a protection against illegal imprisonment
Habeas corpus ad subjiciendum - a writ for inquiring into the lawfulness of the restraint of a person who is imprisoned or detained in another's custody
In flagrante delicto - in the very act of committing a misdeed; red-handed; in the midst of sexual activity
In esse - in actual existence
In loco parentis - in the place of a parent
Indicia - distinctive marks; indications
Mens rea - a culpable mental state, especially: one involving intent or knowledge and forming an element of a criminal offense
Modus operandi - a method of procedure, especially: a distinct pattern or method of operation that indicates or suggests the work of a single criminal in more than one crime
Obiter dictum - an incidental and collateral opinion that is uttered by a judge but is not binding; an incidental remark or observation
Onus probandi - burden of proof; the duty of proving a disputed assertion or charge
Prima facie - at first view; on the first appearance; legally sufficient to establish a fact or a case unless disproved
Pro se - on one's own behalf; without an attorney
Res judicata - a matter finally decided on its merits by a court having competent jurisdiction and not subject to litigation again between the same parties
Ultra vires - beyond the scope or in excess of legal power or authority
Hope this helps. Do tag me, or send me a link to your writing if it does. I would love to read your work!

It’s officially exams season. I’m starting this Wednesday with Ophtho, Toxo, Forensics, and Physiology. Then next Sunday, I’ve got ENT, Derma, and Andro, and we’ll wrap it all up with OSCEs on Tuesday and Wednesday.
I’ve been procrastinating a lot, and the lectures really piled up on me, kinda regretting it, as always :)
But I’m honestly so glad they separated the Ophtho exam from the ENT one. That would’ve been a complete rollercoaster, tbh.
Yesterday, I finished studying all the Ophtho lectures, so now I just need to revise them well and solve as many questions as I can.
A few days ago, I got my module work marks, they include the mid-module exam and the three assignments we submitted for Ophtho, ENT, and Derma. I got 48/56, which is awesome! I really thought I did awfully in the exam, but this is a hell of a mark ;)
P.S. been obsessed with matcha lately, if you couldn’t tell XD. But fr, it’s what’s been keeping me sane these days.

heyo lilly!! 🌸 I hope you like it here!! :) and I think it's rlly cool that you're into forensic psychology 😋 I've unforch never heard of it before 😭 but it sounds fascinating 🩷 if you don't mind me asking, what sparked your interest in this field? :) are you like drawn to the investigating aspects? or is it smth else entirely?? <33
( hope it wasn't offensive, I'm just curious, i swear! 😭😭🖐️)
aaa no offense taken!! what had sparked my interest in being a forensic psychologist was wanting to be a criminal profiler, but also wanting to do something that was closer to being psychology based rather than law enforcement based. i still take interest to being a criminal profiler as it was my "first love" in a sense; and i can blame criminal minds for making me interested in solving complex puzzles that take a lot of behavioral analysis & deductive reasoning to solve. so overall, yes i love solving puzzles and i also want to understand human behavior, so becoming a forensic psychologist would allow me to participate in criminal profiling, but also allows me to help in many other aspects of law that require some form of psychological assessments to be conducted.
thank u for the ask !!

### The Money Talk: How Much Do They Make?
- **Cash Money**: Expect to rake in about $60k to $120k a year. If you are very much experienced and skilled then you can expect about 150k+ a year.(obv different countries and companies may have different wages)
### Companies That Want You
- **Tech Titans**: Google, Amazon, Facebook—they all have requirement for such heroes
- **Gov Jobs**: FBI, CIA—basically every spy agency wants you.
- **Cybersecurity Firms**: CrowdStrike, McAfee—so every gateway you go you gonna have opportunities everywhere.
### What Other Forensic Investigators Are There?
- **Forensic Pathologists**: Real-life detectives who figure out how someone died. Less tech, more science.
- **DNA Analysts**: The ones matching DNA samples
- **Forensic Accountants**: Following the money to catch fraudsters and scammers
- **Toxicologists**: Poison experts, figuring out if someone’s been covertly poisoned. (Yeaa yk snow white story)
### What’s the Work Environment Like?
- **The Lab**: Imagine a room filled with more screens than your gaming setup. Gadgets galore, maybe even a Red Bull or two
- **On the Move**: Sometimes you’re out in the field, collecting evidence. Think of it like collecting rare items in a game.
- **Remote Vibes**: You could be solving cybercrimes from your bed in your PJs .
### How Long Does It Take to Become One?
- **Time Investment**: About 4 years for a bachelor’s, and then 1-2 more years for a master’s if you’re going all-in. So, 5-6 years total. But hey, good things take time, right?
### What Do You Study?
- **Cybersecurity/Computer Science**: Your main jams. Think of them as the ultimate cheat codes for this career.
- **Digital Forensics**: Specialized courses where you learn to be a digital ninja.
- **Law and Ethics**: Learning how to catch the bad guys without breaking the law yourself. (You yourself don't want to be troubled obviously)
### Subjects You Need to Get Into It
- **Math**: Yep, but not the boring kind—more like coding and algorithms.
- **Computer Science**: Your go-to for everything techy.
- **Optional Nerd Points**: Chemistry/Physics if you’re into hardware forensics or just want to flex those brain muscles.
### Work Hours: What to Expect?
- **9 to 5-ish**: Standard hours if you’re working for a company, but expect some late nights or weekend shifts when big cases pop up.
- **On-Call Madness**: Sometimes you’re on-call like a digital firefighter. Cyber-attack at 3 AM? Time to suit up (or log in) and handle it.
- **Flexible/Remote**: If you’re lucky, you can work from home. Just remember, no solving crimes in your underwear during Zoom meetings!
### Interview with a Cyber Forensic Investigator
**Interviewer**: What’s a day in the life of a cyber forensic investigator?
**Cyber Sleuth**: Imagine rolling out of bed, grabbing your coffee, and diving into cases. I’m talking analyzing hard drives, sifting through emails, or tracking down cyberattack origins. Some days it’s all data, other days I’m working with law enforcement or testifying in court. Never a dull moment!
**Interviewer**: What’s the coolest case you’ve worked on?
**Cyber Sleuth**: Helping bust a phishing ring that was scamming millions. Tracked their digital footprints, caught the culprits, and recovered their loot. Felt like a total legend.
**Interviewer**: Ever seen some dark stuff, like murders?
*Cyber Sleuth**: Yeah, I’ve stumbled across some pretty grim stuff. It’s not all memes and malware—sometimes it’s serious business. But catching those bad guys makes it all worth it.
**Interviewer**: Have you ever been on the dark web?
**Cyber Sleuth**: Oh, for sure. It’s like the sketchy underbelly of the internet. Lots of shady deals. I go there when I need to, but it’s not a fun hangout spot.
**Interviewer**: How dark can a case get?
**Cyber Sleuth**: It can get really intense. I’ve worked on cases involving human trafficking and other serious crimes. It’s tough, but making a difference makes it worth it.
**Interviewer**: Any advice for someone who wants to get into this field?
**Cyber Sleuth**: Stay curious and keep learning. Tech evolves fast, so you’ve gotta keep up. And don’t be afraid to dig deep—sometimes the answers are buried in tons of data, but finding them is like hitting gold.

So if you’re into tech and have subjects like mathematics , chemistry and physics then you are all set to start your journey.i have seen ppl running for a common a job and all and they are not even specified about what they want. So just research and find out what you want.

life and semester updates !!!
i got a job as a laboratory technician in my universities archaeology center. i mostly process/inventory/catalogue artifacts from the grad students field schools or other faculty projects. the photos above are bones/teeth mostly belonging to cattle :)
ive also added a minor in biology! my main interests at the moment are continuing with lab work and diving deeper into bio anthro/archae. specifically looking for grad school programs in forensic anthro/bio arch/osteology etc. (i wanna learn about bones basically) and i feel this will help me hit pre-reqs and will align my degree better with my goals. im very excited.
i also am looking into CLEP exams to skip some of my gen eds and use my last year-year and a half to ONLY take my anthro and bio courses.
and and! i got accepted back into 고려대학교 (korea university) for the summer!!! officially going back to seoul for the summer and could not be happier.
ill be honest im struggling a lot lately, i quit one of my 3 jobs for the sake of my mental health and to focus more on my studies but now am at a loss financially. trying to lock in so hard but i have a lot to look forward to so im trying to hold onto that.
