💖 Day 3.5 is now available! 💖

For the last couple of months, only Server Boosters had access to the 3.5 update... Buuuuut now it's available for everyone to play in the 14DWY Discord — and soon itch.io once I'm happy with the QA and state of the game — so please don't feel pressured to join unless you want to!!

What's been added to the 3.5 version?

📺 Streamer Mode!

I've been told that it's difficult to stream and monetise age-restricted videos on YouTube and Twitch, so I added an option to remove the sexual content and strong language used in the demo.

Now y'all can invite Ren into your bed for cuddles without putting your streamer career on the line /silly /lh

This won't affect the 18+ rating or dark themes/elements of the game, however! Although Streamer Mode will prevent you from seeing any "gruesome" CGs in the future, most of the core elements of the game will still be tied to the choices and decisions you make. So you won't miss out on the overall experience by using streamer mode!!

⚙️ Custom Pronouns!

It only took me one entire year to get around to it, but you can finally choose your own preferred pronouns (or use a set of pronouns instead)... At the cost of being able to change them mid-game ^^;

Since the original pronoun screen wouldn't update until a new scene was displayed, I temporarily disabled the feature. But once I find a workaround, I'll bring it back!

💗 Choose how others perceive you!

You can now choose how the cast and narration perceive you! Originally, the narration was kept strictly gender-neutral (outside of pronouns and genitalia picked by the player), but this will soon change in future updates.

For more clarity: you don't get to choose the words specifically, but you can choose between masculine, feminine, and androgynous terms!

📋 Separate top and bottom genitalia!

You can now choose your tatas and pps separately! >:3

Alongside that, you can also choose your preferred body type!

I removed the "both" genitalia option because a few players still assumed it was an obscure version of "intersex". That wasn't my intention and I don't want to mislead anyone, so I took it out for now ^^;

I also didn't want to include a screenshot of the new genitalia choices in action (because it's NSFW), so y'all get the same character menu screen for the nth time instead lmao

📱 Relationship Screen Overhaul!

You can now change your own status for more immersion, and long-term Server Boosters will eventually be able to submit and use their own icon within the game as well!

Stalking finding your friends has now become easier by using "Buddy Maps"; a new app that allows you to see the location of all the cast members!

I want to offer players more incentive to check the relationship screen since they tend to miss the status updates, so hopefully this might help ;v;

It also says it "updates every few hours" so folks don't go overboard and check every 5 seconds to see where Ren is gdsghf (also keep in mind that he's a hacker lol)

🖤 Additional Scenes Update!

Day 2 received a brand new CG!!!!! Originally, I planned on only adding a few CGs sporadically throughout the game, but it didn't feel right to leave Day 2 so... empty... so I added a brand new CG to (hopefully) make things feel more balanced and natural!

If you decline Teo's offer on Day 3, Leon will now call and try to convince you to reconsider. However, players are still allowed to decline, and if they do, they'll reach a dead end.

After listening to feedback on itch, I changed some of the dialogue during Days 1-3 to make it seem more consistent! They're only small changes though, so it's honestly not worth looking for sdgjssga

🎶 Updated BGM and SFX!

I wanted to try out a different style of music to see if it fits the vibe of 14DWY more! The BGM features more acoustics to suit the "beachy" theme of Corland Bay, though I made a conscious effort to include piano elements as well to stay true to the original!!

I figured it'd be better to give players a live example before I make a poll (to see if they prefer the change or not) and publish it to Itch.

Some new SFX have also been added, though it's very minimal and honestly not that noticeable.

How to download and play the update?

(warning: clicking on the following links will open Discord!!) To download the Day 3.5 update, simply join the 14DWY Discord server, verify your age, and visit the "14dwy-updates" channel!

Alternatively, you can also wait until the update is publicly released on Itch to play it as well!! (It normally gets released shortly after a round of QA testing/getting feedback from the server, though I may release it earlier if I feel like it hehe ^^)

It's an excellent piece of work, and a great taste of what's to come. I've also watched their Cascade animation - although, according to Vamp, it does contain some subtle spoilers that I missed.

I've been able to check out a lot of the earlier Ichellor videos, but I'm probably going to have to wait a while before I can see their full body of work. Looking forward to it, though.

I suppose Terezi's abilities could indeed be themed around sensing outcomes, rather than decisions, as I previously theorized - or, it could also represent some abstract 'Mind' idea with ties to both. With only one Mind Player to analyze, it's hard to say anything definitively.

They're literally blood brothers - and a handshake is also pretty decent shorthand for what I think Blood's all about.

Mind you, I'm not sure if the troll session did lack this interpretation of Blood. Hivebent seemed to imply that the trolls were, in fact, an extremely effective team, all thanks to Karkat's leadership - and the trolls have forged plenty of meaningful relationships across their group, too. If Blood represents strong relationships, then the trolls have Blood in spades, as well as hearts, clubs, and diamonds.

There's no definitive answer - but personally, I think that John was at least able to pick up that buckets were an innuendo in troll culture.

Charlotte and Lorenzo once joked about how the ideal Christmas present for them would be someone willing to look after their daughter for a few days as they took the time to have a little trip to enjoy just the two of them. You and Charles, however, weren't joking when you said you'd happily take Céline for the week while they recharged their batteries. Today, since it was sunny, you and Charles decided it would be nice to go to the park.

"Let's go, then!", Charles cheered, pulling the stroller closer to you so you could strap her in safely before you left your place.

"We are going to see the duckies - do you like duckies, Céline? And we can just sit in there and make some flowers bracelets, too, auntie Y/N will teach us", Charles spoke as you walked to the park, a few people noticing him but thankfully not making a big scene out of it.

"I keep thinking about the ice cream parlour, hopefully they gave my favourite", you admitted, kissing his cheek, "but the duckies are a great selling point, too", you winked.

You had been sitting near the benches for a little while, flower chain bracelets already done as Céline started getting hungry, "how about I go get your ice cream and you start on her yogurt?", Charles suggested, kissing the top of your head and tickling the little girl's tummy before heading to the shop.

"That was a big one, baby girl!", you cooed as Céline ate all of the yogurt on the spoon, cleaning the remnants on her lips with the spoon before going back in on the pot when you were interrupted, "I'm sorry, dear", a female voice called.

Turning around, you saw a beautiful older woman, you guessed around her seventies, "this fell from your husband's pocket, and I bet your daughter would miss it soon", she said as she handed you the small stuffed toy Céline loved so much.

"Thank you so much, neither of us noticed and she would have made a fuss if we didn't have it back home", you smiled, "but we're not-", you were interrupted again by Céline's squeal when she saw Charles come back.

"Here's your ice cream, amour", Charles said as the lady smiled, "I was just bringing your daughter's toy back - it slipped from your pocket", she explained, sensing Charles' curiosity about her presence.

"Merci - can you say Merci, Céline?", he tried as the little girl babbled something that resembled the word.

"Enjoy them when they're this young, times truly flies by! You have such a beautiful family", she complimented before waving the three of you goodbye, joining who you presumed was her husband as they walked out of the park hand in hand.

"I tried correcting her but then you showed up", you said, "we are family, though", Charles reasoned, taking a spoonful of your ice-cream, "but I know what you mean. She's not wrong though, we look like a cute little family", he smiled.

"One day", you smiled, "one day, amour, we're going to have a little one of our own to squish a fill with love, won't we Céline? Do you want little cousins to play with?", he said as he took her into his lap, boucing her on his knee as she giggled loudly.

Peter Lorre:

he's pretty much the archetype of the scrungly little guy. the blueprint. the example by which all other scrungly little guys are judged

The entire point of his iconic role in Casablanca (apart from introducing the central plot mcguffin) was to be LITTLE and SCRUNGLY to make Bogie look even cooler. And Maggot in Corpse Bride - the littlest scrungliest guy in that film - was a parody of him.

Between his big eyes, wheezy laugh, short stature, and expressive faces, Peter Lorre achieved icon status as the scrungliest, littlest guy in Hollywood. His scrungly little guy energy was often contrasted with the more typical masculinity of the leading man, but whether this contrast was meant to make him seem especially sinister, comedic, or pathetic, it always left an unforgettable impression!

The perfect sniveling character actor, “scrungly” is the first word that comes to mind when I think of him.

I'm sure somebody else has already submitted him (if not then ???) but he's a cute kind of scrungly little guy. He's got a distinctive nasal voice with an accent that is instantly recognizable and often imitated. His later horror movies are so much fun, especially when he's playing off of Vincent Price. He's so good at being unhinged, creepy, or manic, but also pathetic and sympathetic.

Classic scrungly hollywood golden age little guy who was friends with Humphrey Bogart and still played some of the wettest most sniveling characters ever committed to celluloid (complimentary) there is a deep despair and darkness in many of his characters that enhances his scrungly

To be clear, I am one of those people who will argue that Lorre is one of the most underrated film actors, but the POINT is that he's also just a scrungly delight. A delightfully pocket-sized man. Somehow endearing even when he is being actively amoral (see esp. Casablanca. "I found myself much more reasonable!") The faces he makes while doing the Russian cossack dance with a butter knife between his teeth in Silk Stockings make me laugh just thinking about them.

Wikipedia described his typical characters as "timidly devious", lots of weird little villains and evil sidekicks that are pretty horrifying but still manage to be sort of pathetic and the very definition of "poor little meow meow". His look and voice and mannerisms are so iconic they're still imitated

Cartoons for the next century have and will continue to include Peter Lorre-esque characters when needed to up the scrunge factor (see Bugs Bunny and so many more).

I think Arsenic and Old Lace is his quintessential "scrungly" performance. He's so put-upon and tired...all he wants is sleep and some schnapps! I wanna do some more fun stuff in this little community we've got going on. And since the guys aren't really doing anything currently, why don't we go back in time and reminisce the old times. A blast from the past, if you will.

Maybe this can be a weekly thing, where we all look at an old video and can all be giddy together and discuss things that don't matter to anybody else in the world. We can look at interviews, clips from live shows, music videos, and anything else you find.

Daily Check-in Septmeber 14th, 2023 🎀

This was a good day. Busy, absolutely, but good nonetheless. Had a meeting with my 1st dietetics mentor, and she was absolutely the sweetest and sent me an email after our meeting about the projects she wants me to work on currently, as her mentee. Cannot wait to meet my 2nd mentor next week! Also, I got asked to go into work, so I pulled a 6.5-hour shift when I didn't need to, but I need money so it's worth it.

🩷 What I Ate Today -

Breakfast - tuna w mayo and crackers

Lunch - iced coffee, chicken parm, noodles, one garlic bread, some asparagus

Dinner - chik fil a sandwich, medium fries, polynesian sauce

Extra - 3 more coffees in addition to the one I had at lunch

I am overconsuming caffiene so much right now, but I have been understandably so tired, so it's definitely helping me get through my days and weeks right now. I also genuinely enjoy the taste of the coffee I make, so that's always fun. I did just but a matcha set online, so hopefully, I can learn to make my own matcha and cut back on coffee for a bit.

i don't trust the U.S government but taking this survey will give Congress an insight on peoples views on these events. As long as people are choosing the options that are opposed of being pro-Israel or bigoted i think it'll be fine (in theory)

here are two questions that are very misleading

as you can see they are trying to paint china's government and immigrants in a bad picture, hopefully anyone who is reading this understands that

1) the U.S government is using China's government in a way to look like they steal Americans information but in reality they don't care about our privacy. if they did, Mark Zuckerberg (owner of Facebook) wouldn't have several cases of taking peoples data and selling it

also that banning TikTok is not because of peoples information, it's about the fact that U.S citizens have an easier access to learn things that the Government doesn't want them to know and spread (e.g. Israel colonizing and commiting genocide on the people of Palestine) there is even a video of a government official talking about this (if I can find it I'll come back and link it here)

2) calling immigrants violent (probably referring to middle eastern ppl and muslims) is a way to convince people to deport them, obviously being xenophobic, and other stuff

if you can understand that these questions are bigoted and quite loaded it should be easy to understand which option is morally right.

at the end of the survey they will ask you what topics you care about and what Congress should focus on. don't leave it empty.

say something like:

• call for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza

• stop the funding of the illegal occupation of Israel

• hold big tech American companies accountable for using unethical Congon cobalt to make electronic devices

• literally anything important

putting one of these in the box before submitting will highlight that people want the government to call for a permanent cease fire and to stop funding Israel and etc.

Hosietober 2024 Information

What is Hosietober?

Every year for the past few years, the Hosie fandom has organized an October event to celebrate the creativity of Hosies and our love for the ship. Throughout the month, fans are encouraged to post their Hosie creations (stories, art, GIFs, edits, music videos, etc.) in accordance with daily prompts.

What are this year’s prompts? Can I suggest a prompt? How?

I have no idea how the previous Hosietobers were organized (I always found out about them a few days into October); I asked around and no one seemed to know of anyone/any group organizing this year’s prompts, so I seem to have been deputized to organize this year’s event.

I have a number of ideas of my own, but since this is a fandom festival (not an Uncle Asad-only one!), I’m asking Hosies to submit prompt ideas through this Wednesday, and then next weekend I’ll post the final list.

Generally speaking, prompts should be fanfic tropes OR words/ideas related to Hosie or the season (northern hemisphere autumn…sorry southern hemisphere folks 😢). You can see examples from 2022 and 2023 on my tumblr.

Please feel free to leave a comment on this post by the end of Wednesday, September 25, with up to 3 ideas. (If you’d like to submit anonymously, you can use my Asks.) If someone has submitted the same idea as you, that’s fine; I’ll use repeat suggestions as a gauge of popularity of the idea.

Favorite moments this week… if you’re still taking asks what the smallest joys

LUCA HIII ^_^ boy do i have things to say.

ok. So. the first thing i can think of is having finished lobotomy corporation on saturday i found the ending Really really really satisfying and unexpected. it could not have possibly been more fucked Consequence-wise. but i still thought it was so strong and GOOD and a really smooth segue into library of ruina Which ive made significant progress on since then and am absolutely loving so far😁😁😁😁😁😁😁i dont know exactly how far i am into ruina right now but so far the game has been treating me so much better than lobcorp i think im just naturally really really bad at micromanagement games. ruina is much more battle-oriented and deckbuildery Yet more forgiving and requires less retries and grinding (at least in my experience) which was just a breath of fresh air once i got adjusted with the mechanics. SIGH. I LOVE VIDEO GAME

next thing is when i took my placement exam on sunday that i needed for college and got a whopping 98% on even though there were at least three times throughout the experience where i was sweating bullets and making sure i didnt make any stupid mistakes like graphing a curve ever so slightly wrong or mixing up the formulas for amplitude & period or secant & cosecant or whatever . some aspects of the test that i was Completely unaware about were that absolutely no partial credit was awarded and ALSO i couldnt return to questions i previous attempted So anything i pressed submit on was final Which meant i had to pay super close attention to everything i did which just added to the pressure. BUT I SURVIVED. I SURVIVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. I WAS PROMPTED TO VIEW MY RESULTS AS SOON AS I FINISHED AND I LITERALLY CLASPED MY HANDS TO MY HEAD WHEN I SAW THE 98 I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN SOMETHING MUCH LOWER. im so glad thats over i had the yummiest slice of cake after that and slept so soundly ^_^.

a few more minor things before i finish....... more of the roses i planted back in like late april or may have finally been blooming and they look so pretty i can see them from the office where i do work sometimes :3 i also have some calla lilies that have been growing since early spring (some of them have little pink tinges at their tips and im not sure what exactly is causing that but it makes them look so delicate and cute...) so ya my front yard is Plentiful.

lastly. we got the hugest watermelon a couple days ago and i had a few pieces that were being kept cold in the fridge today. i went outside on the patio to eat them and it was around 8pm so the sun was setting and the air was a ltitle cooler and the backyard smelled like magnolia flowers coming from the magnolia tree thats literally taller than our house. Needless to say it was a very refreshing experience i felt sooo peaceful. i imagine its going to get even hotter from here on out for the next couple of months but hopefully the evenings and nights wont be as bad. <3

The Doomed Hometown (name taken from the trope, obviously) is a project I started because I find disasters and response to them an interesting field of study, and because I enjoy overthinking and worldbuilding for fiction, and at least a few other people do. The point of posts here is to take a given fictional calamity or disaster from anything (a book, a video game, a movie, a TV show, an anime or manga, whatever) and give it an analysis and in-depth deep dive with research, knowledge from real-world disasters, application of known scientific knowledge as of 2025, speculation on causes and effects, and more.

Ideally, you will have learned how to flesh out calamities and disasters in a way beyond how much fiction often handwaves them/doesn't deep dive them enough ("oh yeah, an atomic explosion happened in my backyard, now to the NEXT episode where we care more about the budding office romance filler!). Maybe, even, you'll have learned something that might save your or someone else's life if Shit Hits The Fan where you are in real life. (And to meet that quotient right here right now: Never stand near a glass window in high winds, during an active shooter event, or if things are exploding nearby.) ----- CW/TW for every post: the very nature of this tumblr blog means that there will likely be frank discussion of calamities and disasters both natural and manmade, injury, death, violence, greed causing human suffering, and almost all things related. Posts will have specific TWs/CWs if they go above and beyond that.

Real events will often be referenced but will be specifically tagged, and I will do my best to be respectful around referencing them (e.g. I will not post pictures of real dead bodies or real gore etcetera, though there may be textual references to such or reference links might show such if it is inescapable)

Almost all content here aside from the event being discussed itself - which will obviously be a 10 on The Scale of Canon/Headcanon Likelihood will range from 3 (canon neutrality, not contradicted directly except, possibly, by "it's just a ____, who cares") to 9 (implicit canon, with proof). Average range however will be a 4-7, as the point is to death of the author the event and be "if I was writing this disaster with research, how would that happen."

On that note, if you are literally angry that someone is doing this and devoting time to it - I cannot help you with that except by advising you to block this tumblr and move on rather than get angry that someone cares Too Much about something you don't.

On the other hand, constructive, researched commentary, questions, and criticism (and participation via comments or reblogs) are very welcome! I only bite the heads off of trolls.

Political leaning by me (the only current poster) is leftist minarchist/socialist. Disasters are often inherently political both in real life and fiction, so that will be addressed and handled. That said people of almost all political leanings are welcome to read and interact, except fascists and nazis, who will be banned on sight for obvious reasons. Being an asshole to other people (including the use of slurs or blaming real marginalized people for any disaster *because* of who they are rather than any specific actions) will also get you a block.

Finally, the Suggestion Box is named that because it's a place for you to suggest things for me to cover. Of course I may not (and I might do stuff out of order, or I might just not feel like it etc). If I don't really know or care about a specific thing enough to cover it and you do, I am potentially open to your submitting a post to be linked/reblogged. (For example, I'm not a Marvel superfan so if you want the Thanos Snap covered, I might ask for you or someone else to cover it, then link or RB your post.) You can also comment on posts I've made myself there, if you don't feel like adding your input in a comment or want to keep it private. That said, anons are OFF because I want to keep feedback on topic and constructive, something anons are notoriously bad at.

Anyway, that should be all, and now for my poll on what you want to see me cover. This will name some events, mostly from video games and one anime, but there's an Open Poll slot for you to choose and comment with something you would rather prefer.
