I just saw the news that the Trump administration is ending funding for The Trevor Project as a 988 Lifeline partner.

First and foremost, the Trevor Project is not shutting down. They can be reached directly at 1-866-488-7386, or by texting START to 678-678. What is shutting down is the ability to call 988 and be directed to the Trevor Project’s LGBTQ+ youth lifeline.

However, I wanted to share the various LGBTQ+ helplines that I have bookmarked anyway, because god forbid one of these incredibly vital organizations DOES shut down, I want y’all to know what other support is out there.

Nichelle Nichols - (Star Trek) - She speaks for herself. Legendary, iconic, at the forefront of feminism and civil rights in the 60s, she is a triple threat who did so much more. She volunteered from 1977 to promote recruitment diversity within NASA, including some of the first female and ethnic minority astronauts. Martin Luther King Jr. compared her work on Star Trek as a 'vital role model' to the civil rights marches. She refused to be dismissed, fought for visibility and shone whilst doing so. As a woman in stem, and simply a woman she means the world and stars above to me.

She is the original badass babe. She was a black woman in a leading role on TV in the 60s, a trailblazer for black actresses for years to come. She is so beautiful and so awesome.

she's fantastic. have you seen her? paved the way for black actresses on TV even while her lines and scenes were being cut and improvised the most iconic uhura line in the series. (sulu: "I'll save you, fair maiden!" uhura, pushing him away: "sorry, neither!") she's incredibly talented and it's a crime the show didn't give her more screen time (or make her sing more often because she also has a beautiful voice!)

A sci-fi icon!

She was such a trailblazer, and Uhura was such an important character for so many people to be able to see on TV. Apparently Mae Jemison (the first African American woman to go into space) cited her as a reason she wanted to become an astronaut. She was just an absolute legend!

The story of Martin Luther King telling her not to quit Star Trek gives me chills. Representation matters. “Thank you so much, Dr. King. I’m really going to miss my co-stars.” Dr. King's smile, Nichols recalled, vanished from his face. "He said, 'What are you talking about?'" the actress explained. "I told him. He said, 'You cannot,' and so help me, this man practically repeated verbatim what Gene said. He said, 'Don’t you see what this man is doing, who has written this? This is the future. How to properly create a readable reference… !

Using old pilot reference as an example, I’m here to expand on this to make a turn around sheet that will be more helpful to someone who would be looking at this while animating the design….

1st, get rid of the posing, it’s stretching anatomy and complicating the image, how will we be able to see how her shoulders rest if we can’t see her arms down at her sides? Leave poses for a separate page for exaggerated expressions

2nd, giving her a neutral expression can not only help us better balance the thickness of her lashes but also make the eye shape clearer- and where her features should rest naturally when she is calm. Giving the animator a consistent anchor after an especially exaggerated movement of the face. We always must have a proper clear default.

3rd, proper side angle, her arms pinned back slightly to expose her side, showing the animator how the shirt ends at the side or how the lapels connect to the back and wrap around the neck- which can be shown at the back angle too.

4th, proper back angle, you can see I have two set here one where her hair is out of the way and exposing her back while one had the hair fell down, showing us not only how the back of her shirt looks but as well as how her hair would fall- leaving nothing to imagination and guess which could have contributed to animation consistencies to the pilot art style. Preferably we would also have a straight on shot as well, but for space sake I left that out for now.

5th, all are in the same pose and all body parts match up, none of the hand on hip or out in an awkward position. We have to know in animation the BASICS then from there the animator is free to bend it in practical ways but will always know what the rules may be. It’s exactly why so many shows have animation bibles. The more information you feed your animators the more streamlined your project will be. Don’t make the animators work any harder then they already do by guessing what the hell you were going for…

6th, add ons, what is the inside of her mouth look? What about a place we can’t see such as her top lid (while also getting a view of what her lashes look like down at half lidded) or the underside of her foot? Leave no place left untold! Remember animation can help give your characters the illusion of living in a 3d environment. They can and will see the underside of them or behind them- work thoroughly.

Whether you are making animation or even a comic, a proper reference is crucial to character consistency as well as a perfect place to add additional information one might not see at first but grow incredibly vital in later drawings.

ALL OF DAPHNE'S TRANSFORMATIONS. INCLUDING UPDATED NYMPHIX.

Previously Fairy of the Dragon Flame now Fairy of Embers. She doesn't have any transformations others than these because she was fast tracked into the nymphix path, and unlike the winx the majority of fairies don't pursue additional transformations past enchantix. (i think Daphne would be interested in Dreamix tho, so maybe I'll draw that eventually.

Her major color shifted after dying and being revived, which is shown in her winx and enchantix.

I changed her major color from orange/yellow to more of a teal/green because. she just doesn't look good in yellow I'm sorry I really tried but it wasn't working. Also little updates to her hair color, nothing huge tho. Daphne's primary motifs are a branching "Y" shape and a double oval/tear drop. She's a pants when possible girlie and a one set winger(yes her nymphix looks like it have multiple wings but they all merge into one stem on each side) . Her scars from her Sirenix being ripped out of her caused her winx/enchantix to change a little to cover them(mostly seen in the arms) due to insecurity. Her Dryadix/nymphix flower is a daffodil! because pun Daph-Daff, and Daffodils symbolize rebirth and new beginnings (also creativity, energy, resilience, forgiveness and vitality). Her Harpix wings aren't super specificly patterned, but she has darting wings common in small song and seed birds (robins, finches, brown birds etc.) the coloring is referential of a Shrike (also called a Butcher Bird), because Daphne was. incredibly dangerous and if she had sided with the ancestral probably would have been given a moniker similar to Butcher of Domino or Daphne the Slaughterer. (some people do call her these but its mostly among people who dislike Domino/The Royal Family.)

Lore! Daphne doesn't have a great sense of self, she was planned as a necessary successor to Marion/the dragon flame in a period as the ancestral witches were escalating their attacks and search for the dragon flame. Bloom was a back up baby in case both Daphne and Marion got dead and basically worked as intended haha. Daphne was also much more publicly involved in the kingdom than many of the other royals in winx (Stella, Aisha, Krystal and even Galatea to an extent all had rather sheltered upbringings) in a way Daphne is much more like Sky and Thoren in the since that none of them really had the space to develop their own personality outside of their familial duty.

Daphne's 1st winx and enchantixes are as direct a copy of her mom's Enchantix as you can get with transformations, right down to the more greenish tint of her major color. Growing up Marion used her fairy form liberally, so that, combined with being the next Dragon Flame holder left a deep impact on Daphne's subconscious. Daphne was also heavily influenced by Faragonda during her Alfea and Nymphix Quest years, but since she was older this isn't as deep an influence. After being revived, Daphne's years of defining herself as her connection to Bloom causes her major color to shift more blue in response to her trauma. Daphne is slowly starting to develop a sense of self outside of her titles/connections but it's unlikely her major color will shift again unless she has another major trauma.

(for the record the Winx do have trauma over the timeline I have laid out that would potentially cause their major colors to shift but I didn't do that for a couple reasons 1, their colors are iconic and make them easily recognizable as characters; 2, I'm a tired bitch. )

happy 55th birthday to the one and only genius billionaire superdad philanthropist! let's discuss the question on everyone's mind.

What do you get for the genius billionaire superdad philanthropist that has it all? That’s something you’ve been asking yourself for years every time Tony’s birthday rolls around. He used to throw elaborate parties every May 29th that would sometimes turn into several day long benders, but ever since you came into his life, that’s dropped off significantly. Now he opts more for a public gala of some sort about a week before his actual birthday, that way he can go totally dark and spend the whole day with you and the other people he cares about. He still remembers that first birthday after you came into his life.

If he’s had you since you were a baby, he knew IMMEDIATELY that things were going to be quiet this year. Even if that meant he spent the whole day in a ball of anxious existential self doubting dread without the liquor and bodies and noise to silence it. But he didn’t care. Somehow the idea of throwing some big party while his baby was upstairs waiting for him made him feel worse. Maybe Pepper insisted on something, some kind of classy, evening cocktail party to celebrate. Tony spent the whole time sneaking peeks at your baby monitor until he was eventually able to slip away and spend the rest of the night hidden in your nursery, with you cradled against the soft fancy fabric of his tux. He sat in both your favorite chair, the really smooth gliding rocking chair, rubbing your back and talking to you about everything that was on his mind, even though you were too young to process any of it. 

“Still good for your development, neurologically.” He said to you playfully. “At least, that’s what the experts are saying when they’re not changing their minds about car seats and sleep safety. When are those guys gonna get on the same page?”

He had asked it rhetorically, but you looked up at him with your big old baby eyes and giggled. You giggled as if you were saying tell me about it, like you understood him. 

That was his birthday present that year. 

Or alternatively, if you came into his life when you were a kid through some sort of wacky misadventure Iron Man prequel/addition (my personal favorite is shoehorning baby stark in between Iron Man 2 and 3. Iron Man 2.5 if you will) So you’re maybe around 10 or so, and you’re FREAKING the hell out because not only do you apparently have a dad that’s actually super nice and cool and attentive and responsible (despite what some people think) and actually a really really really incredible dad (again, despite what some people think. Cough cough TMZ) but now it’s his birthday soon. And it’s his first birthday that you’ve been around for, so you KNOW you’re really gonna have to do something great to show him how much you love him and how grateful you are for him (woohoo insecure and anxious attachment on both ends! Rhodey’s about to gift you both family therapy! /hj) 

The problem is Tony is a very attentive dad. Usually not a problem, but now you cannot find anywhere that isn’t secure and safe and monitored to work on his present in secret. You ask him in a totally casual not suspicious at all way if Jarvis tells him everything, or if Jarvis can keep secrets. He asks what sort of secrets and you’re like yknow. 10 year old child not suspicious at all secrets. Normal secrets. The uje. (use? How are we visually shortening usual?? Youushe??? You get my point.) so he gets an idea and says yeah, Jarvis can TOTALLY keep secrets. 

Then he sets up the secrets secrets are no fun protocall. 

He starts not only monitoring all the secrets you tell Jarvis, like how you believe mermaids are real, but also analyzing body language and vitals to make sure none of the secrets you’re telling Jarvis are the kind a grown up should know about. Thankfully it’s just a bunch of random harmless stuff, like how you think Max Goof from a goofy movie is cute or how you think you can secretly talk to cats. Kid stuff. But after a little while, you start asking Jarvis for help figuring out what you’re going to do for your dad’s birthday, and he turns the protocall back off. You… you wanted to know if Jarvis could keep secrets from him so you could surprise him with a birthday present that he’d love. Honestly, that alone is all the gift he could ever want or need. He’s so deeply touched by what a compassionate, creative kid you are that he needs to take a minute. Eventually when his birthday rolls around and you show him a bunch of craft projects you made for him - air dry clay and shrinky dink christmas tree ornaments, construction paper handprint turkeys, just a whole mess of construction paper and glitter glue and pipecleaners and paint. He is so touched and so confused, but when you explain what it is - a year’s worth of presents and pop up cards and crafts, “to catch up on what we missed” he actually can barely process how much love and adoration that fills him with. He pulls you into the tightest hug. He kisses the top of your head. He gets a little misty eyed. And every birthday from that first one together onwards are tied for first place in his mind.

Below are the requests I plan to put in my own survey, for anyone interested:

1. Release the rest of Sylus' standard content, increase his affinity cap, and update his orbits.

2. Give us roadmaps for future updates/additions to the game

3. Add more permanent ways to farm Diamonds and other resources.

-As currently is, it is incredibly difficult for end-gamers and F2Players to earn Diamonds outside of dailies and SHC, the latter of which requires a high number of high level 5 stars and protocores, and a variety of stellactrums. For Sylus mains, Caleb mains, low spenders, and F2Players it is near impossible to adequately meet these requirements.

4. Increase event rewards.

5. Increase droprates for bounty hunts.

6. Increase the rewards for awakening memories.

7. Lower the mats needed to level up memories.

8. We need better and clearer communication from the company.

- the total lack of response or communication from the company regarding the concerns we — your consumers — have repeatedly brought up through emails and social media during these last couple of months has been incredibly disheartening and disappointing. As customers, we deserve the bare minimum of communication from you. The lack of it causes uncertainty, as well as in some cases the spread of rumors and misinformation.

9. Add more regular updates to the main story.

10. Add more permanent and substantial features to the game, such as additional playtime minigames or new battle modes

11. Announce new banners at least a week before they are released so that every player has a chance to somewhat prepare for them.

12. Release reruns of past banners, particularly solar myths.

13. Fix the lighting for low light kindled scenes. At present, the lightning issues in said scenes make it difficult to see MCs with darker skin tones in them. We want this game to be equally inclusive for every player

14. Do not separate the outfits and hair/cosmetics in limited banners. Put them all in the same crate.

15. Do not put event outfits or hairstyles/cosmetics behind paywalls.

16. Do not put any of MCs non-combat outfits behind paywalls.

17. Make curly hair for MC an option in cutscenes and etc. Not just in glint photobooth.

18. Allow us the option to hear MCs voice during kindleds and Tender Moments.

19. Slow down the speed of MCs subtitles. They go by so fast that they are impossible to read without pausing the game and using the dialogue log, which breaks the immersion.

20. Sell LADS merch globally.

21. (during battle) Don't start the timer until the player has reached the checkpoint.

22. Release at least one 4 star with an illustration of Sylus and MC together. Every other LI has at least one each with MC. Fair treatment amongst all 5 LIs is important

there's a lot of gay coding going on between aymeric and estinien, especially within the context of them being knights + nobility. there's an Insane amount of medieval romance tropes happening to them but it's just so subtle from a modern lens it'd be easy to miss. it makes me incredibly ill.

+ the addition of the fact that you, as the wol, never learn estinien's past directly from him, in fact if you don't do the dragoon job quests, the only way you learn about it is via aymeric, who speaks of the matter in a way one would who was told directly by that person

what more is that — yes, i'm aware of ffxiv's tendency of avoiding romances of any sort all together, but they were never afraid to show, for example, thancred's philandering. nor are they scared of making a character's interest in the opposite gender explicit. with that said;

the thing that really sticks out in my reading of aymeric de borel being a closeted gay man is that he is Super popular among the ladies. he could genuinely have any pick of them. BUT that man is 32 and unmarried in a society where carrying on the family name is paramount. especially when he's the last of his line.

is aymeric and estinien's position in romances up in the air specifically to give room for people to play dolls? maybe. but from a strictly canon lens, we know aymeric's friends and acquaintances who have known him for far longer than the wol, and in every instance we know - both from aymeric and estinien - that estinien is aymeric's closest and — his own words — dearest friend.

don't even get me started on aymeric's dragoon-shaped ear cuff (!) that matches estinien's drachen textures

that his relationship with another man is so vital to his character and vice versa really bespeaks a level of closeness no other character can achieve.

all this to say — they share in each other a typical medieval romance which is hidden in the subtext of their friendship. and i think that's awesome especially when it's between two men. those knights are gay and in love to me.

Look, I like the anime. I enjoyed it.

But there is an entire backstory and personality to Kirito's character that was cut from it completely, along with SEVERAL BILLION OTHER VITAL PLOT POINTS

Please read the books. Don't read it in release order, the story is old as dirt and the author has since made various post-humorous additions that really raise the story's quality and content to a new level. I recommend looking up the chronological timeline of the stories using the SAO wiki and reading in that order, making sure to read the included Progressive series novels as well, as they contain a great number of Asuna POV chapters and a shit load of other early-series content that fleshes out the Aincrad arc to an incredible degree.

Please. For my sanity, at this point. I need to talk to someone who knows about how Asuna and Kirito gave each other a space to be human again in their darkest hours, or about Kirito sobbing into the arms of an NPC that reminded him of the family he thinks he'll never get to see again, or about Kirito's body dysmorphia, or about how Asuna didn't know how to play the game at first and how that actually empowers her to disregard status effects at one point because the game functions by tricking your brain into feeling false sensations and functioning under those assumptions since you have no real body to limit in the game world AND HOW SHE WAS SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE THIS OUT BASED ON THE CONSOLE'S DESIGN, OR ABOUT THE ABUSE KIRITO FACED AT THE HANDS OF HIS GRANDFATHER, OR THE FACT THAT THEY WERE ALL WELL-AWARE THEY WERE SLOWLY DYING IN REAL LIFE AND NEARLY RESIGNED TO TRYING TO MAKE THEIR LAST DAYS THE BEST THEY COULD DURING THE FINAL YEAR IN AINCRAD-

Gillian Anderson - (The X Files) - GILLIAN MY QUEEN

Nichelle Nichols - (Star Trek) - She speaks for herself. Legendary, iconic, at the forefront of feminism and civil rights in the 60s, she is a triple threat who did so much more. She volunteered from 1977 to promote recruitment diversity within NASA, including some of the first female and ethnic minority astronauts. Martin Luther King Jr. compared her work on Star Trek as a 'vital role model' to the civil rights marches. She refused to be dismissed, fought for visibility and shone whilst doing so. As a woman in stem, and simply a woman she means the world and stars above to me.

She is the original badass babe. She was a black woman in a leading role on TV in the 60s, a trailblazer for black actresses for years to come. She is so beautiful and so awesome.

she's fantastic. have you seen her? paved the way for black actresses on TV even while her lines and scenes were being cut and improvised the most iconic uhura line in the series. (sulu: "I'll save you, fair maiden!" uhura, pushing him away: "sorry, neither!") she's incredibly talented and it's a crime the show didn't give her more screen time (or make her sing more often because she also has a beautiful voice!)

“Sorry, neither” in response to “fair maiden” was ad libbed by her. There’s a lot more I could say but what else do you need??

A sci-fi icon!

She was such a trailblazer, and Uhura was such an important character for so many people to be able to see on TV. Apparently Mae Jemison (the first African American woman to go into space) cited her as a reason she wanted to become an astronaut. She was just an absolute legend!

The story of Martin Luther King telling her not to quit Star Trek gives me chills. Representation matters. “Thank you so much, Dr. King. I’m really going to miss my co-stars.” Dr. King's smile, Nichols recalled, vanished from his face. "He said, 'What are you talking about?'" the actress explained. "I told him. He said, 'You cannot,' and so help me, this man practically repeated verbatim what Gene said. He said, 'Don’t you see what this man is doing, who has written this? This is the future. He has established us as we should be seen. 300 years from now, we are here. We are marching. And this is the first step. When we see you, we see ourselves, and we see ourselves as intelligent and beautiful and proud.' He goes on and I’m looking at him and my knees are buckling. I said, 'I…, I…' And he said, 'You turn on your television and the news comes on and you see us marching and peaceful, you see the peaceful civil disobedience, and you see the dogs and see the fire hoses, and we all know they cannot destroy us because we are there in the 23rd Century.'"

She shared the first interracial kiss on Star Trek, helped propel real life African American women into space-related careers, and looks divine in a mini skirt.

For folks who loved Sinners and want to see other movies based around parties that celebrate Black music I've got two recommendations for ya:

(2020) Lovers Rock by Steve McQueen. It's part of his incredible five film anthology Small Axe spotlighting the lives of Caribbean immigrants in 1960s–80s London. Lovers Rock is set at a house party in the 1980s and covers the whole night from setup to sunrise. It's warm, intimate and gorgeously shot. Here's a BTS:

(1999) Human Traffic, this clubbing cult classic is set over the course of one wild weekend in Cardiff. It's a film whose soundtrack couldn't exist without the cultural diversity of the UK music scene. This film is bonkers in the best way and has some fun cameos like DJ Carl Cox and Howard Marks.

An additional recommendation to tie the two together: Shaun Parkes who plays Koop in Human Traffic is also in Small Axe. Parkes portrays activist and restauranteur Frank Crichlow in Mangrove, which tells the story of the titular Notting Hill restaurant and the Mangrove Nine's resistance against police violence to protect a vital community space. I think Small Axe is one of the most ambitious and sincere film projects of the 2020s and I can't praise it enough. There's also a BTS for this one:

Children of Zeus are described as being extremely powerful half-bloods, due to their father being one of the Big Tree [...] They are said to have powers of Aerokinesis (the ability to manipulate air and wind) , Atmokinesis (the ability to manipulate the weather) and Electrokinesis (the ability to psychically generate and manipulate the eletricity)

Ezran - Cabin 18 (Hebe)

"The goddess of youth, vitality and forgiveness. She's also the daughter of Zeus and Hera, and the former cupbearer of the gods."

Although there is not much information about the Children of Hebe, they're said to have powers of Hebekinesis (ability to control and manipulate youth) and Vitakinesis (control of the healing process). Some describe them as being highly sociable individuals.

Rayla - Cabin 17 (Nike)

"The goddess of victory, daughter of the Titans Pallas and Styx. She assumes the role of the divine charioteer, a role in which she is often portrayed in Classical Greek art."

The Children of Nike do not have major participation throughout the book series, but there are some of their characteristics that are known, such as: their increased strength; incredible speed and agility (which can be compared to that one possessed by the Children of Hermes and Iris). They are described as competitive, hard-working, intense and motivated with their goals.

Soren - Cabin 7 (Apollo)

"The god of the sun, light, healing, disease, plague, music, art, poetry, archery, reason, knowledge, truth, and prophecy."

One thing noticed is that the abilities of some Children of Apollo tend to be more specialized in one direction rather than just gaining a general set of abilities like many other types of demigod children. The known abilities are: archery, healing, control of sound waves/music, mental and/or physical control of the light and also the power to create and control diseases.

Ellis - Cabin 8 (Artemis)

"The goddess of the hunt, archery, wilderness, animals, forests, the Moon, radiance, maidenhood, and childbirth."

As Artemis did not have children of her own, Cabin 8 serves to welcome the Hunters of Artemis . The Hunters of Artemis are maidens (which can be human, god, demigod, or nymph) who have sworn loyalty to the maiden goddess, to join her in the Hunt and reject love for as long as they live.

Hunters are immortal, wich mean that they can't die of illnesses or old age, unless they fall in love or they fall in battle. They are naturally stronger and faster than a mortal, demigod, or nymph. In addition, they also have the powers of Zoolingualism (ability to communicate with animals) and Photokinesis (ability to psychically manipulate light and related phenomena).

Notes:

Subject Number 001 (hereforth referred as SN 001 for simplicity) is a fine example of maturing Mudokon Queens. From her initial medical intake upon arrival; she is a very healthy member of her species. SN 001 is well toned. Upper body muscular is above average for a specimen of her age. Though this is thought to have been a result of SN 001's native lifestyle.

When SN 001 was first discovered, she had already been bred with one of her wild Drones. She was beginning her metamorphosis into her fully stationary Queen life cycle, but had yet to start laying her first clutch of eggs. It was vital that the Homestead Security teams captured SN 001 before she began nesting. The additional weight brought on by the metamorphosis would have made extraction and transport difficult from her native region.

Due to the process of relocation, said clutch was proven unviable and promptly destroyed by Homestead R+D staff as most first clutch eggs tend to be. Wild caught Queens tend to have less productive laying cycles until they're fully settled within their nests. This can take years in native habitats.

To speed up the metamorphic process, we have allocated resources for SN 001 to make it easier on her body. First, we removed her legs, which would have become vestigial if left intact. Once healed, this will provide comfort to SN 001 in the future.

Next, once SN 001 has become stable enough from her amputation, we plan on installing a feeding pump directly into her stomach. This will limit her need to forage and provide her with a constant supply of growth hormones, nutrition and supplements. This will ensure she stays nesting for longer periods. In turn, insuring that her eggs become more valuable.

If hwr product lauch goes well, we are in talks with our Vykkers Labs partners into developing a custom-made Shrink unit for her enclosure.

By removing her basic wants and needs, SN 001 is estimated to be an incredibly competitive and productive Queen with a very long life ahead of her. She is a Queen that is desperately needed now more then ever with the Magog Cartel's aging stock slowing down with her production.

Our goal is simple: To flood the market with Rosie's Labour Eggs come the fall quarter.
