This might be a hot take, but I actually like that Percy figured out Luke was the traitor at the last minute. There were A LOT of clues that would’ve been hard to ignore, and he ignored them for as long as he could. And it’s clear that even after accusing Luke, he’s still surprised and heartbroken at Luke’s confirmation of his suspicions. He was holding out hope, guys!!

Also, the Betrayal Scene flows better as an exchange of dialogue and a swordfight than it did, in the books, as a monologue and a scorpion sting. This also leaves a bigger impact on the viewers and characters because it’s more emotional.

Random reminder that Black Butler is a psychological thriller/horror story with themes of trauma (all kinds of), SA and sexual imagery (in a possesive way) and supernatural elements set in old england. Also following a bunch of weird supernatural crime cases, which are individually used to explore all of the characters, their different dynamics and the different kinds of traumas everyone has. And on top there's some funny moments in moments where the comedy fits in.

thing is like. it is weird that we know basically nothing about Sakamoto's life prior to joining the war. We get a throwaway line from Gintoki secondhand about how his family were rich merchants from Tosa and. that's it. that's all we got. and it's kind of egregious because basically every other character save for the very minor-est ones have *some* kind of childhood/'youth' flashback (off the top of my head, the other egregious omissions are Bansai, Catherine, Shimaru and Matsudaira) but Sakamoto, despite being one of Gintoki's oldest and closest friends and a relatively key character in some arcs, just never gets any kind of backstory, nor does he ever mention a single thing about who he is, where he came from, or what his family are like.

And it's interesting because observing Sakamoto you realise he just kind of never talks about himself in general. We get his Kaientai backstory from Mutsu. The story behind his injury gets told as a wartime flashback but he's not recounting it to anyone (does anyone even know, besides the people who were there?) For someone as affable and open-hearted as he is, it feels quite strange that he's kind of a closed book insofar as who he is, outside of "guy who laughs a lot and loves ships and drinks probably too much and throws up more than he gets laid".

The internal monologue where he says he couldn't tell the other three how he really feels about them because they wouldn't want him around anymore makes me wonder how much of what you see is only what he's letting people see (in the same way he gets Gintoki's name right in a critical moment - demonstrating that he's been doing it on purpose the entire time) (i think it's also pertinent that he is crazy competent when he chooses to be, and has several times proven to be the vital catalyst in turning the tide of a bad situation, both in terms of tactical intelligence and negotiation skills.) Isn't it a bit weird that the guy who'd fight fiercely to defend Zura's name and recount his entire backstory from memory to assert how wrong his doubters are, would just never mention anything about himself, even in his own defence?

Idk. I know this is Overthinking Central over here and I also know it's probably just that Sorachi didn't bother writing a backstory for him (T.T) but it's also a fairly consistent character trait and I'm gonna need to start a 20 hour mind project minimum to figure out why I think it might be.

no ok hold on I just finished the new episode of phineas and ferb and I’m gonna actually cry, why was that so moving? I mean of course it was moving its phineas and ferb. but something about Candace chasing her mom down on that big carnival ride and connecting with her emotionally really got me. Idk maybe I’ve been reading too much poetry recently but something something labors of love and caring for each other as they do you. Linda would have done that for any one of her kids, including her kid’s friends, and you know it.

And they all did it together.

Also has anyone else seen that edit of the scene where Candace yells “mom” and all the mothers in town get up to converge on her location while that song “labour” by Paris Paloma plays? It felt like that, but reversed.
