I love to complain about social media as much as the next guy but I have to say one thing I really love about it is how a lot of people with very niche jobs realized their work is extremely satisfying to watch and started posting videos to create another source of revenue

Rory has been trending a little bun-obsessed lately, probably because we have lots of bunnies in our condo complex and she has to practice a lot of impulse control as she can't chase or really fixate on them, so I've been looking for ways to help her fulfill her bunny-murder urges safely.

Unfortunately we don't have a ton of areas I comfortable coursing her (letting her chase buns until she can't see them or catches them) because our bunnies are mostly urban animals BUT I was at the bougie pet store for unrelated reasons and they had dried rabbit feets which gave me an idea!

I bought a few and got some paper bags and put Rory in another room while I hid them around the apartment to sniff out, destroy, and eat. I figured it would satisfy some of her murder urges, even if it's not the whole predation sequence.

She was pretty happy about it! I'll try to add this to our rotation of enrichment activities and maybe get a few rabbit feet to chuck at her outdoors sometimes. Hopefully it'll help vent those bunny frustrations so they don't build up and hurt my good dog behaviours.

just finished the tv show so can we talk about a slow horses obikin au set in the gffa?? the jedi order doesn't kick anyone out of its ranks obviously, but if you fuck up enough missions (i.e., you go undercover and accidentally blow your cover and blow up half a planet; you are assigned protection detail and get distracted in a tourist trap and the senator you're supposed to be protecting dies; you cause a few very serious diplomatic incidents, etc etc) then you're asked politely to pack your things and report to the smaller subsection of the Jedi Order that exists in the outer rim on Yavin IV. sort of known amongst all the other Jedi that this where the failed Jedi knights go, the ones who made it through their padawanship and into Knighthood only to royally fuck up sometime later. you're still technically a Knight, but like. You're a Yavin Knight. rip.

so in an au where anakin is trained by someone else, he gets sent over to yavin iv after the events of aotc (he fucks the person he's assigned to protect, abandons the planet to go to tatooine, brings his mission to a firefight on geonosis, etc) where he meets the head of the yavin branch, obi-wan kenobi

or re-meets? because he has vague memories of obi-wan kenobi back when he first arrived at the temple. he was qui-gon's other padawan, the one that was knighted so master jinn could train anakin instead.

and he's pretty sure obi-wan, who acts all sage and aloof and impartial, still carries a grudge about it because all the missions anakin has been given are shit and obi-wan has taken to ending their debriefs with some pointed comment or another like 'do try not to slip and fall into this one's bed, knight skywalker. only as mr. silvaero is a Huttese arms dealer, he may prove to be less accommodating than a galactic senator' etc etc

after a few months of this uncalled for treatment and frank abuse of power (in anakin's words), he confronts kenobi--master kenobi--about it, and after receiving a dressing down that includes several slights against his character (because obi-wan is a petty bastard who never thought he'd have to see anakin skywalker again after naboo), they accidentally end up fucking about it

(sweaty and smoking a deathstick afterwards, lounging behind his desk still naked, obi-wan is like 'well i can see now why that's your speciality' and anakin doesn't know if he wants to kill him or kiss him more)

when it comes to the likes of bees, their bodies have ferromagnetic crystals- or metals have have an easily observable magnetic field. these metals exist as iron granules in their abdomens.

fish on the other hand are capable of sensing magnetic fields due to their electroreceptive organs (ampullae of lorenzini), since anything with electricity has magnetism. these organs have the sole purpose of generating electric fields for the purpose of navigation (and in other cases, hunting- like with eels to stun prey) with the aid of electrolytes

with birds, there's two ways they can interact with magnetic fields: numerous species of birds possess iron-like materials in their beaks that make them sensitive to magnetic fields, and- like in the case of the european robin- possess special proteins in their eyes known as cryptochrome 4 that Potentially reacts to magnetic fields (based on some studies i found, scientists arent sure if it's specifically cryptochrome 4 that's magnetically sensitive- but regardless they have observed in birds' eyes electrons moving from one tryptophan ((amino acid important for protein generation + growth)) to another, which creates what is known as a radical pair WHICH Itself is magnetically sensitive. the validity of some tests vary as in a closed environment, the reaction isn't as potent- but it may be stronger in their natural environment)

It absolutely will be, I promise!!! I’m just notoriously bad at working on multiple WIPs at the same time, and I need to finish my Jonerys multichap first. But there’s only 2 chapters left (which I am really hoping to get done for NaNo this year) and then the ice dancing au will be my main focus once again. I’m gonna have it done before I go to Figure Skating Worlds in 2025, that’s the goal 😂

Not to make it about Helldivers, but playing Helldivers 2 with the hug emote really feels nice because it's kinda somenof the first times I really got to see a lot of likely (though def not exclusively) men greet each other and me with hugs, even if virtually.
