I’m still unconvinced that the hate for amber isn’t rooted in racism against black women. She was very reminiscent of many intellectual young black women with goals and a passion for change. The prejudice fandom was the issue. The fandom expecting her to be some ride or die(typical) and when she wasn’t they projected the ‘sapphire’ stereotype on to her. Some people chalk it up to bad writing but it’s more nuanced since they decided to change her race from the comics.

Sidebar: none of the female characters pass the Bechtel test anyway.

For most of her screen time she was always agreeing to marks false promises and left feeling neglect and uncertainty for the relationship. She continuously forgave him and grounded him. I’m sure she knew the stress he was under for being a superhero but ultimately things were not going to workout if he was going to keep lying about it and not TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY.

So amber held him accountable. Called him out for lying and put him on the hot seat…….

this might be odd for me to say because i talk about them constantly but jon and damian still being friends in main continuity is weird to me. they didn’t really grow up together because i’m really not even sure if jon and damian knew each other for a full year before he left space and as of right now, all of jon’s relationships are much older than damian and damian is making friends of his own and considers jon to be “someone that left him behind” i don’t see the reason to keep them around each other i’m not gonna lie, how can they still consider each other best friends? i’m also of the opinion right now that i don’t care about jon kent and just want damian to be happy.

Why does it take something like the LA wildfires for people to realize that American lives are human lives?

This is about to be nothing like my usual content, if that bothers you, don’t like don’t read.

I’m so fucking sick of people from other countries pretending to care about shit that goes down in America when two seconds ago you were making school shooting jokes, police force jokes, fat-shaming the whole fucking nation. Name me one other country where it’s socially acceptable for the rest of the world to laugh in the face of genuine atrocities because “well, it’s their fault, so they deserve it.” I’ll wait.

“We can laugh about the school shootings; we can laugh about the suicides from the survivors years after; we can laugh about the children who learn how to smear their classmates’ blood on their faces so the shooter thinks they’re dead too.” Because it’s our own fault for not having gun control laws, right? Because we deserve it?

“We can laugh about the racism built into the police force that leads to unchecked brutality, abuse, and wrongful killings; we can laugh about the years or life sentences of innocent incarceration.” Because it’s our own fault for letting the wrong people have power, right? Because we deserve it?

Oh, but you’re allowed to give a shit about the fires now that it’s nature’s fault. Now that it’s out of our control. We’re too stupid, arrogant, pig-headed, and lazy to deserve a scrap of empathy or godforbid decency, but once we’re a news report of a blackened corpse found in the cinders of a childhood home, now it’s okay to care?

Newsflash: The fires are our fault, too. The vast majority of wildfires, especially those in densely populated states, are caused by human activity: campfires left unattended, people fucking around with telephone wires where they shouldn’t, fireworks set off in the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s not lightning, it’s not the sun, it’s not global warming. It’s still humans.

So by that logic, you should still be laughing. Because it’s our own fault, right? Because we deserve it?

American life is irrelevant to the rest of the world, overshadowed by the hubris of the loudest voices and the funniest stereotypes. When the fires are finally out and the death toll isn’t as fresh in your mind, you’ll be laughing at this, too.
