“No, no, baby. Stop moving. Muses don’t move, they just sit there and look pretty.”

You’re ninety-nine percent sure that Matt is lying out of his ass, but you still can’t help but blush a little bit as he commands you to sit still and look pretty. He’s been furiously scribbling away at his transcript, occasionally looking up when he looks particularly frustrated and seems to soften back to his normal self once he lays eyes on you. Seeing the way your presence changes something in him, you’re not even touching the man. 

A few times as he’s done this with you, he’s managed to write a decent chunk of his mystery novel. He swears you’re his muse, despite the fact you’re not sure you’re offering him all that much more than just emotional support and a good-looking face to look at. Mayhaps a once- over to check for typos. It’s not as if you have the same level of experience at him, but you hopefully at least know the English language good enough to catch him using the incorrect homophone or whatnot. 

But this time, he asks for your opinion on a plot point.

“Now, should I make the protagonist go after the cult or the murder clan first?”

“First? Oohhh, I’d need some more information to make a proper decision.”

He goes into further details, arguing for both sides of the coin. Seems like both groups were awful to the protagonist, but you urge him to go for the cult. Matt stands up, making Measured strides towards you as you close your book around your thumb to keep your spot.

“Can I help you?”

“You can stop being pretty for a second and kiss me.”

He crouches down to your level, slightly squeezing your face as he pulls you into a kiss.

“My beautiful muse, thoughtful and elegant.”

Jamie hated being in the hospital, everything around him was uncomfortably sterile and cold.

Barb had brought him here after he had a bad panic attack. He wasn't allowed to leave for another few days, which didn't make him feel any better.

“I just wanna go home” Jamie mumbled, curling himself around Kevin. Kevin wrapped his arms around the small boy, pressing a soft kiss to Jamie’s head.

"I know baby" Kevin whispered in response, stroking the boy's hair, "We'll get out of here as soon as we can".

Jamie sniffled slightly but didn't say anything else.

He was tired and didn't want to move anymore, so instead, he rested his head on Kevin's shoulder.

It felt nice to be close to someone else, it gave him comfort and warmth.

"Do you need anything?" Kevin asked, looking down at his boyfriend rubbing circles on the small boy's back.

"Stay with me please" Jamie murmured

"Of course," Kevin nodded, pulling Jamie into a tight hug.

He could see the tears welling up in Jamie's eyes as he moved to lay down next to him on the hospital bed.

"I've got you, baby"

Kevin kissed the top of Jamie's head again, then pressed a gentle kiss against his lips.

Jamie buried his face in Kevin's chest, wrapping his arms tightly around the other man.

"You should try to get some sleep, love" Kevin whispered.

"I don't wanna have another nightmare" Jamie whimpered. Kevin sighed.

He wanted nothing more than to scoop Jamie up and take him home but he knew Jamie had to stay at the hospital.

"I know honey" Kevin whispered, kissing the side of Jamie's neck and brushing a stray hair from his face,

"But I'm right here and you're safe now. Just try and rest."

Jamie relaxed into Kevin's arms before nodding slowly and letting his eyes droop shut.

Thank you for saying this! I feel like the reading OP puts forward (a fairly common reading of John) misses a lot about the story, in a way that I find hard to make sense of.

It's absolutely true that the situation John was put in was a fucked up one. It's absolutely true that power has a corrupting influence on people. And there are definitely some wild bad-faith takes on his actions out there (cow wall discourse, I'm looking at you). But saying that it would require an unrealistically virtuous person to make better decisions in his place just seems flatly incorrect to me.

Let me state my position explicitly here: I do not believe that most human beings, put in John's situation, would choose to kill literally all life in the solar system to pursue vengeance against the trillionaires. His choice to destroy the world for vengeance was a choice, and one that other people in the narrative were begging him not to make.

There's a really haunting parallel between the NtN apocalypse scene (p. 310):

N— was all, It’s not going to work. This is going to end with the ships launching and G— getting shot, and you’re going to kill millions of people for nothing. We followed you to save the world. I said, We’re doing that. This is how we save the world. Believe me. C— said, John, your problem is that you care less about being a saviour than you do about meting out punishment. I said, C—, I was just your best man! C— said, You still are. That doesn’t change the fact that you can be quite the most appallingly vindictive person I have ever met.

and the HtN funeral scene (p. 94):

“[…] I never saw her cry except once,” she added in a pointless rush. “The day after. When we put together the research. When she became a Lyctor. I said, There was no alternative. She said…” [...] She cleared her throat: “She said, We had the choice to stop.”

In both cases, the text deliberately draws our attention to the fact that what happened was the result of choices these people made, and that they could reasonably have chosen otherwise. And our story is about the millennia-long consequences of those choices.

I also think that the John-was-doing-his-best reading fails to engage with the role that patriarchy plays in the story.

Given the pervasive misogyny displayed towards Mercymorn in HtN, I really don't think it's fair to give John credit for M—'s insistence on reproductive justice in the cryo project.

More significantly (and unpleasantly), a major thread through HtN and NtN is of John (metaphorically) grooming/sexually abusing Harrow and Alecto. Better meta-writers than me have discussed this at length (familyabolisher here; sophelstein here and here; CW rape & incest on all those links), but for our purposes it's sufficient to say that John calling Alecto "Annabel Lee" is a reference to Lolita, and one that tazmuir (herself a child sexual abuse survivor) has also made in her pre-TLT writing.

This paints the idea of John loving the earth/Alecto in a much darker light, and reinforces the parallels between John's post-Resurrection colonial project and real-world colonialism's imposition of patriarchal social structures (mentioned around the 10 minute mark of this Philosophy Tube video). It's not that it's easy to villainise John because he's a man - him being a man is intrinsically tied up in the harm that he does to our (overwhelmingly female) cast.

Aside: I don't have any good theories about why tazmuir chose for her sexual-abuser villain to be Māori, and I'm a little uncomfortable with this choice as it stands, but that doesn't make his actions within the story any more excusable.

So to sum up: John made extremely harmful choices even when people around him asked him to choose differently, and he is intertextually positioned as the perpetrator of patriarchal violence. Based on this, I don't find OP's reading (that anyone else in John's situation would have done just as much harm) to be credible.

(As rotationalsymmetry said above, I don't want this to be taken as an attack on or moral judgment of people who subscribe to John-sympathetic readings of the series. For me, a big part of the horror of NtN was the realisation that this character who had been built up as sympathetic was lying about a bunch of stuff all along. But I do think that these readings are substantively incorrect, and that they do a disservice to tazmuir's phenomenal writing, particularly around narrator unreliability.)

I think what bothers me most about how John is talked about in the fandom is the implication that a different (implied: better) person would've done things differently and somehow more right than he did.

When the text goes to lengths to explore how suddenly coming into an incredible amount of power in a fatally constrained situation cannot lead to a good outcome.

If you're putting John in dialogue with the concept of the "magical girl", which Muir has said he is (a little tongue in cheek, but)--these are young, often profoundly unready people, who often get taken advantage of by the people who give them their powers. And like, yes, John is not a teenager, but I think that's part of the point, is that at no point is a person really prepared to become as powerful as he did--even before he merged with Alecto. Even when he was fully in control of his powers, even when they were given with honest intent and trust, even when he used them with the best of intentions and tried to do the right thing, there was no way for him to be prepared, especially given the situation he was in.

And it's funny to talk about how bad John must be in bed, but also, this isn't a scenario where John is some self-deluding Elon Musk-like villain or loser. He is genuinely trying to do the right thing, in terms of rescuing the Earth's population, rescuing the Earth Herself, and doing it ethically (see: M--'s insistence that they perfect the cryo containers until they could transport pregnant women).

I really do think this is something people are blocking out, because it is one of the uncomfortable parts of Muir's message with the series. But ESPECIALLY because the people "critiquing" him as an embodiment of patriarchy and empire are failing to see that part of Muir's critique is of human vulnerability to power: That is, that power corrupts.

And this even has echoes with Gideon & Harrow's story! Harrow begins the series in a deeply unequal dynamic with Gideon! And she does horrible things, not just because she is traumatized, but because she is traumatized and has the power to act her desires out on Gideon. She might have the motive (trauma), but that's not enough without the means (power).

And, yeah, I do have a semi-salty angle on this because people are frequently loath to think critically not just about axes of oppression but individual relationships of power when it applies to them and to people they like. ESPECIALLY when there is a very vocal segment of the fandom that is enthusiastically pro-harassment. It's very convenient to villainize John and actively dis-identify with him, because otherwise, you'd have to face the question of whether you'd do any better in his place. But the thing is, the mission of revenge he embarks on is a lot closer to many peoples' hearts than they'd like to consider.

That's the whole point.

Okay, so under the cut are my first drafts of doing the math, which don't check out with reality. I think I made incorrect assumptions about what percentages "usually", "sometimes", and "rarely" are equal to in real life.

A much better, and simpler calculation is as follows:

The original Watermelon post has about 40 notes (excluding my responses) and 310 votes. That's a roughly 8:1 Readership: Notes ratio.

The follow-up post has about 10 additional notes and 80 votes (after 20 hours), which is also a roughly 8:1 ratio.

Since the first post was popular and the second wasn't, this 8:1 ratio is probably stable. Further testing would be necessary to see if this holds up in other contexts, but I'm not recently getting paid for this so I'm satisfied with this answer.

I'm curious whether this 8:1 Readership:Notes ratio holds up well for other people's blogs. Or if anyone else has a better interpretation of my data. So I encourage any of you to replicate some version of the experiment.

Okay, so let's assume the following:

"Usually" = 80% likely to L/R

"Sometimes" = 20% likely to L/R

"Rarely" = 10% likely to L/R

"Never" = 1% likely to L/R

"First" = 50% likely to L/R

If I were to make a Cooking Class post on which I film myself cutting up a watermelon and pickling the rind using @...'s method as well as my own lactofermentation method, it would probably get somewhere between 10 and 50 notes. Whatever it is, let's call this number N.

N is going to be a sum of each of these three groups, each weighted by their percentages, such that

N = 0.8u + 0.2s + 0.1r + 0.01n + 0.5f

On its own, that's not very useful, but thanks to this poll, we have a fairly reliable idea of the relative quantities of each demographic.

s = 2u

r = 3u

n = 0.75u

f = 0.6u

So we can substitute these back into our pseudo-formula and get:

N = 0.8u + 0.2(2u) + 0.1(3u) + 0.01(0.75u) + 0.5(0.6u)

N = 0.8u + 0.4u + 0.3u + 0.0075u + 0.3u

N = 1.8075u

u = 0.55N (rounded)

Okay! Now we create a formula to represent the total number of views (V) by using the demographic ratios

u = 0.55N

V = 0.55N + 2(0.55N) + 3(0.55N) + 0.75(0.55N) + 0.6(0.55N)

V = 0.55N + 1.1N + 1.65N + 0.4125N + 0.33N

V = 4.0425N

In other words, I can assume that there are about 4 times as many viewers as there are notes.

Except...

On the other hand, for the watermelon poll, I got 40 notes compared to 8 times that many votes (which I can assume to be equal to how many people read the post).

So my takeaway is that less popular posts have something like a 4:1 Readership: Notes ratio, but popular posts may be twice that. Further research is necessary to see more complexities in the relationship.

By far my favorite not-quite-plothole of the show is that when Marinette's birthday came up, Tikki got her a kwagatama, which is a very important symbol of friendship and love that takes months and a lot of hard work to make. On Adrien's birthday, Plagg did not do this.

She posts "incorrect quotes" of things that he's 100% said and he knows it's Ladybug but he cannot, for the life of him, figure out who runs it. He also can't admit that he knows they're all real quotes because that would obviously make him one of two people and I don't think they'll mistake him for Ladybug.

Everyone else just thinks it's shitposts. She regularly gets angry anons telling her to give credit to the people who come up with the jokes.

I’ve complained about ableism on the Left, but this video addresses it better than I probably ever could.

This comment on the video in particular stuck out to me.

As an autistic and mentally ill leftist these are definitely things I’ve been thinking about for a while. The peak moment for me was around a year ago when this clip was going viral on leftist twitter of a dsa meeting in which someone literally just asked for basic accommodations to their sensory issues. the almost universal response from the online left was that it was “cringe” and “embarrassing” and “making us look bad”. I remember in specific one very grossly, explicitly ableist comment like “you can’t even handle people clapping but sure, you’re gonna start a revolution.”

Reminds me of when Rose Twitter attacked a wheelchair user for the crime of reporting the Uber driver who endangered her life by ditching her on the side of the road. She got called a grifter, bourgeois, and all sorts of garbage. Additionally, many of them seemed to operate under the delusion that people just won’t need wheelchairs anymore once we abolish capitalism.

Not how that works, broski, but okay.

And if the relationship tag you want to use doesn’t yet exist, write it out anyway and the tag wranglers will take care of it. This is infinitely better than using a preexisting incorrect relationship tag.

Tagging your fic correctly ensures that people who want to find your fic can find it and those who don’t want to see it can filter it out of their search results. It’s integral to letting your readers know what they’re in for when they read your story. And there’s a certain element of respect and author responsibility to it as well.

Heyyyy besties! I’m a fairly new reader, not really but we will go with it, and I just want to tell y’all how much I admire your work and creativity and “AHHHHH.” WOW. (clearly I’m excited and nervous) So I discovered ambition through the extremely talented rucasmarkle’s Instagram page (thank you so much Pearl if you see this), and I went through ups and downs with the characters. I even cried multiple times while reading, once in the car while listening to Adele but let’s not get into that. My favorite character had always been Lucas Friar but you extremely talented people added a new depth to him and THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR EVERYONE HAS BEEN ON POINT. Gosh and can I thank you enough for the topics seen through the show? I mean, LGBTQ+ representation? CHECK! Fears people of that community face because of other people or life factors (probs not the best wording?)? Yes, and I’m glad y’all got into that! And in the latest episode, season 3 episode 11 (people who haven’t read it please ignore because SPOILERS): showing sexual harassment can happen towards anyone, even those who are seen as really tough. I think that’s really important because it’s rarely discussed in places where people are supposed to feel safe, like schools, but sadly aren’t taught. Point is that while Ambition can be comical and filled with drama, it also helps teach a younger audience the importance of mental health and daily issues like the one previously discussed. For example, say I’m young and since my favorite character is Lucas James Friar, I now understand I can’t close myself up so much. I need to understand I can’t take out my anger on others, instead I’ll do what I need to do. I’ll talk to someone. Also the weekly podcast is iconic, I really look forward to every Sunday because of how absolutely HILARIOUS it is. Basic Programming

Back in the summer of last year, during our first lockdown I was busy putting the finishing touches to a program I’d been writing using the BASIC programming language. Are you of a certain age and remember trying to program in BASIC (Beginner’s All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code)?

I’ve found an app for iOS called cbmHandBasic.

That’s the ‘what it looks like in the App Store’ image. This allows you to do a bit of BASIC programming.

But before you try out your own programming you wanna sample my terrible programming skills and play my interpretation of Hangman, don’t you?

Assuming you said yes to that question, here’s what you need to do:

🔸Install cbmHandBasic on your iPhone or iPad

🔸Copy the entire contents of my BASIC program which appears below onto your clipboard.

🔸Launch cbmHandBasic

🔸On a new line type Edit “hangman.bas” and hit the Return key

🔸A new screen should appear with something like 10 PRINT “Hello World”

🔸Just ignore this and tap the screen, so the cursor is on a new line

🔸 Tap the screen a second time and the options ‘Select | Select All | Paste’ should appear

🔸Tap on ‘Paste’ and the contents of the clipboard should appear

🔸Tap on ‘Save’ at the top of the screen and you will go back to the original screen

🔸Now on a new line type Load “hangman.bas” and hit the Return key

🔸Finally type Run, hit the Return key and the program should run

Don’t get too excited it’s far from perfect and there’s no graphics in the program. The word you have to try and guess is chosen at random from a selection of 52 words I’ve built into the program. There’s no check made as to what your previous word was so there is a possibility that you could get the same word twice in a row.

If you’re feeling really adventurous you could add more words, which if you know BASIC you’ll easily see where they should go within the program. The only restriction being that you can only use letters a-z, no numbers, punctuation or spaces. It doesn’t matter if you use upper or lower case as the program converts all into upper case.

If you do add more words it is most important to make sure the last DATA line reads: DATA “end”. An error will occur if this is not the last line.

If carrying out the above procedure to get the program any subsequent times you wish to play Hangman you just need to type Load “hangman.bas” and hit the Return key followed by Run and hitting the Return key.

Miraculous Ladybug THEORY: Identity Reveal This Season

SPOILER ALERT!! 

All of this theory’s information is based on 1 episode title and summary that have been released but not the episodes themselves. If you do not wish to spoil yourselves, please scroll along. Otherwise, you’ve been warned.

I would like to put in one more warning. If you don’t know by now, Miraculous Ladybug has been having an issue where the episodes for this season have been airing out of order in relation to the plot and actual episode numberings. So my theory may be completely debunked if these episodes release in a different order than what has been projected at this point. However, I’m going by the timeline of product codes as opposed to release dates and order of what both wikipedia and the ML wiki say. I think the product numbers and order of release have been straightened out (let’s cross our fingers) so this warning hopefully shouldn’t go into effect. Without further ado, let’s begin.

Thesis: Ladybug and Chat Noir will know each other’s identities this season, specifically in the episode “Cat Blanc”.

Before I delve into this theory, it’s important we know the season chronology. So, here’s a list of all of the episodes of season 3 in order of product codes.

The episodes that are bolded are the ones that we will be talking about today. The ones italicized are the episodes that have not aired as of this theory’s publication.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s start with the beginning of the theory with an episode that has already aired: The Puppeteer 2.

At the end of the episode, Adrien and Marinette have the following exchange in the Agreste limousine:

Marinette: I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have kissed the statue. I didn’t know it was you, if I had, it wouldn’t have been a prank, because--

Adrien: No, no! It’s my fault. When you left the workshop, I was so worried you were mad at me, it made me do this prank and...

Marinette: Of course I wasn’t mad at you! I’m sorry that I made you believe that.

Adrien: Is that true? We’re still friends, you and me?

Marinette: Of course! But maybe we should stop playing pranks on each other!

Adrien: Ha, ha! I know, I’m not good with jokes. The girl I’m in love with doesn’t like ‘em either.

Marinette: The girl... you’re... in love with?

[Marinette backs away from Adrien and turns herself towards the car window.]

Adrien: Are you okay, Marinette?

Marinette: Yeah, yeah. I’m glad we’re friends.

After this scene plays out, Marinette gets out of the car at the bakery and laments about the conversation up in her bedroom. Tikki attempts to comfort her and Marinette seems to be playing along, as though trying to comfort herself, but the expression on her face shows emotional pain.

This is something that Marinette will not get over with easily.  The writers know this. And that is where the next chronological episode comes into play: “Cat Blanc.”

Here is the given summary for the following episode:

When Marinette makes a serious mistake, she must bear the consequences by confronting the one she could never have imagined could be akumatized.

Given by the episode title and the summary, it’s obvious this episode is about Chat Noir (called Cat Noir in the English, thus the episode title) getting akumatized. Using the events that occurred in the prior episode we can theorize and piece together what may happen in this episode.

Marinette is still heartbroken about Adrien calling her a friend and admitting he’s in love with someone else. Marinette, as Ladybug, rants to Chat Noir about her problems and in the process of doing so, slips out Adrien’s name, revealing who she is in the process. Ladybug realizes that she said Adrien’s name but doesn’t realize that she gave him the final piece of the puzzle, and either stops the conversation there and deals with an akumatized person or flat out leaves in a rush (depending on the timing of the conversation). Devastated, Chat Noir is vulnerable enough for Hawk Moth to akumatize him. Ladybug fixes the problem and apologizes and explains it all now that the two know each others’ identities.

The episode will most likely take a different turn of events, but I believe they’ll hit on the following points:

Marinette/Ladybug’s frustrations about Adrien are revealed to Adrien/Chat Noir

This is what causes Chat Noir to be akumatized

Because of the first point and how it causes chaos, their identities will be revealed to one another

Onto my last piece of evidence, the episode “Loveater”.

The following is the official summary for the episode:

Ladybug and Cat Noir confront Mr. and Mrs. Bourgeois, who have become "Loveater", a two-headed Cerberus that devours all the love in Paris. 

The trend that goes on in Miraculous Ladybug is that every season finale has majorly crippled the heroes and it’s their job to overcome said cripple and to save the day.

So why is the big villain someone who eats love?

One could hypothesize it’s because of the whole love square, that idea to me is incorrect because that would only impact one party. If they didn’t know their identities, Chat Noir/Adrien would only hate Ladybug while Marinette/Ladybug would only hate Adrien.

However, if the two knew each others’ identities and were in love and/or dating (and thus no longer a love square), both parties could effectively be crippled because they would hate both versions of themselves, being unable to get a break to save the day.

aaaaand hello everyone, we’re back to our regularly scheduled programming, welcome to yet another episode of 'and that's what you missed on professional tennis players being dumb' (laver cup drama recap coming soon i promise)

- The week following Laver Cup was absolutely wild; Nick got (kind of, but not really) banned from playing tennis, Rafa was legit walking around completely decked out in LC merch for days, Sascha (*a TEAM8 social media intern about to be fired) followed Stefanos on instagram, then Sascha (*actually him) unfollowed Stefanos on instagram

- Of course, we also had Roger confirming in an interview that Rafa is his boyfriend- Sorry, I mean, Roger used the French word for friend, 'copain’, which what do you know, is widely understood to mean boyfriend, when talking about Rafa in an interview. Yep, that’s an actual thing that happened. He’s truly out of control.

- Lots of singles players got involved in doubles nonsense, most notably Sascha teaming up with Isner for some reason (if that never ever happens ever again, it’ll be too fucking soon), and Daniil randomly deciding to come for Stefanos’s ex (To be continued...? 👀)

- Shanghai started out with truly iconic scenes, courtesy of everyone's favourite hateable Italian and our one and only Sir Andy (he really is back™)

- It turns out that Roger is completely useless at parenting their 3 adopted disaster children when Rafa is not there

- Marin Cilic and Andreas Seppi almost had a baby together

- Shockingly, after Stefanos beat Sascha in Beijing the week before (highlight of that anxiety-ridden clusterfuck of a must-watch match), they actually willingly practised together in Shanghai, but that's not all, because according to Sascha’s completely unprompted ramblings, they got a “little bit closer” at Laver Cup and are now “having a good relationship”, which frankly, left me absolutely fucking deceased

- Their enemies-to-lovers practice session did deliver though, because Stefanos was officially adopted into the Fedal family when he defeated Djokovic in the QFs, guaranteeing Rafa’s return to no. 1 in a few weeks (and therefore making sure Djokovic doesn’t get any closer to Roger’s record of 310 weeks at no. 1)

- We had the next edition of ‘tall, blonde next gen player breaks his shoelaces before match even starts’, but surprise! It was Sascha ! If that's not proof that him and Stefanos are soulmates, then I don't know what is. Andrey on the other side of the net clearly thought so too (I can spot a Saschanos shipper when I see one), but then not very nicely Sascha took revenge on him with a bagel for laughing at him: 6-0 7-6 :(

- Marcelo almost died of hysterical laughter when Kubi was hit in the dick by a ball on court, and very helpfully stood next to him, watching him suffer as he lay on the ground in agony

- Then Fedverev happened and OH THE DRAMA !! If you only ever watch one tennis match in your life, make it this one. There was clowning, loads of anxiety, "code violation, unsportsmanlike conduct, point penalty, Mr Federer" (fucking wild ??), butterfly-talk and so much more. We just hope Rafa survived okay watching it, back home in Mallorca.

- It's impossible to stay mad at Sascha for besting him though, and Roger is not immune to his charms either: he immediately said some adorable dad-things about him, as expected.

- Another positive outcome was that we can keep enjoying the fact that Fedal have both won exactly 381 Masters matches in their career #couplesgoals

- The Colombian lads casually bagelled the American servebots to everyone’s immense pleasure, so we had that going for us too

- Meanwhile Stefanos fell victim to Daniil ‘Bullshit Russian’ Medvedev for the 5th consecutive time, and in true Stefanos-style claimed that the reason for that was simply because playing him is #boring

- The media turned to our resident Stefanos-nonsense expert for comment, and Sascha pretty much just said, ‘I want to have nothing to do with this, but also Stefanos is wrong as usual.’ He did seem very exasperatedly fond when he heard about it though.

- Daniil, after having just won his 6 millionth tournament of the season (he actually genuinely smiled this time, but probably only because of Sascha being cute), didn't take kindly to the whole being boring thing however, and as it turns out he hate-watched Stefanos's last few vlogs in retaliation #newsubscriber

- Meanwhile everyone was baffled at why Isner of all people was at an UNIQLO exho, but Roger beat him in spectacular fashion, so we quickly got over that

- The ace on match point was a bit of an overkill though and brought back some unwanted W*mbledon memories, but to be fair, we're used to having war flashbacks about those two championship points by now

- For a glorious couple hours, the ATP’s Race to London ranking page was showing Rafa at a joint 15th place (with FAA), with zero points, but as qualified for London. That’s just how much of a legend he simply is.

- Stefanos’s social media break was never really a proper thing, but I’m happy to announce that we're back to full-speed; we got some philosophical, emo insta posts, and also a new vlog, in which he advises us to eat our rice, and proceeds to wander around Shanghai alone and unsupervised, non-stop blabbering about his iPhone. Good to have you back, Stef 💕

- In tragic #hairupdate news, Domi got rid of all his floof (which understandably had people near-suicidal), even more upsetting: David did the same thing (honestly, just wtf), then in our new #facialhairupdate sub-segment: it turns out Stefanos is growing his beard out because he doesn’t want to look too similar to Sascha, which is fair enough; it must get awkward when you go on a date with your boyfriend and people mistake you for brothers

- Kei in glasses happened though, thank you Naomi <3

- I also feel like Patrick McEnroe had some spectacularly incorrect takes to offer on something next gen related at some point, but I can’t actually remember what, so let’s just leave it at that
