squid game characters' s3 fate
90% they'll die:
daeho - unfortunately, i think he will die, he has tragedy written all over him, especially since he probably will believe he "failed" his team for not delivering the magazines to them and blaming himself for jungbae's death.
minsu - will probably die defending someone, to parallel how he didn't defend semi.
namgyu - i dont think i need to explain.
myunggi - either he or junhee will live; he is much more likely than her to die tho.
yongsik - either he or geumja will live; after the mingle game, i think he will sacrifice himself for his mama.
gyeongseok - if he's not dead already. if he's still alive, i think they will have him bond with noeul and hyunju, maybe hinting at a romance with hyunju before he dies and noeul will promise to take care of nayeon.
most of junho's team, including wooseok and captain park and kim (the leader of the mercenaries).
not sure:
junhee - either her or myunggi will live; i was sure it was her but then seonnyeo (the shaman lady) freaked me out during the mingle game and made me wonder if she'll die. her baby def won't die tho.
geumja - either her or yongsik will live; since she said that she wouldnt have a life if he died, i'm betting she lives just to make everyone suffer more.
inho - i think he'll sacrifice himself to end the games and kind of earn gihun's forgiveness. if he dies, it will be in gihun's arms tho.
junho - he's the character im most divided over. he will def forgive inho for shooting him and such, and inho will show him how he loves him, perhaps saving him from death, or junho will die protecting inho and dying in his older brother's arms (a nice callback to sangwoo and gihun in s1).
90% they'll live:
gihun - he's gonna suffer more than jesus, but he won't die (he'll just wish he had); also, i need him to reunite with gayeong. he'll probably end up taking care of junhee's baby if she and her terrible ex both die-
noeul - i really want her to get her baby back but i wonder if it's even possible at this point; maybe she will end up taking care of nayeon when gyeongseok dies.
hyunju - i really dont believe she will die, i think we will see her move to thailand to fully begin her life.

I'm not asking for much from Season 3 really. All I want is for Gihun(Player 456), Inho(Frontman/001), and Junho(police officer/Dora the explorer) to come out alive and solve their issues and then "together" go to therapy—which they very much need and have a happily ever after.
For Jun-hee(222) and Myung-gi(333) to solve their issues, raise their child together, and have a happily ever after.
For Daeho(388) to go to therapy and actually find something he likes to do and have a happily ever after.
For Geum-ja(grandma/149) and her son(007) to have a happily ever after.
For Hyun-ju(120) to get some therapy and then for her to go to Thailand and have her gender transition surgery and get a happily ever after.
For Gyeong-seok(246) to get enough money for his daughter's surgery, for his daughter to get well and healthy and for them to live happily ever after.
For No-eul(guard 011) to get some therapy, reunite with her daughter, and have a happily ever after.
For Nam-gyu(124) and Min-su(125) to get therapy and have a happily ever after.
And for all the VIPs to die a slow and painful death while playing and trying to survive their own fucking game.— I don't really mind if player 100 joins too😋👍
That's all, I'm really not asking for much. 😕✌️

Kdrama Series Review: Squid Game Season 3
I just finished Squid Game Season 3—the final season—and I have a lot to get off my chest. If you haven’t watched it yet, just pause here. Go finish. Come back emotionally wrecked. We’ll talk.
Spoilers ahead, obviously.
🟢Let’s start with the good stuff:
007 & 149’s bond wrecked me: The bonding between the son and mother was so good. I cried. We knew one of them wasn’t making it, but the execution was brutal. And so well done.
Kim Jun-hee (222) giving birth: I was expecting this plotline, but her child entering the game? I didn't expect that. It actually weirdly worked. Wild choice, but I respect the boldness.
Seong Gi-hun (456) giving death glares at Kang Dae-ho (388): It was just hilarious. I loved it.
Hwang In-ho (001) was actually a pretty cool and calm-headed character: Honestly, I was way more interested in what he was doing than half the main players.
Cho Hyun-ju dying was actually so sad to watch: Something about it felt so familiar, and then I realized—it echoed Ali’s death from Season 1. The scenes were completely different, but Cho was actually a good person and a good player, just like Ali was. And if you know, you know. It wasn’t just sad—it was gut-wrenching in that familiar Squid Game way.
🔴What Didn't Work:
The games this season felt… underwhelming. After how intense Season 1 and 2 were, these challenges didn’t have the same creativity or pressure. At times, it almost felt like they ran out of ideas and just went with the same formula: climb something → fall off → die. It was like they took the mirror bridge game from Season 1 and copy-pasted it over and over.
The final game was straight-up disappointing. It wasn’t clever. It wasn’t thrilling. It was basically “stand there and push someone.” That’s not a game—that’s a middle school hallway fight. I got bored halfway through watching it.
The ending didn’t hit like it should’ve. The moment that baby entered the game, I had a sinking feeling they were about to give us a forced, “innocence wins” type of finale—and yeah, that’s what happened. No stakes. No real surprise. Just a safe, obvious choice.
The FBI/undercover storyline added nothing. It took up so much time and yet went nowhere. You could cut all of Hwang Junho’s scenes, and the plot would be exactly the same.
VIP scenes were a drag. I don’t know who told them we needed more of those slow, awkward conversations, but it wasn’t me. Every time they popped up, the pacing crashed.
And then they hit us with “the game continues…” scene, like it’s supposed to be dramatic. Bro, what do you mean it continues? 456 is dead for no actual good reason, no one's fighting the system, and the cycle just goes on? That's not an ending—that's just giving up.
🎀What I Wished We Got Instead:
The Front Man joining the game again—maybe as some twisted redemption arc—and dying to end the cycle.
Gi-hun (456) stepping up as the new Front Man and reshaping the system. Give the man a legacy.
The baby and her father, Lee Myung-gi (333), surviving and winning. Or better yet—Gi-hun surviving with the baby and becoming the father he couldn’t be to his own daughter.
OR… if they were going full dark—blast the whole thing down. No survivors, no trace, no continuation. Just closure. That would’ve been cruel, but it would've made a point.
🎀Final Verdict: 🌟 3.5/5 stars
There are things this season did right—mostly the emotional beats—but it lost the tension, the cleverness, and honestly, the heart of what made Season 1 so good. It tried to go big with themes but ended up playing it safe.
🎀Watch it for:
That mother-son arc (you’ll cry)
Kim Jun-hee’s birth plot
You want to add this series in your 'Watched' list
🎀Skip it if:
You’re tired of every “game” being a variation of push-and-fall-to-your-death
You want a finale that actually feels earned, not handed out with baby tears and slow music
You’re not emotionally prepared to watch a literal baby in a death match (yes, that actually happens)
⭕️🔼⏹️💰💀 Will I rewatch season 3? No. ⭕️🔼⏹️💰💀 Am I glad I finished it? Barely. ⭕️🔼⏹️💰💀 Do I still recommend Season 1? Absolutely. That one made sense.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go rewatch Season 1 and pretend this was all a bad dream.

the discussion about season 3 and why i personally hated it (i swear it’s not js hyunju bias)
intense, raw, violent, but still bad somehow. why? TW for season 3 spoilers
— first of all, i really liked how everyone’s mental and psychological state was explored in this season. especially with min su and nam gyu. after feeling like they were literally just dust and a pile of shxt, they manage to recover some of that dignity at the cost of their sanity (with the pills). the thoughts that thanos and semi (and technically even nam gyu for min su) somewhat still haunt them is a pretty nice representation of how drugs mess up your mind. just basically a big showcase of how addiction can fulfill bits of your fear, but it will constantly bring up your own past fears in order to avoid momentary anxiety.
— i have very mixed feelings about dae-ho. he was genuinely one of my favorite characters and i wanted to look more into his backstory, but the director lowkey trashed it by just saying he “was lying about his marine background.” i feel like the concept that his father was a strict marine officer and as the only one, dae-ho being forced to be a part of the marines would’ve made not only so much sense but it would’ve described dae-ho’s character perfectly. however, the personality switch up is something that i would consider semi-realistic and semi-reasonable and something that matches with dae-ho’s canonical backstory now. dae-ho was one of the three survivors of that entire rebellion. he backed out reasonably because he was genuinely scared. he didn’t want to join in, but it’s that subtle peer pressure. it’s not that someone forced him to fight, but that he feels like he /has/ to fight or else everyone’ll condemn him. imagine being forced to get into a practical battlefield out of nowhere with no training, a weapon with barely any ammo, and no armor. dae-ho had every right to be scared, even if it costed the life of many. it was cowardly and the wrong decision, but it wasn’t inaccurate to think his way. and i feel like dae-ho’s crash out is definitely realistic. why? because it’s a representation of guilt. he feels guilty over everyone’s death and failing everyone. but he doesn’t know /how/ to express it. especially after he saw everyone’s corpses now, he feels like gi hun is judging him with that stare. he feels judged; he knows it’s his fault but he’s terrified to admit it.
— i personally wish dae-ho had more screen time and a better screenwriter for his backstory. he could have been such a complex character with a nice, clean death that symbolized all of his past actions and behavior. i will also discuss abt gihun at the end.
— hyunju, junhee, and geum ja trio were the three characters that were handled the best in this season. jun hee genuinely showed her maternal determination and it was a nice wrap up to her character. the season demonstrated her character, personality, and goals very clearly. geum ja’s death was agonizing, but i expected it, just not in the format in which she died in. i thought she would’ve died in hide and seek or even the jump rope, but i can see why sxicide also fits her character’s death nicely. she played a major part in this season, i don’t see enough glazing of her. now for hyunju. i genuinely expected her to 1v1 gihun at the end. but her death in hide and seek does show her personality quite well. she acknowledges success and power, but she chose to risk it for the two people she genuinely cared about (though she lost the gamble but saved the other two in response). ultimately, her selflessness overpowered her determination and actually ended hand in hand. saddening and devastating but fitting death.
— yong sik’s death seriously ached me like i genuinely loved him so much. i hoped to see him straighten up, go batshit, and kill someone then return with fear to his mother, but eventually, he couldn’t. and please don’t blame geum ja too much y’all. she felt a surge of adrenaline to protect another mother. her fears were too channeled and it caused her to act out of hand (like how a child screams at a parent in the heat of an argument, but then regrets it). geum ja and yong sik deserved a better ending though.
— nam gyu died in the way i genuinely think fits him. side antagonist, mentally unstable, overly dependent on pills and crazed. similarly with min su, though as one of the semi-main cast that made it to the last game, i expected more.
— myung gi’s character is just a jumble of mix that i can’t understand. one second he’s risking it all for his ‘family’ and the next he’s tryna kill them. he faced a villainous and violent death which i didn’t anticipate, but at least it showed his true feelings about the concept of a family. good thing he didn’t win; he would’ve been a horrible father. i hate 333 x 222. one of the worst ships here.
— there were multiple characters whose backstories were left out in the open and some of them didn’t even get proper personality reveals even though they made it to be last few survivors. i kinda hated that. and the multiple people last round kinda annoyed me too. the 1v1 in season 1 was the best one so far.
— overall, i feel like everyone’s death explain their character and who they truly are. it explains their inner personality, goals, and ideals. i really liked that since well, people say that humans show their true colors at the face of death.
— season 3 however was bad because of one major component: lack of mc. the main character, seong gi-hun, didn’t feel like an mc at all. in season 1, they juggled his character very well and showed parts of him that felt like he was supposed to survive and make a change in history. but season 3, they literally eradicated gihun’s existence until the last episode then killed him off (which i genuinely didn’t expect but could tell after myung gi’s death). season 3 was too focused on side characters and trying to portray the background people, but director hwang, you literally have an mc. focus on HIS interactions with other characters.
— season 1 was the best season. the sangwoo gihun fight was a display of raw human emotion and energy. it showed gihun’s growth and a showcase of how he couldn’t change his devastation even with practically an infinite sum of money. he ended up broken and shattered nonetheless. it should’ve ended at season 1. season 2 was lost in plot and season 3 was too rushed in trying to kill everyone off. overall, i didn’t like season 3, but i did like some aspects that they did explore. feel free to disagree in the replies.
— also, gyeong suk and no eul genuinely had more prominence than gihun bro. the two most side characters became main out of nowhere, so it felt icky. and the entire ordeal with jun ho was also more like a side show panel than a true part of the plot cause practically nothing other than jun ho’s realization of the games and his brother changed. i expected jun ho to kill in ho but no, it’s just another goodbye with no explanation.
— unpopular opinion but in ho should’ve died. it would’ve wrapped his character perfectly, but they dragged him on endlessly. he’s the perfect antagonist with a past and there was none of that explored except for that murderous scene with the knife and last game (though that explained a lot about him as a character and his role as frontman). but what happened to his wife? how did he become frontman? why did he agree? what happened? all unanswered and disappointing.
— practically everyone’s predictions were wrong except for 333 is gonna be a finalist. i preferred the fan theories over ts. season 1 should’ve been the only season. season 2-3 were just like fillers in naruto. ima pretend i never watched them.

thoughts on the stills released 📸
I can't lie, my heart beat a little faster at the thought of player 246 (park gyeong-seok) being in the coffin but I'm hoping it's not him 🥲
Tumblr media
some have guessed it may be jung-bae's corpse in the coffin :(
there's a possibility that the cliffhanger won't lead to anything and that it may just be over for 246 but I'm optimistic it's not the last we'll see of him yet. otherwise it would be a complete waste of the narrative they've built and the (admittedly meagre) screen time spent on doing so.
Tumblr media
others have speculated that 011 seemingly being outside would lead to her smuggling 246 out of there. hopefully they pull it off, but that's one thing I'm not optimistic about. I don't think all of the characters will go home safe and sound but a girl can dream. that aside, I'd love to see no-eul have more to do this following series. I understand it's a tall order to fit every character's story in the span of a half-series but no-eul and gyeong-seok were the two of the first character introductions made and it seemed like they had significant storytelling arcs but those sort of fell to the wayside as the games went on. I know that the nature of the mid-series cut affected the storytelling as a whole, but I just wanted to talk about it a little bit :)

i watched both seasons of squid game with my mom! this is what she had to say
(for the record, i watch it by myself in korean because i heavily prefer it, but with my mom we watch the english dub — it’s easier for her to understand)
SEASON 1
like a lot of people, she disliked gi-hun at the start but ended up adoring him as the series progressed
“i hate sang-woo, i hope he dies a miserable and painful death”
not even joking when i say she told me she’d stop watching if i kept obsessing over jun-ho so much 😭 (i just got a little excited when he came on screen okayyyy)
she predicted jun-ho’s brother being the frontman VERY quickly, like episode 5 i think? she did not predict il-nam being the creator tho
she really liked sae-byeok, and HATED the thugs, she kept calling them greasy frogs and wishing death upon them
“he’s not dead” - her when jun-ho “died” (good job mom you have media literacy)
apparently her favorite s1 game was glass bridge, but she always complains about how much she hated the bridge exploding (fair)
SEASON 2
she absolutely ADORED gyeong-seok and his daughter, and had mixed feelings on no-eul
“he looks high and gay” - her @ nam-gyu
she also started fucking smiling when thanos died?? like ok mom damn ig 😭
“i don’t like him. i don’t like him at all” her @ in-ho
“you know nam-gyu? i think he’s gonna kill himself” - “yeah. he should.” - “oh.”
with hyun-ju my mom kinda started off similarly to geum-ja — misgendering and being a bit rude to her, but later ended up respecting her and being nice
she exclusively referred to min-su as “derek” for some reason?? 💀
“BAD BOY” - her @ in-ho
her favorite game from season 2 was the six-legged pentathlon (same tbh)
tbh watching with her went a lot better than expected- she hated it at first (violence) but over time she got used to it and her backhanded comments became funny, she said she really liked it despite the violence and although it isn’t something she’d seek out independently, she enjoyed it
and now we wait for season 3! i’m watching it first with my watch buddy when it comes out (we have plans already 😎🫰) but i’m going to rewatch it with my mother
