btw, just putting it out there that my hope for the Helluva Boss endgame is Stolas abdicating his Royal title and privileges and going to live with Blitzø and working for IMP as their accountant.

Clearly, they have a lot of paperwork that they currently push onto one of their assassins (Full Moon) and Stolas has been established as a nerd who loves reading loads of boring paperwork (Oops).

It would also tie in nicely with the conversation they had as kids (The Circus), and make it serve as very cute if on-the-nose foreshadowing.

What's this blog about?:

This is where we will be posting stories that we have collaborated on together, cause there's quite a few. Currently all of our stories are AU based, but we might potentially post fully original stories later on. Keep in mind not all of our stories are posted yet because we'd like to tie up some loose ends and/or we haven't finished designing everything we'd want to before making it public. Also keep in mind neither of us are professionals and these stories are for fun! Also this blog is probably going to be 13+, slightly inappropriate but no NSFW.

Light of Cania

((A mini pre-RP drabble before @im-the-reckless and I write a continuation of it as a thread))

     Spells and arrows whizzed through the air. The very atmosphere was charged with panic and dread, reinforced by shouted commands and screams of those who fell in battle. Who could fare against an army of the deathless flooding the denizens of the prime material plane? The longer the forces of Waterdeep held against the pressing battalions, the more it became clear that there was little they could do but slow down the march of spirits.

     Those who met Mephistopheles’s army on the battlefield knowingly answered to their deaths. For Waterdeep, for Faerun, for Toril. Either they could die trampled under the cloven hooves of the duke of the hells, or they could die with honor in a last stand.

     Durnan, owner of the Yawning Portal Inn, had forged something of a collaboration with the legendary Halastar. The mad wizard and the retired adventurer faced the storm together, united by necessity despite being at odds with one another. Back to back they flung spells as brothers in arms - something each never could have guessed would be in their futures. Together they would face hell and stand their ground at its approach, even if it meant they would not live to walk away. 

     When the bleak reality of the war reached its zenith, a light from another plane pierced through the sky. It was no force of lightning or strike of thunder - no, instead it was the Light of Cania. Kagita’ar the Heartseeker. She arrived with a flash of luminescence, as though summoned by providence, the tiefling weapons master at her command as faithfully as he’d remained through their trek.

     Shocked into a momentary stillness, Halaster and Durnan turned to see the figure of the Sembian elf they once believed to be dead. She materialized before their eyes as a vision of salvation - whole, hearty, and ready to put hell back in its place.

     Any words shared between Mhyrcala and Durnan were short and to the point - she bade him to take the soldiers to safety, and the innkeeper’s face grew grim.

     “Then may the gods grant you strength,” Durnan bade her with a slow nod, a poignant look as though he felt he were sending her to her death. “With every battle, Mephistopheles grows in power. We’ve had reports that he’s on his way here. I’ll order my men to pull back when he arrives... you’re our only hope, Mhyrcala.”

     In a blast of hellfire and sulfur, the earth cracked and another burst of light lit the sky - this one followed by a hellish overcast of red fog that invaded the air around them.

     Mephistopheles reared his horned head, here at last to obliterate the last stand of the ragged Waterdhavian forces. Enormous batlike wings blocked out the sun as they spread outwards. Were it not such a horrific sight, it could have been described as magnificent. Grinning a devil’s grin, the duke struck the earth with the end of his great staff and cracks spiderwebbed at the ground beneath their feet.

     “Fall back! Fall back!”

     Just in time, the severed devil’s hand in Mhyrcala grappled a lightpost stationed on higher ground, yanking the elf and the tiefling to safety. The others were not so lucky - Durnan and Halaster teleported away, only managing to secure a fraction of the forces that stood among them. Lava bubbled up from the split cobbles and good men burned alive there in the streets before the wave of Mephistopheles’s staff dismissed the elements. With another strike, Mhyrcala and Valen were summoned to stand before a Duke of Hell.

     Now, it was only the prophetical savior and her tiefling companion that stood against the archdevil of Cania...

DUNGEON OF THE MAD MAGE SPOILERS

I love the dungeon of the mad mage

There is a SECRET ROOM on level 1 room 2 with a ominous statue glowing purple that does nothing and actualy is just a verry big candle holder

There's also a PSYCHIC grey ooze they hides in sewage thats at the bottom of this room which is slanted

And the room is hinted at by a keku skeleton specifically placed there to point at the door and the whole thing is just a fucking prank and its amazing and im judt gonna play halastar as a prankster old dude

“ What a fuckin’ mess this is. ” And boy howdy what a mess it was! Zombies, ghosts, possessions, a whole slew of bullcrap for the entire city to deal with. Yet even with how bad this was it sure could get a whole lot worse. At the very least there weren’t werewolves and other monstrosities running amok. Though given how cruel the bastards who brought everyone here were it was a definite possibility. Regardless of all that the Boss was fairing quite decently during this hell. It’s a been there done that sort of deal. If anything he at least appreciated the murder, yet fighting zombies didn’t have the same je ne sais quoi that killing regular people did.

So a break would be needed, hence why one could find the crime lord/fakey fake businessman situated on a rooftop somewhere just watching the chaos. “ Mm, should’ve brought snacks. Maybe a six-pack too. Shame. ”

Another possibility for other large creatures that don't fit through the entrence of where they ostensibly live that I have learned of:

A wizard teleported them there because fuck you.

More specifically in the adventure module I've been running "Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage", Halastar Blackcloak the eponymous Mad Mage and powerful Archwizard quite literally spent centuries designing his dungeon ecology using his vast arcane power to get everything just right.

This includes but is not limited to:

Teleporting or otherwise leading in local or exotic wildlife, commumities of various sentient species, a family of giants, a cult currently headed by a dragon, a pirate ship with crew, and an entire Drow House.

Terraforming the various underground floors to include ecosystems and structures such as verdant forests, dank swamps, magma lands, a noble family's estate, a magic academy, the previously mentioned pirate ship, and a floating castle.

And also putting protections insuring that no one can manipulate or teleport around the dungeon willy-nilly without his permision, if you want to reach the bottom of this dungeon you are going to see all 23 floors he worked hard on and you're going to like it.

In short, if you're willing to deal with the questions it raises in worldbuilding, you can quite easily justify placing a large monster in a room it can't enter/exit by saying "A Wizard Did It."

While “dungeon ecology” is a contradiction in terms, Dungeons & Dragons lore actually does address whole “randomly encountering a dragon in a cave with no entrances large enough to admit it” problem.

In D&D‘s default milieu, most adult dragons are natural shapeshifters, innate spellcasters, or both, so it’d be rare to encounter a large dragon that doesn’t have some means of stuffing itself into a lair whose approaches are all too small for its true form to pass.

Some types of dragons are even described as preferring such lairs because they’re less likely to be bothered by other high-level monsters while they sleep.

It’s dumb as hell, but it’s internally consistent!
