“What would you teach?” Gemma asked as she sat down on a chair, gesturing for Devon to sit next to her. She seemed genuinely interested.

“Probably, like, how to survive a zombie apocalypse.” Devon sat down. “You know, useful stuff.”

“Now who’s the nerd?” Gemma said with a small grin on her lips. Devon shoved their shoulders together, feeling the heat even through the fabric.

Excerpt:

Devon was in love, and she wasn’t sure what to do with herself.

It started one day when she was visiting Mark at his job. The idiot had forgotten his briefcase at home, and thus the lecture planning for the day. Devon, with a key to his home, was of course the go-to person for him to call to go and get it.

“You should just make your planning digital,” she said, throwing the case on his desk and receiving a panicked yelp from him as his coffee cup almost tumbled to the floor. “Then you wouldn’t need to use me as a pack mule.”

Mark grabbed onto it, putting it in a safer position and smoothing his hands over the top. “You have to admit I look a lot cooler walking around with a briefcase, though.”

“You actually look very stupid, but that’s none of my business.” Devon grinned at him, and he just shook his head.

hehe i've written a couple! a two-shot (which honestly could've been two one-shots lmao) and a pwp! the two-shot is the first fanfic i wrote as an adult actually, this fandom made me so crazy it made me pick up fanfiction writing after over a decade 😵‍💫

Okay, because it's Severance, I'll cheat and recommend two: 12. Recommend a fic that formed or changed your opinion on something (characterization, backstory, relationship, etc.)

keeping a garden - this is the first Gemdev fic I ever read and, although I already shipped them, this fic really made me consider the tragedy of them already having romantic feelings for one another pre canon, to the point that this is my headcanon now. Also this fic is so beautiful and so sad, I think about it all the time.

phantoms - look, I'll never be a Markgemma shipper, HOWEVER, this fic did make me see their relationship under a new light and appreciate the tragedy of it more. Do I still think they're doomed? For sure. However they are very tender, and loved one another very much and they'll probably love one another forever, and that fic helped me see that (also hello? the best take on reintegration I've ever read, absolutely amazing).

25. What fic do you wish you got more of a response on?

Honest to god I am thrilled with any response at all and I have everything to be grateful for between all the people I get to talk to about my/their work and the really lovely comments I receive. I have a fic that got very little attention but it was truly something I wrote almost entirely for myself and @frozenpinees alone so I don't begrudge the non-reception outside of herself and I in the slightest. If you're curious this is the fic.

32. Name three of your favorite fanfic writers.

OK this is really difficult!

five_rat_lore (@fiveroundliner) consistently writes the best smut in the fandom like, point blank period. I am kind of bashful about speaking about this stuff if im being honest so i will leave it at that but if i were less so i could genuinely go ON.

fortheknife (@spareham) has such a great gemdev series that I am actually on the edge of my seat waiting for the next part to drop even tho the last one just came out. their work touches on a lot of racial/natal alienation themes in a pretty mature/serious way that not a lot of fic does that i truly truly love. I also really like Asal and Loveland!

now, this is jumping out of the fandom that were all presumably in but Skinfull (idk their handle here, if they have one) has a collection for the X-Files that im just genuinely in awe of, it is so many damn fics, one for every episode for several seasons and i believe it is still ongoing. I went through a deep x-files phase last year and would follow along with this as I watched, good shit.
