one of those nights
#small vent#lately I’ve been questioning things a lot#and this overwhelming feeling of being lonely takes over#and I question myself and my feelings and thoughts on certain things#sometimes i end up thinking im a bad person#the guilt i feel because I don’t do ship art gets overwhelming sometimes#and i end up feeling like an asshole because of it#but I genuinely just can’t (at least not for the gf fandom)#family and platonic moments are just way too important to me#which might explain a small desire wanting to have that but unable to#maybe it’s the aroaceness in me idk#it just gets really lonely sometimes in your own corner#i’m sorry#I know things like this can be annoying but I needed to vent#some more light-hearted things hopefully soon#delete later

Fuck every percy jackson "fan" who is still complaining about percy & annabeths HAIR COLOURS being different then in the books. I hope Nico is blonde so that all of you cry and scream like fucking toddlers
#like actually#please STFU on pjo fanart#nobody cares that you are upset about annabeth not being blonde YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMMENT IT#like we get that you do not have the skill to make banger pjo fanart yourself (oh noo :((( poor baby)#but maybe your time would be better spent making your own fanart if you wanna complain about how the artist draws a certain character#contrary to unpopular beleif the world does not revolve around you#just because you don't like that leah jeffries is playing annabeth does not mean that the casting is gonna change#go sit in a corner and cry about it and stop having a meltdown in artist comment sections! Literally nobody gives a shit about your opinion#if you are actively bringing down the pjo fandom/tearing apart anything the new adaptation has to offer#then I will gladly inform you that you are NOT a pjo fan#you are an annoying piece of shit that cares more about accuracy then the actual story#percy jackson#pjo#percy jackson series#percy jackson disney+#annabeth chase#leah sava jeffries#walker scobell#leah is our annabeth

Others have talked, very rightly, about Bells Hells having an extremely Us vs. Them style of morality and one thing I find interesting about all that is many of their most virulent (read: actively nasty towards other fans) defenders are also taking this stance. The party line has become that the segments of the fandom that are disappointed with how this campaign shook out have never been happy with anything Bells Hells did from the beginning and have been actively hating on people who do like it for just as long. Us, the beleaguered Campaign 3 lovers versus Them, the mean c3 haters (who are often characterized as being hung up on the Mighty Nein and simply mad Bells Hells aren't the Nein again).
What's been quite funny for me personally is that I have seen vague posts clearly targeted at myself giving me the above detailed characterization of the c3 hater when I: have never seen Campaign 2 (though I did watch Campaign 1 back in 2019), started watching live with the first EXU, got into the fandom (as a lurker) at the start of Campaign 3, didn't make any of my own posts about it until late 2022 and didn't start really posting in earnest until mid 2023. Practically none of the characteristics applied to the archetypal c3 hater certain fans have created actually apply to me, other than of course thinking Campaign 3 actually isn't very good. So it's been interesting to watch people draw lines in the sand and create an Us vs. Them narrative that I know isn't true based on existing as myself.
#just the complete inability to comprehend someone who started with c3 joining the war against the haters on the side of the haters#because unfortunately the campaign isn't well done#another interesting thing is that one of the reasons i got into writing meta in the first place#was i saw the harassment being targeted at people whose opinions i liked to read and who i often found myself agreeing with#to the point some just stopped writing certain meta#and i decided that i would try my hand at the topics they got harassed over (read: imogen meta and laudna meta)#because i thought laura and marisha as creators deserved to have their work analyzed as their peers do#and i figured that because i was new and had no name in fandom#i wouldn't see the same level of harassment because it wasn't about the takes so much as it was being jealous#that other people had audiences that liked what they had to say (and what was being said disagreed with them openly)#and i was RIGHT about that latter point too#almost two years on and while i have been vagued as said above#and gotten the odd weird anon#it's been NOWHERE near the levels of outright harassment others have gotten#for opinions i share and have very openly expressed#there's just this very real thread of jealousy that's existed in certain corners of this fandom for years#of people who came up in the fandom (as it were) during c2#and have maintained audiences through c3#cr discourse

the majority of us ARE 22 year old college kids though😭 at least that was the dominant demographic at my tit show
gonna be real i think everyone in the community is going to keep their own confirmation biases on the demographic split because let me tell you the vast majority of phannies on my dash are at least late 20s and almost everyone i talk to or have met irl are dnp's age or older and have always existed since the beginning, they're just not as vocal/don't share their faces or personal information as much/don't engage with dnp in the same way the kids did back in the day!
and yeah obviously there are a ton of young 20 somethings (and that demographic is basically the only one dnp talk about publicy because they're whole vibe right now is "you all watch us when you were 14") SO WHILE I UNDERSTAND THAT DEMOGRAPHIC IS A MASSIVE ONE!!!! i don't think they make up as big of a percentage of the fandom as they think they do (maybe like a healthy 68%... instead of the 95% they assume)
**edited for the slew of 22 year old anons**
#anon ask#i feel like i am old man yelling at cloud but when iii was a 22 college kid in this fandom it still felt older than public perception let o#god even when i was 17 watching them in 2010 i felt younger than most fans#but then i was staying far far away from certain corners#anyway! its okay and great and one day you will be in your 30s and you never stopped loving the things you used to#phan#dan and phil

anyone else have that one fully OC-centric fic they really want to write even though it's so toxic that it'd probably have a target audience of like five people who have the fandom equivalent of flamingo acid tolerance? no? just me?
#there's people in the [checks] star war fandom who want a gothic horror with every content warning#with a heavy focus on the main character experiencing transmisogynistic abuse in particular#right? right? no? just me?#(before you ask no I couldn't file serial numbers off of it it's TOO specific to a certain corner of the star war)

it's funny/infuriating how the fandom reacts to squadmates that don't always agree with Shepard, even though (paragon) Shepard is 100% okay with their crew forming their own opinions and choosing their own path. quoting a paragon option "I don't have use for people who can't think for themselves", Shepard doesn't hold grudges against their squadmates, either. they accept and appreciate any person who wants to help

I often say veth should be more popular and I stand by that opinion but sometimes I look at a few essek stan blogs and I become at least a little thankful that at least I can trust the five whole veth stans on this site not to strangle eachother if left alone too long that's pretty nice
#i said five for comedies sake btw im aware theres more of us lurking around#anyways the range in essek fans is insane to me like youve got people acting like he just a wittle baby boy 🥺 AND people acting like a guy#who ended the campaign trying to better himself being a better person 8 years later is character assassination?!? REALLY?? you needed BOTH?#insane to me coming from a corner of the fandom where people who call themselves stans of a character actually agree on who she is#dont get me wrong we arent identical clones we do have differing opinions on certain topics (her marriage is a big one) but at least in my#time here (i think i joined in 2022?) ive never seen a veth stan complain about another veth stans take#we do love to find bad meta and beat it with a stick but it never comes from people who actually care about her#cr discourse

I’m about to be an annoying queer narnia fan so don’t mind me

Ok but I will say that c.s. Lewis wasn’t as conservative as some Christian’s like to believe
, fun fact he had sex outside of marriage and was into bdsm to a small degree but don’t quote me on that I’ve only seen it touched on once by a lewis scholar
He had gay friends and while his views he talked about were in line with traditional sexual ethic I’d say he was fairly open for his time. At the very least from what I remember he was less clutch your pearls when it came to sex as a topic.
He didn’t like casual sex very much as like, a concept but also that doesn’t mean in this fictional world he made it would never be possible, one of the books a main plot line is an asshole Prince wanting to kidnap Susan to force him to be his wife and if that’s allowed I’m sure people were out there getting it on. Sex is a thing people do, authors can have things happen in their worlds they don’t condone (even though he didn’t in this case and that’s good cause it would make narnia not for children, I’m talking headcanons, theories or even just stuff that can and has been built upon in fan content)
even if aslans laws involved waiting till marriage (not in my headcanon but let’s just say it is cause of the author) not every citizen of that world would have had the same beliefs
Also everyone brings up Father Christmas showing up but I think we need to talk more about bacchus/Dionysus and his followers showing up in the Prince caspian and doing a g rated romp (because there were children present) like it’s very funny to imagine that C.S. Lewis wrote this world with Satyrs fauns, dryads and water spirits and was like “and every citizen of narnia was straight and waited until marriage”
also regardless the world of Narnia itself (specifically the country Narnia within that world, like narnia amongst archenland, calormen, the eastern islands) is quite open and wild and despite authors intentions can read as queer in general. It’s wilder and has a big diversity in its citizens (also the one country where arguably men and other creatures are truly equal)
Also this is tangential but I saw some comments along the lines of “weren’t they the only humans???” the first generation of narnian monarchs wouldn’t have been fully human probably, after the first two their children I think married dryads and stuff. But then also by the time the pevensies showed up and especially once they were well into their reign the surrounding countries of Narnia had plenty of humans, Narnia is actually the outlier of being a country not primarily populated by humans.
#don’t take this too seriously#narnia#I have a weird thing where I don’t engage in comments anywhere but tumblr#I’m too scared of being perceived#also it’s not that serious so I just go here in my corner to engage my thoughts#narnia is embedded in my bones#c.s. Lewis#like you bring up narnia and I’m THERE and I’ve been that way since I was six#smosh mouth#narnia headcanon#don’t come at me please#I’m scared of certain narnia fans#do I need to tag this with a warning?#tw: sex mention#queer fandom#queer christian#mythology in narnia#exvangelical

*grabs fandom by the shoulders* please tell me you understand that the dichotomy of the 'fan favorite man who’s done nothing wrong ever how dare you imply otherwise he's just a TRAUMATIZED BABY' vs 'woman who’s a selfish bitch who should just die for not always prioritizing the male favorite and for getting in the way of my m/m ship' is bad on both sides.
please tell me you understand these kinds of readings remove complexity and agency from both the male and female characters as well as the narrative as a whole. please tell me you don’t just want to flip the dynamic. please tell me you didn’t think it was originally bad only because it was the male character who should be demonized and the female character excused. please I am begging you to develop media literacy and to step away from radfem rethoric
#please tell me you understand that both extremes are reductive readings of the characters on opposite ends of the spectrum#this is mainly about critical role fandom and how certain corners of it embodies this sentiment something fierce#thinking they are defending female characters when what they’re actually doing is reducing her from complex and morally gray#into a paper doll ment to be shipped and babied#meanwhile any male character (or nonbinary character they present as male for the sake of arguement)#who doesn’t prioritize her get immediately eviserated#and god forbid they perceive him as a threat to their f/f ship#(who they are stubbornly refering to as lesbian despite its bisexual characters)#it was bad in c2 and its exponentially worse in c3#nella talks#critical role

Cursed with wanting a new hyperfixation to get me out of the Arc/ane fandom while also being so heavily locked in on Mel and Jayce it's hard for me to think about anything else without tying it back to them
#my posts#the fandom for the show is just exhausting#especially in the corner of a certain canon x canon ship on twitter#i'd love to move on to other stuff#but tbh none of the stuff that i have checked out recently#with my new media stuff this year#has hit in the way arc/ane and mel and jayce did yet

The way that one ai "artist" has infiltrated Sleep Token content on instagram is insidious.
#it's just disappointing you know?#like. this is a fandom for a band who routinely supports smaller creators. who pack artistry into every corner of their work#and yet we're doing nothing when a certain company come for fanartists but completely supporting ai “artists”#and it's other creatives too#musicians doing covers now have it in the back of their videos#I thought I escaped it lmao#ramblings & musings#not putting this in the main tag cause it really is just me being peeved that I can't enjoy a good drum cover#without it being tainted by ai
