chapter 4: studying... or not really

The semester carries on. So it goes, even with a good looking-neighbour. Sometimes as you take the elevator down to check on your mailbox, you catch Taesan and Leehan together with the occasional Jaehyun. Often they are huddled outside a little seating area outside your complex, munching on convenience store food as Jaehyun yaps away about his life at business school. Leehan seems to be attentive while Taesan decides the side of his kimbap packaging is more interesting than Jaehyun’s incompetent lecturer. 

One particular night, Leehan catches your eye as you come out of the elevator. He waves a little in your direction before listening in again in the conversation with Taesan and Riwoo this time, a rare occurrence since Riwoo practically lives at the university with his dance practices and club activities. You walk back to the elevator after gathering some letters, but Taesan and Riwoo catch your eye and each suggestively wiggle your eyebrows while Taesan darts his eyes at Leehan throwing his rubbish in the bin a few steps away. You were flabbergasted to say the least, wondering how long they could keep up with their antics. Before you could flip them off, Leehan turns around and comes back to sit with the other two, and Riwoo and Taesan continue chatting like nothing happened. 

Them and their little group, despite all their different majors, you often catch them studying in the same nature too. Sometimes they choose break out spaces with couches to study, sometimes they decide on a big meeting table in a silent area in the times they decide to be studious. You found yourself in one of the said meeting tables with Sungho and Taesan on the other end of the table since your presentation board frankly took up too much space on one end. As you work on your board, you catch these two with shit-eating grins, only to widen as you give them a questioning look, Sungho even having the audacity to wink obnoxiously at you as he tries not to burst out laughing. 

A few minutes later, you realise why they’d been so smug. The door to the silent study area opens gently along with the waft of a familiar perfume. Sungho looks up and mouths a ‘hi’ to Leehan who had just walked through the door, Taesan gestures to the chair in between you and himself for Leehan to sit down on. The grip on your pencil tightens slightly along with a hitch of your breath before you hear your heart thumping in your stomach. Leehan smiles all friendly towards you and you smile back with a nod before knocking your headphones back over your ears and continuing to work, blasting the music to distract you.

You can feel Taesan’s eyes burning into your skull but you couldn’t afford for Leehan to see the blush rapidly forming on your face. You only dare to look up at your work when Leehan gets up for either a bathroom break or to print some of his work. Sungho’s eyes always seem to yell ‘Why are you so quiet, huh?’ and Taesan’s shit-eating grin never needs any elaboration. 

Because of that fateful day, Taesan and Sungho find you in the same spot every Wednesday afternoon, Leehan in tow behind them or coming a few minutes later. On this particular day, you swear you were about to curse Taesan and Sungho out for the rest of eternity.

Almost as immediately as Leehan had arrived at your usual desk, Taesan and Sungho stood, but made no move to clear their study areas. Sungho whispers to Leehan as to not distract anyone else, and you swear you see Leehan’s eyes widen in realisation before whipping his head to Taesan, and the two promptly leave the room. Amidst this whole interaction, you caught on quickly. Leehan, in his shock, looks at you as you simply shrug. The boy next to you reluctantly looks back at his laptop before going back to work.

The next day, you catch Sungho at the student cafe. You approach him with an unimpressed face and he looks confused, then catches on right away trying not to burst out into giggles.

“So…” You start. 

“So… how was your little alone time with Mr Corydora yesterday?”

You scoff at Sungho’s joke, “Haha, very funny. A horrible stunt you and Taesan pulled yesterday, by the way.”

“What do you mean?” Sungho feigns innocence as he shoves his hands into his jacket, “Taesan and I just had to a take a little break, what about it?”

You groan as he laughs. “You made it out alive! It’s fine!”. You groan again as you remember what had happened yesterday.

As the two boys left, it left you and Leehan alone. To say the vibe was awkward was an understatement. 

You hear Leehan mutter something under his breath, but when you look up he’s just promptly staring and typing into his laptop.

“Oh, did you say something Leehan?” You say. Leehan darts his head to you to the point where you worry for his neck tendons. Now you realise, there’s never really a time where he hasn’t looked at you without giving himself whiplash.

“Oh! N-no, nothing. Don’t worry about it," He coughs awkwardly, "hey, uh… so what’re you… what are you working on?” Smooth Leehan, he curses to himself.

You chatter about your sketches for your submissions and the difference in each of them, trying to simplify your work and not be too technical. Leehan nods along to your explanations as he looks intently into your work. It endeared you, to be honest, he looked genuinely intrigued by your work and even more intrigued when you mentioned you had to make a model out of it by the end of the semester as well. 

“What about you?“ you ask in turn, “what’re you working on?”. His smile turns sad as he turns to his laptop. “Just some memorisation on different types of viruses and formation of ecosystems. I have a lab tomorrow so I’m hoping some readings and videos might help.”

You see a notebook near his laptop and you glance at his notes, surprised by the neatness of his handwriting and various diagrams scattered across the pages. He seems to notice you looking over as he continues,

“Then after all of this, my mid-semester is submission-based, which to be honest isn’t my strong suit. I prefer tests and exams any day.” He sighs again as you hum in acknowledgment. 

“Well, you know, if you need any help, I don’t mind helping. My degree is pretty much submission and writing based too.” You offer as you gesture to your sketches.

His face brightens at your words, much like a puppy who’s about to be fed their first meal of the day. Suddenly, his eyes drag behind you and he blushed furiously whilst gritting his teeth. Out of curiosity, you turn around to face the glass walls and catch a glimpse of Taesan and Sungho leaning against the railings across the closed off study area. You catch Sungho’s eye as he feigns innocence with a wave and a disgustingly teasing wink, though you were unsure if it was for you or the boy beside you. Taesan almost creepily mirrors his movements beside him.

You groan internally as you turn back to your work, deciding to just ignore them. It was Leehan’s turn to shrug your way, not without ears as red as a Bloody Mary.

“Sungho, don’t think you were slick with that one. You should’ve seen Leehan when you—“

“When I looked at you and you knew at that moment I figured you out?”

“Yes! Wait, wha— wait no! That’s not what I meant—“

Sungho guffaws almost a little too loud as the other students waiting for their drinks steal glances towards where you and Sungho stood.

“So you admit to it?”

“No! Oh my gosh, you’re impossible,” you wonder what you did in your past life that made you end up being Sungho’s ultimate victim. “you are reading into this too much, stop trying to imagine things in your head that will never happen, it’s like you’re in a fanfiction or something. Geez…” you trail off.

Sungho does nothing but stick his tongue out like a child, before going up to the counter to pick up his drink. 

“Oh hi.” A familiar voice comes from your left and you turn. Before you greet the voice back, Sungho beats you to it.

“Oi Leehan! Hi!”

“Hello, Sungho. Where’s mine, huh?” Leehan gestures to the cup in Sungho’s hands, jokingly.

There’s a glint of humour in Sungho’s eyes. “Lucky day, my man, this one is actually for you!” Sungho shoves the cup his direction and Leehan has no choice but to grip the cup to avoid spilling it onto you. Leehan looks at the writing on the lid and frowns,

“But you know I don’t li—“

“It’s. For. You,” Sungho smiles a bit too innocently as he shrugs his shoulder bag properly. “I gotta meet someone! I’m gonna be late. I’ll see you guys later, yeah? Bye!” and Sungho walks with a spring in his step despite his brisk movements.

You cough awkwardly, as you stare off at Sungho’s form getting smaller the further he walks. Leehan is awkwardly gripping the cup next to you.

“So…”

“So… any chance you like an oat milk chai?” Leehan’s hand extends to yours. The familiar drink order sounds strange coming from Leehan’s mouth, you don’t ever recall telling him your cafe order. Unless—

“Oh, that prick,” You mutter under your breath. Leehan tilts his head at you confusingly. “Sorry, I didn’t catch tha—“

“Nothing! It’s nothing. I’ll have it though, thank you.” You reach out for the cup, not without the tips of both of your fingers brushing against each other’s as light as humanly possible. You swear you see the boy’s ears turn red. Surely he knows too…

“Uh, so. You have class now?” He asks. You answer ‘mhm’ as you take a sip of the drink. “Ah, I’ll walk you to your class if you’d like.”

Had you not already swallowed the sip, you definitely would’ve spat it out at the boys’s question. Instead, you ceremoniously almost dangerously choke on your saliva.

“Are you sure? I don’t want to hold you up or anythi—“

“Don’t worry, I just had my last class and I got time to kill anyway.” Leehan smiles at you with an odd determination (friendliness?) in his eyes. It makes you want to smile at him too, so you do. You murmur an ‘alright’ as you lead the way.

You couldn’t tell if it was purposeful or not, but as you and Leehan walked, despite the very wide path across campus, Leehan’s shoulder occasionally brushed yours as he asked about your day. It felt funny, a little dooming if you were to be honest, that a very pretty boy would want to be in such vicinity with you, let alone walk you to class during a time where you often dread to just be home in bed.

Realistically, the walk from the cafe was only five minutes. But with Leehan it felt like it was too short.

“Mid-sems going okay?” Leehan asks after a few beats of silence.

“It’s been alright,” you say with a subconscious sad smile, “It’s been hard to focus since everything is going on at the same time. I haven’t had a lot of chances for breaks of anything of the sort.” You turn your head to Leehan, and his eyes are filled with nothing but sympathy.

“Well, just another week of submissions to go ‘til the study break. You’ll make it through!” Leehan says enthusiastically, bringing a smile to your face.

“You too, of course. But how’d you know that?” You ask him, face beginning to burn not because of the warm drink in your hand.

“Of course I know. You’ve worked so hard there’s no chance you won’t do amazingly.” He smiles at you, genuine and all. You feel flustered at his words, and it seems like he feels the same as Leehan turns his head away with a shy smile. 

You mutter a thank you and Leehan hums quietly in response. You feel his arm linger a little longer against your arm before he pulls away, but you didn’t feel averted to it at all. You were almost disappointed when you no longer felt the contact.

It isn’t until you get inside class after bidding Leehan goodbye that you realise your face was incredibly hot and the adrenaline pumping through you, despite the lack of caffeine in your chai latte.

Regardless, I’ve been reading your fics on Ao3 and I absolutely LOVE the banter between gojo and reader 😭 it flows so fucking well I can feel the chemistry radiating from my screen. When I first started reading IHM, I was also an ancient hag like reader (29) so I found myself able to really relate to her. Usually when I envision Y/N, it’s a random person in their place but with this fic specifically idk why I lowkey insert myself? Everything she does, I would probably do the same and it makes me nervous (in a good way) that I’m gonna get attached to gojo and y/n’s relationship 😭

I absolutely love how gojo provides the security Y/N so desperately needs in the span of the fic. She has been suffocating on her own for so long that he just provides some fresh air. Dare I say meant to be?

The domesticity is everything and I like how we’re learning more about him alongside Y/N. So far we’ve seen just how supportive gojo has been and I’m excited to see how y/n comes through for him because my spidey senses (and your amazing writing) shows me that he has some baggage and it might resurface soon.

“Lando had skipped her bath entirely and put her straight to bed, stroking his finger from her forehead to the tip of her nose until her stubborn pout had melted reluctantly into soft sleep.” Sobbing. The softness. I literally had to put my phone down for a sec bc I was just overwhelmed by how soft this is. I love how gentle he is with her.

Also I love how you made their early relationship make sense with the whole routine thing. It was never an option for him before bc no one could fit into that routine but when the right person came along (Oscar) he fit in so easily Lando hadn’t even noticed until Oscar had already become a natural part of the routine. Honestly loved that bc it made the future relationship make sense. It wasn’t just an all of a sudden changing of his mind for the sake of the story, it was a natural progression that just sort of fell into place. So fabulous job on that.

Truly fascinating how finding the right person can make you want to ignore your own rules. Like it’s clear he is scared and nervous and doing everything in his power to just ignore his feelings because he SHOULDNT get attached, he shouldn’t be giving into these feelings but he’s also LETTING himself feel them. Bc yeah he probably shouldn’t but he WANTS too. And it’s so easy. It doesn’t feel like effort or like he’s going against rules he put in place bc it feels NORMAL already. Wild. Wild stuff, I should not be this invested in a fic oml

Anyway, Ik you don’t love this chapter, and I won’t try to change your mind about it but I hope you can feel good knowing your readers are finding it so exciting. (I’ve seen the comments on the new chapter the people ARE excited)

listen... if there's one thing about me it's that i kNOW how it feels to have a long-distance crush you are trying not to get attached to while at the same time failing to deter in any meaningful way.... at least i'm putting it to good use....

anyway!!! excited to report that lando never gets any less soft with emma and that actually there's a higher frequency of moments like that as the chapters progress. like that's his baby. that's everyone's baby. my FAVORITE part of writing this fic was writing moments where people are soft with emma, so i'm glad you're enjoying them too.

lando has a complex inner world... he has many thoughts, many feelings. not going to expand TOO thoroughly on those middle bits from you, but ch 3 is for sure a brick-laying/groundwork chapter for this fic in general. the themes continue to theme.

posting chapter three has actually made me feel soooooo much better about it AND about the rest of the fic in general. now that i've got the part i was most anxious about out of the way, i cannot wait to share the rest of it - all my FAVORITE parts - with you all who've stuck it out so far.

a/n: I AM SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG 😭😭😭 it’s been sitting in my inbox forever i know and i apologize but i hope this is good, and you can absolutely be 🍁 anon if you still want :)

you were currently wrapped up in blankets, there was probably about 5 layers on top of you right now. however, you were still shivering. your fever was higher than any other fever you’ve had before. everything felt fuzzy right now— your mind was off in its own world while your body was desperately trying to fight off an illness. what a lovely way to spend your break.

the sound of a door opening brought you slightly back down to reality. your eyes flicked towards the door, relieved to see kaeya walking in with a bowl in his hand. the aroma of chicken noodle soup quickly filled the room.

as you went to sit up so that you could eat, your arms gave out on you. this fever had caused you to be so weak to the point you could barely even sit up. kaeya quickly sat down the soup when he noticed the struggles, helping you sit up right in bed. once you were finally steady, he handed you the soup with a metal spoon.

“are you feeling any better?” kaeya asked as he sat down next to you on the bed. you could see him looking at you out of the corner of your eye as you ate.

“no,” you mumbled, taking a spoonful of soup and putting it into your mouth. a small hiss left your lips at the hot liquid inside your mouth.

kaeya’s heart ached at seeing the current state you were in. although you were under five blankets and wearing his hoodie you were still shaking like a leaf. the only thing your body could keep down right now was the chicken noodle soup, but even that was a hit or miss. your eyes were dark and sunken in, probably from the restless nights you’ve had. he wished he could’ve done something sooner and prevented you from getting to this point.

within a few minutes your stomach quickly got full, unable to eat anything more. you set the soup onto your nightstand and crawled back under the covers. this time kaeya laid down with you too, hoping that his body heat might help warm you up a little bit more.

“you’re gonna get sick—“ you protested, looking up at kaeya as he pulled you closer towards him.

“stop worrying about me, i’ll be fine,” he spoke softly, kissing the top of your head.

you tried to protest against it once again but he shushed you.

“you need to start taking better care of yourself,” kaeya began, a sigh falling from his lips. “you worry about everybody else to the point that you hardly focus on yourself. you didn’t even notice you were sick until you could barely even function because you weren’t focusing on you. i’m not mad at you for this, because i can get the same way sometimes. i’m just worried about you.”

you fell silent, his words echoing through your head. kaeya was right. you don’t tend to your own needs anymore, all of your focus is on the ones around you. sadly most of them don’t even notice this. kaeya is the only one who has picked up on this almost destructive habit of yours. you ignored all of your symptoms of the illness until your body was overwhelmed from the virus, waking up in a condition that almost landed you in the hospital.

“i’m sorry,” you spoke quietly, afraid to speak up any louder. if you did speak any louder you feared the tears would start flowing.

“you don’t have anything to be sorry about love,” kaeya reached down and tilted your chin up so that you could look at him. his thumb gently brushed over your cheekbone, wiping away tears that already began falling. you weren’t quite sure why you were so emotional— whether it was because you finally had somebody who actually cared or the fact that you’re so exhausted from being sick that your body reverted to crying. whatever the cause was it just felt nice to have kaeya hold you.

this time, you didn’t protest when you felt kaeya pull you flush against his body, his grip tightening on you. you laid there, head buried into his chest as his fingers trailed up and down your spine.

“i love you,” kaeya whispered as he nuzzled his head into the crook of your neck, placing gentle kisses.

“i love you more,” you whispered back, lips curving upwards slightly. for a split second all of this affection made you forget about the misery. you placed a small kiss to his chest in return. oh, how desperately you both just wanted to kiss each other’s lips but you knew it’d be too risky. you’d truly feel horrible if you got kaeya sick.

the rest of the day you two stayed in this position— kaeya holding you close as you rested your head against him. you faded in and out of consciousness once in awhile, you were trying to resist the exhaustion but it was getting too hard to fight off.

the last thing you remember is looking up at kaeya, who was scrolling through his phone while the tv played in the background. his thumbs rhythmically rubbing circles into your side. something about that moment just felt so domestic, even though it was a simple moment it still made you feel all warm and fuzzy… but that might’ve also been the fever trying to break.

as you finally drifted off to sleep you made a small silent promise to kaeya— you’d start taking better care of yourself as soon as you got over this sickness.

Sorry this is so long! My theories are more like opinions atm because there has only been one part LOL. However, considering there are 6 guys and 6 descriptions, but only five husbands, that means one guy is two of the descriptions or she doesn’t marry one of the guys with a description. I’m not sure of which yet but I’m leaning towards the former atm. If one guy is two descriptions, that one guy is her true love plus another description. OR it’s the guy who dies and another description 💀.

So this is my thought process with knowing that One is rich and dangerous. One is obsessive. One dies. Ones a co-star. And one is her true love.

And The old friend is armin.

The musician. I think it’s eren and it’s kinda self explanatory. I can cross out the obsessive one, the costar, and while he’s rich and dangerous I don’t know if it’s him considering one part is called the rich one. So that leaves the dead one, and her true love which doesn’t make sense together. But there is also the possibility she never Married eren. Also Eren dies so many times in the show I wouldn’t be surprised if he died in this. (Idk how he’d die tho)

The star and the manager. This seems to be two people, and if eren dies it would make sense that levi would take over as her manager. Maybe he signs her up for film? And that’s how she meets her costar. It’s really hard to say who this is but I think it’s connie. I don’t see him being really dangerous or obsessive and I think he’d be a really great actor in like romcoms. (Maybe Levi’s the one she never married and she just has a found with him 👀)

The rich one. This one is hard because I can see Reiner and Jean being either of the next two, but I think Reiner might me this one. Idk why he just seems like he’d be more dangerous of the two.

The obsessive one. I could totally see Jean being the obsessive one. Especially if eren lives or doesn’t. jean would get so jealous of eren. I don’t really have a lot of info to go off off since only one part is up but it’d seems like it would fit.

True love. I honestly don’t know yet but I love stories like these because even if I like one or two guys the most and root for them until the end, I honestly don’t care who ends up being the persons love. However, based on the information I have now I think it could be eren or levi.

i have more thoughts, and more thoughts on why i think it could be Eren or Levi but honestly I'm probably gonna think its everyone of them each chapter because your writing is so good!!!I also don't want to bombarde your inbox ehehe.

Lmao, I’m doing this after crying

So I just read a long post about how people have treated Jimin (BTS) and honestly it makes me sick. I’ll admit, I’m not a Jimin stan, he’s not my bias, but he is someone I adore. I’ve only started listening to Kpop last year but I’ve read and heard a lot about what he’s been through. It’s sickening to know that he starved himself because people have mentioned that he needed to lose weight, or have critisized little details about his physical features which have probably made him insecure. There’s also a post that talks about how he likes attention a lot and they’re worried that he’s some psychopath or something. I know a lot of affectionate people, my best friend is one of them, but i dont think she’s a psychopath. If Jimin likes attention, let him get that attention. It makes him happy, he always smiles the brightest and hugging his teammates. And the ships are absolute bullshit. Yes I have my fun in them, yes I do ship Taekook, Namjin, and Yoonmin, but I also have a fucking brain that tells me those ships or most likely never becoming real. And that’s perfectly ok. Some of you take the shipping way too far and THAT is worrying. Personally, I dont ship Jikook, it’s just a me thing. If a post pops up on my twitter or my Tumblr feed, I’ll probably like it, think it’s cute then move along. so honesty hour~ i was scared when Seunghun was joining treasure 5... NOT that i think hes untalented in any way shape or form, but he’s the oldest and it seemed like the group would be seunghun + the kids LMAO 

BUT I WAS SURPRISED (not rly) that he fit so well into Going Crazy ??? Like i was so shook that seunghun could sing any song and totally slay it ,, like wowowow he keeps surpassing my expectations

and the fact that he choreographed the dance breaks ?!?!? like he couldve asked jihoon to help him, but the fact that he carried that on his own is AMAZING ... they truly had the hardest dance to learn and when they made it themselves,, it made everything 10x cooler

ok so as expected, Keita and Seunghun were eliminated which was such a shit move on yg’s part :/ like Keita is the longest running japanese trainee and seunghun is the longest running korean trainee... like wtf

and before i get shit for this, obviously i didnt want any of DNA team to be eliminated (i dont want anyone to be eliminated period),,, but c’mon ,, a 14 year old who has been training for not even a year VS 9 year and 5 year trainees ... ,, i’l admit, i think seunghun deserved that spot, 

and jeongwoo thought so too ,, like the look in jeongwoo’s eyes were not “oh yay i won!!” they were “me park jeongwoo??” kdfjdgkhsfd ,, he looked at seunghun immediately which was so sad cuz these trainees dont even have the time to be happy for themselves cuz they are too busy feeling sad for their friends... ... /sigh/

ok boomerang elimination time freaked me TF out cuz jihoon is my bias of like the entire show and ;-;;;;;;;;; jihoon ;-;;;;;; like obviously hyunsuk was expected, but i was thinking yoshinori or jihoon? really dont know with yg :/  

bUT IM SO HAPPY JIHOON MADE IT AJFKDFJSKGJ  like yes i love Yoshinori but ugh my heart hurts for jihoon .. he’s been through so much ... (but later i felt better keke)

and after those eliminations were over,,, like hyunsuk’s crying really got to me... he was crying ever since seunghun was eliminated and we all know hyunsuk cannot hide his emotions for shit so he was covering his ears during DNA eliminations and he apologized multiple times to the boomerang team and looked SO guilty... my heart ached hearing his sobs... they sounded so child-like and pitiful. it really put things into perspective ;-; 

before this, i was unsure if hyunsuk was fit to be a leader, not cuz he cant lead, but cuz he’s so emotional ... but after boomerang team, i think he really can lead Team A if/when they debut... like wow he was a really amazing leader and sometimes showing/feeling emotion can be good as a role model ... but ofc all team a members are amazing leaders LOL (also jihoon aka leader of team b)

ok i already said my peace abt growl so yeet ,,, was expected and i heard spoilers... /sigh/

and ok ok ,,, so i truly think Dumb and Dumber deserved to win,, but all the groups did so well ! i enjoyed all of them except growl tbh (maybe cuz that song has been covered so many times and im lowkey sick of it sdlkjfhdsjgs) but !! they all worked so hard :’(

PLUS Hyunsuk looked so happy and i know that happiness was directed at Seunghun too, but Yoshinori was also on his team which probs made him feel so much happier !! 

****** Another side note: Seunghun is LITERALLY SO UNLUCKY & HAS IT SO BAD ... like first, he lost against Mashiho when he was chosen by the 100 treasure makers (mashi was chosen by yg). then he won against yoonbin and yeongue, but was called out by everyone by being a popularity contest (which no one is complaining about now even tho these performances were all chosen by the fans ahah funny weird lmao ahah more sarcasm) + YG didnt even compliment him and/or Byounggon ?? :///  

AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT, he gets chosen to be in the Treasure 5, which i was initially SO excited for, but then D&D wins over the Treasures, leaving seunghun to be eliminated...he can never truly win ... + the only time he got complimented was right before he was eliminated, so waht the fuck...
