Image sharing

Mona is a perfect example of my intentions in image sharing. The majority of folks who recognize this image, and it is highly recognized, have never actually seen the painting, in situ. Luckily, I spent a lovely day in the Louvre and had to look, of course. It’s small. Compared to most of the art there, it’s tiny. And here she is in front of you, with a closer look than being there. Why wouldn’t I say, “look what I found.”

Most of us own original comics, in different quantities. While I’ve owned hundreds at one time, I’m down to about a dozen. My Age is Silver but I’ll never own a Golden Age comic, simple economy. Or Bronze, or whatever Age. Not enough cash. I could go to a comic store and look at one in a plastic shield.

I go to Advanced Image Search type in criteria and BAM! A flood of images. Everything. Literally, and in high resolution, for the most part. But they’re there. The resolution of many is surprising, to me, at least. There’s a glorius embarrassment of riches. Tumblr compresses them, losing quality so go to the source.

Work in Progress Wednesday Thursday

I don't remember the last time I was quite this excited about a skin that I'm making. I have no idea if all of this will end up in the final version, but I'm just having so much fun with seeing what I can actually do that I wanted to share some work in progress shots.

(honestly? the hardest part has been finding the images. any tips on where to get medieval illuminated artwork would be much appreciated!)

In the first image, the AO3 title and the lady/dragon are separate images so on a desktop monitor the AO3 part is on the left and the dragon piece is on the right.
