O tipo 1 da doença, que é o diagnóstico do José Antônio, é considerada “a forma mais grave da doença, sendo a principal causa de mortalidade infantil decorrente de uma doença monogenética”, de acordo com informações da Agência Nacional deVigilância Sanitária (Anvisa). O bebê precisa do medicamento Zolgensma, que custa R$12 milhões, a Justiça Federal em Cuiabá garantiu que repassará o dinheiro para comprar a droga, que é considerada a mais cara do mundo pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Defesa do Consumidor (IBDC). De acordo com a Fernanda, que é mãe do bebê, os médicos explicaram que só o medicamento pode parar a evolução da doença. No entanto, deve ser aplicada até os 2 anos de vida. A família do bebê está em uma corrida contra o tempo, pois ainda aguarda a União depositar o valor para fazer todos os trâmites legais para a compra do medicamento.
