You frowned as you settled yourself on top of Tim's desk. Your winged shoes protested the stillness, but you remained sat in wait for the hero. He's unknowingly been under your protection for years, but you are only now revealing yourself as you just came back to Earth. You've been away from Earth for a long time, but all of those under your protection are protected regardless of where you may be in the multiverse.

You carefully removed your helmet to appear friendlier. Your helmet shielded your eyes and protected you from the fast winds while also looking incredible, in your opinion. Once upon a time, it was a feared helmet in the form of a barn owl. Despite the simplicity, it holds immense power.

Your helmet was equally impatient, flying around the room like an energetic golden retriever. Really, no part of you is happy to remain still. You were meant for flight and speed! Why are you sitting still on some mortal's desk when you could be flying around the world?

Your wings weren't happy being stagnant. They were agitated and twitching, but you managed. You smiled softly at your helmet and kicked your legs on the edge of the desk to release any of the pent-up energy your shoes held.

You couldn't stand it after a few minutes and stood up to allow your wings to flare to their proper wingspan. They expand along the room as if to stretch out, but you know your wings want to fly. It's been so long since you've flown on earth. Your wings automatically adjust with gravity, and they spread proudly.

Tim limped in on a broken leg and immediately ran into your wings. You winced in sympathy when he lost his balance and fell. You quickly retracted your wings and tucked them tightly to your body. You went over to help him up and softly apologise. He hissed painfully as he stood, but he still thanks you for the help.

"Who are you?"

He asked once he took a look at you. Your helmet landed and adjusted itself back onto your head. You put up the visor to look him in the eyes properly. What a beautiful shade of blue, they are! His black hair was tossled from battle, and he was still sweaty and aching for a shower before he went to sleep. You smiled almost fondly.

"Right. I'm your patron god."

You said, as if that explained everything he could possibly need to know. He blinked blankly at you a few times as his brain came up with millions of questions.

"What do you mean my patron god? Who decided I needed a god?"

Your grin was worrying to him. You decided to make him your mortal avatar after spending centuries looking for one. The other gods have all found and lost their avatars, yet you waited. You knew that was not the time back then. Someone worthy was going to arise. All you needed to do was be patient. As heroes fell and the world changed, you waited. Your patience was rewarded with this warrior. You explained,

"I mean, I made you my warrior. You have been under my protection for a while now."

Tim raised his eyebrows and gestured to his leg as if to ask where his protection was when he broke his leg. You chuckled quietly before explaining,

"I can protect you from others, but I can't protect you from your decisions."

He sighed softly. Whatever. Yes, he made a wrong call, but he wasn't given much choice than to jump off that building. It is his fault, however, that he forgot his grapple gun. You wanted to put it in his utility belt, but you had hoped his sharp brain would double check his gear like his father checks his own.

Your shoes seemed to have gotten impatient as you started floating in the air. He asked nervously as he eyed you warily,

"Why are you here?"

He doesn't want to anger a god, but he's tired and getting cranky. You expected as much, so you got to the point. You explained,

"I want you to be my avatar."

He narrowed his eyes in thought before asking carefully,

"What does being an avatar entail?"

You twirled in the air and circled him slowly with your wings tucked close to yourself. He tried to keep an eye on you, but even at your lazy speed, you were fairly quick. You gave him an almost dismissive hum before saying casually,

"Nothing much would change. I would give you the powers of a demigod in exchange for you fighting in my domain when called upon."

He was watching you in surprise. The stunned silence stretched on for long enough to make you fly towards the open window. Your wings tucked tightly at your sides while exiting the window but expanded gloriously while you hovered outside for a while.

"Think about it. I'll be back soon, starlight."

Your voice was playful like you didn't just drop such a massive decision on his lap. Tim took your hand before you took off. He needs more information.

"A demigod for which god?"

He asked. You smiled fondly at him. He wants to know what powers he'd be gaining from you. What's in it for him? He holds a lot of power in the position you put him in, and he's thinking about accepting the deal. You said proudly,

"You'd be the avatar for the god of the skies and space. I control the universe, and you, my starlight, would have the powers of space and skies."

You pulled him into your arms and mused while stroking his back,

"I think you'd look breathtaking with wings, but that is an optional addition, should you choose to join my side."

Tim tried not to scream when you dragged him out of his window towards you, but who could blame him for actually screaming? He wasn't the one with wings, and he felt like he was going to break his other leg hovering this far up!

He squirmed worriedly and looked down. He greatly regrets his decision to live on the top floor of the manor. What does he do if you drop him? Scream for Clark? He thinks it would be easier to just fall and deal with the consequences of gravity than to deal with explaining why he fell in the first place. Would you increase gravity to make the time falling to the ground feel less daunting?

"If you keep squirming, I'll drop you."

You mumbled in a grumpy tone, adjusting him in your arms for the fifth time. He tensed but obeyed and stilled. He looked up at you, and he felt like he had stopped breathing. You looked gorgeous in the moonlight. Your smile was teasing him into doing whatever you wanted him to do, and your eyes were alluring. Your strong arms pulled him securely into your embrace, even if he did feel like he was going to fall to his potential death. He was lost in the thought.

Unfortunately for Tim, he happened to purse his lips when he thinks. It's actually why he covers his mouth whenever he's deep in thought. You took this as an invite to kiss him, however, and joked,

"Asking your patron god for a kiss is certainly an interesting way of seal the deal."

Before he could voice his confusion, you had kissed him, and he quickly felt the rushing power that comes with being a demigod. Is this how Diana feels? He feels unstoppable! All powerful! His noise of surprise was muffled by your lips as he became putty in your arms. Is this how he's going to die? To a god he never asked for?

A kiss from a god doesn't feel even remotely similar to a kiss from a normal person. The kiss of a god has the power of pure seduction. That is how the gods used to have so many demigods with mortals. Gods find humans so entertaining, and they all are sick of each other.

His heart was going to explode. His head was fuzzy. He felt like you became the centre of his universe. Time surely had to have paused. You held a powerful spell over him, and you had totally forgotten about that happening to mortals. When gods kiss, only the gods of lust and love have any chance of seducing another god.

You managed to pull away after a suspiciously long amount of time kissing him and looked at him closely. He was dazed. His eyes were glazed over entirely, and his hands shook. Nothing could have realistically prepared either of you in the moment, but a little warning would have been nice.

You never had to actually kiss someone into submission when producing demigods before you stopped visiting Earth. You didn't even think about it, and he had no idea how to even begin to explain why he's suddenly a mess.

"Starlight, I'll see you tomorrow. You just became my new favourite mortal."

You gave him a mischievous smile after helping him settle into bed and jumped out of his window. You flew off, and he was left wondering how on earth he's going to explain this to his family in the morning.

i think the opportunist would have peacock traits, both bc of the bright and beautiful colors of their feathers, and bc their tail feathers look like they have extra eyes on them. he's showy and extravagant, but he has a watchful eye bordering on hypervigilance to protect his back

the skeptic would of course have horned owl traits, bc a certain owl from a certain game has me associating horned owls with knowledge

i think that the cold would have barn owl traits bc they're coldly beautiful and look like they're wearing masks

the hero would have corvid traits (like the long quiet, since i think that he's the long quiet's heart, similar to how the princess is the shifting mound's heart) with feathers that reflect silver rather than iridescent to give the illusion of metal armor

the stubborn HAS to have cassowary traits. they have funky colors and are pretty, but they're also. incredibly dangerous. i believe THE most dangerous bird in the world, as far as humans are concerned. these things KNOW that they used to be dinosaurs

i think that the smitten would have swan (specifically black swan) traits, since swans mate for life and are often seen as a symbol of romance bc of that

the hunted would definitely have a mix between hare and bat traits (not birds at all but hare specifically feels so right bc they are prey but they are MEAN) (not saying hunted is mean. just that "prey" is not all he is). he also has corvid traits bc corvids are famously intelligent and he's so very smart to me

okay so i was gonna say that the contrarian would have hummingbird traits, but actually lovebirds are a much better option. they're smart, playful, and affectionate, and i can see him being affectionate when he's not trying to get under people's skin. plus, they're small birds and he gives me small and especially younger sibling vibes

i think i'll give the broken secretarybird traits, as i want him to be rather tall. it also hints to him having more potential than he lets himself express

idk what traits to give to the cheated or the paranoid. if anyone has any ideas, or has any additional thoughts on what i've already decided on for the others, i'm open to hearing them! these are tentative decisions (especially for smitten and broken -- i'm pretty happy with the others), more like i'm brainstorming than making actual hard decisions, so i'm open to suggestions!

Doing a massive overhaul of my Voice designs, decided on not only the color theming (not changing the colors at all Cold will forever be purple to me) bur also each being a different bird species. I figured I might as well log it down here to not only keep a list for later but also receiving constructive criticism.

Hero: Crow, same as the player himself.

Paranoid: barn owl. Hyperaware of everything around him, especially sounds or visuals. Hunted also has this but Instinct Den forever changed how I see him. Also barn owl calls sound like screaming.

Cold: albatross. "Albatross over your shoulder" referring to numbness in this case (as far as I know that phrase just means something is weighing on you).

Contrarian: hummingbird. Hummingbirds have to be calculated to make sure they don't run out of energy, and that is exactly the opposite of Contrarian. But he still has that energy.

Cheated: cuckoo. Irony. He got cheated out of something (usually slaying The Princess), like how a cuckoo cheats another species of bird out of raising their own chicks.

Opportunist: lapwing. A group of lapwings is called a deceit, plus I decided to switch to him having the wing spur instead (he'd use it to win a fight in an unfair way once he gets an opportunity).

Hunted: loggerhead shrike. They're songbird that would normally be prey, but there's a reason this bird is called the butcherbird.

Smitten: lovebird. What else?

Skeptic: macaw. They're smart and I'm trying to avoid putting another corvid in so Hero is the only one.

Stubborn: eagle. He gives me the vibe of a bald eagle that will interlock talons with whoever he views as a rival (or lover, take this how you will) and plummet towards the ground at full speed.

Broken: dove. Pigeons and doves are closely related and doves works better with the theme of worship (often used as symbols in various religions).

or a situation, which is stuck somewhere between existential threat an’ scuffle between barn animals.

(it’s one of those underdeveloped, raw-ish concepts that i indulge in just for funzies. it all started very simply. i was thinking about what kind of person might make bruce jealous. the topic was kinda challenging, considering that bruce in the comics *at least in the ones, i read* or even btas is rarely express this emotion if at all. in fact, at one point, he literally said to the woman, who he supposedly was in love with, that she should stay with the other man, who also liked her, bc he needed her more *he got disfigured an' such* an’ she was like ‘wtf is wrong with you. to paw me to the other man like that’, clearly outraged. but bruce didn’t seem to fully grasp what her issue was lol.

still, what if he somehow got jealous of another man, when it comes to crane, anyways? and who that man could possibly be? my first thought was superman, bc bruce generally can be kinda petty, when it comes to him. but clark is such a puppy-like character. he wouldn’t have been mean about it, or even be someone who could potentially like jon in such a manner. at worst, bruce might have got annoyed at crane *not clark*, if he said smth about superman’s strong arms in front of him. some jealousy there, but not quite what i was looking for, when pondering on that set up.

an' then, i recalled the owlman! i only know the version of him from the cartoon, an’ honestly after seeing glimpses of what they do with him in comics, i’d say this is the only owlman for me. from the crisis on 2 earths ‘toon. gotta admire a character, who is SO nihilistic an’ SO sure in his own worldview, that he literally does nothing an’ dies, just bc it doesn’t matter to him. he even smiles a bit, if i remember correctly. kinda both chillin’ an’ sad. the owlman had an ego, but he also just kinda….wanted everything to die an’ that’s it. he is what might have happened, if bruce went full blown doctor strangelove, after his parents death. which is funny, bc owlman isn’t bruce wayne at all, but he is the one who ‘takes’ his place in his own universe. i don’t remember if it was ever revealed in the cartoon, who the owlman was or if they left it ambiguous. i'm pretty sure, that they made him bruce’s brother in the comics, specifically. but i might be wrong, bc there was a few owlman in batman's ran, i think...?

either way, this version here is devoid of backstory. the main thing for him is that there was never a bruce wayne in his universe, an’ coincidently enough, no jonathan crane, either. as result, owlman knows nothing about scarecrow. he had analogs of other batman’s rogue gallery, who were either heroes or anti-heroes, but he never had professor of fear of his own. an' that’s part of the reason why he gets slightly curious about him. at the begining, it's very casual on his part. i guess, he might have wondered why it's those two *jon an' bruce* specifically, who never existed in his reality. everybody else, clearly did. so he looks a bit closer into it, still mostly for the sport. only to find out about strange relationships that crane has with the bat.

the owlman is an isolated kind of character. he doesn’t care for his own teammates. nor he's able to reciprocate their affection. i mean, he didn’t really react to the villain version of wonder woman kissing him. he was surprised, sure, but not hurrying to return the gesture or even seemingly knowing what to do about this situation. which led me to believe, that at least in the frames of that toon’s worldbuilding, he had no alt alfred or robin or anyone, who he was close with. kinda an opposite of batman, who does to a degree surrenders himself with people, even if he keeps them at *emotional* distance, more often than not. but the point is, that bruce still wants a connections an’ not devoid of hope to see the things sorta/kinda working up. in comparison, owlman is as nihilistic as a person can get, so it makes zero sense for him to have close ties with anyone. or even see it smth that he needs. but i imagine that witnessing how batman acts with his enemies, jon esp, be a very confusing experience for him. like, why pity such a person? why even show some small signs of kinship with him? an' what’s so different about this one, if anything at all? 

so after some more pondering, he approaches crane just to see for himself, if he is worth all that effort *sympathy* or not. an’ hey, scarecrow is kinda fun. reactive an’ jerky, an’ surprisingly aggressive for such a coward. owlman's usual enemies are the good guys. they're heroic an' noble. but jonathan isn’t that. not even close. his worldview is bitter an' twisted. whatever wrongs were done to him, didn't mold him into a hero like with any other owlman's enemy. the scarecrow is a villain to the boot an' it's...new. his use of fear is interesting too. none of his enemies had this gimmick. this makes the owlman wanna play around with him for a bit longer. or owlman experience unknown emotions for the first time in years an’ kinda not fully certain what to do about it, other than indulge in it. his end goal still the same. it won’t change for/or bc of anything, but he can have a small distraction, before the curtains call. it's not everyday, when he can find a person, who is kinda interesting to him, even if bc of pure novelity that he can hang out with a man, who had never existed in his own timeline.

then, he learns about the scarecrow’s life. how it went downhill or rather, how it was sorta doomed from the start almost. an’ oh. here it is. that’s what batman feels too, isn't it? that silver of kinship. the owlman never had this before. an’ it’s not a bad feeling, either. he was never able to relate to the others. it’s like ‘everything sucks so much. everything just sucks forever’ an’ he has found someone who understands the meaning of this sentiment, an' not just being an emo about life. at least, the owl would assume that jon understand it in the exact same way he does *but jon doesn’t lol* 

meanwhile, bruce is concerned. owlman is a very bad, bad kind of man to have around crane for many different reasons. one of which is that it doesn't sound like a hard thing to convince someone like crane, that destroying everything is the only 'right' way to go about things. jonathan's life is generally was an' still is awful, so why not end it all, but with a huge, literal bang?

it’s like a nihilistic doom an’ gloomy buddy club. sounds hella corky, but in reality, it’s dark stuff, actually. jon be beyond depressed in this case. him getting all buddy-buddy with people, who are more unhinged an’ dangerous than him isn’t a new thing. but in this case, it’s like an extra salt on batman’s open wound. the bat himself states in comics at least twice, how crane is one of those villains, who don’t just stay the same, but who progressively gets more an’ more insane an’ deranged each time he breaks out of arkham. him hanging out with the person, whose worldview is basically ‘it would have been so much better, if we all were dead’ an' who literally an' genunily means this, isn’t smth that is good for jonathan's *already declined* mental health. esp if owlman is also rather problematic in other ways too. not to meantion, that him dragging crane along is also kinda personal. in this way, he might be showing bruce, that no matter how much he wants his rogues to change or how much good will he shows them, they're all just human, therefore they're all hopeless an' bad. bc all humas are bad in owlman's understanding. it's like 'aw, you want to believe that this one isn't a lost cause? what if i will make him help me to murder everybody? still think he worthy of your delusions?' owlman might have an end goal, but he's also arrogant an' petty too.

on main, i have two rough-ish concepts for their uhhh, trio shippy thing. in PG-ish version, it’s just that owlman influencing jon in an awful ways, an’ since he kinda/sorta resembles batman, crane subconsciously rely on him, bc he's somewhat familiar. besides, the owl hints that his own life was bad too, an’ it’s like finally someone gets on the same level of despair as crane does. an' also, maybe...this what could have been, if the bat was a villain too. they could have been on the same team. so in a way, it's kinda more of jonathan playing into this weird fantasy of himself an' bad batman, than him fully understanding the real level of 'oof' that owlman tries to acomplish with 'the plan'.

*funny enough tho, where it really counts, jon isn’t like owlman. he, for one isn’t someone who would just give up. after every fail an’ each kick an’ shove, he still gets up. the thing about jonathan is that he wouldn’t just lie down an’ die no matter how much pain an' humilation an' despair, he felt. an’ he also wouldn’t *in the end* commit to the idea of murdering countless people just bc his life sucked. even if, it doesn’t mean, that he won’t go through motions an’ nearly, truly consider going along with it. he isn’t alright in the head, an’ his negative emotions tend to get the best of him. still, i feel like most versions of jonathan would in the end, decide that no, it's not what he wants or ready to take responsibility for.*

it all would resolve in comic book fashion, where jon would help the bat in the end, an’ not that other man, who had his allure an’ had almost seduced crane into doing one last evil act any human being in existence could have ever done. still, there always be longing on scarecrow’s part for this odd, wrong ‘batman’, even if he sticks with his own, regardless. 

*an’ yeah, the bat is kinda jealous throughout all of this lol. the world can be hanging by a thread, but no one said, that he cannot be a tad possessive, while he’s saving it *an’ crane* too. owlman will have fun with this knowledge, while it will go completely over jonathan’s head. mister ‘i can pin-point everyone’s fear from one conversation’ would have a really hard time understanding that batman’s beef with the owl not strictly hero vs villain thing*

then, in more mature version, it's kinda the same-ish plot, but owlman prob would do way more messed up things, which might put crane into a position, where he’s afraid to not comply, but also not actually willing to do it. an’ naturally, there bruce won’t be jealous, more so angry. really struggling with idea, if he should let just this one man *or an owl, whichever rings more true* die. an’ then, if this is a reflection of him, what kind of person, he really is. so it’s more of moral dilemma an’ a character study of a nihilistic sociopath, who just might have wanted to have a lil chew-toy, as he prepares his biggest scheme.

anyways, it’s not like an otp3 or anything. i’m a very bond/pair oriented fella. so when i’m dabbing into 3 way dynamics, it usually has more situational/reactive undertones. but i won't deny, that it’s fun to think about 'what if' or even about some situation in the void, where the bat an’ the owl double teame the crow. which in any plot-included or a somewhat coherent narrative just wouldn’t have happened bc of how all 3 of them function / react to things. it just not in their character to do it this...randomly. but if i will ever make a superhero pwp ficlet collection, i might try to do smth with this idea.)

Summary: your and your little sister’s life had an 180° turn when your parents got into a severe car crash, dying on the spot. You, being already past 18 had to figure out how to keep things afloat and give yourself, specially your sister, a good future. And you did! It was hard but you did it and became the absolute hero in the little girl’s eyes. People would often involuntary smile at the dynamic of your two, so wholesome and supportive, the perfect family bond. Bond that a certain Boogeyman noticed as well…

—“(Y/N)! (Y/N) look!”—

The voice of a little girl resonated behind the mentioned person, who was finishing putting on their shoes.

—“Mmh? What is it songbird?”— you curiously say as you walk towards your sister.

The little 6 y/o was enthusiastically pointing at the window.

—“Look! The owl family! They actually made a nest in the backyard!”— she exclaims excitedly, giving little jumps in her place as she speaks and points.

The older sibling looks through the window, focusing on the large tree they had in the backyard. And it’s true! Inside of a tree hollow was a barely noticiable owl head curiously peaking out, staring at the duo with it’s dark, almost pitch black, eyes.

—“It’s not just an owl, it’s a barn owl!”— you comment, glancing at your sister. —“Not sure if they’re going to find much food around here though… Maybe we could buy some meat later?”—

—“Oh, yes! We need to help the birdies!”—

—“Aight’ I’ll write it down in our 'to do' list. But now we gotta go or you’ll be late for school.”— you gently remind her.

—“Oww, but will I see the birdies later?”— she looks at you with a little frown.

—“Of corse! Maybe we could even stay up at night a bit longer since they are nocturnal animals.”—

—“Past bedtime?!”— she gasps a bit.

—“Yup, past bedtime.”— you nod with a chuckle. —“But only this time for tonight, and maybe ones in Halloween… And Christmas… And new year…”—

(S/N) lets out a childish laugh as she swings her arms around her sibling’s waist.

—“You are the best (Y/N)!”—

The mentioned person laughs a bit and crouches down to hug their sister properly.

—“I learned from the greatest. Now come on or your teacher is going to reprimand both of us.”—

The little girl pouts a bit but does as told, clearly not wanting to get scolded again by the old witch Rosemary.

After a couple of hours, (Y/N) had picked up their sibling from their school and were currently on their ride to the store, when suddenly…

—“(Y/N), who is ‘Michael Myers’?”— (S/N) innocently asks.

They almost choke whit their own saliva when they heard that name leaving their sister’s mouth, their body going a bit stiff.

—“Uh…”— you think about what to reply. —“Where did you hear that name?…”—

—“A classmate told me! She said the friend of their older brother was killed by Michael Myers!”— she replies, saying the last part in a more dramatic tone.

—“Uhuh…”— you hum thoughtfully.

—“So… Who is he?”—

—“Well…”— you pause for a moment. —“He was ones a boy that lived in Haddonfield, around 16 years ago, and then at Halloween he… He killed some people; his stepfather, his own sister and her boyfriend.”—

(S/N)’s eyes wide and her mouth slightly gapes.

—“Own sister?! How dared he?!”—

—“Yeah, but can’t blame him. His sister wasn’t a good person, in fact no one was really kind to him except his mother.”—

—“Oh…”— she pauses, trying to process the fact that not all siblings are as amazing as the one she has.

—“So yeah, that’s the story of Michael Myers, and his old house is now a source of spooky stories, claimed to be the ‘house of the Boogeyman’.”—

(Y/N) replied honestly, they rarely kept secrets from their sister and would often do their best to explain certain things, she will learn them anyways at some point so they rather to be the ones who explain it.

The little girl nods a bit, her gaze thoughtful.

—“Is his house like… Haunted?”—

—“Mmm… Nah, it’s just an old abandoned house. Sure, some teens may come in for kicks and giggles but that’s it”—

(S/N) nods again and then silently looks through the car window. Through the rear mirror (Y/N) could see the girl's expression, it was clear that she still has things to ask and wonder but chooses not to.

Eventually though, whatever was bugging the girl's mind becomes too much and she's forced to ask...

—"Can we go and see the house?..."—

(Y/N)'s grip on the steering wheel tightened, their body stiff again.

—"...Why?"— you simply ask.

The girl shrinks in her sit a bit, her expression a bit sheepish.

—"I... W-Well... While exiting the shcool I heard Terry say that his dad is going to demolish the Myers house in a few days, I got curious and... I just really want to see a real haunted house at least ones!"— she exclaims at the last part.

—"I just said it's not-"—

—"It looks haunted! Please! Pretty please (Y/N)!"— she begs. —"I promise I will look quick! Just a little peak and I won't ask you anything ever again!"—

—"Didn't you say the same yesterday when you wanted pizza for dinner?"— you ask in a teasing tone, subtly trying to change topic.

—"But now I'm super-duper serious! Please."—

The older sibling remains quiet, eyes gluet to the road yet their mind going completely coconuts. Part of them wanted their sister to know the truth, to know that just last year all grown up Michael Myers had escaped from the asylum he's been locked for so long, to know the people he killed, to know he kidnapped and nearly murdered his own young sister, to know that... His body is still to be found, despite originally being claimed as dead.

On the other hand, a more permisive part of them saw nothing wrong in making a quick visit. The old house is several blocks away from their neighborhood and police cars still patrolling the streets quite regulary, specially now durning October.

NO, their gut screams as they slouch on their sit a bit. This is probably a terrible idea! Did they forget all the horror movies and the ridiculously avoidable threats the main characters go through? Do they really want to get themselves in such mess?

But again, it's just a house... Some stupid old building that is barely standing.

And even though (Y/N) doesn't want to admit it... They too are kinda curious to see how the house looks after the last year events.

It's just a little peak.

Just a tiny glance that will last no longer that a minute or two.

Plus, they're god damn aware that if they don't accept (S/N) is going to give them a one hell of a time, and their nerves deserve some mercy.

With a sigh, (Y/N) corrects their position.

—"Just a small glance, okay?"—

At that, (S/N)'s face lights like a firework, her smile wide and bright.

—"Yes! Yes thank you so much (Y/N)! I promise I'll be super good from now on!"—

They simply hum with a smile, this is going to be a quick visit, just a minute and they'll be over it, going to the store to buy some groceries and maybe some new Halloween decorations, the holiday was still three weeks away but in Haddonfield, even after the Boogeyman's horrors, Halloween is still welcomed.

The car pulls and stops, at the opposite street from the old house.

Just like they imagined, neither time or the people of this town had mercy on the structure. The poor building looked even more vandalized and broken than before, still miraculously standing.

(Y/N) frowned, they’ve expected to feel the classic thrill, the unexplainable sense of danger that our primal instincts send to alert about any sketchy situation, yet… They’re feeling non of it, instead of irrational fear and dread they feel sadness, a melancholy so deep it consumes all other emotions, leaving a huge void in their chest.

The little girl stares at the house, frowning too, as if feeling the same deep sadness.

(Y/N) eventually stops the engine, making everything go silent.

It’s uncertain how long the duo was sitting like this, staring at the building and barely breathing. Eventually, a tiny voice breaks it.

—“Can we…”— she hesitates.

—“Want to look closer?”— you ask, unimpressed.

—“Y-Yeah…”— she shyly admits.

(Y/N) hesitates, not wanting to abandon the safety of the car. But again, what threats are out there?

With a sigh and a small nod, they unbuckle their belt as a silent 'okay'.

When out of the vehicle, the duo got a spine chill almost at the same time. The house looked even bigger, the old structure menacingly hovering over them, reminding how little they are.

But even then, even despite the house's menacing look...

The atmosphere remained melancholic, lonely.

—"The house looks so sad..."— your sister comments with a frown.

—"Indeed it does songbird... Indeed it does..."— you reply, having a frown as well.

—"Do you think the ghost of Michael Myers is looking at us?"— she asks innocently.

(Y/N) gives their sister a look.

—"(S/N), I said he was locked up, not that he died- "— you try to correct her.

—"He may have super powers! What if he can turn secretly into a ghost?!"— she exclaims, though more that scared she sounded excited about such possibility.

(Y/N) simply chucles at the girl's innocence and how quickly she could get out of track with her theories and imagination.

—"Yeah, maybe you're right. It's a cool super power though."— you comment, a bit more casually. —"But I think it's time for us to go sweetheart, remember we still have groceries to buy, as well some stuff for Halloween."—

(S/N) lets out a little gasp.

—"Oh my god you're right! Let's go let's go!- "—she grabs your hand ready to leave but abruptly stops. —"Wait!..."—

She suddenly starts to rummage in her school backpack, gaining a confused yet curious look from (Y/N). With a little 'aha!' she pulls out a drawing.

—"Okaaaay...? What are you planning young lady?"— you arch a brow.

—"It's a gift, I want to gift it to the house!"— she exclaims with a big smile.

—"...What?"— you look at her with confusion. —"You want to gift one of your drawings to an old house?"— your eyes narrow a bit when she nods.

—"Yeah! I mean... I don't like how sad the house looks, so gloomy and... Lonely. You always smile when I gift you a drawing, so I want to try it here!"—

(Y/N) remains silent, though a bit of warmth tickled in their chest at how innocent and sweet (S/N) is acting. They look towards the house, the path to the front door completely overgrown, the dry grass being as unwelcoming as possible, threatning to stick and pinch whoever is dumb enough to enter.

—"I will be fast! Just slide it through the mail slot and then we run back into the car!"—

Their eyes narrow even more.

—"You want to slide it inside?!"—

—"Yes! So the ghost can see and see what a cool artist I am, I even made it spooky!"—

(Y/N) finally takes a moment to glance at the drawing; it was an orange dinosaur, a spinosaurus to be more specific, that had an agry expression. What's the spooky part? The dinosaur is wearing a black witch hat with a red magic wand and a scarf. The drawing also had some things written, all of them spelled wrong of course, insead of saying 'Dinosaur! Happy Halloween!' it said 'Dienosore! Happee Hallowin!'.

(Y/N) couldn't help but to let out a small chuckle at the spelling, they definetely must start teaching their sister some grammar.

—"Alright... But we go together, okay? You slide that in there real quick and we're out."— you say, a bit more strictly.

—"Okay!... Well, maybe also this."— she takes out a little chocolate bar out of her pocket.

—"You want to also leave a treat for the ghost?"— you arch your brow again.

(S/N) simply giggles.

—"No silly, it's for the Boogeyman! So he eats this instead of my ankles."—

—"Didn't we agree that a ghost lives- "—

—"The Boogeyman is the ghost's dog!"—

(Y/N) let out a tired sigh as they roll their eyes, whatever lore (S/N) is having in her mind is getting progressively worse.

—"Okay okay, as you say. Let's hurry up, we don't want the store to get flooded and have all the best decorations sold."—

The little girl nods enthusiastically and takes their hand before they start walking.

(Y/N) is careful with their steps, making sure to not step on any thorn or stick that could potentially hurt their sister, (S/N) meanwhile was loyally following her sibling's footsteps, trusting them completely.

Ones they made their way to the front door, the odd sense of alarm starts to finally creep through (Y/N)'s back, like a bunch of bugs running under their skin in sheer panic, trying to escape and hide from whatever threat is looming in the air.

The older sibling takes a more protective pose, griping their sister's shoulder firmply and eyeing at every possible direction, looking for the sourse of that alarming feeling (S/N) was totally oblivious of.

The little girl, with a happy-go-lucky attitude slides the drawing and the candy through the mail slot like she said, and ones done turns toward (Y/N).

—"Done!"—

As soon as (S/N) said that, her small frame is yanked towards the fence, away from the sketchy building.

—"Good... Now let's go."— you say, your tone a bit more urgent.

(S/N) glances at them with a little frown, noticing the change in their attitude.

—"Are you scared, (Y/N)?"— she innocently asks.

The question made them stop in their tracks, they pause for a moment but eventually sigh.

—"A bit, maybe..."— you reply honestly.

The girl frowns more, but then her expression brightens as she wraps her arms around her sibling's waist.

—"Don't worry (Y/N)! If the Boogeyman dares to come for you I'm going to protect you!"—

Such statemant made them release a scoff.

—"You? A little garden gnome is going to safe the day?"— you tease.

—"Yes! If a monster tries to do something to you then I'll uh... I'll step on their big toe and slap their elbows! Yeah!"— she exclaims, determination shining in her eyes.

Though the childrish threat didn't soothe (Y/N)'s mind, it did lightened their mood a bit.

—"Step on toes, huh? Watch out sis, that's some very serious threats right there."—

—"I know! Bet I'll make the monster cry."— she grins mischievously.

—"You sure? You won't back away at the last second? Just like you did this summer when you tried to catch a gekko in our backyard."— you chuckle at her angry face.

—"The lizard was scary! I didn't know it could climb on walls!"— she childishly whines as she gives you a little punch in the arm. —"And stop laughing! It wasn't funny!"—

—"Didn't you hysterically laugh when you spooked me with that hideous horse mask on?"—

—"Thas was fuuny! The gekko running up walls wasn't!"—

The both siblings started to go back and forth with their little argument of what was or not funny, the argument at some point turned into a small playful fight that was anything but serious. At some point the duo lean against the car, loudly cackling and hugging each other for additional support.

Their roudy interaction didn't go unnoticed, appart from some disapproving glares from the local neighbors, a pair of dark eyes oberved them as well.

The icy blue eyes of the monster hiding in the darkest part of the house watched the duo since their arrival. At first, he was indifferent, just a pair of dummies coming to retell the same story over and over... But eventually, his opinion changed, their dynamic and behavoir was something unique to him.

The way that little girl wasn't afraid of the 'Boogeyman' living inside and how calm her sibling was towards her request to come closer was something he never seen before. Sure some teens would drag their young brothers and sisters towards his old house to give them a scare, terrify them with stories and how he is going to supposedly come and take them, but these two...

Something awakened inside of him, not just curiousity but also something bittersweet... If things had turned the way he wanted he may had the same relationship with boo... The same strong bond he always craved since childhood.

When the car eventually left the neighborhood, that odd awakened feeling vanished as well, making his chest feel empty and cold again...

He has no idea why or what is going on with him. Why some strangers affected him in a such personal level. All he knows is that now the emptiness is being slowly replaced with an unhinged desire...

Desire to find these two and observe them again...
