This is just one of the AU development options where Cyran could become a graveborn. Of course, using Feli as an example, we were shown that Merlin's healing magic is not omnipotent and he cannot create graveborn. But I am haunted by the game convention - that you can take any character that Merlin is familiar with and this character can "die" on the battlefield, but in the end, in case of victory, they go as if nothing happened, as if no one died and these are ordinary things.

For this AU, Cyran was chosen not only because he is my favorite character, but also because he has the most complaints about Merlin as a rival. After all, he is essentially a nobleman who eventually became a court mage, but we, as a player, can drag him around all sorts of dirty dungeons, swamps and forests. He must have a lot of discontent about this. Not to mention the constant revival, not even as a graveborn. Considering that he immediately recognized Merlin, although at the very beginning of the game we cast a spell that changes our appearance, I can only assume that he reacts more sharply to these revivals than other characters. (I also wanted to take my Merlin, but the original one fit here better.)

Throwing out a One-Word Wednesday, largely because I’ve been working on the S7 project all night and I don’t want to say good night to Morse yet, but I can’t stare at my monitor anymore.

Given my headspace, today’s word is… Angst.

So this post got me thinking about vampires because of course it did, and something possessed me

“Buck…?”

Evan had heard it from across the street, that wasn’t his name, but it seemed to pull something in his chest. His nearly still heart skipping in a way he hadn’t felt in years. He was supposed to be looking for shelter from the sun, the sky a ticking clock ready to burn him into a pile of ash.

But he couldn’t help but turn to look, and there on the other side, standing illuminated under a lamp, was an older man. He had salt and pepper hair with a distinct loose strand, his face rugged and creased with age. Evan didn’t recognize this man. But something in him felt calm.

Evan didn’t know how to feel calm much anymore. Not since he woke up in the woods all those years ago, covered in blood. He only knew hunger and hunting. The itch in his fangs that craved blood. The knowledge that he wasn’t human.

“Buck? Is that really you…?”

It snapped him out of his thoughts, this human should be thankful Evan had already had his fill for the night.

“It’s me? Eddie?” The older man was staring, he looked like he was talking to a ghost, if only he knew. “Where have you been…?”

Evan frowned some, the man- Eddie- sounded so hurt and worried all in one, and it tugged at him in ways he couldn’t understand. He could only shake his head some, offering disappointed confusion; Evan did not know this man.

Eddie let out a sigh of air, running a hand through his hair, his demeanor instantly changing, “Sorry, I thought you were-“ he briefly glanced at Evan’s birthmark, his whole face twisting in confusion, “You’re just a spitting image of an old friend of mine, only he went missing probably 15 years ago at this point.” And you look like you haven’t aged a day, Evan Buckley.

Evan blinked, tilting his head in curiosity. His ability to pick up on thoughts only comes through every now and then, but that was a very convenient time for it to. Perhaps this Eddie did know him. Or at least-

“Because I haven’t,” Evan was likely making a mistake right now, “aged a day that is.” He closed his eyes then, willing his fangs to drop, and when they next opened they were solid pools of ink. On instinct he heard the man’s heart pick up, smelled the sweat of fear, and he willed himself to breathe and not lose control.

“I sadly do not know who you are, Eddie, but you know my name,” another grounding breath, “but that is all you know. You don’t know me. I’m not the same person anymore.”

“That’s okay, Buck, I don’t mind getting to know you again.”

Full on believe that the writers made chozen go back to Okinawa before the whole Johnny and Daniel argument because they knew that Johnny wouldn’t even have been able to finsh that sentence about mr miyagi being a liar and theif if chozen was there because chozen would have kicked his ass right there wouldn’t even let Johnny get the sentence out

And I also believe that he definitely would have went after Tory and helped her calm down or calm everyone down and let them take a break and definitely he would have agreed with Daniel and Amanda about stopping the fight

Like. They (thought they) needed that conflict to happen. (For some reason) And it wasn't going to if they had given a shit about character growth. Chozen very much was a steadying presence between Daniel and Johnny. He was Daniel's ride or die. He wouldn't have let that stand. Not only because it was stupid to fight, but also due to the blatant disrespect tbh. He has shown clearly he stands up for Daniel and miyagi do above all else.

I feel like he got the same treatment a girlfriend gets? Oh, the plot would be simpler with them involved, get them out of there. And like, where in the world is Carmen Diaz because she has so been reduced to a lamp. (And would probably give him a piece of her mind, which she never used to be afraid to do in the first two seasons. But i guess if you're in a relationship with someone you're not allowed to disagree) Like, for a while he was "confused but got the spirit" about other cultures, but as with everything else to do with Johnny's character they seemed to walk that back for some reason?

Literally, Mr zabka. I am so sorry they did this to you. They nerfed you hard.

Re, the thief comment, I still can't believe that made it in the show. That's an entire new level of disrespect. I know I'm using that word a lot but it fits. It's not just shoddy writing or bad character development, but feels legitimately mean spirited as a sort of "take that" to the original trilogy and its themes.

Which they obviously had to take some offense to given they were still caught up on it 30 years later, enough to write their own fanfic about it from their own POV. But it seemed more fair and even in the first two seasons before a lot of, what seems like petty dislike, came out through the show. Which also happened to coincide with COVID and a new wave of fans who Didn't Get It. And I do think them taking away all of Johnny's development was a way of appeasing those "he's so cool because he's un PC" fans

I still can't get over how the show seemingly turned into the antithesis of the movies. How there was so much promise and character growth only to throw it away for a bigger budget, more fight scenes, and memes.
