its not JUST about this either (though you DID hit the nail on the head), it's about ALL of them being utterly fucking SCARED. they've never actually Properly Met besides when Pac went to the past, so can you imagine THE EXPECTATIONS they're all holding themselves to ? the PRESSURE is ON them, all 3 of them.

Pac doesn't want to disappoint his own folks with the person HE is, and neither do THEY wanna let HIM down because he's heard SO much about them, and what if... they're just.. not what he expected them to be?

And not only that, but it's been YEARS. over a DECADE (at LEAST 16 years if you're like me and tried to do the math years ago with a friend on amino using headcanons <3).. They've changed. All of them have. Especially if we're going with the theory that Sunny and Zac are being held captive by the Pointyheads. When they finally stop to reflect, at least one of them is going to be anxious because what if they're no longer recognisable from the people they were? What if they're not believed? What if everyone they knew and loved turned their back on them because they changed too much? (I choose to believe this is sunny btw. Zac is the voice of reason, but honestly he's equally as anxious.)

They're traumatised, they're scared, they probably look and act a little different,

and then they're thrust into a situation that honestly doesn't fucking seem real.

And it is.

And the three of them can all finally rest. and put their guards down. and cry, and embrace each other for the first time. for the first actual time.

They have a lot of catching up to do. But i dont think they mind one bit.

Man. Pac's reunion with his parents. That's a scene that I think we've all been waiting and hoping for.

The entire show gave it so much build-up and anticipation, it's such a disappointment that we didn't get to see it happen (for real) before the show stopped.

My approach would be to follow through on that build-up and write a reunion that gives it justice. Give it a deep and emotional impact, not too light-hearted but not too sappy either, at least not in a way that strips the scene of its believability and impact.

There are so many ways I could approach their reunion. So much so that I'll be open to changes and tweaks in order to polish it as much as possible. But if I ever get to a point of opportunity, then this is how I imagine it to go...

For his whole life, Pac has long hoped to one day be together with his parents again. The mystery behind their disappearance has haunted him for as long as he could remember. While he never got closure on WHY they vanished, he inevitably got to a point where he's accepted that they are gone and won't return. Essentially, he lost hope. But his world was thrown upside down when he found out that they could in fact still be alive, and may be held prisoner on an alien world.

Since then, his hope has been rekindled...but it almost got snuffed out by the clones-incident. Try to be in Pac's shoes; for a long time he's never gotten closure on his parents' disappearance and believed that they were dead, then he was told that they're actually still alive, and then out of the blue they 'return' and Pac felt the happiest he's ever been...until his hope was brutally crushed when it was revealed that his 'parents' were just Dr B's clones meant to fool him into jeopardising the Tree of Life.

I'd imagine that Pac got trust issues out of the incident. Not in terms of trusting people, but by putting his trust in 'hope,' because all that hope has gotten him was deception and a broken heart.

And because of this, when the time came for Pac to truly reunite with his parents... he was terrified.

He was scared over the possibility of it just being another stunt, another case of false hope. He may even think it was just a dream, or a nightmare in the making, because he was too scared to allow himself the liberty to believe that he finally had his family back.

In many ways, the same can be said for Zac and Sunny. Two souls who have been isolated from their kind for unprecedented years, enduring who-knows-what horrors in their time as prisoners on Pointyhead Planet, wanting nothing more than to be back home with their son.

So, for both sides, it's a moment of truth...

But as soon as the first step was made, when the first hug was embraced, all of their doubts and fears sizzled away.

When Pac was in their arms, letting it all sink in, tears streamed down his face.

And for the first time in a long time, he no longer had false hope.

He had his family.

but yea GOTTA LOVE FATE it gets wild!!! it is pretty hard to get started and i cant say im the best to give recommendations since i havent even seen everything dfhjgsdgf but i will give it my best shot!

fate stay night is where fate started, and the easiest place to start *that* would be the fate/stay night unlimited blade works anime by ufotable

it should be on crunchyroll, thats where i watched it. it lacks a few things but gets most of the themes right, which is what’s important. the animation is also baller and its a fun watch! very good intro to the series.

alternatively, you can also start with fate/zero, which is a prequel to fate stay night.

theres quite a good anime adaptation - i wouldn’t personally recommend it to start with, bc its a bit too dark and lacks optimism for my tastes, which isnt really reflective of fate as a whole? at least imo. it is good, though - or at least, enjoyable?

listen, it has lancelot du lac jump on top of a fighter jet and chase king gilgamesh around on it while screaming and firing a minigun! while rock music plays!

tangent, but fate has the best lancelot take of any adaptation ive seen so far because it actually remembers that a major part of his character is his Emotional Delicacy and his tendency to regularly go batshit when faced with difficult problems. fate really said “what if we manifested the second most mary sue knight in all of arthuriana, but like, only from the times when he went insane and ran off naked into the woods”

and also gave him a gun!

anyway. it also provides some background for fate/stay night and adds some depth and reinforcement to the Juicy Themes(TM) behind fate, which is the main appeal of the franchise. that and the extremely off-the-walls bullshit they come up with sometimes.

i started with the unlimited blade works anime, lost my mind over archer, and then sort of passively consumed fate by just...seeing posts that turned up on my dash about it, or from friends talking to me abt some of the wilder shit that happens.

fate meta is incredibly enjoyable to read bc theyre just hog wild and occasionally give me emotional whiplash from how fucking weird fate is, but also how emotionally compelling some of the Themes(TM) are

then i got into fate grand order bc i read a post analyzing the character motivations of salieri, you know, the musician, who in fate is actually the manifestation of the rumors that he killed mozart, and has a Lot of issues about this

he first shows up in an alternate timeline of russia where everyone had to become furries in order to survive permawinter

fate grand order is a gacha mobile game and i cannot even begin to describe what its deal is. it starts slow but gets very, very good later on.

but yeah fgo sucked me back into fate, permanently this time, and im STILL working my way thru fate content

on the plus side you wont run out and most of it is self-contained so you can just stop at your favourite

the one downside of the anime adaptations is that they dont go in as deep on the characters and their dynamics with each other as the visual novel does, so some of the finer details that really make the themes Pop dont get across, which is a shame. but also it doesnt really matter when youre first getting into fate? you can just start at UBW, and if you like it, mosey along into the other stuff when you so feel like it

(sidenote - there isnt a decent anime adaptation of the fate route - it’s the first of three routes that make up fate/stay night, before unlimited blade works and heaven’s feel. each of the three routes do build up on each other, and the fate route is chronologically first, but. well. an anime adaptation of fate route does exist, but its kind of a mess, and also combines stuff from other routes, which isnt great)

• in the blistering heat of the south, under the bleeding sun walks a woman with the heart of the devil and the flesh of an angel, red gooey hands swinging, dripping at her sides, her soul hungry for more, always more. her lips reveal an insanity on a sugar high, words and phrases mashed together in quick speed and a wicked tone brought up from the depths of her dark soul. baby lives a life of hedonism and hellish delights, and while she enjoys having her fun, she doesnt mind having others tag along, especially if she takes a liking to them. however, it is more likely that one would become a victim rather than a friend if they became the unfortunate target of her attention. still, your demeanor fascinates her, your face when she first knew she had to add you to her collection, your beautiful tears when she woke you in her room as she strapped you to a chair. your suffering is unimaginable beauty to her, though she would not go as far as to inflict any permanent damage. it is hard for her to restrain herself when your choked sobs and cries of pain are the melodies sung by the very angels above, but she manages. she would also be sure to keep the rest of the firefly family at bay, claiming you as her personal victim, as she retrieved you herself. in the time that follows, it is reasonable to imagine she would include you in the "shows" she often performs, always with teasing touches and the occasional rough grasp, feeling your soft skin under her hands. due to her frequent mood swings, you may find her petting your hair in her room as she sits beside you facing the window, watching the sun dip below the horizon, turning the evening sky into a lovely earthy blue and deep lavender as the world falls asleep, the summer air of the night filling your lungs, baby whispering sweet nothings, calling you her pet, her pretty, pretty pet. on the other side, you may find her lashing out in frustration, you, bound to her chair and unable to flee from her fury, those violent hands of hers punching holes in the walls and scratching at them in pure anger until her fingertips bleed raw, incoherent screeches of rage filling the room as she attacks all that is around her, smashing glass and throwing furniture, every so often pausing to make her way to you, forcing her face just inches from yours, white knuckles gripping the arms of the chair, her hot breath on your flesh, wild eyes barely able to stay still in contact with yours, those oh so violent hands picking up glass from the floor and dragging across your cheek and watching intently with what can only be described as pleasure as the red paints your skin.

• it is clear that baby herself enjoys a good laugh, though her sense of humor can be regarded as disturbing and odd. though she always seems to be in an excessively happy state due to her mental issues, she still appreciates someone who can make her laugh. if you tell her a joke, she'll laugh, even if she'd heard it a thousand times, even if what you said wasnt even meant to be a joke at all. if you do manage to open up to her and continue to entertain her humor, she'll grow quite attached. while she does have her bad days, she'll mainly prefer to spend time laughing with you instead of going out and finding other victims to slaughter. of course, she'll never cease her killing rampage, but her body count will begin to lessen as she finds that she would rather be with you. death, gore, and pain are still her passions, but she'll try to shield you from some of her and her family's behavior if she notices that it bothers you-without being too obvious, she also dislikes being emotional and serious. she would far rather stay on her happy high and believe that nothing matters at all. it is unlikely she will ever truly open up completely to anyone, but she will attempt to do little things here and there that she thinks will make you happy. if confronted, she'll dismiss it with a laugh and increase her agression and wild behavior for a period so as to not arouse suspicion from your or her family.

• baby is all too familiar with the world of sex. she often uses her body to lure in potential victims, and sometimes even continues to have "fun" with them before the kidnapping/killing. she loves anything that makes her feel good, anything that gives her pleasure and gives it to her fast-thus, her habits of drinking, doing drugs, killing, and having a lot of sex. she doesnt care for anyone elses well being until she begins to grow feelings for you. she would most likely attempt to seduce you as soon as she kidnaps you, but will not continue if you dont appear to want it as much as she does. baby prefers a situation wherein she and her victim are both enjoying themselves and therefore focused on the task at hand rather than focusing only on how to get away and make her stop. if you and her actually manage to form a trusting, undoubtedly faithful relationship, one in which you would not run away as soon as she turned her back, baby would eventually free you of your chair and integrate you into the family. you can expect her to attempt to seduce you again, but if you deny her, she will question your feelings for her-baby is not familiar with cuddling or anything of that sort. to her, love is expressed through sex, and you being uninterested signals to her that you do not love her. she will need to be taught that affection comes in many forms, and does not exist solely in pleasure. it will be a hard concept for her to grasp, however, after a while, you may wake to her shifting closer to you in the bed, her hands gentle, warmer, as she wraps them around you in an embrace.
