Do you think (in '12) Raph painted the undersides of their skateboards?
I was gonna headcanon a “you betcha!” but my brain would not shut up so we get some real canon analysis and investigation.
Nothing is ever simple with me. Sorry y’all-
First I wanna look at his room:
Tumblr media
And this poster that looks drawn:
Tumblr media
All the other posters have a fakeness to them. Backgrounds, shading, color schemes- everything you would expect to have from a movie poster. A general vibe behind the kinds of movies that he likes- but not this one?
My assumption? A drawing. Self made poster.
Proof that this teen draws and paints? Possibly. Likely.
Next I wanna look at the skateboards:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Good use of stickers. Very used- probably several years attached.
Mikey’s pops, Donnie’s techy, Raph’s skull, and Leo’s…
(If Leo’s isn’t a TMNT Easter egg I should probably give up turtles because that’s 100% what it is don’t quote me in that)
Leo’s looks like some kind of comic strip. Probably from a comic about mutants saving humans. Kid has always like his heroes.
👏 So the skateboards are specifically decorated to match each turtle. Which is a sus coincidence to simply fish out of a dumpster.
So it would stand to reason that someone painted each board intending it for them. The paint is chipping and stickers are scratched up, so this painting had to have happened quite a few rides ago (depending on the turtle, since Donnie’s board looks cleaner than the others which could mean they don’t always go out to skate the sewers all together.)
Could the turtles have done their own boards?
Well, Mikey sure didn’t. He’s nowhere near that skill level yet.
Tumblr media
Could Donnie?
He’s definitely got the drawing skills…
Tumblr media
But he seems to prefer to leave those for blueprints. He really isn’t much of a painter, I think. When they first get the Shellraiser, Donnie has it hidden away while he works on it. When he introduced his brother to it, it has the same graffiti that it had when they first got the vehicle from Leatherhead + teeth & red mask.
When Donnie does paint things, he seems to do the bare minimum. Turn that metal pieces yellow or that mental piece green. He’s not to focused on decorations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t really know if Leo does much artistically.
He does paint a pretty good 2-
Tumblr media
But there’s also marks made outside of the lines, of which there are none of on those skateboards. And I really don’t think this cuts him out to paint intricately with a small brush.
So if none of them are able, that leaves the most well known painter.
Mr. Venus designer himself:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Venus looks so clean. This turtle has clearly been playing with paints for a while. When I contrasted Venus with the humans on the skateboard, I do think I see similaries with how the people are drawn- scrawny, loopy words, solid color background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Venus is as clear as Mikey’s gorilla and Donnie’s (motherboard?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly I wanna contrast the poster and Raph’s board.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something about the textures/lines taste similar to me.
BUT
I’m no artist. Just a writer. Grain of salt and whatnot.
To summarize: I’ve never thought about it before, but…
Yes! Yes, I absolutely do! ✨✨

[prologue], [chapter one], [here], [chapter three], [chapter four]
o2. But I can't get her outta my sight
Declan sat in his study, a sanctuary of muted tones and understated elegance. The polished surface of his mahogany desk reflected the faint glow of the desk lamp, its circle of light casting the rest of the room into a warm shadow. Shelves of books lined the walls, their spines forming a mosaic of knowledge and ambition accumulated over the years.
A hint of cigar smoke clung to the air.
A stack of notes lay before him, meticulously organized yet untouched. He had intended to review them for tonight’s show on Venturer, he has studied and written everything down for the past week. Yet his pen had stilled, his attention wandering far from the political breakdowns and exposés he usually found energizing.
Instead, his mind was tangled in thoughts of Cassie Jones.
The doubt in her eyes was striking—not just a fleeting hesitation, but something deeper, a quiet war between uncertainty and conviction. Yet, it was that same doubt that seemed to amplify the glow of her fierce determination, as if her fears only highlighted the brilliance of her resolve.
Her gaze, dark and willful, resisted him, darting away like a bird wary of being caught.
But in those few moments when their eyes met… It was impossible to look away. There was a rhythm to her words, calculated and unhurried, as though each syllable carried a secret she was daring him to uncover. Her voice was a melody he couldn’t quite place—familiar enough to draw him in, yet distant enough to leave him looking for more.
Her lips parted and closed with the precision of a storyteller, shaping each word in a way that made even the most banal details sound extraordinary. There was a magnetism to her presence, an energy that turned a simple conversation into something unforgettable.
Not that he stared at her lips. He hadn't. If someone asked him about them, he wouldn't know what color they were. A shade somewhere between the warmth of a dusky rose and the faint blush of autumn’s last leaves.
In short, the conversation between them that early afternoon lingered—not as a memory, but as a sensation, persistent and impossible to ignore.
It felt foolish , truly. That was the best word to describe the whole situation.
He couldn’t decide what annoyed him more: the fact that his thoughts were so easily hijacked or that he had let them linger. There were always more pressing matters to deal with—scripts to finalize, segments to tighten, the never-ending negotiations with sponsors… Venturer wasn’t just a television station; it was a warfront, the last bastion of independent media in Rutshire.
And yet, here he was , caught up in the memory of a single conversation.
What made it worse was that it wasn’t even a conversation that should have stood out. He’d met people with stronger résumés, sharper tongues, and more experience in front of a microphone.
But Cassie... She wasn’t polished , and that was the very thing that stayed with him. Her honesty felt raw, untamed—a blade still learning the strength of its edge.
Foolish. The word echoed in his head.
He ran a hand through his hair, letting out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. What was it about her that unsettled him?
Was it her conviction? The quiet courage hidden beneath layers of uncertainty? Or perhaps it was the vulnerability she carried so openly? The kind that didn’t ask for pity but challenged you to see it and still believe in her strength.
And yet, her resistance baffled him. How could someone so driven, so clearly destined for something bigger, shy away from a platform?
His fingers tapped absently against the desk as he tried to reconcile her fear of the screen with what he had seen in her.
In his mind’s eye, he could picture her features perfectly—the elegant line of her jaw, the soft curve of her cheekbones, the intensity in her eyes when she spoke about what mattered. He could see how the camera would frame her, how the lights would catch the warm tones in her hair, and how her expressions, so honest and unguarded, would translate to the audience.
She didn’t see it, but he did .
Her face was made for the screen, not because of perfection, but because of its authenticity. It would draw people in, hold them captive. She didn’t need to be polished; she was already compelling in a way that made the camera irrelevant.
A knock at the door pulled him from his thoughts.
“Come in,” he called, his voice steady despite the jumble in his head.
The door creaked open, and Taggie stepped inside, her auburn hair catching the soft light from the lamp. She was dressed casually, her apron dusted with flour, a reminder of the event she was catering later.
“Still brooding?” she teased gently, holding a letter in one hand while absently smoothing her apron with the other.
A smile tugged at the corner of her lips, but her tone carried genuine concern.
“Brooding?” Declan repeated, his voice amused, “I prefer ‘preparing.’ ”
“For the show or something else?” she countered, stepping closer. Her gaze landed briefly on the untouched notes before flicking back to him, “You look... Distracted.”
Declan exhales, leaning back in his chair, “I visited Cassie Jones today.”
Taggie’s eyebrows shoot up.
“Cassie Jones? The Cassie Jones? You mean the one from the radio?”
She stepped closer, as though proximity would confirm his words. Her tone changed, and her thoughts flickered back to the previous morning.
Yesterday, the kitchen had been filled with the sound of Cassie’s fiery monologue, her unrelenting voice cutting through the room like a razor. Rupert had leaned in, more amused than anything else, but her father—she remembered her father: he’d been completely still , eyes fixed on the radio with an intensity she hadn’t seen in months.
That explains why he hadn’t had dinner last night , Taggie wondered.
Declan nodded, his expression contemplative.
“She has potential, Taggie,” he paused, searching for the right words, “Raw, unpolished, but it’s there. I want her on Venturer.”
“You’re recruiting her?” she asked, her voice with a hint of curiosity and excitement, “I didn’t think I’d ever see the day you’d bring someone like her in. Isn’t she— well , shy?”
“That’s putting it mildly,” he admitted, his voice taking on a thoughtful edge, “She’s terrified of being seen, but she’s brilliant. The way she speaks... It’s not just reporting. It’s storytelling. She makes people care.”
Taggie studied him for a moment, her head tilting as she considered his words. There was something about the way he spoke—quiet but charged with energy, a drive that hadn’t been there in a while…
Her father had always been passionate, but this was different. There was a spark, something that reminded her of the early days of Venturer, when everything was just a shot in the dark.
“You’re really invested in this,” Taggie lifted a brow, “Aren’t you?”
Declan didn’t answer immediately. Instead, his gaze dropped to the scattered notes on his desk, their edges curling slightly under the soft glow of the desk lamp. His fingers tapped idly against the wood as he tried to put his thoughts into words.
“Let’s just say,” he murmured, “It’s been a while since someone reminded me why we started Venturer in the first place.”
“It’s good to see you like this again,” Taggie’s smile widened, “You’ve never been so focused, so determined since we won the franchise approval—it’s like you’ve finally found something that excites you again.”
Declan chuckled, though the sound was tinged with self-awareness, “Don’t read too much into it, Taggie. I’m just doing my job.”
“Sure you are,” she said, a touch of mischief in her tone, “But I’m not complaining. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you looking this... Alive.”
She hesitated for a moment before adding, “Do you think she’ll accept?”
Declan’s expression grew thoughtful, his gaze distant.
“I don’t know,” he admitted, “Freddie’s been trying to bring her on board since we got the franchise approval. She’s always said no. But today…” He trailed off, his brow furrowing as he thought back to their conversation.
“But today?” Taggie prompted, stepping closer, her curiosity clearly piqued.
“She seemed... Torn ,” Declan replied, “Like part of her wanted to say yes, even if she couldn’t bring herself to do it. She’s hesitant, scared even, but she’s not someone who backs down easily. If she sees what we see in her... She’ll come around.”
Taggie studied her father again, a knowing expression in the way she furrowed her brows, “You’re really invested in this, aren’t you?”
Declan met her gaze, a flicker of something undefinable in his expression—determination, perhaps, or something even deeper.
“It’s not just about her, Taggie,” he said after a moment, “It’s about what she represents. Venturer was supposed to be about giving people like her a voice, wasn’t it? People who can make others listen, who can make them care.
“Well, I hope she sees that”, a soft smile tugged at the corners of Taggie’s lips, “And I hope she knows how lucky she’d be to work with someone like you.”
Declan chuckled again, though it was quieter this time, tinged with something almost self-deprecating.
“Don’t go turning me into a saint, Taggie. I’m just trying to do what’s right—for Venturer and for her.”
Taggie hesitated, watching him for a moment before stepping forward and placing the envelope on his desk.
“Just don’t let this drive of yours keep you from dealing with this,” she said softly, her fingers brushing the edge of the envelope.
Declan’s gaze followed her gesture, his brow furrowing as he took in the sight of the crumpled edges and the weight it seemed to carry. How it quickly changed his daughter’s humor.
“What is it?” he asked, though something in the pit of his stomach already knew the answer.
“It’s from Mum’s lawyer,” Taggie replied quietly, “The final papers.”
Declan’s breath caught, the words dripping between them like a heavy curtain. Slowly, almost reluctantly, he reached out to take the envelope. The paper felt heavier than it should, as though the culmination of everything—months of silence, arguments, the growing distance—was contained within it.
How could she not answer any of his letters and the first one she sent to them, her family, was the divorce papers?
“I see,” he said in the silence, almost whispering, his grip on the envelope tightened.
Taggie hesitated, her eyes scanning his face as though trying to gauge his reaction, “Are you okay?”
Declan chuckled, but it was devoid of humor.
“That’s a loaded question.”
The corner of her lips twitched, but her attempt at a smile faded just as quickly.
“I know it’s not what you wanted, Dad. I know how hard you tried to hold things together.”
“Did I?” Declan asked, almost to himself. He leaned back in his chair, his gaze falling to the envelope in his hands, “Or did I just try to hold on to the idea of us? To what I thought we were supposed to be, instead of what we actually were?”
Taggie bit her lip, unsure of how to respond. The silence that followed wasn’t tense, but it was loaded as the question of before. There was a shared grief for something that had been unraveling for longer than either of them cared to admit.
“She made her choice,” Declan continued, his tone low, “And maybe... Maybe it’s for the best. For her. For both of us.”
“Maybe,” Taggie said softly, though she didn’t sound convinced.
Declan glanced at her, his expression softening.
“What about you? How are you handling all this?”
Taggie bit her lip, clearly taken aback by her father’s question. She hesitated for a moment, her gaze flickering downward as though the answer might somehow be hidden in the floorboards.
“I’ve had time to process it, I guess,” she responded, her voice quieter than before. She shrugged, slipping her hands into the pockets of her apron, “It doesn’t make it hurt any less, but... I’m not angry anymore. Just… S-S—”
Her voice faltered, the word slipping from her grasp.
“Sad?” Declan offered gently, watching as her jaw tightened.
“Yes,” she said, nodding a bit too quickly, “ Sad. ”
Her struggle with the word wasn’t lost on him. It was a passing moment, brief but telling. Declan knew how Taggie’s dyslexia sometimes crept into her life in ways she didn’t expect—moments of hesitation or the occasional stumble over a word when emotions ran high.
It wasn’t something she let define her, but it was always there.
Over the past months, with Maud gone and Taggie stepping up beside him, Declan had seen more of it than he ever had before. At first, he had felt like the worst father in the world for not noticing sooner, for letting the chaos of his own life distract him from hers. It took him some time to understand—not just how it was for her, but the quiet strength with which she handled them.
It humbled him, this quiet resilience of hers.
You’ve handled it well, he wanted to say, but instead, he offered her a smile.
She looked at him, surprised by the sudden gesture. But the small, appreciative smile she gave in return told him he had done the right thing. He was still trying, and that was enough.
For a moment, the room was quiet, save for the soft hum of wind and the creak of the floorboards beneath their feet. Declan found himself studying her expression, the way her eyes mirrored his own weariness but had a resilience that was unmistakably hers.
“I suppose sadness is easier to live with than resentment,” he said, more to himself than to her.
Taggie nodded, offering a small smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.
“Well, I should get back to work. The buffet for Mrs. Spencer’s gala won’t prepare itself.”
Declan raised an eyebrow, “A gala? And they’ve roped you into catering for it?”
“Not roped,” she corrected, “I volunteered . Keeps me busy.”
He gave her a look, one that carried both fondness and a hint of fatherly skepticism.
“Just don’t let them take advantage of you.”
Taggie laughed softly, the sound warm but subdued.
“Don’t worry, Dad. I can handle Mrs. Spencer.”
She turned to leave but paused at the door, glancing back at him. Her expression softened, the hint of concern in her eyes mirroring the quiet care she always tried to mask with humor.
“And you? Will you be okay?”
Declan offered a faint smile, “I’ve got notes to review and a show to prepare for. I’ll manage.”
Taggie nodded, staying for a moment longer before slipping out of the room.
The silence that followed her departure wasn’t empty; it was filled with the echoes of their conversation, the unspoken words that always seemed to hover between them. Declan’s gaze fell to the envelope on his desk, its stark presence a reminder of what had already unraveled. He stared at it for a long moment, his fingers brushing the sharp edges, the sensation grounding him in the heaviness of the moment.
The ache in his chest deepened, not sharp but persistent, like a bruise that refused to fade. Maud’s absence wasn’t new; it had been a constant shadow for months, haunting him at the edges of every room, every thought. He could still hear her voice in the quiet moments, see her smile in the periphery of his mind.
They had tried, hadn’t they ? Yet, here it was—the finality of a marriage reduced to paper and ink.
Declan leaned back in his chair, his head tipping slightly as he closed his eyes. The memories pressed in, uninvited but relentless. The laughter they had shared, the fights that had grown sharper over time, the silences that had said more than words ever could. He wondered, not for the first time, if there had been a point where they could have turned it around—if he could have been someone different, better , for her.
The ache tightened, and he exhaled slowly, as if trying to release it. But as his thoughts circled Maud and the void her absence left, another voice crept into his mind.
Cassie .
Her words reverberated in his memory, not as a balm to the pain but something else. The raw honesty in her tone, the conviction laced with doubt, had a way of unsettling him, of pulling his focus from the ache of what was lost to the possibilities of what could be.
That's what she usually talked about in her past broadcasts, right? In the projects she had done in Chicago? How there was always a possibility, a light in the end of the tunnel, despite people locking all your windows and doors?
He sat up straighter, his gaze falling to the notes scattered before him again. The words blurred for a moment, stubbornly refusing to take shape. But as he thought of Cassie—her eyes, her words, her fear—it was as though something clicked into place.
It wasn’t just about giving people a platform , he remembered, it was about finding the voices that mattered, the ones that could cut through the noise and make people listen.
Declan’s lips quirked into a smile, the kind that came unbidden, as he turned his attention back to his notes. The spark of inspiration she had ignited within him was enough to push the rest aside, at least for now.
There was a show to prepare for, and tonight, he felt ready.
The bar was alive in its muted way—a quiet chatter and the occasional clink of glassware against polished wood. It wasn’t the raucous energy of a weekend crowd but the steady rhythm of regulars, the kind of people who found comfort in routine. Cassie sat at her usual corner, her drink untouched, save for the condensation slipping down its sides.
The golden light from the overhead fixtures cast a soft glow on the surface of the bar, making everything look warmer than it felt.
Bas moved with the practiced ease of someone who had owned this space for years. His motions were fluid, as though the rhythm of tending bar wasn’t a job but an extension of himself.
His dark hair, perpetually tousled in a way that suggested he didn’t care—or maybe cared too much—caught the light whenever he turned. His eyes scanned the room, but they kept returning to Cassie, watching the tension in her shoulders, the tight grip she had on her glass.
“Alright, Jones,” he said, leaning over the counter with a lopsided grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes, “You’re quieter than usual. Either someone’s died, or you’re brooding about something big… Again .”
Cassie shot him a look, one that was stabbing but softened by the weak tug at the corner of her lips.
“Always with the optimism, Bas.”
“It’s my charm,” he quipped. But the teasing in his tone didn’t mask the concern that was beneath it.
She sighed, her fingers drumming lightly against the bar’s surface, “Let’s just say it’s been a day.”
Bas’s eyebrow arched as he slid a pint across the bar to a waiting regular, his movements unhurried but precise. His attention, however, was fixed on Cassie, the practiced ease in his gaze giving way to a flicker of curiosity. The murmured conversations, the muted clatter of glasses—seemed distant, a backdrop to the conversation they were having.
“A day, huh?” Bas leaned a little closer, his lips drawing into an amused smile, “Sounds vague,” he added, lifting an eyebrow in mock challenge, “Care to elaborate, or should I start guessing?”
“You’d only guess wrong,” she replied almost immediately, a smirk curling at her lips before she took a long sip from her drink.
Bas didn’t miss a beat. Leaning forward, he rested his forearms on the counter, the polished wood cool beneath his hands. His teasing expression softened just a bit, the shift subtle but perceptible.
“Enlighten me, then,” he said, his voice dropping a notch.
Cassie hesitated, her gaze dropping to her glass. But her grip on the glass hardened, her thumb tracing absent patterns against the condensation. She inhaled quietly through her nose, her lips pressing into a thin line as if bracing herself.
“Declan O’Hara showed up at my door this morning.”
The words landed heavily, drawing Bas’s full attention. His playful demeanor faltered, his brow knitting together in thought.
Cassie could see the gears turning behind his eyes, his indissoluble wit piecing together implications faster than he let on. He blinked once, his lips parting as if to speak, but then he let out a low whistle, a sound of disbelief mingled with admiration.
“Well, that’s not nothing,” he said, straightening as his grin returned, this time full of intrigue, “What did the Irish Wolfhound want with you?”
Cassie’s lips twisted into a wry smile, though there was no humor in it. She shrugged, her voice tinged with weariness.
“He wants me on Venturer . Just like you and my uncle.”
Bas’s eyebrows shot up in surprise, his head tilting as he considered her words.
“Bloody hell,” he muttered, his voice almost reverent. He reached for a cloth, wiping down an already spotless section of the counter as though the action would help him process the news, “One thing’s for sure—it’s not every day Declan O’Hara comes knocking at your door, specifically your door . I mean, me and Freddie? Sure. But him ?” His dark eyes narrowed slightly, “That’s big.”
He set the cloth down, his gaze steady on her, “What did you say?”
Cassie shifted uncomfortably in her seat, her shoulders hunching slightly.
“That I’d think about it,” she admitted, the words clipped as though they’d been dragged out of her.
Bas studied her in silence, his expression unreadable, though his brow furrowed as he watched her fidget with her glass. After a long pause, he leaned back against the counter, crossing his arms.
“You never seem thrilled about this,” he remarked, his tone carefully neutral, “Most people would jump at the chance of joining Venturer—especially if it was me inviting them.” His lips drawn into a lopsided grin, a flash of his usual humor breaking through.
“Yeah, well, I’m not most people,” Cassie replied, her voice sharp, the words a defensive barb.
Bas’s grin softened, the teasing edge fading as he regarded her more closely. He reached for a glass of water, taking a slow sip before setting it down with deliberate calm.
“Alright,” he said, his tone quieter but no less insistent, “Let’s hear it. What’s holding you back?”
Cassie’s fingers stilled on the rim of her glass. For a moment, she seemed to shrink into herself, her expression tightening. Her eyes darted to the counter as she wrestled with words that didn’t want to come.
“It’s not that simple,” she muttered finally, her voice low, almost to herself.
“Nothing worth doing ever is,” Bas countered.
Cassie shifted in her seat, her fingers tracing the rim of her glass again.
“I just… I don’t think it’s for me.”
Bas’s laugh was short and dry, a single puff of air that carried no mirth.
“You don’t think it’s for you? Come on, Cass. That’s not an answer. You’ve got a voice people listen to—even when they don’t want to. Hell, you made headlines just by opening your mouth. And now you’re telling me you can’t see yourself in a chair next to Declan?”
Cassie clenched her jaw, the muscles tensing in her neck. The words were there, but they felt too heavy, too real to say out loud.
Her thoughts spiraled, never giving her a rest— Could I? Be in a chair next to him?
What if I say yes and ruin everything?
The offer, the screen, the lights… It was all too much.
What if they really do see something in me that I don’t see in myself?
But that wasn’t the real issue, was it?
“I can’t do it, Bas,” she whispered, as if saying the words could keep the fear at bay.
The issue was if they saw all the mistakes that she knew that was beneath her skin, her choices and her attempts.
She closed her eyes for a brief moment, leaning her elbows against the edge of the counter, her head hanging low.
It wasn’t the stage, or the lights. It wasn’t even the fear of failure.
Her mind raced with the images— the screen, the questions, the voices of people in her head, judging, scrutinizing, always waiting for her to slip.
“Why not?” he pressed, not giving up so soon over this subject.
Cassie’s breath caught, she had hoped that he would drop it , as he usually did.
Her pulse quickened, the discomfort twisting in her stomach like a knot pulling tighter with every passing second. She knew what was coming, and still, she couldn’t find the strength to articulate it.
To say the words that circled her thoughts.
Why not? Her mind repeated the question and, as if it was a broken record, it started to repeat again and again., why not? Why not?
What was holding her back?
“Cass—”
Why not?
“I can’t even look you in the eye while we’re talking, Bas,” she snapped, her voice trembling, “How the hell am I supposed to talk to a camera? To an audience?”
There it was—the rawness of the truth.
Her fear wasn’t just about the screen. It was about her inability to stand in front of anyone and not feel exposed, vulnerable. She wasn’t ready to show that side of herself, not to millions of strangers, not when she could barely face the people she cared about.
Bas’s reaction was immediate. The mischief that usually animated his features vanished and turned into something quieter, more serious. He straightened slightly, as though anchoring himself to the counter while Cassie’s turmoil unfolded in front of him.
The ambient noise of the bar—a murmur of laughter, the clinking of glasses—faded into a distant sound, no longer relevant in the charged space between them.
For a moment, Bas said nothing. His gaze held her frame—not in judgment, but in understanding. He wasn’t a man who filled silences lightly, and Cassie had come to appreciate that about him.
The absence of his voice gave hers the room to breathe, even as it quaked under the weight of her uncertainty.
“You’ve always been harder on yourself than anyone else,” he interrupted the silence once he noticed she was more at ease, “You don’t trust what people see in you, Cass, and maybe that’s part of the problem. You think you’ve got to hide everything, like people can’t handle the real you.”
She winced, her fingers hurting against the edges of her glass. Bas had an infuriating way of hitting nerves she hadn’t realized were exposed.
Her eyes flicked to the countertop, the wood grain blurring as a knot tightened in her chest.
“It’s not about hiding,” she muttered, “It’s about… Not giving them the ammunition. You don’t get it, people don’t just listen. They dissect. They pick you apart until there’s nothing left, I’ve seen it.”
“You’re right. I don’t get it—not in the way you do,” He let out a breath, rubbing a hand along his jaw, “But I’ve been in enough storms to know that people don’t waste their time picking apart someone who doesn’t matter. The fact that they’re looking at you? It means you’re already doing something worth their attention.”
Cassie shook her head, a bitter laugh escaping her lips, “That’s easy for you to say. You’re not the one they’re staring at right now.”
“No,” Bas agreed, his tone too calm, “But I’ve seen what happens when someone refuses to stand up because they’re scared of the fallout. It doesn’t stop the storm—it just leaves someone else to clean up the mess.”
Her eyes snapped up to meet his figure, a spark of indignation flaring in her chest.
“So what?” she wondered, “You think I owe it to the world to put myself out there? To be ripped apart just because I have something to say?”
Bas leaned closer, resting a hand on her shoulder—not heavy, but firm enough to anchor her. His dark eyes locked onto hers, steady as ever, but there was something deeper in his expression now. Not pity, not even frustration. Just belief.
This time, Cassie tried to force herself to stare at him back, to see what he was gonna say.
“No,” he said, “I think you owe it to yourself.”
Cassie froze, his words cutting through the haze of her spiraling thoughts. They weren’t flashy or grand, but they had a quiet truth that she couldn’t ignore. For a moment, the emotions that were pressing down on her chest lightened, replaced by something that felt disarmingly close to hope.
She couldn’t stop herself before a smile creeped out of her teeth.
Cassie wanted to believe in him, she truly wanted to. Perhaps, that time she would.
Bas’s hand lingered a moment longer before he stepped back, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips in response to hers.
“Now,” he said, his voice returning to its usual easy warmth, “don’t make me pull out a soapbox, Cass. We’ve got a show to watch.”
She managed a weak laugh, the tension in her shoulders easing slowly as he reached for the remote. The television flickered to life, casting a pale glow over the bar as the opening notes of Venturer’s broadcast filled the room.
Declan O’Hara’s face appeared on the screen, his sharp, commanding presence filling the bar as the opening notes of Venturer’s broadcast faded. The backdrop was strikingly simple—sleek, modern lines contrasting with a warm palette that suggested approachability. The kind of visual balance that made the show feel personal without losing its gravitas.
Cassie leaned back in her chair, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. She didn’t say a word, but Bas caught the way her fingers tapped lightly against her arm in a rhythm too calculated to be unconscious.
“You good?” he asked, keeping his tone light, though his eyes didn’t leave her face.
“Yeah,” she muttered, her gaze fixed on the screen, “Just... Curious to see how he spins it.”
Declan’s voice came into the segment seamlessly—a live interview with a city council member who had been at the center of recent housing debates. The guest looked composed, but there was a tension in his smile, the kind that came from knowing you were about to face someone who wouldn’t let a single inconsistency slide.
He was the Irish Wolfhound , after all.
“Here we go,” Bas muttered, leaning in his seat, clearly expecting fireworks.
Cassie didn’t respond, her focus on the screen unbroken. Declan’s approach was surgical, every question calibrated to draw out information without tipping into outright confrontation. His tone remained calm, professional, but there was no mistaking the intent behind his words.
He was peeling back the layers of the council member’s carefully rehearsed answers, pushing him to explain vague statements and sidestep slippery rhetoric.
“Man’s a scalpel,” Bas said under his breath, shaking his head, “Doesn’t let up, does he?”
“It’s effective,” Cassie admitted, her tone grudging. There was something fascinating about watching Declan work—how he managed to command the room without ever raising his voice, how he drew the audience into the conversation without alienating his guest.
It was a skill she recognized, even admired, though she’d never admit it aloud.
Her attention was drawn even further as Declan leaned forward, his next question landing with deliberate weight.
“As Cassie Jones accused in Dan Murphy’s broadcast at Crawford’s FM yesterday,” Declan glanced down at a note in his hand, the movement unhurried, “there are claims that the council’s housing allocations lack transparency. Specifically, that contracts were awarded to developers with personal ties to sitting council members. What’s your response?”
Cassie blinked, her body instinctively leaning a fraction closer to the screen, as though the words might hit differently if she were nearer. Hearing her name roll off his tongue in that voice—the cadence carefully deliberate, each word with the precision of a blade—was something she hadn’t prepared for.
It wasn’t just that he repeated her accusations; it was the way he positioned them as essential to the conversation, stripping away any lingering doubts about their importance.
But then there was the other thing— the truth of it all . What truly shook her in her seat.
She hadn’t been the one to say those words during Dan’s broadcast.
The story, the study, the facts—they were hers, yes . Yet Dan had been the one to voice them, stealing her moment before she arrived at the station to reclaim it. By the time she had taken control of the broadcast, the opportunity to lay out her findings in full had slipped through her fingers. All she could do then was pivot, focus on the other truth she’d uncovered.
And now? Declan O’Hara, of all people, was giving her story back to her.
Bas’s head whipped toward her, his expression part shock, part amusement.
“He’s quoting you ?”
“Looks like it,” Cassie muttered, her voice faint as her gaze remained fixed on the screen. Her chest felt a lot heavier, a strange warmth stirring in the pit of her stomach, though she tried to brush it off.
On screen, the council member’s practiced composure faltered before he recovered.
“I’m not aware of any evidence to support those claims,” he said, his tone clipped, “And I think it’s reckless to give air to accusations of a—”
“It’s not about recklessness,” Declan interrupted him, as calm as he was since the beginning of the show, “It’s about accountability. Jones provided specifics—figures, dates, patterns. If they’re inaccurate, wouldn’t it benefit the council to set the record straight?”
Cassie bit her lip, fighting back the urge to grin. For the first time in weeks, it felt like her work wasn’t just hers—just something she could keep on her shelf. No, it was out there , undeniable .
Different from Dan and Crawford, Declan O’Hara wasn’t stealing it. He was amplifying it.
Declan gave my story back to me , Cassie repeated again, as to remind herself that this day wasn’t a dream.
Bas snorted, “Looks like someone’s got a fan.”
“Shut up, Bas,” Cassie muttered, her voice threatening but there was no bite. Still, she could feel the heat creeping up her neck and onto her cheeks, a flush she didn’t dare acknowledge.
Did Bas mean that she was Declan’s fan or Declan who was her fan. Either way, both made her blush even more.
She folded her arms tighter across her chest, hoping he wouldn’t notice.
The council member stumbled over his response, scrambling to reframe the narrative, but Declan was relentless, pressing for specifics with a calm determination that left no room for evasion. When the segment ended, Declan delivered a closing remark that felt both pointed and perfectly impartial, a masterful capstone to the exchange.
The screen transitioned to a softer feature—a local artist creating murals across the city. The shift in tone was smooth, offering viewers a reprieve from the tension.
Cassie exhaled, her eyes fixed on the screen after a beat.
“He’s good,” she said quietly, almost to herself.
Good as a presenter or a good person? Her mind asked her and, well , Cassie didn’t have an answer for that.
Bas chuckled, “That sounded dangerously close to actual praise.”
“Don’t push it,” Cassie warned, though the curve of her lips betrayed her amusement.
The bar’s energy had shifted as the night deepened.
Voices softened into murmurs, glasses clinked with lazy rhythm, and the warm glow of the overhead fixtures seemed to dim ever so vaguely, making the room feel closer, cozier. Cassie and Bas were still at their corner, both a little slouched, their earlier sharpness dulled by the hour and the lingering warmth of their drinks.
From an outsider's perspective, they might have appeared as companions deep into their cups, the way Bas’s posture had relaxed, one arm draped lazily over the back of his chair, his grin loose and easy. Cassie, by contrast, seemed more guarded, though the light flush across her cheeks and the way she covered her mouth mid-laugh betrayed a rare moment of vulnerability.
A laughing fit took over Cassie as Bas told her a story about a patron mistaking a bottle of soy sauce for whiskey last week. She was shaking her head, trying to compose herself, her cheeks flushed from laughter and the residual embarrassment of the earlier show.
Bas placed a hand dramatically on his chest, “I swear on King’s Ransom,” his grin wide and unapologetic.
Cassie shook her head, rolling her eyes but unable to suppress the tug of a smile.
“Right, because your horse makes you credible.”
“Don’t disrespect King’s Ransom,” Bas shot back with mock indignation, “He’s got more class than you’ll ever have.”
Cassie leaned forward, her elbow propped on the table as she took a sip of her drink. The ice clinked softly against the glass, and she watched Bas with a bemused expression, her free hand lightly tracing a circle on the tabletop.
“You know,” she said, setting the glass down, “you’d make a terrible lawyer. Your evidence is a horse , and your defense strategy is sarcasm .”
Bas grinned, leaning back in his chair as though settling into the role of a court jester.
“A lawyer? Please . Too much paperwork. I’d rather keep slinging drinks, making people laugh and playing polo.”
“Ah, here we go to the noble profession of bartending again ,” Cassie teased, raising her glass slightly in a mock toast, “Defender of soy sauce incidents and peddler of questionable anecdotes.”
“Questionable?” Bas raised an eyebrow, his hand dramatically clutching his chest again, “That story was the highlight of my week.”
“Well,” Cassie replied, her lips twitching as though fighting a laugh, “your weeks must be very uneventful .”
Bas opened his mouth to retort, but his attention shifted mid-thought. His expression stilled for a moment, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his face before his grin returned—sharper now, edged with mischief. He sat up a little straighter, his eyes drifting past her shoulder.
“Uh-oh,” he murmured, amused.
Cassie frowned, following his gaze halfway before stopping herself. The bar was quieter now, the conversation muted, the warm light softening the lines of every figure in the room.
She turned back to Bas, raising an eyebrow in question.
“What?” she asked, her tone half-curious, half- suspicious .
Because everything that made Bas grin was suspicious.
Yet, he didn’t answer immediately, his smirk widening as though he were savoring the moment before delivering a punchline.
“Oh,” a voice behind her said, smooth and far too familiar, “I thought Rupert would be here already.”
Cassie froze, every thought in her head stalling at once. Her fingers tightened around the stem of her glass, the earlier warmth of laughter fleeing in the face of a sudden, overpowering heat that had nothing to do with the bar’s cozy atmosphere.
Her pulse kicked up, erratic and insistent. She didn’t need to turn to recognize the voice. That deliberate cadence, the trace of an accent—it was as unmistakable as it was infuriating.
Declan O’Hara.
Bas, unbothered and clearly enjoying himself, leaned back further in his chair.
“Rupert’s at Mrs. Spencer’s gala,” Bas replied easily, his tone almost conversational, “Something about giving someone a ride.”
“Hm,” Declan mused, the sound more thoughtful than dismissive, “Taggie’s doing their buffet, isn’t she?”
Bas hummed in confirmation, the sound low and knowing. His smirk teetered on the edge of outright glee, and Cassie could feel it radiating off him like heat.
Cassie still couldn’t bring herself to turn around. Her earlier humor had vanished, replaced by an overwhelming awareness of Declan’s proximity. She could almost feel his breath against her neck, irrational as it was—however, she was sitting and he was standing .
Images flashed in her mind—his piercing gaze earlier that day, his voice echoing through her living room as he made a case for Venturer, and the way her name had rolled off his tongue during his broadcast.
In the end, what did he want with her? Truly? He had already done so much tonight—repeating her accusations, giving her the credit Dan Murphy had stolen, framing her work in a way that no one could ignore. And now, here he was, unbidden and unexpected.
A sharp thought pierced through her tangled emotions: All of this... Was it just to get her attention? For her to finally accept his offer?
If yes, then...
She swallowed hard, trying to force the thought away, but it was already there, fully formed and impossible to ignore:
Bloody hell, he was good.
Her thoughts spiraled, and though she wanted to blame it on the warmth of the room or the residual adrenaline from the broadcast, she knew better. Declan O’Hara didn’t just walk into places—he arrived , every movement perfectly calculated, every word perfectly placed.
And then, the moment she’d dreaded :
“Hi, Cassie,” Declan said, his voice taking on a lighter tone, “I imagine you saw my show tonight?”
The words were delivered almost as a challenge. And, unfortunately , for some reason, her brain was built to never ignore a challenge—so, Cassie, despite every instinct screaming at her to remain frozen, finally turned.
Her movement was hesitant, as if her body was testing each muscle before committing fully to the action. She didn’t know what she expected to see—something intimidating, perhaps, or something too familiar to handle—but the reality was worse.
Declan stood there, relaxed in a way that was almost infuriating, his suit still immaculate from the broadcast, the crisp white shirt open just enough at the collar to suggest he’d taken the edge off a long day but hadn’t fully unwound. The muted lighting of the bar softened the sharpness of his features, but his presence remained undiminished.
His dark eyes found hers immediately, the corner of his mouth lifting in a wide smile. It wasn’t a smirk, not exactly—it lacked the arrogance she might have expected—but there was something inherently self-assured about it. Like he knew exactly what effect he had on her.
The kind of effect that made her unable to look away when he looked at her.
Her lungs burned from the effort of keeping her composure, but Declan didn’t press. He simply smiled, the gesture disarming in its simplicity, and waited .

Coloring tutorial I guess
Tumblr media
That's my most default shading style, a hybrid of line drawing and painted shadows, and I'll tell you exactly how to get this look. But before we start, you need a weapon This is my main brush for basically anything, including line art on days when I don't feel like switching to something actually intended for inking. It's a lightly textured square brush with color variation on every stamp. Intended for Procreate but you can always just rip the alpha texture out of the file and use it for a brush in any drawing program. That out of the way, let's go. I'll use the same line art as the one in fluff tutorial. Set the line layer to ~60 or so opacity and get to blocking in the base colors of your character. The jitter brush will introduce some color variation on it's own, but changing the color occasionally will add more visual interest.
Tumblr media
After this I add a multiply layer on top and dab orange or red in places where we might be able to see the base of the hairs or peek at the carapace underneath.
Tumblr media
It's places where hair parts and where it's shorter. This accent color works great on joints as well. Example of the thing I'm going for in real life:
Tumblr media
Especially visible behind the head. It's not present on every moth to be fair, but I like to add these accents even where it wouldn't make sense, just because it looks nice. Even on insects without hair. Block in the eyes and mandibles now, best if it's on separate layer.
Tumblr media
Now, the actual funny tricks begin. If you're one of the people who only use multiply or add blend modes, stop it, get some help Understanding the math behind blend modes is gonna get you a long way. My lineart is set to subtract more often than not. I find it produces juicier and more colorful results than multiply. I want to give this picture a warm orange feeling, so the color of my lines should be the opposite - blue.
Tumblr media
And, subtract.
Tumblr media
Perfect, but not quite. We can push the lines to an even softer feeling. Take the line layer, copy it, invert the color and set to multiply. I then throw gaussian blur on the resulting copy and reduce opacity until the lines bleed into the surroundings just a little bit.
Tumblr media
On to actual shading. People who shade without getting in some background first scare me, so let me throw something together real quick.
Tumblr media
A simple gradient will also suffice for this use. We just need some information on which colors are present in the surroundings. Copy your background, bring it on top of your character layers and gaussian blur it real hard. Set it to multiply, remove all parts of the layer that go beyond the pixels of the base color layer. Adjust opacity until the character fits in the background.
Tumblr media
Let's identify the light sources. In this case it's only the sky, but it produces two distinct colors - soft blue lighting comes from the top, slightly stronger red comes from behind. The blue light I set to exclusion blend mode because it felt most appropriate in this case. Both add and screen looked too strong to be the light coming from such dark sky.
Tumblr media
In this lighting context the lower part of the body will receive less light that the upper part. I use the green of the bushes set to multiply to darken the bottom.
Tumblr media
The character is surrounded by all kinds of soft light, but it can't get everywhere. It's time to add ambient occlusion, or contact shadows, for those without a 3d background. Anywhere where there is a crevice or surfaces almost touch, a soft shadow will form.
I do it on a multiply layer with a neutral gray-green color. Gray because any color light isn't really getting in there and green because the fluff is somewhat transparent and whatever light does pass through it gains a greenish hue.
Tumblr media
Last step, red rim light from the fading sunset behind the character.
Tumblr media
Since it's rim light I just work with normal blending mode. Setting it to add or something of the sort would make the rim light brighter than the source of the light. And it'd be odd.
And that's it. I usually throw on some post processing in Snapseed. Pull some curves, throw on a bit of grain, etc. But it's a topic for another time.
In conclusion, try to think about the environment more when shading. What route does light go through to reach where you're coloring? Did it reflect off of any colored surface? Did it pass through something transparent to gain a different hue? What color shadow would this ambient lighting produce? Go have fun with your colors now.

Note
Well I really love your art, may I ask how do u color? I struggle with coloring turtles and I wasn't to know how do u do that?
Hi anon! That's a very broad question, so you've given me a great excuse to ramble anything I want about my coloring, eehehehee~! This will be in two parts and I'll start with talking about my simpler coloring style.
As in, when I color characters on a white background, with a limited or light palette.
Tumblr media
The driving force behind this style is me being lazy. My time, energy, and attention span are pretty limited, so if I want to finish anything, I gotta do it fast. And with fanart, I'm usually just doing it for fun and relaxation, so there's no need to push myself to polish it too much.
Despite that, I rarely post just black and white sketches or line arts. I always try to add at least a little bit of toning or shading, because that makes the image easier to read. The characters and their shapes pop out and catch the eye of the viewer better.
Tumblr media
However, in this particular example, just the couple toning colors don't quite do the job. The way Don and Leo are entangled makes the center area of this illustration very busy and hard to read.
As a comparison; this pic has only one tone + mask colors, and it works. This is because all the characters are standing separately and their poses are very stationary and simple.
Tumblr media
So for the Don + Leo pic, adding some shadows helps in bringing out shapes and depths. Also in general, if you don't feel like drawing BGs, it's good to at least add a shadow below the characters. It grounds them and makes them feel like they exist within a space.
Tumblr media
Sometimes if the posing looks too complex and busy, it might just be best to color in the characters fully.
However, even if I do full flat colors, I tend to use a lighter palette. Putting characters in their neutral/default color on a white BG can look a bit jarring as if they're floating in a void. It feels less immersive and like the picture is unfinished.
Tumblr media
Using lighter colors makes the image more cohesive, and fits the characters into the white environment a bit more naturally.
If I'm too lazy to draw a BG, I prefer using stylized and limited colors. It feels deliberate and that the whiteness is just part of the palette, whereas the character-accurate colors on white don't match as well, even if they're more pastel.
Tumblr media
That being said, there's nothing wrong with just slapping the flat-colored characters on a white background. As you know, I do it too. I'm just exposing my 'fancy coloring style' for what it is; me being lazy, hah!
Limited and monochromatic palettes are a nice shortcut even when you do actual backgrounds. It's faster and you don't have to worry about clashing colors. And you can still convey atmosphere and mood.
Tumblr media
Also, on the topic of conserving your time and efforts; I think it's very common among younger/less experienced artists to think that the amount of time you spend on your art piece = how good and well received that piece will be.
Which has some merit to it of course, but it can lead to putting too much effort into areas where it's not necessary. E.g. filling the piece with tons of details and clutter that don't serve an actual purpose, but rather make the image hard to read. Or doing really complicated shading for a meme/comic, where simplicity would deliver the joke better.
So whenever I'm drawing something I intend to publish, whether it's a quick doodle or a more polished piece, I try to follow these two principles: Make it easily readable and do the bare minimum that needs to be done to convey what I want to convey.
Putting time into practice is important, but if you draw for work, it's also crucial that you know how to prioritize and use your time efficiently!
Anyway, thanks for reading! In the next part I'll go into how I do my fully colored pieces, so stay tuned for that!

FNF CONNECTED UNIVERSE LINE UP Part 2: The Girlfriends
Tumblr media
Yippee, new line up. Didn't have as much trouble on this one either.
Idk how much yapping I'll be doing, since I don't really know how much I have to talk about.
But still
Close ups and yapping under the cut
Alternate Universe Girlfriends
Tumblr media
So just like with the Boyfriends, all these Girlfriends are technically all the same person, just from different universes. So I tried some elements of their designs consistent between them all, which stem from my base game Girlfriend design.
Unlike BF, there's a good bit more to talk about with GF since I draw her pretty different compared to her in-game design. The main thing is her more apparent demonic traits, like her horns, tail, and purple splotches. The explanation for this, in universe, is that she doesn't have the full power to cloak herself yet. See, her and her family are "music demons", which gain their power by leeching from music, usually a particular genre. GF hasn't really decided what genre to leech from yet, so she isn't as powerful as she could be. She also has a coat cuz uhhh. Silly. Things like her demonic traits and her coat (Or something of similar shape like a feather boa) would be the things to connect all the AU GFs.
Moving on, we have Herself, who I was looking forward to drawing the moment I started this line up cuz I had just. Such a clear vision of her in my head. Although it was a struggle to put that vision on paper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's hard to put the exact vision into words, but it's like having her form become less defined as it goes downwards, until it's just the wispy silhouette of her hair. There's a certain balance you have to strike with the wispy nature of her form and the trademark Girlfriend hair shapes, and that's what ended up being the biggest struggle. Once I figured that out though, it was pretty simple. Shapes were the most important thing since her coloring is pretty monochromatic. Not counting the black, this design only utilizes two different colors, both being shades of red. Her design includes a feather boa instead of a jacket, mainly cuz I completely forgot about that rule when I got to her and the boa was a lot easier to add than a jacket. It also makes an interesting shape I think.
Next is Funkadelix, and she really wasn't too hard. The main thing was giving her traits from my main GF design, which wasn't hard at all. For her horns I referenced her Halloween attire. Her tail too, sorta, but I mainly just referenced the thinness of it.
Tumblr media
There isn't all too much to say about MDM. There wasn't a lot to change or add. Main addition was the boa, which was admittedly kinda fun to draw in my style for that AU.
Now onto Mix. If you saw my post yesterday about the doodle/sketch pile for this line up, you might've seen a design concept I did for Mommy Mearest, and that was literally just for Mix's design. Except it was virtually pointless cuz I didn't really include any aspects of my MMM into my Mix design. It's fine though, I think she turned out fine. Might take another pass at her in the future when I ACTUALLY have my MMM design figured out.
Tumblr media
Lastly for this section, HD. I actually had quite a bit of fun drawing her. Don't really got much to say about her though. I'm pretty sure she was the first AU GF I gave a boa, so she's the one that started that. It was originally going to be all white, but my good good friend @minxtheeenby suggested it fading into black, and I really like how it turned out.
"Side" GFs
Tumblr media
So first is Belladonn (B-Side). I know I wanted her to appear more sophisticated. That's just always how I imagined her, even back well the mod was still a simple recolor remix mod. There's also something so fun about classy characters that are also dangerous. We need more regal women that carry around bats full of nails. I had a lot of trouble nailing (pun not intended) her hair. The main thing that sets it apart from the traditional GF cut is her side bang (idk hair terms, I think that's what it is), but besides that, not much else. So I had to mess with it a bunch to get something I liked.
Amelia's (D-Side) design was pretty straight forward. The main thing was just adding a few more details to spice it up a bit. Which just happened to be buttons on her jacket and lil heart patterns on her knees. I also wanted her to be short. Cuz idk, she gives short vibes. A lil idea for her that isn't showcased here is that I imagine her pigtail buns actually turn into her horns when she is in her demon form. (Bad doodle, but just to show the concept:)
Tumblr media
Lizzy (G-Side) was kinda fun to come up with ideas for. Most of her design is taken from the fake teasers for the mod, cuz silly. But because her mom is some sort of light spirit.. thing, I wanted to mix that in somehow too. So that's where the white highlights on her horns, hair, and tail come from, but that's not all it added.
Tumblr media
She also has pretty funky eyes, that are somewhat inspired by Shara Ishvalda's eyes
Tumblr media
Also, in that doodle, I imagine all of her hair is floating, I just. Didn't feel like drawing her pigtails cuz I mainly wanted to highlight the eye thing.
The New Yorkers
Tumblr media
With Shaya, I mainly added a bit of stuff to her outfit, since the original is too simple with my design style. I basically just added a bat wing shape motif to her design. Cuz. Cuz vampire. This is also present in her ear shape cuz I didn't want them to JUST be pointed, cuz I wanted her to stand out a bit more from the demon girls. So different ear shape.
I don't really know how much Azalea (Neo) changed. I know I changed her hair a bit (to further differentiate her from GF) and I altered her top a bit but I THINK that's it. I did change her and her family's lore a bit though. Cuz I made them robots. THATS RIGHT, THIS IS WHO I WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN I WAS TALKING ABOUT MAKING ONE OF THE GIRLFRIENDS A ROBOT. Azalea's pretty android-esc, but I imagine her parents are just full on robots. I can't wait to design them. But yeah, I imagine Azalea is much more human looking because she just wants to be part of human society and her parents love her so they got her the more human looking body so she could live out her dream. We love supportive parents *explosion emoji* *explosion emoji* *explosion emoji*
Not much to say about Grace. I just gave her a bit of melanin cuz apparently she's mixed. That's all I really changed tho.
I don't think I changed Judith MUCH. Her face is a bit more. Wolf-like? Idk. I also TOTALLY didn't reference Clawdeen Wolf's hair when designing her. Totally not.
Vikki (Minus) is grouped with the New Yorkers cuz. There's only one of her. Unlike the Minus BFs. I just made her a lil more goth, since people literally call her "Goth GF". Also made her hair a bit more blocky. cuz. cuz the minus symbol. Shape *sparkle emoji*
Who the Fuck Knows (Miscellaneous)
Tumblr media
So starting with Cherry (Swappin'), in this AU she's actually GF's younger sister. She also already has a music genre to leech from (rap), so she's better at concealing herself. Not much else to say, I did not change her design much.
Nothing much to say about Barbara either, I barely changed her.
Now Astra (Starcatcher) was fun. While I was initially sketching her, I realized that both her alien species and the Alien Hominids have the same style of classic antennae. So I decided "Huh, what if their species are related." So I did that. Not much else to touch on besides that.
Tootsie belongs to @minxtheeenby and is part of their Sunday Night Snackin' AU. I drew her with her wings and tail out, which aren't usually out, but uh. Silly.
Belletrix didn't really change as much as I was expecting her too. The main thing was just. Making her an imp that could exist in the Hellaverse. Which was pretty easy. And then I just made shit up when it came to her outfit cuz it was kinda hard what was going on with that in the first place.
Next is Gabriella, YIPPEE. So she's the GF from Plants vs. Rappers. Vastly different appearance wise though, cuz, yknow. Can't have her look too similar to GF. And just like I did with Dennis, I decided to base her on another zombie from Neon Mixtape Tour: The Glitter Zombie
Tumblr media
Idk, I thought it'd be cutie patootie. And it was. I really like how she turned out. I got lazy when it came to her flag, I did not feel like drawing that shit.
Last but not least is Ashley, the GF from my own AU. Which does not have a name. Idk, it's mainly just an excuse for me to draw anthro Monster Hunter monsters. But yeah, she's an intersex Leostra (Gender neutral term for the Teostra/Lunastra species that @sleepymushrxxm came up with) and I love her.
That's all I got. Gonna hopefully start working on the Pico's here soon.

I do commissions!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s been a busy few months for me, but I’m finally feeling in a good place to start doing these again! Note that I only accept payment through PayPal at the moment, and my prices are in USD.
Full information below ⬇️
I offer characters illustrations in four styles and three sizes. The images above are not the only possibilities of how a commission could be inked or rendered, as I’m open to using different brushes or techniques on request. If there’s a particular piece of mine you like the style of, let me know and I can refer you to the pricing that applies.
OPTIONS AND RATES
Sketch: a rough sketch with a textured or untextured brush. Sketch commissions will include an under-sketch to determine pose and composition. Some of these prices are intended mostly for inclusion as part of a character sheet. I will add base colors to a sketch for double the original price.
Head/Bust: $5 ($10 with color)
Half Body: $10 ($20 with color)
Full Body: $15 ($30 with color)
Style A: Thick or medium lines with basic colors underneath. Includes simple details and gradients, but not full shading.
Head/Bust: $15
Half Body: $30
Full Body: $40
Style B: Thick or medium lines with soft shading or cell shading.
Head/Bust: $20
Half Body: $40
Full Body: $60
Style C: Medium or thin lines with full shading/render. +$10 for colored line art.
Head/Bust: $30
Half Body: $60
Full Body: $90
Chibis: I've finally found a style I like for drawing chibi characters, so I'll be including this as a new commission option! Chibis will all be done in the same style, with thick lines and basic coloring.
Head: $10
Full Body: $30
Character Sheet: A series of drawings of a single character, provided they are commissioned at the same time, will cost 10% less than the sum of all components. This includes characters dressed in different outfits, but normal rates apply to a commission of multiple distinct characters.
Complex Design: Since the level of the detail of a design will impact the time it takes me to draw, I am now including an additional charge of 5-10% of the original cost for especially complex designs (very detailed clothing, elaborate anatomy, complicated color/shading situations). As complexity may vary, the additional cost will vary as well (although it literally can't exceed $10 for a single drawing based on my current prices). I appreciate it if clients are understanding when I decide a drawing will cost extra, because this charge helps ensure I am earning a decent rate for my time.
PAYMENT PROCESS
As I mentioned above, I accept payment through PayPal in USD. You can send money directly to my account, @VRWintner, or if it’s more convenient for you/you would like a more specific record of the transaction, I can also send an invoice directly to your PayPal account.
For commissions of $30 or more, I require at least 50% of the cost to be paid upfront (although clients are welcome to pay more than that, or pay in full upfront). The remaining cost can be paid upon completion, and may be paid in installments if necessary. Bear in mind that if you fail to fully pay for a commission, you cannot purchase another until you have done so, and I may be hesitant to accept a commission if you are unreliable with payment.
I always welcome tips! If you're able and willing to toss me a little extra on a comm, I greatly appreciate it (but no stress if you can't--I don't expect to be paid any more than the agreed upon price, anything extra is up to you).

hello! i'm not sure if you remember me, a while ago i asked about digital art and if it's possible to do on an ipad or something similar. i was really grateful for your response and i got an ipad over christmas! i didn't realize how expensive the pencils were though and was only able to get one recently. now that i have all of that, i download the first art program i saw (ibispaint x, i don't know how good that is) and feel super overwhelmed by everything, all the tools and brushes and i have no idea where to begin. i know this is a super broad topic, but i don't know if you have any advice for a beginner hoping to become a digital artist? or know of any resources? thank you so much in advance and no worries if this topic is too broad to really get into properly!
Oh hey!! Congrats on getting an iPad! And yeah, shopping for the pens is a big pain in the butt, but I'm glad you finally got it all setup!
So most of the advice I'm gonna give you is very basic, starter advice that can apply to virtually any digital art software, as the vast majority of them are built with the exact same base tools, they just vary in their intended purposes which means they may differ in more advanced settings and what they offer beyond the basics (ex. Photoshop has more colors than Clip Studio because it's built for editing high quality photos whereas Clip Studio is meant to emulate comic art, but Clip Studio offers more in the way of comic-creating tools such as specialized rulers, 3D material support, built-in screentoning, etc. and all of the software available will tend to have different brush engines, meaning it doesn't always 'feel' the same to draw in one software as it does in another).
Your bestest friends:
Layers! This is the biggest pro to going digital, because now you can work with layers! So anything you draw on each layer is preserved and can't touch or affect whatever's on the other ones :3 You can find the layers tab in Ibis Paint X in the bottom right, don't be afraid to make a bunch of them and mess around with what you can do. Play around with the different blending mode settings (in Ibis Paint it's the menu that's labelled 'Normal' in the layers popup) especially Multiply, Color Dodge, and Overlay, as those three are the most commonly used to make coloring more efficient and give your art some extra pop.
Lasso/marquee/magic wand tools! These are basic selection tools that allow you to select an area within the layer you're working on, so that whatever you paint won't travel outside of that area. The Lasso is a free draw tool, the marquee tool is typically 4 sides by default (so squares/rectangles) and the magic wand detects and selects a closed area with one click! (just note that by default it's only on the layer you're on, so if you use it on a layer that has nothing, it will typically select the entire canvas).
Alpha locking! This is a simple button setting you can click to 'lock' the layer you're working on, which basically means that whatever you've drawn on that layer, anything you add can't travel outside of that drawing. So if you want to quickly shade something without going outside the lines, alpha locking is your solution!
Clipping groups/layers! This is a bit more advanced but is basically an even better version of alpha locking that you can use in conjunction with it. Clipping layers are basically additional layers that , when you click the 'clipping group' button, 'attaches' that new layer to the layer that's below it. It performs the same function as the alpha lock by preventing whatever you draw on that layer from travelling outside of it, HOWEVER it comes with the added benefit that it's on an entirely different layer, meaning you can erase and mess with whatever's on that new layer as much as you like and it won't hurt the base layer. It kinda follows the same logic as animation cels !
Masking! Y'know when you're doing a traditional painting, and you put down tape to cover the area so you can paint over it and later remove the tape and everything underneath is untouched? That's basically what masking is! Once you put down a layer mask, using the erase tool on it will 'erase' whatever the mask is applied to, and using the brush will make it magically return! This may sound silly at first, but I find masking is especially helpful if you want to erase something on the layer you're working on without it disappearing forever! It's also really helpful for comic work because you can mask whatever's outside of the panels and voila, nothing you draw will travel outside of those panels!
Stabilization! I don't know how extensive Ibis Paint X is with offering stabilization tools, but many digital art software comes with it and it's a LIFE SAVER for new digital artists adjusting to the feel of digital art. It essentially 'slows down' the output of the ink on the canvas which helps a lot with getting cleaner lines in fewer tries. It's not quite as big of a deal when drawing on iPads because obviously you have more control by default by drawing directly on the screen, but it can still be really helpful when you need to pace your hand ahead of the actual drawing tool to pull cleaner lines!
That's pretty much all I can think of for now! But here are some other commonly asked questions:
1.) There are so many brushes to choose from, which one do I use?
The round brush is small but mighty. Virtually anything can be painted with it, it's simple, but malleable, especially when you start messing around with the hardness and opacity settings. Don't get too lost in the sauce with the brushes that are available to you, it can be very easy to get overwhelmed by all the options and variety. Some artists still work purely with just round brushes, some artists have custom brushes they like to use to speed up their drawing process or achieve certain textures. Play around with them, but don't get too stressed about which one you use because there's no wrong answer, the right brush to use is the one that gets the job done ! <3
2.) What canvas size should I use?
It depends on a variety of factors such as whether or not you're planning to print, where you're going to be posting it, etc. By default I like to work on 8.5 x 11 inch canvases (standard printer paper size) at 350 dpi, which if you want to make that canvas in Ibis Paint X, means you just have to make a canvas with a pixel ratio of 2975 x 3850 pixels! Just note that the lower you go in either pixel count or dpi, the lower the resolution, so it's typically encouraged you work at a minimum of 300 dpi (but you usually don't have to go any higher than 600) to ensure you don't wind up with any blurry low res JPG's/PNG's.
3.) Should I export my final drawing as JPG or PNG?
This is usually just up to personal preference, but like the canvas size, it depends on what you're using the image for. You can always export as both, the biggest difference between them is that PNG is lossless meaning you won't experience image compression like you will with JPG, BUT you're also going to have much larger image sizes. JPG is often fine for any standard posting, PNG is typically recommended if you want to have a drawing with a transparent background for printing (as JPG can't do transparent backgrounds) or if you just want to have a really high res image file for sharing outside of social media sites (as social media sites like FB/IG/etc. will typically compress the hell out of your images anyways)
Here are some other super helpful resources as well if you need some visual and/or audio guides:
Sinix Design - How to Learn Digital Painting (Beginners)
Marc Brunet - The Beginner's Guide to Digital Art
Skynix Art - 50 Digital Art Tips in 5 Minutes
One thing I also like to do is watch speedpaints of digital artists as it can really help pull back the curtain on what they're doing (or at least, it can help you see what they start with which can help you better picture the process of turning a blank canvas into a finished work of art!) And though I don't do it as often, if there's an artist whose work I REALLY like, I'll try and find their actual work files (many bigger artists sell them on their crowdfunding sites/Gumroad/etc.) so that I can actually break the drawings apart layer by layer for the purpose of analysis. Of course, all that is something that you'll grasp better over time as you learn the tools and learn to recognize what artists are doing in their own workflow, so don't worry if you don't glean a whole lot of info from the "big guys" right away, you should always be referencing artists who are higher along the skill ceiling from you but not too high that they're using techniques and tools that are outside of your realm of understanding.
Other than that, just try to have fun, don't stress too much about it, and save often!!! Part of creating art is learning to be at peace with the process, so don't stress too much if it takes you a while to get adjusted to the layouts and tools - at the end of the day, digital art is another medium entirely, so it's not uncommon at all for traditional artists to need a lot of practice to 'switch' to digital, because they both utilize different tools and techniques. Be patient with yourself, always be on the hunt for new resources and guides and references, and don't be afraid to experiment and make mistakes (the best part about digital art? Mistakes don't cost you any paint or materials!)
Good luck!! And congrats again! 🥰

Been getting super into wood burning lately!! These are the samples I've been working on to get a feel for the different tips.
Each tile exclusively demonstrates the respective tip; each number represents a different heat level + stroke. On the back of each tile is a drawing I did to see what each tip could do on its own! Wanna note that I traced everything here since I just wanted to jump in and test the pens, but I did my best to credit the originals. Most of the tips are at least decent at both line art & shading, but obviously they each play to their intended strength. It was fun thinking of good references for the two shading tips since (if the lettering was any indication) refined line art was gonna be out of the question, but I am rly happy with how it all turned out. Wood burning feels a lot like water coloring but you use heat instead.
Once these were done, I wanted to test finishes and was was like "Hmmm what four simple images can I use that won't be just four of the same thing, have decent detail while remaining simple, and would be at least somewhat thematic? Guess I'll figure it out later." Then ofc as I was taking a shower I remembered the CANONICAL FOUR:
Tumblr media
Sadly I don't have polycrylic at the moment even tho I deliberately went to the store to get some, had it in hand, but then didn't buy it for some reason???
Anyway maybe it's for the best cuz I think it looks a LOT better without any kind of finish since they all have a slight tone to it that messes with the shading I do in the moment. Might just leave them unfinished tbh
anyway this hobby is rly fun and if u like water coloring but want to add the thrilling danger of fire, i highly recommend it

If you have literally ANY questions. ANY OF THEM. at all. just message me. Even if you're not sure if you want to commission, or don't intend to at the moment. Have a curiosity? My dms are open, friend. And my ask box too, if you'd rather. I'm so open to questions it's unbelievable. I am almost begging you to ask... If you have something to ask.
YAY / NAY / MAY(or, what i will and won't do)
YAY!
Furries

Roblox avatars/characters
Fandom
Oc
Light/medium mech

WHAT I HAVE TO OFFER!
Tumblr media
Okay, so, as shown here, for a standard commission i'll have 3 sizes, along with 4 stages of completion.
The stages are sketch, line art, flat colors, and render (shading/lighting)! sketch is the cheapest, and render is the most expensive. I'll list some prices for each size below :3
Head
Sketch - $5
Colors - $7
Line art - $10
Render - $15
Half
Sketch - $10
Colors - $15
Line art - $20

Line art - $30
Render - $50
you can also give me $100 and i will do nothing :)
Add-ons!
Background (any commission automatically comes with a simple one, free, to be pictured in examples) - $15
Extra character - $7-$20 depending on what you're getting! just ask
COMPLEX object (like a weapon) (simpler ones r free) - $5-$10 (again, depending. just ask)
Anything that would take me more time and effort than usual, really. Time and effort is what you're paying for! I try to keep most of these pretty cheap, cus you're already paying for the drawing itself lol. Just ask if you're unsure.
Other kinds of stuff I'll do!
Icons! (or emojis, they're very similar)
These are basically just the head w/ colors, so $10 If you want an emoji set (or icon set, i guess?) it'll be +$5 for each additional one!
Reference sheets!
These are fun to make! They'll include 2/3 full-body shots of your character (front, side, and/or back), 1 head shot, flat colors, and some spaces for info! You can add in the info yourself, or have me add it in for you (no additional cost). They'll run you around $50 (however, you can add/take away stuff to change the price.)
Character page!
I will just. draw the character a bunch of times. $30 base price (sketch quality) can go up to $70 if you want them VERY spruced up (full render)
FINALLY. What we've all been waiting for... Examples!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are fullbodies! (with their categories and prices in alt) (First is a commission of one of my friends ocs, last one is moff, @/sneablebeable 's character!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are rendered pieces w/ backgrounds! (though pokémon like these, I would consider chibi, making them a slightly lesser price.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reference sheets! Highly customizable, these are 2 I did for art fight a lil while ago :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sketches! (with complex background, with extra character) For these, I can include basic values to help with composition, but usually done just cus i feel like it. (no extra charge if I do).

THE EXCITEMENT IN LOKI’S VOICE WAS HARD TO MISS, AND HER JOY FELT CONTAGIOUS. She practically beamed with enthusiasm, tugging him over to the first line of products, all neatly organized in rows. EDDIE felt the corners of his lips lift upwards at the way she picked up the first lipstick, eagerly and with a glint in her eye. Even if he hadn’t intended to spend the entire day here, he couldn't bring himself to refuse her  — not when she acted so adorably, and brought her so much happiness. “Then, we’ll take our time,” he concluded with a reassuring squeeze to her hand, when it wasn’t busy picking out a new tube. If LOKI truly wished to explore the entire store, then he would come along for the ride, especially when it meant a lot to her.
EDDIE WATCHED ADORINGLY AS SHE DREW LINES ON THE BACK OF HER HAND, DIFFERENT COLORS COVERING HER SKIN WITH EASE. The two shades were vastly different, one crimson and the other dark green. His eyes looked between the two, comparing them and imagining his darling in each shade, and how it would fare against her unique features. A hum escaped his lips. She valued his opinion on the matter, and he wanted his answer to be well-thought, or at least satisfactory. “You could pull off any color, love. You look good in anything,” his voice was genuine, as he meant what he said. There was no resistance as she reached out for his hand, drawing a line on the back of his hand this time. “I think they both would look pretty on you, but do you like both of them? Because if you do, I’ll get you both,” a simple conclusion, maybe too simple and predictable, but he didn’t mind splurging a bit when it came to LOKI.

The line is incredibly simple to draw -no pun intended- and it surprises me that I've never seen it articulated.
There is, on one side, code that automates processes -and yeah, if you don't like the thought of code being used to automate a process, I have bad news about what code is- and the other is code that automates decisions.
It's that simple. Does it make any, whatsoever, decision for you, or does it just automate a process that you have decided to do.
Perhaps one thing creating the debate in question is a disconnect that stems from some not seeing said decisions. Many of the people who accept and cherish AI art are just so far removed from the experience of being an artist that they think the decisional process ends at deciding what your work shall be. They think that the decisions are about what you will draw, in what style, and whatever else they will write in those prompts of theirs, and by the time you’ve mentally written your prompt actually executing it is just a process that the AI automates.
Of course, instead creative work is just an immense bundle of decisions. The creative “process” is not split between decisions and execution but between a bunch of sections of innumerable small decisions - the decision that the drawing shall feature a leaf is not followed by the executive step of “drawing a leaf”, but by a bunch of decisions, made before and during drawing it, about where it should be, what kind it should be, what dimension it should have, how it should be angled and curved, how thick its lines should be, its color and shading and such - and the decision that it shall cast shade is not followed by a mere executive process but by a bunch of decisions about where the shade goes, how hard or soft it is, the tint it has, any potential painting effects applied to it or whatnot... so on and so forth. All decisions that not only AI prompters do not begin to make, but that they could not ever possibly hope to make, because most are decisions that cannot be informed, or made altogether, unless you are involved in the creation of the work - you cannot know how a leaf should be angled in a drawing you can’t see, and you cannot talk about how the leaf should shade an element you don’t know it casts a shade onto. But the reason they feel okay about AI art is that they don't even know about all these decisions, so they see the generated image and thing "Ah, perfect! A piece made according to my stylistic choices" and artists look at it and just see all of the choices that they didn't make. The disconnect is born from two sets of people looking at the same thing and seeing two different things because they have two different sets of eyes.
Conversely, there are points in the artistic creation in which what follows is just an executive process. When you decide that a shape should be filled in with this specific uniform color, what comes next is just execution, coloring inside that shape. And we’ve been accepting AI helping with that for decades - who's out here claiming you're not a real artist if you use the paint bucket tool? And now, there are AI tools that extend that idea to animation - for once you have colored one frame with solid colors you’re satisfied with, after the decisions that the following frames should follow suit comes coloring them accordingly, which at that point is just a manual process that involves nothing but robotic point-and-click work, a process that a cool AI called Cadmium can automate for you without having made any creative decision on your behalf.
Cadmium is very cool, by the way, and I am looking forward to see a wave of animators be motivated by the presence of such tools. We sometimes forget technology is meant to be good and cool and fun and help us, yanno.

Sketchbook 3- Ringling analysis
Young Girl with a Songbird by Jean Raoux
The painting is crafted on a sturdy canvas, textured with smooth layers of oil paint that gives it a tractile depth. The dimensions are roughly 36 inches in height and 28 inches in width. In the painting, the girl is depicted with soft brushstrokes and gentle shading. The background subtly fades into a warm muted tone, enhancing the contract and focus on the girl and the bird. The shapes are organic and flowing, particularly the girls dress and the bird’s feathers. Jean Raoux uses a harmonious palette of soft pastels and earthy tones, predominantly shades of peach, and hints of light blues and greens for the background. The subject is a young girl with a fascination for a bird. The design is balanced through the use of subtle diagonals and gentle curves that guide the viewer’s eye towards the focal point, the connection between the girl and the bird.  The painting emphasizes the intimacy and harmony between the young girl and the songbird. The artist employs rhythm through the flowing lines of the girl’s dress and the bird’s feathers, creating a sense of grace and movement. Proportion is maintained with realistic rendering of the figures emphasizing the innocence and gentleness of the subject matter. Raoux achieves unity through the cohesive color palette and the focused composition on the girl and the bird. Despite this unity, there is variety in the textures and details of the painting, from the softness of the girl’s skin to the intricate patterns on the bird’s plumage, enriching the visual experience and converting a sense of realism.
Jean Raox’s painting is associated with the French Baroque movement. This period, characterized by its emphasis on drama, emotion, and intricate detail, flourished in France during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The artwork reflects Raoux's skill in capturing intimate moments with sensitivity and realism. His ability to depict the girl’s gentle interaction with the songbird suggests a nuanced understanding of human emotions and the natural world. Raoux was known for his portraits and genre scenes that often conveyed themes of innocence, beauty, and contemplation. In this piece, Raouz likely intended to evoke a sense of innocence, tenderness, and harmony between the human and natural realms. The painting celebrates the beauty of youth. Raoux’s message in this painting is conveyed with clarity through his meticulous attention to detail, subtle use of color, and the tender expression the girls face. The focus on the interaction between the girl and the songbird, set against simple and muted background, enhances the emotional impact and reinforces the theme of gentle beauty and tranquility.
“Young Girl with a Songbird” captivates with its tender portray of a young girl holding a delicate songbird. Raouz demonstrates his mastery in capturing emotion and detail through this painting. The composition is carefully balanced with the girl positioned off-center but commanding attention through her gentle interaction with the bird. In my critique, I appreciate Raoux’s ability to convey a sense of innocence and tranquility in this artwork. The girl’s expression of wonder and care towards the bird resonates deeply, inviting viewers to contemplate themes of youth, gentleness, and the connection between humanity and nature. I chose this artwork because of its ability to transcend time and cultural boundaries, speaking to universal themes that resonate across generations. Raoux’s portrayal of the girl and the songbird encapsulates a sense of fleeting beauty and delicate emotion.

KK first is the Prince, second is the protag. Not very catlike in this but oh well lol.
had to google things like "What color skin do lions have" to figure out a likely eye color for a piebald dragon cat since apparently the eye color that comes with leucism depends on the color of the animal's skin. apparently leucistic lions still usually have hazel colored eyes so I went with that.
Lineart is based on this medieval illustration:
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot from a medieval manuscript, showing a quadrupedal creature that has appears to have white fur with what appear to be blue stripes, or could be the ink bleeding through from the page behind it, which seems to show two people standing next to eachother, with the blue stripes on the creature the lines of the other figures.
The creature’s face is mostly the same yellow color as the surrounding page. It has rounded ears, appears to have slits for nostrils on a round muzzle, and two eyes. Its legs are skinny and dog-like, and it has a medium length, skinny tail.
On its back are two wings, spread in flight, with deep blue-black at the front, them dark blue, sky blue with white spots, and finally brown and tan flight feathers.
It holds its legs pulled up towards its body as it flies through the air, facing the right.
End ID.]
Prince Alexial.
Pronouns: He/him/his/himself.
I haven't bothered to figure out names for his parents, the King and Queen. He has one sister.
Tumblr media
[ID: The same creature depicted above, now drawn digitally, with thin lines in a new pose, against a white background. The colors go outside the lines sometimes, and the lineart does not connect evenly in some places.
It is sitting with its back turned to the camera as it faces to the left, its tail curled up and its wings partly folded on its back.
It has off-white grey fur or skin, with bold blue stripes that form a V along its spine, with a single stripe and some small spots on its jaw. Its face has a slight tan or yellow splotch on it, to mimic the discoloration in the original drawing.
The front legs are very simple and hastily scribbled in.
End ID.]
Next:
The protagonist who doesn't have a name.
Pronouns: Cel/cele/cels/celes/celestialf.
Haven't bothered figuring out names for any of cels family members. Has multiple siblings I haven't bothered to figure out any details of.
example paragraph for pronouns:
"She is going to adopt a new puppy soon, as soon as she gets a fence set up around her yard so the puppy can go outside without her having to walk it. Her uncle is going to help set up the fence, since he has a set of power tools he's letting her use, since she lost hers. She's going to buy toys and train the puppy herself."
becomes:
"Cel is going to adopt a new puppy soon, as soon as cel gets a fence set up around cels yard so the puppy can go outside without cele having to walk it. Cels uncle is going to help set up the fence, since he has a set of power tools he's letting cele use, since cel lost celes. Cel's going to buy toys and train the puppy celestialf."
Tumblr media
[ID: The same lineart as above, now with a different color pattern. This character is mottled with different shades of purple, from magenta, to violet, to very deep blue, with large piebald splotches of white. Cels one visible eye is yellow-green, and cel is missing the lower section of cels front Left leg. End ID.]
They're weredragoncats. The protagonist gets a job working in the palace kitchen, and on cels first day of work, the crown prince decides to come into the kitchen to play "pranks" on the servants, and when the two make eye contact, they both feel a sudden sharp, magical sense of familiarity, and realize that that they are soulmates.
The prince immediately leaps, both literally and figuratively, to sweep cele off cels feet, intending to take cele away from cels life of poverty and everything cel's ever known...
...and if you know me you probably know where this is going.

cursory research on god*jesus robot -or- uranai robo :
this little critter , with a carapace of plastic and entrails of silicon , wires and weak metal alloys , was released by bandai japan in nineteen-eighty-four . a fortune telling robot coated in a thick , shallow and strange veneer of sterile-marketable christian iconography . from what i've been able to surmise through limited research-scowering websites , reading words , viewing images and deducing connections between it all-of course it's undeniable and obvious that uranai robo is a simple , purposefully ephemeral novelty toy , especially reflected in the intended use of the toy as the user is meant to wish-pray to uranai robo and recieve one of four simple and incredibly vague responses . an interaction just as shallow as the toy's design and iconography .
(below) uranai robo's printed box instructions (left) and smile two monstrosity puppet articulation appreciation as filler because i hate tumblr mobile post architecture auto-structuring of making a lone image in a row of post format space so freaking huge and obnoxious and ugly !!! >:( ugh , anyways , a post of smile two monstrosity puppet articulation appreciation is slowly boiling into being in my drafts , channelling the absolute rage which festers within me over its being almost entirely cut from the fiiiilm !!! >_< (right , unrelated)

directions of use : 1) stand before god*jesus , 2) clap and clasp your hands in prayer , 3) make your wish-seek guidance from god*jesus . 4) god*jesus responds .
uranai robo has four repsonses to the supplicant ; two of them being head nods of affirmation-confirmation-motivation , one of which being gentle and the other stern . the other two being head shakes of denial-skepticism-trepedation , again one being soft and the other more assertive .

the demonstrations on the toys' boxes are an interesting point of fascination for me , begetting frantic speculation spurred on by the absurd vagueness of the story presented and the way such uncertainty feeds into my schizoaffective nature . i'll save these readings and analysis for an addendum to this post as i want this post to stand on it's own , primarily , as a resource for uranai robo-based education . though , in regard to speculative lore analysis of the box demonstrations , i'm particularly interested in the nigh-complete and total distillation of an intimate interpersonal relationship into its barest , shallowest elements-quarks .
the curious aesthetic beauty of a godless machine* made with the sole and tired purpose of novelty , marketability and profit , nothing deeper , nothing more . *the word machine used as lightly as possible , uranai robo is still a simple toy after all , 'trinket' would be an apt descriptor .
their are a few delightful color varients , (below , left) uranai robo sporting a warm , gentle orange . notably weilding a cross . perhaps a weapon ??? (below , right) uranai robo clad in such a soft and beautiful pink

(below) uranai robo encased within their protective styofoam shelter , probably saying something along the lines of 'th-this is my hole ! it was made for me !'

what a strange thing to become hyperfixated upon , was upset with the initial post as it centered uranai robo as its sole subject while simultaneously containing literally ZERO information whatsoever on uranai robo , simply posted for aesthetics-which is not at all any amount of shade to the original poster !! all love to you sandmandaddysixtynine <3 , drove me into a frenzy scowering for information and learning more of this beautiful little fucker , and i must thank you immensely for it , this drive has been such a beautiful change of pace :,)
sources : shop listing on mercari , blog on medium created by margaret wallace at the tail end of twenty-eighteen , the old robots website , blog on playing in the world game ᵃˢ ᵒⁿᵉ of which i've sadly been unable find any information regarding when it was published and who created it further than the penultimate sign-off of 'the wolf has spoken' .

hi !! what about a blurb where dreams s/o is doing his make-up ?
I LOVE this prompt! 😍
"This is far more tedious than I thought," he said carefully as his lover readjusted on his lap and resumed her intensive application of the liquid substance.
"You're lucky I even had a shade this pale," she teased. "But I think it matches your completion nicely."
One might ask how exactly the mighty Dream if the Endless, the fierce King of Dreams and dark Ruler of the Nightmare realm came to be in this situation. The answer, however, was simple. She had asked.
His lovers passion for such quaint things was something he adore about her. Hair, nails, make up, massages, all manners of personal care and attention she intended to master. And she was quite skilled at them. Though if you'd wanted to know the barest most simple of truths the Dream Lord would do anything to make you happy and to see your beautiful look of concentration as you fussed over him.
You hummed gently as you smoothed the soft brush across his high cheeks and tilted his head up. "Now, close your eyes and don't move."
He complied with a smile. "I shall be as still as possible for you, darling."
A quick warm kiss pressed to his lips as she leaned back to reach for more if her tools, but Dream was patient. He waited until you'd finished to move an inch, gaining a surprised "Wow you're really good at not moving." From his lover, a sinfully delicious thought entering his mind, one he two of you would have to revisit later.
When you had completed the task entirely he opened his eyes and looked at the shades you held before him, waiting for him to choose one. "Red is a classic lip color in the waking world."
"Absolutely not," he said throwing the dark Desire shade back into her pile. "This one."
"I didn't take you for a man that would pick purple." She said thoughtfully as she applied the smooth material to his lips.
He smiled when shed finished and squeezed her hips in his hands. "I am a being of many surprises."
"So it seems," she held the small mirror to him and sighed, nervous. "What do you think?"
Though he knew the work would be done well it was still remarkable to see how elegant her work turned out. Soft contours and precise lines. "It looks perfect."
"You can take it off now," she said.
"Why would I do that?"
She shrugged, a nervous blush on her cheeks. "Most men would feel weird walking around with make up on."
"I am hardly most men," Dream assured her either a kiss. "Besides, I'd much like to hear Lucienne praise your artistry."
"I love you, Dream."
"As I love you, my darling."
