1: fair point. I'll be real we kinda forgot that horses and deer (probably?) don't have the same kind of stomach. For the record, I am on book 12.5 aka Andalite Chronicles, so I couldn't be sure if we'd ever see them digest anything else than grass. But i was kinda thrown off by the whole Dr. Pepper thing, because I kinda...don't think that'd be easily digestible for a deer-adjacent stomach? So my friends and I thought that maybe in terms of digestion, their stomachs can digest at least some things that a human stomach could? But so far it's kinda unclear and honestly I doubt the books will ever tell my friends and me which exact liquids Andalites are capable of digesting. Which is sad. Because it means we cannot shitpost accurately.

2: Well, the slugs mentioned are all Yeerks. The specific Mindflayer mentioned is Emperor from Baldur's Gate 3. And the fungal hivemind is Mr. Gray from Dreamcatcher, a sci-fi psychological horror novel by Stephen King. So far I have managed to convince four (4) separate people to read or listen to it and you will be the fifth.

The novel is itself very un-King-like. I do not like most novels written by Stephen King, his short stories are fine, but the longer books tend to...well they just aren't my style most of the time. The ones I like are on the shorter side (Carrie and Langoliers). Enter Dreamcatcher: Dreamcatcher has some 500-600 pages and was written while King was suffering from a stomach flu, no doubt in horrible fevers, and it shows in the most positive way possible. Somehow, the stomach flu that was plaguing Stephen King must have altered his brain chemistry and forces unknown compelled him to write a book that is not as much about what is actually happening in the physical realm as it is about what is happening on a psychological level.

Contrary to the fact that I am reading Animorphs, aliens are usually not really my thing. I don't really care for sci-fi most of the time and alien invasions don't exactly inspire joy in me. It's just not my daily cup of espresso. But, you see, Dreamcatcher has a movie adaptation (it is not technically awful, the acting is great, but it adapts only the surface level plot and lacks all of the philosophical theme. HOWEVER. I do recommend watching it after reading the book simply because the guy who plays Gray/Jonesy does such a fantastic job at playing an unimaginably unsettling alien existence. Not sure about his voice because I've only ever seen the movie in Czech and our VA did a phenomenal job ngl. Oh also the movie adaptation sees it fit to change the ending, which is good, but it also adds an extremely ableist plot twist for no reason. Just a warning.) and I watched it a few years ago. I thought "Hm, there is an interesting concept here, I wonder if the book expands upon this." The book did not expand upon the specific concept, but, you see, I was expecting a mildly engaging sci-fi story about an alien invasion.

Dear tumblr user @xeno-bio-sociology , that is not what I got. No. I mean, yes, that DOES happen as well, but it far from the main plot of the story. Yes, there is an alien invasion. Yes, the US military are a bunch of dicks. Yes, there is a religious fanatic (in true Stephen King fashion). Yes, there is the usual weird bullshit Stephen King cannot help but write even when (presumably) dying in 40 degree Celsius fevers, such as incredibly weird random horny thoughts the characters get. BUT there is also deeply intriguing psychological warfare. There is the question of identity. Of mortality. Much of the book takes place in the characters' heads. Well, in some more than others. Mild spoiler: There is a character, one of the main cast, whose head will become the stage of much of the book's real plot, and that is all simply because this member of the cast gets infected by the alien fungal hivemind. But, very soon, we need to ask ourselves questions such as: What does it mean for a hivemind when all of its components but one die? What when a hive becomes an individual? What does it even mean to be an individual? Is someone more of an individual than someone else? Do you want to be an individual? Do you have a say in that? Do you have a say in who you are? Do you have a say in how you die? What does it mean to die? Well, what does it even mean to live? What does it mean to live as a person? What is a person? Is it horror not to be one? What if it's horror to be a person? In your nightmares, do you look into a mirror and see a beast and then wake up screaming? What if there is nothing special about that, what if humanity is the horrifying abominable-looking monster in someone else's nightmare? And what does it even mean to have a nightmare or to dream (in every sense of the word)?

Anyway sorry about that I just love Dreamcatcher. Except for like 5 sentences at the end that ruin the entire story. Ignore those 5 sentences. You'll know them when you see them. Here's a Google Drive link to the PDF and the audiobook. Good luck.

Rhett wakes up with the sun streaming through the window and a solid body right next to him. He frowns. If Sutter was still in bed when Rhett woke up and not up and at 'em, having done a million things already, then that could only mean—

"Ah shit," Rhett grumbles, voice still thick with sleep as he leans over and presses his lips to his boyfriends forehead. He knew it would be burning, but he had to check anyway. "c'mon, Buck, gotta get up and get that fever down."

He lets Sutter get up slowly, heading into the bathroom to start running a tub full of cool water. Then, he comes back and slowly peels the clothes off his boyfriend, whose body has somehow transformed into a human-shaped bowl of jelly.

"I don't feel good," Sutter whimpers, and Rhett feels his heart break at the way the other man's voice cracks with how sore his throat must be.

"I know, darlin', gonna feel a whole lot better in'a cool bath, promise you." Rhett picks Sutter up, carrying him to the bathroom without even checking if he could walk for himself. He slowly lowers his boyfriend into the water, and only then does he turn off the tap.

No sooner did Sutter's naked body sink into the water, than did he start to gag over the side of the tub, water sloshing and chest heaving while Rhett muttered curses under his breath and fumbled for the trash can.

"I want my mom," Sutter whimpers, and Rhett can't help the slightly cruel chuckle that slips out.

"You're only sayin' that, 'cuz yer sick. Trust me, you do not want your mama here." It was the truth, and they both knew it. Even Rhett sometimes wished for his mom to come when he was under the weather, but it was never worth the hassle it brought.

After Rhett was sure that Sutter's fever was down, at least to a more manageable level, he picked out the most comfy clothes either of them owned and set up a little space on the couch. His one mistake was giving a popsicle over in an attempt to help soothe Sutter's raw throat; he couldn't pull his eyes away, watching the red, frozen treat disappear and then reappear out of the other man's mouth.

Sutter's sick, don't think about him sucking your dick, he's sick, don't think about him sucking your dick, he's sick don't think about— ah, fuck it.

"I'm gonna go... take a shower," Rhett says finally, jerking his head toward the bathroom.

Sutter looks up from his dripping popsicle, eyebrows furrowing together. "You're gonna leave me?"

But Sutter doesn't miss the way that Rhett's eyes keep flicking from his mouth to his popsicle or the fact that his jeans look just a little bit more filled out than they had previously. They're both laughing now, giggling really, the way that two grown, rough and tumble cowboys only let themselves giggle around each other and with each laugh, they seem to gravitate toward each other until Rhett's forehead is pressed against Sutter's, healthy against sick. Maybe sick against sick.

I wanna know your thoughts on something… You’ve said to not copy&paste the same requests to different authors and I have to say that I’m guilty of doing that 😅 But also basically no one wants to take the requests I’ve sent so by sending them to different people I hoped my chances where bigger. And now I kinda don’t know what to do, because I’m a shitty writer since English is not my first language but also I have SO SO SO many ideas and would love to see them come to life :( Do you know what I mean?

hi hi ! first of all -- thanks so much for actually reaching out to ask about this! and i want u to know that most (if not all) writers appreciate and love any kind of request -- i think the thing that irks specifically about copy-pasted requests is that (and i know this might not be the intention?) it feels like you don't care who writes the idea so long as it's written by someone, right.

and i don't think any writer wants to feel like they're just a text generator or an ai bot that you can kind of plug any request into and they'll write it?? if that makes sense?

in terms of what to do -- i think there's a good few layers to this:

if it seems like no one is writing your requests, consider if the req is too perhaps too vague? or maybe its too specific? for me, personally, i like reqs that aren't huge paragraphs long bc then it kind of feels like you've already written the fic in my askbox, if you know what i mean? LOL but then again, i know some writers who really like that kind of specificity ! so it just depends on the writer.

there are plenty of writers who don't have english as their first language!!! it doesn't stop them from writing or being writers!!! haha if you've got an idea and you wanna put into the world, then do it! all it takes is practice! and who knows, you might find that you really love writing!

when i go through my requests, i'm always more inspired by the ones that make it clear that the requester is at least somewhat of an active reader of my fics? if that makes sense? like for instance, i'm a lot more likely to write/answer a req that's like about college roommate!vi or like carmech!vi or hockey!vi x figure skater!reader bc a) those are au's that i've written so i'm more invested in them already and b) it means the person requesting has read and liked one or more of those things and wants to see more of it!

but that doesn't mean you've always gotta request like extensions of stuff that ppl have written (i know some ppl dont like being asked for pt2s either) but if a req says something like "i feel like you'd be really into this concept" or like "this idea reminds me of ur writing" or something like that where it's just obvious that the person on the other end is asking you specifically because they like your writing

i think the biggest point in all this is: treat your writers like you would treat your friends! imagine if u got a text that's asking specifically u to go out and have dinner and u think that it's just gonna be u and ur friend, and you get all nice and dressed and are very excited to catch up with this friend, and then you get to dinner, and there's like 4 other ppl there who might or might not be friends with you too? and when ur like "hey what gives" ur friend is like "oh i just wanted to have dinner tonight, i didn't care with who!" like... that doesn't make u feel good ukno?

you could also try making just like a bullet-point list of ideas and putting it in the character x reader tag and just be like 'hey writers !! i have these ideas and they're up for adoption!!!' or something like that, and see if anyone takes you up on it! just make it clear that you're putting the ideas out into the world and that you'd love it if someone could write them!

i hope that kind of explains where at least i as a writer is coming from! and that some of those suggestions help!! pls feel free to come chat more about it if you want! :)

I really really want to like this game I really do but everytime I play this game I can't get through it because the arts are so UGLY 😭

So, there are these words, at the top of OLiE's game page that read: "I'm new to coding/writing/gui design and I'm not a professional artist at all, this is my first ever project/visual novel. It's just for fun and free."

It means: The quality won't be amazing since I'm no professional and I'm just doing this for my own enjoyment, in my spare time.

OLiE is not my job. I've already got one of those. I'm just someone having fun drawing their OCs and writing their silly little stories. You're welcome to have fun too, or the exit is right there!

I'm never happy with my art, but I'm also the only person making the art/story/gui/code/ect. The story is pretty big, so when I sit on a cg/bg/sprite for too long, I just have to move on, or I won't ever finish this project. When my art quality improves to a point that I'm happy with, I plan to go back to art I personally don't feel was good enough. Until then, you just gotta suck it up or go away lmao.

This was shitty of you to send into my askbox btw. I am already really hard on myself about my art, but I still want to create something, even if it's not perfect. Hopefully someday you can grow as a person, you big spoilt baby.

i’ve been a fan of tbbw since the very early days of the original version and i must say i do kind of enjoy seeing the new readers pop up in your askbox with questions. it’s fun seeing other people discover it for the first time. like yes welcome aboard we love it here you’re in for quite a treat! it makes me remember how fun it was reading it for the first time

It's so nice! Many new readers won't know this, but TBBW was actually first posted in January 2021. And then the original version of The Little Wolf was actually written even before that, in 2020.

It took me roughly 3 years to write the OG version, (about 375k, 35 chapters). The rewrite of TBBW was started in January 2024 (50 chapters), so I've written about 525k+ in around a year and a half. And once we hit the 50 chapter mark, that's still only halfway through the full fic. I've still gotta write the next half (actually considering splitting TBBW into two fics, but we'll see).

It's so weird seeing how much its changed since I first started! Originally, I remember thinking it was going to be about 20 chapters. I wasn't really sure where I was going with it. The entire story arc from about chapter 31 to chapter 50 wasn't planned. Originally it was less of a canon rewrite, and more of a canon divergence, with mutliple time skips planned in to get to the point in s4 I wanted to.

I was reading some of the OG chapters the other night because I'm still rewriting the chapters coming up, and it feels like a different person wrote them. Which is WILD, because those chapters I was reading are only a year or two old. It's not that long ago. But my writing style and this fic as a whole has changed so much I just don't recognise my own writing. It's great, seeing how much you've learnt and changed. Some people might say it's a long time to spend on one project... but I've never written for anyone else. I just do this for fun. It gives me the same reward as if I was gaming or watching TV---I enjoy it. Just another little hobby. It's great.

hello my friend rob!! once again back in your askbox to figure out what i should watch next. im thinking about going back to sentai for a second, and im between toqger and zenkaiger, and i think you like both of those (i know you love toqger) so i come for your wisdom once again. appreciate you!!

ahhh i gotta go with toqger, that's been one of my top go-to sentai recs for over a decade now. the main team is just so sweet and endearing, and the overarching plot is a lot more engaging than you'd expect just looking at the show's aesthetics. it was the final mainline show written by kobayashi (longtime sentai and kr writer), and that experience really shines through in how well crafted toq is

i'd definitely say zenkai is worth a watch too, but im actually more lukewarm on it than most? it's a very pure love letter to super sentai and goes all in on the Shenanigans, but also forgoes typical character focus episodes in favor of those shenanigans in a way that left me wanting more from most of the cast not named stacey (i DO love stacey for the record. we all do.), particularly the robots. so it's not necessarily a must-watch for me, but it's beloved for good reason and a delightful watch either way. important to note that i know you would absolutely love magine, pink girlie of all time

Hihi! Started (and finished) reading 2Gigaheartz today and duuuude. Words cannot express my love for this fic. I've left like a hell of a ton of comments but I need you to understand that my brain chemistry has been changed permanently, so I'm hopping over to Tumblr too. I love everything about this, from the writing style, to the obstacles the characters are facing (esp Impulse's overthinking. I'm sure we could all relate to that), right down to that morse code barrier that translates to the title of the fic (about that - I think it's cause of the platform you use to write, but when you put down two dashes it converts it into one long dash, which disrupts the code a little bit. But it's still a really neat Easter egg! :D)

Also just wanted to say that you've singlehandedly gotten me into Skizzpulse. So. Thank you author for blessing me with this fic.
