hey everyone, sorry for not checking in sooner things have been rough. i'm currently sick so i thought now would be a good time to update you all.

the short of it:

-family members keep ending up in the hospital.

-i've been baby sitting a lot (temp. parent of 2)

-i got sick

the long of it: (tw for medical stuff) :

my younger sister was admitted again to the hospital back in September cause she has heart failure, has had it for a few years actually, i have been taking care of her two kids in the meantime, but its has gotten to the point were she is on life support. a lot of things have been going wrong , along with her having suffered two strokes during her stay there and yeah i've been pretty scared of losing her. she's finally off of the ecmo machine (life support that does a lot of the work load for her heart and lungs) and are on two other life support machines, one for her left and right sides of her heart. she still has a long way to go for her recovery.

i have been struggling to keep myself afloat since i've had to cut my hours at work to take care of the kids( doctors appointments and school meetings) and try to complete my care training to look after my sister when she finally can leave the hospital.

not long ago my other sister was sent to the ER cause her pneumonia almost took her out, she was super lucky to survive. then my mom was also sent to the ER cause of her heart, she recovered as well.

i'm still not sure when i'll get to post again, i might get a small break soon idk, my ass is tired lol

does anyone else who watches impulsesv on twitch absolutely hate that one mod?? always banning and timing out people for innocent jokes or “spamming” (aka posting a message in the chat a second after the topic has been moved past, probably from stream delay). I’ve never seen any other twitch chat where the mods actively prevent chat from making jokes as a group

Re: your idea about the vast majority of eyebrow raise gempearl stream moments having unhinged chat messages behind them. This latest Pearl stream (feb 4 I think) really drove that point home for me. Both in that chat was noticeably weirder that day, but also that in general they can’t escape each other, even in other streams.

All Pearl has to do is mention not getting distracted/sidetracked this stream, and chat is filled with Gem and pickles and whatnot. Head collecting? Ask Gem. Hungry Hemits? Agh, if only Gem was online. Need to borrow something from someone’s storage? It’s no longer Impy or Tango, but Gem, that’s first suggested.

And then that day Gem streamed in Pearl’s stead (cool coworker and friend move of her btw) and mentioned “our chats have just enough overlap” about knowing Oli’s peardle theme hotkey. That stream was explicitly connected to Pearl obviously, Gem herself kept bringing her up, but my point is how the cc’s are also aware of how merged they are.

I guess we’re like? Trained? That they’re a package deal. But it’s at bizarre levels compared to other streamers, even ones with more popular pairings. And yeah, it’s pretty funny / cute, especially when one of them gets a good quip in about it. I, too, voted in every round of the unhinged gempearl moments poll. But lately it feels so constant in streams, when even during WL chat usually contained it to episode discussion. Streamers play off the chat’s energy, making more moments chat goes crazy over, and so on, until we get here.

(This might tie into a larger discussion about chat moderation / tone / vibe, especially for Pearl, as seen in the latest stream with many unearned innuendo accusations. But I digress.)

The vibes are off in chat, and it’s lowkey a bit uncomfortable. Or maybe I’m overthinking. Love to hear your thoughts xoxo

I haven’t been able to catch the recent streams because of. Well. Life. But yeah I can see what you mean from the streams that I have been able to watch from the weeks before, this isn’t meant to discourage chat/fan interaction with ccs or anything, just to clarify first of all, because it’s normal for a streamer to have some back and forth with their chat, and like, it makes sense for a content creator to be seeking out and be aware of what their fans like, y’know? I don’t personally like having ccs acknowledge my existence like. At all. So I never show up in chat, but it’s still perfectly valid for fans to be engaging in chat and being vocal about what they like seeing

But still, if you’re asking for just my thoughts and stuff, I’d agree that there’s been an abundance of chat messages trying to push for more shiny duo interactions, which is most likely just because they’ve gained a lot more popularity as a duo/ship compared to, say, before Secret Life, so naturally, people wanna see more of them! And that just snowballs to. Uh. Feet apparently

Like you said, I think at its simplest it’s just cute that they’re such good friends and it’s so fun watching them banter and interact, it makes me incredibly happy watching them together!!! In my heart they are just. So. They’re frequently bought together do not separate secret third thing bonded by the stars and beyond etc. and I imagine for a lot of the fans expressing their love for them together/want for them to interact feel more or less like that

I don’t necessarily want to place blame on anyone for being vocal about it in chat because that’s what the stream chat is for, but you’re still making a pretty good point about chat being really focused with making Pearl interact with Gem on stream when she’s not really wanting/needing to do that. It’s a bit upsetting sometimes to see loads of messages trying to get an interaction and perhaps even derailing what’s happening in the stream, it’s frustrating to see some people in chat bring up shipping/shipping-adjacent topics when it’s already been made clear that it’s not something they want to see/have shoved at them (THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM THEM VOICING DISLIKE/HATRED FOR SHIPPING! NOT AN EXCUSE FOR PEOPLE TO DISS ON SHIPPERS!), so it does get a bit too much for me to see so many chat messages poking for a shiny duo interaction— I’m not really the person to speak on chat moderation stuff, I’m just. A girlie who likes shiny duo a bit too much, so there’s not much I can say regarding what I feel like is appropriate, we can all make our own call on what’s an okay amount of poking and nudging. Strictly in my own opinion, I do think we can chill a bit on that front, because I don’t want ccs to feel forced to only do this one thing and interact with just this one person, there’s plenty of other enjoyable player interactions and stream moments

Solstice Sewing Circle!!

Solstice Sewing Circle Stream Saturday, December 21st 9 AM to Noon, Eastern Join @/wayward-Impy and the MoShang server for some streaming and some sewing. If you don't know how to sew but have always wanted to learn, now is your chance! Impy will gladly teach you the basics of hand sewing. Or, if you just have a project of your own that you'd like to work on while we're all chatting, that's good, too! If you are planning to learn the basics during this event, you will need:

Scissors suitable for cutting fabric

A needle

Some thread

Masking tape or a chalk pencil or even just a regular pencil

Fabric to practice with (note: woven fabric is better than a knit for learning, and please make sure any fabric you use has been freshly laundered first)

Also good to have available but not strictly necessary:

Straight pins

A ruler

A sharpie

An ironing board and iron

hey everyone, just letting you all know that I'll be taking a hiatus for an unknown amount of time. finishing up requests are on the top of the list ( I have one left ). I'm very sorry for the sudden notice, but it's very important that I focus my attention elsewhere for now.

Finally.

Seems before he can even think about one thing, five more are happening these days.

He takes off his pants, tracing the line where years of leg hair sharply cut off to freshly shaved.

He’s dirty, so he expends the power of his ring to clean himself, too tired and too done to sit down for a true wash. He puts on fresh new pants, socks, and boots. Hells, let’s throw a shirt and jacket in there, too. We’re feeling fancy.

He feels a bit guilty that he left them in the dust like that; climbing away from Yorgrim, watching Briggsy squirm until he shut the door.

Then he recalls what they did to him. Split him in two, blew his brains out. He’s allowed to be angry but he just wants to forget.

…

…What? Forget what?

……

…………Guess it wasn’t all that important.

Anyway. Impi turned Isa. That’s bad. He should chat with one or both of them. Impi means impulse, he can use that, can’t he? Isa is easy enough to handle. He can get things going again, hook line and sinker.

He relaxes a bit, knowing that, knowing he has at least one out to this madness.

…It’s not much, though.

He practices walking around the caravan, cane in hand.

Regressor Gem, Caregiver Pearl In which Pearl helps Gem with a prank and Gem doesn’t like to eat her vegetables

“Pearl!” She jumped, looking around for the source of the voice, she turned around just in time to see Gem fly in at top speed, crashing next to her. “What’s up Gem?” Pearl asked as Gem stood up and brushed the dust of the knees of her overalls.

Gem looked over at her, “Pearl! I need your help!” She grinned in a rather suspicious manner. “It’s very important.” “I’m listening?” Gem twisted her hands together, “sooo, I was going to prank Impy…” “Mhm” “And I’ve got the perfect plan! It’s super amazing! He’ll have no idea what hit him!” “Yeah?” “But… one sliiight issue…” Ah, there it is, “what?” “My hair.” “What’s wrong with your hair?” Pearl asked, confused. She inspected the girl, but the only thing she could see was that her hair was a little tasseled from the rough landing. “It’s all in my face!” Gem said as though it was the most obvious thing ever. “Got it. You want me to braid it?” Gem nodded. “Alright, come ‘ere you. I’m going to bring these shulkers back to my storage room and then I’ll braid your hair.” Gem helpfully grabbed a shulker of dirt “I can help!” She exclaimed.

They put away the shulkers quickly, chatting as they worked, in about five minutes they were done. “Alright, now about that hair of yours. Let me see.” Gem sat on the edge of one of the shulkers and Pearl sat behind her. Gem explained her prank to Pearl while she braided her hair.

A few minutes later Pearl patted Gem on the shoulder, “All done kiddo!” “Thank you!” Gem went to run out of the room. “Wait a moment!” Pearl called after her. Gem paused, “what?” “You can’t prank on an empty stomach silly! It’s lunch time!” Gem thought for a moment, “true… I guess I could be hungry… if I get a peanut butter jelly sandwich?” “Alright. But, you have to also eat your celery and carrot sticks too.” “Deal.” Gem held her hand up to shake and Pearl accepted, although she was pretty sure Gem would find a way to leave with a couple pieces of celery still on her plate.

Sure enough twenty minutes later there were still celery sticks on Gem’s plate, and she was “not very hungry anymore.” “If you eat your celery I’ll battle with you later.” “You’ll do that anyway!” “Well…” Pearl knew it was true. “Ok, how about I’ll help you with your prank?” “You’d do that anyway too!” Gem seemed to consider for a moment, “but… I’ll eat the celery if you help with the prank… aaannd… you leave your base for a few hours tomorrow so I can prank you too!” Pearl knew she would regret this.

The next evening Pearl came home from playing Decked Out to find that there was a giant celery stick built over her base. She sighed and started off to her latest cleaning job, already planning retaliation.

“So, you and me, huh?” Impulse had probably said it about five times now since they’d figured it out, and yet still it was a surprise.

“Looks like it. Ain’t that something?” Bdubs chuckled, moving some things into the chest next to the bed.

“But like, what happened to your face, man?” Impulse ran a hand over his chin in sympathy.

“Dunno. Past scars maybe. You know how it is with such things.” Bdubs looked wrecked. He’d come into this world with a black eye and scrapes. It looked painful, honestly.

Impulse hummed. “Well, let’s see what we can do about that, shall we?” He rummaged into his pockets and pulled out a first aid kit (because of course he had a first aid kit).

“Impy, we have wheat to grow and a house to build and-”

“And it can wait one day.” Impulse took Bdubs by the hand and brought him to his bed. Their bed. “We may not have all the time in the world, but I’ll always make the time for you. Now sit down so I can clean you up.”

Bdubs sat, grumbling and mumbling with a small smile on his face. “What, you don’t think I’m the prettiest guy around already?”

Impulse rolled his eyes, putting some wound healing substance on a clean cloth. “Yes, you’re so pretty, but if these don’t get cleaned soon you’ll be an infected pretty guy.” He sat on the bed next to Bdubs and ever so gently began dabbing the cloth to his wounds.

“Hey, I mean if it’s you and me against the world, a bit of scruff and infection might send people running away!” Bdubs tapped his head. “Big brain moves here.”

“Well, I mean, hopefully it won’t end up as extreme as us against the world.” Impulse smiled at Bdubs. “There’s still hope. If everyone is smart and rational, we can all have our own paradises. And plus, I don’t want to sleep next to a man with goo coming out of his face.” He set the cloth aside, and stuck a few bandaids on the more exposed areas of his face. “There we go. Perfect. Just like your redstone.”

Bdubs put a hand to Impulse’s face. There was a deep sadness in those big eyes, and maybe a bit of desperation too. “I hope your whimsical thoughts of paradise come true, I really do. But we can’t afford to be so blind, and I know you know that.”

“Well, for now, we can just be us, and not worry about all that.” Impulse’s smile wobbled for just a second. “I got you, Bdubs. Forever.”

“Forever.”

Perhaps he was being too crass, too on edge. Perhaps he should follow in his soulmate’s big footsteps and just smile at how lovely it was right now. But Bdubs knew the past, knew just how bad it could get. And yes, it was beautiful right now, but something dark had a hold on his soul, and wasn’t about to let go.
