Centrifugal – Centripetal, July 2023, La Chaume. France Double exposure photomontage of the Armandèche lighthouse staircase, located on the mainland west of the port of Les Sables-d’Olonne, Vendée. Built in 1968 from the plans of architect Maurice Durand, it is the last great lighthouse built in France. Its name comes from the place called L'Armandèche, in La Chaume, a district of Les Sables-d’Olonne. ‘Armandèche’ is a deformation of ‘Normandy’, a reminder of the Norman invasions of the first millennium.

For some context: What From the Water Rises is a collection of short stories by me & Fell A. Marsh, following the inhabitants of an island newly created by the god of the sea in the gulf between two empires. FFO fantasy with strong cultural worldbuilding & characters, extremely repressed gay people, extremely un-repressed gay people, swordfights, pirates, etc. :)

The first ten are loosely interrelated, and a longform arc begins with #11, but I'd recommend reading them more or less in order! (The first four, you could read in any order you want without missing anything.)
