Just… Albus in the cursed child, for as mixed as people seem to be on it… Albus as the certified middle child who doesn’t have the cloak, doesn’t have the map, who doesn’t even have a family name?

Can you imagine little Al (not yet Albus because that’s a name he truly goes by once he has Scorpius) tucking himself into the cracks of the door as he hears his parents talking, hears his dad say it would have been better to know they were having two boys so they could have just called him Sirius

Al, getting teased by his invisible brother, yet seeing so distinctly that his father chose James over him for their family legacy

Al, who grew up on the filtered advice of a distant, out of reach mentor who he could never live up to. Not like James with his fun, his humor, or Lily with her love and her girlhood.

Albus, who doesn’t get a green scarf and hat until after the first snow, unable to parse if it’s the color, the fact that he’s the second born, or maybe just that it’s him that made it come later than James’ had

Albus, who goes back home for Christmas and faces his father’s disapproval for befriending a Malfoy, his father’s distrust and attempts to assure his morality for befriending someone harry assumes cruel and antagonistic

Albus, having to hold awkward conversation with Rose and Ron and Hermione, because neither of the kids want their parents to know they’re not talking (they find out eventually, and though they’re nice about it, Albus knows they’ll always put Rose’s feelings first)

Albus, who is suddenly assumed more malicious and problem causing than he ever was before, who suddenly is seen as a prime person to scot the blame off to when things go wrong

Albus, who gets chosen after his sister (“just like her mother!”) during the family quidditch match; who gets meaningful looks from his Uncle Percy; whose Christmas sweaters are no longer red but never green; who suddenly cant seem to talk to his uncle ron anymore, someone who used to understand what it was like to be James’ brother

Albus potter who stradles the line of too Potter for Slytherin and too Slytherin for his family.

Albus' and Scorpius' amortentia DEFINITELY smelled like sweets. Yes, both of them smell sweets in their amortentia. Don't argue. (Duh the time where Albus stayed for Scorpius' sweets. 😋🫶)

Once Scorpius thought his amortentia smell was out of friendship, but sometime later he realized that he had never shared his sweets with anyone else except for Albus ☹️

Let's be so real here, Albus and Scorpius are SO BAD at giving dating/relationship advice.

LIKE- These two never had any exes, situationships, or anything like that. They just WENT STRAIGHT (pun? I guess) to crushing on eachother AND THINGS WORKED OUT FOR THEM 😭😭😭🙏

Like literally- their relationship would be one of the healthiest relationship ever- like I genuinely BELIEVE that they couldn't even fight for MORE than 10 minutes without flopping back to eachother ☹️🫶

(At some point) they probably think that if someone likes their friend, their friend WILL like them back because they are so in love and so lucky and so in love 😭😭😭🙏

Someone: "So, now that you two are together, what is your go-to dating advice?"

Albus, all confused: "...Well, I just stuck him for like 5 years and keep being secretly in love with him until he likes me back."

Scorpius: "Well yeah that's what I did! All we did was hang out together, hold hands, cuddle, share a bed, and then one day we just confessed! :D"

Someone: "...You know relationships doesn't always work that way."

Scorpius, also confused: "...What do you mean you don't just follow your bestfriend around for years until he likes you back??"

Albus: "Yeah..I mean you just choose them over and over again they'll like you back, right??"

Albus get TONS OF OWLS and LETTERS (From Scorpius ofc) every HOLIDAY. Like, genuinely.

He has letters upon letters PILING in his room (from Scorpius ofc) ☹️☹️☹️ even Harry himself probably confronted him on the amount of letters Albus received

LIKE SERIOUSLY, Harry seeing the piles of letters ONLY FOR ALBUS probably reminded him of that time in the Dursleys with the Hogwarts letters ☹️☹️☹️🫶

And of course, Like any other lovesick teenager, Albus spends ALL HIS DAY on his room writing to Scoprius while almost always late for lunch and dinner ☹️🫶

Scorpius??? NOT ANY BETTER. He spends ALL HIS DAY in the holidays writing to Albus and practically making the family owl going back and forth to their houses 😭🙏

I feel like Draco DEFINITELY had nobody he was writing letters to so he KNEW that tye letters were for Scorpius ☹️

Scorpius and Albus visiting Astoria's grave one day, one person with a flower bouquet each, with Scorpius murmuring, "Mum, I found someone who stayed for my sweets." And Albus cried right then and there ☹️

Perhaps there are days when Scorpius just misses his mother and Albus lends him his shoulder to cry on ☹️

Thoughts on Harry Potter book series - 11 paragraphs

So I read the entire Harry Potter series from the Philosopher's Stone to the Deathly Hallows and I have some thoughts. I went in there for a few reasons: familiar subject to help me get back into reading, filling in gaps I had from only watching the movies, and to find out if some of the discourse I've seen online is accurate.

First, I'm so happy to have read the books. It was really fun to compare what I remember from the movies to the books and often times I understood the screenwriter's decisions to remove some elements or spice it up. I won't go into specifics right now but I think the movies captured the essence of the books - different to the nitty gritty details - well. I'd rate the entire book series an 8/10 to be honest.

Secondly, a lot of what I've read on people's views about the books and characters seem to be projection of their dislike of the author onto the characters tbh. I went in trying to find out if Hermione was misogynistic or a self-insert of JKR or if her S.P.E.W element was white saviourism or if goblins were supposed to represent Jewish folks and.... none of that really passes the canon test to be honest.

Hermione is an insufferable know it all but she's loyal and caring and does her best but she likes being right and it's easy to find her annoying sometimes. Her and Ginny's dislike of Fleur don't scream misogyny as much as it did jealousy. I don't know much about JKR the individual to see any self-insert but Hermione was consistent as a character. I still love her and her annoying ways <3. In the Goblet of Fire when Ron is being nasty about some girl's looks, she says that she has a nice personality and that her acne isn't even bad anymore. She encouraged Ginny to go date other people so she would stop being so freaked out about Harry. She loves being right so she lacks tact but she's always advocated for people to be treated fairly.

With regards to S.P.E.W., she is an imperfect activist as any 13 year old would be but I do not think it fair to consider her a white saviour. Hermione doesn't get enough flack for that jinx on the Dumbledore army that scarred Marietta - her one anti girl's girl move but to be fair, she didn't know it would be a girl who would tell on them. Otherwise, it's through her and at times Hagrid's and Lupin's eyes that we learn the Wizarding world is very prejudiced, even non pureblood frenzy people like our next main character - Ron.

Ron is unsympathetic to most magical creatures to the point where I found myself irritated at times because he's generally well-meaning but insensitive and mostly insecure as a character. He won't call anyone a Mudblood but he's ready to separate himself from the likes of werewolves, giants, goblins. I bet if he never met Hermione, he would be among the Wizarding folk that aren't blood supremacist but who don't care or think much of the well-being of other magical creatures beyond daily usage and comfortability.

With regards to the goblins and Jewish people slant, I don't see it. I understand as an adult that there are stereotypes alluded to each religion - some of which are very well earned (e.g. religious fundamentalists are prone to extremism) - but I can't see this particular point as anything but a massive tell and self-own. I didn't like Griphook as a character nor the goblins' logic of anything goblin made is always theirs even if you paid for it and they expect you to keep paying for it as long as the original purchaser is dead (like what? Don't be greedy). Call me ignorant but goblins are a mythical creature here and that's it. The centaurs are also an annoying group but they also echo the sentiment the goblin's shared about not being like humans and not sharing the same values.

Onto Harry now, he is ... nice if dislikeable at times but in the way I find Hermione dislikeable. The movie cuts out a few things that would make audiences less sympathetic to him but ultimately he is a likeable person with flaws. Every character in the book has flaws. Aside, fuck Snape. Harry should have named his pet that, not his son.

So imagine I go into the series trying to find proof of JKR's racism and misogyny and antisemitism and I come out with a story that I think talks about all of those things in the way a story written through the eyes of a male orphaned teenage boy can. If the story were as bad as people who hate the author think, it would never have so much merch and spin-offs and adaptations, and versions, and theme parks. Sure, some people can be annoying (dramione shippers, book snape lovers, people who hate marauders fans, marauders shippers, people who write racist rape fics) but the story is alive and well done. Some elements might be awkward and some characters may feel sidelined but there's a lot of room to add meat but there's also a WORLD to play in.

The elements I think were handled awkwardly were the shoehorning of Lupin and Tonks - I wish we got more of them. I actually wish we got more of Andromeda as well - I can see why she's a fanfic favourite - someone who can easily be mistaken for Bellatrix but seems to be her total opposite but also her baby sister? - that's ripe for fanon. Personally I wanted Draco Malfoy dead - avada kedavra that racist.

I can't stand Dumbledore. He's imperfect and a little more than manipulative. We learn that Severus is the reason Potter's family is dead and that was never Dumbledore's secret to keep from Harry especially with the way Snape terrorized children. He let that man bully the child and did nothing about it except chastise Harry everytime he said Snape instead of Professor Snape. Dumbledore keeps his and other's secrets and plays everyone like a chessboard instead of speaking openly to them as equals. Fuck him and his eye twinkle lol.

Snape was a coward and honestly the only person fit to write a book on him is also Rita Skeeter. He was a pureblood supremacist for most of his life, he bullied children, he bullied the child he's partly responsible for making an orphan (who he had no intentions of ever hiding with Lily's husband). If any character was a shoehorn, I think it was Snape. That chapter was not a redemption arc as some people say. He was not an anti hero so much as a reluctant spy because his "all mudbloods must die" leader of the "all mudbloods must die" club he WILLINGLY joined killed his favourite mudblood lol. Fuck that man. If anything, Snape was given a ... curve to keep Alan Rickman on the series because book Snape is so fucking tedious but Alan Rickman as Snape was glorious - I liked his sassiness.

Now I think of some fanfics I've read with some author notes I've read and I think - that's projection, that's fanon, that never happened, why are you writing racist porn? But now I see the inspiration for Dark Harmione fics (as long as there's no rape and incest) because honestly, she has a bit of a mean streak canonically (but I support women's wrongs sometimes).

Can a marauders fan explain to me what about the Prank is so angsty for them

Cause like all the content i see from the marauders is how much they hate snape so in my head it doesn’t make sense for them to be sympathizing with snape

So are they sad for Sirius? Didn’t he bring that upon himself? Why wouldn’t he feel guilty as he could’ve caused Severus to be killed

James? Probably not

Remus is the one who make the most sense to be upset what happened to him revolving the insident, as one of his biggest secret was used as a prank by his friends and if he truly did manage to kill or bite severus he would undoubtedly have a enormous amount of guilt

But WHY is this one of the saddest things in marauders canon coming from the fans when the one who was affected most by it was the person they hate so deeply?

Harry Potter characters that would most likely accept an age regressing S/O

Lupin: this is a no brainer. he’s kind, gentle, understanding, and knows how it feels when it comes to coping with trauma. he would be the BEST caregiver known to man. you want a stuffie? he’s got it. you want your paci? he’s got it. you want cookies? he’s got it. literally anything you want he’d do. because moony is just the sweetest boy <3

“Oh, is my little elf feeling small? Come on, let’s get you go eat something. It’ll make you feel better. Then, how about a movie? I heard carebears is nice.”

Snape: okay. now this one is tricky. at first, he’d be confused. since he’s not exactly the best when it comes to coping with his own trauma. he’d most likely think it’s childish and idiotic. BUUUT, the more he understands and learns about it, he’s wrapped around your finger. making sure your stuffies never fall off the bed, making you warm bubble baths when you’re not feeling well, brewing potions specifically for your wellbeing. he might not be as gentle and affectionate as Lupin, but he loves and takes care of you in his own way. he’s trying, that’s what matters.

“Are you feeling… regressed? Come here, let me tuck you in. I can’t have a little thing like yourself feeling exhausted, now can i?”

Luna: again. no surprise. whether as a caregiver or just someone to confide in, she’d COMPLETELY understand. matter of fact, id say Luna would be the best person to go too to explain your regression because she’d never judge you. she’d understand and help you with whatever you need. (she’d might even join in if it made you happy).

“Oh? Well that’s alright. We’re all different in our own way. I think it’s nice. If it makes you feel better, it’s worth it. Don’t you think?”

Neville: the sweetest boy. would do anything you asked him to if it meant it would make you feel safe and secure. he’d keep all of your little gear in a safe place where only you and him could find it, he’d always make sure the bed is nice and tidy for you, always has cartoons in for you, whatever you need, he’s on it.

“Hey, hey, hey. It’s okay. Take your time, I’m right here.”

Tonks: she’s fun loving, warm, and empathetic. a perfect person to feel comfortable enough to age regress in front of. i could see her painting your nails or bringing you your fav plushies just to make you smile or laugh.

“Don’t be embarrassed. This is your safe space, and I’m honored you’re letting me be apart of it. Don’t ever be ashamed.”

Sirius: this depends on the era (pre-or post-Azkaban) but i can see him as very nurturing, actually. but in a playful, joking kind of way. he’d definitely crack jokes, but never to hurt you. he’d try to make you laugh and feel better about regressing. he definitely has a childish side so i think it would be a good duo and could definitely work.

“Oh, you watching bluey? Get outta my way, I ain’t missing this.”

Harry: kinda like Snape except he’s much more quicker when it comes to understanding and more affectionate. at first, he is confused, but, knowing the childhood he had, it doesn’t take long for him to understand and quickly take care of you. he knows when to hold you when you’re anxious, and keeps your pacis and plushies in his bag just in case you ever need them.

“You’re regressing?.. right now? Okay, okay. Let me uh.. let me go grab your paci, right angel? be right back.”

in my ideal world, everyone would love and cherish Sneep. I tend to focus on marauder's era Snape

not to be rude, but i kind of only care about Snape really. the slytherins are cool and chill too (especially Lucius, Rosier, and Mulciber), but i mostly care about how they interact with and potentially fall in love with The Sneep. the marauders are rat bastards and i ship them with Snape in a "grovel eternally for the scraps of his affection" kind of way. I am not sorry.

A/n: My obsession with Harry Potter, came back after I was sick for a week and I binged all the movies. I forgot how much of a crush I had on Professor Snape that I just had to let it out and do some writing. I do have a few things in mind but if people like this short blurb I’ll continue on. By the way, I haven’t read the books so if something doesn’t make sense just ignore it or stop reading. :) Enjoy - L

Summary: After being forced to watch a quidditch game, Severus found out that his friends are pushing him to make the next move on a certain Hufflepuff girl.

Warning: SFW, Severus being his emo self, lots of low self-esteem, curse words.

He bit his bottom lip to stop himself from cursing as another harsh wind blew causing his long dark hair to get into his face again. He didn’t want to be here. It's not like he dislikes quidditch. He found it a bit entertaining but he would rather spend his weekend reading in the comfort of his bed but he was pulled from his bed by Mulciber and Avery.

“I'm not in the mood to see one of your pranks?” Severus said as they walked towards the field. He was used to watching Mulciber and Avery pull their stupid and mean pranks on the younger students. 

“No pranks.” Avery said looking over his shoulder with a smile. Severus didn't trust that smile. He was thinking if he was fast enough he could cast a spell to freeze them so he can go back to his bed. 

“Our House isn’t playing. Why are we even here?” Severus said, shooting them a glare as they made their way up to the stand. He can see the players, blue and yellow uniforms everywhere. He sighs as they sit down, he had managed to take one of his books before they pushed him out of the room.  He didn't want to leave without one, there was no point in watching this game. His house wasn't playing so why waste his attention on it. 

“Don’t be like that. We must support your girl.” Severus took a minute to realize they didn’t mean Lily but they meant you.

“She’s not my girlfriend.” Severus mumbles at them trying to ignore the tips of his ears burning. There was no way a girl like you would be with him. You were his potion partner and nothing else. He had mistakenly let out to Mulciber and Avery that he found you attractive and kind. He was always focused in potion class but now every once in a while he would glance over at you. The way your lips curled up when smiling, your eyes were bright whenever you stirred the cauldron. You always tried to get him to talk about himself. Asking him about shows and food but he kept his mouth shut. How can someone like you be interested in what he likes?  Deep in thought thinking about you he felt a slight push to his right side making his book slip out of his hands. 

Severus was about to snap at whoever sat next to him, making him drop his book and the worst thing happened, he lost the page he was at. He looks over and notices platinum hair. It was Lucius Malfoy, he was surprised that the eldest students of House Slytherin was in a Hufflepuff Quidditch match and sitting next to him. Nods and greetings were usually what Severus received from him. They weren't close friends but Lucius knew about Severus. 

“Which number is your girl?” Lucius asked him. Severus looks over at Mulciber and Avery who shrugged their shoulders at him. They didn’t mention you to Lucius, Severus made them swore to keep it a secret. 

Severus shook his head and cleared his throat. Lucius and him watched as the players flew around. “I don't have a girlfriend.” 

Lucius chuckled as he crossed his legs and looked up at one of the girls. “That's funny.” 

Severus frowned. “What's funny about that?” 

“Because of the way both of you look at each other.” He tensed up when Lucius draped an arm over his shoulders and pointed at the sky with his left index finger. Severus follows his gaze at you. 

“She has a pretty face. Nice body. That smile.” Lucius whispered as they looked at you flying with your team. Severus agreed with the older boy. You were smiling as you flew with another girl who just scored a goal. 

“How did you manage to get the prettiest Hufflepuff? Fuck- if I was you, I would just bend her-” Severus was about to cut him off when Narcissa walked up the steps to where Lucius and Severus were sitting. He quickly removed his arm from Severus.  

“Hey, love. Hey, Severus.” Narcissa said, sitting next to Lucius who kissed her cheek. 

“What are you guys talking about?” Severus looks away from them. He wanted to leave, what a mistake it was to come here. He ignored the looks the crowd gave him. The two richest and popular students were sitting next to him and talking to him. 

“Love, you know Y/n Y/L?” Severus' eyes practically pop out of his head when he hears Lucius. He grips his book in his hands tightly thinking of any excuse to leave. He didn't want the world to think he had a crush on you. He would get bullied even more. 

Sure, you were kind and pretty to him. You barely made him feel like a freak when you worked with him. He sometimes ignore you whenever you waved at him during lunch or when walking down the halls.The other male students would glare at him whenever you spoke to him. Severus knew what they were thinking. How can the prettiest girl be talking to skinny, pale, Snivellus? 

“Yeah, I do. She’s the seeker for Hufflepuff. She asked me about Severus.” 

Severus dropped the book in his hand once more and turned to face Narcissa. “What?” He asked, ignoring the hoots from Avery and Mulciber behind his back. Why would you ask her for him, he didn't understand it.

“She asked me if you were dating anyone. I said no.” Narcissa said nonchalantly as she looked down at her nails. 

“This has to be a joke.” He groans at her but Avery places a hand on his shoulder. “Ask her out. She’s probably waiting for you to say something.” 

“Fuck.” Severus mumbles as he leans down to get his book. He didn't notice the look Lucius had when he looked over at Avery and Mulciber. 

“HEY! Y/N!” Lucius yelled. Severus had a horrified face when he grabbed his book. He looked to his right and saw Lucius standing up from his seat. His wand pointed at his throat to make his voice loud. 

“Stop that! You can’t just call someone in the middle of a match. Especially a seeker.” Severus said standing up. He clutched his book against his chest. He had enough of this. He was going back to his room and never leaving until Monday. He should have never come here. He damned Avery and Mulciber for bringing him here and Lucius along with his girlfriend. 

Severus froze when a gust of wind passed him. He can see a yellow cape by his side. 

“What’s up?” 

He didn’t know if he should be angry at the fact that you actually came or the fact that Lucius greeted you with one of his charming smiles. 

“You know my friend here, right?” Severus let out a yelp when Lucius grabbed him by the shoulder and leaned against him acting like they had been friends for years. Severus was too shy to look at you. He wanted the world to swallow him whole. 

“I do. Hey, Sev.” He finally manages to look at you and his heart is flipping inside his chest. You were smiling at him while you're in the air riding your broomstick. He can hear your teammates calling out for you and such but you didn’t turn around. 

“Hey, Y/n.” Severus smiles back before looking down at his feet. 

“He wants to go out with you. Do you want to go out with him?” Severus right then there would have given his soul for the stand to collapse. 

“Yes!” Severus looks at you surprised. “If you want to. I wasn’t sure if you-“ 

“Look, I’m sorry if he made you do this as a joke but I’m leaving now. Continue on with your match.” Severus has had enough he was going back to his room. He quickly starts leaving, ignoring his friends calling out for him.

“Wait!” He flinched at the sudden gust of wind and saw you had followed him. 

“I’m serious. I really do want to.” Severus saw you looking over your shoulder when your teammates started yelling at you to hurry up. 

“How can I prove it?” You asked him. Severus didn't want to believe it. How could he, he's been bullied so many times. The only girl he liked was Lily. Now she doesn't want anything to do with him. The word dare came to his mind, were you paid by Potter to go out with him? Did someone put you up to this? 

“Severus?” He hears you call out for him. He can see the seeker of House Ravenclaw flying by you but you didn't take your eyes from him. He didn't want you to lose the game because of him. 

“Get the golden snitch if you're serious.” He said. He was waiting for you to laugh at him and reveal your true nature. He waited for the words, ‘Idiot, I don't really want to date you.’

Instead you smiled at him before nodding. “Pick me up outside of the Hufflepuff common room at 6.” 

You didn't let Severus respond, you quickly flew away back to the game leaving him in the stand shocked. Severus made his way back to his seat, he rolled his eyes at the sight of Avery, Mulciber and Lucius smiling at him. 

“Went well?” Lucius asked as Narcissa cuddled next to him. Severus looks at him with a frown. “Why help me?” He asked, not understanding. 

“Us, Slytherins have to stick together.” Severus was not satisfied with his answer. 

“Merlin, Severus!” Lucius said laughing as he looked at Severus who had a deadpan expression. 

“Oh! Shit!” Mulciber yelled as he rose up from his seat and pointed at the sky. 

Severus saw  the ravenclaw seeker and you head to head flying up to the sky. He saw the golden snitch gliding across the field. He frowned when he saw the ravenclaw seeker pushing you with his shoulder. Lucius let out a laugh when the ravenclaw seeker fell off his broom when you pushed him right back advancing to get the golden snitch. 

Severus without realizing had stood up trying to get a better view of you. He held his book against his chest as he watched you reach your hand out flying towards the golden snitch. A huge smile broke out on his pale face when the horns blew and the announcer of the game roared with happiness. 

“Y/N L/N just caught the golden snitch! HOUSE HUFFLEPUFF WINS!”

He was standing in front of the Hufflepuff common room. He can hear cheering and music playing inside. He was nervous that perhaps you had completely forgotten about the date. He stood a foot away from the doorway, he began to fiddle with his slender fingers. He decided to wear his “nice” muggle clothes, none of them had any holes. He had even charmed them to fit his frame right and even brushed his hair. 

He was going to speak to you after the game but your teammates had carried you out of the field as they cheered your name. He let out a sigh as he looked over at the clock hanging on the wall. It was 6:03 now and you haven’t come out of your room. He shook his head, calling himself an idiot. He shouldn’t have believed that you were interested in him. Turning around to head back to his room, he heard the door open. Music and people chattering were loud, he ignored it until his name was called out. He halts when he hears someone running behind him. 

“Hey!” He looked behind when he felt someone grab his arm. It’s you. You have changed into muggle clothes as well. His dark eyes went straight to your lips, they were shiny. Your lashes are darker and longer, he then realized you got all dolled for him. Maybe you did want to go out with him, he thought to himself. 

“Hey, I didn’t think you-“ you shook your head, cutting him off. 

“I wouldn’t have missed this for the world.” Your answer caught him off guard. 

“Congratulations.” He said looking back at the door where your house was celebrating their win. 

“Wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for you.” He lets out a shy chuckle. You gave him a smile when he looked down in embarrassment. 

“It’s true. Gave me the right push.” Severus notices you grabbing your shoulder bag and lifting the flap to get something inside. He looks at you with his brows raised when you hand him a book. 

“Dark Arts VIII.” Is written in silver on the black leather cover. It’s old, and Severus saw it before in the library but never had the chance to read it. He wondered how you managed to get it. 

“This is for you.” Severus does a double take looking at you and at the book. 

“Me.” He whispered. You nod at him. 

“I asked Narcissa about you. She told me you like the Dark Arts. I know you like potions but that’s all I know.” Severus knew it was his fault for that. Every time you tried to get near him outside of the classroom he would go the other way. You would offer him a hello but as soon you wanted to get near him, he would disappear. 

“I wanted to know more about you.” Severus runs his fingers on the bind of the book before looking back at you. 

“Thank you for this. I feel horrible for not giving you anything.” 

Avery and Mulciber were behind a pillar watching the scene in front of them. They thought the castle would crumble when Severus smiled down at you. They watched the pair laugh before walking down the hall. 

“You’re stepping on my fucking leg.” The Slytherin looked at each other thinking it was one of them speaking. 

“Shit! My bad.”  Avery and Mulciber looked behind to see the door to the HufflePuff commoner half open, four heads stuck out. The fourth one gasped and disappeared when making eye contact with the Slytherin. 

“Hey!” The first head was a blonde girl, she greeted them. 

“You’re his friend?” Avery nodded and the third head who was a brunette smiled. 

“We are Y/n’s friends. Wanted to make sure she's okay with your friend.” 

“He does something and I’ll hurt him and you guys.” A voice came out, the door was pushed open completely. Mulciber’s eyes widened when a tall blonde came walking out into the hall. 

“Severus isn’t that type of guy.” Avery said, then looked at Mulciber for some kind of help. Mulciber was so busy looking at the blonde that he didn't notice Avery. Mulciber let out a wince when Avery hit him in the gut. 

“Yes, that’s right. Severus wouldn’t even hurt a fly.” Mulciber told the blond guy. 

The Hufflepuff's students looked at the pair of Slytherin for a moment. “Fine.” The tall blonde said then looked down to the hall. They all did, Severus and you were long gone. 

“She’s our friend. Just want to make sure she’s fine.” The brunette spoke as she slipped out of the door and stood next to the blonde man. They all seemed to know about Severus and his reputation.  

“Our friend too. He’s a good lad. People are just assholes.” Mulciber commented. 

“Yeah, Potter and that guy with the last name Black? We heard about them.”  The blonde said, rolling his eyes. Mulciber and Avery looked at each other not sure how to get the fuck out of here. 

“We should be heading back.” Mulciber said as he took a step back to walk to the Slytherin's common room. 

“Why not join us?” The brunette asked, looking back to the room then at them. 

“We got music and food.” The blonde man said. “Herbs.” Mulicher’s eyes widened when he saw a girl coming out of the common room with a blunt between her fingers. 

“Sure, a couple of hours won’t hurt.” Avery heard Mulciber say. The students of House Hufflepuff smile at them as they welcome them inside.

I actually think that dumbledore wasn't entirely wrong to compare the snape-james dynamic to draco-harry. it's just that draco is the james of it all, not harry. he's the one with the privilege, the loving parents who buy him nice things and send him sweets (which i'm also sure the potters did for james) and the more aggressive of the two.

perhaps draco wasn't quite as extreme as james in the end but things like the potter stinks badges, making fun of him publicly for fainting etc, all the rita skeeter stuff in GoF, trying to (presumably) get him to fall off his broomstick by dressing as a dementor, that is bullying. the nastier stuff draco did to harry and co. throughout the books was almost entirely unprovoked and unmatched by harry's actions towards him; draco fired the first shots trying to get harry expelled with the 'wizard's duel' when like, what had harry ever done to him other than not like him/reject his friendship.

I do think it's a less extreme version of snape-james as I said, but the parallels are definitely there, especially when you consider that it culminates in harry using sectumsempra on draco- a spell it's implied that sev created to use on james. it's somewhat more equal perhaps because harry is generally more popular than sev was at school, but there are also various points where harry is very unpopular, such as the entirety of OotP when Draco lords his status as prefect and then inquisitorial squad member over harry to torment him. like it is a rivalry but also draco is considerably nastier to harry and more aggressive than harry ever is to him.

harry typically holds his own better than sev appears to in SWM, but with the exception of HBP he usually has much more pressing matters distracting him to devote much energy towards hating draco. I also think Sev often could hold his own and probably did, that doesn't make it not bullying.
