(Part 2)

It starts simple. Most things with Simon do.

Kyle’s kicked up on the rec room couch, feet propped, a lazy stretch of quiet settling between missions. The telly murmurs in the background, some cooking show rerun neither of them are really watching. The light's low. Warm.

Simon’s beside him. Mask still on. Comfortable. Not relaxed exactly, but Kyle can tell the difference between Ghost and Simon Riley. This is the latter. Simon’s got a little plastic tub of whatever the hell Soap convinced him to try: some kind of pasta bake, picked at and now abandoned on the table. One of those days, then.

Kyle’s got a peeled orange in his hand. Thoughtlessly picking at each segment, fingers a bit sticky, citrus sharp and sweet in the air.

He notices Simon looking, not at him, not really, but at the orange. Long pause. Then his gaze flicks away like it didn’t happen.

Kyle doesn’t say anything. Just pulls off a wedge and, gently, holds it out. His arm rests across the space between them. Simon glances at it, then at him. Silent question.

Kyle just raises an eyebrow, like go on, I don’t bite.

Simon takes it. Bare fingers brush his. The orange disappears beneath the edge of the mask, lifted just enough. A quick bite, then the mask drops back down.

There’s a silence again, but it’s softer now.

So Kyle peels another slice. Then another. Slowly. Piling them up in the crook of his palm. He doesn't rush it. Just... offers one now and then. Sometimes Simon takes them. No words. Just that quiet rhythm of offering and accepting.

Then, somewhere in the middle of it, Simon peels one slice himself. Turns a little. Holds it out to Kyle.

Kyle blinks, but he grins, wide and easy, and takes it between his teeth.

Their fingers brush again. Kyle licks a bit of juice off his lip. “Not bad, yeah?”

Simon huffs, the faintest exhale of a laugh. Then shifts just a little closer.

The telly hums on, forgotten. The oranges are nearly gone. And Kyle thinks, not for the first time, that he’d peel a hundred more if it meant keeping this little corner of peace.

In my brain, Snufkin is really ticklish and sensitive, but most people don't realize because he doesn't let them get physically close enough.

Moomin, on the other hand, used to being around warm and touchy feely people, approaches Snufkin like he would approach his friends or family. On the rare occasion Snufkin lets his guard down, Moomin finds out it's not quite the same sensation... There grows a mysterious craving that forces him to steal all the light touches he can get. But, as if they've just burnt themselves by touching a hot surface, they promptly pull away, and, just as quickly, begins to swell a feeling of cold and itching, of distant lingering.

Like Jason at his worst is a murderous crime lord who also has a moral conscience, protects children and sex workers, works to make the worst parts of Gotham safer and wants to know that his dad cares

Tim at his worst on the other hand.... Rampant murder with NO morals, becomes Batman and uses the gun that killed Bruce's parents, dictator, takes over like half of America, goes back in time like a couple times to tell his younger self that this is their inevitable end just to fuck with HIMSELF

Jason at his best is the happy robin, loves school, cares for sex workers becomes a crime lord to help make sure the people who are addicted aren't being given toxic shit

Tim at his best is entirely unhinged, stalking Batman and Robin through the streets, blackmailing Batman, all the young justice shenanigans, creating a fake uncle to avoid adoption, beefing with a like 9 year old (deserved imo 9 year olds are MEAN), lies to everyone including batman and take pride in it

Like besties one is exponentially more of a black sheep and it isn't the drug lord, it's the heroic sidekick of batman

Yes Jason is still out on the streets wildin and feral but I don't think people give enough credit to how normal he is for his background

Yes Tim is CEO but he's also been 17 for years and probably has taken cocaine to see what it felt like

got absolutely possessed over the past few days, finished planning out the remaining last life designs i had yet to do, and then drew all of them again to make one big lineup with everyone. no one could stop me from making last life a fantasy monster au and so i did it. i love drawing creatures

please note that this follows my own monster au species and rules! some things are things i simply made up (the bug/animal/birdfolk stuff. if youre curious why theyre the way they are, bugfolk are fae relatives, animalfolk are lycanthrope relatives, and. well birdfolk isnt something ive used before. idk what theyre an offshoot of yet) and some are my own (sometimes slightly strange) approach to designing various creatures.
