Imp and Skizzzzz!!
They’re hivewings, of course!!
#My art#it’s hard to convey in 20 art but Skizz is supposed to have very shiny black scales- the lighter parts being kinda silvery#And then just a few red scales. The neck stripes specifically are based off one I saw the other day but I liked the idea of a hivewing-#-having mostly black scales because some bg characters are described like that but no main ones that I can recall#And it’s cool looking#impulse fanart#impulse sv#impulsesv#impulsesv fanart#skizz#skizzleman#skizzleman fanart#imp and skizz#wof au#wof design#hivewing#hivewing design#Hermitcraft#hermitcraft fanart#hermitcraft smp#hermitcraft season 10#GODS their wings were a pain in the ass to draw. In your Jewel redesign, you said that Wasp probably wouldn’t let her get away with full drag, but that does make me curious. What would a dragon in drag would look like?
you will not BELIEVE how much I've thought about this, both during and after designing her. I can answer your question and beyond!!

The (Drag) Queens of Pantala
In order to properly explore Pantalan drag, I first looked to the (cultural) definition of drag itself, as well as learning some brief history. With the first known preformance occurring in 1867 (Although not truly popularized until the 19th century,) Human Rights Campaign and other LGBTQ+ organizations describe drag as a preformance art form that uses costumes, makeup and other tools to illustrate exaggerated expressions of gender identity, intended to critique gender inequality or other social justice issues. Drag has traditionally been preformed/pioneered by members of the LGBTQ+ community, predominantly gay men and/or people of color.
With this in mind, Pantalan drag was most likely created and developed by Silkwings (especially in jewel hive) as a form of protest art. I imagine the movement was later popularized by hivewing audiences, becoming more palatable to the wider public after being endorsed by a privileged group as art movements often are. While there are a myriad of social justice issues Pantalan drag could have originally meant to critique, the loss of Silkwing rights and deforestation of Pantala were probably the two main driving topics.

Their Artistic Process
As for the actual production of drag costumes or makeup, Silkwings would have had to work with what was available to them - fruits, vegetables, basic dyes/craft materials and their own silk. They would construct their own jewelry using beads instead of gold, weave their garments, and grind mica with pigments and oil to make eyeshadow.
Leaves, roots and trees would be frequent design elements of early drag: with the eye-catching glamour of a dragon working to simultaneously distract detractors and seek out supporters. Heavy accessorizing and imagery of wealth would also be important to presenting Silkwings as equal to Hivewings, through metaphorical sense. The processes of creating Pantalan drag is what leads me to believe it would prosper best in jewel hive: outside of their relaxed rules and support of Silk/Hive equality, they would also have easiest access to craft materials, dyes and a lively art scene.. endorsed by Lady Jewel herself.

Just a few thoughts on drag. Thanks for asking this question! I was looking for a chance to spill and you gave it to me ( ´ ▽ ` ).。o♡

can u to the librarian or tortoise please :]
Yess! Here's my librarian redesign!
I didn't realize when i was initially drawing this, but I think every redesign from this weekend might be stripes-heavy. Which is cool. but anyways, this is the librarian! I tinkered with her colors a little bit to add some blues and greens to her scales, which i don't think would've been natural but rather a product of Wasp's lifelong influence. You can kind of see her natural underbelly scales peaking out near her neck and end of tail, but those patterns would've been slowly replaced by the blue/green dots.
I wanted to stick with a breath-of-evil motif beyond just the colors, so I also used a long stripe pattern to mimic vines, as well as adding a green tint to some of her wing pattern and eye. The rest of this redesign kind of speaks for itself, so I'll leave it at that. Sorry to everyone who's been itching for more hivewings as creepy as wasp - the librarian is certainly a step up from Cricket with her super long arms, but I do plan on trying another super creepy hivewing design in the future. Probably on one of the hive ladies.
Either way, thank you so much for checking in on these redesigns! As always, my inbox is open and my pinned post has a navigator for all other redesign posts, as well as a character waitlist!
Stay cool americans Σ(°△°|||)︴

I fantasized a little about what one of the first children of the Clearsight and Sunstrike could be like. The dragonets are not related to the canonical ones mentioned in the book, here I was just thinking about the design.
Pantala dragons are quite different from Pyrrhyans, and because of this, it seems to me that the first cubs could turn out to be either deformed or with some mutations, defects. I also took into account that the genes in the wof are mainly from the mother, and my own design of beetlewings. First Dragonet He is devoid of any abilities, he does not have star scales and antennae have not grown, in the future there will be a very thick horn on his forehead, some scales have not grown evenly and fall off from the general group.
The second Dragonet: He has grown a second pair of small wings that prevent him from flying, but he is trying to learn. Small wings don't move well. It also turned out to be a dirty color.
And the third one: He was born under two full moons, but cannot perceive other dragon's thoughts in words, sees only pictures that often confuse him. Mutated horns with growths and too small wings, with large wing elytras, most likely he will not be able to fly. There is a poisonous thorn on the tail.

Wings of Fire tribe headcanons!
MudWings - bovine coded (affectionate). Only males have tusks.
SeaWings - made them a liiiiitle more streamlined and gave them more barbels for pizzazz.
RainWings - Kermit pupils! Also gave their ears that shape since Clay describes Glory’s ears as “feathery” in book 1.
NightWings - horns curl downwards, like a crescent moon.
SandWings - antelope-like horns. They have a dark patch of scales underneath their eyes to reduce glare (like cheetahs!)
IceWings - shrank their ears (less likely to get frostbite, I assumed). Not a full design element but general headcanon, I imagine that most of an IceWing’s crest(?) is made up of icicles that form on their scales and are kept frozen by their low body temperature.
SkyWings - their design was already really solid imo so I just gave ‘em a long bird neck.
SilkWings - made them rounder to better reflect the tribe’s personality and simplified their nightmarishly complex facial scale pattern.
HiveWings - they look like they could actually maybe kind of be descended from a NightWing and share a common ancestor with SilkWings now.
LeafWings - simplified scales again, gave them frog eyes, and gave their sail(?) more surface area (better for photosynthesis).
