In retribution for my sins I shall share my hcs/what will be present in my comics whenever I decide to post them/finish them (its been like 3 days i cant stop drawing sans aus)

Btw I cant decide if I want to go with the more canon Nightmare approach (which im still learning about, no one ever talked about it back when I was first in the fandom), or Dadmare (i find it sweet, however impractical it actually is for his character)

CORE Frisk is the absolute bane of Nightmare's existance, they've stopped him dead in his tracks countless times now

Ink is technically a neutral party, he only really sides with the stars because he thinks their company is fun, and because Nightmare is posing a huge threat to countless AUS

In that same chain, Error is technically a neutral psrty, mostly because he just doesnt freaking like Nightmare, he finds his bossiness annoying. And Dream's incessant positivity endlessly aggrivating. Plus Nightmare fights Blue. Blue is Error's pookie. (Is that still canon?? Dawg its been years idfk)

The only one who knows that Ink is soulless is Error (bc of his strings). No one else can get enough consistent hits on him during battles for anyone to be able to clearly tell

Reaper is genuinely disgusted by the path Nightmare went down, whereas Nightmare is a Guardian and very powerful as such; Reaper is still the god of death across the omniverse (is that still a term we use yall???) and therefore in a power structure is above him and Dream. Reaper had hoped it wouldnt turn out the way it did.

Horror didnt know what refeeding syndrome was when he first began working for Nightmare, so upon being given the option to actually eat.. he got insanely sick and was immediately rendered unable to fight for weeks.

Dust cannot stand loud noise, he was alone in his empty AU for so long when he was that silence isnt in any way comforting; its just easier to deal with than noise. (Do we still call him dust?? Or do we call him Murder?? Ive seen people use both, im partial to Dust but idfk- dawg i was back here when gacha club hadnt even come out yet)

Something I’ve been thinking about ever since I watched the crossover episode is the entire scene with the pneumothorax that Kidd had to call Asher for help with. He had to give her step by step instructions on where to insert the needle, which I found odd because in a previous season (maybe 7?) when the firehouse is taken hostage, Stella seems perfectly capable and confident to do the procedure on one of the hostage takers. It strikes me as odd that she totally forgot how to do that in the span of 6 season, and it seems to be canon in the show (not sure if this is how it works irl) that pneumothorax’s are something paramedics are trained on how to do. Did the writers just forget about that episode entirely? Saw you wanted to talk about Chicago fire and decided to send my ramblings, you’re one of my favourite pages!

first of all THANK YOU for that last part you’re so sweet🥹sometimes i feel like im speaking to like 3 people- which is totally fine because this is just a place for me to yap about stellaride- but still it’s very validating to hear people actually enjoy my silly little blog and i love this bubble of the fandom

but ANYWAY that’s a good point i haven’t rewatched 5x16 in a hot second and i forgot stella was originally gonna treat the pneumothorax. and honestly i forgot about the pneumothorax she had to treat in the crossover too. i feel like the rational explanation is just that she hasn’t done it in a long time? because she never actually did it in 5x16, and even prior to that who knows how long it had been since she’d done it because she’d been a firefighter for a few years even at that point. it’s probably one of those things that even if you know how to do it, you still don’t trust your own skills enough to do it without guidance. especially with the amount of added stress she was under in the crossover in general. they reference her medic experience in the crossover so i would assume it’s not just a continuity error but🤷‍♀️

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

The Empire of the Sun, it was a big project of mine, one i really liked! it was a jegulus dystopian au, I had the whole idea drafted but I've seen how people treat fics and authors in this fandom, specifically with this pairing and that kinda made me. not want to continue writing it, honestly. Also it's a big ass fic so, I don't think I'll ever finish it anyway.

What are your writing strengths?

I think maybe inner dialogue, I like to ramble a lot inside my little puppet's head so, probably that. I'm kind of an oblivious self-deprecating author so I'm very Unaware of these things.

What are your writing weaknesses?

A year ago I would've said my inability to finish anything but that's not true anymore so, probably the lack of flexibility, sometimes i want something to make sense and i research and I spiral that something is not quite right when in reality this is fucking fiction and i need to calm down and remember is not that serious!! (also long ass sentences like this one... not even a comma im Insane)

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

All in, I even have dialogue in french and spanish in my fics so. I particularly appreciate it when the author leaves the translation in the notes so i know what they're talking about hehe

sorry if this is a weird ask but im in my feelings and i need to say this to someone and idk who else lol. do you ever think about how amazing the fact that yax even exist is??? like it's a crossover ship who might have never existed if it wasn't for one person and yet!!! it exists!!! and its perfect!!! and it started off as a silly little thing yet there are so many beautiful fanarts about them. not to talk about the fanfictions!!! it's june 2024 and we still have super cute fanarts and amazing fanfiction updating weekly like the soulmates au or strawberry moon like their impact??? its kinda mind blowing if you think abt it. im just a fan but im so grateful to all the creators like you who have or are still creating for the ship and have played a part in turning others into fans

This kind of lovely positivity is so uplifting. YES. I think about it so often. It was a perfect storm and it STILL captivates new people. I just had someone today send me an ask saying they stumbled on my a03 and got into yax, and the fact that people are still creating for it so so much even now, I'm so thankful for it. I'm thankful for cryptidmoone for inventing it, for pickleraye for popularizing it, for sokkas-first-fangirl for writing the fic that cemented by love for it. and so, SO many others. I run an animaniacs server and i get to talk to people about yax all the time and i'm met with love and enthusiasm from people who care about them in the same way I do. I truly feel so lucky to have come into a fandom with a ship that hits every chord for me, and with such kind people who continue to love it as I do. And you say you're "just a fan", but you're important too! And I am thankful to people like you as well! Were it not for the fans of the ship to share in the positivity, I don't think it would thrive as much as it has in the past. i really want to get into the... life series i think it's called? or hermitcraft? (tumblr confused me a lot on the names) your art makes it seem very interesting and i've heard so many cool things and seen so many cool fanarts, but im not sure where to start since it seems to be a long series!

it usually helps me a lot when i get some sort of description of the characters in the series to know which ones i should look into to know where to start... so i was wondering if you could ramble a bit about any characters you want from the series!!! i have a big curiosity on grian, they seem very cool !

-Life Series has 4 (soon to be 5) seasons: 3rd Life [3L], Last Life [LL], Double Life [DL], Limited Life [LimL]. TLDR goal is to outlive everyone else and be the last person standing.

-Hermitcraft has 9 seasons. You do NOT need to watch every season in chronological order, they all exist as their separate thing.

Hermitcraft doesn't have ' set lore ' either hermits go on there for different reasons do different stuff and stories sprout off of that just *happen* momentarily.

I think watching the Life Series first BEFORE Hermitcraft is a good starting point bc there's less people to keep track of and improv plot happens, making it easier to pick out the faves you like and wish to continue watching on HC. Majority of the ppl in Life Series are on Hermitcraft while others are in Empires. Similar vibe of smp more lore and rules with governing different empires if you like that stuff :] there was also a crossover arc between Empires s2 and Hermitcraft S9 last year which was awesome.

As for Hermitcraft itself bwaaaa, pick any season (personal favourite is Season 7) - ppl rly like Seasons 7 8 and 9 but that's probably cuz they're newer. Current POVs in season 9 I watch: Bdubs, Etho, Scar, Grian, Tango, Beef - occasionally Impulse, Pearl, Zedaph

I did a similar ask on recommended Life Series POVs for each season HERE. Just know that the LAST LIFE ETHO/BDUBS POV compulsory event you MUST watch that at least once.

random Life Series thoughts:

Grian isn't as serious and calculative as he's popularly depicted as in fanon, he has lots of fun always he silly :]! And I think the reason just comes from his competitive approach to each season and his relationships. He treats it as it is: a game and trying to place him in an rp/lore setting makes him come off as such. In reality he's easily tunnel visioned by The Bit (things like gimmick kills, one-off plans) and trying to win and that's completely fine.

That being said I do not believe desertduo (Grian/Scar) are opposites of eachother, they have much in common and just because they are doesn't make their chemistry any less valuable. If you want to talk about opposites SCAB (Scar/Etho) is the way to go. Very apparent in 3L and especially LL: Magic vs Science, Fire vs Ice, wildcards. Scar the lover who tries to be a survivor, Etho the survivor who tries to be a lover. Their tension bleeds into Hermitcraft (see S7) as well and I wish people realised how awesome scab just is guys scab is so awesome u_u

From the architecture down to their fates, Bdubs' builds are the embodiment of his love for the people he aligns himself to each season, there's a reason why he'd rather risk his entire being to protecting places so sacred and I think about that loads. whwhwh I'd talk about it/analyse each build individually because he is my favouriteee but I am shy u///u....

but regardless this ship is totally my Slice Of Life Comedy Hour Chill LoFi Beats type of ship HKF like im a sucker for darker stuff higher stakes but i think this one has 0 stakes

i feel like animaticlock is dying or som???

it doesn't hzve a lot of content for it/about it anymore

i feel like this is due to people just getting tired of the ship of hyperfixating on different things, like im obsessed with gravity falls rn. But I still somewhat like animaticlock?

idk it just doesn't make me as happy as it used to..

and it's rlly a shame cause i like both shows but im really just getting tired of it

It's been frustrating me a little bit because I still very much have a hyperfixation on the ship and it's been becoming increasingly harder to find new content of it 😭

Ofc, people can move on from Animaticlock if they want, it's their accounts and they can do whatever makes them happy but MAN I'm starving out here ×_×

I've also noticed that whenever people do post stuff for the ship now, it gets significantly less attention than it did back in June.

I calculated some statistics to see what the average number of notes for posts under the Animaticlock tag during this month so far are compared to the first 12 days of June:

Average for August: 14 notes

Number of August posts: 17

Average for June: 92 notes

Number of June posts: 18

Surprisingly the number of posts in the first 12 days of these two months were about the same, but as I suspected, the attention these posts received significantly declined. Keep in mind that these time periods are only 2 months apart from one another!

Aninaticlock is absolutely on a decline right now, which sucks for everyone who's still hooked on the ship but I think we should've seen this coming:

I agree with you, I think people are getting tired of it, and I think I might know the reason why. Animaticlock is a crosship, and thing with crosships is that they, in almost all circumstances, NEVER get any sort of canon interactions. While we did get two crossover videos involving the actual voice actors, this videos aren't canonical. While some people can will through that and stay fully invested in a ship like that, a lot of people can't. A lot of people need at least some sort of canon interaction to keep them excited in the ship because it makes it way easier to see exactly what their dynamic is like.

Animaticlock is special in the way that it managed to become a popular ship at all despite this. However, it was still unlikely that most shippers would continue to be as into the ship as they were when they first got hooked on it because of what I explained about crosships earlier (plus other reasons like getting new interests/hyperfixations that pull them away from it), so it was nearly guaranteed to have a decline, and that's exactly what's happening right now.

I'll still continue to make more Animaticlock stuff despite this tho, dw lol I'm not done with the ship yet

Best comics by publisher:

I am bored and autistic and gay and so I've compiled an objectively subjective list of the 'best' books from each publisher. You're welcome, America.

IDW-honestly the current Star Trek run is phenomenal and we all love TMNT but I gotta give it to Atomic Robo.

Scout-Metal Shark Bro is so good that it honestly skewed my expectations for the entire publisher. They truthfully have two solid lines and the rest is an odd marketing campaign. The Black Caravan stuff was fun, though.

Boom!-SIKTC is undeniably amazing and 'We Only Find Them When They're Dead' is objectively top tier but for me, it's all about Coda. The art, the writing, the straight dude getting dunked on by his orc paladin wife-perfection. The first issue of the continuation just dropped and reading it was like returning home.

Ahoy!-Penultiman is pretty good but I think 'The Wrong Earth' is clearly their best title.

Valiant-hear me out, hear me out. I've collected ALL of Valiant's reboot, 2012-present. Unfortunately I must report that peak Valiant is X-O Manowar: Retribution. 1993 was a good year for whacky sci-fi comics. There is a scene wherein Aric of Darcia proclaims:"he must be like those men who prefer other men. I do not understand these men; but damn, do they make the best wizards!" That's peak fiction.

Dark Horse-look Hellboy is great. It's so good that I almost gave it to Mike Mignolia just on merit and industry influence alone. Unfortunately, Jeff Lemire exists. Black Hammer is perfect in every way. MIND MGMT was a strong second.

Image-Astro City. The characters are deep, emotional beings. Their stories breathe in the most human way. Most other titles conflate grit with maturity while AC makes you feel without several arcs of trauma porn. Also, im happy to see creators who remember that comic books are the home of wackiness. Its a slice of life hero series-10/10. Also Alex Ross. This (image) was annoying to choose because-despite suffering the unforgivable scourge of Robert Kirkman- Image has so many other good titles. Bitch Planet, Savage Dragon and Spawn (obligatory, obvi), Rumble, Chew, Outer Darkness, Descender/Ascender, etc .. not to mention Radiant Black. I still want to give it to Saga. Due to all the confusion with inage/wildstorm/dc having some claim to Astro City I almost skipped it entirely which is a shame but, yeah-Astro City.

TKO Studios-honestly, I'm not sure that this company is still kickin'. They were a fun little experiment though, with several enjoyable titles. I can't say any of them really blew me away. But, if I had to pick a 'best' I'd give it to 'Sentient'. Jeff Lemire can do no wrong.

AWA-they're too new for a selection to have any real meaning but 'The Resistance' is pretty good. It's been a couple years and I hope they produce something else that's quality because E-Ratic was a pretty big let down.

D.C.-Crisis on Infinite Earths. It's a given. There is something to be said about the cultural impact of Crisis. Originally, 'crisis' stories were crossovers of varying stakes. The comic gods(Perez and Wolfman) changed the game with this one. Also,every Crisis story which follows was similarly silly and serious. The pseudo science wackiness and over the top theatrics gets me every time. No other comic company gets it right. D.C. has been getting progressively better and better these last couple years, especially now with the phenomenal 'Dawn of D.C.' stuff. But if I was stranded on an island and could only bring one D.C. title it would be Crisis. ('83 New Teen Titans is of course a strong second)

Oni Press- their Rick and Morty stuff was a guilty pleasure (because it's really quite good but that means I have to spend money on Rick and Morty) and 'The Sixth Gun' was well made. Regardless, their best title was clearly 'Pink Lemonade'. Its chaotic indie fun that doesn't make sense and doesn't have too.

Massive/Whatnot Inc: these guys are really new, started 2022 I think. Not really sold on them yet but one of their first titles, quested, was lots of fun. Pretty small selection so far but what they do have is quality. 'Best book' goes to Plot Holes. Not only did Sean Murphy give us the most tolerable Bruce Wayne, he also gave us this creative joyride. It's equal parts wacky and sincere and best of all, it's in the Murphy style. Even though its early on in the run it's one of those titles you look forward to. throughout the month.

Marvel-Marvel peaked in 1999 with Earth X. Don't get me wrong, I love a great deal of Marvel books. Al Ewing's Ultimates (NOT Bendis) was great. Personally, my favorite Avengers story was the Celestial Madonna saga of the sixties, but Waid's run was great(obvi) and Hickman's was too. Hickman's Xmen stuff...also happened. Cates and Jason aaron had good Thor runs. The first and last of Aaron's avenger arcs were great. Peter David's many 'Spider' runs were fun and Dan Slott sure does exist. The Sam Wilson cap runs were all phenomenal, especially the Symbol of Truth run-and Kelly Thompson's run on Carol was one of the best ever. Good Marvel books have been dwindling lately but Jed McKay's 'Avengers' is honestly one of the best books out there. Unfortunately, none of that good stuff comes close to Earth X. The prose, the thorough examination of human nature, the Alex Ross of it all. Earth X was an ode to Marvel lore which read better than most of Marvel history. 'Nuff said.
