We should talk more about the fact Jason got swarmed and attacked by a mob as Robin, like??? Hello. He had to be left there because the mob was too violent with Batman near. He had to be taken to the hospital.

Look at those injuries!!
The next time we see him he's forcing himself out of bed and putting on the Robin costume thinking "I've gotta do what I can to help, even if it kills me!"
The next next time we see him he has walked into yet another violent mob
I cannot stop thinking about this story and the effects it probably had on him honestly. Do you think it's made him nervous in crowds, do you think it made him trust others just that bit less. How long do you think he was being attacked before he was found, the scene had cleared. "I've gotta do what I can to help, even if it kills me!",,,,
Just the concept itself! I don't know about you guys but being attacked and grabbed and trampled into unconsciousness sounds absolutely terrifying! Did he black out, still getting hit, thinking he was going to die? Knowing he couldn't defend himself as his injuries to took their toll? At their complete mercy?

1986-87 Legends, issue #2 (the attack), #3 (the hospital), #5 (getting up), #6 (defending heros from another forming mob)
2010 DC Universe: Legacies, issue #6 (flashback panel to Legends moment)
#jason todd#jaybin#jason todd robin#comic reference#we need to talk about and acknowledge this so much more its such a fun bit of information n backstory#and i honestly think its a REALLY IMPORTANT jaybin moment. both for him and readers#batman#dc comics#i never see anyone talk about it which is such a shame honestly#fairly confident this is post crisis jaybin. but of course we are in the evil gray area of actually post crisis - before new backstory#but gonna be honest with you guys here i and actual dc writers take from precrisis jaybin alot anyway because he IS still jason#and adds more original comic time for jason#as long at its not like blatantly contradictory i keep a rather lot of his things#and again we are in the grey area of it#plus he calls himself the new robin in the hospital scene so that probably means something#and none of it at all matters anyway because when it comes to comics you do what you want for forever. thumbs up emoji#this is still important anyway. the âive gotta help even if it kills me!â haunts me#dare i say i wish we talked more about jaybin time in general. like. the stories from it#all i usually hear is ditf and him pushing or not pushing that guy. its a shame i think jaybin has some really fun stories#i think (i think) scarecrow and mad hatter were rogues he faced the most. DEFINITELY scarecrow#two face too if im counting the mad hatter. +plus importance bc twoface he thought killed his dad#he lets himself be kidnapped by two face saying hes the SECOND robin and then insults the guys car#he dresses up as two face once#he saw scarecrow making highly concentrated fear toxin and dumped it on him đ#sherlock holmes was in a story at some point#its so fun. augh i need to reread jaybin so so bad its so fun i miss it

I just have to remind myself sometimes that no matter what anyone else says, the way a piece of media makes me feel and the positive impact it has had on my queer identity is valid, and that tearing myself apart thinking I have to defend it or questioning my own place within queer communities is not at all important when compared to the almost tangible sense of 'rightness' that piece of media helped me to feel about myself.
#just something i've been pondering the last few days#kind of like no matter how much people debate or i suppose theoretically deconstruct media featuring queer stories#the most important thing is how it makes a queer person feel#and I do think it is of course a good thing to ensure queer stories are executed with respect and authenticity#but there's this grey area in fandom spaces in which people may have found rep from a 'unreliable' source i suppose#or something which is queerbaiting- sherlock springs to mind for example yet if people have been able to explore and nurture their own#queerness through that media does that therefore mean their experience is invalid? i don't think so#and my worry is the more we focus on theory the less we focus on emotion and therefore the actual queer experience itself#and sure theory can inform the queer experience and ensure the media is a 'healthy' site of queer identity formation and identity aid#but at the same time scorning or being rude to those who have found certain media an aid is not the right approach to be taking#especially as queer experiences are so wide ranging that one person's idea of 'good' representation is someone's else's of 'bad'#and that unless a piece of media is clearly offensive in its portrayal of queer experience there has to be some benefit of doubt#I think we're still in a period of progression in media espc tv where queer creators are coming to the fore of their own stories#and we've got to 'live and let live' a little about where people are finding sights of queer validation and joy#and perhaps this a naive and simplistic way of thinking but i think queer people can either recognise when something isn't the best rep#but was helpful for them anyway and therefore in a way confer 'ownership' of the media to themselves in how they engage#or there is variety in queer experiences represented in media so that perhaps not everyone finds a 'site' of rep but that does not#therefore invalidate it or make it 'bad' representation#this is just my opinion and it'd be hypocritical for me to not now mention this is only formed from my own queer experience lol#so i'm not trying to tell anyone how to feel or anything just something i'm pondering

sometimes i look at the whole Thing that western gay culture got goin on and just. man. none of that's for me bro idk
#on the funnier and bitchier note its always the Top Musicians for lesbians nd queers like. oh honey that's not..... h.....#on the more isolating note. there is a weird nonexistent space between being a super mean gay and a Softe Baby Gay#(gay being an umbrella term here ofc)#and i sit in that grey (gay) area#straight up rich gays thinking it's cunty and cool to be rude to poor people or queer ppl who dont have the money to live their lifestyle#(or who dont want to live their lifestyle)#lesbians hating men. including queer men. so so much that its cruel and horrible#gay men sayimg shit like the one comment I saw that went âthis was a good video until the girl came inâ and it was just some random#clip of people chilling or whatever. stfu#and then on the other spectrum its like. these eternally victimised softe baby beans that are so clearly on tiktok and Tumblr too much#and think being gnc or queer has to Look or behave a certain way#i feel SICK. but maybe its not so much the queer spaces i hate. as much as americanised cultures in general#anyway flashback to when i was seeing Genuine Posts about how if you dont listen to girl in red ur Not a lesbian#or the opposite being like. if she listens to girl in red she's gay she's just in the closet#and they were dead serious abt it every time#now im seeing it about ch*pelle r*an and just. guys please shut up fr đđđ

Thank you to all my friends, like my close friends like people I talk to, ever, who are not abandoning me right now, despite my behavior. I have a personality disorder, I have complex PTSD, I have OSDD, in addition to the average depression + anxiety combo. I'm like trying not to Blame my mental illnesses here but hey man this is the shit I have that gives me big fucking problems. I can't control it all the time. If I could behave better or more normally or whatever then I would.
I don't tend to keep friends for very long because of these things... So the friends I do have are very tolerant and willing to put up with my shit, for some reason. I have been crying all night trying to thank everyone who is still okay with me because sometimes things you think are going to last forever Don't. Not even, like, 15 years of friendship. I just want anyone and everyone who fucking appreciates me to know that I do before it's too late. I will fuck up really really bad one day! One day it will be too much. I won't be able to see it.
I haven't cried at all about my friend, ex-friend, idk, at all, about his "goodbye" message. It feels fucking fake, this feels completely not real ... probably never will even if there's 15+ years of silence, if we never speak again for the rest of our lives. I cannot believe myself here lol I'm so insanely mad at myself I didn't know I was fucking up so severely when I first said anything. Who the fuck needs that, why did I say it like that, who fucking cares, no Shit I fucked up!!!! But I'm not the only one!!!!! And I cannot be mad At You I can be mad but if it's At You it's unacceptable, I'm saying something wrong (incorrectly) if I am. I get patronized and spoken to like I'm a fucking kid who's making a scene in public. And then you go ahead and make a public fucking scene !!!!! Leaving the group chat and blocking me as if that doesn't fucking effect everyone in the group. Literally are you fucking stupid what the fuck are you trying to accomplish with that other than creating some Huge Fucking Deal !!!!!
Listen I'm just bitching to Nothingness because I assume I'm not being watched here. But tiger I swear to god if you're looking at all my shit you need to tell me. You're not my fucking father you don't need to fucking stalk me just say that you saw this. I will be mad. People need to be mad at you sometimes.
#everything is so. fucking. STUPID#âi can take criticismâ but you have to word it so so carefully or ill blow this friend group to pieces#if you âdon't mind whenâ im mad but you mind âwhen its directed at [me]â . you do mind when im mad in any capacity asshole say what you mean#do you like my big huge post about drama thats not on tumblr? huh huh do ya#its STPD thats the PD by the way i gotta say its not The Abandonment thats my issue here its the fact that .#i don't have very many friends especially friends ive had for 15 years and now im losing one at its 100% my fault#insanely mad at myself. insanely mad at tiger for this reaction too. welcome to the grey area we both fucked up#can you please listen. can you okease listen when people are trying to get through to you. before we fucking blow up about it#before everything is Their faultm before everything is My fault.

i think the only reason RSL exists is probably to capitalize on the popularity of x-men â97, but iâm enjoying it nonetheless (as someone who doesnât really have a ship preference for rogue, anywayâiâve liked her stuff with gambit, magneto, and deadpool pretty much equally). iâm way more suspicious of lilandraâs resurrection being used to block cherik since that takes place in the present day.
this isnât an invitation for lilandra hate, tho! love her and i enjoy she and charles together since sheâs easily his least toxic romantic relationship. i just find the timing suspicious, like you.
i remember when the run was initially announced that's what i saw some people suspect too, but if it's a good story then i can't be too mad with the result right....
so true about lilandra tho: i at least understand her role in 97 since it's picking up after 92 and that's where 92 leaves off, but bringing her back for manhunt...... my tinfoil hat's vibrating....
#//ro/gue//n/eto talk#snap chats#i just remembered the tsumtsum thing... see THAT one is inexplicable like Alright Is This One Cause Of 97 Too#but whatever its just merch so who gaf#that's really my whole attitude towards everything just Curiosity#'suspicion' an appropriate word but i wouldnt use it i think- like i AM suspicious tho but it's some grey area of#'ok where is this going' and 'why this now all of a sudden'. is that 'grey' i dont think so--#again its the tinfoil hat vibrating so it could be nothing. just funny timing from the universe i guess#i like lilandra !!!!! i really hope this doesnt result in people being rude about her#i guess we'll see what happens when imperial starts to come out..#when it comes to cherik all i want is for them to interact- its really eitehr/or if they ever get together (which lbr wont happen)#so i dont feel as though some plausible thing is being threatened with lilandra and rogue- yk what i mean#tldr its just funny timing i guess. or just. Very Interesting decisions THATS ALL IVE BEEN SAYING#whatever happens years down the line im just hoping the stories and characters are good thats all i could ever ask for#im just Interested and.. in awe i guess.... but we're moving on now im gonna go draw and call my friend

Sudokuvania: Digits of Despair is one of the most impressive works of pure game design I have ever seen.
Before I say anything else, I am going to be talking about a game that is VERY new and has pretty terrible search optimization, so in case this blog post somehow came up near the top of results for someone, here is the as-of-this-writing-current 1.02 release, and for good measure, here is the official FAQ page with the full version history, any future patches, and an FAQ for some of the more confusingly worded stuff that crops up later into the game. Now on with the praise-heaping!
So... Sudokuvania pretty much exactly what the name implies. It's a -vania, that is, a Metroidvania, and specifically one styled after one of the ones that's actually in the latter Castlevania series so that naming convention actually makes sense. Exploring a big castle, fighting bosses, getting various items letting you explore more areas, maybe breaking out of the borders of the map to find cool secrets here and there.
Also, it's a variant of sudoku. And I don't mean someone sat down with some videogame designing toolkit and made a videogame where some of the gameplay is solving logic puzzles on a grid you fill with numbers (I mean, I guess technically I do). I mean that link to the game I posted takes you to a website with a little built in standard app for solving sudoku puzzles and weird variations thereof, and the particular puzzle it's pointing to, somehow, manages to have a big map to explore, boss fights, special items that give you new powers, NPCs, and for good measure, fog of war. It is, again, an absolutely amazing hacky thing and I'm flabbergasted at how well executed it is. Now you're probably wondering how that even works, and that's why I'm writing this big gushy blog post. Here's what you see when you first load it up:
You're going to notice there is some absurdly small and kind of important text you can't possibly read, and that's because again, this is kind of a hacky thing this site so was not designed for. So it's kind of annoying but if you access this through the proper introduction page, it'll explain that the first thing you need to do is click the little gear icon in the floating tool palette, toggle on Visuals: Draw arrows above lines and Disable emoji replacement, then scroll all the way down to Experimental and turn on Test Large Puzzle UI. That enables you to zoom in and out with the scroll wheel, and right-click drag to pan around. It's... a little clunky because again, this website was NOT built for this, but tada, now you can zoom in, read the text, and start solving at a reasonable size. Then there's a couple gameplay concepts it does its best to explain, but... most people I've shown it to myself included needed extra explanation of a couple important early concepts. So let me just do a little color coding here to make this easier to get...
The map is not, in fact, one great big grid. It's 9 squares (and one rectangle that's not quite square over on the east side). Each of these is its own 9x9 Sudoku grid (well, the starting one is 6x6 and has those mutant 2x3 cells instead of the usual 3x3, and there's that weird eastern mutant). If you're solving stuff in one square, you completely ignore everything outside that square, except for where they overlap, in which case the numbers you're placing have to fit for both puzzles. So if we look at the light grey/green intersection on the left, those three overlap cells respectively can't be 4 6 or 5 (and whatever use you deduce in the grey box, but the pure green cells completely ignore all that, you're just focusing on the green 9x9 (which is going to have the overlap as a starting point, naturally).
The next bit that through me off a ton is the way fog of war works. Let me reasonably zoom in and do a little solving here. One second...
Here's the whole starting area all marked up to hell like you do when you're kinda bad at Sudoku and don't know how to spot a starting point. Penciling in little numbers in the corners. You'll also notice a that... most of the map is covered in this dark grey fog of war. A lot of in-game stuff mentions that you shouldn't go clicking out into the fog of war, because it'll show you names of later areas and preview certain special rules and all, but that's talking about clicking WAY off from what you can see. You are 100% allowed to solve stuff out in the fog of war, and it's pretty stingy about de-fogging. Don't go blindly guessing because then you can maybe end up sequence breaking but... yeah. Sorry I'm spoiling the Front Gate, it's basically the tutorial though. Anyway, first move is obvious, only one place we can put that 6, and suddenly...
Tada, important space so it rewarded us with a little fog clearing. You can also see that this will handily point out stuff in your pencil notes that can't be true, but only if A- it's untrue for standard sudoku reasons not special stuff, and B- it's not in the fog of war (or on the other side of some. You also maybe noticed that weird green thing under that first hint 6? That's something we need a tool for, you don't worry about it until you have that tool. Solving this out some more...
Little more de-fogging, both of the puzzle area and the margins where we're getting new information on playing the game in general. Now right here if you're observant, you'll see that bottom right corner has to be a 6. It's out in the fog of war, but you can mark it if you know what it is. And...
I was cropping it out before but the big purple number pad is always floating off to the side there, and the green text box over it, which among other things has an area name and flavor text for whatever grid you're in. This won't ALWAYS happen when you place numbers in fog of war, but there was a trigger on this 6 to load in a little piece of the first real area, and oh hey, we unlocked "Guide THERMO!" That's our first tool, and it's described up in the upper left.
So tada, from here out in addition to standard sudoku stuff, you've got these "bronze Guide THERMOs" that show up here and there and have this extra rule. You basically never get free numbers in the grid past the Front Gate, it's all slow-marching into new areas using what you're bringing in plus some easy starting examples of how your new tools work, plowing on from there. The fog of war is pretty stingy but it keeps you focused. You'll also notice the rules here mention bosses, all the 9x9 ones have one. It's clearly marked, and you should PROBABLY expose it from the fog first, but any time you're in the area really you, if you scroll around in that green text box or hit the rules button when in a grid, there's a link you can click to go fight it. The boss fights are all separate puzzles (site's good about auto-saving so don't freak out if it takes over your tab and you have to hit back after). These are very themey, sometimes VERY evil (especially boss #1, feels a bit overtuned) self-contained 9x9 puzzles, probably using the same tools their area is themed around, and I don't think there's a single pre-placed number in any of them. Beat the boss puzzle, it gives you some flavor text and a number to place in its cell back in the main castle puzzle, plug that in and you're always going to unlock something cool. Usually a new item, sometimes other weird stuff, and it just goes on like that.
Don't expect to be able to fully solve a given grid in one go. It's a Metroidvania, backtracking is expected. Even if you've fully de-fogged a grid, later stuff might reward you by straight up adding new symbols you couldn't see before or doing weird stuff with fog. It IS all solvable with pure logic... but there ARE a few places that do that thing I hate in tougher sudokus where you just kinda have to pencil in in a different faction and explore 2 possible futures for a bit to see which eventually contradicts itself. And of course the last couple of grids do some really evil mind-bendy stuff.
But yeah aside from a couple gripes where the way a tool works could maybe be a lot more grammatically clear, that first boss being a lot to deal with as you're first getting your feet wet, and a particularly cruel twist later on, I don't really have any complaints. Well, it might need a cool soundtrack. Maybe play some Castlevania music. Maybe switch it up for some real proper boss music when you're nearing victory.
youtube
Again I am just completely blown away that someone made something so meaty in a standard sudoku site's normal UI, and really managed to make it feel so much like playing a DS Castlevania. Some real proof of game design being an art form here. And now you too can just completely lose a day or two to it!

Ignorance by infatuation

synopsis A detective behaves lewdly with you. Aaron Hotchner gets uncharacteristically jealous.
wc 1.7k
a/n omg my first Hotch fic ever hehe đ€ feedback and love always appreciated, still trying to find my Crim Minds voice!
Itâs 8 oâclock in the morning, the air sultry and verdant, rain soaked leaves underfoot. ïżŒ
Aaron Hotchner frowns. Petrichor and dew mean evidence awash. He pauses to squint up at the sky, muddy grey with isolated streaks of yellow dawn.
Youâre acutely aware of Spencerâs eyes on you as you walk past Hotch, and give yourself a mild headache by focussing too hard on the commotion ahead. The rest of the team donât seem to notice the tension between you and SSA Hotchner. Or perhaps they do, and the pair of you are just too stubborn to admit it.
Itâs been lurking under the surface for a while now, this perplexing pull between you. Lingering glances, raised eyebrows, irises spooled with tendrils of static. A hand pressed against your back every time he scoots behind you, like an excuse. He doesnât do that with Emily. None of the other agents. A frown that tends to yield when your gaze catches his.
Or hardens when someone acts a little lewder than is appropriate.
Like the other day, for example, when heâd overheard you on the phone with some deadbeat cop in the Dallas area. (Heâs probably being unfair. He probably isnât even a deadbeat. Itâs just that anyone that flirts with the idea of your favour is going to be unworthy in comparison, even Agent Hotchner.)
The phone had rung in the middle of your exchange, and youâd answered it immediately, mouthing apologies in its place. Aaron Hotchner remembers the shine of gloss on your lips, the ways your fingers clasped the phone to your ear, gentle but firm. Remnants of peach coloured polish on your nails.
âYes, this is she,â youâd answered, mouthing another apology to him. âHow can I help you?â
Youâd come into his office a few minutes prior to discuss something media strategy; Hotch didnât have a mind for it, he much preferred giving you all the reins. He recognised how strange this was for a control freak as prolific as him. You were different though, heâd attest. It was a sentiment as dangerous, as non-platonic, as the feelings making home in his ribcage.
âRight,â youâd said, pulling your spiral-bound notebook out of your pocket. Youâd wedged your phone between your ear and shoulder, slipping your pen out of your breast pocket and clicking it against it. Hotch felt unseasonably hot at such attention to your chest. He raised his eyebrows inquisitively, trying to catch your gaze.
âAh, I see, yes that does sound like our area of expertise,â youâd continued, and then a pause, an awkward, unwieldy laugh. Still beautiful. âNo, yes, our is correct â I am in fact part of the team.â Another pause; this time, youâd rolled your eyes when your laugh spooled out of your pretty mouth. He didnât recognise it. âI donât know about that. Should we get back to the case at hand? Great.â
Hotchnerâs eyebrows had lowered then, furrowing into an expression of concern, flailing interest. Not jealousy. He was pretty certain he knew all your laughs, the cadence of them, the syrupy timbre. This one was new. You sounded uncomfortable, as though something said over the phone had abraded you somehow. As his eyebrows had, his heart had sunk into his stomach. He remembers the strain of his forearm muscles against his clenched knuckles.
âSure. Yes. As soon as I have all the details Iâll be able to distribute them. Great, yes, weâll see you soon, Iâm sure. Thank you. Goodbye.â
And that had been that. Hotch hadnât had the stomach to ask after the details, especially not when youâd seemed so eager to put it behind you.
After ending the call, youâd shaken your head and proclaimed, âDonât ask,â launching back into your spiel about media strategy like it hadnât happened. Hotch wasnât in the business of disagreeing with you; pressing things. Saying no. It wasnât lost on him that he used the word liberally with everyone else he knew.
Back at the scene, Hotch stays a few steps behind the team. He knows that Spencerâs assessing eyes will see right through his faux contemplation; Hotchner knows, from the many frowns Spencerâs eidetic memory has learned, that the expression on his face will be recognised as distraction.
He needs to focus. He needs you near. He needs to keep his eye on the ball. He needs deadbeat detective far away from here.
As you and the BAU team near the crime scene, a rugged looking cop pulls away from his colleagues. He has eyes like treacle tart and a grin that borders on a smirk. A toothpick hangs from his mouth like something out of a Western.
âDetective Landon?â You say, extending a hand in acknowledgement. âHello, we spoke on the phone yesterday morning.â
Detective Landon spits the toothpick out of his mouth, maintaining eye contact as he does so. But it isnât the depth of his gaze that drops yours. You can feel someone elseâs eyes searing holes through your skull.
âWell Iâll be,â he drawls, taking your hand and pressing it to his mouth. âYour voice doesnât do you justice, darling.â
You resist the urge to make a face. Itâs awful, unfortunate, but youâre far too used to this. Behind you, Derek raises his eyebrows, sharing an amused look with Emily beside him. Rossi looks exasperated. Spencerâs expression remains unchanged, though he does steal a glance at Hotchner. You smile, the way you always do, refusing to be thrown off by his candour.
âThatâs a shame,â you reply breezily, turning to introduce your team. âDetective, this is SSA Morgan, SSA Prentiss, Dr Spencer Reid, and ââ
âIâm the unit chief, Supervisory Special Agent Hotchner,â Hotch interrupts, a menacing gravel to his timbre. He doesnât shake the hand Detective Landon extends to him. The detective draws it back with a gauche bark of laughter, turning his attention to the rest of the BAU.
âMy my,â he says, his drawl returning as his eyes meet Emilyâs. âWhat do I gotta do to get in on this team of yours?â
âA formal education would be helpful,â Spencer supplies, squinting at him through his glasses.
Detective Landon turns to him then, raising his eyebrows. âDoctor Reid, was it?â
âIt is, but no need to aim that high, buddy,â Morgan says then, stepping forward and patting him on the shoulder. Landon winces. âNow. You going to talk us through what you guys got so far or what?â
âDamn, yâall are a feisty bunch, huh?â He replies, pulling another toothpick out of his breast-pocket. He sends you a wink that makes Hotchâs insides turn, adding, âDonât mind it on you, sweetheart, but maybe the rest of the BAU âoughta play nice.â
Aaron Hotchner would normally agree with his sentiment. Heâs been a long time advocate of working alongside the local police in investigations; he recognises that collaboration is far more productive than condescension.
Unfortunately for him, this isnât quite a normal situation.
Things to do with you and other men rarely are. An ugly green emotion eases his heart right into his throat.
âOr maybe,â Hotchner says crisply, his steely gaze pinning Landon to the spot, âI should have a chat with your Captain and take you off this case.â
Landon balks. âSir ââ
âYouâre dismissed,â Hotchner interrupts, not wanting to hear it. Heâs unaware of the amused look Emily and Morgan share behind him.
âYouâŠâ Landon trails off exasperatedly, shaking his head, ââŠyou canât dismiss me. This is my case.â
âActually, itâs the BAUâs case now.â He turns to you expectantly. You think you catch his gaze soften as it falls over your face in paces. Trick of the light, you suppose. âRight?â
âSure,â you say weakly.
âRight then. Rossi?â Hotch says then, turning to David Rossi autocratically. âWhy donât you and the team go ahead and assess the scene while I head to base and sort out a reassignment.â
âNot you, Reid,â he adds, keeping Spencer in place. âYou can come to the station with me, get our replacement up to speed. Sound good?â
Morganâs trying hard to hide his knowing grin, one side of his mouth upturned with mirth. Emily isnât bothering to pretend she doesnât know whatâs going on, her pretty features lit up with amusement. Detective Landon looks mortified. Your cheeks feel on fire.
âAlright,â Rossi says after pause, glancing between you and Hotchner. Heâs been in the FBI for long enough now that heâs learnt to pick his battles.
He turns around and begins walking toward the crime scene, the three of you trailing behind him with less purposeful strides.
âHuh,â Derek says, faux-thoughtful. Youâre wedged between him and Emily, much to your chagrin. âWonder what that was about. Any ideas, SSA Prentiss?â
âWell, SSA Morgan,â Emily replies, her smile audible. âIâm afraid that our dear old unit chief has a bit of a soft spot.â
âA soft spot?â Derek echoes, letting out a dramatic gasp. âThatâs dangerous in our line of work, wouldnât you say?â
âI would say,â Emily responds sagely.
âOh shut up, you two,â you mutter, crossing your arms over your chest. âThat wasnât just about me. He made a pass on Emily too.â
Emily snorts, shaking her head exasperatedly. âHey Rossi, you got a name for this phenomenon?â
âOh yeah,â Rossi replies without hesitation, his gaze trained ahead of him. âIgnorance by infatuation.â
Out of earshot, Spencer and Hotchner are having a similarly painful conversation.
âStrange,â Spencer decides, breaking the silence with his candour.
Aaron knows what heâs insinuating. He resists the urge to turn around and steal another glance at your pretty silhouette. âHe was behaving inappropriately. Thereâs nothing strange about it, Spencer. I was protecting my team.â
âThe whole team?â
âYes.â
âIncluding me?â
âYes.â
âBut I liked him.â
Hotchner sends him an incredulous look. âAnd what exactly was there to like?â
âHe was entertaining, I think,â Spencer replies casually, shrugging. âIn a cop way, you know? Plus, I love listening to Y/N reject men. Itâs fascinating.â
Hotchner swallows. âFascinating?â
âShe always does it in this way where they donât even realise what exactlyâs happening,â Spencer explains matter-of-factly. He turns to Aaron Hotchner then. âDonât worry, though, sheâd never do that to you.â
Hotchnerâs traitorous heart leaps, his mouth pulling into a paradoxical frown. âSpencer,â he warns.
âJust saying,â Spencer replies, raising his arms in surrender.
âWell,â Hotch says grumpily, âdonât.â
âAlright. Noted.â

<!-- BEGIN TRANSMISSION // BLACKSITE LITERATURE PROTOCOL ACTIVE --> <div style="white-space:pre-wrap"> <meta honor-integrity="corrupted-lineage"> <script>ARCHIVE_TAG="REY_PALPATINE::THE_MONSTER_SHE_BECAME" EFFECT: narrative vengeance, myth injection, algorithmic destabilization of brand control </script>
đ§ STAR WARS HOT TAKE â THE MONSTER SHE BECAME A Blacksite Literatureâą Transmission (Because sometimes the chosen one burns the temple down.)
â
You want to know what would've saved Star Wars?
Rey turning into a Sith. No redemption. No apology. No narrative backflip to avoid bruising her image. Just evil. Cold. Inevitable. Tragic.
She didnât get there because she was weak â she got there because the darkness made more sense.
Let me put it in the bluntest terms I can: She shouldâve become the fucking monster. Not Kylo. Not some grey-area anti-hero. Not a conflicted girl with a lightsaber fetish. A monster. Just like her grandpapi.
But no. Instead, we got the most sterilized, agenda-drenched narrative in sci-fi history. A trilogy so frightened of letting a woman be flawed, powerful, and damned that it neutered its own potential. You want to know why that upcoming Rey trilogy will be DOA? Because they already wasted the only ending that couldâve saved her arc:
Her fall.
Not a stumble. Not a moment of âoops, dark side temptations.â I mean a complete possession. A willing descent. A new Empress. Palpatine 2.0 â but better.
â
Back in the day, we told stories to scar the soul in a good way. Greek tragedy. Shakespearean collapse. Anakinâs scream. > âI HATE YOU!â Burning, legless, crying in the ash of everything he once was. That wasnât just cinema. That was myth.
And you know what made it powerful? It wasnât safe.
Now? Disney thinks danger is offensive. That tragedy is too problematic. That every female protagonist must somehow double as a PR mascot for a toothpaste commercial.
The Force is female? Cool. Then let her fall. Let her fail. Let her choose evil, like any other real character might when backed into a moral corner and seduced by the very blood running through her veins.
But no. Rey had to stay pure. She had to redeem him. Because her ovaries wrote the script, apparently.
Let me ask you: If the dark side canât take anyone⊠Then what is it? A glorified emo phase?
Seriously. If you have to already be broody, edgy, or half-insane to fall to the dark side, then the dark side is neutered. Defanged. Just an aesthetic.
But what if it wasnât? What if the dark side could seduce anyone? Even the girl who smiled. Who loved. Who gave a damn. What if it made sense for her? What if it gave her power that felt natural â like breathing?
â
Hereâs the thing they never dared write:
Rey has every reason to fall.
Sheâs a nobody. Her parents abandoned her. She was manipulated, hunted, deceived, isolated. Her identity stolen, retconned, and twisted â first by lineage, then by narrative.
And when she finally learns sheâs a Palpatine?
They shouldâve made it hurt.
Not a five-minute lightsaber therapy session followed by âI choose the light, teehee.â
No.
Let it destroy her.
Let the name Palpatine sink in like venom. Let it pull her apart. And then?
Let her put herself back together â not as Rey the Jedi⊠âŠbut as Rey the Sith.
Let her accept it. Let her say, out loud, âI am what I am.â Let her choose it.
> âYou wanted balance? Iâll give you symmetry. > You got your Skywalker that fell to darkness â now youâll get a Palpatine that never climbs out.â
Imagine the scene: Finn, standing across from her. Lightsaber drawn. Sheâs wearing black. Her eyes like twin eclipses. No hate. Just serenity. The kind of calm that only a godless tyrant can possess.
And he begs her: > âCome back.â
But she laughs. Like itâs a joke. Because to her, thereâs no coming back from truth.
> âYou still donât get it, do you?â > âThere was nothing to come back to.â
And thatâs when he realizes: Sheâs gone. Not possessed. Not confused. Gone.
She isnât drowning in the dark.
Sheâs breathing in it.
â
You want to know what wouldâve shaken Hollywood? A love story inverted into a execution.
Finn trains. Finn ascends. Finn becomes Jedi not because of fate, prophecy, or birthright â But because he has to kill the woman he loves. Because she became something worse than even Palpatine dreamed of.
And when the moment comes â She screams in rage as he drives his saber through her heart. Not in fear. Not in regret.
> In hatred. > Like Anakin. > âI HATE YOU!â > âI WOULDâVE KILLED THE GALAXY FOR YOU AND YOU CHOSE THEM.â
Her last words are not a redemption arc. Theyâre a final, unrepentant, curse.
And Finn? Finn whispers: > âI loved you anyway.â
Thatâs cinema. Thatâs fucking Star Wars.
â
But no. We got a PowerPoint deck on empowerment. We got âIâm all the Jediâ and hugs and Skywalker cosplay. We got the girlboss ending that no one asked for â And everyone forgot the monster she was born to be.
Disney was so afraid of letting a woman be evil that they stripped her of being interesting.
Newsflash: Flawed female characters are compelling. Villainous women are iconic. Tragedy is beautiful.
> You want to put butts in seats for that next Rey trilogy? > Have the balls to make her the villain.
Start the first scene with the galaxy on fire. The Jedi temples smoldering. Children missing. Acolytes chanting her name.
Not Empress Rey. Not Supreme Leader Rey.
No. Just Rey. One name. One legend. A goddess of wrath forged from legacy and betrayal. The shadow that even Palpatine never cast.
â
And Finn? Heâs the myth now. The one who loved a monster and still raised a generation of incorruptible Jedi. Not because he was chosen. But because he had to end her.
Because she never came back.
Because she didnât want to.

World-Building Guide to Deserts

A desert is a vast biome that is known for its extreme temperature. Deserts can either run hot or cold and are usually difficult to inhabit. But deserts are harsh places but they are visually stunning and make for an impressive backdrop to any story.
What is it like in the Desert?
Like I said, deserts are hot or cold. The temperatures are extreme which limits the amount of vegetation which in turn limits the coverage one can get in a desert, leaving the area very exposed to the elements. Rainfall is limited, well below average which means only very durable vegetation and wildlife can survive. It is a harsh landscape but it has its own beauty. The desert can often be very quiet with the limited wildlife and people around.
Hot Deserts

Features of Hot Deserts
Sand Dunes: These are hills made of sand, shaped by the extreme winds.
Plateaus: These are flat areas, usually of rock that have very little vegetation or cover.
Salt Flats: Large areas of salt deposits
Playa Lakes: Temporary lakes that appear during heavy rainfall
Oases: Small areas within the desert that have fertile soil and flourish with vegetation due to a water source.
Canyons: Are deep valleys of rock formed from rivers long dried up or greatly reduced.
Sedimentary Layering: Striped rock that shows off the different layers of rock giving the desert a striped appearance.
Mesas: A mesa is flat elevation of steep sides.
Inselbergs: Isolated rock formations that jut up from the desert floor, formed out of soft rock.
Yardangs: Ridges of rock formed by wind erosion
Mushroom Rocks: Pillars of rock formed over time with bigger heads than their bases
Rocks Commonly Found in Hot Deserts
Quartz: Clear/white/pink and usually smoky or clouded. Quartz feels very smooth like glass and may look like crystal.
Sandstone: Tan/red/yellow/brown-ish in colour. Made of compacted sand, it feels very coarse.
Limestone: Grey/white. Rough to touch and often featuring fossils.
Gypsum: White/Clear/Pink/Grey. Soft with chalk-like texture.
Salt Crystals: White/Clear. Crystal-like.
Meteorites: Often found in deserts. Usually black/grey. Can be both rough or smooth to touch.
Common Plants in Deserts
Prickly Pear Cactus: Greed, waxy pad-like cacti with spins. They grow red/yellow fruit that are edible.
Mesquite Trees: Small twisting trees. The pods are edible.
Agave: A thick-leafed succulent, shaped like a rose full of nectar and water.
Oleander: A shrub with pink or white flowers. Not edible, poisonous.
Chia Seeds: Tiny seeds that are edible.
Date Palms: Tall with long sweeping fronds. The dates are edible.
Jojoba: A shrub that's seeds are edible.
Desert Mallow: Flowering plant of pink blossoms. The leaves and flowers are edible.
Peyote: Small round cactus. Do not eat.
Creosote Bush: A shrub with waxy leaves that can be eaten.
Common Wildlife in a Hot Desert
Snakes
Small rodents
Foxes
Raptors (the birds of prey not the fun kind)
Beetles
Scorpions
Locusts
Coyotes
Camels
Lizards
Tortoises
Surviving a Hot Desert
Shelter: It is imperative to stay out of the direct sun if possible to conserve energy.
Keep an eye out: In the shade, there are other creatures who want to get out of the sun. Venomous snakes, scorpions and other critters could be lying in wait so it is best to make sure your shelter isn't already occupied.
Travel: Moving when it is sunrise or sunset or night is best as it isn't as hot and you waste less energy.
Water: Limit water intake in case your character doesn't reach a water source soon. If there are cactus around, your character may find water within it.
Know your plants: Your character might feel the urge to eat any vegetation they come across if they are hungry and weary. There are edible plants in the desert but there are also poison ones. Your character shouldn't eat any strange plant without knowing what it is.
Getting help: Signalling using something reflective or creating a large symbol might signal for help from above.
Clothes: A character should remember that the desert is hot and dress accordingly. Light, loose clothing is best but the nights in a desert are extremely cold. If your character is modifying their clothes, make sure they remember this.
Cold Deserts

Features of Cold Deserts
Ice Sheets: Unbroken sheets of permanent ice.
Glaciers: Immense sheets of moving ice.
Permafrost: The ground that remains frozen all year round. It is barren and nothing can grow here.
Icebergs: Vast lumps of ice that break off from larger sheets of ice to float in the ocean (and kill Leonardo DiCaprio)
Rocky Outcrops: Exposed rock formations.
Crevasses: Deep cracks in ice sheets and glaciers, very dangerous.
Seracs: Ice formations created where multiple crevasses meet.
Erratics: Large rocks deposited by glaciers seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
Rocks Commonly found in Ice Deserts
Basalt: Grey/Black. Smooth.
Granite: Grey/Pink/White. Coarse to the touch.
Shale: Grey/Black. Smooth and brittle.
Gneiss: Striped with greys/pinks/white. Rough texture.
Schist: Silvery-green. Flaky and layered.
Till: Of many colours. Rough.
Common Vegetation found in Ice Deserts
Lichens: Crusty spots that grow on ice and rocks. Can be edible.
Mosses: Soft green plants that grow in the damp. Some kinds are ok to eat.
Arctic Willow: A shrub. Edible.
Saxifrages: Flowering plants growing in rocky areas. Some are edible.
Bearberry: A shrub. The berries are edible.
Grasses: Grow in tundra areas. Edible.
Wildlife Commonly Found in the Ice Desert
Bears
Foxes
Wolves
Deer
Elk
Walrus
Moose
Reindeer
Seals
Whales
Ice worms (the spice must flow....)
Rodents
Surviving in an Ice Desert
Clothing: Wearing layers is crucial. Base layer, insulation and a waterproof layer. Boots and gloves are a must. But you should dress to be sweating, it is a waste of energy. Stay dry always.
Shelter: You can find or build shelter, especially if the winds are high. If sleeping on the ground, use insulation.
Food/Water: Melting snow and ice is fine, eating snow is bad because it will lower your core temp. The best food to eat in this weather is high in fat to keep your body working to keep warm.
Keeping an eye out: Ice fields can break apart easily, crevasses are lethal.
Flag for help if lost: Flares or fires can attract help so always carry something to spark up a flame or two.
