when i had a m&g with jared, my question was about his physical training for supernatural and then he started talking about fitness and his body fat percentage lol and he was saying that fitness is what keeps him sane and health and mental wellness was the most important part of working out. and then he was like "do you feel good?" (referring to my fitness) and i had this moment of panic because i do NOT like to think about that and I was like uh, yeah? lmao

Okay! The long awaited Pearl Outfit Exploration! (Funnily named POEx in my files)

I went with the more known series that Pearl’s a part of i.e Hermitcraft, Life Series and Empires. But of course I also had to add in the two winning MCC Skins! And four more miscellaneous skins that I thought I’d have fun with. But if you want one skin specifically, please feel free to ask with a picture of the skin!

I actually plan to make more full art pieces with the Life Series outfits any maybe some others as well. I already have the Limited Life one planned a bit as well.

personally, between "he was a good kid who went through a lot of traumas and then was murdered and brought back which messed him up even more and he became a killer, but he has his moral code and still cares about people and thinks hes just doing whats necessary"

honestly I must say it, no matter if IMF is fictional or not, we all must keep in mind and remember that all the government agencies are fucked up and bad, and simping for any of them is lowkey a glorified copaganda

especially since IMF is a part of the fucking CIA which is straight up evil and ignoring this in the fandom seems weird to me. I wish people were addressing it more bc it also has a very nice potential for angsty "moral dilemmas" fics and other fan content

idk it feels interesting and heartbreaking for me to think about someone like benji risking his life over and over to save the world while at the same time some other team in the neighboring CIA starts wars in third world countries and kills thousands of civilians

like what lane said in RN about his government making him do it. it IS real and it is what's happening all the time, but no one really touches this subject for some reason while it's important and heavy af (especially in a context of a chauvinistic america-superiority franchise)

sometimes it's just baffling how often ethan can just run away from his literal job to do what he sees best, only to return to his employer who puts him in these situations all the time, and every single time that employer is absolutely fine with ethan going rogue for whatever reasons he might have. in real world ethan would've been killed after the first time he disobeyed IMF and CIA like be real please it's fucking american government we're talking about 😭

I think the thing in m:i3 about Ethan being an instructor was so underused and ultimately just a plot point to get Ethan back into the field. How many trainees did he have? How did he train them? In what? Did he train them generally in a group and then one-on-one if he felt like they needed an extra "push"? What happened to them after Ethan returned back to the field? How many of them have a normal life as if they didn't once in their lifetime were trained by the most famous IMF agent? How many are still in the field? Did anyone else get a recommendation to jump into the field, or was it just Lindsey? I have SO many questions.

Hi, could you explain why the oar quest has an impossibility clause? I'm ignorant and very curious about it

so rather than saying this in my own words, i'll pull [the relevant passage from] tiresias' prophecy from book 11. here's wilson's translation:

[...] When those men are dead, you have to go away and take an oar to people with no knowledge of the sea, who do not salt their food. They never saw a ship’s red prow, nor oars, the wings of boats. I prophesy the signs of things to come. When you meet somebody, a traveler, who calls the thing you carry on your back a winnowing fan, then fix that oar in earth and make fine sacrifices to Poseidon— a bull and stud-boar. Then you will go home [...]

and here are the same lines in the wordier fagles translation, just to show the general consistency of the prophecy:

But once you have killed those suitors in your halls— by stealth or in open fight with slashing bronze— go forth once more, you must ... carry your well-planed oar until you come to a race of people who know nothing of the sea, whose food is never seasoned with salt, strangers all to ships with their crimson prows and long slim oars, wings that make ships fly. what i refer to as "the impossibility clause" is finding this place where no one has so much as heard of the sea. i don't think this is a place that exists.

at least not in the story. it's not that there are no real places so isolated and landlocked that the people there wouldn't recognize an oar, but the geography of the odyssey is not necessarily the geography of the real world, even as ancient people understood it. the odyssey's world is full of mythical places with cyclopes and witches and the cattle of the sun and a port of the underworld. and within the poem, odysseus' whole life is circumscribed by the sea: his homeland is an island, and we meet him after years lost at sea, stuck on an island. wherever this prophesied place is, it seems to me that it's not part of odysseus' world.

hence: impossible quest. my belief has only been reinforced by the total lack of stories about odysseus searching for or finding this place (though the telegony abstract mentions odysseus making sacrifices, he makes them in known places that do border the sea, and no special mention of the oar is made; maybe it's assumed, but i don't know).

for those who have read the dreamer trilogy: matthew is no longer dependent on ronan after the events of the series right? like if ronan does die, matthew can still live on without him due to some sweetmetal stuff?

do you think that both of you think about the world and your lives the way that you write? As in, are the inner thought styles of mike and will the same as the way you guys think about the world and have thoughts, not in subject matter obviously but in style? Like the highly detailed thinking that observes every tiny thing and notes down every aspect of each choice and action and surroundings? Or did you both adopt this as a way of characterising mike and will as teenagers?

ooh this is such an interesting ask and i have actually thought about this quite often over the last couple years, and we’ve talked about it a couple times as well!! for me, the way i write is often really similar to the way my thoughts work, mostly for larger blocks of narration where the character is just thinking or reasoning with themselves, and especially for more casual/humorous sequences as opposed to ones where i’m trying to be a bit more flowery or evocative with my word choice. it’s really easy for me to get carried away writing these bits because usually whatever is in my brain will get directly word vomited out onto the page, which often means long nonsensical thought loops and very accidentally unserious figures of speech. i do find there are certain characters that are easier for me to do this with: mike for one, obviously, but also buck in the 911 wip i was working on for a while (rip) and patrick zweig in my challengers wip (rip x2) — which im realizing as i type this is basically just a list of characters that scream adhd to me. lol.

other characters like will are not As natural for me in this specific way, but i’ve gotten comfortable enough writing him and his voice for it to happen anyway. and others (vi from my arcane wip, loki from my lokius fic) are muchhh harder to write because they don’t really feel like my inner voice nearly as much, so i have to hold myself back more and really think about whether i am writing from My head or Theirs, if that makes sense. i also get a lot of “yeah i can really hear your voice coming through in this” from my friends when i share excerpts of fics in certain povs with them, so i guess it’s not just in my head! + thea might have thoughts to add but i can confirm that there are also lots of times where she’s written something and i just like read it in her voice because it’s totally something she would say or do, either irl when we are together or just over text. and a lot of the hyper-describing of thoughts and surroundings is honestly equal parts a mixture of my natural thoughts and also just my process for setting a scene, which mostly goes something along the lines of “picture the place, picture the things in the place, describe the things in the place in the clearest but least awkward way possible.” probably this leads to some more describing and noticing and such than i would naturally do in my own head but 🤷🏽‍♀️ honestly it’s pretty close i think

Update; I got back into working on charms today!

I had a busy last week or two and hadn’t really had a chance or the energy to start drawing this once since i finished Ayda, for reasons that frankly are a bit boring to go into detail about here, but I’m excited to get back into the swing of things now!

Given that we have both Jiro and Zenji being ghouls and coming from the same family... the idea of having a genetic component to being a ghoul makes me think of curse techniques in JJK. If the principle was the same... if mc had a child while she was cursed would there be a risk of the curse contaminating the baby? Could the curse be passed on to the child, removing it from the MC but making them some sort of human anomaly hybrid? Would that be a "cure" Darkwick consider ethical and acceptable?

Would such a child be able to forgive its mother for bringing it into existence just to save her own life? Could they beat the odds and just be a normal kid? Or would they have some sort of hero complex and think they deserve to be worshipped...
