Hmm. Y'know, considering that @harrison-armory-official are keeping in proper touch with their customer-base, I'm surprised that Smith-Shimano Corpro, IPS-Northstar, or General Massive Systems haven't thrown together their own accounts to do likewise.
Superior By Design, right down to Public Relations and Customer Communication, eh?

I've been having some very strange trouble with my mech lately that I haven't been able to track down the source of. I was hoping you could help?
Also, just to get it out of the way, I do not have a Manticore. I don't know why everyone keeps asking me that. As far as I know, I've never even seen a HORUS frame outside of holos, and I certainly don't have any licenses for one. And yes, I have checked what licenses I'm recorded as owning just to make sure. I've checked three times, because people would not stop going on about it until I'd done it in front of them.
Now that that's cleared up, I pilot a custom quadrupedal Everest that's been refitted to have a small two-person apartment in it. That all went off fine, but ever since I decided to integrate a new laser directly into the chassis, the toilet's started flushing itself at seemingly random intervals, and about half the time when I fire it the kettle turns on.
Regards, Brimstone
P.S.: Speaking of laser systems, my lancemate's NHP designed one for her, and she figured she could do the install herself, but she's really been struggling with it recently and doesn't want to admit to needing her help for it. Any advice on connecting a customised GMS supercell blaze generator to a standard HA torch emitter?
With regards to the first question: it seems like you've linked them directly to the same power source. When your laser vents heat or fires, it's overloading the other systems on the same circuit, and causing them to activate. You can solve this by giving the laser a direct reactor connection, rather than attaching it to the expansion port.
With regards to the second: She'll probably need to install a voltage converter, since the two components aren't made by the same manufacturer. It should be fairly easy to acquire one from GMS. Additionally, they're constructed from different polycarbons, so she'll need to use an adhesive rather than attempting to fuse or magnaweld them.

GMS is happy to announce that, for today only, we will be redistributing Chomolungma liscences to any applicants already in possession of Everest frames. Additionally, our askbox is now open

Everyone talks about the Nelson when it comes to speed, but forgets about the Everest. Old Reliable is the fastest mech.
You want lancer builds? SPEED IS LIFE, ALL IN ON THE NELSON BABY SPEED IS WAR
SORRY OFFICER THE SPEED LIMIT DOESNT APPLY TO ME
CANT HIT ME IF YOU CANT TOUCH ME

To explain what our company owner did I'll link you back to the incident logs.
What makes this impressive is she refuses to install even a Comp/Con unit into her mech.
GMS hasn't followed up since the incident.

Either we pissed them off or we made them proud. I do not like the idea of either of those things. This is certainly something. @harrison-armory-incorporated

But one of the biggest things out of this whole mess is the weird sort of. Egalitarianism? What the fuck are words, I don’t know. Whatever, the weird places where people could just not give a shit about gender or sex in Naruto.
AKA, let’s talk a bit about ANBU, land of the “no one knows your face, no one knows your name, fuck your personal identity, no one’s allowed to even remember your body shape since that can give away secrets, just stab that target real good and do your job.” It’s the kind of place where all that matters is how good of a weapon you are, and we can turn it into the fucked up little deadly meritocracy we want to. Because I only have so much patience for dealing with chauvinism in my dumb little fiction project.
The general shinobi forces also broadly has this attitude, though it might not be to the extreme of ANBU and ROOT. At the end of the day, as long as you can carry out your missions well, based on your specializations, the distinctions between male and female shouldn’t be a massive impediment to your ability to serve the village.
It’s the extra politics and the civilian cultural expectations that start messing things up.

Howdy Doc, on anon bc I dunno if my Fireteam leader or my mech watch my blog
I recently got clearance to pilot my first frame, and got stuck with the one Everest in the hangar with a busted heat vent. She’s got a baby NHP in there for some reason, but neither of us have any idea how to patch up this thing.
Any tips for- A) Possibly using the vent’s damage as a weapon/resource; or B) fixin the damn thing on a budget?
Luckily the Everest is one of the most modular frames out there, so replacing the vents shouldn't be too difficult assuming you have access to the parts, but if you can't, try integrating a fuel rod cannon, which both cools the mech and serves as a weapon.

Every time a post either mentions TES 6 or makes me think about TES 6 I'm that spongebob meme of the guy with the spear, stopping myself from blackpilling all over again....

her having the face and voice of her source characters actor and feeling really uncomfortable with it because she feels like she disrespects the actor by using them without his consent... and there's no way there's a chance in all the world she can ask because she partially directly emerged from the grief this brain felt about his death so... this is. really weird. we've also been thinking about her whole thing carrying on his memory or something but that doesn't seem to fix anything. like how do you solve this

Chat, I think we’ve got the amnesia.

"Boil water to turn fan" as if multistage steam turbine generators are not one of the sexiest kinds of machines every made
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
nuclear power is impressive until you get up to why. "we use the most precisely engineered machinery ever created to split atoms to release energy" oh yeah how come? "boil water to turn a fan" get the fuck out
#its genuinely crazy the math and engineering that go into making these absolutely massive steam turbines#its an incredible balancing act to optimize between the interconnected variables of pressure velocity and temperature in order#to extract as much energy as possible from the steam as it moves through the system#especially like. those generators need to maintain a very precise rotational speed in order to prevent the coupled generator#from going out of phase with the power grid#(3000 RPM for 50 Hz grids and 3600 RPM for 60 Hz grids)#like the reactor part sounds like a lot of engineering work (and it is!) but like. the turbine is fucking incredibly impressive too#each one of those turbine stages needs to have very specifically shaped blades in order to control steam pressure drop and steam velocity#and the blades need to be able to physically handle being in a wet (at least for nuclear plants where the steam is pretty wet) high temp#environment and constantly being spun at high rotational speeds for decades at a time.#we had to develop specialized nickel titanium superalloys with tightly controlled crystalline structures in order to build turbines this big#stare into the depths of “wow we really just use steam to spin a big fan that sounds simple” and you encounter#the lifes work of thousands of mathematicians computer engineers material scientists and mechanical engineers#the first device we could call a steam turbine was made as a toy in tthe first century ancient greece and egypt#the first steam turbine with a practical use was described in 1551 in Ottoman Egypt. it was used to turn a spit of meat over a fire.#the first modern multistage impluse steam turbine was made in 1884 and revolutionized electricity generation and marine propulsion#in the 141 years since there have been more improvements than one could even list#from major design changes credited to great men to miniscule efficiencies and optimizations gained from tweaking the composition of an alloy#idk. i think its beautiful to think about the web of human knowledge woven collectively by thousands of hands across history#could you imagine what the ancient greek engineers who first put together the prototype for an aeolipile would think to see what we have#made now. could they even recognize our designs as belonging to the same category of object as their little toy#anyway#appreciate the humble steam turbine with the same eye you give to the reactor core#mine#just my thoughts
