Yeah I'm definitely that guy. And I've got Words about it.
Basically, I'm done with them. The project was mostly being done for me to just be creative and make things for fun, and ultimately, it did that. I've gotten everything out of it that I wanted to and just don't really have a desire to keep making things for it.
That and well, the Inscryption community, at least around the modding scene which ended up being what I was closest to, tended to be real toxic and shitty. Not really to me luckily, but it was super draining to see them actively tear each other down and being complete assholes to each other because they just didn't like the thing someone else made, or didn't like that someone didn't like what they made or liked.
And that includes people who are just using my assets to create things because they want to, on both sides of that. And while I'm super glad my assets got people to be creative, watching everyone in that community constantly tear each other down and fight for petty reasons just pushed me away from it to the point I barely want to be involved with it anymore, both the community as a whole and my own project within it.
So...yeah, project is basically dead cause the section of community I ended up in was super toxic and shitty to each other nigh constantly and that drained all my desire to keep working on things.
I still technically help with a small project called Augmented which is a heavy retooling of my assets to make something more balanced and closer to what a real TCG would try to be. They have an alpha up on the Table Top Simulator workshop if you wanna check it out, but other than that I've moved on.

Has anyone made a multiplayer mod for act 2?
I know everyone wants one for act 1, but act 2 is way more suited for it. Here’s why:
Deckbuilding: Acts 1 and 3 have their decks build up over time. Act 2, on the other hand, lets you build your deck as you please. This makes it a lot more akin to PvP deckbuilders like mtg and hearthstone. I suppose you could do something akin to super auto pets with act 1, but that’s a lot more difficult to pull off due to the other factors.
Balance: Act 1 is not balanced, it’s not intended to be. That’s not what Leshy is about. This is really fun for something like Kaycee’s mod, but not so much for an online multiplayer. Act 2 is designed to be more balanced. There are a few overpowered combos you can pull off, but they take a lot more prep.
Graphics: No, I’m serious. The aesthetics of the battle system in act 2 is designed in such a way that it’s practically begging for player customization. Players could customize the border, their intro cards, even how their board looks. This could either be what you see or what your opponent sees depending on how you go for it.
Someone has made this and it’s awesome.
It plays very different to the main game but has practically all the features described.

Been making a lot of headway on my inscryption project; very surprised/ proud of myself for making all these cards by hand?! Although play-testing’s even more fun. I’ve added some new cards to balance the game for PvP and will be designing my own portraits for some of them. The game is, in many ways, similar to IRL inscryption games I’ve found trolling the inscryption pvp discord, but I’ve adapted the encounters from the rouge-like version back into my board game. Am thinking about making a video at some point explaining my ruleset, so stay tuned! Til then y’all can enjoy these promo pics; peep my death card, lil Mr. Mrs.

Game Concept 3 - Balatro Chess
My third concept was developed as an evolution of Idea #1, from having to think about traditional board games and from what we were told at a visit to University Of Suffolk about how board games can be iterated on to form the basis of a new game.
It would use the same systems, with a Dungeons Arcade style set of cards and scanning system, but instead of PvP cards the gameplay would be closer to that of chess.

Instead of having a card grid, the table should have a fairly unique chessboard. The pieces will be black-and-white [or minor variations], partially to make the game seem less like it's making unnescessary changes, and also so that those with all forms of colourblindness will be able to differentiate the pieces. I have considered also implementing a higher visibility setting, which replaces the pieces with black or white cubes that have 'Pawn', 'King', 'Rook' written clearly on them. However, at any point in their turn, the player can scan a card from their deck which will be registered by the game. Only one card can be scanned per turn, and up to 3 can be held. This is to prevent looking through your deck and using all the good ones, as only 3 effects can be present. Scanning a 4th will nullify the first. These effects could be creating 2 castles, upgrading a pair of units, switching 2 friendly units locations or allowing 1 unit to move twice per turn. These effects will be displayed on the side of screen via a framed version of the texture on the scanned card, and via a physical effect on the piece similar to Balatro Joker editions. These effects are reverted once too many cards are scanned.

Other than that, the game plays as normal. The objective is to kill the enemy king, and all non-affected pieces act as they typically do. I aim to make the opposite changes that 5D Chess did - rather than implementing confusing, complicated and large changes that don't really change how the game is played, I'm trying to use a smaller but more detailed system with the cards to allow for different approaches and counterplay. Since chess is so simple, any changes like the ones I aim to make will have a larger affect on gameplay and so will need to be balanced accordingly.

As for the visuals, I covered what the pieces will look like earlier and the perspective will be similar to that of Inscryption. Both enemy and friendly effects will be visible to both players [or player and AI] to keep the game fair. If a piece is knocked out, it will move to the edge of the board corresponding to the player that knocked it out.

However, my biggest problem is that the physical cards and scanning mechanic feels unnescessary and tacked on - something I criticised 5D chess of doing. My solution is to create a chess board where each square is a tile. Pressing down on one tile and then on another will cause the game to check what piece is on tile #1 and whether it can go to tile #2. The tiles will be highlighted in game when selected for visual clarity. This negates the need of a mouse to control the game and can rely on the scanner and board. This does however raise the question of, at this point, why not just play real chess? My response to this would be the card system, and that not all people have the fine motor controls to reliably play chess.

I imagine the biggest challenges to development being how I will create a turn-based system and developing an AI. Getting the card scanner to work will also be pretty tricky or fairly easy, depending on whether I can find a plugin that works with UE5 and how that plugin works. Creating the models shouldn't be too tricky if I make them out of voxels, likely based on a pixel art sketch beforehand for scale. The cards will take more time but, especially if I take inspiration from Balatro's Planet, Tarot or Spectral cards, I should be able to create them fairly quickly once I've decided on a layout and style.

I'd love to get into more, but I just can't really wrap my head around all the intricacies and rules of pvp stuff like Yu-Gi-Oh and the only other thing that feels like it's "up my alley" right now is Balatro, which I've yet to get

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
HMMM... i think he would lose a lot of his charm in most other mediums to be honest. for my particular vision of s4, definitely a stage play. or a ballet or something. i want princezam doing salieri type shit.
the wings of freedom/pits of hell cinematics especially would translate well to this and they would be WAY COOLER !!!!!!! his night of the end breakdown becoming an address to the audience... the whole thing needs to be done 1800s style where the audience is expected to heckle him the whole time. and throw things at him maybe. i think you could do something cool with it where the first half of the show is centered around castle arc/leviathan and the second half is exploits/leadup to wormhole... so you can dramatize the thing that happens where pvp stops mattering, if pvp is dance choreography. you have a lot of motion and action in the first half, and then by the second half you're left with these long scenes where characters monologue to each other/the audience (ideally this would genuinely piss people off to watch at least a little but the dialogue and character drama is enough, much like in actual lifesteal s4. i've been watching ford play the second act of inscryption and puzzling over it as a game design choice ... it might be like that.) and then for wormhole itself you have scenes like the final eclipse conversation taking place isolated in the center of the stage under a single light while there's this mass of dancing/fighting taking place in the dark around them...
first scene of the play is subz and vitalasy standing in the wreckage of spawn -> eclipse base reveal. second scene is team awesome betrayal. i can see it all in my head so clearly. mapicc and ro moving around and talking while everyone else on stage is frozen in place. you could have actors positioned throughout the audience who come on stage for wormhole but that feels slightly tacky to me, it would depend on the execution. this all came to me just now like a vision from god
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
(looks around) well um now this might be surprising (coughs) but it is vitalazam. not just my favorite lifesteal ship but one of my favorites ever in anything. i like it when characters feel like they're representative of or deeply entwined with an ideological conflict and these ones in particular are entwined with a METHODOLOGICAL conflict masquerading as an ideological conflict...!!!!!!!!!!! over how they interact with their medium...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and beyond that i like the way they bounce off each other on a very basic level. how weird their combination of complete awkwardness and drama/tension is... this is the appeal of vitalasy as a character in general to me, the way he is exceedingly awkward and weird and yet has a very commanding presence at times. he always feels like an animal puffing its fur up to seem bigger... he tends to put anger on over sadness, in contrast to zam in s4 putting sadness on over anger, making himself "smaller" on purpose in a lot of ways.
basically it's insane to me that two people who talk to each other like THIS have such a real sense of tension between them

i'm also drawn to the element of frustration and unfulfilledness. there's so little of it comparatively but i loveeeeeee s5 vitalazam for how frustrating it must be for vitalasy. how much he missed his chance with zam in eclipse when he could have been there, and from zam's perspective, chose the exploits Over zam by not spending time with him or fighting for him the way subz did. the idea that vitalasy might regret that forever ... and then zam just never even talks about any of it again no matter how many times vitalasy needles him on it.
been thinking a lot about vitalasy essentially responding to the question "how much did you even protect me?????" with "i protected you FROM ME" like what is wrong with you. seriously what is your problem. it's besides the point but i like "Okay so this guy is kind of obsessed with me" way better than mutual obsession in this context... it plays into vitalasy's grandiose visions for the world and his playing god, and setting himself up for failure, and trying to change lifesteal when all zam wants is to play the game and had vitalasy simply played with him instead of doing all that he might have gotten what he wanted (romantically or as a teammate or literally whatever) from zam. and in the end, does he want that more than he wanted the thing he sacrificed his chances at it for? somebody please bonk me over the head before i keep talking i know i am repeating things i've said elsewhere at this point
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
my first thought was mapicc and then i went "Well that's kind of the obvious answer what else have we got" and then i thought about it some more, went on a whole subzam detour mentally, and then got back to mapicc. So i suppose it is mapicc

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s release date has been confirmed

Revealed during Ubisoft Forward, the game based on the James Cameron Avatar franchise will release on December 7.
A trailer shown off during Ubisoft Forward showed a Na’Vi using rifles and other human weaponry. It also gave a brief glimpse at the open world of Pandora. The game will see the player fighting against another invading human threat.

Embracer announces "comprehensive restructuring program" to close studios, cut jobs

Embracer has announced a "comprehensive restructuring program" which will result in studio closures, project cancellations and job losses.
The Swedish umbrella company has grown enormously through acquisitions over the past five years, and now owns a swathe of studios such as Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics, Borderlands maker Gearbox, rights to franchises such as The Lord of the Rings, and an array of other publishers such as Plaion, Saber and THQ Nordic.
But while amassing its empire, Embracer is yet to see a big return. Last year's big bet, its Saints Row reboot, was a critical and commercial failure. More recently, the company suffered a body blow when a major unannounced $2bn deal fell through, prompting its shares to plummet by an eye-watering 40 percent.
Today's reckoning seeks to make Embracer a "leaner, stronger and a more focused, self-sufficient company", the company's boss Lars Wingefors wrote in an open letter published this morning.

Silly idea about PvP mode in Inscryption (Massive spoilers for the game and ARG ahead)
- We know that a PvP mode is basically very challenging because Leshy’s campaign system and Beast card could provide very broken, unbalanced combos and most importantly, “waiting-god-know-how-friggin-long-for-the-opponent-to-grind-that-goddamn-benzene-snake”. Also he just want to tell stories.
- So in order to be able to battle real players, there has to be a game which requires good abilities, strategy and counters.
- Which one met those requirements? P03.
- I think that no Scrybe loves PvP than P03. No need for stories and lore. Just have to balance out the cards, prepare the players and watch them plan strategies and beat the shit out of each other.
- It could be possible. “Inscryption” has been uploaded successfully. And in most of them, “he’s the one in charge”. He has the ability to connect to the Internet too.
- About the balancing stuff, we wonder why he prefers it so much yet the Ourobot exists. Because at that time he wanted to perform The Great Transcendence quickly, so he just let it slipped.
=> In conclusion, my idea about PvP mode is it’s an campaign modded by P03, he’ll do it by connecting two players and representing each other’s opponents, commanding and playing through him to battle. Basically in your perspective, you’re dueling with your opponent through P03’s face, every move he makes is your opponent’s and the same applies to the opposing player.
And yep he’s gonna throw that Ourobot away cause he can.
I just thought this idea was kinda funny. I’m not a native English speaker so apologize for word-misplaying here and there haha.

Mix It Up Monday
For @onlycodcanjudgeme 's Monday Prompt!
While we aren't one to be immersed in several different fandoms at once, we do take content through bite-sized pieces. We're mostly excitable about games with very niche fandoms and media that you wouldn't really think has a fandom. Each description of a fandom is different, so we just like to boil it down to a word which means, a space for people to share the same "interest".
So here are the things we found interesting and wish to delve in more and consume their content:
Inscryption: This one is quite recent. We had been intrigued by it because of enscrypted, which was a fanmade game on Roblox which supported a multiplayer pvp with the cards from Inscryption. But it was horribly unbalanced and not quite satisfying to play. We bought Inscryption two weeks ago and became completely hooked on it. The lore is extensive, and MatPat hasn't brushed on it a lot. It's a stellar, fantastic rougelike deckbuilder game which we absolutely adore.
Spiritfarer: We just bought this game yesterday and we fell in love with it at first sight. It's charming, the animations are fluid and wickedly smooth, the dialogue is impressive and well-thought of, and just pulls the right heartstrings. Wish we had bought the art book too, because the art in this game is extraordinary.
The Long Dark: This game is a large inspiration for the survival mechanics of our project. We had watched the series from StacyPlays eight years ago, a youtuber who has 69 videos under her belt about the game. Such a wonderful game which was also available for mac, which was great, because we're on a mac.
