𓆩ᥫ᭡𓆪┊EXTRA FACTS!
୨୧ she's super close with joe despite the seven-year age difference. ୨୧ joe is super proud of all of her hard work and dedication in everything that she does. ୨୧ the entire bangles team buys her merch and listens to her music in the locker room even if they don't admit it to anyone. ୨୧ growing up, she wanted to be famous so bad that she begged her parents to let her audition for acting gigs, and later she started putting out music. ୨୧ she lives on her own out in la, but she has her own bedroom at joe's house in cincinnati for when she visits or just wants to get away for a while. ୨୧ her and olivia are absolute best friends and it warms joe's heart to have two of the most important women in his life being so close to one another. ୨୧ even though her brother plays in the nfl, she's a huge nhl fan, but most specifically she's a jersey devil's fan. ୨୧ her best friend is joey king. ୨୧ she loves anything sweet, but she's a big sucker for donuts. ୨୧ she's not a real blonde but keeps up with dying her hair because she doesn't like her original hair color. ୨୧ she calls joe almost every day but she'll call him more than once when she's really missing her brother. ୨୧ she dated her girl meets world costar, tanner buchanan, in 2016 before the two split in 2018 on mutual terms. ୨୧ during the summer, when she's not on tour, she's spending time at the lake house with the boys, but she leaves early to make sure she sees her brother before their schedules get hectic. ୨୧ she will NOT eat mcdonald's, she's told herself that she can't have it and she's sticking to it. ୨୧ she prefers waffles over pancakes and cupcakes over cake. ୨୧ she's allergic to nuts and makes sure to keep her epipen with her at all times. ୨୧ joe is her emergency contact so the one time in the summer where she accidently eats something with nuts (the boys at the lake house freaking out during) he jumps on the first flight to michigan just to check on her. ୨୧ she doesn't keep in touch with any of her girl meets world co-stars, but she has kept in contact with corey (her closest male friend) and sometimes she's seen commenting on peyton meyers instagram. ୨୧ she hates her middle name and knows she's in trouble when her parents (and even joe) call her by her first and middle name. ୨୧ she has a small butterfly tattoo behind her ear that she got matching with olivia. ୨୧ she has a necklace that was given to her from ja'marr chase for her birthday with a diamond encrusted plaque of her name that she never takes off. ୨୧ to add to the necklace from ja'marr, she had a shorter necklace that has jacks' initials hanging from it that he gave her that she also hardly ever takes off.
𓆩ᥫ᭡𓆪┊KAELYN & JACK'S TIMELINE!
୨୧ in 2021, she was on james cordan where she played 'spill your guts' and admitted to having a thing for new jersey devil's player, jack hughes. ୨୧ after the episode aired, everyone on the internet freaked out, making sure to tag the devil's center player in everything. ୨୧ jack was seen commenting on her instagram just a few days after the episode aired. ୨୧ joe, being the overprotective big brother that he is, made sure he did his research on the hockey plater before approving of them. ୨୧ their relationship was confirmed in june of 2021 when he posted pictures of her from a concert he went to while she was on tour with the caption, "my girl❤️". ୨୧ jack's family adores kaelyn, her and luke ending up being the best of friends due to being the same age.

Both are good choices. If I'm in need of a good laugh, I'll always turn on The Office. Have any set plans for when work will start up again?
Now that my Broadway Play is coming to an end, I'm going to have lots of free time. Give me your recommendations on what I should do... anywhere from vacations to Netflix shows. @gonehollywoodstarters

I have seen on so many occasions that the Lucaya kiss was too passionate for Disney's standards at the time. That's not why it was cut. Michael Jacobs tweeted (@GMWwriters) the almost kiss was shot two different ways (kiss and almost kiss) and that it didn't fit the direction that the show was going in. It's safe to say that Riley and Maya's friendship would've imploded had Lucas kissed Maya. Riley wasn't ready, obviously. I could write a list on why Rucas was doomed but I hope this is useful.
Yeah I forgot about this but I remember this being said too! TBH I heard both which leads me to believe maybe it was a little bit of both reasons.
It’s interesting because I was just on twitter for a LONG time trying to find where the writers talked about this but couldn’t find it. HOWEVER, Peyton Meyer (who played Lucas) apparently did a Twitch stream literally a couple months ago and talked about how they shot two versions and how he wishes the kiss was aired. Even he didn’t totally understand why the other one was shown. I know a Lucaya when I see one 🥲 I also saw all the tweets about how sad the showrunners were it got cancelled. Gosh it makes me wish we had a s4 for that and Andi Mack SO much more. Im so happy we’re getting one for hsmtmts
I think the show runners for gmw put a LOT of thought and intention into their show, so I’m sure that list would be very, very long. Lol but it’s been fun remembering gmw. Thank you for your ask anon :)

HSMTMTS 2x08 Review
Most Likely To was the best ep of S2 so far and ended one ship while launching another. Let’s dig in!
Gaston was super fun, a very nice showcase for both Larry and Matt. This is the kind of energy that early S2 was lacking. Also feels like the first ep where East High might actually have a shot at beating North High. Covid restrictions played a role but we really needed to see more rehearsal scenes and scenes of the wildcats just being theatre kids. This also may be one of the last times we see EJ perform as a student in the musical so I’m glad we got this.
EJ has been criminally underused for most of S2, he’s marketed as part of the big 4 along with Nini, Ricky, and Gina and Matt Cornett’s name is listed 3rd in the credits but in the early eps of S2 you’d think he was guest star. Lately he’s started to become more important and tonight was an excellent showcase of why he’s such an interesting character. I’m not gonna check but this feels like it’s the most EJ screen time in a single ep that we’ve gotten all season long.
Of course, the main reason for EJ’s increased screen time is because of Portwell. I’ve been neutral on them but tonight they really won me over’ their scenes were so sweet that they warmed even my cold black heart. Matt and Sofia are good friends irl and that shines through in their easy rapport and great chemistry. Gina snorting at EJ’s joke was cute and I loved the shot of Gina accidentally walking into the shot for EJ’s confessional. As an aside, they’ve been doing some fun stuff with the confessionals lately which helps add a bit of the metaness that helped make S1 so great.
The real big Portwell scene tonight was EJ and Gina talking on the couch at Ashlyn’s. Lot’s to love there. Gina’s speech to EJ about what she sees when she thinks of him was sweet and her saying that EJ tried to do the right thing and often failed but kept trying echoes what she said of herself during her confession to Ricky. Also when EJ asked Gina if she understood the feeling of having her life mapped out she replied, ‘’not really’’ which is almost certainly the inspiration for Gina asking a question to EJ and him responding ‘’not really’’ in their pre S2 face time call on the hsmtmts instagram.
EJ is still wracked with guilt for the guy he used to be but Gina reminds him that he’s grown and is a good guy which leads to her slip up about her seeing him that way vs the rest of the gang hinting that she’s beginning to catch feelings for EJ. Which leads to EJ complimenting her and them having a moment that could well have led to a kiss if Ashlyn hadn’t come home. And they cap it off with Gina falling asleep and EJ covering her with his Duke sweater.
It’s been nice not seeing Gina upset over Ricky these past two eps and it’s a damning indictment of the poor writing and pacing of S2 that her story in the first 6 eps can be summed up as Gina being upset over something Ricky said or did. Not only has Portwell allowed EJ to rise in prominence but also it’s allowed Gina to escape the rut her character was stuck in pining for Ricky.
I hope after S2 is over that we get an interview where Tim explains how the Portwell plot came to be. The S1 finale set up some possible interest between them as did the pre S2 face time call but nothing came of it during the first 4 eps, they stood next to each other a lot but barely interacted otherwise. Notably in 2x01, which Tim himself wrote, EJ tries to grow a beard and tells Ashlyn that he says her as so young which is extremely jarring now that we know that EJ is crushing on Gina who is Ashlyn’s age.
Was Tim not set on doing Portwell until he realized he needed to give Gina something else to do other than hopelessly pine for Ricky? Narratively, it made sense after Rini got together in S1 to put the other two Big 4 characters together in S2 but did Tim not want it to seem so obvious to the audience so he deliberately kept Portwell apart until 2x05 where EJ’s feelings make for a nice plot twist? Was he just reluctant to plug EJ back into the love square due to how much more complicated it would make things but later felt he had no other options? Or was it just plain old bad pacing and writing?
Of course, I wish that there wasn’t such a large age gap between Sofia and Matt but there are no Gina ships that avoid that problem, there’s also an age gap between Sofia and Joshua, just as there was between Olivia and Joshua and Matt in S1. Depending on when they film S3 there’s a good chance that most of it will be finished before Sofia even turns 18 which is deeply unfortunate. There’s a broader issue of teen girls being cast in mostly age appropriate roles while their male love interests are older adults and in particular it often affects female characters of colour. Netflix has a really bad track record with those kind of age gaps but Disney has problems too as we’ve seen on HSMTMTS and on GMW where by the end of S3 they had 18 year old Peyton Meyer as the boyfriend of 14 year old Rowan Blanchard’s character (not to mention canon Joshaya which didn’t have such a bad age gap between the actors but was problematic regarding the ages of the characters themselves).
A knock I’ve seen on Portwell is that EJ is just gonna leave for university next year but that was never gonna happen, Matt’s under the same 4 season contract as all the other mains and he’ll be sticking around in some capacity much like Sharpay ended up doing in the movies. It is true that EJ will probably have to move on at the end of S4 while Gina still has her senior year left but that will also happen with her and Ricky since he’ll be graduating at the end of S4. It was a big mistake to make EJ a senior but it also may end up being a big mistake to make Gina a sophomore. It would have been too messy to retcon EJ to be a junior but Tim probably should have taken the chance to retcon Gina into being a junior in S2.
That Rini breakup was so sad (missed opportunity for gotta go my own way). They managed to get in a Troyella reference with the treehouse. This was inevitable they just have not been communicating well though now that we know that Ricky thought Nini left YAC for him some of his desperation to spend as much time together as possible makes more sense. I think Rini is endgame if the series has 4 seasons but it wouldn't shock me if we never seem them dating again and they only get back together in the series finale. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Nini never dates anyone else for the remainder of the series or at least not seriously.
We’re not even halfway through the series so it’s way too early to permanently slam the door on Rini though this time apart will probably help Joshua and Olivia move on from their own bitter break up before it bleeds too much into their performances. I do wonder if Tim really has a clue what he's gonna do with them for the remaining 24-28 eps of the series, assuming S3 and S4 have 10-12 eps each.
Roman Banks killed If I Can’t Love Her and the montage of all the couples or ex couples was great.
It was nice to finally meets some parents other than the Bowen’s and Salazar-Roberts’. Kourtney’s mom was played by Dara’s actual mother and their dynamic was great as expected. It seems from their conversation that Kourtney's father is dead which I don’t believe has been mentioned before. Cash Caswell.... well it gets what the character is about across. He really looks and sounds like a rich Utah republican, I bet he knows Mitt Romney personally. I liked EJ going to tell his father that he’s not going to Duke and recognizing that he wants to build his own life on his own merits.
We saw a bit of that S1 Miss Jenn energy tonight which was fun though I didn't like how curt she was with Seb nor did I like how rude Carlos was to Seb although we know that blows up in 2x10.
Jazzara rising! I really liked how Jazzara and Portwell are sort of mirroring each other and since Mazzara knows about EJ’s feelings for Gina it wouldn’t shock me if helping EJ out is part of him showing a softer side in 2x12.
Of course Ashlyn is VP of the Nostradamus society. It's clear her family has some kooky new age beliefs (her parents are probably members of some naturopathic medicine group on Facebook that doubles as a gateway into Qanon)
It was nice to see Big Red being such a good friend to Ricky and the return of Ricky’s infamous pillow hugs. Lmao at Ashlyn just chilling while Big Red is comforting Ricky
Also Miss Jenn saying sexy and Big Red referring to pillow talk, the writers are adding a bit of spice when cooking up these scripts.
Looking Ahead:
Looks like Gina may be wearing EJ's duke sweater next ep according to some posts I saw. Jack presumably is there to somehow help Gina decide what she wants with Ricky and EJ though him having wanderlust might also feed into Gina’s thoughts on settling down in SLC or moving with her mom around the country.
Let's see what mom of the year, Lynne Bowen, has up her sleeves. Ricky’s bedroom at her place in Chicago looks much nicer than the apartment Mike Bowen has so perhaps she makes a lot more money than he does.
Not looking forward to the Zoom portions of the ep but I guess it was inevitable.
There’s only two paths for Gina’s story to go in the remainder of this season; either she decides to move on from Ricky and give EJ a chance or she decides that Ricky is worth trying again and squelches her budding feelings for EJ. The former looks much more likely after tonight’s ep but either way it needs to be handled with care. Inevitably Gina and Ricky need to talk about what happened between them but if Tim really wants Ricky to continue being a viable love interest or even a good friend to Gina then he needs to really have Ricky apologize and show a thoughtful, kinder side of him that’s largely been missing this season.
What I think Tim is doing is setting up Portwell getting together in 2x12 but Ricky pining over Gina until Portwell break up late S3 and Rina get together in the S3 finale before they break up later in S4 and Ricky gets back with Nini near the end of the series. If I had Tim’s ear I would tell him that he should pick which ship he wants to do, Rina or Portwell, but don’t do both. He wants canon Rina? Great then end Portwell before it starts and have Rina happen in S3 and introduce other obstacles to them getting together rather than having to damage EJ’s character and make him lose another girl he likes to Ricky. He wants canon Portwell? Great then have Gina and Ricky’s conversation be closure for the both of them and have Gina and EJ get together and break them up without Ricky being a cause of it or waiting in the wings to get with Gina soon afterwards. Doing both will be a disaster and I truly hope that Tim Federle carefully thinks over his mistakes in S2 and really plans out the remaining 2 seasons of the series while there’s still time to prevent things from going really off the rails like GMW and AM did thanks to the bad decisions of Michael Jacobs and Terri Minsky.
Until next week wildcats.

THE OUTSIDERS RECAST
I just have one good explanation to Darry Curtis, because I wanted to focus on the age of the character, because I have seen a lot of recast-dreamcast, where the chosen one is 35-45… and the character is only 20 so…

Described as: “tall, lean, cocky, and smart.” He likes to comb his hair in thick complicated swirls. - The Outsiders Wiki
I think this one was the easier one to choose, I just watched some photos and they completely give me the vive for Steve

Described as: “[having] an elfish face with high cheekbones, a pointed chin, small, sharp animal teeth, and ears like a lynx. Dally didn’t like haircuts nor hair oil, so his almost white-blonde hair fell over his forehead in wisps. He had blazing blue eyes which Ponyboy describes as ‘cold with all the hatred in the world.’”- The Outsiders Wiki
I know this actor for playing Chic in Riverdale, and the role of Dallas was made for this man, he can transmit to the audience that fear sensation that he produces, that Ponyboy describes. He had blonde hair, light eyes, that even that they are not blue, give me this petrifying sensation.

Described as: “around six feet tall, stocky in build, and was very proud of his long, rust-colored sideburns. He has grey eyes and was always wearing a wide grin. In “The Outsiders” novel, Two-Bit’s hair is described as ‘rust colored.'” -The Outsiders Wiki
I really look for a red headed, and I founded some cool actors, but I just watched this image from the actor with actual sideburns and I just said: he’s the one

Described as: “smaller than the rest, with a slight build. He had big black eyes in a dark tanned face; his hair was jet-black and heavily greased and combed to the side, but it was so long that it fell in shaggy bangs across his forehead.” - The Outsiders Wiki
I felt he could really play Johnny really well, he can give this nervous look and this terrified face to the camera, but he can also can show the strength that Johnny is provided with, his leadership, his cold head in the difficult times…

Described as: “‘movie star handsome,’ and has silky, dark gold hair (real tuff) that he combs back with dark brown (recklessly, dancing) eyes and a goofy grin that you can’t help but love (which is noted by Ponyboy after getting jumped by the Socs).” - The Outsiders Wiki
Oh men, I really really thought about Peyton Meyer, but in the very last second, I remembered Froy Gutierrez and I couldn’t help myself, because he is so gorgeous, and once I visualized him, I could not see anyone else in the role.

Described as: “[having] light-brown hair and greenish-gray eyes. He has a good build for his size and is a fast runner. At the beginning of the novel, Ponyboy’s hair is long and squared in the back, but after his haircut in Windrixville, his hair is short and bleached blond.”- The Outsiders Wiki
I just knew this actor for playing a role in Anne with an E, and I feel that he actually could make an incredible acting as Ponyboy Curtis, the character he played in Anne with an E, Cole, is an artist, like Pony, he also likes the loneliness, he has being bullied, he is shy…
Also, the actor has light brown a little read head hair, green eyes…
I think he’s perfect for the role

Described as: “a large man, of 6’ 2" and he is broad shouldered. His hair is said to be like his father’s- dark brown that sticks out in the front of his head with a cowlick in the back. His eyes “are like two pieces of pale blue-green ice.” He is said to look exactly like his father, but with different eyes. Also, he looks older than his actual age, which is twenty. Ponyboy says he would be better looking if his eyes weren’t so cold.” - The Outsiders Wiki
I think that Colton Haynes is one of the best options to play Darry, I have only followed his career through Teen Wolf, and even if in their firsts seasons he played a spoiled egocentric brat, in the cameo he made in the last season, we can notice his evolve, his “growing up”, and this without having followed a path in Teen Wolf, I mean that he left the series and then he come back as a mature person without the actor to actually feeling that through the character because, well, the character left the show. Showing us that he can make both, the pride brother, and the responsible one, the caring one, the mature one.
I also thought about Matthew Daddario, but I thought he was too old (38), and I realized that I wanted a younger actor, because in the book, Darrel is just 20 years old, he is really young to be anyone’s father and still, he takes care of his family with two jobs, paying the bills… But I think is really important to show that he is really young, that he is learning how to deal with the fact that he is in charge of his two little brothers, to show how unfair it is, I want the audience to empathized with him, because I really did that in the book, and giving him a young actor around the age of the character… Well, I think is a wise option.

PART II
The Crimson City has taken new shape as The Emerald City, and the booze pours like water. Of course, anyone with foresight will know even a Saint Patrick’s Day celebration can’t go untouched by at least one of the families. The drinks have made their rounds, whether that’s lounged at the bar or courtesy of the green and orange clad waiters delivering martinis on a tray. Everyone found their way to their favorite attraction—more like staggered to their favorite attraction—when the heat pooled at their toes, licked its way up their ankles. Before they knew it, their entire bodies were consumed in heat, reddening their cheeks like a sunburn in the middle of Chicago’s burning summer.
It clicked just a little too late that they had been dosed, and the rage set in before common sense. Something erupted in the crowd, volcanic and angry, and the fights broke out like they were on a schedule. It was chaos; chaos that couldn’t be contained by the police guards eyeing the perimeter to prevent an event like last time. Civilians and family members alike, everyone present, began to lose their grip on reality. Attachments were lost in the wildfire of it all, and those who looked like friends morphed into something to be feared.
The O’Shea creation, BUA, and its side effects come from equal parts LSD, methamphetamines, and cocaine, all without the floating euphoria of feeling high. It’s very capable of killing, even in small doses, and even with the likelihood that you’ll survive, the drug leaves its traces on your brain for weeks after ingestion. BUA comes in all forms, and it can be injected, snorted, and smoked, depending on the vehicle of delivery. BUA is incredibly addictive, and it’s hard enough to get a hold of that anyone who ingests the drug will deal with the aftermath of withdrawals.
Your character, for the time being, is under the influence of BUA, meaning they may act out of character and violent toward their surroundings. That includes friends, enemies, and strangers.
Part II will run from March 20th through March 23rd. For this event, we’ll be throwing characters into groups, so they may interact with whoever they’re teamed up with. You can find all of your assigned groups below. If your character is not included, please feel free to reach out to the admins, and we’ll find a place for your muse. Also please note that your character could have been drugged by drinking any drink or eating any food.
SHORT-TERM SIDE EFFECTS (2-3 HOURS):
Rapid breathing
Increased sweating (typically with accompanying chills)
Pin-sized pupils
Skin redness
Hallucinations
Extreme agitation
Violent tendencies
Obsessive tendencies
Spiking energy and heart rate
Memory loss/lack of attachment
Death
LONG TERM SIDE EFFECTS (1-2 WEEKS)
Night terrors
Fever
Increased sweating (typically with accompanying chills)
Mood swings (ranging from violent outbursts to extreme depression)
Spiking heart rate
Lethargy
Muscle pain
Paranoia
Nausea
Mental confusion
Excessive hunger or craving
Death

HSM:TM:TS 1x01 Review
The Auditions was a great series premiere for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and I’m very excited for all that’s to come. Let’s dig in!
Disney certainly got its money worth with this show. The gorgeous Utah scenery and actual on location filming really helps ground the series with a sense of realism. To that end, I really liked the little details, like the principal not wanting to spend anything on the musical, the kids social media use, and that the kids actually look like regular kids who live in regular houses and go to a regular high school
Such a talented cast! Olivia Rodrigo is a showstopper, what a wonderful rendition of Start of Something New that was and Joshua Bassett seems born to play Ricky. Sofia is an amazing dancer and I’m excited to see some of the productions they put on later in the season
Miss Jenn reminds me of April Rhodes from Glee and I mean that as a compliment. Her delivery of, ‘’that is so fresh’’ still makes me laugh. I love that she cast Ricky as Troy on a whim for maximum drama and of course she wants a Ms. Darbus song, she’s an agent of chaos and I’m here for it. I also liked her begging her mom for car loan payment money, you’re not really a millennial if you haven’t lived pay cheque to cheque at some point
Even though we’ve seen them in the trailer, Carlos’ first 15 minutes of both sequels and Broadway lines still made me chuckle
I like the glimpses we get of the kids home lives. Very refreshing to see Nini’s two moms and see that she has a mixed race family and with Andi Mack off of Disney Channel, tonight’s showing of HSMTMTS might be the last time any kind of lgbtq rep is seen on Disney Channel itself for quite a while. Her grandma looks too young to be in a nursing home but it was nice to see her helping Nini with her self-confidence. Poor Ricky with his parents marriage collapsing, that’s gonna be a tearjerker if and when his mom returns from Chicago to officially end things with his dad. Seems like Gina’s mom has high expectations of her which eventually lead to their scene we saw in the promo where Gina breaks down
We dove right into the love triangle at the heart of this season: Nicky vs NJ. As I was watching the first flashback scene between Nini and Ricky, I thought to myself that if they keep writing them scenes like this I just might become Nicky trash, I was trying to stay neutral but after Ricky’s audition I’m definitely team Ricky, that really was the #ultimatecomeback. Ricky singing ‘’I Think I Kind of You Know’’, the song Nini wrote for him was just too sweet; it warmed even my cold, black heart. And that shot of Ricky and EJ lighting Nini with their phones and forming a triangle? Poetic cinema
It really does seem like Nicky is the endgame ship with NJ just an obstacle in its path especially with Nini having been in love with Ricky just six weeks ago and only having met EJ four weeks ago. EJ is very supportive of Nini and I did like how sweet he is with her, that line about her being a cute chorus cow was great. I saw on Disney +’s twitter poll that the fandom is split about 66% team Ricky to 33% team EJ which is an interesting split but also reflects the writing tipping it’s hand, it does want us to like NJ but not at the expense of Nicky
One thing that I don’t like so far is the age gap between Olivia and Matt, she’s 16 and he’s 21 and they both look their age. I’m not saying that all teen roles need to be played by teens but that age gap is significant when they’re playing girlfriend and boyfriend and was an unforced error on the shows part. It reminds me of the problems GMW suffered by casting a much older Peyton Meyer to play Riley’s love interest. Matt Cornett’s age as well as EJ being the only senior of the main cast is another hint that he won’t be playing Nini’s love interest past this season
I do hope that however this love triangle ends that it’s done as cleanly as possible. Love triangles are rarely pulled off well because the show or movie or book will usually tip its hand fairly quickly as to which is the ‘real’ ship but they also usually end up damaging the characters involved. In this case Ricky is not just a rival for Nini’s affections but a would be homewrecker who’s set out to breakup Nini and EJ which if not handled carefully could make Ricky look like a bad guy
As an aside, Nini having a shirtless photo of EJ on her phone and her and Ricky hanging out alone in her bedroom in the flashback is spicy for Disney but does at least gesture more to the reality of teen life than the typical squeaky clean Disney fare
Carlos is the colour guard captain, that was in the original casting notice (back when Carlos was named Vikram) and Tim Federle mentioned in an interview that he based Carlos off of one of his best friends who was also a colour guard captain. I’ve been wondering for a couple of weeks now if Frankie Rodriguez was actually allowed to reveal that Carlos is gay because it hasn’t been talked about in interviews or mentioned in any reviews so far. His line about EJ not knowing who he is, seems like it could potentially be set up for an arc about Carlos trying to make himself known. He knew that Seb wanted to try out for Sharpay rather than Ryan so presumably he already knows him? We know that something is being teased between him and Seb but I won’t hold my breathe for getting very much from Disney, at least this season
Not much to say about the other characters so far. Kourtney is barely a step above the sassy black friend trope but I think some of it has to due with the fact that Tim Federle originally just wanted Kourtney to be a one off supportive friend for Nini but so liked the actress that he decided to make her a main. Ashlyn is supposed to have a powerful duet with Nini in the second ep so that is something to look forward to as is her relationship with her cousin EJ. Big Red is a nice supportive friend and that’s about it. Not much to Mr. Mazara either. It does seem like the dividing line between major and lesser main characters are those who have lead roles in the musical itself
I love that the mockumentary interviews happen even when they make absolutely no sense in universe
We get some full character names from the cast list: Seb Matthew- Smith, Ricky Bowen, EJ Caswell, Gina Porter, and Nini Salazar-Roberts
Looking Ahead:
I read in reviews that EJ teams up with Gina to take down Ricky while Gina tries to take down Nini. That’s a pretty easy path to villainize EJ and sink NJ eventually while then using EJ’s panic attacks and Gina’s story line with her mom to build them back up. I sincerely hope that they don’t even try to go for one sided Gina and EJ as Sofia is the youngest cast member
Sofia did say that Gina would make things complicated for the love triangle and in a promo clip she said she was ‘intrigued’ by Ricky so we’ll see what happens
Miss Jenn supposedly left New York in unclear circumstances so I wonder where they’ll go with that. My own theory is that she used to be an extra on Law and Order: SVU and was having a torrid affair with Dan Florek before being exposed
I’ll try to have these reviews up Friday evenings but that’s dependent on when I can watch the eps. Because the pilot aired on tv we’ll actually get ratings either Monday or Tuesday which will be the only time we’ll get publicly released data otherwise all we’ll get is what Disney wants us to know and that will often just be spin. I’m very excited for this season and for season two and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead. Until next week wildcats

Anyone but her please
Apparently tangled is slated to be remade. And I’m begging you. No matter how far into her colon you are DO NOT CAST THE BOTTLE BLONDE! Knowing her she’ll probably rope the other one into it as Eugene. And. I really don’t want that. I can just about stand looking at her in descendants and that’s mostly because of the wig and colour scheme. That and I vastly prefer Mitchell et al better then her. And I’m rapidly getting tired of the other one. So i am NOT gonna be happy if she’s Rapunzel to say the least. Instead. Sabrina Carpenter as Rapunzel. And say. Peyton Meyer as Eugene. They already have chemistry. They still look relatively young. And Sabrina can sing. If she has to be in it. Then peroxide can be old Gothel. Or one of the casualties. He should have absolutely no part in it though. Whatsoever. Neither are suited for either role of Rapunzel or Eugene. Just. Sabrina and Peyton. Please?

A Giant Masterlist of Alternative/Age-Appropriate FCs for TVD/TO Characters
So, I’m finally making this into a huge masterlist, because I do feel like this is something that could be taken more seriously than it is. There has been an epidemic in Hollywood for a long, long time of teenage characters being played by adults. I mean, look at the epitome of a teen movie: Grease. At the time the film was being made, the average age of the cast was about thirty, and they looked it.
Logistically, this makes sense on a film set. Casting adults means that you don’t have the punctuated work day you have to have with minors, and there are fewer caveats for what the actors can do. From a logistic standpoint, a financial standpoint, and a liability standpoint, I get it. I do.
But the nice thing about RPing is that we can change the FCs of the muses we are working with to be more appropriate. You see this all the time with muns choosing to bring in more diversity to roles, or just “not feeling” certain actors. This masterlist is if you as a mun want to make your muse more age-appropriate.
Most of these actors and actresses recommended are still over the age of 18, but are still far closer in age than the original actor who portrayed the character.
I have bolded the age of characters who started as minors or who are eternally, physically, minors. Please keep these characters in mind when portraying them, choosing to write more adult themes, and any other decisions you may make about these characters.
If I have missed a character on here and you would like to hear suggestions for them, or if you want to add to the list of suggestions, please let me know!
*** Also, some FCs are listed as being appropriate recasts for multiple muses. Since this is RP we’re talking about, and not the logistics of “the same actor can’t be different characters in an actual project,” this is possible.
******* I don’t have the time or the wherewithal to dig up dirt on every single actor and actress. This list is looking solely at age, and honestly, I don’t know every “scandal” there is. If you see an actor or actress on here who you do not like, please disregard the suggestion. *******
*********** If you see someone who you think could be more appropriate for another character, go for it! These are all actors who are either still very young, or who have extensive young resources. ************

?Ideal? MCU Young Avengers Line-Up and Casting
Hawkeye/Kate Bishop
Kate Bishop has always been one of my favorite of the Young Avengers and it’s really hard for me to come up with casting. I think I’m kind of leaning towards one of the following three: Diana Silvers, Lulu Antariksa, or Seychelle Gabriel. I know the first two can do both the sort of stuck-up/full of themselves front that Kate could sometimes have especially early on and can also do that sort of awkward dorky attitude that she let through when she was hanging out with Clint or went off on her own in her own series and Seychelle Gabriel can at least voice that cool confident and intelligent side...I’ll admit that I’ve never seen her in live action and also, despite the fact that she still looks like a teenager, she is a bit older than almost everyone else on this list.
So: Diana Silvers or Lulu Antariksa or Seychelle Gabriel
Hulkling/Teddy Altman
Peyton Meyer. I haven’t seen him since he was on Girl Meets World three year ago when he was like seventeen or eighteen (if I’m doing my math right), but he could do the sweet and he could do the goofy and he could do the intense and he could switch at the drop of a cowboy hat and he’s cute as well. I think he’d make a swell Teddy Altman.
Alternatively, I considered Charles Melton. I’ve seen him do all of the above and the only reasons I put Peyton Meyer above him are that 1)Peyton Meyer would be a little more comic accurate in looks and 2)Charles Melton is almost 30 and most of the rest of this cast is closer to late teens to early twenties.
So: Peyton Meyer or Charles Melton
Wiccan/Billy Kaplan and Speed/Tommy Shepherd
This one basically took the longest because I was trying to get the same actor to be both Billy and Tommy for the simple fact that I think I remember this one scene when Tommy was first introduced where someone (Kate. I think edit: I looked it up. It was actually Cassie.) immediately took him for Billy. I can definitely see Charlie Rowe playing Billy Kaplan and at a stretch he might be able to build up enough manic energy to play Tommy as well. I also played around with having a gender swapped Tommy (the original twins were Pietro and Wanda anyway so) and considered Ivanna Sakhno because she can definitely pull off that arrogance that early Tommy has and when Pacific Rim: Uprising (not where I’ve seen her) came out everyone was saying she looked like a cross between Elizabeth Olsen (mom!!) and Scarlett Johansson(less relevant to this pick). And since the Maximoff twins weren’t exactly identical in the MCU and our Young Avenger twins weren’t even really born to the same family so why couldn’t they be born in different countries, I could keep Charlie Rowe as Billy.
So:Charlie Rowe or Charlie Rowe and Ivanna Sakhno
Stature/Cassie Lang
Endgame already cast a teenage Cassie Lang and, while we didn’t get to see her do much, Emma Fuhrmann did pretty well with what there was. Ideally, I kind of would have liked to wait until Abby Ryder Fortson was old enough, because I loved her in the first two Ant-Man movies, but I think either way would be good.
So: Emma Fuhrmann or Abby Ryder Forston
Ms. America/America Chavez
This one was hard. I finally settled on Adria Arjona. I played with Becky G, but finally decided that she was kind of flat in Power Rangers. Adria Arjona can do play tough without playing flat and she can also go soft or playful. The fact that Adria Arjona is another one of my picks who is slightly older than the others actually feels okay to me as she’s not that much older and for some reason America Chavez always read a little older to me. Probably because I’m more familiar with her from her time in Young Avengers or even later (when she was a college student) whereas most of the rest of the cast I remember from their teen origins more than anything.
So: Adria Arjona
Spider-Girl/Anya Corazon
I didn’t think I would say this before September 10 2020, but I think Jenna Ortega would actually make a good Spider-Girl. I had only ever seen her while flipping past Disney Channel, but I recently watched her in The Babysitter: Killer Queen and she pulled off all of the things you need for a good Spider-folk, she had the tough, she had the vulnerable, she had the quip, and she had the wtf is going on. I think she would be a fine addition. And for all of you going “But Spider-Girl was never a member of the Young Avengers!”, I say that she was apparently on the Avengers Fail-Safe Program list, so why not make her a Young Avenger?
So: Jenna Ortega
X-23/Laura Kinney
I don’t care that the old X-Men Cinematic Universe is not only seperate, but is going bye-bye. Just bring back Dafne Keene or, failing that, cast Esme Creed-Miles...Hanna has always been a rip-off of the X-23 backstory anyway. And like Spider-Girl, she is apparently on the Avengers Fail-Safe Program List, so why not make her a Young Avenger?
So: Dafne Keene or Esme Creed-Miles
Iron Lad/Vision/Nathaniel Richards
This one actually surprised me, but I think Dylan Sprayberry could do a good job at this role. For those of you who don’t know him from Teen Wolf, you might recognize him as teenage Clark Kent from Man of Steel and if you squint he plays a young Matt Bomer in one episode of Glee. From what I’ve seen, he tends to play characters that straddle the line between I don’t want to be a monster, but I have so much anger and a dangerous possible outlet, but I can’t do anything about it. I think this would be perfect for the Iron Lad half of the role if not the Vision half of the role, but I think he could probably handle that as well.
So: Dylan Sprayberry
Cloak/Tyrone Johnson and Dagger/Tandy Bowen
I just want Cloak and Dagger back so obviously this is going to be Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt. To be fair to these two and the next one on the list, they may not have been members of the Young Avengers in the comics, but they were members of The Ultimate Marvel equivalent and the show’s backstory for them was actually a lot closer to the Ultimate backstory anyway.
So: Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt
Bombshell/Lana Baumgartner
Honestly part of this is me wanting to work another Young Ultimate on to the team and also wanting to see more with Thomasin McKenzie, but seriously...did you see her intensity in Jojo Rabbit and then she would turn around and be goofy and that second part doesn’t exactly scream Bombshell, but it would be a good way to keep that tension between “she is totally one of us” and “she is completely her mother’s daughter.
So: Thomasin McKenzie
Sister Grimm/Nico Minoru and Lucy in the Sky/Karolina Dean
Much like with Cloak and Dagger, I basically miss The Runaways and there was a Marvel What If? where The Runaways were the Young Avengers. I didn’t feel like I could just put the entirety of The Runaways cast on this list, so I put my favorite (both from the comics and the show) and then I put my favorite’s wife (who also happens to be my second favorite from the comics and the show) because there was no way I was going to separate them.
So: Lyrica Okano and Ginny Gardner
Bonus
If we wanted to go the alternate origin route and have Kid Loki bring them together...
Kid Loki/Teen Loki:
I think a good Kid Loki would be Asa Butterfield. He is a teenager now, but he’s still got that soft kid look and he can do both sweet and if you remember his glare from when he was a fetus on Merlin, he can do the whole dark thing too. Alternatively, we could go with the slightly older slightly more suave Teenish Loki (I miss Agent of Asgard so much) and (as much as I hate to say this)Timothée Chalamet would probably do a decent job. I’ve only seen him in Little Women, but he’s got the look and he was able to do nice/playful and angry/cutting and those are both a must for any Loki. Alternatively, Teenish Lady Loki would work for Julia Goldani Telles. She’s kept up on two Amy Sherman Palladino shows and she did both snarky and vulnerable (sometimes at the same time) on one of them. Of course, this being Loki, we could have both Chalamet and Goldani Telles switching off between shots. I love Loki: Agent of Asgard sooo much.
So: Asa Butterfield or Timothée Chalamet and/or Julia Goldani Telles
