Living with dyslexia

There comes a point in life where, I've heard so much dyslexic jokes to point where I struggle to take myself seriously. Which is weird...I constantly remind myself that "it isnt my fault" "I learn different, that's all". But recently, I've been feeling more stupid. I want to assume is because I've been called on more for reading aloud but again, I understood myself to an extent where that didnt bother me, it may literally be the jokes getting to me. I try to distance myself from the jokes, but my days..it is everywhere I go, dont get me started on nerodivergent jokes...I am just too tired to deal with things these days

there is a man (old fashion dressed), who (half)crawled out of a big! old fancy portrait (gothy black frame), his hand (covered with golden rings) raising his heavy cane (ebony, an eye is carved in its handle, a shiny emerald as its pupil) over an oblivious victim (someone who sneaked into the gallery at night) who happened to step too close "It's called painting for a reason", he says as he hits the other as hard as he can ~ years later ~

an archivist finds and reads a statement about it, while the same ol portrait is hanging on the wall (it is right behind him, looking as good and colorful as if it were painted yesterday)

Recently coming back to LOTM fandom and I have some realizations.

One of the things that I have found wonderful is how I came to the LOTM fandom. Like, I was never one to carelessly go read something that is about 2000 chapters long. Never did it and was planning to never do it. Until it crossed my recs.

At first glance, the cover could do some work, as it just made me think of the grim reaper fighting stuff. To be honest, I got baited because of the title, Lord of Mysteries. At that time i was searching for light novels with mystery in it and the title automatically went into the list for obvious reasons.

I was excited since it had nice reviews, but then got turned off by the amount of chapters and out it I to the back of my list, almost never seeing it again.

Until I did. I was bored and couldn't find a good novel that satisfy my recent tag craving. So I tried the long stuff, it is also additional kudos for me to finish that damn long book (which was mostly my first reason of actually reading it) . So I checked it and.... The rest is history

And I fell in love with the character, Klein. I thought it was going to be the dreaded cliche transmigration prompt, but the author played it beautifully. While the general transmigration trope has deus ex machina and harem and the character having it easy, here he suffered. He suffered through the separation, replacing the original owner of the body and simply solving the mystery of his existence. And I fuckin love every single part of it.

Here we see a transmigrated character that actually started from rock bottom, although yes, he had some inherent gifts but it was limited as fuck that sometimes barely helps him. He actually built his strength up and we got to experience real camaraderie and friendship that isn't cliche.

I got to cut talking about it because it gonna get long with how much I'm gonna praise it, and also it'll probably involve spoilers if I continue.

But in summary, the story is beautiful, the characters are amazing and relatable. So relatable that it definitely affected me emotionally too much, so I stopped reading it around chapter 1100+. Stuff just went to dark, too way darker and I couldn't handle it during those times.

But I'm trying to pick it up these days, with the trailer releasing and me recently knowing that there's a fuckin second book (WHY DID NO ONE TOLD ME??!!) and I actually want to find out what else happened. but yeah, it's going slow. I still don't want it to affect my life (it hit me harder than orv tbh) so I'll probably read it during a very very long vacay.

Anyways, that's all. Just want to put up my own appreciation to this literary piece that has brought me joy, sadness, depression (unfortunately), psychological perspectives, deep realizations and some philosophy. Sorry if you're seeing this and not relating to it. But I just really need to get it out, because none of my friends get it. And I was hoping someone out there could.

I’m thinking about Wicked tonight, specifically why Elphaba ends up with Fiyero instead of Glinda in the musical despite Elphaba and Glinda having the more well-rounded relationship.

You could chalk it up to the writers wanting a heteronormative ending (and I’m certain that’s part of it) or the fact that Elphaba and Fiyero had a love affair in the book. But I think there’s a bit more nuance to it.

The whole point of Glinda’s character is that she upholds the status quo of Oz. No matter how much she loves Elphaba or sympathizes with the plight of the Animals, she will always align herself with the current system and those in power. And as long as that remains the case, a relationship between her and Elphaba is futile because Elphaba will not give up her cause.

Elphaba and Glinda represent to different ends of a spectrum. Elphaba resists the oppressive forces in Oz, while Glinda upholds them. But Fiyero is somewhere in the middle. He starts out privileged and carefree like Glinda, but quickly turns to Elphaba’s side. He does become Captain of the Guard, but only to find Elphaba and help her evade arrest.

And therein lies the difference between Glinda and Fiyero as love interests to Elphaba. Glinda would never sacrifice her title as “the Good Witch” and all her power granted from the Wizard, even if it meant helping Elphaba. Fiyero, on the other hand, does give up his privilege, his title, and even his human form for Elphaba. Glinda clings to what the status quo gives her, while Fiyero ultimately rejects it.

Yes, the writing around Elphaba and Fiyero’s romance is a bit rushed and doesn’t have the same gradual development that Elphaba and Glinda have. And yes, I have no doubt heteronormativity played a role in giving Elphaba a male love interest in the end. But I see a lot of people write off Fiyero and his relationship with Elphaba and I just don’t agree.

Why does Elphaba end up with Fiyero instead of Glinda? Because Fiyero makes the sacrifices that Glinda wasn’t willing to.
