Said I was gonna start posting here more often and what better way to start than with the Ghostbusters?
I sculpted this crew for the 40th anniversary, then just so happened to be in New York City back in April. Couldn’t pass up the chance to shoot them in front of Hook & Ladder No. 8, the Ghostbusters HQ.
Each figure was sculpted using a Heroclix as a base while Greenstuff made up their hair, jumpsuits, and all their gear. Each figure was made to be as accurate as possible based on their Real Ghostbusters designs and they came out great. Now to see about making the Extreme GBs…

“They put the sign out this time!”
When Zak was traveling with my sister during her last trip to New York, Hook & Ladder 8 didn’t have the Ghostbusters sign hanging in front of the building. I wasn’t expecting it to be there when I visited, but lo and behold, it was there, and I was so excited to see it. I believe it’s a new sign, as they still had one sign in the window as seen in the previous visit photo linked above.
Tumblr media
We also made sure to swing by Spook Central on this trip, but due to a faulty electric bike one day (long story, might tell y’all later) and being in a hurry to get to the financial district to get to Hook & Ladder 8 the other day, I didn’t get to snap a picture of Zak in front of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I’m a little disappointed, but if you had seen how exhausted Cali was from that bike, you’d understand why I didn’t pester her for a picture. I’m mischievous, not malicious!”
And I appreciate your concern, Zak. Maybe next time, and I’m certain there will be a next time; I really enjoyed my visit to New York and there’s a few places we didn’t get to go to this time.

Monty x reader! Requested by @ifyouwontlistenwhowill
Summary: reader starts working at pizza plex to earn money for college, works at montys gift shop, Monty slowly starts falling in love with the reader.
Tumblr media
Day one: 11:31 A.M.
You stood outside the pizza plex nervous for your first day. I mean your job was easy, just selling stuff at the gift shop for Monty's Gators Golf, handing out any prizes if they had been won by people. People ugh that's the thing you were most worried about, was the large crowd. Taking a deep breath you walked in looking for the person that was supposed to show you around. Noticing someone waving for your attention, you quickly walked over, going through the crowd of people checking into the pizza plex.
The person in front of you quickly introduced themselves, quite cheerful for being at work. He grabbed your hand shaking it, "Hi! It's so nice to meet you! I'm Dave I'm the manager of the side of the building that the gift shop you will be working in is at!"
Smiling nervously shaking his hand back, introducing yourself also, "Hi it's nice to meet you too, I'm y/n."
Dave let go of your hand and smiled, "Well then let's get started with the tour then."
Day 1: 2:28
After having gone through the tour of the half of the building you would be on, you finally got to Monty's Gator Golf. He quickly showed you around the gift shop and how to work the cash register before looking back at you, "Okay one last thing before you can start, I need to introduce you to Monty since you are working in his attraction. You're gonna see each other often."
Before you could respond he gave you a serious look, probably the most serious one you've seen on him all day before saying "I will warn you though, Monty has anger issues. He usually doesn't show it until after hours but still be careful."
Now you were even more nervous than before, I mean you thought it would be easier to talk to the animatronics than other people but one with anger issues you had no idea what would happen. Dave started to walk away so you took that as a clue to follow after him. Finally finding Monty, who had just finished talking to a group of kids about the rules in Monty's Gator Golf. Dave had waited until the kids walked away before walking up with you to him.
He nervously smiled at Monty who had already started basically glaring at him, "Hey Monty I came to introduce you to the new person who will be running your gift shop."
Monty looked at you from over his sunglasses before making a scoffing-like sound and starting to walk away while talking, "I don't care what you do, just do your job."
Dave looked back at you and smiled, "Don't take it so rough, he's usually like that towards most people."
A little upset about how the first meeting went, you just nodded to Dave before he lets you go to open the gift shop.
Day 3: 8:03 A.M.
You sighed as you were opening the gift shop, your first day went okay, nothing really happened. You had your second day yesterday which also was uneventful besides Monty keeping a close eye on you. He didn't seem to want to interact with you though, just make sure you weren't up to anything bad. You were setting up all the stuffed animals using a ladder that had been in the back. Even with the ladder, it was hard to hook the small straps that kept the stuffed animals from falling.
Having to reach up higher, the ladder started to shake underneath you before giving up. With a quick scream and closing your eyes as you fell instead of feeling the ground, you felt metal. You opened your eyes and realized Monty was the one to catch you. He quickly sat you down and growled softly towards you "Be more careful about what you're doing."
Before you could respond Monty had started walking away and some other employees had swarmed around you to make sure you were okay. You thought maybe Monty was nicer than everyone said he was.
Day 11: 4:07 P.M.
You sighed looking at the time, noticing the shop was empty at the time you decided to go ahead and stock up on some small things that were out. Going over the shelves you noticed that the Monty pens were completely out and you knew from this morning you had stocked the last of them that were out in front this morning. Which means you would have to go in the back to grab a whole new box of them.
Now that you thought of it, your and Monty's relationship had gotten a little better, with small conversations here and there but it was mostly with you just talking. He would make small noises here and there to tell you he acknowledged what you said though. Shaking your head, you head to the back to look at the boxes. Only to your disappointment when you noticed the box you needed was at the very top.
You can't use the ladder, in fact you haven't seen that ladder since you almost fell off it that one time and since then all the plushies have been hooked up when you got to work. Climbing the shelf would only make it fall over on you. Standing on your tippy toes you could almost reach maybe a bit- suddenly you felt cold metal touch your back as a hand reached over you to grab the box you had been reaching for, feeling what felt like breathing on your neck for a second before it pulled back. You turned around seeing Monty as you tried to calm down the blushing on your cheek from how close he was a second ago.
As you were about to thank him, he handed the box over to you, "Next time ask for help, no need to get hurt over a box."
You nodded quickly and stuttered to him "Ri-ight thank you again for the help."
He just nodded and left heading back into his attraction. Wait what was he doing back here now that you thought of it, was he looking for you?
Day 26: 6:08 P.M.
The gift shop was closed for the next hour for you to restock items and clean up since they were too lazy to hire extra staff to do that while it was open. As you were cleaning you found a discarded club for Gator Golf. Picking it up you had decided to go ahead and return it but you didn't know where they went so of course your best choice was to give it to Monty himself.
Now you two were able to have full conversations with each other with him actually talking, well at least a sentence or two here and there. You two would talk about small things though mostly about instruments and hobbies. Making sure the gift shop was locked up while you were out you had started searching for him. Looking around you finally saw him watching over everyone near a wall, probably having just gotten back from one of the bands night performances.
Walking over to him you spoke up "Hey Monty, I saw this club at the gift shop and thought I would bring it back to you."
Having heard your voice Monty looks over at you and sees the club that you reached out to hand him but seeing that, he also saw the slightly torn-up bandage that was on your hand, "What's that?"
Noticing that he was looking at your hand, you looked down and remembered what happened this morning, "Oh um I hurt my hand moving around some boxes this morning, just scrapped it a little It's nothing bad."
Rolling his eyes he takes the golf club in one hand before grabbing your uninjured hand with his empty hand. Putting away the golf club nearby and continuing to walk you stop to ask "Um where are we going?"
Growing softly at you in a non-threatening way of course, "To a medic station your bandage is ripped and with you working plus sweating so much you're gonna get it infected if it's not wrapped the right way."
You smiled to yourself as the both of you continued to walk. You knew they were wrong, Monty was just a big softy after all....
Tumblr media
Well um, you can tell Monty is my favorite... 😃🤭 Anyways I didn't know what to do with the room thing so I didn't add it but I still hope you like it!

This is the third post in a series of four. It covers the downstairs spaces.
The other posts in this series: Part One | Part Two | Part Three | Part Four
My other floor plans: Diaz House | Buck's Loft | Madney House
They're also on my Ao3
The Locker Room
Tumblr media
Right next to the bottom of the stairs and the poles is the infamous glass wall locker room. Next to the poles, there’s a single width door into the room and there's a set of double doors on the adjacent wall that heads out toward the app bay and gym area.
Inside the locker room there are lockers, obviously. The locker configuration isn’t always the same, but generally speaking, they’ve got them divided into two main sections, with each section consisting of three units and each unit consisting of three lockers up and three lockers down. In between the two locker sections are some wall mounted hooks and usually a laundry hamper.
As far as each character’s locker goes, nobody has a consistently assigned locker. Everyone’s locker location changes based on how they want to block the specific scene being filmed.
Tumblr media
In the middle of the room, there’s a massive open shelving unit. It’s all black, except for the side that faces the app bay, which is paneled fire engine red like the kitchen cabinets. These shelves hold toiletries, towels, bags, shoes, etc.
Behind those shelves is a solid red door. Presumably, this door leads to the showers, since it’s the only remaining door in the room. I’m going to come back to this door in a later section. There is often a full length mirror propped against the wall next to this door. And there are more wall hooks on the other side.
There are also some red benches and rubber floor mats that change location in the room based on scene blocking. But usually there’s one right in the middle of the room so people can sit in front of the lockers and also one over in the little nook that juts out behind the poles and stairs. Keep this nook in mind for later too.
Tumblr media
The Gym
Tumblr media
Next we’ll move over to the gym area, which sits underneath the lounge/living room. There’s a single width staircase along the wall. Below that is a single width door that heads out to the side alleyway. On the back wall is a large door that consists of four frosted glass panels. The two center panels slide to the side, but the other two panels are stationary, from what I can tell. The whole assembly is roughly 16 feet wide and the usable opening is roughly 8 feet wide, when both doors are pushed back.
As far as the actual gym equipment goes, there’s a dip station, a heavy bag, a speed bag, an inversion table, two weight benches for bench press etc, and heck of a lot of free weights. Quite frankly, it’s criminal that these poor firefighters don’t have a power cage or squat rack. How are they supposed to do squats and dead lifts? Can’t the show get some sort of product placement brand deal going?
Tumblr media
All the fitness equipment sits atop a standard foam puzzle tile gym floor. The weight plates for the barbells are stored over under the stairs. And the ping pong table usually lives over near the stairs as well, but it does move around as needed. Also, there are two big, full length mirrors leaned up against the back wall.
Additionally, there’s usually several benches around this area. From what I can tell, they’re made of some kind of red acrylic material for the seat on top of concrete feet. These benches move all around the gym area and app bay.
Tumblr media
The Apparatus Bay
Tumblr media
The apparatus bay. It’s where they store the apparatus, so the name makes sense. I’m going to be honest, I got a little lazy with the model for this section. Please forgive me. There’s a bunch of stuff stored along the walls and hanging on the walls that I just didn’t put in, but you can see it all in the show screen shots.
Tumblr media
There’s a ladder and a giant American flag and some wall maps that roll up and down. There’s almost always rolling tool carts and hose drying racks and air canister storage racks moving all around this space. Some wall mounted fire extinguishers. Sometimes those benches that live in the gym area hang out over here too. Plastic bins and tubs of various shapes and sizes, etc.
Along the top wall are the gear lockers for all their turnouts and such.
Tumblr media
Along the top is also where they park the fire engine, which is the truck that holds water. In the middle, where there’s the most room, is where they park the aerial fire apparatus, the ladder truck. And at the bottom, near the side door to the alley, they park two ambulances.
Tumblr media
The Front Section
Tumblr media
Off the app bay is the main entrance/bay door that the trucks enter and leave through. Irl there are two different doors for this section: an exterior garage door (the one that says "wake n bake" on the outside) and an interior sliding door that consists of four red panels with textured glass inserts that retracts back into the wall. I’m not sure if that glass door is supposed to be the only door in the world of the show or if both doors are supposed to exist in the show.
As for human sized doors, there are five off this section. Along one side there are two single doors and then a double door that goes to the captain’s office. On the other side there are two sets of double doors. Other than the doorway to the office, we’ve never seen what’s through any of these doors, so I can’t tell you what’s behind them. However, I’ll discuss some theoretical options in an upcoming section. Irl, I've seen equipment stored back there in bts videos.
Tumblr media
What I can say is that the double doors across from the office are implied to lead somewhere that can get you outside, presumably through the human sized door on the front facade that’s next to the bay door. I say this because we see Morty come through it when he’s sneaking into the station in Ocean’s 9-1-1 (s2e15).
On the walls of this section are a drinking fountain, hand sanitizer, an AED, some electrical boxes, security cameras, and various lights and alarms. There are also some bollards next to the doors that use to be over by the stairs in s1.
And that concludes all the stuff that I’m totally certain about. Next we move onto the things we’ve seen on screen but that I cannot give exact details about for various reasons. Starting with the captain’s office.
The Captain's Office
Tumblr media
The reason I can’t give definitive details for the captain’s office is that there are two of them. For the model, I’ve attempted a sort of amalgam of the two. I’ll also include two sets of screen shots, one for each set.
In season 2, the captain’s office is physically part of the firehouse set and it exists right where they say it does, through those double doors off the front entryway. The single door next to those double doors also leads into this space. Though, I’m certain it’s not supposed to be interpreted that way, you can see a glimpse of it in the corner of the top left shot below. Of interest to me is the glimpse you can spot of a spiral staircase that leads up to some sort of mezzanine, also indicated by arrows. And the last arrow is just pointing out the big glass wall that shows it’s really in the firehouse set.
Tumblr media
In subsequent seasons, the office is a sound stage set. It theoretically exists in the same location, because we see Hen and Chim go through those double doors to get to the office in Hero Complex (s5e17). However, the physical features of the sound stage office set don’t make sense with the location it’s supposed to be. There are exterior windows and one door on both sides of the desk and a hallway outside the interior door into the office.
Tumblr media
The furnishings that are pretty much the same between the two versions is the standard office stuff. A big mid century metal desk with a desk chair on the captain’s side and two waiting room type chairs on the other side. On the desk is a computer with all the usual stuff that entails, as well as a desk lamp, a land line phone, a desk pad/blotter, name sign, pen cups, tape, etc. It changes.
There’s a low cabinet behind the desk that holds a copy/fax machine, a lamp, and a several other land line phones that I could not for the life of me find models of to put in. So please just imagine them. I assume these phones go directly to specific, important people/places. The fire chief or mayor’s office or who knows? Not me, but that’s my guess. You can see them in the screenshot below.
Tumblr media
On the wall there’s a gigantic map of Los Angeles that’s probably meant to indicate their jurisdiction, but lol, lmao even. We all know their jurisdiction is anywhere in a two hour radius. Also on the wall are several plaques and awards etc.
Around the room are some big black filing cabinets and multiple bookcases full of binders and some awards and cute firefighter decor.
In the sound stage version there’s also a side board set up as a coffee station and a coat rack, as well as a black leather couch on the wall across from the desk, with more awards hanging above it. Also the ceiling is lower.
Tumblr media
The Bathrooms
Tumblr media
We’ve seen two different bathrooms in the show, but not their location in the building. So I’ll theorize about that now.
The bathroom we see Chim cleaning in Chimney Begins, I believe is the real actual working bathroom of the actual building. I believe this because it looks like a real actual bathroom to me and I don’t think they’d go out of their way to build an extra bathroom set for that montage when they could just film him in the already existing bathroom, and also there’s a recent Oliver photo of Kenny in that same bathroom. Based on the windows, I’d say it’s in one of the two locations highlighted below. If I had to bet money, I’d guess that irl, it's in the location at the front of the building/left of the image.
Tumblr media
The other bathroom we see is in s1e10 when Bobby is taking dating profile photos. I believe this bathroom is fake and the plumbing fixtures are props hung on the wall. I am nearly certain that, irl, it was in the space beyond the door in the locker room, highlighted below.
Tumblr media
Obviously, that doesn’t make sense in the world of the show, because then there’s nowhere for the showers to live. (Although, I have some alternate thoughts about that coming up later.) So where this bathroom is supposed to be in the universe of the show, I don’t know. Off the captain’s office as a private bathroom? Upstairs in an imaginary non-existent place? It could be anywhere.
That concludes our tour of everything we’ve actually seen on screen at least once. Now we head into unseen territories that theoretically exist despite us never seeing them. Everything past this point is pure conjecture or entirely fabricated on my part. Gene Wilder voice: Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination.
Continue to part four...

Galahad (Right) and Rey (Left). More info about their whole deal after the cut
These guys are some of my oldest OC couples at around 8 years old (that I still use), and Galahad has changed quite a bit but Rey was already perfect. Backstory:
They both come from a setting in which I never bothered really giving names as I was more focused on the characters. so we'll call the place Galahad is from "The Empire" and Rey's "The Kingdom". Names are not relevant rn.
We have Galahad, an orphan Ifrit that REALLY gets into magic because he sucks at anything physical and it was the only way for him to pursue higher education. Ends up in a magical-military career as a way to keep climbing the social ladder and because they are the only people who will fund his research into stable, 24/7 open portal magic.
He REALLY gets into politics because those two things are joined at the hip and he was always a nosy bitch that never stays still when there is an opportunity to improve his current position. He doesn't do it out of malice but because he fears that at ANY time the rug will be pulled under him and he'll be back at square one poor as a rat and he needs to feel in control of his life. He starts having secret hookups with people WAY above his station.
Context notes: The Empire™ it's very very conservative. They can still charge you with indecency if you're a sodomite, ESPECIALLY if you're a public figure. That of course doesn't stop gay sex from happening anyway but someone has to be the escapegoat when a scandal happens
Exactly the thing above happens. One of the dudes in the council gets called out for exactly that and he throws Galahad under the bus. One accusation gets piled one after the other and his lovers jump ship before the finger can be pointed at them too. His public image is in shambles but he actually gets charged with Treason (because airing publicly who he hooked up with would be BAD and he probably got those corrupting ideas from the barbaric Kingdom anyway)
Galahad bites the bullet and goes into exile before anyone can try to murder him before the trial, thus "confirming" the fact that he is, in fact, a traitor. He was always ready for this though, so he takes all of the portal research with him.
Now he's bitter, heartbroken, and completely alone in enemy territory. He's not the kind of person that just lets life happens to him, so he goes right back at work again. Unfortunately he discovers that working on Seals and Sigils at -20°C in the middle of the artic tundra is Not Easy and needs to get a real job there.
Now, for Rey and The Kingdom©. Whereas Galahad is a normal dude with a congenital condition (albinism), Rey is the result of literal dragon eugenics. He doesn't have a name (Rey is short for Rey de la Ventisca, his title) and, in their culture, there is no word or space for princes. For the royal lineage, you either are the King or you aren't; and if you Aren't, you better challenge the current one to a fight to the death. Cold spares no one, you have to be THE strongest, flawless, perfect execution of the divine vessel you were born to incarnate.
Rey is just his title, as meaning "rulling above all else" but it's actually a theocracy. His religion believes the holy power of dragons and Frost Dragons are the only kind that will live most of their life in "humanoid", lesser shapes, as their true form is reserved to very particular events (I.E: coronations) or religious military conquests.
Rey, despite his power and attitude, is not really a person, and never tried to be. He is THE King, that's all he needs to be. Until Galahad comes around, there was no difference in his mind between himself, the last or the next King.
The Kingdom is not more "open" politically, it's just different in how it handles them altogether. It's a GIVEN that the King Will eventually have an heir who will murder him and take the throne, so who cares if he's sucking dick in the meantime. Rey makes or breaks every single societal rule he wants by virtue of Being, and that becomes what now Is. It's almost open knowledge that the King favors men, so now it's just What Kings Do.
He has the biggest hoard in the whole setting, and despite that, he doesn't really... owns anything. It's the King's. He protects the Kingdom, its treasure, and his title, and does so HAPPILY but it's not until he starts viewing himself as an individual that he starts WANTING things. When Galahad eventually tells him that he wants to belong to him, he puts emphasis on that last part. He wouldn't want to be with the last king, or the next one, he wants Him. Galahad doesn't think he's an empty vessel because everything that he loves lives there.
Unfortunately, having wants and needs comes with the fact that you WILL have to confront the fact that you really don't want to have heirs and want to marry your consort and your whole world vision will come crumbling down on you because if you're not able to truly be King then you must be Something Else and that just Does Not Compute
Whoops someone murdered the twink. Holy war

Ok so here I am pouring so much work into a complex story line about a bunch of characters that only got to exist for 8 minutes over 20 years ago. But...guys I'm having SO MUCH FUN.
Also shout out to @pupbuns12 for letting me info-dump and ramble about this AU/story before I even started drawing it! I've had this idea in my head for a while now! Is it even an AU if there's no canon to work off of other than a failed pilot? Eh, I'll still call it an AU.
ANYWAYS! I wanted to play with the idea of higher-ranking angel's not being too happy about imps (low-level demons) being allowed to work for the same Big Boss as them. Specifically, the hard-core traditionalists who think they know better...
To summarize the first act of this AU/Story/Etc:
While imps and other low level demons are allowed to work in heaven on temp jobs (while being based in a neutral zone) they're not around angels or their areas of the city that often. However, they're THERE JUST OFTEN ENOUGH that most angels and risen souls are aware of them. Pretty much no one cares, because what The Big Boss says goes anyways. So, no big deal.
On an average day most heaven folk don't pay much attention to them as long as the imps aren't causing any trouble. That is, except for a few hard-core traditional arch angels who don't like the sudden acceptance of demons (of ANY kind) into heaven; even if it's just to work a job.
Enter...Arch Angel Bancroft. A high ranking angelic official who thinks things were better the way they were before, and he wants to make his case known by any means necessary. He feels like HE knows better, and things need to "get fixed" back to the way they were before (the "right" way, if you will.)
So, by any means necessary, he's going to "remind" the Boss how things should be done! Takling doesn't seem to work fast enough, so he gets violent. Our titular Imp squad, while keeping low on the social ladder, are seen around the most often. (Mostly because they keep fucking up their missions, but ssshhh) so he targets them specifically. Such tiny little things...
At one point, Net'l has the ship alone for a while after dropping Vex and Erk off somewhere. He's suddenly violently shot out of the sky point blank, crashing. Bancroft had attacked, but for now is still keep his head low. He has a specific plan in mind, after all. Planning to use Net'l as an example, he captures him and keeps him captive in the cellar of his manor, waiting for the perfect time to come out with the rest of his plan; to make a true example out of him. Net'l is listed missing in the meantime since there was no body found at the crash site.
Before Bancroft can continue though, his OWN angelic job keeps him busy, so Net'l has a lot of time to build something (secretly) he can use to call for help out of all the broken junk lying around. A few days later, he gets it works and both Vex and Erk are able to track him down and rescue him! Bancroft never got what he wanted.
He's also seen as a "corrupt" angel for..well, obviousy being violent and thinking he was better than the Boss (BIG NO-NO) and is exiled. His title changes from "arch angel Bancroft" to "Bancroft the banished"
Obviously, he's PISSED. And the angrier he gets, the less of an angel he becomes, literally. (basically becoming what he hated most via his own bias) and swears revenge because before it was just an example, but now it's PERSONAL. And that's mostly what I've got so far!
And then I wanted to draw some of it out as concepts and story beats! There's A LOT more I have written for this story, but I'll save all of that for another day! Oh yeah and obviously Net'l and Vex hook up and start dating. Almost losing Net'l finally gave Vex the courage to confess, and Net'l already had a crush on Vex to begin with. Both were closeted and had no idea their feelings were mutual. Also, Net'l is gay and Vex is bisexual. (This becomes important again later lol)

One Painful Memory
Written for the dreamnblade christmas event @alterdnbweek is holding this year.
Day 8 Prompts: Nightmares; Lazy Day
Oops. Forgot to post this yesterday. Well, a day late isn't the end of the world.
**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**
Techno is the best thing that could have happened to him after Pandora. He's perfect at dealing with Dream's meltdowns, flashbacks, and nightmares that wake them both up. He always has a perfect response ready for him even if it is just grabbing a blanket and shoving them both out to sit in the snow for a while. He's able to figure out exactly when Dream is getting overwhelmed and takes care of the situation. He'll meet his syndicate members out in the snow instead of letting them into the house when Dream is having a day he can't stand being around other people. It could just be a bad day in general and Techno just knows.
Even though most days are bad days. Really, horrible days.
Dream hooks his chin over his knees, watching Techno as he shows Ranboo various stances and corrects mistakes that have developed. It's not something they would be able to do inside, but he can't help the thoughts that insist Dream is interfering in Techno's life because he can't get over what happened in Pandora. Techno's clearly gotten over the whole thing already. Why does Dream still need the comfort of a familiar presence and assurance that he's no longer in the obsidian cell? Why does he have to still deal with the night terrors when he should have moved on already?
Maybe he should bring up moving out of Techno's house. Finally give Techno the space to do what he wants with his life and isn't stuck babysitting Dream.
He blinks as the sun shifts, shining directly into his eyes. He rubs them and squints out in time to see Ranboo and Nikki waving goodbye below. Ranboo teleports them both out of range, popping back up a good few hundred blocks away from Techno's cabin. Phil is still there, talking with Techno, though he's wearing what Dream is pretty sure are traveling clothes so it might be a simple discussion about what needs to be done or not while the avian is away.
Techno gives a single wave as Phil lifts into the air, soaring out of range almost as fast as Ranboo teleported away. he turns back to the cabin and Dream scrambles form the window ledge to the couch where the abandoned blanket nest and book options are laying where he abandoned them.
It's ridiculous. He knows that Techno won't care if he moved around and did things without asking for permission, but he just can't get rid of the fear that maybe there will be something that triggers that. Even with Techno's assurances that he'll bring up anything well before that happens.
He can hear the heavy footsteps of the snow boots entering, landing with a thump on the ground, then the shuffling as Techno starts moving around downstairs alongside the heavy lumbering of Steve going somewhere. It becomes pretty clear that he's doing something down there and not planning to come up and Dream hesitates, glancing around at the room around him. It would be a lot more interesting to watch Techno work on whatever he is doing than staying inside this room where the heat of the blankets is starting to get suffocating.
Silently, he unwraps himself and descends the ladder. A quick peak shows Techno in the kitchen, chopping up various vegetables and placing them in separate bowls. There's a bottle with a familiar dark liquid and combined with the pan he can see on the stove, Dream can't help the small noise of excitement that escapes him.
"Yeah, I'm making a stir fry. Not planning on any meat tonight, that good?" Techno asks, a light chuckle clear in his voice.
He nods, knows that chat will let Techno know as he drifts closer. Techno's always been amazing with a blade, but he's positive hardly anyone else know that skill is also applied to more mundane things. He perches on the counter he's pretty sure Techno won't need and delights in watching the rest of the meal be prepared.
They eat it there in the kitchen, Techno talking between bites about what all everyone was doing in the syndicate meetup today. Dream doesn't contribute much. His throat has been sore today and just being able to listen to Techno talk, it soothes the prickles that he hadn't noticed were there. They were never given the chance to have long conversation like this in Pandora. Any talking was met with punishments no matter what the conversation was.
Dream takes over washing the dishes, shooing Techno away with as harsh of an insistence as he can manage. Techno stays. Keeps talking though the topic has shifted to how the check on the various animals went. Which of them are going to need a more through checkup, how the ones that were injured are getting on, and it eases his tension a bit more. Quiets those voices that were insisting Dream should leave the area without looking back.
Techno leans next to him, "I'm thinking it's time to wind down for the night. You good with that?"
He nods, ambling in a random path around the first floor as Techno tosses another log into the fireplace down here, grabs a book, and plops down next to Steve who doesn't even react to the weight of a full grown piglin against his side.
Dream hangs out down there for a bit but eventually climbs back up to the room Techno let him choose when they first got back here. It doesn't have the most decoration, but he has added random things Techno handed him and he liked.
He crawls under his covers, shifting around under them to find the perfect arrangement so he doesn't get overheated. His eyes close and he hopes tonight isn't going to have he jerking awake from a nightmare.
------______------______------______------______------______------
Dream jolts awake, breath caught in his throat as his eyes jerk around. His heart isn't racing like he had a nightmare, yet he's wide awake and staring into the gentle darkness around his room for seemingly no reason. Something is still crawling up his spine, insisting that there is something wrong.
It's not an uncommon feeling, unfortunately, so he shoves his blankets to the side, sets his feet on the floor only to jerk them up and slide them right into the slippers he's thankful Techno insisted he needed. His door swings open silently and he follows that silence out into the hall. He's not going to be able to start relaxing until he's checked that nothing is wrong around them. Sleep isn't even a possibility, but he might be able to get a fire set up on the first floor with Steve and read one of the books Techno keeps suggesting.
Only to pause before he takes more than two steps out of his room. His head tilts. Swivels to stare at Techno's closed door.
It was quiet, but he swears-
Techno's door is just as silent opening as Dream's and as soon as he can peak inside, his impossible thought is confirmed. Techno is curled into a tight ball on top of his nest, arms covering his head in a way that has Dream's chest aching because of how small Techno looks there. He's never, ever seen Techno not look like he can handle anything that's happening around them.
Right now, he looks exactly as small as Dream feels when he can't do something for the stupid reason of being stuck in Pandora.
There's another small, barely audible whimper and Dream finds himself slipping into the room. Drifting up to the nest and crouching next to it. He hesitates as he looks down at Techno, unsure what to do.
Techno's never needed his help dealing with this sort of thing. Maybe he should go off of what he remembers about piglin culture?
Slowly, his hand reaches out to rest on Techno's side. The other tenses, freezes for a horrifying second where Dream thinks he screwed things up, before the tension bleeds away with a faint sigh. Dream shuffles closer, presses his legs against Techno's back as he rubs small circles into his side. That helps even more and one of the arms covering Techno's head pulls away enough Dream can run his other hand over the bit he can reach.
Dream isn't sure how long he's there pressing against Techno and running hie fingers through thick pink hair, Just that as he keeps doing that, Techno's face smooths out, the tension leaves, and the nearly imperceptible sounds Techno is letting out peter to a stop.
His own eyes are growing heavy again, tiredness seeping back into him and it's not impossible for him to keep doing this as he lays down instead of sitting up. He shifts, curled more around Techno's head than his body as he keeps running his hand over Techno's head and starting to hum what he thinks is a lullaby.
**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**~~~~~~~**
AU Notes:
this is the first time dream saw techno even hinting at having some kind of ill effect after they left pandora. this is mainly because techno already has experience recovering from tramatic experiences and is using that experience to help himself and provide a safe space for dream.
the syndicate are all aware of the fact dream is there, they've all sworn to not tell anyone, though and are willing to work with what techno gives them. for different reasons, but they follow what he says.
hope you enjoyed!

random da inquisition companion thoughts
Solas is one of the best written characters in da and i love his role in inquisition. On a personal level he's an infuriating ass and i cant even complain much since i mostly agree with him about things. (when the most annoying person you've ever met is right). Solas always has a point uggg. There were so many egghead shippers on tumblr i couldn't interact with the tumblr da fandom without tripping over one which is why i was mostly on other sites or just by myself haven't really da posted until not and this is archiving stuff from discord and reddit. Got kinda annoying since while the characters are very good i was mostly here for elf lore in the old days. Now im a dwarf lore convert tho. Solas is straight because it was 2014 and he's a redditor, he's got that annoying straight boy energy.
Dorian, my ray of sunlight, a gleaming star. Dorian is precious. He cares so deeply for everything. He has so much love and compassion. Up until dorian every tevinter is cackling evil wizard slaver blood sacrifices. So dorian's character plays off those expectations built up through 2 games. In a cast hiding a lot or deliberately cultivating personas, it's notable that what Dorian is hiding (protecting) is his heart, the fact that he's actually a great guy that cares deeply.
I actually disliked the iron bull when i first played inquisition and you need to know Dorian is my fav character for this to make sense. Dorian is sexually repressed and iron bull lazer focuses in on insecurities and just cant help himself at picking at them (the natural troll he is). So if you put both of them unromanced in a party long enough they hook up and iron bull starts picking on dorian and i was ready to tear bull's throat out. Like leave dorian alone! Let him in his own time and pace gets over himself and embrace his attraction to big qunari men. Stop pushing him! The overt bullying just rubbed me the wrong way how Dorian while still unsure got pushed around so much. It took me like 8 years to come around on the iron bull.
Can I also say Bull's rizz is off the charts he somehow (social butterfly and ben-hassrath training) manages to get everyone to like him. He get wildly disparate people from vivienne to sera to like him. The only one resistant to his charms is solas because solas. And solas is half doing it out of principle.
Vivienne's internalized the treatment of mages as just and it's the basis of how she views herself as somehow exceptional and not like the other mages. It's this mix of the model minority myth, the myth of the self made man, pull the ladder up behind them mentality, and "But the leopards won't eat my face", which makes her an interesting character even if I personally hate her. Vivienne is in favor on any system that puts down the people around her and raises her up. So the more mages killed, imprisoned, tortured, etc., the less compeition there is. The more scared they are the more they rely on and boster her power. Rules that make her win or whatever the Cole quote is. This is in the context of mage circles where rules are for mages and not for templars, where rules are a tool to maintain power over mages. The cage they know vs the outside world they've been taught to fear. Her being a possible Divine has a lot of interesting implications mostly on how leverage based Orlesean politics are compared to say Ferelden's. And like many minority politicians appealing to the right she overcompensates by being more conservative (sunak, thomas, etc.)

Ref for Writers: Working in an Art Studio
For the last year, I've been working part-time at a small local art studio where people can come in to make all sorts of art projects using the space and materials. I finished my last shift there this month, so to commemorate my time there, here's what it was like to work in a place like that!
I'll try to cover fashion/wardrobe, social environment, physical environment, what kind of tasks are involved on the job, and some shenanigans too if any come to mind lol
Physical Environment
The art studio where I worked was located in an un-finished warehouse-looking section of a larger office building. The flooring is gray concrete slab, and the ceiling would be average height if more of the ceiling tiles were actually in place, but the rafters are completely exposed, giving another half-story of height to the space. The walls around the tiny storage room, break room, and office only went up to the rafters, so if you got on the big 8-foot ladder we used for reaching storage shelves and lightbulbs, you could theoretically climb straight over the walls to the other side. One time, someone accidentally locked the office key inside the office, so I gerry-rigged a fishing hook out of wire, string, and a popsicle stick, set up the big ladder outside the office, and climbed up top to get a vantage point where I could see the keys. I managed to fish out the keys and reel them up after like 5-10 minutes of throwing the line around! (It wasn't my first time having to fish an item out of a precarious location lol — the person closing with me that night was a brand new coworker and I didn't even realize how bizarre the whole thing probably was until i finished and she was flabbergasted lmao, kept talking about it for a whole week) (Speaking of the rafters. They have not been dusted in like 20 years. Do not try to climb over them you'll spontaneously develop asthma and die lol)
Do not ever expect an art studio to be pristinely clean lol. Tables, walls, and furniture covered not just with paint stains, but with actual dried paint globs and splatters. Decades-worth of it. We try to manage it of course, scraping the newest stuff up and scrubbing tables down, but at a certain point, it becomes part of the decor in designated spots. There were some tables that were permanently covered in years of paint splatters, and we still had to dust and wipe the bumpy surface down, but that paint was there to stay. For other tables, a scraper was my best friend, because there were always a few dried layers of glue and paint to remove by the end of the day. Sometimes, bits of fake moss and shreds of discarded collage paper get dried up in the mix and have to be thrown away entirely. Also, sweeping is an impressively infinite task. I don't know where all the dust and glitter comes from every day.
The sink clogs every month or so just from the sheer volume of paint and grout that gets stopped up in the pipes. We do our best to have customers wipe all grout off their hands before washing, but there's only so much we can do. Because it clogs so frequently, nobody's really surprised when it happens, and we usually just do our best to work around it for a couple weeks till it can be fixed again.
This kind of business is not lucrative. The materials are not cheap and the clean-up is hard work, so the prices add up to be higher than some people might expect just to keep the doors open. (Feel free to dm about pricing details cuz this post is long enough already lol) We have to store tons of items year round to save money on buying new materials every season, but there's not exactly a lot of extra money lying around to rent out more storage space either, so every shipment we receive is usually followed by a week of playing 10-foot Tetris in the time between helping customers, while squeezing around and tripping over boxes to access new and old supplies alike. All this out of sight of the customer, but only barely lol. Anyway, the storage "room" is really just a glorified walk-in closet, and it is TIGHT. It only fits half the storage in there anyway lmao — the rest is piled ceiling-high in the break room and the hall by the back door lol.
Social/Work Environment
The atmosphere of a place like this is so laid back and fun, especially after working in a soul-sucking environment like food service. You're surrounded by creativity of all sorts, with artists of all ages, making it a very supportive and low-stakes environment where mistakes are okay and experimentation is encouraged. It's so affirming to be in an environment where my skills and knowledge about art are actually useful. (Sometimes there will be a parent that gets upset about the price, but like. Your kid glued $75 dollars of necklace charms and action figures to their project while you sat there and watched. What do you want me to tell you lol)
It gets insane around summer and the holidays when kids are out of school and every parent in the tristate area is looking for some kind of activity to keep their kids occupied for a couple hours, but the rest of the year is very slow (except for a few random days every month or so when everything is suddenly crazy for no plausible reason). The studio is located in an area with a ton of other small businesses, so there's also a number of festivals in the fall where we would get so crowded that people were packed into the studio shoulder-to-shoulder from wall to wall. Nightmare. But really, most days are just like. 2-10 small groups total, for the whole day. It's nice. Probably makes it harder for the owner to break even, but it's nice.
Fashion/Wardrobe
Nobody cares if you look a little disheveled in an art studio. I mean, a lot of parents bring kids in to make art projects, so try not to look too beat-up or potential-kidnapper-y, but it's an art studio. People go in expecting to get messy, and you can get away with a lot of questionable or unusual fashion choices just through proximity to art supplies lol. Although keep in mind that anything you wear is at risk of being destroyed by said art supplies.
You have to have a completely separate wardrobe for working in a place like this, because the paint, grout, and glue do not come out in the wash. Every week, I cycled through various hand-me-down shirts and a couple designated pairs of jeans. I wore an old beat-up pair of combat boots every day — the kind of beat-up where the soles have completely split across the middle from constant use lol. Throw a studio-branded apron over top of all that and you're in uniform!
I like to paint my nails black, but the polish is quickly banged up from cleaning paintbrushes and interacting with grout, so it always inevitably looked patchy and chipped. And speaking of fingernails, it's best to keep them short. The grout and paint will get stuck up under there no matter how long they are, and your choices are either to leave that grit and grime up in there, or spend 5-15 minutes scraping and scrubbing it out after every shift, so you'll want nails that are easy to clean.
Tasks
I hated working the art camps/parties (so it's safe to assume all the job details not explicitly about camps/parties are in reference to my work on the open studio floor), but some coworkers really loved it. I used to attend the camps when I was little, but running them is a whole other experience, especially when there's a wide age range of kids in the group. Maybe it's cuz I'm kinda shy, but I always had a lot of trouble keeping the group's attention, and if you can't keep their attention, paint ends up where it's not supposed to be, expensive art supplies get accidentally broken, kids don't hear the rules and then start crying when they get in trouble for breaking them, other kids cry when their classmate breaks a rule but gets away with it because I was too busy to notice, etc etc. The thing I liked the least, though, was that if I was interacting with a kid, I wanted to give them my full attention so they knew they were important and heard and getting the help they needed, and I just couldn't do that with a group of 16 kindergartners lol — that's why I preferred working the open studio floor. You sometimes get tipped for working parties tho, so that's a plus. Oh, side note: Do Not let the parents of all the party guests stay for the party - there is Not enough room, and more importantly, none of the kids will listen to an instructor they don't know when their parent/guardian is literally Right There, and then the parents get mad at the kids for not listening to you but the kids don't understand so they become even more attentive to the parents and it's a whole mess and nobody has a good time. The parents can sit at a table on the studio floor if they need to.
Speaking of kids and parents... sometimes as an employee that interacts with kids, you can tell way too much about a kid's home life from the way they act or the things they say or the way they completely change when their parent/guardian comes to pick them up. And you can keep an eye out, but you can't ever really know anything for sure in that tiny little window of time you have with them, and there's really not much you can do to change their circumstances. All you can really do is be a positive experience for that short amount of time, or at least try your best not to be a negative one. You can't really offer anything long-term, but you can try to make sure they have a little space to breathe, just in case it's the only chance they get today. I'm sure actual teachers will have much more insightful things to say about that though.
Anyway. *clears throat*
On the open studio floor (which was mainly the section where I worked), customers of all ages could just come in and we would help them more individually, kinda like waiters. I liked this so much better because I didn't have to be monitoring 15 billion children at once — I could just focus on the person/people in front of me and be as helpful as possible. Probably about half the open studio customers were adults, and the other half were kids. As a demographic, I'm not really drawn towards kids (although I guess I'm not really drawn to people in general), but I was surprised to learn that many of them seemed to like me, which was really sweet — there's one kid I'll never forget who was really shy the first time he came in, but every time he came back after that, he would run straight up to me and hug me around the knees (and to think I barely remembered him the first time it happened lmao I was like oh my god who is this child I'm gonna fall over like a Star Wars AT-AT). Adults, on the other hand, were nice because they were lower maintenance, but also a little awkward sometimes because it can involve small talk lol. We mostly got young parents accompanying their kids or people around retirement age, but there were also sometimes young adults that would come in as individuals or with a couple friends. Thankfully none of them ever tried to take me down like a Star Wars AT-AT.
The "dishes" are a manageable but never-ending task — there are always paint brushes, glue brushes, and palettes to clean. When we can't get to the dishes right away, us studio assistants usually just collect all the brushes in a tub of water in the basin of the industrial sink to keep them from drying out before we can clean them. The white plastic palettes are what you really gotta watch out for though, cuz if the paint dries on those for more than a couple hours, it's a nightmare trying to wash them off. Oh also, sometimes customers try to be helpful by washing their own stuff, which is very sweet, but we usually end up having to rewash the supplies they used anyways since most people don't know how to do it correctly.
Some of my coworkers hated sorting the mosaic tiles, but I loved it. Every time a customer makes a mosaic project, they get to choose as many tiles as they like from our inventory, but people aren't gonna count out exactly how many tiles they need when they can just pile a few handfuls into their tile tray. All the extra tiles then have to be sorted back into their respective containers (organized by color and shape). Sure, sometimes it would get a little old on days when the sorting pile got really big, but there are literally sorting-type mobile games designed exactly like this lol it's kinda fun.
Grouting is also really nice once you get over the mess of it all. The methodical application and the texture of wet grout on tile beneath your fingers is kind of nice to lose yourself in - just letting the noises around you fade out and allowing your mind to wander while you work. You can never let yourself get too immersed on shift though, cuz customers always have to come first, but those days where it's just you and some grout orders are the best. (For context, sometimes customers would pay us to grout their mosaic projects for them after they'd laid all the tiles) Yeah though you can technically apply grout with tools like popsicle sticks and such but I found that my hands getting caked in grout was already inevitable, so I might as well just use my hands. We did have some plastic disposable gloves in the back for folks who really wanted to keep their hands clean, but they were really thin and usually too big, and you also can't really feel what you're doing with gloves on, so you're more likely to slice your fingers on the edges of stained glass tiles and such.
Do Not Let The Children Pour Their Own Paint. When a customer wants colors on their palette, we pour it for them. If we don't, entire bottles of unused paint Will end up being wasted down the drain, because customers almost always pour more paint than they need. (Not that they're doing it on purpose — paint comes out fast and spreads out more than you would expect, so it's generally a Skill Issue). When it's busy, though, sometimes customers are just gonna help themselves without asking, and there's nothing you can really do about it except let it slide.
It doesn't matter if your gym buddy is pregnant, painting an entire 20ft wall with two coats of chalkboard paint by yourself will make you regret skipping the gym for the past few months. It's a hell of an arm/shoulder workout, especially if you're woefully un-ambidextrous. It will also likely take more than one shift if there are enough customers that you have to stop to help your coworkers. The solitude while working on it was nice tho
And that's everything coming to mind at the moment
Even with the little annoyances, I had such a great time working at the art studio and I'm really gonna miss it. I don't expect this to travel very far lol but in case it's helpful to anyone, feel free to reach out for questions or further details!
Edit: This short is exactly what it was like lmao
