The Need for Focal Points in Interior Design

Interior focal points are essentially design techniques for providing visual structure. Basically, they guide the eye and creating a sense of balance within a space. Without a clear focal point, a room can feel disorganized or lacking in cohesion. We simply have to strategically incorporate statement pieces—such as an accent wall, a bold piece of furniture, or striking lighting. These elevate the professionalism of interior designers by anchoring the space, drawing attention to key elements while enhancing the overall interior aesthetic. In fact, focal points help establish hierarchy in design. How? They ensure that spaces feel intentional rather than overwhelming or cluttered.

Functionality of Focal Points

Beyond aesthetics, focal points contribute to the functionality of a space by defining areas and improving spatial flow. In open-plan layouts, for example, a well-placed focal element can create subtle separations between living room, dining, and work areas. Additionally, focal points evoke emotion and set the mood of a space, which can be through a calming artwork in a bedroom or a dramatic chandelier in a lobby.

So, integrating thoughtfully designed focal points, interiors become more engaging, practical, and visually compelling, elevating the overall experience of a space.

I can't stop thinking about the post from a few days ago about how Critical Role has been great at doing personal faith but didn't put the necessary work in to discuss the religious/god angle of c3 in-depth. Like the fact that Cardinal Respa was linked to both the Dawnfather and the Chained Oblivion is, on a personal level, very interesting (fallen/corrupted priest goes hard) but like does that mean that there's a Papacy somewhere in Exandria dedicated to the Dawnfather? If so, are there more cardinals who ordain the bishops of the Dawnfather? Are there Conclave-level intrigues going on in the Dawnfather's Sistine Chapel? Why is the Dawnfather so Christianity-coded in vibes alone if there's no actual outline of his religious organisations? With Downfall the Dawnchild/Dawnfather thing makes the allusions to Christ as Son of God co-existing with the Father textual - was there a Dawnfather Schism around whether the Dawnchild was a separate mortal? Was there a Reformation about how the Dawnfather's Pope kept selling indulgences? Is that why the priest of the Dawnfather Grog & Pike offer a drink to doesn't partake because of a cultural shift between Protestant-Temperance-League-coded and Catholic-coded Dawnfather congregations? Why do I have so many questions about the religious organisation of one of the most important Prime Deities in Exandria and to Critical Role's 3 campaigns? How on earth were the cast (and us as the viewers!) meant to care about the gods if all they had were "really tall kings" instead of interrogating how religious organisations provide both a place of healing and community to a wide range of people and also a place of horrific harm and abuse for a wide range of people?

hello there!! thank you for asking!! starstruck certainly should not know this word, unless perhaps meta knight taught her. astéróki is a word from my conlang for the Celestials, "starspeak"!

it's from asté: simply meaning 'star' (a very overused word in their language), ró: used as a diminutive modifier (makes something small/cute), and ki: a personaliser, suggesting that the diminutive star is in possession of individuality or personhood. you can read more in depth about ró and ki here!

so all in all, astéróki in this usage is probably best translated to "little star of mine". it's typically an affectionate pet-name or greeting, though it can also be used generally (especially if someone is physically smaller and does not have a more useful rank title) or even mockingly- the way someone sleazy might say "darling" but they do not mean it nicely.

there's also something else i'd like to take the chance to add on about this one, actually! despite the diminutive, astéróki is not juvenile or infantilizing in nature.

i've seen some folks accidentally misinterpret this previously because i didn't clarify at the time, but my Celestials do not have a childhood stage, so their language has no room for words that imply youth or childish vulnerability that way!

yay! I drew these quite literally three years ago. dragonheart!milo and raihan! a knight on a doomed dragon hunt being lifted out of his station by a small village medicine man. together they become magic lawyers and overthrow the government

the main details in these do survive into the iterations I’ve drawn (instead of these actual designs I spent time to make el oh el): the “leaf” diamond quilt/gambeson and the plaited coattail for milo, the “atypical” weapons, long coat, and large number of scattered fake gold trims and accessories for raihan. I think I lost raihan the hat and added a cape for milo further down the line because like this their general silhouettes are too similar for my liking lol

Good day! I've been thinking about your very badass Geier replikas, and I suddenly got curious - is there any specific vulture species that you took as an inspiration? If so, in what way?

I originaly never really had a specific Vulture spieces in mind for my Geier replika , I just kinda liked the general idea of vultures being carrion cleaners and combining that with flamethrowers since. They clean stuff pretty well too, specialy in Signalises universe i imagine since the flares are the only thing permanently killing corrupted replikas.

But as general inspiration and looking into Vultures more i can say my Geiers fit the Black Vultures the most probably. Mixed with some esthetics from the coolest Bearded Vultures and I took yellows/oranges from Greater Yellow Headed Vulture.

Black Vultures lives all over both American continents and is small for a vultures but i liked their coloring and sort of balanced attributes. They live in groups as opposed to most other specied that are solitery/paired up. Toom that to form the Geier squad that exists rn cause i didnt want them lonely . And i think they mate for life? But im not sure 100% I heard that in one video . But i like their versatility .

Bearded Vultures , or LammerGeiers , are probably my fav vultures tbh because like. Come on. Look at them. I love them so much theyre fucking badass. Their diet is 90% bones and bone mearrow , thats insane I think. But I have seen others (I think even sosa specificly) made these their inspiration so I chose not to. But the size of them and coolness also chips into my design a bit.

Andd the Greater Yellow headed borbs! They don't have anything specific to them really aside from the fact they have a very good sense of smell that allows them to find carcasses but they themselves can't open up fresh ones , they need help of other bigger vultures. Also they miss a part in their throats that makes em make normal bird sounds so they hiss and gurgle more. Black vultures have the same . I took the yellows and oranges from these guys and gave em to Geiers.

So all in all I don't have. One specific spieces as inspiration which admitedly I should have worked more on. But I kinda just like all vultures :] I love their place in ecosystem as cleaners . Black vultures are even associated more with rebirth and goodluck rather than just death.

Hello! I was curious... Do the coins in TNP have designs, or are they completely smooth? :0

they do! the gold Adranian coins (which is what Clementine has) have the symbol of the king/king's house which is the swooping hawk that we'll see Duncan wearing later. that's basically the royal sigil of Adrania, and we'll see wardens, soldiers, and other high-ranking politicians or wealthy Adranian families wearing it throughout the game.

silver coins have a merchant ship on them, and bronze coins have the moon on one side, and the sun on the other side (to represent the Wolfmother's children, but to avoid directly printing the image of a god on money). Gael is different in that their gold coin actually has a whale on it, since whaling and fishing is their main source of income (versus Adrania, which in the south has decent farming and functions as a massive trade hub between/with Gael and Yulan). their silver coins have a wolf on one side, sun and moon on the other (same reason as Adranian's have it on their bronze) and then Gaelish bronze coins just have a silhouette of the southern mountain range and sea stacks.

Gael also has whale bone coins and Yulan has shell coins, but those don't get traded with Adrania. only the metal coins, and that's just because gold is gold; it doesn't change much of the value, it's only aesthetics, and the flow of coins between Gael, Adrania, and Yulan (Adrania's main international trade partner) is vital for all three countries.
