I think I had poked around at a couple of the settings before, but this was the first time I took a Proper Gpose, in March 2020.

Compared with tonight in December 2024:

...gods, where do I even start for the differences lol.

switched jobs, going from wanting to heal to bulking up and taking on martial jobs like dark knight, monk, and viper

like actually bulking up, her customize+ scaling looks so natural to me now that skinny peeled Ellie looks so off lol. it's not a huge difference but it's noticeable.

found out how to give her muscle, those arm dragon tattoos, an Archon mark, and arm/leg hair. the tattoos were a joke at first because it's year of the dragon and i'm a dragon in the chinese zodiac, but errrr oops i'm too used to them now. and they look sick.

her highlights changed to black (with a swerve into white for ShB), her facemark changed to match her hair color, and some of her face shapes were different, but she was always face 2 with this skintone and hair color. really nailed that right off the bat.

she was just my avatar in this online RPG back then. it'd take a year or two, probably after beating 5.3, when I'd start thinking about her as an actual character. And now I have an idea of how much she's grown, how much she's lost, what she's gained, how many women she's managed to smooch--

she's on tumblr now, which has also been a great way to meet so many cool wols and their amazing players and i'll forever be grateful for those opportunities and the friends i've made. <3

Deimos and Phobos

The originals, the start of it all! During the Final Days in looking for a solution that would prevent more death and sacrifice Deimos became overwhelmed and devised a bit of a crazy plan he wasn't even sure would work. Deimos growing up had heterochromia, knowing it was one of his eyes having just slightly different DNA he took a page out of his old mentor Lahabrea's book and tried to see if he too could split himself in two. The difference in being able to keep a full soul and full power laid in Deimos making the basis on that small piece of different DNA, and so was Phobos brought into fruition!

Demos Reyes and Siberite Akagane (The Source)

The WoLs and the ones to avert the Final Days, the promised kept to one Emet-Selch made thousands of year earlier. The two couldn't get a long at first but over time and through many trials they found common ground and supported one another and developed a kinship that goes beyond friendship. With the Final Days averted the two are living out a version of what their past selves would have done, with Demos settling down and leading a more quiet life, with the occasional adventure, and with Siberite exploring the world with all it has to offer and helping those met along the way with no sign of stopping.

Unnamed Archeologist and Ardbert (The First)

"There was a man. A researcher who pored over these pieces. He offered us work when we needed it. Slaying beasts, delivering provisions... A funny old bugger, he was, but he had a good heart. Golbez and Durante (The Thirteenth)

Two friends trying to save their world from impending darkness, were unsuccessful in their endeavor resulting in one having to kill the other. With his best friend dead and the world still falling apart Durante took up Golbez's armor and name in the hopes of being able to eventually free his home from the cycle of darkness that befell the land. His methods would prove destructive and nearly be the end of him, had he not been reminded of the friendship that he once had. This pair shows just what can happen when one loses the other after having met and forged a bond, their souls don't like be parted in that way and will lash out in line with who they are in that life.

Clive Rosfield and Midadol "Mid" Telamon (Valisthea)

Both souls on their first lives in their world Clive and Mid met for the first time not long after her father's death and since then she's been whirlwind of a friend to Clive. A prodigy engineer Mid created The Enterprise to initially be a last resort for escaping the Blight, but seeing all that Clive had done so far to stop that from happening put him in charge of the vessel and did everything in her power to help him save their world. While neither know that they share the same soul Clive can't help but be reminded of Siberite, the au ra he met while on a different world, when Mid is teasing him or speaking from the heart, while Mid always felt an instant connection to and faith in the man that made it feel like they had been friends since children and not just the five years. There is only two people that know of them having the same soul in this world and that is Barnabas and Ultima, the two using it to their advantage to get Clive to Kanver.

What's your favorite villain in the game and why?

This was hard to think about bc I’m forgetful and there’s a lot of content in the game lol. But I’ve liked quite a few of the villains in the game! One of the ones that sticks out in my brain rn since I am currently bringing ShB to a close is Ran'jit. I think not a lot of people like this character, but I really loved his design and I think I just liked how duty bound and heartless he was? There are many other very good villains in ShB and throughout the game though. I just want to voice my love for the bastard lol

Top 3 classes you enjoy playing?

Paladin is my #1, I started with it! In MMOs, I greatly enjoy playing tank type classes that can take a hit. Paladins in general are an aesthetic I love a lot, be it in DnD or games or just like real life knights.

Samurai is #2, it’s just so easy now that I’ve played it so much. Also, I really love the aesthetic! I have always been interested in single sword style swordplay, like traditional samurai. It’s very elegant in the game!

#3 is a toss up that changes once in a while, but I think I currently enjoy Pictomancer! I’m not huge on casting classes because I’m impatient and don’t want to take the time to cast much, but the aesthetic for Pictomancer is adorable. The FX and sound design for the class make it that much more satisfying.

What you'd want to change the most about a class and why?

I’m not very good with designing the mechanics in games to be fully balanced, if I’ve learned anything from my actual game dev experience LOL. But I could complain about my experiences in frontlines and how certain classes and maps could be balanced better to be fairly and less painful to play. PvE and PvP are very different beasts and I feel like it’s more obvious to break down the mechanics of classes in PvP. 

That being said, DRK combos with other AOEs make me stop playing lmfao

Favorite non-FF14 video game?

I’m huge on video games but also don’t have a lot of time to play them. I’m a happy victim of gatcha games like Genshin and Star Rail, starting off is addiction with ye ol Fate/GO. But I grew up with Nintendo games mostly, so Zelda, Kirby, Metroid, etc. I like my fair share of different genres and gameplay styles: FPS, RPG, TCG, etc. 

I’m just rambling about this huh. Uh… I don’t know if I can label just one favorite, but I guess the most time I spend nowadays in a game other than FFXVI would be Star Rail? I am trying to get MH:World finished before Wilds comes out, but again, not much time!

FF14 hot take? (The more scalding the better)

OH uh… Odd that this might be a hot take, but I think Stormblood is a good expansion and my favorite trio in the game so far was introduced during it! (Hien, Gosetsu, Yugiri) And I love every piece of new culture and location in this expansion! Learning about the different cultures of Au Ra especially, both Raen and Xaela. The only thing I hate about it is the aether currents...

Favorite piece of FF14 content? (Dungeon/trial/raid/etc)

Can I say GPOSE? LOL. I really enjoy trials, I think. Something about the gameplay of fighting a single boss can be a lot of fun and figuring out the mechanics- especially with friends in your ears- is really fun!

Favorite FF14 song?

Papaya. Maybe… Gates of the Moon? There’s a LOT of good music in the whole game!

Random Lili Headcanons

So I’m still so shocked at how well the Lili x Krile gposes were received!! I’m going to take a chunk of it as Krile hype (and rightfully so! Krile has been sidelined for far too long!), but I’m very happy that y’all seem to be curious about Lili as well! I’m still ironing out the details enough to write up a full profile (and I might make Lili her own sideblog for organizational purposes, but I haven’t decided yet), but I figured it was time to share some of my initial headcanons for her and where I think I’ll go with her story. This will be a random list of things that just pop into my head, so I apologize if I start to ramble a bit.

Lili is the name she likes to be called, but her full name is Lilika Lika, and it’s not only a canon compliment Dunesfolk name (unlike Hali, heh), but it’s also my little nod to Final Fantasy X, because I think it sounds similar to Kilika Island.

Lili’s pronouns are She/Her, she is cisgender, and a lesbian. She has had relations with men in her past when she was finding herself, but she came out as a lesbian when she was 20 years old.

She was born in Ul’dah and she is actually the distant cousin of Hali! Lili met Hali when Hali first arrived in Eorzea and looked up information on Nanani’s family (Nanani is Hali’s grandmother and Lili’s great aunt who left Ul’dah to marry her husband and live in Sharlayan).

Lili is descended from a prominent family whose members almost always become involved in the Order of Nald’thal, with many members also joining the Thaumaturge Guild. Lili tried her hand at Thaumaturgy but she found herself woefully unskilled in magic. Instead, she joined the Pugilist Guild and eventually trained in the techniques of the Ala Mhigan Monk.

I plan on Lili’s main canon job to be Monk from ARR-EW, but perhaps she trained briefly as a Samurai before she takes up the twin blades of a Viper for Dawntrail.

Unlike Hali who never believed in any forms of religion and only understands religion in an academic sense as a Sharlayan, Lili does believe in the Twelve and has her faith shaken by the events of the MSQ and of course the events of the Myths of the Realm raid series.

Lili has had several casual relationships, including a brief fling with Tataru during ARR and HW, but she never had any serious romantic feelings about someone until she met Krile.

I’m still working out a timeline of the Lili x Krile ship right now, but I’m thinking about them confessing their feelings and officially being in an exclusive relationship around Post ShB to Pre EW. Sometime in the 5.3-5.55 range. They get together before Hali and Aymeric do at least.

Lili is represented by opposing symbolism to Hali, and they are a duality of forces. Hali’s symbols are water, ice, darkness, night, stars, spring, etc. whereas Lili’s symbols are fire, light, day, sun, autumn, etc. Hali is a magic user and Lili is a melee fighter. Hali is extroverted and highly emotional while Lili is introverted, practical, and usually in control of her emotions.

I feel like posting some pictures I've taken in FFXIV. But not the good shit. OLD stuff, before I knew what the hell I was doing.

When I first started, I found gpose intimidating, so most of my early screenshots are of my boys in cutscenes. I still take a fuckton of those, a leftover habit from when I used to write Let's Plays, particularly my LPs of SWTOR. This is the first non-cutscene picture in my folder that I think is worth looking at. You can tell it's old because Tiny Estinien is in it, rather than Duck.

THIS one you can tell is old because it's an old AST animation that died when ShB arrived. I know there are people who like current AST. I know there are people who liked ShB AST. But I haven't liked the class since Stormblood. I loved the SB version of AST, and I doubt they'll ever recapture the magic for me, which is a little sad. I'm willing to be proven wrong, of course, fingers crossed for whatever 7.0 brings.

It took me forever to even notice the lighting controls, and I had basically no eye for photography, so a lot of my early gpose experiments are poorly lit and have shaky composition. But I can't bring myself to get rid of them. They're HISTORY.

I did enjoy seeing exactly how silly dragoons are while messing around with gpose, though. I wish I was better at the class (it's too clunky) because it's exactly the sort of awkwardly endearing vibe I think Dusk carries in general.

Seriously, I just did not mess with lighting at all at first. Which is funny, since lighting is one of my nominal skills. I spent years as a theatrical electrician, I whine about having to work with only three points of light I can't change the angle on constantly. But during the early times? Whatever the lighting happened to be, is what my gpose got lit with.

I think another reason why I keep these is because I can look at them and see all the ways I'd do it better now, and be pleased by my progress. I wavered on if I should show them at all, but you know what? So many people find gpose intimidating. They see people's amazing shit (and there's so much amazing shit!) and think they can't do it. I get complimented on my gpose work now, I know I'm pretty okay. So I want to show I didn't burst forth good at it. I have a lot of awkward shit in my folders!

And even with all the awkward, I have some nice stuff from my first year in FFXIV that I like the look of, even if I wouldn't do it that way now.

..i don really have any updates, i've not done much more msq. though so far Endwalker in between has been interesting. Zero is pretty neat, and honestly endearing, watching ?her? slowly come to understand what humans are all about. from their confusion with food, to admitting their own inability to understand the concept of a good time.. its been fun, watching ?her? come to feel as a comrade adn not just one end of a bargain.

this goal is months in the making but I'm getting closer everyday..

current milestone is getting White Mage to 80, it hit 70 today which means I'm roughly 3/4 of the way there to getting my Amaro mount for getting all SHB jobs to 80. having only the little bit left on WHM, PLD, 60-80 on GNB and DRK. then its literally just the melee's. god I'm fucking miserable playing them..

Part 2 of my main through the ages! (Part 1 here) Last we left off, I was a very hot, very tall Roe (I have some very absurd MSQ cutscene screenshots). Next up...

Fem Au Ra! (Aug 2021). I made her as short as possible, which was very fun after being as tall as possible. I did an entire replay of ARR, HW, SB, and ShB with her. And I played EdW with her, I completely forgot that. (To be fair, I was under a lot of stress + pandemic stress, so my memory of that time is pretty shot).

And then I wanted to play the very pretty Viera! (June 2022). I liked her, but probably wouldn't go back.

I went back to fem highlander sometime in early 2023. I wasn't playing the game much around this time. I was doing big fishing and I have a lot of fishing screenshots.

I went back to m miqo for a few months before Dawntrail came out. I don't really have any screenshots, it's the same catboy as last time. Then DT came out and I fanta'd to fem hrothgar! (and got an ultrawide). I played through all of DT with her, but ultimately didn't enjoy fem hroth.

So I switched to fem Elezen, where I am now, and I'm quite enjoying it! I don't have many screenshots of her, I don't really have the patience for gpose anymore. And I have a very bare bones reshade with just LUT in it. And honestly, I think the ultrawide is making it more annoying to take screenshots.

I have 3.9 GBs of FFXIV screenshots, so thank you for taking a look through them with me!

Bonuses! I have/had some alts, including this m Au Ra I really liked for some reason. This character eventually became Cassiel (not in lore, just got a name change and fanta). I have some other alts for my solo FC so I can have an FC house, they're my m miqo, m hroth, and lalafell (appropriately named Wind-up Rai!).

This was from the 2018 valentiones event, my friend is an avid bard and we got our fortunes told as Amon.

When HoH first came out, if you went into gpose when someone was otter'd, they would be huge.

Stupid costumes for Prae runs will always be funny. Back when Prae was an 8 man, 45 minute dungeon!

FFxiv Write 2023 Master list

Had not done continuous chapters in years. Took on this challenge to use some of the notes, partially done fics, scene descriptions in my notebooks. Had to go short story and summary/narrative (?) format due to lack of of a coherent chapter transition point and there being other little scenes in between those as well -_-'

If anything I cleared out a good chunk of my notes. Though some like Mor Dhona Days(ARR, EW 6.0 and 6.1) and Road to recovery stuff(EW between 6.0 and 6.1) still have bits and pieces coming out of the woodwork -_-'

Prompt #1: Envoy - An unused piece of Post EW timeline that involves traveling through Orthard with Hylnyan, Thancred, G'raha and Estinien Prompt #2: Bark - Post EW timeline, A parody dealing with Tomestone farming for mounts and a mount story Prompt #3: Extra Credit - Feathers. Post EW timeline but HW Vanu tribal quest related Prompt #4: Off the Hook - Taking Inventory 2 got transcribed. Hylnyan and Thancred's relationship Prompt #5: Barbarous - Timeline in mid EW, someone remembers Hylnyan all the way from end ARR as one of eight

Prompt #6: Ring - ShB 5.3 onwards Hylnyan from the POV of a dungeon support NPC's POV. okay so one of my favourite facts about haellen is *still* that she's simultaniously the smartest and dumbest person in the room at any time. why yes haellen (and by proxy me i guess for the ones i wrote pre shb/ew) wrote theories on several things that came true in one way or another. yes haellen has created the first self loading pistol eorzea and garlemald has seen. yes she's (post retirement) created a replica of the cruise chaser, auto pilot and all...

yes for several years haellen also thought internal bleeding was a good thing. and thought shrimp fried rice was made by some shrimp race she hadn't met yet. and that the moon (the one that didn't hit eorzea) was made of cheese despite zero evidence to that claim. and yes she thinks ancient allag talked with a very heavy [Eorzean equivelant of swedish] accent and that the few people she's met (either through holograms or other) of ancient allag who didn't talk like that were outliers from a different region.

i love her but haellen is a very silly lady. anyway i'm gonna apologise for the wall of text as i continue to talk about my favourite little psychopath too and post a fresh new picture that i don't think i've posted outside of DM's before

i love. and i mean LOVE that ophelia doesn't smile or look happy at all... but then when she does smile or look normal in those rare few times (Usually with ysayle) she just looks... well really pretty. like ophelia is really pretty, but its so hard to see behind the constant tiredness and meloncholy. and also the violence and the blood and the killing. but then when she does smile she just... well you've seen the picture, she is a very pretty woman and i need to take more gposes of her just smiling to prove that
