#helluva boss rewrite?

Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel from a Christian perspective:

I'm expecting to possibly get some negative feedback from this, but I'm okay with that.

So, some of you folks might know that I'm a Christian. I grew up in church, so Jesus is my homie. I'm deeply against the toxicity and hatred in the church today. A while back I decided to check out Helluva Boss to see what all the fuss was about. It's an interesting show, and it prompts ideas for discussions.

Granted, it has flaws, and I've heard that Vivziepop shares many negative beliefs that I've seen in the church. Just watching the show and reading up on the lore, I feel like Vivzie or at least some people on the writing team may have deep religious trauma. Who could blame them with all the horrible things done in the name of God.

I do like some of the worldbuilding, and it's only a human response to laugh at the occasional dick joke. (I like sinners and such taking on an appearance based on how they died) There are many things I would probably do differently. I can't see lucifer as a good guy due to my upbringing. I just can't, I'm sorry. But I do find sympathetic demon characters interesting.

The difference between Heaven and Hell has me thinking of how people can be born into unfortunate situations, living in misery for their whole lives because nobody bothers to change the system. It's a very interesting analogy.

If I were to write the show, I'd have The Church be the main antagonist, as opposed to Heaven itself. Idk, this made more sense in my head. Either that or do something similar to Bloodborne, I'll be honest, there's deep rooted evil in the modern christian church. I feel like a lot of these people who push for anti-gay laws and preach doomsday cult stuff won't find themselves in heaven. Folks like that only push people away.

I also think the show has a similar problem to Dragon Ball Z, in that the lore isn't planned out. Writing lore as you go, as opposed to having a plan from the start, will create inconsistencies in said lore. It's frustrating for writers and fans who like to do in-depth media analysis.

If I were to write my own version of HB and HH, it probably wouldn't even be the same show anymore. My upbringing would just leave a different mark on things that not all people would like. Given my impression of the fandom, I feel like creating my own version would be like showing a Brazilian Black Tarantula to someone who's deathly afraid of spiders and has been hurt by them in the past. The result would be someone understandably fleeing from anything even somewhat resembling what hurt them.

In conclusion, I'll keep observing this fandom. I'm not sure if I even consider myself part of it, because my upbringing makes me feel like something of an outsider. But I can agree on certain things, like Fizz and Ozzie being adorable together and that Moxxie is doing his best. I will also be roleplaying on Discord to explore various concepts, cuz my adhd gets in the way of fic writing.

I actually had been holding onto her for a while because of the human outfit but after a few Pinterest searches landed on the beachy-summer vibes. I might make a few tweaks in the future but who came out perfect was her demon design and fit omg ateee.

I will make a point to include a star in all her outfits because she’s a superstar aaaahh so clever anyways that’s all for now!

Ok ok i'm a liar oops. Saw the Millie short (I have thoughts) and the season 2 trailer and i had to do my poor sweet underdeveloped bird girls justice.

Octavia is virtually the same personality wise, except she has hobbies that Stolas is completely unaware of but Stella supports fully. Specifically taxidermy, which Stella finds fascinating. I don't vibe with the design after staring at it for a while, but this was just a doodle and potential colors, i'll have to draw Stolas and then figure out her colors.

In demon lore, Andrealphus teaches lots of things, but he is said to teach astronomy, so i decided Stella (as her name would suggest) is very knowledgable on the subject and star gazes. I gave her a galaxy esc dress similar to Stolas's s1 ep7 outfit and changed her colors a bit.

They have a good mother/daughter bond in this because if Viv can't write a good mother figure then I'll do it myself dammit.

Stella is basically now all the fan theories before she was boiled down into a shitty one dimensional abuser to make the uwu gay bird sympathetic with a bit of my input.

She is the younger sister of Andrealphus, who married her to Stolas as a way of moving up in the world - as Stolas is a Prince and Andrealphus is a rank below him as a Marquis. Stella initially was distraught but tried to be good. She tried to find common ground, seeing as both her and Stolas liked stars, but they never clicked fully. When Octavia was born, Stella shifted her attention to her and started being passive aggressive to Stolas, letting her years of anger out on him in little jabs. Things along the line of her throwing a not divorced party but she doesn't loudly insult him in front of her guests.

When Stolas cheats on her with an imp, she's fucking furious. She's given up her entire life to this man, to bring her family name higher and her husband cheats on her with an IMP. The lowest of the lower class, and now her gossipy high society friends she's spent years getting into the good graces of will know. So she's a mix of fucking furious and just a tinge hurt. She's not justified btw, i just want to show her side of things for once because Viv is allergic to developing female characters.

She adores Octavia in my version. Utterly adores her. So of course she takes Octavia and tries to keep her away from Stolas as much as possible. She loves her daughter and wants to raise her better than she was raised.

Holy nightmare of all Nightmares, here's Beezlebub, the most scariest Sin of them all, a fun fact about Bee. She's supposedly the mother of hellhounds, and a mother of hellhounds often should encourage her kids to feed her. Sooo.

Beezlebub had cultivated a hellhound hive dedicated to indulgence and whim. Beezlebub wanted her Hellhounds to feed her, and if they don't they are considered dead to her and are sent to Pounds. What kind of pounds is up to you. Because of Beelzebub's rapid hunger it led to the mere destruction of others, and she feeds on weakness and other people's bad decisions (BeezleJuice)

Levi doesn't stand out as much as I'd like (I think all the rest of the sins stand out from their citizens except lucifer and levi lmao. Glitz and Glam were not great to show before Levi, they look so similar) but I'm so so happy she's two headed oh my GOD hallelujah I would've just rathered both heads be eel like OR two halves of a whole face. Also nit-pick but why are both of her fringes going the same way 🤨🔍okay visual clutter

Also the eyes feel more like an envy thing than a sloth thing, also this is last minute as I type this but I'd give Bel a snail shell cus they represent sloth and also. Slow. I'd want her shapes to not be eyes but maybe spirals, crescents, or even just the movement of melting, like her fluff and the candle wax could be one in the same

I think Bel should be GNC also, since goats have beards she'd have stubble cus she's too lazy to shave. Her and Mammon are best friends and they adventure together

I rewrote the scene in Sinsmas where Stella and Andre were reacting to Stolas trying to call Via cuz I thought the original was dumb . . . I also got inspired by people who did the same thing.

The room is quiet, sunlight casting long shadows over velvet furniture. Octavia sits curled in a window seat, thumbing through her Dantalion 6. A soft chime breaks the silence—her phone lights up. “Dad.” Her eyes soften.

Octavia (quietly) ...Dad?

She reaches for the phone—until a pale hand snatches it from her grip.

Stella (her voice sharp)

What are you doing, Octavia?

Octavia reaches for her phone back only for Stella to pull away

Octavia

It’s dad. He’s calling me.

Stella (cool, clipped) No. I won’t have you indulging that disgrace.

Octavia blinks, lips parting in quiet protest. She clutches a pillow to her chest.

Octavia He just wants to talk...

Stella (still calm, with edge) And what do you want from him, hm?

Octavia hesitates. Her voice is barely above a whisper.

Octavia ...I want to talk to him because I miss him.

Stella turns, eyes narrowing ever so slightly. For a moment, silence hangs between them.

Stella (icily composed) He forfeited the right to be missed when he betrayed his title, his bloodline, and his own daughter... all for a pathetic, lowborn imp.

She tosses the phone onto a nearby table like it’s trash. Andrealphus looks up from his book, swirling a glass of wine.

Andrealphus (dryly amused) Oh? Took him this long to crawl back? How touching~.

Stella doesn’t laugh—she paces slowly toward the window, voice dropping into something venomous and elegant.

Stella He didn’t just cheat. He humiliated our house and this family. And now, he thinks he can reappear and play doting father?

Octavia quietly rises.

Octavia He didn’t forget me...

Stella (without turning) No, darling. He simply replaced you—with someone easier.

Octavia doesn’t respond. Her eyes glisten slightly. Without a response, she runs out the room, past two butlers, who silently hang a pristine portrait of Andrealphus where a painting of her and Stolas once hung.

[CAMERA lingers on the portrait. The soft sound of footsteps fades as the door closes.]

pre-death story and inspirations below the cut!

before she died, niffty was a housewife, residing in the fukuoka prefecture in japan. she was married to a man for a little over 4 years. their lives were quiet, yet happy. almost. niffty had her fair share of misfortunes; she was diagnosed with OCD and had constant instrusive thoughts of aggression/violence, either towards herself or others. though her and her husband had a stable enough income, she refused treatment, afraid of the cost and it interfering with her fixed schedule. on top of her diagnosis, she also was infertile and could not have children. this saddened her, though she convinced herself it was for the best due to the fact she thought her condition would be detrimental to any kid she might have. her husband didn't like this however. he desired kids, and niffty's infertility became a source of growing resentment. her husband started to cheat on her with another woman. what began as a secret affair eventually turned into a second life- one niffty was never meant to discover. but she did. and when she did, her intrusive thoughts became far more than fleeting visions. they became consuming, vivid fantasies she could no longer suppress. the images of inflicting pain- the ones she had spent YEARS trying to silence- now felt like a promise of justice. one evening, she made their usual tea, just like she had countless times before. but this time, she stirred drain cleaner into both cups. the stench was foul. she sat across from him at the table, her hands trembling slightly as she lifted the cup to her lips. he drank without suspicion, despite the disgusting, rotten odor coming from his cup. for a brief moment, they sat in silence, just like they always did. then, the coughing started. the retching. his throat burned, his voice strained with confusion and pain. niffty watched him struggle, her eyes dull and distant. she didn’t move to help. she only stared, feeling the same searing pain clawing at her own throat. by the time anyone found them, they were lying cold on the kitchen floor. their tea cups were shattered nearby, the sharp scent of chemicals still lingering in the air. to everyone else, it seemed like a tragic accident or a suicide pact. but only niffty, now down in hell's depths, knew the truth. she made sure they left this world together, bound by the same pain that had quietly torn them apart.

niffty's design has bothered me for many reasons, the main being that: 1. she looks like a child 2. she barely looks like a bug, what her motifs are supposed to be. 3. her hair is not 50's at ALL, which is when she supposedly died (which seems to be a major problem with vivzie's designs, the sinners do not match the era they died in.)

to combat these problems, i have her a more mature and period accurate hairstyle, as well as some lipstick! her pilot design had colored lips so i always thought of it as red lips. her original hairstyle looked more like some sort of shaggy bob, while female style's in the 50's were much more curly/wavy and well-kempt. i'm going with a 7 deadly sins motif for each of the main characters. of the sins, niffty represents ENVY.

she is now based off an asian lady beetle, which are commonly mistaken for ladybugs. lady beetles have a foul smelling odor, which i'm giving niffty as a nod/punishment to the smell of the drain cleaner that killed her and her husband. they're also known to bite as a defense mechanism. along with her buglike limbs and her spotted dress, her headband is supposed to mimic bug antenna.

as nods to her heritage, her teeth are similar to an oni (a japanese demon), and the top of her dress is crossed over like a kimono. instead of the normal correct way to wear a kimono where it is folded left over right, it is right over left, which is for dressing the dead.

🦉 STOLAS REDESIGN 🌓

oh where do i even START. there is no metric or scale on this world that can adequately measure the sheer velocity of my eyeballs rolling into the back of my skull in contempt whenever Stolass the cringe ass nae nae baby comes on screen during the already painful watch of Helluva Boss. this goddamn piździelec is the bane of my existence. not only is he my least favorite Helluva Boss character, but my least favorite Hellaverse character in general. the narrative treats this pompous chicken drumstick as if he has the right to act like the victim, when all he’s ever done is put Blitzø in uncomfortable situations where Blitzø had to have sex with him to obtain the Grimoire, knowing full well that Blitz needed it to keep his business running. AND he keeps on neglecting Octavia, his DAUGHTER, to continue being weird towards/about Blitz. now, that in itself DOES make him an interesting character, but the problem is in the way he’s shown to us – as someone to be pitied. why is he treated like a good guy in the show, i will never understand. nerf the whiny bird and quit justifying his actions before I draw him stuck in a glue trap hitting the Peter Griffin death pose 🌞

Letting up on that hate-filled rant, let’s talk business!! Stolas is a self-centered manipulator with a victim complex that is blind to other people’s feelings in my rework. He blames everyone but himself for his actions and despises when things don’t go his way. In his eyes, it’s all Stella’s fault that he turned into a cheater (as if she wasn’t also forced into their loveless marriage like he was…). He was distant and cold from the start, and when Stella stopped trying to make their relationship work and quit taking his bullshit, he became even worse. His daughter isn’t exempt from his coldness either. As much as he swears up and down that he loves her, he still silently views Octavia as a nuisance, an obstacle that is firmly placed in the way of true freedom and peace that he could have been living, if not for his obligation to raise an heir. He feels entitled to being the way he is, since he’s never been treated all that well by life either. He very clearly feels trapped, but that doesn’t erase all of his faults.

I do like the idea of Stolas being a villain. A multifaceted character that has been wronged, but a villain nonetheless. And he is treated like one! He would NOT be the main focus of the show, however — the lights would be on I.M.P. tbh I’d rather go for a more episodic approach to the story, where each episode is about a different client of I.M.P. and we get to see the main characters actually doing their jobs as paid assassins and facing some wacky setbacks they have to overcome, rather than seeing the constant back and forth between Blitz and Stolas that the official show seems to revolve around now. So yes, Stolas wouldn’t be featured nearly as often! In fact, I feel like he’d usually get the most screentime in the heavy episodes: for example ones that would tackle his relationship with Blitz, or ones that would showcase his immediate family and how they all pretty much hate each other.

Now onto the design!! In all honesty, I don’t mind his official one, but I couldn’t help myself from hitting him with the redesigning-beam too. POW 💥

• He has gained quite a bit of feathers, especially around the neck. Also, instead of the weird hat-crown (???) with eyes situation he has in the official design, I just gave him a floating crown with one eye AND plumicorns – the ear-like feathers that owls commonly possess!

• I kept the astrology theme because it’s AWESOME. Every high ranking member of the Ars Goetia family has a different set of chores that they do to ‘regulate’ Hell. Stolas is the one in charge of the night sky in every Ring!! He studies galaxies, constellations and asteroids, among other things cosmos-related. he can also create galactic matter at will, hence the two nebula orbs he’s holding and the galaxy cape 🌌 (fun fact: you can phase your hand through his cape and it’ll be covered in star dust!)

• His cape is fastened with an Asmodean crystal. Why is that important? Well, an Asmodean crystal can work as an inter-dimensional transportation device just as well as the Grimoire. He knows what that kind of crystal looks like. Blitzø does not (Asmodean crystals are anything but obtainable for the common demons. Most have no idea what they look like). Also, Stolas has a lot of those crystals stored in the castle, thrown around forgotten chests and left unused. See where I’m going with this? Stolas purposefully retains this information and tells Blitz that he only has the Grimoire to spare, for which Blitz has to go to bed with him each month (as their agreement states), when he could’ve given Blitz one Asmodean crystal and part ways with him long ago. But he’s too selfish to let go of the imaginary relationship he created and continues the same cycle that leaves both of them more and more divided.

My interpretation of the seven deadly sins that i am working on a rewrite of hellaverse with my friends (the name of the rewrite is "peccatum innocentis" it was kinda fun but also stressful, ngl, but i am kinda happy with the results.

Also all of them uses any pronouns, as i see all of them don't have really a "gender" they are just, well, sins, sins can be committed by anyone, at any gender.

And just some facts!! Satan back can get on fire when he is REALLY angry, belpehor have an "forever insomnia" they can actually NEVER sleep, they are awaken 24 hours, and there's much other stuff but i am not so sure what much i can tell, as i have this more as a "project" between me and my friends, as we don't use it just to well, just being haters, we actually are using for both me and my friends just to have some fun and trying to get better on writing!! and well, me on my drawings skills, i just don't talk much about them here because the critical community is getting kinda uncomfy, so yeah!! just showing what i want!!

HB Rewrite Idea: Stolas finally fucking dies, Stella realizes she’s a lesbian, Stella marries Verosika and they raise Octavia in a actually loving environment

I really do think Beelzebub had the potential to be the most sinister of the Sins. She's the Sin of Gluttony and she encourages people to overindulge and act upon their vices (unless they're Mammon apparently) because she revels in excess, but what if there was a darker side to her?

Amongst the dregs of Hell, Bee is considered a blessing. A kind woman who will help those in need to find happiness and is always willing to lend a helping hand to the hapless nobodies. However, things are not always what they seem with her. In reality, she's a master manipulator and the biggest enabler in Hell. How she 'helps' people is by encouraging them to act upon their vices, not so subtly goading them into developing addictions. She always has a bountiful supply of products to feed into these addictions. Addictions they cannot financially support.

And who does she mainly target? Hellhounds and Imps! The lowest of the low, basically slaves! She builds a false sense of security and friendship with these poor Demons, pretending to understand what they're going through and making the friendless think they have someone who cares in this scary violent world. She preys upon the weak and vulnerable.

Due to her position and status, Bee has never had to worry about money issues. Her customer base however, they tend to reach the point where they can't support their addictions. Almost instantly, Bee will turn upon them, throwing herself a big pity parade about how betrayed she feels, threatening to cut off her customer. Unable to turn away from their addictions, they will beg for another form of payment, which is exactly what Bee has been waiting for. Her 'friends' will sell their souls if it means being able to feed their addictions, which Bee happily accepts.

At that point, Bee has won. She's earned another sucker's soul, where they will join her army of slaves to produce more of her delightful products, which will inevitably be used to lure in more unsuspecting victims.

Her influence is so strong that she has customers in practically every corner of Hell, all on her payroll. All suckered in by her kind facade and promises of numbing the pain.

I hate Stolas. Oh my god. It's not even funny anymore. I used to tag posts as 'anti' this or that just so other criticals would see, but never actually hated the show. I can't like it anymore. I hate Stolas and the way the writers keep sucking his asshole and acting like he's somehow the victim. If he was a villain, I'd be praising his writing - he's a manipulative asshole. God, I don't even want to rewrite this show because the premise is so gone by now. "I'm uncomfortable with how you're speaking to me right now!". Bullshit, as if Stolas didn't constantly demean Blitz to the point that it was censored - ah forgive me, it was framed comedically then, oops. The first five minutes of this episode are a chore to sit through. At least it's animated nicely and Brandon and Bryce are incredibly talented. Honestly, I love Verosika, she's the only saving grace (and the background characters), she's like, a decent person and not a one dimensional bitch. This should've just been an episode about Blitzo apologizing to people and Stolas doesn't touch the episode. Like. Idk, he realizes how much better he feels after making up with Fizz and goes to a party Verosika is hosting on Halloween to apologize to her too. He still goes on his little apology tour, and the party is the main event. It's not a 'hate Blitzo' party, it's just a party - hell, maybe it's a party for people feeling scorned and shit, maybe it's a Valentine's party for all I care. Her and Blitz talking was my favorite part, (until it babied Stolas) I love Christina Vee.

Double Creature Feature - Stella and Andre Goetia

Here it is, Stella and Andre. You can probably tell where Stella's Backstory was inspired by.

Stella

The youngest out of 10 siblings Stella was the only female and the last child of the family. Andre was her eldest brother who cared deeply for her. Stella was supposed to be married off the moment she was old enough to. Stella was born a runt which meant constant bullying and mistreatment. She was set to marry someone before Stolas but because the other guy wasn't a "fun guy" she rejected it. Stella contracted a severe undocumented case of the Bird Flu which caused a lot of strife and expectations. She was expected as the child and only defacto girl to wave and act pretty. Even when she was exhausted. Even when she was told to shut up and obey. Even when she was forced to be kind to her father. Stella had several miscarriages (infertile eggs) before Octavia became her Rainbow Baby, despite tricking Stolas into marrying her (A la Bloberta.) she felt nothing towards Stolas. Not even love, not even hate. Just... detestation. It even highlighted and flared when Octavia was "born" she tried to be a present mother knowing that she couldn't. But with Stolas being absent and never there. She had to be the only stable parent. Sometimes her past comes to bite her in the ass, and this is where she found out the Imp she actually loved, Blitzo was sleeping with Stolas. She never blamed Blitzo, but blamed Stolas for everything as he was a "monster" and it was "in his nature" to seduce weak people into ever being with him.

Andre

Being the eldest, Andre was parentified. Oftentimes having to raise his rowdy 9 brothers and when his youngest sibling Stella was born. He had a mission to protect her. While his other siblings were married off fairly quickly. Stella often leaned on him for support, either from the pain of depression or being lonely. Andre became her support. Andre wanted to be there for his sister but sadly after the death of their parents and his eventual sworn in as the King of Ars Goetia he had abandoned his protectiveness and decided to effectively focus on work.
