Since western media (especial American) are working overtime to suppress South Africa's hearing and Yemeni voices I want you to keep these 3 points in mind:
Not 1 major American news outlet broadcasted the South Africa case hearing on Thursday, but they broadcasted Israel's case hearing, today, Friday 12/1/2024.
Yemen has repeatedly said that the Red Sea blockage is because it's following its duty to upload "Article 1 on the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the crime of Genocide" and IS NOT to "endanger the freedom of navigation in one of the world's most vital waterways" like Biden put it, in his statement.
Gaza Strip is still under severe bombardment. Don't allow yourself to get used to it. They just bombed an entire neighborhood in Khan Yunis which is a southern city! And as of recently the electricity has gone off in a hospital because gas has ran out.

So they’re entire arguement is:
Hamas (South Africa already condemned Hamas, Hamas is not a state so cannot be judged at this court)
Antisemitism
SELF DEFENSE
Hostages (that they didn’t accept back)
Holocaust
Hamas
Hamas
Hamas
Literally all their argument is Hamas
Human Shields

Before people start getting mad at the ICJ for not ‘doing enough,’ from the day South Africa announced the case a) we’ve known that these proceedings will take time (that Palestinians do not have) to have tangible outcomes b) the ICJ does not have meaningful immediate power over Israel’s current activities, and c) Israeli officials have repeatedly affirmed that they would not comply with any orders for ceasefire if such orders had been called by entities with meaningful immediate power over their current activity.
However, I think the preliminary ruling in Gaza’s favor is still important. It’s acknowledgement. It’s bearing witness to Israel’s actions and saying ‘we are looking. we see you. this is wrong and should not happen.’ And no, that’s not enough to save lives today, it’s not a call for reparations and an end to the apartheid, but it is an important political precedent to set. I really feel that the tables are turning and things are changing; maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but we are approaching the precipice of a new paradigm. Take heart and have hope - Palestine will be free, and we will see justice and peace in our days.

So maybe I'm just missing it or it hasn't reached my dash yet, or I didn't notice it in a post I have seen, but the actual write-up from the ICJ decision doesn't seem to be being passed around?
The English PDF can be found here. The French one is here (no other official translations as of writing this post). The English one has a summary of the proceedings that goes point by point through the reasoning for the hearing, South Africa's and Israel's arguments, etc., and has some examples that back up South Africa's claims. The French one has a much shorter write-up, mostly the official (?) layout of the ruling with the judges' votes.
For the English one, the long-form ruling & explanation begin at page 14, paragraph 41. The official ruling with the judges' votes begins at page 24, paragraph 86.
It's actually not that bad of a read, especially as far as legal jargon goes. They make it clear that the ICJ is limited in what it can do and call for, especially until the merit proceedings. They also state that Israel has to report back with, essentially, an itemized list of how they stopped their genocidal actions within a month of the order (1/26/24, so 2/26/24). South Africa will have a chance to submit its comments on Israel's report to the Court.

Important about countries pulling funding from UNRWA:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ayyy, Germany deciding International Holocaust Remembrance Day was the perfect date to start directly violating the Genocide convetion again!
@my fellow Germans: This better make you furious. Seriously, I'm not joking around or making excuses for your silence anymore. This should infuriate you. Your protests against the AfD and other right-wingers aren't worth shit if you don't speak out about this. Your "Never Again" means nothing if you stay silent when Germany literally does it again.
@everyone else: It's not just Germany (I'm just adressing them separately because I've got a bone to pick with my own country and their complicity right now), a lot of countries cut funding to UNRWA yesterday because of an accusation by Israel that 12 members of UNRWA's staff were involved in the 7th October attacks. So check whether your country also cut funding to UNRWA and if they did - get furious, protest, call your reps, etc.
Seriously, think about this for just a second: A LITERAL DAY after the ICJ ordered that Israel must let more humanitarian aid into Gaza, most western countries cut off aid to the organisation delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. Because of unverified claims by Israel, all of these governments are willing to cut off funding of help to all Palestinians in Gaza immediately (which is also a war crime by the way - Collective Punishment - all of our governments are now literally commiting a war crime themselves), but a genocide accusation against Israel that the ICJ has accepted and deemed "plausible" isn't enough to stop those countries from still delivering weapons to Israel. HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT? Israel can just claim something and all of these governments will act and even go against the ICJ's orders to help them kill more Palestinians, but the ICJ's orders themselves aren't enough to make any government stop helping to kill Palestinians.
When you all call & write to your reps, mention this! Demand that your governments resume funding UNRWA and mention the ICJ's ruling (in particular the provision to let more humanitarian aid into Gaza) to back up why!
And also:
Tumblr media
Yeah, what she^ said. This is 100% Israel's revenge for their defeat in court.
(Does anyone know whether them doubling down harder now and asking other countries to cut off funding for humantarian aid can at least be used as more evidence by South Africa in the genocide case now? If the ICJ finds in a month that Israel hasn't done enough to abide by their orders, will there be any consequences? Can they issue another preliminary ruling?)

Washington Post plans hit piece over EI's accurate reporting about 7 October
I have to share this (and this again) as Israel's defence at the ICJ today parrots blatantly the numerous times debunked Israeli propaganda fallacies about Oct 7.
