Merlin explaining to the knights what happened to him looking all disheveled and like he came out of a fight against dragons.
Merlin: I got to the room and Arthur was sitting on the bed with a scowl on his face…
Gwaine *laughs*: Uh-oh, did you mess up?
Merlin: Well, I hadn’t at the time, but I did later. Anyway, I saw he was angry and got worried, so I asked, “Did something happen?” I thought he would answer, but he just looked at me and said, “Nothing!😡”.
Merlin imitates the prince’s accent and the knights laugh at his imitation, he was very good at mimicking Arthur’s voice.
Merlin: That “Nothing” from Arthur seems to have a direct connection to the devil! When Arthur said “NOTHING!” it was almost like Morgana knew things were going to go wrong and came out from behind the curtain to cause more trouble! I could almost hear her saying, “Go, go, go, fight, fight!”.
Lancelot *drinks his beer*: Jesus, but what happened after all? Why was he so angry?
Merlin: So, that’s what I was trying to find out! So I asked and he replied, “If you did something, then you should know 😡”. So I told the truth, right, that I had no idea what I did. He looked at me and said, “Who is Freya?”.
Leon and Elyan took a deep breath understanding where the story was going, Gwaine and Percival choked on their beer and Lancelot bit his lip to keep from laughing at his friend’s misfortune.
Merlin: Yes, I know, it sounds funny, and it could have turned into a funny situation, but I got so nervous talking about my ex that the best answer I could come up with at the moment was “Which Freya?”
All the knights lost their smiles and were now just looking at Merlin in disbelief.
Elyan: That was so stupid to say, even for you!
Merlin: I know!
Leon: Merlin, if you knew Arthur was jealous, why did you say something so dumb!?
Merlin: I got nervous! But the worst part wasn’t even that, the worst part was that after I said that, I saw Morgana go “Ihhhh 😰” and run away! She left! She left me alone with angry Arthur! That coward! 😡
Gwaine fell to the floor laughing, Leon seemed to suffer from headaches due to the couple’s antics, Elyan just got up and left to laugh and maybe tell Gwen what Merlin said, Percival was just laughing shamelessly while drinking, and Lancelot was on the verge of a stroke while holding back his laughter. Merlin sometimes hated his friends, those idiots.

to find you again
Arthur Pendragon was ten years old when his world finally began to make sense.
It was in his fifth grade, when his class went on a week long camping trip. He didn't know, at the time, what compelled him to sneak out of the tent in the wee hours of the morning, when the first rays of dawn lit up the treetops and his legs carried him towards the shore of a lake. It's surface was shimmering in morning light, and he could feel his breath halt, afraid to disturb the serenity of the sight that felt so otherworldly. It may have been some divine compulsion or simply his innate, childish desire to explore that made him go further, then, until his rubber flipflops were left on the shore and his bare feet touched the water.
There was a hand then, that rose out of the water, translucent and not entirely present, an image out of mist. There was a hand, and then another, and then the head and the body — a figure arose from the lake, smiling at the little boy that intruded her realm.
"Hello, Arthur." She spoke, and her voice didn't carry through the air like a human's would, rather, it sang with the wind, hit the ears like tiny drops meeting the water. "It's good to meet you at last."
He stared at her, for a long moment, before answering.
"How do you know me?" He frowned at her. Father told him not to talk to strangers, and this might have been a very pretty woman made out of mist, but she was still very much a stranger. Still, he didn't step out of the lake, for his curiosity was much greater than his father's teachings which felt so far away at the moment, and there was no one around to see anyway.
"The world speaks to me. I can't leave this lake, but I can see far beyond it." Her answer was not an answer at all, Arthur thought. His confusion must've been evident, because she smiled at him again, and there was a mischievous hint in the corner of her lips that made her look not so much like a spirit in a lake but a living and breathing young girl, but the next second it was gone and Arthur was left to wonder if he imagined it entirely.
"Why can't you?" He asked.
"It's were I was put to rest." She spoke the words so evenly, as all of the things she previously said, that it took Arthur a few seconds to catch the meaning of it.
"Does that mean you're dead?" He asked, hoping not to offend her with it.
"Not exactly. I'm here, aren't I?" Once again, her answer gave more questions than it answered.
"There are ghosts." He said. Arthur wasn't sure there were, actually. His father didn't believe in such things.
"I am different from ghosts."
"What are you then?"
"A guardian."
Arthur nodded, as if it made perfect sense. It didn't.
"Do you have a name?" He asked. It was only polite to ask for a person's name when first meeting them. Than again, lake-guardian-spirits could have entirely different etiquette.
"I was called Freya, once." There was a small smile, again.
Arthur nodded musingly.
"It's a pretty name."
She hummed.
"Do you often speak to people?" He never heard of such entities as her. It couldn't have been a common occurrence, surely. But wouldn't that be lonely? Having no one to talk to?
She shook her head, and there was a wistful look in her eyes.
"I haven't spoken to anybody in centuries." That couldn't have been nice, Arthur thinks. If she could speak to him, why didn't she speak to others?
"Why'd you speak to me than?" Freya didn't answer immediately, pausing the flow of their measured back-and-forth. It almost looked like she was unsure, but her features were still so calm, it was impossible to tell.
Then, she asked. "Do you have dreams, sometimes?"
It was a silly question. Everybody had dreams. Arthur understood immediately though, it wasn't the regular kind of dreams she was talking about.
Because the thing is, Arthur did have dreams. Ever since he was little. He remembers dreaming of white towers and battlements, of bright red banners and capes. Of metal clanging and laughter and a weight of a sword in his hand, on his hip. Of familiar faces he could never quite place. Of raven curls and bright blue eyes, especially often.
He never told his father about them — he'd call such things foolish. Arthur didn't think they were.
Arthur looked at Freya and nodded. There was a glim of relief in her eyes, he thought.
"Would you like to see more?" She asked, offering him her hand. Not solid in any common way of the world but in that moment, more real than any other thing around them.
Arthur didn't think twice before grasping it.
-----

Title: Tauren the wizard and his group of renegade sorcerers 🧙
Episode: To Kill the King
Questions by @tansyuduri
Tagging @miyriu
Question:
Arthur: Tauren, the leader of a band of renegade sorcerers, sworn to bring down the king.
Notice how Arthur says "A band" not "The band." There is more than one of these bands.
It also makes me wonder if there are spells to cover tracks, because even after 20 years. Uther doesn’t seem to have hunted down even nearly all opposition?
My answer: Other sorcerers, like Alvarr, his consort Enmyria, and the camp of renegade fighters he had at his disposal also were still at large as well.
Which makes sense since the majority of the renegade sorcerers that have evaded Uther so far, likley aren’t in Camelot (but in the neighboring kingdoms) and therefore out of his jurisdiction.
I know Uther ventured onto Cenred’s land to capture both Balinor and the Cup of Life, but that’s probably due to how powerful the dragonlord was and how dangerous the cup would be in the wrong hands.
Therefore it makes sense that there’s plenty of bands of sorcerers who remain outside the kingdom looking for an opening to kill the king and return magic to the land.
Book description: Alvarr's plan failed and his renegade camp was raided by Arthur and his men.

Question: It’s mentioned that Arther recognised him. This and the "sworn to bring down the king" kind of implies there were previous encounters Arthur had with this man. He tangled with this man before and survived it, (Tauren also survived this mysterious previous encounter)?
So I kinda wonder if Tauren is not actually that powerful of a magic user?
Especially since he did not include magic in his latter assasination attempt?
My answer: It’s possible that Arthur never had an actual run-in with Tauren, but rather his band of sorcerers had caused a lot of problems and that his picture might have been spread around on a wanted poster of sorts.
As far as power levels, the “Merlin’s Villians Guide” book, lists both Tauren and Alvarr’s magical powers as three stars (⭐️ ⭐️⭐️). Which is the same level as Freya, Aglain, Gaius, ect….
So Tauren must be a moderately powerful sorcerer (although less than Edwin Muirden and Mary Collins which are listed as four star magic users).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Question: I wonder how he got the stone?
My answer: All the books says is that the Mage Stone, “eventually came into Tauren's possession.”
The fact that it was ‘lost for over a thousand years’ means that it likely wasn’t a family heirloom.
Perhaps it was an artifact that was excavated from ruins (like the relics hidden away in Sigan’s tomb) and Tauren managed to be the one to find it due to him being sensitive to magic. 🪄
Its power can be detected by those sensitive to magic, such as Merlin.
Book description: The Mage Stone is a wonder of the Ancients; a powerful magical item. It can be used to deflect spells but it is most prized for its gift of transformation: the bearer of the Mage Stone can turn lead into gold.
Its power can be detected by those sensitive to magic, such as Merlin. The stone was lost for over a thousand years, but eventually came into Tauren's possession.

i understand that freya’s character is very intertwined with merlin’s but i think we should start treating her like her own character instead of adding merlin into the equation majority of the time

I love modern AU Will/Freya. I need a Will/Freya centric fic
They have such a cute dynamic. They'd be so chaotic. I need to make fanart of them. Will would definitely be explosively overprotective but Freya would be levelheaded- on the surface. Actually she's the more chaotic of them. And she can shut him up with one look. A very nice look with a very nice smile.
Okay I'm rambling now, i should definitely write a fic. When i finish the rest of my wips. Which is never. Perhaps I'll give it higher priority...

Your go, Ms Void!!
Headcanon about Arthur (or Freya??)
Agh. I always take so long to come up with headcanons lmao
I've already done a couple on Arthur, but hmmm, let's see... Freya...
In my world, if Freya survived, she would be able to change in and out of her Bastet form whenever she liked (except for a few limitations like maybe she has to shift at least once a week or something because the curse is just so intertwined with her body).
My biggest headcanon that also fits in with canon is that the Bastet curse was taking up all her magical abilities which is why we don't see her doing any magic in Merlin. She used to have the magical abilities of an average person (say a step below Gaius's power), but when she was cursed, the curse caused her magic to turn against her and regularly turn her into a bloodthirsty-Bastet each night.
Which is why Merlin was the only one all this time who was able to calm her down in her Bastet form. 1) Because she loved Merlin and his soft, gentle and reassuring ways deeply and also 2) because Merlin is Emrys, he is magic and so he was able to reach out to Freya's magic through their connection with one another and calm it down.
And before the Lake of Avalon, while Merlin was sobbing and whispering for her to not let go, his magic listened and made Freya the Lady of the Lake. The Triple Goddess saw what Merlin was (subconsciously) doing and since he's Emrys, she trusted his reasoning and helped with the process to make Freya the Guardian of Avalon.
That's my two cents!

Question: More details about minor characters ESPECIALLY from season 2 (Freya, ect..)
Here's the info about Freya….
Source: Merlin heroes guide
Tag: @tansyuduri
- Merlin brought Freya food and tried to cheer her up, and a powerful bond quickly formed between the pair.
- But despite her affection for Merlin, Freya warned him to stay away from her; insisting she wasn't worthy of his kindness.
- Even when it became obvious that Freya was no longer safe in Camelot, a besotted Merlin decided he would give up his destiny to move away with her.
- Years earlier, Freya accidently killed a man in self-defence.
- Freya tried to stay away from people so she couldn't do any harm but every morning she woke as a girl, burdened with the terrible knowledge that she had taken innocent lives during the night. Her life was a disturbed and lonely one - until she met Merlin.
- Freya would not die alone, or lonely. She passed away in Merlin's arms, thankful that someone at last knew her as a girl and not a monster. And, what's more, he loved her.
