Others have talked, very rightly, about Bells Hells having an extremely Us vs. Them style of morality and one thing I find interesting about all that is many of their most virulent (read: actively nasty towards other fans) defenders are also taking this stance. The party line has become that the segments of the fandom that are disappointed with how this campaign shook out have never been happy with anything Bells Hells did from the beginning and have been actively hating on people who do like it for just as long. Us, the beleaguered Campaign 3 lovers versus Them, the mean c3 haters (who are often characterized as being hung up on the Mighty Nein and simply mad Bells Hells aren't the Nein again).
What's been quite funny for me personally is that I have seen vague posts clearly targeted at myself giving me the above detailed characterization of the c3 hater when I: have never seen Campaign 2 (though I did watch Campaign 1 back in 2019), started watching live with the first EXU, got into the fandom (as a lurker) at the start of Campaign 3, didn't make any of my own posts about it until late 2022 and didn't start really posting in earnest until mid 2023. Practically none of the characteristics applied to the archetypal c3 hater certain fans have created actually apply to me, other than of course thinking Campaign 3 actually isn't very good. So it's been interesting to watch people draw lines in the sand and create an Us vs. Them narrative that I know isn't true based on existing as myself.

the majority of us ARE 22 year old college kids though😭 at least that was the dominant demographic at my tit show
gonna be real i think everyone in the community is going to keep their own confirmation biases on the demographic split because let me tell you the vast majority of phannies on my dash are at least late 20s and almost everyone i talk to or have met irl are dnp's age or older and have always existed since the beginning, they're just not as vocal/don't share their faces or personal information as much/don't engage with dnp in the same way the kids did back in the day!
and yeah obviously there are a ton of young 20 somethings (and that demographic is basically the only one dnp talk about publicy because they're whole vibe right now is "you all watch us when you were 14") SO WHILE I UNDERSTAND THAT DEMOGRAPHIC IS A MASSIVE ONE!!!! i don't think they make up as big of a percentage of the fandom as they think they do (maybe like a healthy 68%... instead of the 95% they assume)
**edited for the slew of 22 year old anons**

anyone else have that one fully OC-centric fic they really want to write even though it's so toxic that it'd probably have a target audience of like five people who have the fandom equivalent of flamingo acid tolerance? no? just me?

it's funny/infuriating how the fandom reacts to squadmates that don't always agree with Shepard, even though (paragon) Shepard is 100% okay with their crew forming their own opinions and choosing their own path. quoting a paragon option "I don't have use for people who can't think for themselves", Shepard doesn't hold grudges against their squadmates, either. they accept and appreciate any person who wants to help

I often say veth should be more popular and I stand by that opinion but sometimes I look at a few essek stan blogs and I become at least a little thankful that at least I can trust the five whole veth stans on this site not to strangle eachother if left alone too long that's pretty nice

I’m about to be an annoying queer narnia fan so don’t mind me
Tumblr media
Ok but I will say that c.s. Lewis wasn’t as conservative as some Christian’s like to believe
, fun fact he had sex outside of marriage and was into bdsm to a small degree but don’t quote me on that I’ve only seen it touched on once by a lewis scholar
He had gay friends and while his views he talked about were in line with traditional sexual ethic I’d say he was fairly open for his time. At the very least from what I remember he was less clutch your pearls when it came to sex as a topic.
He didn’t like casual sex very much as like, a concept but also that doesn’t mean in this fictional world he made it would never be possible, one of the books a main plot line is an asshole Prince wanting to kidnap Susan to force him to be his wife and if that’s allowed I’m sure people were out there getting it on. Sex is a thing people do, authors can have things happen in their worlds they don’t condone (even though he didn’t in this case and that’s good cause it would make narnia not for children, I’m talking headcanons, theories or even just stuff that can and has been built upon in fan content)
even if aslans laws involved waiting till marriage (not in my headcanon but let’s just say it is cause of the author) not every citizen of that world would have had the same beliefs
Also everyone brings up Father Christmas showing up but I think we need to talk more about bacchus/Dionysus and his followers showing up in the Prince caspian and doing a g rated romp (because there were children present) like it’s very funny to imagine that C.S. Lewis wrote this world with Satyrs fauns, dryads and water spirits and was like “and every citizen of narnia was straight and waited until marriage”
also regardless the world of Narnia itself (specifically the country Narnia within that world, like narnia amongst archenland, calormen, the eastern islands) is quite open and wild and despite authors intentions can read as queer in general. It’s wilder and has a big diversity in its citizens (also the one country where arguably men and other creatures are truly equal)
Also this is tangential but I saw some comments along the lines of “weren’t they the only humans???” the first generation of narnian monarchs wouldn’t have been fully human probably, after the first two their children I think married dryads and stuff. But then also by the time the pevensies showed up and especially once they were well into their reign the surrounding countries of Narnia had plenty of humans, Narnia is actually the outlier of being a country not primarily populated by humans.

*grabs fandom by the shoulders* please tell me you understand that the dichotomy of the 'fan favorite man who’s done nothing wrong ever how dare you imply otherwise he's just a TRAUMATIZED BABY' vs 'woman who’s a selfish bitch who should just die for not always prioritizing the male favorite and for getting in the way of my m/m ship' is bad on both sides.
please tell me you understand these kinds of readings remove complexity and agency from both the male and female characters as well as the narrative as a whole. please tell me you don’t just want to flip the dynamic. please tell me you didn’t think it was originally bad only because it was the male character who should be demonized and the female character excused. please I am begging you to develop media literacy and to step away from radfem rethoric

Cursed with wanting a new hyperfixation to get me out of the Arc/ane fandom while also being so heavily locked in on Mel and Jayce it's hard for me to think about anything else without tying it back to them
