I’m old as hell and older FOB fans are so weird about the youngins. I always feel like the old person at the home sharing my stories with the Youth and not weirdly smug about how I checked FOB’s website every day to try and see if Pete would finally reveal which song off of FUTCT didn’t reference sex.

Tbh i think the shipping debate (specifically peterick v petekey) has no point in getting as heated as it does bc theyre both fiction regardless of what people say. Neither ship has truly solid evidence that makes one more valid than the other, so everything is all left up to theories and speculation about the events of over 15 years ago. Like, i def have a ship i like more than the other but i dont see the point in being such a diehard fan :/

It parallels the sun and moon imagery we've gotten on previous merch, which is so Peterick coded, and this is at least the second time they've featured lyrics on their merch, about the faded line between friendship and romance, after the "Part-Time Soulmate" and "Full-Time Problem" tees ..

Hahahahah while I ABSOLUTELY agree with you, I also know for a fact that the Petekey shippers consider this to be a special message to Mikey Way. (I haven't seen them saying this, but I know they are out in force right now for this festival.)

(I have nothing against Petekey shippers. It isn't MY ship, as is obvious from my blog, but it's cool. But I find it fascinating because Pete Wentz's life choices are like optical illusions. the specific trigger isnt something i wanna air out publicly but its something ive been feeling for a while. just this thought that bandom is constantly divided against itself- in many ways. i used to be big on mcrblr (i think i peaked at 500 followers?) and i can tell you firsthand there's like, a weekly fucking shitshow where the whole mcr fandom jerks themselves off about how anti-racist they are for yelling at a random frankgirl for not liking ray more (ignore that he's harder to write RPF about because he keeps his personal life so private) (ignore that RPF largely impacts how popular band members are in the fandom) or a random petekey shipper for run-of-the-mill tinhatting (but we don't get mad at frerardies who think millions is about frank?) (oh right, because we can't call them racist for it) and while it isnt on my dash all the time its still a fandom that's mostly discourse-riddled chronically online teenagers who think crying about how it's just SO insensitive to joke about buying a band member's childhood home is going to solve actual real-world social justice problems. and it shows. :v

okay i need help choosing my bandom big bang fic. here’s a more in depth explanation of my ideas so far:

1. the original intended zombie apocalypse fic:

a month after the world ends, pete and his friends are struggling to survive at a motel on the outskirts of chicago. while on a run to a pharmacy to get medicine for a girl in their group who is sick, they meet mikey, who had been trapped there for a week. he joins their group and convinces them to make a cross-country road trip to find his prepper brother in new jersey, with the promise of food and weapons when they get there. it’s not an easy journey, though, and they lose a lot of people along the way. hopeful ending.

2. the fic i have the most written for and also my favorite kinda?

a high school au - pete’s girlfriend, ashlee, tragically passes away in a car accident during her sophomore year of high school. pete blames herself for her death, and struggles to cope with her loss, spiraling into a series of unhealthy relationships, drug use and implied self harm. includes flashbacks from ashlee’s perspective, and side petekey. possibly also scenes from mikey’s point of view since he has problems of his own. super angsty. possibly hopeful ending.

3. the fic that is not even started and is very overwhelming but maybe a good idea?

girl mikey character study from the years 1997-2005, featuring...

- tumultuous on and off dating/friends with benefits situation with gabe saporta that spans the entire fic and is possibly endgame

- struggles with eating disorders and drug use

- an intense summer fling with pete that ends in a disastrous falling out with both him AND gabe, but gets resolved eventually

- her dating girls era maybe idk

4. something else. please don’t make me do something else.
