izuku only sleeps with the lights off.

it isn't uncommon; many people you know can't sleep with even just a sliver of light turned on somewhere in the room. but the difference with izuku, you learn, is not that he's unable to stand the light―it's that he refuses to.

you quickly pick up on it the first few times he sleeps over.

he fidgets in bed, pretty badly, actually. the nightlight you sleep with glows a warm yellow, illuminating the side of your face and coating him in its afterglow. you chalk it up to nerves, how he pulls at his sleeves and adjusts his position constantly; he is, after all, one of the most anxious people you know.

and this relationship―it's new. heck, even you feel a little jittery with his arm wrapped around you.

the rhythmic tapping on your hip only increases pace. you don't think he realizes it, so your hand gently reaches for his, intertwining your fingers as you turn around in his arms.

he's close, nearly touching you nose-to-nose; the proximity leaves you fuzzy, a little ticklish, so you giggle, a soft "oops," as the freckles dusting his face almost glisten under the warm light.

"hi," you whisper, meeting his eyes; they stare back at you wide in surprise, "can't sleep?"

he looks almost guilty at your question, as if you’ve caught him with the one thing he's been trying to keep from you.

"just—" his voice comes out louder than intended, prompting him to chuckle nervously as he readjusts his volume, "just winding down, sorry."

you inch closer, nuzzling his nose lightly, "it's okay."

"did i wake you?" he asks, cheeks flushing pink as his eyebrows furrow in immediate concern. his expression is something caught between stifling a grin and feeling sorry.

you shake your head against the pillow you share, strands of your hair tangling with his. "just winding down," you tease, watching as his gaze turns softer, eyelids drooping heavier.

sometimes, you think, izuku holds the world in his eyes―a deep, dark green, the color of life. most times, they look at you with wonderment, bright and alive; photos from inko tell you they're the eyes of his inner child.

on nights like this one, however, they hide a depth in them weighted by what you can only assume is time, and all that has happened to him in such a short span of it.

you try your best to understand what lies beneath them, knowing full well he'll never tell you outright what truly bothers him.

"is it the light?" you bring up, some time after laying in silence.

"hm?" he clarifies.

"do you have a hard time sleeping with the nightlight?"

his eyes widen briefly once more, as if shocked that you've caught him again. these split second reactions are ones you've learned to be attentive to when it comes to izuku.

"no," he tries to lie, but you know better as you turn to your nightstand and reach for its switch, "you don't–"

"it was hurting my eyes," you quickly make up an excuse, tucking yourself closer under his chin as you cut off his attempt to deny it again.

finding out that the light was the problem was the easy part—

you'd begun to notice much earlier on that izuku was barely rested on the nights he'd spend at your place. it was only when your old nightlight broke that you began to notice him waking up much later than you did, groggily rousing from a deep sleep.

—what was hard, was figuring out why.

at first, you suspected it was his scars.

"s-sorry, it's not—" he'd warned you, right as your hands gripped the hem of his shirt the first time you were about to have sex, "—it's not nice."

you didn't care though; you still don't care, and you've made that abundantly clear to him since. you love izuku and all his parts―all the nicks and jaggedy pieces of skin that make up who he is.

when you eventually ask him about it, with a request that he be honest with you for once, he tells you that it is and it isn't―the reason why he exclusively sleeps with the lights off, that is.

it's an odd, comforting relationship he has with his body—that he is simultaneously grateful and sorry for how its become a canvas, both painted and marred to symbolize japan’s historic last stand.

you find out the real reason when you catch him staring at his hands.

he does it often, when he thinks you aren't looking—his fists bunched up in the same way he used to watch the power of one for all course through his fingertips; the same way he used to prepare them in battle.

there’s a faraway look in his eyes that lingers, you notice—a little wistful if anything.

“do you miss it?” you finally ask. he gives you the same shocked look he does every time, as if he’s been caught with a secret he’s been trying to hide.

he’s learned a fair bit about you now, too, though—lying to you is futile when you’ve perfected reading his truth. he stares at his fists again as you take a seat beside him, moving to give you space. you rest your head on his shoulder gently, waiting.

“sometimes,” he admits, but you know it’s an understatement.

“i think about the vestiges a lot. i miss them the most, i think,” he continues, clenching his fists tightly, “i always try to reach out to them, but i guess it doesn’t work that way.”

“i… i try to replicate the right conditions every night, but…” then he lets go, stretching his fingers out wide. the scars on the surface ripple through his skin, telling its own story.

you hum, acknowledging what he means. silence sits with the two of you as you take his hand in yours, slowly unfurling his fingers until his palm reveals itself to you. it’s rough to the touch, seasoned with hard work and all that he’s been through.

“is that why you prefer the dark?” you ask softly, after some time.

it's not often that you stay up later than izuku does. when you do though, you catch him shifting in bed, moving from side-to-side. you pretend you aren't awake, but you hear him mumble their names, dwindling in volume as he dozes off to sleep.

he stares at his palm for a moment before he admits quietly, "yeah." his brows furrow as if contemplating whether to say more, but he shakes his head, dark green strands swaying to the beat of his embarrassed chuckle, "nevermind, it's silly."

"it's not."

you intertwine your fingers, sandwiching his hand between yours. a slight sheen glosses over his eyes as he tilts his head up to look at you. he draws in a breath, before it spills over.

"it's..." he finds the words, and you squeeze his hand in comfort, "it's easier to believe it was all real when the lights are out, and that maybe it can happen again."

im curious on your ideas with team mafia and sapnap in the vampire AU 👀

also consider a scenario where Dream did get captured and one of the bitten ones do get captured (potentially Technoblade considering the time he was stuck with dream in pandoras vault). But also the bitten one managing to get a warning out to the rest which leads to different vampires planning how to save Dream

Bad and Sam wanting to help because they have a soft spot for dream and his friends (Sam more for dream than his friends but those are important for Dream! and therefore important to him!) and just in general their familiarity with them and care

Team Mafia wanting to help because Dream is important to Sapnap (and maybe it will make Sapnap more willing to become a fledgling.) (though this scenario just makes Sapnap scared of becoming a fledgling. Dream got captured and hurt and used for being one. it could put his family in danger. well *more* in danger)

There's too many ideas with Team Mafia and Sapnap tbh but a lot of it is them pestering and annoying Sapnap eheh (Dream is Not happy with the bombardment of scents Sapnap returns with after every encounter with Team Mafia)

In my head Team Mafia are the kind of vampires that kinda go against a lot of usual vampire norms. Not necessarily on purpose, that's just how they roll pfft

Like. First off. They're nomadic. Vampires traveling is odd! They usually stay in the place they were turned or move to a town nearby. Rarely is there some kind of vampire adventurer. Mostly cause Vampires have the instinct to set up a nest and that is Home. And moving or destroying it is not.....great. Very distressing!

Team Mafia are just. Unique. Nest isn't a cozy area to sleep. Nest is each other. Can't separate them for too long or they get antsy!

Something something the guys are just all kind of abandoned fledglings and were able to "grow up" and care for each other. Yep!

There is like a lot of stuff I take from that video and don't end up saying it outright here (oops). But Team Mafia are more based on the "Modern" vampire. And by that. I mean the Hollywood kind of vampire. Not twilight, older than that haha really early Hollywood vampire. It fits them well. (Debonair and erotic LMAO)

Anyways! They end up finding Sapnap hunting in the forest, they were just in their usual travels. Tbf they thought they were gonna find a baby fledgling and instead found a human who smells like one (they didn't realize at first it was Dream scenting him lmao).

They're very touchy very quickly. They threaten drinking his blood often :3c

That kinda clicks in Sapnap, oh. Even bitten are scary...cause Sapnap is genuinely scared of being taken by these guys. They've shown how stronger they are than him, they'll take him away from Dream and George and there's nothing he can do about it :(!!!

Until. A few days of this happening and he gets used to it pft Serpias would whine that he misses hearing Sapnap's heart racing :/

But it's the lot of them tossing Sapnap around and trying to scare him constantly cause they like hearing a human heart go crazy heh They think it's cute!

But they gotta leave eventually :/

Surely....they could....take Sapnap :) They've never actually sired a fledgling between the all of them, can't be /that/ hard, they all were able to develop without a Sire plenty fine :^D! Anyways! I haven't thought too far where I've considered who is the Dream rescue squad lmao

I do like to think that there is a vampire in the hunter squad that finds and takes Dream. Only cause. I like the imagery of Sapnap and George trying to prevent them from taking Dream. They see the hunters there and try to reason with the vampire at their side...

"They'll kill him! Don't you care?"

"No."

It's the vampire drinking from Sapnap and George, Dream being dragged away seeing them bleeding out. He can't even vocalize and call out to them, he has no bond to feel if they're still alive, he has no sire blood in him to help tap into any vampiric abilites to try and fight back....he's never felt more worthless...

Which is. The plan really. A distressed fledgling is a great beacon to attract bittens. Lucky for them one was on his way for his monthly visit to his favorite homeless fledgling. But the smell of blood. Is distressing. Something is Wrong.

It is Techno finding snf, taking them to Bad to help recover, and then going to find dream. Telling Bad if he doesn't come back by sunrise, well....let's hope that's not the case.

I wanna say Sam is actually left behind if Bad does go because he is still considered Fledgling too. He'd be super mad about it, staring down at unconscious snf. His own baby instincts revving up and starting to mad cry. "You two promised you'd take care of Dream. I told you guys that humans weren't enough. Now he's gone." He's very upset :(...but he'll make sure snf are stable with the help of Skeppy. Because Dream would want them alive.

I wanna say this happens a little over a year since Dream died. They got through the winter. The three of them got through what they thought was going to be the hardest part of this journey. Learning so much more about the world and all that jazz. Too bad the town got too suspicious of them and finally called the hunters in.

It's how I would tie in Team Mafia also getting involved. They promised they'd come back in a year, they'd send letters and stuff to check up but they're a travelling bunch (they'll try next year to convince Sapnap to join them. And maybe his other two friends too heh) Maybe only a couple or so of them went way ahead of everyone else cause they were excited. (My way of not making it too op against the hunters lmao)

Only to come across an empty cave with a concerning amount of dried blood....

One of them needing to stay at the cave for when the rest of the group arrives, another going to the nearby town to follow Sapnap's scent(finding sapnap awake. Sapnap is scared. Scared of their sharp teeth and red eyes). Another going to follow Dream's(they diverge, which is strange, their scents are always mixed with each and yet...), maybe finding Bad along the way.

I think at the end of it all. Snf would be faced with needing to give Dream up to one of the many Vampires willing to take him as a their fledgling. Broken out of Dream's weird baby aura and finally realizing they really /can't/ take care of Dream. It's tough.

I actually really like your interpretation of that line about his ex wife !! I left it pretty open so people can hc whatever they want :3c In my personal hc, he really did love her immensely, but he kept hurting her unintentionally by never being around, never giving her what she needed because of his work, etc. ​Just one of those "it wasn't meant to be" relationships. (Also, other random hc, but Nik was here at Price's wedding, he got along really well with his ex wife, but everything about it broke his fucking heart over and over again. Oops 💔)

And I'm so glad you pointed out the banters during the smut scene !! It's my favorite thing to do honestly !! To me, sex scenes don't have to be so serious all the time, I like when characters communicate while it's happening, I like when they're laughing together <3 And these two have so much shared history that it just makes sense to me !!

CLOTHING okay:

1. Sweatpants. Comfy :) that's literally it lmao I like how they look, I am a very *tight top loose pants / loose pants tight top* kinda girl. If I wanna go out, that is. If inside I'm usually loose x loose because I eepy n lazy n cute like dat

2. Oversized tees. Are you seeing a theme 😏. I jost likeee it okai. Comfy n snuggly >>> plus I like the way they fall on me, I have quite wide shoulders n they look good as they fall.

3. Odd socks. 30% rejection of societal norms because I am edgy and cool as such, 70% convenience decided at the age of 11 because I don't have to find the other matching sock (insane quality of life improvements)

4. Short ish shorts / skirts, with chunky boots / shoes. I've always liked the combo hehe. Think big jumper or hoodie or whatever, cute skirt or shorts, either bare legs / fishnets / thigh highs, and some cool boots >:) = zoie

5. Uhm ! I ran out 🧍🏻‍♂️I put them all in number four like a silly guy. HAHA let's say my f/os clothing >:3c anything that does not belong to me !! But them instead !! Mmmmh yes I will live in it. They enjoy that too though so is fine, might be a one way ticket to pound town though because they're all a bit possessive oop. I do not !! ;) do it on purpose~

I’ve been rambling about my modern au for a while so maybe I’ll do the mythical creatures thing that’s been knocking around my brain. This time :D

Have you ever heard of a Peryton? They’re essentially winged deer who are the Guardians of the Forest. Fierce and intense, magically haunting. Very cool. Some people’s interpretations have them with these really wicked fangs.

And thunderbirds!! They’re like coated in lightning and I have got to get my hands on more information on them. They’re so cool!

Which of course made me go hmmm what if, what if. And I play fast and loose with everything when I write because it’s more fun for me that way… so LU mythical creatures. I’ve seen it done a few times and LOVE the concept;

Twilight is harder than expected when you don’t want to take the easy way out. I’ve been playing with the idea of a version of Peryton for him, more wolf than deer, BUT then I remembered that Black Shucks are a mythic, ghostly dog-like creature that exist and it kind of fits in the most spooky sense. Depending on where you look at the mythos, they’re either menacing (malevolent also but eh) or companionable omens of death that usually roam a coastline. There’s also church grims, which often take the form of a black dog, and guard church cemeteries. So playing fast and loose, as I do, I thought Twilight could be the more companionable, omen bearing Black Shuck in his Mythic form and then by the time he meets Wild in BOTW, he’s more spirit-like and is more akin to a Church Grim… just on a more personal level. I think it would be a fun little idea to play with instead of meeting Wild on the Plateau and have him be like “guarding” the Shrine… Wild meets him in Blatchery Plains where he actually died and that’s where they meet.

Sky would be some form of Thunderbird and nothing will change my mind on this. It fits. SO WELL. At least from what little I remember from previous research dives on the subject. I also originally had planned to have Sky be the reason that the Faron region changes from being a big growth forest in Twi’s time to the lightning infested jungle of BOTW/TOTK. It was gonna be because he was visiting Twi, who if I had left him as a Peryton would have been bound to the forest he guarded, which was planned to be Faron! Obviously I’ve changed that somewhat… but I still like the idea so I may find a way to work it back in.

I don’t like to take the easy routes when doing these kinds of concepts, not because I look down on them but more because I like the challenge. So Hyrule is giving me a little trouble because he’s canonically got fae blood. So like fae or even changeling… but changelings are a type of fae so of course I’m going to go all in on that (and get horribly distracted because doppelgängers are a type of fae, what that’s so cool) and it’s lead me down a rabbit hole. So more on Hyrule another day…

Wind is also giving me fits because he’s going to be something ocean related and it’s gotta fit his nature, so there’s Cephali which are a type of Sea fae and then there’s others that are more commonly thought of, but I could make him something wind related a novel idea I know which means more research to be done! I had some other ideas, like mythos or superstition believed by sailors to draw inspiration for but like I said more research.

Wild! Is! A! Church Grim! Also! But he’s gonna be an amalgamation like Twi. Dryad calls to me for him, but I want to do a little more digging because it’s gonna be a connection thing for him. He’s a church grim, but all of Hyrule is the cemetery :3c hehe oops

Time is 100% a changeling. Hands down. No explanation needed. He may become something else after events of TP, he may not, we will see. I will saying nothing else because mans needs to be mysterious. It may change if I stumble across something more interesting though

Legend is a kitsune (which is also!! A type of fae!! It falls into fae rules. Very interesting.) but they’ve got that same tenuous relationship with being perceived as good versus not good. In a lot of myths, they’re the messengers of the sun goddess… which feels fitting for Legend since he’s been on the most adventures! The more intense Good vs Bad in their mythos also feels fitting because Ravio is also a kitsune! While mythos says they’re fox spirits… I don’t follow rules so they’re bunnies. Heh.

Warriors is going to be my only one without anything as of yet. I want to do more research into mythic creatures and spirits more associated with war and just haven’t had the time yet. Maybe this weekend. Some of these wouldn’t have “true forms” while on their adventure through time together… so it would be interesting to have TOTK events happen post LU events and have Wild contend with how changed his brothers have become in the years (millennia for then really) since they traveled together.

currently reading: uh i'm like always reading the six of crows by leigh bardugo i will open that book consume the Content and then close it whenever i feel like reading parts of it........ actually reading thru a full book currently no....not really but lets say crooked kingdom yeah

current obsession: mayhaps this question is pointless but i am deep in an autistic hyperfixation on bg3 which is showing no signs of dying down or stopping i will also say i am hyperfixating on gale himself and honestly my oc afhiri. and i think its safe to say illithids too i cannot stop myself from gobbling up information on them and i think about them just as much as the others ...........

sweet, savory, or spicy? i will sayy savoury!!!! i do like sweet but not as much . i am currently really obsessed with gravy..... not american gravy or whatever the bwi'ish kind.......... had to confirm that because i ain't got a fucking clue what american gravy is like . but i know its different!!!!!! due to my very english upbringing i never consumed spice ever in my life until i started to introduce it into my own diet a year ago and now i can eat things that say spicy just fine!! and they are very delicious. i really enjoy spicy noodles especially

currently working on: I HAVE TWO AFHIRI GALE FIC WIPS CURRENTLY ... :3c one of them is a cute domestic scene i'm writing through aislings influence and the other is a fat and large post game 3 years later fic that i cannot describe in any way than a psychological horror fic. :).....

Need I say more? Feral Anakin my beloved. When he is in his Vader era, he has those intense sith eyes (which something something I find very attractive on him something something) he is constantly scowling and his voice gets a bit lower and rougher sounding and we are not even going to get into the part that lead to this screenshot! Whew boy, he's so aggressive. Makes me feel w e a k ♡ this man gets my pulse quickening like no other I swear—

While I hate that he had a nightmare I cannot say that I do not like this scene, I'm only human and he is insanely attractive so seeing him half naked kind of drives me crazy. His hair is clinging to his forehead, he's skin has a thin sheen of sweat on it, you get a nice view of his prosthetic and dear lord as mentioned on my other blog his pj bottoms are just a little too low to not have me staring and wanting to mark up every bit of exposed skin AHEM a-anyways...

Tl;dr: my boyfriend actually makes me feel insane with ....well everything! Insane with love, insane with want and need he drives me crazy and I hope he never stops~
