This scene itself is pretty uneventful, but is actually super relevant to the plot in a bunch of different ways. I get to establish a bunch of different things for later and progress some of the characters' stories. Particularly once I get near the end of the scene this will be great!

How I Approach Pacing and Tension in Writing (with graphic!)

Hi, welcome to the first actual post on my Tumblr page in where I ramble about how to write the goodest things.

Today's lesson is on PACING AND TENSION!

Hard to explain in many words, so behold my crudely drawn graph of how I handle this shit in my own writing (and I apologize in advance for my chicken scratch kekw)

I tend to have very high-stakes plots, but I feel like this could end up applying to any sort of genre or plot. I know a lot of these graphs I saw in school were a single bell curve with a gradual incline into the climax, but in my experience, the best way to build tension, keep pacing as even as you can, and really build into the peak of a story is to have small points of buildup to smaller peaks (aka the tension points) with sharper curves down into downtime (allowing the character to breathe), before building up again. Each tension point gets more and more intense, with the downtime acting as the small buffers between the gradually increasing intensity of the tension until SURPRISE, SHIT HITS THE FAN, IT'S THE BIG BAD ISSUE COME TO A BOIL.

But of course when shit hits the fan, things aren't the same as they were before (or at least, they won't be for a while), so the shape changes. Instead of sharp curves up and down, you're looking at a more gradual downward incline, with dips for moments of recovery/acceptance before there's little spikes in tension as a result of whatever occurred in the climax. This isn't an exact science and definitely can be toyed with, but this is a model I like to attempt to adhere to when I'm focusing on coming up with my story beats and creating the groundwork for the big climactic explosion.

A Gremlin's Dream

AN: Felt cute. Might delete later.

Genre: Modern male reader in ME (sorry ladies and other folks this couldn't be gn)

Summary: Without thinking, you grab Beleg’s hands. "Don’t do it," you hiss. "Don’t save Turin Turambar. That guy is a walking disaster. Leave him to his tragic fate, trust me. It’ll save you a lot of trouble."

"Ahhhh!" "Ahhhhhh!" another voice echoed back, just as horrified.

You blink into the darkness. One moment, you had been enjoying ice cream with Princess Diana in what you assumed was a perfectly normal, if slightly bizarre dream. Now, you’re here, yanked into an unfamiliar scene.

"It is I, Beleg!" Hands shoot out of the gloom and grab your flailing arms.

Standing before you is a tall, glimmering figure with the kind of ethereal glow only an elf could pull off. Behind him, another figure shuffles nervously, looking just as confused as you feel.

"What the fuck?" you whisper, your heart pounding. You squint at the elf, and then it clicks. "Beleg Cuthalion? The guy from The Silmarillion? The chad who dies? Holy shit!" Your eyes dart to the gleaming blade in his hand. "Is that… Anglachel? Oh my God, it’s the doom sword. The smooth, freaky sword of doom! Later to be forged into Gurthang."

Beleg nods gravely, as though your outburst makes perfect sense. "Yes, I am Beleg."

Your brain short-circuits. Maybe it’s time to cut back on caffeine before bed.

"And I am Gwindor," the other elf adds, stepping forward with an awkward smile.

You blink, trying to process this. Of all the moments from The Silmarillion to dream about, your subconscious decided on The Children of Hurin. The part with the most tragic, dramatic nonsense. Clearly, your inner mind is a sadist.

Without thinking, you grab Beleg’s hands. "Don’t do it," you hiss. "Don’t save Turin Turambar. That guy is a walking disaster. Leave him to his tragic fate, trust me. It’ll save you a lot of trouble."

Beleg frowns, his expression skeptical but patient. He doesn’t pull away as you, driven by sheer desperation, launch into a frantic explanation. You ramble about Turin’s endless brooding, the accidental wife situation, and, of course, the dragon.

Gwindor, meanwhile, looks increasingly uncomfortable. His eyes flick to Beleg, silently asking if this is normal behavior.

As Beleg leads you through the dark woods, you marvel at your dream stamina. Somehow, you’re keeping up with the elves’ impossibly fast pace. Is it adrenaline? Dream logic? Or sheer pettiness keeping you going?

Maybe this is your chance to rewrite The Silmarillion. Who needs Turin when you could have political drama and Thingol being weirdly tall? You start plotting.

If you can get Beleg to return to Thingol’s court, maybe you can even catch a glimpse of Queen Melian in action. This dream is shaping up nicely.

Eventually, Beleg settles for a camp closer to Melian's Girdle. His mind has not forgotten the limits of your mortal body.

Beleg's heart visibly twists as he gazes at you, his friend, now under some trickery of the foe.

Gwindor stares into the flames, his voice hesitant. "It isn’t unheard of. Perhaps the orcs… tampered with his mind. He will recover. At least Queen Melian should know."

Beleg nods glumly. Something is deeply wrong.

You continue to ramble about visions where Beleg is slain by your-Turin's, as you refer to yourself in third person, hand . The madness in your eyes unsettles Beleg in ways he can’t articulate.

Meanwhile, you crouch by a river, staring at your reflection. Your very handsome reflection.

"Wait," you mutter, tilting your head. "This isn’t me."

The face staring back is sharper and stronger, with piercing gray eyes and long dark hair. Freakishly tall now, you, proud short king that you are—can’t entirely hate the change. But the realization hits like a boulder.

"Oh, come on," you groan, burying your face in your hands. You’ve transmigrated into Turin Turambar’s body.

Standing frozen in the clearing, you look up, wide-eyed. Beleg and Gwindor turn to you, concern etched across their faces.

To their shock, you begin to laugh. The sound is wild and unhinged, echoing through the woods like a battle cry. Birds scatter. Squirrels flee. Even the trees seem to lean away in discomfort.

"Fuck you, Morgoth!" you roar, grinning from ear to ear. "Here I come!"

In Angband, Morgoth frowns. The sudden, inexplicable dread that fills him is a foreign sensation. Somewhere, the melody of Arda trembles, a discordant note twisting through the fabric of the world.

Hurin, chained high in his seat of torment, glances down into the woods below. His breath hitches. His son, standing alongside two elves, is giggling with a manic gleam in his eye. For the first time in years, Hurin feels a pang of something other than despair.

You catch your father’s distant gaze and give a little wave, your grin bordering on maniacal.

"The game is on," you whisper to the skies before skipping back toward Beleg and Gwindor, leaving behind a clearing filled with scattered leaves and stunned silence.

The heroes end on Skyloft. They got to know Sun is Hylia, a literal goddess, the first of all the Zeldas! They're all anxious and expect to see a tall, elegant, regal lady with a stoic expression, dressed in white.

Instead they get there and this short chaotic, super expressive gremlin, wearing a knight uniform, runs to Sky so fast they both fall off Skyloft and then laugh as the others are both shocked and confused.

I absolutely loved this, I’m sorry it took so long to do. The prompt was super cute :)

Skyloft was everything Sky had told them it was, but somehow also more. Being so high above the clouds was making Warriors’s head spin, and looking over the edge had him feeling weak in the knees, but Twilight had silently offered him a hand to hold to steady himself and the captain had taken it without hesitation. They’d arrived on the island in the sky a few short minutes ago, just in time to see the sun set, and Warriors’s breath had been stolen away from him by the sheer beauty of it all. He’d been here once before, during the War of Eras, however he hadn’t had much time to really take it all in and realize how beautiful his friend’s home was.

Sky, of course, had been over the moon to be back home, excitedly bouncing around while the others took a moment to adjust to the suddenly thinner air.

Warriors was so distracted by his heart pounding away in his chest due to how close to the edge he was and also by the views that he hadn’t really been paying attention to Sky rambling on about his home until his brother let out a sharp squeak.

“You guys can meet Sun!!” He beamed, running off towards a large staircase.

“Slow down, please,” Time wheezed, rubbing his forehead. The group slowly and groggily trailed behind Sky, who, bless him, was really trying his best to contain his excitement. He stayed with them the entire way up the stairs, bouncing all the way up while Warriors was tightly gripping onto Twilight and the rail for dear life.

He didn’t understand how the others were all so unbothered by how high off the ground they were, the captain appeared to be the only one struggling with it, but he was grateful that no one made a comment or teased him. It seemed even Legend knew when it was not an appropriate time to poke at him.

When they finally reached the end of the stairs, Sky led them into a familiar looking area, towards a ledge where a blond girl sat with her back to them. Warriors immediately assumed this must be Sun, Sky’s Zelda, Hylia reborn. From the way his brother talked about his girlfriend, the captain had imagined her to be as radiant as the goddess herself, an elegant guardian of the islands of the sky.

Warriors had not been expecting the young woman to whip around with a wide, plotting grin, and run at Sky, knocking him sideways over the edge.

He couldn’t help the scream that tore itself from his throat, and he clapped a hand over his mouth as his eyes widened in fear. All the others, except for Twilight who was graciously still holding his hand, raced to the edge to look over and see what had just happened to their beloved brother.

“WHERE’D HE GO???” Legend yelled, breathing heavily.

“Did???? Did she just kill them??” Wind gulped, looking back towards Warriors and the rancher with wide eyes.

Before anyone else could speak, a large red bird came flying up from over the edge, startling the group of heroes and causing everyone to stumble backwards.

“I ain’t ever seen a bird that big in my LIFE,” Twilight choked, gripping on to the captain’s hand a little tighter than he probably meant to, but Warriors didn’t even notice because all of his attention was on the fact that Sky and Sun were on the birds back, laughing like it was some kind of normal afternoon.

“He’s…” Four frowned, hands on his hips. “He’s fine. He’s fine he just… Hylia above.”

Hi! I think you mentioned it here, that Patrick did a second appearance on In Defense of Ska podcast, I finally got to listen to it today, and wanted to share my bubbly feelings in your inbox ;)

I’ve got a feeling, that once in awhile p2 just have to go and participate in cool interesting things just to give fan fiction writers new plot bunnies! Like, here’s a new titbit about my life that you can totally incorporate in your new story! For example, Patrick worked on a school radio station for 4 years??? He had his own show??? He got to listen to bunch of new music and decide what will be in rotation?? There was a lot of hardcore bands that made their way on that rotation?? Do you know what I mean???)) And then, when he was asked about if he managed to sneak in some ska into fob catalogue, and he admitted to only a couple of songs having some elements…?? It’s just pure gold! He softly talks about Pete appreciating reggae, because he grew up listening to it a lot, and then tells that he himself likes doing the dishes and listening to some reggae albums… I mean… this shit writes itself, lol!!! And by the end of it I just realised once more, that I could listen to this magical, silly man from the suburbs of Chicago talk, almost uninterrupted, for endless periods of time ☺️

All of this is SO TRUE. It's funny because, like, Pete has long had the reputation / role for being the one "in the know" and joking about fandom and RPF and shipping, etc., but I love so much how, as they have aged, Patrick has turned out to be absolutely stellar at providing little fic prompts hahahahaha he's such a little gremlin about it and I love him for it. Everything about that interview was SO GOOD. They just let Patrick ramble and ramble and the whole thing was pure gold, Patrick is the best hahahaha

Sometimes I think, like, Pete used to joke about it all so demonstrably because he was testing Patrick, like, do you like me? do you still like me? we're special soulmates, right? you feel the same way, right? And now he doesn't have to test Patrick anymore because he knows how Patrick feels because Patrick so casually is just like, So Pete loves reggae and me, too, I listen to it while I wash the dishes, yup, for, like, no reason at all in this conversation hahahaha. Pete's chilled out the more that Patrick's leaned in.

I’d rather keep her in my life as a friend than lose her altogether." Cue reader being like 'bet' And she finally takes matters (and maybe Bob 😏) into her own hands.

Option 2: She overhears Bob saying something like "Y/N? Nah, she's too intense and selfish. We’d never work." But it’s all a front because he's trying to hide his feelings. Reader = shattered. She starts avoiding him and goes full Top Gun drill sergeant on him and Phoenix during training. Bob pulls her aside like, “Are you okay? Did I do something?” And she hits him with: "Sorry. Just being my usual selfish, headstrong self. Next time I’ll make it even harder for you." Cue tension, regret, confessions, and finally, truth bombs and smutty relief

Anyway, no pressure if it’s not your vibe, but if it is, I’d be the happiest little gremlin on the planet. Thanks for reading this ramble.

Another Ramble shitpost

I think at its core, a lot of people have varying different takes of a character or ship that they prefer. There's literally no wrong takes or answers because everything's subjective and the point of a fandom or a fanon is that fans are fixated/ interested in a story/character/ship enough that they are invested to talk/write/draw about it.

With that said, here's more ramble shitpost for the Hamilton fandom. As a reader, I am amenable to read multiple ships given that I have enough interest in the story/plot. My go to trope is evidently enemies to lovers; Hence forth to why I'm rambling here about the different type of dynamic that exists within that trope itself.

I think the LAMS or Hamilton x Laurens ship is kinda clear cut example of best friends to lovers. I'll be brutally honest and say that it's endearing and I think it makes a lovely love story.

To fall in love with a bestfriend, one who knows your mind, who can probabyly finish your sentence mis-speak and is always defending you would be a spectatcular emotion.

For me, enemies to lovers resonate deeper with my psyche because it's the notion of having a person who's seen your worst qualities and still being able to love you as well as bring out a spark/light that you've never had with anyone else seems more exciting.

In enemies to lovers trope, there's also different a=elements to bring forward like whether it's enemies at first sight, or academic/peer rival, or friends/ally turned enemy or even enemy due to generational conflict.

So here, I feel like there's a dilemma (in terms of my personal preference) between Jamilton or Hamburr.

I've read quite a lot of fics on these two ships (and also some threesomes fic lol)

And i kinda remember seeing this tiktok vid where this guy explained the entirety of the naruto x (any gloomy character ship) is basically the same formula of cheerful sunshine x gloomy guy with trauma, only the spectrum of how much trauma the gloomy one has differs.

Like Naruto x Sasuke, Naruto x Neji and Naruto x Gaara. Though, as someone who thoroughly followed the Naruto fandom, I know that there's a stark difference in these three ships due to the character's background and interactions with Naruto.

In Hamilton case, it's a bit different I think.

For one, Aaron Burr x Alexander Hamilton kind of started as acquaintances to friends to rivals to enemies. Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson x Alexander Hamilton follows a clearer adversaries/rivals to enemies to reluctant acquantance? (since they kinda worked together). I'm taking this in the context of Musical Hamilton isntead of Historically accurate RPF (I do read about them and I did take political philosophy classes featuring Jefferson's and Madison's philosophy but i dont think im adept enough to relate it to the musical Hamilton fandom)

Jefferson x Hamilton ship is the fun kind of enemies to lovers where they hate each other straight up due to the differences of their beliefs. I'd fo as far as to say they're on two opposing spectrums in multiple subjects of debate (kinda how they shaped the US to be a two party system lol). But I can see the potential there, since them arguing and debating would amount to a great deal of sexual tension. I absolutely fics where Jefferson sees Hamilton as a caffein fiend or liberal gremlin lol. I think the extend of enemies to lovers would entail them being different from each other or polar opposites, but there's also some similarities that allow them to trangress from hate to attraction to love. (Like Hamilton's begrudging acceptance that in spite of his views clashing with Jefferson's, he still has strong principles and enough wit to back his opinions (though, shitty). Respect is given when its due, and for one to have even an ounce of respect for an enemy kinda opens up the possibility to see beyond the initial hatred which makes the progression of the ship so enjoyable like you can curse that motherfucker all you want but you're still gonna end up fucking with him since the author already inseterted the enemy to lovers.

For Burr x Hamilton though- it has a whole fucking lot of layers that makes it all the more richer. It kinda starts with Hamilton approaching Burr with admiration and inquiring on how he can get as far as Burr did (graduating early etc) only to be disappointed at Burr's lack of conviction in his stands (talk about not meeting your heroes, huh) But, I imagined that Hamilton kinds of holds dear of his first meeting with Burr, seeing him as his first friend in America.

The evolution of Burr and Hamilton's relationship goes from being total strangers to them being constantly aware of each other/ keep meeting. They might not really run in the same circles anymore, nor do they particularly go out of their way to purposedly spite e/o but they're still in e/o life. Then comes to the moment where Washington chooses Hamilton instead of Burr which procludes Burr and Hamilton having a silent rivalry that they may or may not be concious of. For me, it's endearing how Hamilton is unlike anything Burr has ever uncover and he struggles to understand why Hamilton is the way he is and it's the same case with Hamilton about Burr.

Like they really have this grievances about how the other acts (Hamilton upset with Burr's 'wait for it' attitude while Burr feels that Hamilton brash nature of running straight into things ) and interestingly enough, the way they'd criticise e/o is in no way -they make jabs at the expense of the other but there's not much malice in it (as opposed to how Hamilton would roast Jefferson)

The reason I like enemies to lovers is that there's a moment it goes from them hating e/o to them fully acknowledging their differences that doesn't solidify their loathing but instead becomes endearing or the very thing they seek within the other. It's like complementaries. How soulmates or two different sides of the same coin?

And for the Burr x Hamilton ship- the tragic end where they end up being each other's damnation feels poetic (I can literally imagine a fic where there's the name of your greatest enemy on your left hand while the right hand is the name of your soulmate only for Burr and Hamilton to have each other's name on both hands)

I honestly dont know how i should end this ramble lol but I kinda had a same discussion with a mutual about DMTKH (where Jaha x Jai and Jai x Farhan have distinctively different dynamics in spite of the ship following an enemy to lover kind of trope)

I've shared some snips of the Christmas fic, but I don't remember if I have a tag for it... I need to search my own blog lmao

I wasn't expecting to finish it before Christmas, because I definitely didn't start it in time and am bad at fake deadlines, and now it's February... it's fine, time isn't real.

I don't think I've talked about the ~~**~*concept*~**~~ because I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish it, but things aren't that deep! It's just fanfic, there's no secret! Hahaha okay so:

It's loosely based on the film The Family Man (2000), which in itself is a loose A Christmas Carol-slash-It's a Wonderful Life riff. The premise is that Bucky, a high-powered film exec living a lonely life and holding everyone at bay with a lot of "I'm fine"s, is yeeted into a version of his life where he never broke up with his college boyfriend Gale. It's an excuse for me to write a lot about mental illness guilt and self-victimisation, and the catharsis of accepting love and help from people who care about you and your mental state! I actually have ~15k of it written up so far, but I'm loathe to guesstimate what the final wordcount could be. I have a plot outline but it's also slightly intense for me to work on because it is. Incredibly personal lmao

It is also a lot for @angelfruittree because when I said I wanted to do an AU of this movie (I watched it for the first time last year) she said it was an all-time fave of hers and I just! Really want to do it justice! Bucky working in film (in both lives 👀) was her idea <3

This one is also featuring The Egan Sisters™ who I invented for my time slip fic, but are phlegmativerse canon now 😂😂😂

Jean "Bean" Egan is Bucky's eldest sister, and has very much been put into the position of being expected to be a third parent: eldest daughters are forced to grow up too fast, but youngest siblings aren't trusted to grow up (especially when they're mentally ill). Bucky is given a glimpse of a version of Bean who does trust him, and it throws him through a bit of a loop:

“My little gremlins ready?”

“Uh—No. They’re eating toast. Sorry.”

“Ope, you didn’t have to feed ‘em! There’s that iHop near the station.” There’s nothing in her tone but a bright kind of harried-ness, like how their mom used to be a lot of the time. None of the clipped impatience that Bucky gets from Bean more and more; she’s still smiling. “Hi, how are ya?” She cranes up to kiss his cheek, fleeting and careless, and then she’s already bustling past him in the direction of the kitchen, working at the toggles on her coat.

“Bean.”

“Yup?” She stops her charging, turning back to face him clear-eyed and happy, flicking her hair out of the way as she shucks her coat. Brown Egan curls, just like Maisie’s (just like Bucky’s), wild and escaping from under her pom-pom beanie. Lines round her eyes creased by her smile, not drooping with exhaustion.

“You let your kids stay with me?”

It isn’t quite what he wanted to ask, or what he wanted to try to tell her. It comes out all parched and strained. Bean cocks her head, tutting a little.

Random Not Sober AU notes I found on my phone after last night that get simpler as they go:

1) FMA/HP Au where Lily is Hohenhiem’s kid and she goes to Amestris to meet her father and half brothers with her husband James. Along the way they hook up with Roy Mustang. Harry is his bio kid. Then of course the Potters die and Dumbledore sucks so much he just drops the baby off at the Elric’s house unaware Trisha died and Hoenheim fucked off. Cue Ed and Al raising their nephew. Then of course we have human transmutation, Roy coming and Al going: oh hey wasn't some of the notes Lily left saying you were Harry’s dad?

This 100% would end with Parental Roy having three gremlin kids, Harry going through human transmutation to get rid of the Horocrux in exchange for Al, and then CHAOS at Hogwarts.

2) A really weird AU where Hoenheim slept with a woman in Xing when he was first there who had a kid she kept secret so no one could worship them or do weird shit. The kid had a kid and so on until they left Xing after their clan was attacked, they got to Amestris, got married and had a son. Roy Mustang.

This also included Hoenheim having another child with an Ishvalan woman before he met Trisha. His daughter went on to have two sons: Scar and his brother.

I have no idea where I was going with this. But its amusing.

3) BNHA AU where Space Orcs tropes happen but I include the period stuff I talked about. Izuku is a trans guy who gets snatched with Jirou. 4) FMAB AU where the Homunculi all murder Father because they hate him and just chill. Greed finds Hohenheim and finds out about the boys. Decides Hohenheim is a bad dad so he goes off to be weird cousin Greed along with the others. They still try human transmutation and get into the military where Bradley is like: why is my baby cousin- Que Ed being known as the Fuher’s cousin.

5) self insert wakes up as Envy. Basically they go fuck the plot turn into a cat and hang around the elric brothers.

6) Like a half page ramble about Girl!Bakugou and how she would be meaner then her canon self to male Izuku and just nasty to a girl Izuku because if we keep her personality then you have society coming down on her for not being soft and shit. I have no idea where this was going.

7) EdLing AU where Ling was disowned for liking men and refusing a marriage with a woman from his clan, so he runs off to Amestris to find a philosopher's stone early and then meets the Elric brothers before canon.

9) EdLing share the pair AU. Imagine prince Ling screaming about his arm and leg, and people realizing his soulmate lost theirs.

Oh that's another thing I'd love to share!

The Anarchy is what I'm calling the period of time after the Directors death when there was a massive power vacuum in the under-city, and it only truly ended once Doc had taken control of the Labs...but that's also a vague timeline, the chaos and all-out turf war started to decline as Doc and Etho worked to restructure the labs alongside their allies, but it was still there. In the present day of the AU, these sorts of conflicts still exist but they never boil over thanks to the teamwork between Etho taking care of the mob connections and Doc maintaining order as the new Director.

I'm thinking of making a timeline of what I have so far in terms of solid year-by-year events, would anyone be interested in seeing that? Let me know!

Ok so continuing on from this slightly bonkers ramble, I give you: More Spur-Of-The-Moment Thoughts About The Bo And The Blueberry AU.

(for clarity, i'm splitting this up into rebels-era and mandoverse-era..)

rebels-era:

Due to the bad experiences he'd been through on the streets, Ezra was nonverbal for a long time. During his stay on Krownest, he would spend hours painting with Alrich and Sabine, because it made him feel heard even if he couldn't find the words to speak.

Bo-Katan said the adoption vows to Ezra on an impulse. She had just told him that she hadn't been able to save his parents, and he had started to cry. She had never thought of adopting him as her own son, but she changed her mind in that moment and never looked back.

Korkie and Ezra are cousins, but Korkie is honestly closer to an older-brother figure to him. Korkie was very interested in the Jedi when he was young, so he has the knowledge to help teach Ezra about the Force, and how to control and hide his powers. (When Ezra eventually gets the Darksaber, Korkie is his second-most vocal supporter. Bo-Katan is the only one who has him beat.)

When Ezra is about eight, Bo-Katan decides he does need some Jedi training, more than she and Korkie can provide, and sets out to find herself a Jedi who can teach this kid. She ends up on Gorse just in time to plummet headfirst into the plot of A New Dawn. Kanan, upon finding out what she wants, refuses to train Ezra. Bo-Katan is not so easily deterred. She makes a game out of finding Kanan and Hera, helping out on a mission, and then delicately pointing out just how many times she's saved their butts and they really owe her one and yknow Ezra could really use some Jedi lessons...

When Ezra is ten, Maul kidnaps him. Bo-Katan seeks out Kanan again--she knows she can't stop Maul on her own.

In this AU, Kanan defeats Maul, but Bo-Katan is the one to strike the killing blow. She may not be a Jedi, she may not have the Force, but she's a Mandalorian mom. Nobody hurts her boy and lives to tell the tale.

After his kidnapping, Ezra struggles with the Dark side, which gives Kanan the final push he needs to train Ezra. Ezra's recovery is difficult, but he pulls through and is brighter than ever.

Due to Kanan and Ezra training together, connections begin to form between the Mandalorian Resistance and the outside rebellion. By the time Ezra is a teenager, the two groups are cooperating fully.

Bo-Katan knows who Fulcrum is--she recognized the symbol as Ahsoka's face-marking.

Ezra built his first lightsaber with a kyber crystal he found in the Living Waters.

Ezra is much healthier, due to not having to scavenge for his food for most of his childhood. He hit a growth spurt when he was thirteen, shortly before he went to the Imperial Academy and reunited with Sabine. She says she's taller. He says they're the same height. They refuse to measure themselves together and settle it because they're both secretly afraid they're wrong. This is an ongoing argument for the next ten years.

Ezra and Sabine were both really surprised to meet each other at the Academy. I have a funny mental image in my head of them both taking off their helmets at the same time, doing a double take, and then just *spider-man pointing meme* "YOU!"

He was worried for a while that she would turn him in, either as a Force-sensitive or as a spy, but she eventually gave him a vaguely-worded hint that she was keeping his secrets for him.

Sabine still has a big falling-out with her family, but this time, since the Duchess was never used, it's more about the machine's creation itself (and Sabine's decision to run away to the Imperial Academy.) She ends up joining the Spectres for a little while before Hera convinces her to reconcile with her mother. Afterwards, Sabine (and her family) end up joining in with the Mandalorian Resisance.

Korkie, Ezra, Sabine, and Tristan earn the title of Gremlin Squad. Leia is an honorary member as well. Korkie is a lot older than them, but he has enough chaos energy to fit right in.

Ezra and Sabine spend about a year apart during their late teens. By the time they meet again, Ezra has started pulling his hair back. Sabine thanks the Force that she managed to handle the reunion normally because for the first minute and a half there was nothing in her brain except oh no ponytail hot

Thrawn is still purgilled, but since Ezra is a Mandalorian and has a jetpack, he's able to fly out of the window and doesn't get yoinked into the unknown with Thrawn.

mandoverse-era:

So, Mandoverse events take place about five years sooner than in canon. this is solely for the purpose of giving ezra a Chaotic 23 Year Old Who May Not Have His Life Figured Out But By Golly He Has A Laser Sword vibe.

(I've figured some more stuff out, so bear with me because I've changed up the part about Din's introduction from what I said yesterday.)

Luke has also become an honorary member of the Gremlin Squad at this point. He and Ezra met up and discussed their Jedi training. Ezra meets Ben Solo at some point too. He recognizes in the child the same Dark influences that Ezra himself went through after Maul took him, and helps the boy pull through. Ben never Falls, thus averting the events of the sequel trilogy. Luke is secretly a little jealous that Ben thinks his honorary uncle Ezra is cooler than his actual uncle Luke, to which Ezra says, "Aliit ori'shya tal'din."

With Luke's help, the Gremlin Squad becomes the Official Jedi Search-And-Rescue Club. They go looking for more Jedi survivors and invite them to Luke's Jedi school on Mandalore. (Cal and Merrin are some of the first to show up.)

This search for Jedi ends up leading Ezra and Tristan to the planet Arvala-7... mere days after Din Djarin has already retrieved Grogu (AKA the Jedi they were looking for.)

(Din is there early because Moff Gideon's inability to take over Mandalore has moved up the timeline on some other events.)

(Also, Moff Gideon still has the Darksaber, but in this AU, he didn't get it from Bo-Katan, since Bo never got it from Sabine, because Sabine never went to Dathomir, because the events of Visions and Voices never happened. Instead, Gideon got it from Morgan Elsbeth, who took it from Maul's creepy cave and passed it on to him so he could. like. flex on the mandalorians or something idk.)

Ezra and Tristan track Din, because they're worried about Grogu. They constantly follow him for, like, basically 1 1/2 seasons of The Mandalorian. They're always just slightly behind and keep showing up a tiny bit too late to get mixed up in Plot Events.

When Bo-Katan offers to bring Din and Grogu to her Jedi Mandalorian son, Din is not expecting to see one of the two Mandalorians who have been following him constantly. The misunderstanding takes a bit of explaining to clear up.

Oh yeah also. Ezra's response to Bo telling him that she insulted Din to his face when they first met was "Oh, so you're into him?" It was a joke, but the more he saw of the two of them together, the more he started to wonder if there might actually be something there.

When Grogu gets kidnapped, the (official) members of the Gremlin Squad join in the rescue.

After winning the Darksaber and reluctantly agreeing to be Mand'alor, Ezra decides not to live in the palace in Sundari. Mandalore is a dead planet, and a Jedi needs to live with the living. He sets up as Mand'alor on Kalevala, under Bo-Katan's guidance.

Sabine is Ezra's official advisor and Korkie is his PR guy, but Korkie is the one with actual good advice and Sabine is kind of a miracle worker for PR (when she tries. which is not often.) Bo points out that it would make sense to switch their titles, but Ezra thrives on chaos and so he refuses.

Ezra refuses to sit on his Mand'alor Throne in any remotely normal or dignified way. He slouches. He lounges. He sprawls. He sits upside-down. He does one-handed handstands. He and Korkie and Tristan all squeeze together and sit on the throne in identical sets of armor to mess with people. Ezra's Throne Antics are a source of constant exasperation for Bo.

Speaking of the throne, Sabine has claimed the armrest as her official Mand'alor Advisor seat. She thinks sitting there makes her look cool. and yknow what? She's right. It does make her look cool.

Oh yeah, also, nobody knows that Sabine is Ezra's advisor. She wears a plain set of armor, keeps her helmet on, and goes by an alias. This disguise is supposedly for security purposes, but it's actually to keep herself out of the gossip holomagazines. She gets enough attention just as acquaintances with Ezra... imagine what would happen if the press found out she was the one lounging on the armrest of his Mand'alor Throne!

Sabine is also Ezra's bodyguard. She volunteered enthusiastically and kind of begged for the position. Sabine takes a maniacal delight in ferreting out assassination attempts and turning the hunters into the hunted, so to speak. It's like if Kevin McCallister was homicidal.

The first time a Mandalorian clan leader proposes marriage to Ezra, Tristan laughs so hard he falls out of his chair.

so this is a primer on the two series before ToA written by @fearlessinger, one of the many meta-makers in the fandom! She actually read ToA BEFORE the other two series, and roped a couple other people into doing the same!

if you'd like to listen to me ramble while avoiding spoilers, I got an overview of the RRverse (Rick Riordan Universe) below!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is the first installment of the overall series! It's five books long and told in the POV of Percy Jackson, a modern-day half-blood, and covers his first four years at Camp Half-Blood, a training camp. It, as well as the next two series, takes lots of inspiration from Greek Mythology - it's basically "what if the Greek gods were still around and have ended up in America?"

The Heroes of Olympus is the second series, taking place the winter after the fifth PJO book to the summer after. It's told in the POVs of a total of nine characters, including Percy, split between the five books, depending on who's more relevant to the plot at hand in each book.

Thirdly is the magnum opus of a series The Trials of Apollo, taking place also the winter after the last book to the summer after, but the POV narrator is, you guess it, Apollo himself! You see, in Greek Mythology, Apollo was sent down to earth to serve a mortal master as punishment twice, once for participating in a rebellion against Zeus, and the second for murdering the Elder Cyclopes after his son Asclepius was killed for raising the dead.

This time, though? Requires a minor spoiler from The Heroes of Olympus.

You see, Apollo is being blamed for the war that occurs in HoO, due to his position as the god of prophecy (nevermind the fact that he doesn't control prophecy, and did actually try to propose a way to stop the war but...nobody listened to him RIP. also a descendant of his got dupped into starting another war. more details in HoO itself). Therefore, he is being punished to serve a third sentence down on Earth - but this time, unlike in the myths, he is 100% mortal. He can very well die, and his powers are extremely limited.

Upon his arrival to Earth, he discovers he is tragically in the body of a normal teenager with - GASP! - flab and acne and immediately gets mugged, gets rescued by an impetuous and gremlin of a 12 year old girl, and they become bonded for life - figuratively and literally. Over the five books, they become The Sibling Duo, the Ultimate Found Family alongside their friends! If you want a Found Family trope in a series, THIS IS THE SERIES FOR YOU! *car salesman voice*

oh yeah did I mention Apollo's a good dad? Yeah he's a GREAT dad (cough, the best godly parent we have the canon proof for it, cough) and adores his kids <3 though it's a little awkward for them all because he's in the body of a 16 year old boy and his oldest kid at camp is 15 lmao

To make it SAD though, in PJO we learn Apollo's cabin, where his kids live at Camp, is the SECOND LARGEST at CHB...but by ToA, there's only three campers living there year-round. (*eyes PJO* the answer lies there. the ToA fandom mourns daily.)

Apollo ALSO has FANTASTIC and TRAGIC romances (in myths AND in ToA!). The first ones we get a lot of info about are mythological ones, like Daphne and Hyacinthus (did I mention he's bisexual as fuck? because he is eheheheheheheh). We also even get bits and pieces of his kids' parents, such as that he and Will's mom Naomi did things that are definitely rated R (LMAO), Apollo loved hearing Austin's mom Latricia just talk about her musical interests (boyfriend goals fr), and that Kayla's dad Darren is an Olympic archery instructor (he likes them archers! also yeah Kayla has TWO dads :D)!

Rick manages to get away with SO MUCH in this series it's a RIOT! also it's def darker than the other two! trust i was the editor. there is torture. there is brutal murder. there is zombie apocalypse. The Burning Maze and The Tyrant's Tomb are arguably the darkest books.

Apollo makes a lot of pop culture refs too, but its done in a way that makes sense, because he's a 4,000+ year old god who has seen A Lot. For instance, upon reading the first page of The Hidden Oracle, you will discover he blessed Babe Ruth with his home run and rained his wrath down upon Britney Spears at the MTV Music Video Awards. He's also fathered a lot of historical figures, from Caesar Augustus to Leonardo Di Vinci! he's also dated some historical figures, like Princess Tatiana Romanov of Russia. His narration gets WILD and FUN!

speaking of his narration. he is an unreliable narrator, and a FANTASTIC one! not only is he funny, but to see what kind of person he really is, you GOT to pay attention to what he's doing, instead of what he's telling you 👀 he's a lying liar who lies, to himself as well as you - ironic, considering he's the god of truth, but there's something poetic about that... (he's also the god of poetry haha see what i did there? hehehe)

uhhh what else what else OH YEAH TRAGIC TOXIC YAOI

that's in book 2. also a bit in Book 4. i am the CEO of the ship :3 I am writing The Essays on them. Apollo is SUCH a bisexual MESS when confronted with his evil ex. you will be heartbroken over them. </3

oh yeah the evil guys. THE ANTAGONISTS WHOOOO

if you like metaphors of the destruction of capitalists, say no more. in order to maintain suspense, I will refrain from naming them, but know they are historical figures brought to life in fiction, and hoooo boyyyyy does Rick go hard with them!

in total, there are the three Main Ones, then there's a fourth Even Bigger One (from mythology!), with like three more Smaller But Still Awesome (two historically, and one from mythology!) ones. WE HAVE SEVEN VILLAINS IT'S SO MUCH FUN!!!!

now. onto the THEMES!!!

there is an overarching theme in PJO, HoO, and ToA of generational trauma and the cycle of abuse, and no series brings it into as much focus as ToA.

You see, Olympus, over the years, as slowly become corrupt, drifting farther and farther away from their mythology days, as well as their home in Greece (out of universe, Rick just decided to put them in America, but in-universe, it's because Olympus is drawn to where the most human power is allocated. You could say Zeus himself is chasing power...we like to overanalyze here haha *eyes our mountains of meta* if you like that you are in the right place :3). Zeus has become increasingly more paranoid and distrustful, of even his children - especially of his children, when you think about the cycle of succession going on even in the myths - so when there were two wars that he refused to acknowledge nearly felled Olympus, he turns to his resident scapegoat/golden child - Apollo - and blames it all on him.

Zeus and Apollo are beautifully mirrored by another father who is abusive to his so-called child. the fandom goes insane over them.

wanna know what else is insane? THE REPRESENTATION !!!!!!

I'm just gonna hash it all out as it occurs to me! :D

Apollo is our resident bisexual narrator. nobody bisexuals as much as he does. the number of times he's thirsting over his evil ex...calm down Apollo i know you're technically a teen rn but HOLD YOUR HORSES there are CHILDREN (not that that stopped his evil ex from making TWO innuendos...see what I mean by Rick got away with a lot? LMAO)

old married lesbians with an adoptive daughter! we stan.

a relationship previously in HoO that was thrown together very haphazodously and is now very much seen as an aromantic metaphor among the ToA fandom (both individuals longed for a romantic partner due to their isolation and got together because of that but aren't a very healthy match, so while they don't officially break up in canon, they DO end up 'taking a break' so we interpret that as 'will break up and stay friends eventually')

SPEAKING OF AROMANTIC METAPHORS. SAY HELLO TO MY SECOND-FAVORITE TOA CHARACTER, AND MY FAVORITE FEMALE RRVERSE CHARACTER!!

she says fuck anormativity and joins a girl gang (aka, the Hunters of Artemis where you run around hunting monsters and swearing off romance for as long as you are a member. they are not the aromantic/asexual or even lesbian group the wider fandom tends to interpret them as, they are like a priesthood, taking vows of chastity and pledging their loyalty to their god, in this case Artemis).

Rick did a BIT of a mix up when confirming Reyna's sexuality on Twitter, saying she was alloace when in reality her storyline is MUCH MORE arospec. We shake his hand though for trying and actually reaching out to aro/ace people to learn about their experiences with their sexuality in order to write Reyna.

she's also Puerto Rican!!

(sidenote but Reyna is demiromantic to me. yes i am projecting. but also it FITS and i rambled about it a few times haha)

let's see who else - OH YEAH LAVINIA. she's a tap-dancing lesbian with pink hair who chews bubblegum. when asked if she'd like to join the Hunt she was like "nah girls are too pretty" and goes off to date Poison Oak (a nymph). she's Russian and Jewish! :D

we also have heteronormativity representation, seen in The Burning Maze, where previous couple in HoO Piper and Jason are no longer a thing, because the way their relationship started...weeeeell it was with false memories implanted into Piper's head and Jason's completely wiped soooo...yeah. plus Piper gets a girlfriend at the end of the series so SAPPHIC REPRESENTAION! we love to see it

Piper's Cherokee! :D and uses Cherokee weapons in the story, as well as her demigod weapons!

oh yeah Solangelo is canon too, Will (Apollo's previously mentioned son) and Nico, our "plot-twist, he's gay!" character from HoO, and the one Rick slipped in after fooling the Disney censors with his straight-and-white-appearing PJO series (though we the fandom tend to headcanon Percy as bisexual, because he can't shut up about how good-looking Luke is, nor about how muscular Beckendorf is, and he's also been headcanoned to be Hispanic, Colombian, and Puerto Rican!)

Nico technically isn't the first queer character in the RRverse, though. That title goes to Sadie Kane from The Kane Chronicles series, which takes place in the same universe as PJO, HoO, and ToA, but is it's own series centered around Egyptian mythology! Sadie is canonically polyamorous. she has two boyfriends. queen.

our other RRverse series is Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, and if you know that last word, you may have probably guessed Norse mythology! If ToA is the sexuality rep series, the series for the aros and the aces, than Magnus Chase is the one for the genders!!

Alex Fierro is genderfluid and transgender, as well as Hispanic! Magnus himself is pansexual, and Samirah is Muslim! I've heard from Muslim ToA fans that she's actually very good rep, with a misstep on Rick's end, concerning what qualifies as "family you can take your hijab off around". We also have Thomas Jefferson Jr. (not related to the president) who is African American, Mallory Keen from Ireland, and Halfborn Gunderson of Flam. you will have to read the series to see what I'm talking about for him hahahaha 😈

The ToA fandom is so much fun, and despite the absolute insanity our theories suggest, they actually make SO MUCH SENSE, and Apollo's actions in books before ToA are recontextualized! He appears in The Titan's Curse, The Last Olympian, The Blood of Olympus, The Singer of Apollo, Camp Half-Blood Confidential, and is a heavy presence in The Diary of Luke Castellan!

ALL of his appearances have been heavily analyzed by our minds so if you decide to dive in, be prepared to be bombarded with meta as soon as you come back up haha! (I have also made meta. i have inspired other meta. i have wrote fanfics based on meta. we love meta here :D)

not to mention, despite the little crumbs we get about the other Olympians, we've actually managed to pull together likely characterizations on them too! and they do not align with the wider fandom takes sooo...we're a pretty small majority comparatively.

also fair warning, ToA isn't very popular with the wider fandom in general, due to very eye-rolling reasons (Ex: "[character that was previously unpopular in fandom] died, that's SUCH bad writing! :/" or "Percy's barely in it :/" or even "Meg [a literal 12 year old] is annoying/ a mary sue :/"), so we tend to stick to our corner of tumblr and our Discord server, running our own events (ToApril is coming up soon!) and yapping to each other on the daily.

we're cozy with our tumblrs and Discord :D we also like to yap about the mythology so you WILL be subjected to MANY rambles about it. it is very likely i will throw my magnum opus of a research post on Apollo's mythology love life at you because i PUT WORK INTO THAT and I use it to shut up the haters. :D

plus, we like to mash the mythology with the RRverse canon whenever possible, because there are differences between how the myths are explained in canon compared to the flexibility of mythology, to the gods' portrayals, which don't always line up with how they are in the myths.

- Like Charming Sly Malewife and Powerful Cunning Girlboss, they're both intelligent in different ways

- For Thorne, it will be People Skills aka He has great interpersonal skills or is great at being empathetic and communication skills (Ironic kuz He is a Demon) and is great with finances (His a Merchant Damn it!), also he should be great at being an alchemist (Kuz I am taking this idea from the premium items he sells), and appraiser (kuz obviously).

- While Remilia is somewhat good at those things, she is mostly great at being a Battlemage or mage warrior (Thanks to Emi), politics, strategist, smooth-talker and most of all being a badass queen (Honestly Remilia is too Badass OP, that I will think again what she is great at)

- I want Thorne to be great at reading people's body language (Merchant) or great at reading at people in general and can clearly tell someone is not whom they seem

- As much as Remilia is good at reading people, Thorne is way better because of his merchant experience and his high Intuition & Instincts, and he may not look like it but he is quite observant that he is able to tell something is off from someone, especially if he has a lot of information about them or knows them well enough

- Like Thorne has Kinesics(?)

- Also Thorne is secretly skilled at using plant magic since he is quite proficient at using plant magic

- You see where I am going with this? HEHEHEH

- So I find out from Chapter 9, the reason why Thorne doesn't have demon-like features is that it is a sign of lower or weak magical energy/power

- Usually, that will prevent me from making Thorne a Powerful Plant Mom Demon but I did type a skilled plant magic user, So Thorne is still a Skilled Plant Mom Magic User

-So I also find out in Chapter 9 about How Thorne believes that Remilia will make the Demon King, Angel Happy and erase the pain that has burdened him like the chapter was literally dedicated to Angel's Lore and Suffering, and how he deserved better which was stated by Thorne.

- and I am like "Oh Zhit, HOW AM I- OH BOI- OH NO- FU-"

- But then Remember why I was very hyper-fixated or obsessed with this ship of mine

2.) One of the reasons why I was obsessed with shipping Thorne and Remilia was that I DID NOT LIKE THE REASON WHY REMILIA AND ANGEL ENDED UP TOGETHER! (Update Again if Big Change Happened, like Chapter 9)

The reason was that Pina the Bish, favorite character was the Demon King, and Remilia who was out for revenge was like "Oh? Thats your favorite character? And you want to Marry him? WELL SIKE!! HIS MINE NOW!"

And thats like one of the greatest revenge ever but I found out even more that Remilia didn't marry out of Love for Angel, She married out of Spite to Pina's face

And She doesn't mind marrying Angel because he loves "Emi's Remilia" but I, the Hopeless Romantic Fool does not consider that as Love at all! I rather if Angel loves Remilia for herself! Even if it pains me even more that Remilia and Thorne will never be a together.

And Angel deserves someone who's freaking honest, isn't used for the sake of revenge, and is an actual LOVE! I mean chapter 9 was literally dedicated to Him freaking crying because he is killing his own people (and his brother, which I know won't happen kuz Remilia is gonna prevent that) and the burden of being King who has to kill his own kind just to stop even more killings

It honestly hurts knowing that they "Love" you or marry you because of revenge, To Spite a motherfreaking bish. Angel deserves better. Angel deserves someone that actually loves him

If I guess, Remilia could slowly fall in love with Angel when they are married but that's a big "IF" and knowing that she has to pretend to be "Emi's Remilia" to him and not herself in front him is already a no-no

I just want Remilia to be herself, even if it is only a single person, and also talk about Emi (LOL She needs to boast about her favorite reincarnator)

3.) Why Thorne? Why Him?

I can't fully explain it since I am clearly bad with words and constantly forgot the knowledge I learned, especially with my vocabulary. So I will say this as I explain in number 1 but let's add more. The reason that I have chosen Thorne, and why I was hyper-fixated with that character and would love for him to be the main love interest for Remilia is because of how he was drawn. His drawn cat eyes were the moment I instantly love this character and the way his personality showed the more you look at his expression whenever he reacted to Remilia's words or actions. Honestly, I already explained more in number 1 that Thorne and Remilia will be interesting asf, and something brand new or something fresh of breath air.

I also wished Thorne to be ML because if I tried to understand based on chapters alone, Remilia always went out to grab the quest items and always come back home to either spend a day or a few days. So it probably means Remilia and Thorne also spend quite time with each other, and it's usually because of business but don't you bond with your business partner? Yes! Yes, you do bond with them, which means their connection with each other will go better and stronger. So, I know Thorne is merely a merchant but that's the interesting part he is merely a merchant which is a breath of fresh air since the male leads are always either, a crown prince, a knight, a powerful wizard, or a demon king. I mean sure the plot twist of Thorne was him being a demon but that's it.

I am just taking advantage of the fact that he and Remilia spend more time together than Angel and Remilia because I have a headcanon that Remilia is a type of person who falls in love with a person if they bonded emotionally or spend so much quality time with each other. Usually one of the factors is her love for Emi, thats like the biggest reason she started her revenge but what if Remilia also fall in love while still doing her revenge for Emi. Because I just imagine Remilia remembering Emi's wise words as she starts to slowly fall in Love with Thorne's being, his expressive face, his wit, his cat smug face, and his honesty with her as they bond together.

I want Remilia to slowly fall in Love, and finding out this how Love is, and how different loving someone like a family and a lover. Of course Thorne will be similar to the original but let's make his personality even shine more, especially the way he reacts, talk, and How the hell did become a capable chief!

4.) Thorne is Cute ASF, and he probably is one of the people who understand her way better especially if she confesses about Emi and more. No.3 explained better.

One thing I will never understand is your other readers obsession with people finding out Leia is from the future and/or related to Padmé/Anakin. As far as I'm conerned, the entire story could progress with that secret never coming out and I would be perfectly happy. Enough of my rambling. Keep up the good work! I've thought about this a lot as questions about the reveal have come and gone at various points in the story. I'm getting a fewer of them these days, but at this point, I think I understand the impulse. My guess is the motive is generally one of two things, one more conscious than the other.

Firstly, I think people are just excited by the idea of the emotions and the drama. Even a vague reveal gives an opportunity for people to be heartbroken on Leia's behalf, patting her on the back or hugging her and consoling her. A specific reveal of things like who she's related to, how and when people died: there's just so much juicy drama in there, so many agonizing feelings to enjoy. And as a writer who pretty good an dragging out the angst in general, I think people get excited with the idea that I would really dip into the pit of misery, that I would draw deeply from that well of agony and make all the characters chug that bitter water. I can see the appeal of this kind of emotionality, but I've also obviously managed to find plenty of misery to slosh around without going that far. Still, I can understand the craving.

Partly because I think the first matter flows into part two, which is catharsis. Some of that is just emotional. Yes, everyone wants the agony of Anakin (let's be real, it's mostly Anakin) realizing the depths of darkness that Leia experienced with Vader. But there's also the payoff on the other side of that. The closeness that could come on the other side. And I think it's assumed that's what would happen because that's sort of the nature of Leia's arc that I've set up. The story begins not with politics, but with Leia's grief. It's not just a background motif. It's a persistent theme, and a character arc that is deeply important to the story. If Don't Look Back ends without clearly showing Leia moving past some stage of her grief, into a happier future, I'll basically have failed as an author. Since Leia's relationship with Anakin is so fraught because of her history with Vader, and since her grief means she aggressively keeps secrets to maintain control, it's pretty reasonable that there are people that assume a plot resolution of this arc will include her revealing the truth to someone. Maybe even many someones. It would be one pretty tangible way to show that growth.

All of their speculation aside, I've got a much better idea at this point of how much Leia is eventually going to reveal, to whom, and when. She may yet surprise me, but I'm much more settled in the beats of the arc of her grief specifically. And I've known pretty much since the beginning how this story was going to end. So everyone will just have to wait and see where we land.

Miasma was the first daughter born into a high nobility family, though she was cast un-named from Menzoberranzan as a babe for her pale colouring was off putting as Lolth bestows red eyes onto her followers, this abomination was clearly an omen.

Of course Sceleritas Fel found the poor little Bhaal babe in the spider pit she was thrown to, following the foul foreboding air that had announced her arrival and whisked her away to start her murder training until she reached her majority.

Never letting her forget how the drow threw her to the spiders as a little snack but not knowing that his dreaded lady was peacefully slumbering amongst her arachnid horde as the scuttled around.

Thus starting a deep hatred for any and all drow races. (And how she chose her own name at the age of 9 after hearing Saverok use the term to describe her.)

Pre-nautiloid:

Without getting into the whole Bhaal/Dead three/Absolution plot.

Once reaching her majority Miasma took over the cult of Bhaal and was actually a very good leader. (Despite it being a murder cult but eh, by the by) she exuded authority, described to be controlled always and exact in all manner of things. She was adored amongst her followers and had gained a deep respect from the older cultists.

Her relationship with Orin initially was a love/hate one. Threats and affection were one and the same, Miasma looked at her as a little sister figure and Orin worshipped Miasma. As Orin grew older her admiration turned to jealousy and then later to distain as Miasma started her ‘correspondence’ with Enver Gortash.

Romance: Miasma and Gortash’s ambitions and desires aligned, leading to their obsession with each other. (Sarcastic, power hungry, drama kings? She has a type 👀 that type being unhinged, twink boiis)

Which, ultimately, leads to miasma getting K.O’d by Orin and a lil wormy shoved in her head. 🐛

Post nautiloid crash:

With nothing but her name and fleeting familiar feelings, Miasma is eh, a little unhinged. Cool and sarcastic and somewhat still controlled, she still gives off an unsettling aura with her just too wide smile (is it normal to have that many teeth?) and the rarely blink, if at all stare.(has she blinked at all during this conversation?)

Besties with Shart and is currently romancing Astarion and fyi, they are OBSESSED with each other. The three of them bond over wine and knife sharpening and bitch about their “ex’s” whilst braiding each other’s hair. (Gale joins them when he in a particular funk over Mystra.)

Romance: As said before, they are obsessed with each other. From the moment they met they’ve been consumed by the other. Take it slow? Never heard of her. They were all in, possesive little gremlins that would and have, kill for each other .

Miasma: Excuse you, you rancid little toad. That is my WIFE!

Shadow heart: *exasperated* they only said ‘Hello’, Mas.
